Socialism exacerbates the human tendency to believe that someone else owes them something for merely existing. This is euphemistically called entitlements today.
HOWEVER, Christians must ignore clear biblical teaching such as THOU SHALT NOT STEAL in order to support entitlements merely for the sake of charity or what I often refer to as virtual virtuosity which is “I support this because I want to feel good about myself. I don’t think about whether or not it is biblical.”
Micah 2:1-2 says: Woe to those who scheme iniquity, who work out evil on their beds! When morning comes they do it, for it is in th power of their hands. They covet fields and then seize them, and houses and take them away. They rob a man and his house, a man and his inheritance.
Jesus said as recorded by Matthew in 20:15: Is it not lawful for Me to do what I wish with what is my own? Or is your eye envious because I am generous?
Socialism is gaining adherents today because it confuses biblical principles such as the ones I just cited.
