Welcome to spacing Out with BB and Jason this week
covering the twenty ten movie Predators.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Welcome to spacy now. I'm BB and.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I'm Jason, and we are discussing the Predator franchise. One
entry at the times spoiler free, and we're trying to
build up to Predator bad Lands, which is being released
on November seventh, twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Oh, we're working up to that.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Yeah, So if it times out the way I think
it will, we'll release our episode like a couple weeks
after it comes out.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Okay, cool, so we'll be trending.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Sure.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
You can find all the Predator movies on Hulu currently,
and we do reserve the right to have a spoiler
section at the end of the podcast in case we
do want to discuss any future movies in this series.
But in this film, the group of elite killers from
different backgrounds find themselves mysterious dropped onto an alien jungle world,
only to discover they're being hunted for sport by the
(01:04):
advanced extra terrestrial Predators. As they fight to survive, shifting
alliances and deadly traps reveal the true scale the hunt
and the Predator's ruthless tactics.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Nice vibe check. Did we like the movie overall? How
does it stand the test of time?
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Vibe check?
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Incredible, amazing, what a movie. I loved it really. Yeah,
I like I was telling you, like, compared to the
last movie, this is amazing and then the last movie's
dog shit.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Yeah, I mean the bar was on the floor. Yeah,
but I do genuinely like this movie. It's not the
most popular. It kind of comes in like average when
you look at how it's reviewed by people and stuff.
But I actually really like it, and it's the one
I've seen the most. I think it's probably the third
or fourth time I've seen it.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Yeah, I've never seen it before. What a star studded cast.
Holy shit, multiple award winners. Yeah, so like wow wow.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Yeah, And we'll talk about in the moment that this
comes from Robert Rodriguez.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Oh I love that guy. That makes sense now with
the intro, this to.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Me is the best so far. I do really like
that first Alien Versus Predator movie too, But yeah, this
is when I like, did you know that you used
to own this movie?
Speaker 2 (02:24):
This one?
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Yeah? How I remember you had this dvd?
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Ay?
Speaker 3 (02:29):
I Yeah, you also seem to have this like a
random collection of movies that who knows where they came from.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
So was it on VHS?
Speaker 3 (02:37):
I'm pretty sure is DVD?
Speaker 2 (02:39):
It was DVD. Yeah, yeah, I did have a random
collection of DVDs. Some of them were gifted, some of
them were not gifted, and some of them I bought
with my own money. So it's very likely that it
came from somebody who wanted me to see this movie.
I don't know, but.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
You wanted to wait till today.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Act ten years later, maybe even more, to be honest,
because I had collected those DVDs when I was like
in my early twenties, when DVDs were a thing. I'm
thirty five now, so you know it's DVDs aren't really
a thing unless you're actively seeking physical media. Yeah, so,
(03:22):
and it's hard to find nowadays. You have to go
to like thrift stores and stuff. But sometimes, like my
logic was just buying the title, like, oh I like
that movie, it looks like it might be good. That's
how I gained a lot of my physical media.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
I saw this movie in the theater actually back in
twenty ten, and I remember having I had to hunt
down like the first two Predator movies, going to like
Blockbuster Family Video, trying to find if anyone had this
on their shelves so I could watch them before I
went and saw this.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
One trivia time. Let's hear a little information about Predator.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
This was Predators, which originally premiered on July seventh, twenty ten,
Written by Alex Litback and Michael Fincho, and directed by
Nimrod Dental. This film is produced by Robert Rodriguez, who
originally wrote a script in nineteen ninety four for a
third Predator movie. The script was deemed too extensive the film,
but fifteen years later the studio called him and said
(04:23):
we're ready, and Rodriguez and Ntal originally said they wanted
the film to be a sequel only to the original Predator,
as the film is trying to distance itself from Predator
two in the first two Alien Versus Predator films, and
it kind of does that. It only really references that
first one.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah. I like that reference though, but was very good.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Yeah. The film was shot in fifty three days, with
exterior scenes filmed in Hawaii and interiors film that Robert
Rodriguez Studio in Austin, Texas. Most of These special visual
effects teams from the previous installments did not return for
this film. The creature suits were designed by Howard Berger
and Greg Nikottero, who would go on to be heavily
the Walking Dead franchise. Composer John Debney recorded many custom
(05:04):
sounds and instruments, including Tibetan longhorns, to create squeals and screens.
He also manipulated metal scrapes and ethnic percussion to further
highlight the advance, yet brutal and primitive quality of the
Predators in their world. The hunting dogs are based on
one of the creature's skulls seen in the trophy case
onboard the predatorship near the end of Predator Io. The
(05:24):
film grossed one hundred and twenty seven million against the
budget of forty million. Received mixed reviews, with criticism going
towards the cliched characters and praise going towards the action
and combat sequences. Then Robert Rodriguez confirmed that the studio
was interested in a sequel from him, but it never materialized.
A new Predator film, directed by Shane Black, released in
twenty eighteen and has little connection to this film, which
(05:48):
is said I would like to see them do more
in this direction.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Deep Space Dive. Let's break down some of our thoughts
on the movie. You can share your thoughts with us
through email or social media. We may use your comments
on an upcoming episode.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
All right, into the deep Jungle Dive.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Let's get thrown out of a flying object and not
know that we're falling until we wake up. One of
the things that I was like speculating at first was, man,
is Adrian Brody like a narc elliptic? Why does he
keep passing out? So I was like very confused, and honestly,
(06:32):
how they must have like an anesthesiologist predator that like
takes people out and like keeps them asleep for long
space trips. Yeah, that's crazy. And then like they adapted
this planet so that humans can breathe, but then all
of these other space creatures can also breathe on it.
(06:54):
So there's like a little suspension of disbelief that all
of the planets would be ox gen rich and livable. Yeah,
so I was like, hmmm, hm, I don't know. At first,
I did think it was Earth because there was plants
from Earth that nerd guy understood like, oh, well, this
(07:15):
plant is.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
If he recognized the plants and they had to have
like imported them. Yeah, so they have like a botanist predator.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Yeah, there's like a lot of hats you can wear
as a predator. You don't have to be a hunter.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Yeah, that's just the one we see in these stories.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Yeah. Yeah, there's gonna be like a cook predator and
a paralegal predator. What's their story? But yeah, so I
think our main character is obviously Adrian Brody and this
woman he meets because they're the last living survivors.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Yeah, i'd say so. I kind of I like that
this movie just like it drops you literally drops you
right into the plot. Yeah, and you sort of have
to figure out what the characters, what's going on, and
it doesn't require any knowledge of the previous films. No,
everything you need to know you're given during the movie.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Yeah. Yeah, it's a good standalone film for sure. And
the characters I think are really well developed in this
which is something that like comparing and contrasting to others,
like the last one, is very obvious, very evident that
these characters have a backstory, they have motivation, and there's
(08:33):
like infighting and there's like conflict within the group. So
I really like the dynamics of the group that they've
created with all these like bad guys, and I think
most of them are bad guys. Like one of them
is a secret bad guy to for Grace or whatever
his name is.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Yeah, I mean there's a lot of little twists in
this and I like that one because like it's like, why.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Why is this nerd here?
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Get all these like killers and criminals and stuff, and
then this doctor this wanted and not a medic It's
very interesting.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
So I really like the actors that they chose for
this too, So like you can tell that these people
are people with many accolades under their name, and this
movie is before those accolades, right, this is before they
became their famous selves. This is one of the stepping
(09:27):
stones that they took to becoming like this well known
actor that we know now for.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
Most of them, yeah, I think for a lot of them.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Yeah, because there's no way that like I don't know
how to say his name, but his last name is Ali,
the Muslim actor. Oh yeah, yeah, how do you say Mahershalali,
marsh Marshal Lali. Yeah, there's no way he would have
done his move maybe, but he played a really great
role in this as being kind of like the spiritual guy.
(09:58):
He's very spiritual, very knowing of like his cultural like
I don't know, like the way that he like talked
about like trophies and like he understood like some of
the dynamics between like the hunters and stuff. And then
I like that they added him praying when they stopped,
(10:19):
even though there's an issue with the compass, So so how
do you know if you're pointing east and the sun
is like in a fixed position for the most part,
So how do you know it's time to pray? So
it was just like very interesting that he's like, well,
(10:39):
I guess it's been four hours, so I need to pray,
but I don't know. It was good and then much
shit that was in there or Danny Trey hoo, Danny.
I'm really sad that he was the first one to
die because I feel like he has this capacity for
comedic relief that a lot of the other actors don't
really have. But I as the show didn't, the movie
(11:02):
didn't really call for that in this very serious, heavy plot.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Yeah, I mean I really like this kind of you know,
this group of like misfit people all thrown together. So
like as they started dying off, I'm like, man, I
kind of want to see them all like play off
each other more. Yeah you no, No, it's a horror movie.
They got to start losing people or else there's no threat.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Yeah. So Danny Trejo was the first one to die,
and they used him to lure the people in. So
we see that they can mimic sounds, which I don't
think we've seen too often in The Predators. We've seen
it once or twice.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
Yeah, it's like they're always trying to study the language
and why they haven't figured out English by now right.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Centuries but maybe maybe you know, they they've picked up samurai,
they've picked up people from different countries. It's very convenient
that all of the people that they did pick up
this around all spoke perfect English. Yeah, so like a
(12:07):
lady from Guatemala, a guy from Mexico, a Polish dude,
a Japanese guy.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
Well, I thought it was interesting that the Japanese guy, like, oh,
he doesn't speak English, he's just kind of going with them,
but then he does speak English.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
Well yeah, how would he even know to follow them
or be with the group? Like, well, I so either goers. Yeah, yeah,
but I didn't even notice the Japanese guy didn't speak
until then. Is that bad? It's because I was so
like entertained by everybody else that I didn't and he
had a presence even without speaking.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
He was really good at like communicating emotion and feeling
without saying a goddamn word. So I didn't even notice
that he wasn't talking or speaking until they called it out,
and I was like, oh, yeah, but I think it's
very ignorant to say, oh, well, you don't speak English,
that's why you don't talk. And I like that. He
(13:04):
showed him his hand and he's like, no, I talk
too much. Yeah, that was very clever. Oh my god.
And when fucking Lawrence Fishburne shows up, I fucking pooped
my pants. I was shook. I was like, what the fuck.
I've never like the fact that a human was using
the technology. Oh that blew my mind. And when he's like,
(13:26):
I'm behind you, oh my chills.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Yeah, you all talk too loud.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
Y'all talk too loud, and you stink, you fucking stink.
And he brought him in the he brought them into
his safe space. But then he was gonna smoke them
out to kill them. He was going to kill them
all with the smoke inhalation or what.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Yeah, I mean, I don't know that he planned it
all out. He was definitely unstable.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
So yeah, I like that little bit because I feel
like after a certain amount of time and isolation, you
would develop some sort of psychosis. So that tracks to me.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
Yeah, and I like that. No one was really like
hammering on it. They're like, yeah, this guy's been a
long long time.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Yeah, And like I do wonder how long these cycles
are though, because at the end of the movie there
were and there was another shipment dropped in. So is
somebody monitoring, like, oh, well, all the predators are dead,
let's drop some more. It's time for the next round.
Or do they when they kill everything they go home
(14:30):
and have a beer? What?
Speaker 3 (14:31):
I don't know because he talked about it like happening
in seasons, but surely like that was in one season
we saw, so.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Maybe we don't know, right, there's no way of telling
what a season is. Is it like a yearly thing?
Is it a quarterly review?
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Like?
Speaker 2 (14:49):
What is it?
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Like?
Speaker 2 (14:50):
How long do these like excursions last? Because surely they
have to go home to their families at some point
make little predators.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
Yeah, but we only saw when it was all that
in like a day, two days or something.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Well, a day in this world, how long is it?
Seventy two hours? We don't know.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Yeah, so nothing is established in terms of a timeline.
So there was at least two sundowns for sure. But
like I said, how long is a day? Because the
sun was out for how long? It didn't move for
how many hours? So we can't say how long a
day is in our concept of days here on Earth.
(15:32):
So two days on that planet could be two weeks here.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Sure. But just thinking about Laurence Fishwern's character, if he
says he's been there for ten seasons, I assume that's years.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
You think it's years.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
I don't think he's been there like three weeks or something.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
No, I don't think it's been three weeks for him.
But I feel like maybe maybe like five years give
or take. If they do it twice a year, it'd
be five years, because I don't I don't know. It
just seemed like very sudden that they were dropped more
fucking crates.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Yeah, which makes me think that like it's part of
the same hunting season. What they're doing. This didn't drop
everyone at the same time.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Oh well, I'm I mean, this has potential for so
many different character interactions if they were to do this
like another sequel with the same vein and maybe, but
I mean, they can't afford eighty and Brody again, and.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Surely could maybe. I think he was already known at
the time, not.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
Not for his like most iconic role. I don't think
The Pianist.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Pianists was two thousand and two, eight years before this.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Really yeah, oh man, he got buff. Man, that guy
really makes his body go through it then, because I
remember him and The Pianist, he was so so skinny
and it was so so scary, and in this movie
he was super buff. That's crazy that these actors are
capable of like manipulating their body through diet and exercise
(17:03):
to fit the role in such a way. That's so believable.
I don't know. Yeah, So that means that his casting
in this movie probably helped the movie do really well
in the box office too, because he is like a
very well known actor and this is I don't know
if I've ever I don't see him as a action
(17:25):
star personally, No, not a whole lot. No, but like
like like his physicality, his his his demeanor to me
doesn't say action star. You know. He's not like Bruce
Willis or like Arnold Swatzenegger, you know, Sylvester Stallone, where
that's kind of like their type cast.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
No, I mean I think he's done like a lot
of Wes Anderson movies.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
And yeah, he's more like an indie star, like very
very demure, kind of like kind of highbrow kind of guy.
Not that action stars can't be highbrow, but it's just
not I don't see that. It was interesting to see
him in a role like this, you know. Yeah, and
I like the casting, I really do. I think that
(18:12):
was one of my favorite things about this movie, just
seeing all these like very different types of people interacting.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Yeah. I remember at the time I had just watched
like all of that seventies show, so I'm like, oh,
now Toferd Grace is a movie star and he's in
a Predator movie. What the hell?
Speaker 2 (18:31):
Yeah, this is definitely a departure from that seventy show.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
And then Walton Goggins character, I'm surprised I didn't kill
him sooner because he was so unlikable.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
The prisoner. Yeah, I kind of liked the prisoner. He
was weird. He gave weird, like kind of spidery energy,
and from what I was reading about him, he's a
method actor, so I'm sure that him on set was
probably just annoying too, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
This guy keeps talking about cocaine and rape, and.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Then he has this tattoo of his sister allegedly that's
so crazy, and then he wants a gun and no
one wants to give him a gun. He was the
comedic relief for me in this film.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
I assumed he would get a gun at some point
when other people died.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Nah, he stayed with his shiv. I like that. He
had a shive from jail. That was really good.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
Yeah, they didn't like re arm anybody like, they just
sent them with the weapons that they usually have.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Yeah, this is what you carry, this is what you're
going to go in with. So toe for Grace, having
a scalpel was very like knowing what we know now
is very telling of his weapon of choice.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
So what else did we see? We saw the have
predator dogs.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
And then they have those weird creatures that look like
an extended chupacabra. What the fuck was that?
Speaker 3 (20:01):
I don't know, I don't I don't feel like we
even got that explained at all. No, there was just
Laurence Fishburan told us how there's like some sort of
blood feud going on with the two different types of bread.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Right, and we saw that. But there was that other
thing that he killed. Yeah, what was that thing?
Speaker 3 (20:16):
Just some creeper?
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Creeper? It was so weird and fucking Laurence fishburd Man.
I really love I really really loved his character. And
I was so sad that he went out that easy.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
It was like he lived for so long and he
had survived those hellish conditions and they just fucking killed
him in a fucking hallway. That sucks.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
I wish he had a more epic outline too, like
you finally got me, motherfucker.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Oh his dialogue? Yeah yeah, yeah. I like all those
traps that they stumbled into early on.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
Yeah, yeah, those traps were fun. It gave like a
little bit of Indiana Jones, kind of like Temple Run.
And then I really liked when they did find the
camp and she recognized the predator from the stories. That
was really cool. How she had recognition of, like this
(21:14):
creature is real. And I like that they did do
a callback to that mud at the end too, because
her story came full circle when she told him like
the way he survived is he covered himself in mud.
And that's how Adrian Brodie. He lit some salt on fire,
something neat. He made a circle of fire and he
messed with his sensors used to fire and mud, so
(21:39):
very like caveman early man kind of shit, you know,
no weapons of like like literally no guns. Used one
of their own weapons, which was like an axe kind
of cho chopper thing. I don't know it was. It
looked like an axe, but it also had like blunt
(22:00):
end on the on the one side. So I really
like that that he was like using the technology against
him and that's how he was able to get an
upper hand.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
Yeah, I'll say. Though, notably, she told that story about
how they use the mud to and then they never
and they don't like put it.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
On, They don't use it until the end, and then
they leave tracks behind everywhere. So I thought it was
interesting that they could track them, but they couldn't track
them to the oil rig or whatever. The drilling machine
that Laurence Fishburn took them to so that was very interesting.
And I did like that they killed a couple of
(22:42):
them kind of Kamakazi style. Were that one guy exploded himself.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Yeah, and I like the sword fight too.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Yeah, the sword fight was epic. I feel like like
we're like for a guy who had the least amount
of lines to have one of the most conic death
scenes in this film. A chef kiss chef's kis. I
loved it.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
That sword finding is called kindo and they were trained
authentically in it.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
That's cool. You could tell that he practiced.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
What else?
Speaker 2 (23:13):
What else? What? What? What not else?
Speaker 3 (23:17):
What?
Speaker 2 (23:17):
What do you think Laurence Fishburn fed them? And why
did only one person throw up? What kind of vegetables
or fruits was he getting? Was it stone soup? Did
he poison them or was it just somebody couldn't handle
the food.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
I think that, you know, there's stomach for unsettled.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
Yeah, the smoke got to them. I don't know. I'm
just like my mind is reeling from all of the
emotions that I went through in this film where I
was like feeling with the characters, like when she finds
out that tofer is a bad guy and she can't
say or move or do anything about it. And you
(23:57):
were really really worried that Adrian Brodie's character was gonna
be his victim. And I'm like he was probably talking
loud enough that he heard the whole dialogue. I'm a freak.
So it was really good. I loved it and I
love that I Well, there was one thing I had
an issue with where where they kind of said it,
(24:18):
where they're like, where the predators, that's why we were chosen.
That was kind of late, like duh, let us make like,
you know, don't don't tell show. And I think they
were doing a good job about showing. I don't think
they really needed to like put that out there.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
Yeah, it feels like a note someone gave, like make
sure you put the name of the movie in this ript.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Is it clear that they're also predators?
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Yeah, like obviously the Yakuza, the fucking military, the cartel, Like, yes,
they are all bad guys except for Tofa Grace. Apparently
he's just a dummy.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
He knows his plants. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
I thought when he was doing his dialogue about like
when he was like do you regret it? Would you
make the same decision again. I thought he was gonna
like reveal that it was him orchestrating this and he
was trying to find the best of them, and that
he was going to give her a prize or something.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
Like.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
He was so good at concealing that he was a
bad guy.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
He thought he was like Willy Wonka.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Yeah, I really did. I was like, oh my god,
he he knows the predators. Yeah, like that's why he
hasn't been able to die because he knows the predators.
And he set this up so that, you know, they
can learn to be better people. That's what I thought
it was gonna be. But then he had he turned,
(25:44):
he took out the scalpel, and I'm like, oh, man,
he's a bad guy.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
No.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
Actually I got the clue when he pulled out the
picture of the Polish guy's family.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Oh is that what he did?
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Yeah? That wasn't his kids. That was the Polish Guy's family.
And he's like, I have kids. Those weren't his kids.
He was lying, and I'm like, that's a weird lie. Yeah,
that's a weird lie. That's a weird thing to say.
But he's a manipulator. I don't know. I feel like
they're never gonna get off that rock.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
Yeah, it's assuma be a cycle. They're gonna now be
in Laurence Fishburne's position.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
I don't think they're gonna be as mean or rude
or killie yet, but they're definitely surviving and now they
have knowledge. But like, is the next group of people
going to be similar in that they're like assassins and
killers and quote unquote bad guys, and like, how do
(26:42):
you convince them to be on your side? Right? I
think we saw that when the Polish guy started shooting
at them and he snuck up behind him and put
the gun to his head and he's like, we're on
the same side. So it's just I don't know, Like
I kind of like that they left it open like that.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
Low. Yeah. Unfortunately, this movie, I don't think it resonated
enough with people that they're going to like return to
this storyline, like we got to finish that.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Oh yeah, but I liked it. I really did. And
I feel like you could tell this story the same
story so many different ways, so many iterations of the season,
like even like a prequel, a prequel like with Laurence
Fishburn's like fourth season or something that's crazy.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
You said that just now as I was reading that,
when they were talking about potential sequels, that they had
a lot of ideas, including a prequel following Laurence Fishburn's
character around.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Yeah, because he's I mean, he's ageless. For one. He
looks the same every fucking year you see him, So
it'd be really cool to see him scavenging and like
gathering those grenades and you know, surviving. I don't know,
I really like this movie, I really do. So I'm
kind of excited to see what else this franchise brings,
(27:59):
because has been doing really well too, like Romulus was
really fun.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Yep. So after this, there's another movie called The Predator,
and that one we'll see. We'll see, okay. After that,
we get to Prey, which we both have seen. Yeah,
I like joy. And then there's an animated movie called
Killer of Killers.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
Are we watching that?
Speaker 3 (28:17):
I think so? It's the same same writer director as
Prey and bad Lands, So.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
Man, you know what, I think I would like an
animated film because the green blood in this world looks
so fake. It looks so fake it was fucking and
why does their blood glow like a fucking highlighter stick, Like,
you know, maybe it's bright green when it's in the
veins pumping through their bodies, just like our blood is
(28:45):
like a different color when it's in our veins, and
maybe when it's exposed to like oxygen, it turns this color.
But it's so unnatural. I wish it was just like
dark green goo, like real, like it gives me slam.
I'm even like Nickelodeon slime instead of that CGI bullshit.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Like what evolutionary advantage was there to their blood glowing
like that?
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Their blood bright green too, so like if you bleed,
then you're going to leave a trail of bright green
goo that's going to be easily tracked. I don't know,
not so evolved are we?
Speaker 1 (29:25):
Astral Queen? Who was the standall character in the film.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Who's your astral Queen, Jason?
Speaker 3 (29:33):
I don't know. We have a lot of good characters.
I know some of them left pretty early. Yeahchoose them.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
I don't know, they're all so good. I kind of
want to give it to Laurence Fishburn for living so long.
But then again, Adrian Brodie kicked a hess and then
that lady went back and saved that.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
Dumbass yeah, that's I'm leaning towards her. Isabelle.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Yeah, I don't know. I think I like Adrian Brodie's
character the best because obviously he's the lead, but also
like his character development was really interesting and his ability
to predict and be aware of their movements and stuff
was really well written and well executed by him as
(30:22):
an actor. I really liked He's like, oh, well, you know,
I had to lure them in. I had to figure
out how many there were kind of shit. So yeah,
I'm going to give it to what was his name, Leonard.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
Who was not Royce Royce, we didn't get their names, saliend. Yeah. Yeah,
I like Isabelle. She cared more about the group.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
So, as I just mentioned, the next episode will be
The Predator from twenty eighteen, I'll be followed by Pray
and then Killer of Killers and then Predator Badlands, which
so many movies I.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Know, right, Holy shit, we really committed.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
