Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Spacing Out with BB and Jason this week
covering the two thousand and four movie Alien Versus Predatory.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Welcome back, I'm BB and I'm Jason. This is a
special episode because it's not coming out on just one
or two, but three different podcasts. Three exactly. You could
be on our Spacing Out with Alien podcast, Spacing Out
with Predator, or we have our main podcast where we
publish everything Spacing Out with BB and Jason.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
So this one's cross streaming.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Yes, this is a big crossover in more ways than one.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
That's so funny.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
We are hopefully going to time all this out with
our Predator movies to build up to the release of
Predator bad Lands, which is supposed to come out on
November seventh, and we also do plan to cover Alien
Earth a TV series. I don't think we will have
done that in real times because it relapse with Foundation,

(01:01):
so we got to prioritize our pick what we want
to prioritize here. As of right now, all these movies
are available to stream on Hulu, and we do reserve
the right to have a spoiler section at the in
the podcast in case we want to discuss any future
entries in the series, but in this film, during an
archaeological expedition on the island of Antarctica, a team of

(01:24):
archaeologists and other scientists find themselves caught up in a
battle between two alien species. Soon, the team realizes that
only one species can win.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Vibe check. Did we like the movie overall? How does
it stand the test of time?

Speaker 3 (01:40):
All?

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Right?

Speaker 3 (01:41):
If you like this movie, yeah, yeah, I did. You
know I love a strong female lead.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Yeah, I think like considering what this movie is, like
a mashup of two monsters going at it, like, it's
better than it has the right.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Oh my god, it's so good. It's so good compared
to all the other crap we've Yeah, like.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
I would watch this over either of the first two
Predator movies we've watched, which I know is a little
controversial because the first one is a classic but doesn't
work that well for us.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
It's just really long and grown out and it's like
very one note, whereas this one's like got different characters
and there's like history and there's like subject matter experts,
and it's just it's so good.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yeah, there was. I mean, it's it's not too long.
I feel like it could have been a little shorter actually,
but it was still it was only like an hour
forty with the credits, so that's not that long for
a genre movie. And then it had like a compelling lead.
I feel like, so oh yeah, so yeah. I mean,
I think it's surprisingly one of the stronger entries in
both franchises.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Trivia time, Let's hear a little information about Alien versus Predator, all.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Right, So this was Alien Versus Predator, which origine only
premiered on August twelfth, two thousand and four. Written by
Paul W. S Anderson, story by Paul W. S Anderson,
Dan o'brannon, Ronald Trishett, and directed by Paul W. S Anderson.
So this writer and director is known for his work
in science fiction, especially the Resident Evil series Love. Alien

(03:17):
Versus Predator originated as a comic series in nineteen eighty nine,
which also expanded into novels and video games, and this
crossover was first hinted at when an alien school was
featured in Predator two. The first screenplay for an Alien
Versus Predator movie was pitched to Fox in nineteen ninety one.
So in the Alien world, James Cameron and Ridley Scott

(03:37):
had been working on an idea for a fifth Alien movie,
but they scrapped their plans when Fox announced plans move
forward with Alien Versus Predator, so they didn't want anything
to do with that. James Cameron later admitted to liking
the movie, ranking it third amongst alien movies. I feel that, Yeah,
I would probably now that Alien Romulus is out, I'd
probably put it fourth.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
What's the second one? I know? First one is the
first one. That one's like the iconic alien movie.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Second second is probably Romulus.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Yeah, I like Romulus, but what's Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
What's Aliens? The one you didn't like with all the
military and the little girl.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
The one where that lady's doing brown face?

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
So Ridley Scott's future alien movies Prometheus and Covenant. They
disregard the Alien Versus Predator movies by presenting an origin
story of the Aliens, which contradicts this movie. But basically
this movie is not considered canon among the alien movies. However,
the Predator franchise appear to recognize it as canon. I'd
believe they reference it at some point in one of

(04:39):
the future movies, So that's why we've been doing it
in our Predator watching on our Alien Watch. The first
actor to be cast was Lance Hendrickson, who played the
character of Bishop in Aliens and Alien three. And even
though those movies are set hundreds of years in the future,
they wanted to keep some continuity by including a familiar actor.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
What did he play?

Speaker 2 (04:58):
He was the android?

Speaker 3 (04:59):
No, I know, he was the android, But what did
you play in this movie?

Speaker 2 (05:03):
He was a wailan the guy.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Oh, that old guy with the wheeze.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Yeah. So I don't know why they're saying that's connuity
when it's like he's a completely different character.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
I think for the fans, you know.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Yeah, Arnold Schwarzenegger was interested in reprising his character of
Dutch and a cameo, but he couldn't do to winning
the election for Governor of California and stuff and from
doing other cameos. Filming took place in Prague, and the
production made heavy use of miniatures and puppetry rather than
relying on intensively on CGI, And honestly, I think that
was a noticeable thing.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Like it looked good.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yeah, it looked you could feel like the practical sets
and stuff, even if they're miniatures at times, because like
two thousand and four, this is like right in like
the middle of like the Star Wars prequels and all that,
like heavy use of the CGI that is not.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Some of the CGI think that they did use was
really well made though, like the space scenes, some of
the reflections and stuff. They like chose when to do
CGI in a way that was like seamless with the
film and it made it look really modern.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Yeah. The film grossed one hundred and seventy seven million
against the budget of sixty five million, and as the
highest grossing film of either franchise at the time. Critical
reception is generally bad on Rotten Tomatoes a wholds of
twenty one percent. What praise went towards the film being
entertaining and it sets and effects. Criticisms went towards pretty

(06:23):
much everything else, especially the dark lighting of the fight
sequences and saying this was a poor attempt to revive
two dead franchises. What Another criticism was a PG thirteen
rating as opposed to an R rating. That there was
an unrated version that was released on DVD. But despite
the bad critical reception, the financial success led to a

(06:45):
direct sequel, Aliens Versus Predator Requiem in two thousand and seven.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
That's some trash ass opinions from some probably nerdy ass
dudes who didn't expect for everything to be a fucking
poor attempt to revive a dead franchise. Everything is that
now everything Okay, so if they did it first, you're
just jealous because they were successful.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Mm hmmm, that's fucked up now that everything is a
cinematic universe.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, and everything's a revival, nothing is original.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Uh, all right, let's break it down.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Deep space dive. Let's break down some of our thoughts
on the movie. You can share your thoughts with us
through email or social media. We may use your comments
on an upcoming episode.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Okay, first we start with the nerdy guy. I don't
know why we started with the nerdy guy. The nerdy guy, Yeah,
where they're like, ooh there's a heat waves.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Oh yeah in the observation room.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
Yeah. At first, we're like jumping all over the place.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Where we're like pick a storyline, bro.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Climbing the ice walls and the ice walls.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
I was like, the first thing I thought was like,
white people be crazy. Then it was a black woman
on the side of the wucking wislaw and I'm like, oh,
she proved me wrong.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
I'm going to hold my judgments for the rest of
the most.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Ever pretty much, which kind of like to me, it
harkens back to that Black explorer that is like very
famous for being like a black explorer and he led
people through the Arctic. So I wonder if they were
kind of referencing him in a way. Yeah, Matthew Henson,

(08:36):
And there's like an iconic images of him and like
his super furry jacket, And I'm just wondering if they're
like referencing that very famous black explorer with her like
lineage of being like this young woman who climbed a
mountain with her father and like is known for her

(08:57):
like ability to lead teams through extreme conditions and stuff.
I thought that was interesting. I wish they would have
like outrightly, like just said it. It would have been
kind of cool to give that history, like real history
instead of this made up kind of like aliens built
the pyramids kind of bullshit that we always hear.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Yeah, that's one thing I didn't like, Like, I don't
like when that kind of theory comes up, because it
just it takes away from the human ingenuity, the ingenuity
and like the just like the abilities of ancient civilizations.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Yeah, specifically black and brown civilizations that always get set
like people say, oh, that was aliens. There's no way
that African Africans or or Meso Americans or Cambodians or
any of these ancient civilizations would have had the technology
without some assistance from like other worldly beans. I hate that.

(09:54):
So I was like, ooh, ancient aliens.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
No, but.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Whatever. It was interesting that they showed that. I thought
he was Latin American in Mexico looking for artifacts, which
I kind of was like really into because it's like finally,
you know, like it's great to see people like discovering
their own history. But then it turned out to be

(10:26):
some Eastern European dude or whatever. Where was he from Italy?
And I'm like, oh, that's trash he has. Why don't
you dig up your own backyard. You have like the
Colisseum and all of Rome to dig through. What are
you doing in Mexico?

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Bro?

Speaker 2 (10:44):
So it takes quite a long time to get to
all the creatures.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Yeah, so there's like this little like you know what.
It reminds me of Atlantis the Lost Empire, where they
like we're gonna go look for this ancient city and
I'm gonna get the best digger, and I'm going to
get the best translator, and I'm going to get the
best this and that, and it totally gave Atlantis. I

(11:09):
don't know when Atlantis came out. Let me look it
up real quick.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
I feel like it's around this time.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Two thousand and one. It came out before, so they
stole the idea, Yeah, just say it so, oh go Well.
I like the little back and forth that she's like, no,
I need time to like train this crew because I'm
not going in there with a bunch of noobs. And
she's like, I'm leaving and he's like, are you sure,

(11:35):
because we really need you, and she like breaks down
and goes with them. She makes a lot of like
compromises to join them, and I thought that was interesting
that she was willing to do all that.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Yeah, I mean they kind of frame it as if
she doesn't go, someone worse is gonna take them and
it's gonna be more of a disaster.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
I mean it was pretty much a disaster. She was
the old one who walked away.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Yeah, only because she killed an alien.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
Yeah murdered, Yeah, she murdered literally. But yeah, so they approach.
This pyramid. To me, it looks more like ancient Maya,
like Aztec kind of pyramid. I personally didn't see any
Egyptian in there. Maybe a little Cambodian, but it was

(12:25):
just like, I don't know who their prop department was,
but it was just like heavily influenced by Indiana Jones mostly.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
Yeah, So they set this in Antarctica, and I think
a large part of that is like we can't have
like Earth knowing about aliens and stuff because they don't
know about it when we get to the Alien movie,
you know, m because I think at this time they're
still trying to be in continuity with everything.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
M hmm.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
But I just thought, don't the Predators need it to
be like extra hot?

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Yeah, that's like the whole thing about the Predators was
that they were like jungle people. Yeah, like this like
this African American coating of them being from extremely hot
places and they only appear in the heat. And when
I saw that it was cold and freezing, I'm like,
where are we going? And and then homeboys were like

(13:18):
in fishnets and armor, and I'm like I don't get it.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Yeah, So I thought like, oh, maybe like when they
get down inside the pyramid they're and be like, oh,
it's like super hot in here, but no, that never happens.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
And like to me, like the analogy of a battery running,
I was like, why wouldn't it be warm then, like
a little incubator. Yeah, And wouldn't it have been so
cool if they would have showed you how they did
the tunnel just like a tractor being thing just fucking
melting that ice. And I was so happy when that
guy slipped and slide down the ice. I was like,

(13:51):
fuck yes, And then she caught him with her ice pick,
and I was like, oh, what an icon she almost
she could have murked him, she could have gotten him
right in the eyeball, you know, so iconic.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Yeah, I mean the only thing holding this movie together
was her. Yeah, what was her name? Lex? Yeah. So
I can't imagine like the first half of this movie
if they didn't find a way to have like a
good lead like that. Yeah, the rest of these side
characters like that.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
Yeah, look like they really tried to like kind of
give you a story for some of these side characters,
but they fell short, and then their ending was just
kind of like eh, like the girl with the spiky hair. Okay,
she likes to carry a gun because she'd rather you
have it and not need it like a condom. I
wish she would have been like making googly eyes or
been more promiscuous if that was her thing.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
The gun didn't come back in the play either, like.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
No, And then like her red shirt, Like I wish
we would have seen her wearing the red shirt and
zipping it up and giving us like the symbology of
her unzipping it and showing her chest and having it
crack open like there was a lot and honestly, like
why was it a red shirt? Because the red shirt's
not going to show any blood. Should have been like

(15:07):
sunshine yellow.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Or something because she was a red shirt. Like in
Star Trek.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
Oh okay, there are the crossover of all time alien
versus Predator Star Trek addition, and then like the guy
with the camera, the camera, like she sees the camera.
I just like the part where he's taking a picture
in that pantry or whatever when he's in that room.
I thought they were gonna look back at that photo

(15:34):
and see the fucking alien. Yeah, I'm like we never
got back to that, and she never grabbed the camera
she never like, because that would have been fucking gold.
But I guess if they're trying to keep continuity straight,
then they can't have any evidence of the interaction.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Well, it still could have been destroyed later when the
bomb went off.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
Yeah, well I think it did because she never picked
it up. She found homeboy and then she found her
her that they were gonna like live together, and he
was like, kill me now, and I was like, oh man,
that sucks because I wish she would have lived too,
but she was the only survivor. And I feel like,

(16:13):
so this actress is very well known in black romantic comedies. Okay,
this is her bread and butter. She is like always
like this very beautiful, understanding kind of girlfriend that's like

(16:34):
just like lovable, very beautiful lady. And a part of
my brain couldn't divorce the fact that she is always
going to be the love interest. And to me, it
felt like they were trying to make it like the
predator fell in love with her somehow, and they were
like making googly eyes at each other. Did you feel that? No, No,

(17:00):
I think it was more like mutual respect.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Yeah, I mean I don't think. I can't read too
much of the predator, like they don't see their face
or anything.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Well, when he took off his face and he like
smiled at her and made his face, I was like, oh,
he wants her.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
I think he was trying to get her a show
fear and she didn't like, all right, let's getch you
his little facetat.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
Yeah. I think there was like a little bit of
a romance there. Also, why didn't those guys that came
to pick him up scan his ass like they scanned
everybody else to see that he had a fucking worm
in his gut? Like he literally saw the cancer inside
of that Whalen guy and was like, yeah, I'm cool
on that. I'm not going to murder him. He saw

(17:43):
the alien like the squirming around inside Redolso or whatever
his name was, Martin. I don't know that Italian dude. Yeah,
And so I'm like, where was this technology before they
fucking picked him up? Because now they got a fucking
alien editor hybrid on their ship. And I was like,

(18:03):
that's gonna make a really scary alien because I remember
in the Alien movie when they like crossbread with like
cows and shit, and it was weird and freaky. Yeah,
So I was like oh shit, and it was it
paid off. I like that they showed it too with
this little weird little bouse.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Yeah, so that's setting up the sequel and leave.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
You think, So do you think there'll be more human
actors because it's hard to like get any emotion out
of these characters, like the alien and the predator. Like
you can tell that there's animosity, but like one of
them is always wearing a fucking face shield and the
other one basically like goes wow and then like there's
a little extra little rou inside of it. Like so

(18:48):
it's just like there's no emotion, Like they don't have well,
like okay, alien doesn't have eyes that I can tell, so,
like I feel like your eyes are very emotive, Like
you can do a lot with your eyes as an actor.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
It's just got those two mouths.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
It's got those two mouths, no eyes. What the fuck
is it supposed to feel?

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Hunger?

Speaker 3 (19:08):
Yeah, a lot of hunger. And that's another thing. The
alien kills just to kill. It's not eating. It's not
like productive in any way. It's just like to make
more aliens.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Yeah, it's just like a parasite.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Yeah, And I'm like that sucks, Like at least, you know,
like zombies will eat the flesh of their victims. Vampires
will suck the blood out of you.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
It's just like ineduce you.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
Yeah, that's fun. Apparently vampires are like a recession indicator. Allegedly,
I don't know. Let's not talk about vampires.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
Okay. So when we did get the battle between Predator
and the aliens facing off, one complaint is like it
is kind of dark and it's very like gray scale.
Everything inside that pyramid is just like pretty bland in
that sense. I mean, the sets are still good, but what.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Do you want fucking Mexican like rainbows and murals and shit,
what do you want? It's a fucking ancient tomb. You
want it to be like colorful?

Speaker 1 (20:16):
What is this?

Speaker 3 (20:18):
I'm sorry, this isn't set in like, uh fucking what
is that place called? And there's one in Colorado and
in Houston the color Factory or something. What is it called?
Male Wolf? Yeah it's not a fucking male Wolf.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Okay, Well maybe it should have been. No, I'm just
saying like there's different ways to do the lighting and
stuff that it might have been.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
They were in a fucking two thousand, five hundred feet
down under the ground. I personally didn't find anything different
than when you watch the fucking Game of Thrones, where
you couldn't even fucking tell what was happening because it
was so fucking dark. Okay, oh my god, there's or
even let's think about the dark night That movie was

(21:04):
set with a fucking candle. They put a candle in
the corner and called it good. This is way better
than that. I'm so sorry, like and yeah, maybe, like
I think the African American people probably could have done
a little bit better with the lighting because it's very

(21:24):
hard to light darker skin sometimes, But I was okay
with it, Like, I didn't even notice that it was
that dark because I'm so used to seeing these other
very dark films like pick a Lane. Do you want
it dark and moody and make it like kind of
like sinister, or do you want it to be bright
and happy and lose the like any element of surprise

(21:47):
that we might have it's authentic to the setting, like chill.
I don't know why Gossip is so fucking dark, even
in broad daylight, but I haven't heard any film bros
complain about that. And maybe this is because the main
lead is a black woman that they're complaining about it.
They have to find something to complain about. I don't know,
but in modern like by today's standards, it's like a

(22:12):
normally lit movie.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
That's fair.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
I'm sure in like two thousand and four it was like, yeah,
very dark, but like now that's really normal. I mean,
if you're in a theater, it's going to have way
more impact if it's that dark, especially when you see
that lime green blood or the glow sticks or the
fucking torches or something like that, you know, like it's impactful.

(22:39):
I don't know. I've seen too many dark movies to
say this is like the darkest of them all.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
I wasn't saying that, No, no, I know.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
The criticisms, and that's why it's got a twenty one
rating on the fucking Rotten Tomatoes because it's too dark.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
It's ridiculous, and it's it's lower than like the Alien
three and stuff trash. I liked that all the aliens
went and freed the queen.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
I thought that was cute that they were like. I
like how they scurried on her.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
They were like scary, scary, scary, and I don't know
who was bleeding on her was it she Did they
cut her or did they cut themselves to bleed that
acid on those chains.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
That was confusing. Somebody was bleeding. Must have been too
dark to tell. Maybe No, it was just confusing because
they all looked the same, you know what I mean,
there's no like differentiating them. I did like that they
did put that fish net that that that net scarring
on that one, but they didn't do anything with that one.

(23:46):
I thought for sure after the queen was gone, that
that one was going to come back and try to
get her because that's my mommy bitch, and that she
was going to have to defeat one of the aliens
by herself again because she kind of like killed that
one on accident. Oh not like accidentally on purpose, but

(24:07):
it would have been cool if she would have had
like her own battle against that one with the scar
It just felt like they set stuff up and they
didn't follow through on it a lot of the times.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
Yeah, I wonder if that was like intentional. How do
we keep you like It's like we literally saw a
gun in the first act, you know, and Chekhov's gun.
That gun should have come back in the end, but
it didn't. What else the laying of the eggs very gross.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
Oh my god, that was like fucking disgusting, bro. And
then like, I don't know if the eggs have always
looked like this or if this was like a new
egg design, but the way that they opened up was
also like very uh, sphincter like. It was there was
a lot of sphincter like imagery in this one, which

(24:55):
was like off putting, Like you know, the egg lanes
was just like a tube, like it looked gross. It
was disgusting.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
Yeah, I don't. I mean, they've always kind of opened
up like that at the top, they kind of peel open.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
But they opened a little bit, not like super like usually.
I feel like they opened bigger, and this one just
opened like a little bit at the top, just a
little four corners, and the edges weren't as articulated. They
didn't look like they were like super sealed in the egg.
And it was weird because when she laid the eggs,

(25:32):
the eggs looked like fully intact, but then when they
were like getting ready to hatch, they're basically like these
very large gaps between the seals and like the little flaps.
So I think a little it would have been interesting
to see, like the eggs developing those little cracks or something,
the little stincters. But the face huggers looked classic and iconic.

(25:55):
They were even a little less pink than I'm used
to thinking of them because the lighting like made them
look very pale and gray.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Yeah. I do like that. We were dealing with like
our classic aliens.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Yeah, oh sorry, I'm just thinking of Romulus, that fucking
big ass geeky dude. Sorry, maybe that should have been
for the spoilers.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
That's okay, we've already covered Romulus. I don't know any
other thoughts on this.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
I feel like that actress needed to be nominated for
some sort of award. Did she get any nominations for this?

Speaker 2 (26:35):
I doubt this movie got any nominations except maybe like
a special effects or something.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
Because this is so outside of her normal like range,
because normally she's like beautiful, empowered, love interest pretty, and
in this one she was like dirty and like gruff
and like in charge and stuff. I don't know. I
wonder if this got her any more. Role is like

(27:00):
this badass lead. I don't think so. I can't think
of her and anything like this outside of this.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
Yeah, I'm not seeing anything regarding awards. I mean this
has changed a little bit, but I mean definitely twenty
years ago, a genre sci fi movie like this wasn't
really getting recognized, at least in the major award ceremonies.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
Okay, the last thing she did was Napoli. Ever after,
I think, oh wait, no, on the Come Up is
another one that she was in and the Supremes. Oh,
she's been busy. Okay, good for her. God, I love her.
I was excited to see her as the lead.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
Looks like she's been on some shows recently as well, Secession,
something called The Best Man.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
That's one of those romantic comedies. Jason.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
There's a lot of voice acting too. Let's see what
are we should we move on to the Astral Queen.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
Astral Queen? Who was the standout character in the film?

Speaker 3 (28:02):
You know who I'm picking.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
You're picking the Predator.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
No, no, I'm picking the Arctic Explorer.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Yeah, I think we're both picking. What was her name, Lexwoods? Lexwoods?
The smartest person in the show.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
She was hell bent on saving that old man because
she knew she wouldn't get paid.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
That's what she's thinking at the end. It's like, damn
I hope they already sent that deposit.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Yeah, at least all.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Right, So let me ask you. The sequel to this
is really bad. Oh no, you want to watch it?

Speaker 3 (28:42):
You think I won't like it?

Speaker 2 (28:44):
Well, I don't think anyone likes it.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
Oh no, what happened?

Speaker 2 (28:51):
But I mean I watched it probably around two thousand
and seven eight, so it's been a long time, but
I remember it feeling like a B movie slasher film.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
Damn. Now I have to look it up. Does it
have less a lower rateed than this one?

Speaker 2 (29:06):
It has a twelve percent on Rotten Denail.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
Oh shit, let's see who the cast is. Yeah. I
don't know anybody who's in.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
This and it was nominated for Golden Raspberry Awards.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
I mean, do we have to watch it? You're saying
I can choose not to watch it, but I feel
like we have to watch it. But it's just going
to be super negative, and I know you don't like
doing that.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
I would just feel bad putting us through it.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Well, what's next? Then pray? We skip straight to pray
or what?

Speaker 2 (29:36):
No, there's still a couple more Predator movies.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
Oh, but they're not the worst like this one. I
don't want to suffer through something that's awful. But I
feel like a part of me is like committed to
doing all of the Predator movies and all of the
Prey movies, or all of the Predator and Aliens because
we watch that terrible alien movie.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Yeah, well, all right, then I guess we gotta do it.
Oh God, trying to get us out of it.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
Well, I'm just saying it's not fair that we skip
one and not the others, Like we could have skipped
that one terrible alien movie, but we powered through it, right.
I remember having to take a fucking break because it
was so bad, And maybe we'll just do that too
next time.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
Yeah, it is only ninety four minutes.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
But that's still long time if it's bad.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
Yeah, so all right, all right, So then I guess
our next episode on all of these podcast channels will
be Aliens Versus Predator Requiem from two thousand and seven.
And then I guess I got a real short spoiler
section here. There'sn't even much of a spoiler than The
fourth Predator film, titled dub Predator, was released in twenty eighteen.

(30:46):
It features Lexwood's xenomorph bone Spear from the conclusion of
this movie on display at Project Stargazer, whatever that is.
I don't think I'm even going to make that a
spoiler section. I don't think that spoils anything, but it
just shows if there is continuity within the Predator franchise
franchise with these movies.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
Yeah, I think you said that in Pray they use
the gun or something like one of the guns comes back.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
Oh. Yeah, Pray has connections to Predator too.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
So I'm excited even if it sucks, this is fun.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
All right, Well, thank you for spacing out with us,
and remember whoever wins, we lose.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
As the tagline no, I like the enemy of my
enemy is my friend or something.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
I can also say you are one ugly mother.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Thank you for spacing out with BB and Jason. You
can help us out by subscribing and leaving a positive
rating or review. Next time we will cover the two
thousand and seven film Aliens Versus Predator Requiem. We hope
you will join us
