(00:00):
Sorry, we're low on shopping carts. They haven't sent us new ones in
a while, and a bunch ofours got busted because some teens turned them
into BattleBots. Oh yeah, sothen on YouTube do that kids survived?
Oh well kinda, they couldn't fullyget the wheel out. So welcome to

(00:23):
Cloud nine Superstore Podcast. I'm Jasonand I'm BB and it's time to talk
about season six, episode thirteen,Lowell Anderson, which aired on March eighteenth,
twenty twenty one, Written by ReneGube and Josh Melmoth and directed by
Kabir Aktar. And as you know, this is almost the last episode.

(00:45):
Next week is the two final episodes, so send in your thoughts when you
watch it, let us know whatyou think. Yeah, you can email
us Superstore Podcast at gmail dot com, us on Facebook or Twitter at Superstore
Pod and we'll talk about it.Yeah, it's crazy that this is finally
coming to an end. Bittersweet forsure. Yeah, I think we were

(01:07):
starting to get that feeling in theepisode. Yeah. Do you want to
talk about the episode before we getinto the like finality of it. Yeah,
I mean, off the top,how do you feel about it?
It was okay, not one ofmy favorites. But I like that they
featured like Sandra and Mateo and them. Yeah, I'm kind of in the

(01:32):
same boat. It wasn't It wasmaybe like the weakest one of the seasons
for me. It started funny, kind of I wish they would have gotten
on this guy who was eating snacksoff of the floor for not wearing a
mask. Yeah, that could havebeen like a viral moment too, because
we've seen so many like Karen's andlike Jim Bobs grocery stores that are like

(01:57):
not wearing masks and they get confrontedby employees and it just kind of explodes.
Yeah, and that would have beenkind of an interesting take on that,
you know, because he just walksin and he's above the rules the
whole time, and yeah, andthen he has horrible ideas. Yeah.
I think that's like the part ofthe episode. I just wasn't all that
interesting to me or all that entertainingto see him be a dick. Yeah,

(02:22):
you're Lowell Anderson. This is LowellAnderson. Cool. The more I
hear it, the more it justsounds like a furniture store, like the
son of Doug Anderson, the founderof Cloud nine. I wish there was
more like conflict between him and Cheyenne, Like it was almost there, yeah,
like it was starting the build.Yeah, it should have been more.

(02:44):
She fell flat and it was sosad to see her not really like
own that space in a way thatwas like up in his face, you
know what I mean, Because youcan tell that she's had to deal with
dumb ass bullshit living with a motherfuckerlike Bo that she should know how to
shut shit down. But she went, she whimpered, she withered, and

(03:07):
it was just so disappointing and dishearteningto see her doing that. Let's take
everything out of the boxes, everythinglike in the whole store. Maybe we
should talk the idea through before wedecide if it's good. And then she
calls fucking Amy. I was justlike, whatever, whatever. I think

(03:28):
she could have handled that. ButI'm glad she called Amy because I know
they're tying her into the last episodes. And they tied Amy in with Jonah
too, so that makes sense,I guess. Yeah, So I guess.
Another just interesting point on Cheyenne islike she didn't have any like funny
lines this episode. I don't feellike she's like she usually gets some like

(03:50):
good singers in there. She wasa straight man. Yeah, she was
being the serious one against this ridiculousguy. Yeah. I didn't like it.
There's a sense of like maturity. No, No, that loses her
luster though, Like she's she's kindof like the unexpected airhead who's a genius.

(04:12):
Yeah, she's like ditsy and kindof like the funniest thing she said
was give me Trinity's number. Youknow, this is so mess but your
hair looks really good and if youcould text me Trinity's number, that would
be great. Yeah. No,and she she just I don't know.
I hope they don't like take awayher like fun loving energy for the new

(04:34):
show that she's going to be likethe star of. Basically, I'm a
little nervous about that because I knowthat she's going to have a white male
lead next to her, and I'mworried that like he's gonna overpower her in
a lot of ways in terms ofthe character development and writing. Yeah,

(04:54):
and she's going to have to bethe the one that's always like squishing and
like conforming to him, and shewon't have any of her own ideas or
thoughts. It'll just be him.Kind of driving the plot, and I
just I'm hesitant to kind of engagein that. I'm not worried yet because

(05:15):
it hasn't happened, right, Yeah, not thinking too much about it if
you don't know where. There's aspinoff potentially coming called Bow and Cheyenne.
But yeah, I'm kind of Iwant to see where Superstore leaves. Everybody,
do you have to pee before weget started? Nope? No,
last chance? Oh actually no,I have to pee? Yeah. Yeah.
The craziest or the most like outthere thing that she was doing was

(05:38):
wearing that sweater. Yeah that's reallysweater. Okay, well let's talk about
what we do like okay, yeah, coming in negative. Sandra is still
really invested in the Jonah and namingrelationships. She is shipping them to this
day, and she like whiffed alittle bit of a online surveying from Jonah

(06:02):
because Jonah caught wind that Amy wasin the mountains from his current girlfriend.
Oh did you talk to Amy?Yeah? Her connection was terrible. I
guess she's in some cabin up inthe mountains. Oh nice? Nice?
Did she happen to say who shewas there with? Work retreat? Big

(06:23):
group? And I didn't ask whynothing? And he goes on social media
like rabbit hole, and we findout that Sandra has a board of like
all of her favorite images from theInternet that she prints off and puts up
on her wall. I've been monitoringher social media for months. I print

(06:43):
out the good ones and I putthem up on a board. How she
is aware of everybody's regular social mediaaccounts as well as their fins. Does
I even know about everyone's fick accounts? Huh? People have fake accounts.
It's weird, is it? ScottMcPhee who only follows organic farms and influencer
under her ladies. And she's notjust like excitedly watching this as like a

(07:06):
fan. She's like ready to movein and make things happen. Yeah,
she's ready for them to get marriedand him to like, you know,
swoop in and take her out andpropose. She's ready, She's been ready,
and she kind of I think, led him, like she pulled him
into her world a little bit.And at the end of it, like

(07:30):
Jonah was like, I don't wantto have a relationship with Amy to that,
and Sandra says, then what arewe doing this for? I'm over
Amy? Okay, and I'm withHannah, Now what the have we been
doing all day? And I thinkthat was a question that Jonah never asked
himself, and that you could seethat he was like, Oh, what
why am I doing this? Yeah? Why am I invested in? What's

(07:54):
up to? And is it creepierthat? Like, is it more or
less creepy that he was trying tofind out who her daughter who was a
teen Maybe a little bit, buthe was also like living there and was
involved in that was there? Yeah, Like I feel like being somewhat in
touch with them isn't the weirdest?Yeah? I guess definitely more so with

(08:16):
Emma than the Parker. The youngone. The young one don't have no
social media account though, right. It was funny though that they did find
the last clue with Emma being hashtaghigh in the Mountains. Yeah, although
I am concerned about hashtag high inthe mountains? Do you think Emma's smoking
pot? Again? Who cares? What matters is that Amy's single? And

(08:39):
that was when we did get hisrole in the relationship with the kids as
like a concerned kind of guardian sayinglike, oh, do you think she's
smoking pot again? I hope notkind of moment. That was funny because
I definitely heard that hashtag and itwas like, are they not going to
acknowledge what that probably means? Ididn't even think about it. I'm usually

(09:03):
the one that's doing that kind ofthing, So that was funny. She's
one of those like double meaning thingsher mom can see and her friends can
see and have different ideas. Yeah, so yeah, there's that aspect.
And we all said Jonah and Hannah, and we really kind of saw that
she was not really responding when hewas trying to be have like a deeper

(09:24):
connection and express like, hell hewas feeling I don't remember that too much
when they were at dinner, shewas when he tried to kind of open
up, she wasn't really being responsive. And then he pivoted back to Carol
and then she like livened up again. That's true. Last year was tough,
and being here with you is it'sbetter. It's it's a it's a

(09:46):
lot better. I mean, obviouslyif Carol were here, that would be
best, that would be the idealscenario. Oh do you want me to?
That connects her all the about Carolin that relationship, and he was
trying to feel it out. Iguess maybe that's what's driving him back to

(10:07):
Amy because he had a more deepconnection or something and they were together for
a long time. That could beit. I think he was trying to
tell her like, I'm I'm happyin this relationship and then that just kind
of fell flat on her and it'sprobably gonna drive him away. Yeah,
well, I just I don't know, like maybe she just doesn't understand the

(10:30):
depth of that, you know, like what he means when he says that,
because she has no idea that hewas like stalking his ex like a
couple of hours ago. So she'skind of an oblivious person to that whole
reality. And so when somebody saysI'm happy in this relationship, that's like
uh duh okay, Like what areyou gonna get for an appetizer? Or

(10:52):
do you want dessert? You know, So it might be something like that.
She's but she's like a lawyer,so she should be a I don't
know she'd be able to pick upon that. I don't know. They
haven't been going out that long either, though, true, but I wish
Jonah would be more honest about like, hey, you know, it's been
a like I was in a longrelationship and this is something that means a

(11:13):
lot to me, and that wouldhave been a different conversation. But he's
so bad at communicating, he reallyis. He's always confused about how he
feels too, anything else. No, No, let's move on. Dina
and Garrett and Brian girl, Ohmy god. So Dina's just like,
I want to talk a little bitabout the meeting before this happened, where

(11:37):
where Lil Anderson comes in and tellseverybody to take off their vests and he
tells Matteo to take off his cardiganand put on a T shirt. Yeah,
wear one of these like a customerwould. The only thing I like
more than beer is twins. Don'tyou already have that shirt at home?
Because even though everybody else was likedressing down, Dina's still in a three

(12:03):
piece suit, and for that's likekind of hilarious to me that she was
able to kind of get away withthat. Sandra was about to take off
her polo too, was pretty funny, but that was just funny to be
But yeah, so she comes upin her fucking three piece suit looking like

(12:24):
a lady from the seventies and shejust nonchalantly says that she's no longer like
interested in her partner physically or emotionally. And she's laying all this out to
Garrett, whose advice was to justlike, you know, she's trying to
break up with him, and hesays, do it quick, just make
it quick and clean, rip offthe band aid. Wow, quick and

(12:48):
clean. You cannot wait for meto be single? Oh no, that's
not what this is about. Lookat you. You're literally glowing at the
idea, okay, which is likeI think her want, Like she's projecting
hard. Yeah. I liked thesection where everybody gives advice too on how
to break up and how they've beenbroken up. Just don't use any of

(13:09):
those insulting cliches. You know,it's not you, it's me. Yeah,
or I think we'd be better asfriends when I look at you while
I see a Shrek. Which onedid you like best in terms of humorous
breakup? Oh, Matatos obviously, because he wants to make them break up
with you instead by starting fights.Be easier. Just let him break up
with you, me, me,and start pointless arguments. It's actually super

(13:33):
fun. And he said it wasso fun, right, did you catch
the one where he said you looktoo much like Shrek? That one was
pretty funny and kind of hurtful. So Dina tries it right, She tried
like several of those. I didn'tthink I was going to get emotional,
but I'm not too emotional. Yeah, and she just couldn't nail it down

(13:56):
in the Zoom call, which Ithought was interesting that she was zooming the
breakup right. And I wonder howmany breakups happened via Zoom through this pandemic.
I don't know. I thought itwas so funny when she just started
closing the laptop slowly too. It'slike virtual ghosting. It's hard to fake

(14:18):
a bad connection or something on Zoom, is it. I don't know.
I haven't tried phone call. Yeah, that's true, but that kind of
drives Brian, right, that's hisname, to call Garrett and kind of
talk to him because I guess they'reclose because they were in a truple.
I don't understand why Garrett's call.I feel like Brian has always looked like

(14:43):
very positively on the whole Garrett situation, and Garrett has always probably found it
a little weird and like doesn't wantto interact with Brian that much. Yeah,
I feel like Brian's a really niceguy who thinks Garrett is like Dina's
best friend and lover, and he'slike totally cool with that. That's he
was like okay with that polyamorous situationthey had going for a minute, because

(15:05):
he loves Dina and he wants Dinato be happy and he cares about that
a lot. So I thought itwas really funny that he called Garrett and
Garrett broke up with him for Dina. Basically, Brian, you're a solid
guy, and if by some chanceDina doesn't see that anymore, you'll be
fine. You're a vet that'll begreat on the dating apps. You'll have
pictures of dating apps. Do youthink she is trying to break up with

(15:26):
me? He like prepped her, prepped him so that it was easy for
her to do it. And thenwhen he hung up the phone, he
slowly turns his phone back to himand he's like bye eep. And then
Dina takes him out on a datecasually, like just like very Dina,
like like very forcibly dating you.But I mean, also to add to

(15:48):
the the Brian thing is she doesuse one of the cliche lines, and
like you're too perfect for me.I'm not ready for that. Yeah,
and he didn't take it in theway that everybody else. But that is
like the nicest thing I've ever heardsomeone say to me. I mean,
I'm like flattered. You know,if you're not ready, you're not ready.
But is there any chance that maybeyou could get ready? Like over

(16:11):
time? No, that's how greatyou are, which whatever, that's nice.
Getting broken up with is not fun, but you know that person's not
into you. It's it's less funto be with somebody that doesn't want to
be with you and they're with youout of like I don't know, pity
or yeah, I mean at leastshe didn't draw it out and she actually

(16:32):
did get it done. Yeah, and didn't like have him come on his
surprise visit and all that, right, because then he would if he would
have gotten COVID at that store pickingup one of them towels, that motherfucker
blew his nose into. Oh Ihate that guy. That guy was so
gross. What do you think aboutLynn's hair? I love it? Fluck

(16:53):
of seagulls anyone? No, okay, well, it's very that giving me
eighties. Uh, definitely different. It was very interesting to see gar Glenn
talking about his Sturges and Sons hardwarestore. Again, my father had a
hardware store. Sturgis and Sons andCloud nine undersold us and put us out

(17:18):
of business. But my dad said, you were always a gentleman about it,
even talk him out to dinner onthe night that the store closed for
good, because we've known about it, and we've talked about how big businesses
and corporations kind of kill mom andpops and how because we got more information
about how that came to be interms of like the store closing and Loel

(17:42):
L. Anderson was actually involved inthe deal where he manipulated and humiliated his
father. I didn't exactly buy yourdad dinner that night. Truth is,
that night I offered your dad achance to save his store. I told
him I'd stop under selling him ifhe could prove he could run with the
big dogs by eating a can ofdog food. It was very funny.

(18:04):
What's the funny part? But heate the dog food and I closed his
store anyway, I mean, youget it. But his father never shared
that with Glenn, which probably madeGlenn's transition into store manager a lot easier
and something that he could be likeeven proud of. He like, when
he first saw loll Anderson, hewas like fangirl, you know, just

(18:25):
like all about that guy. Andthen at the end of the episode,
he's like making that guy eat dogfood for all the other little guys that
you shoved around. So yeah, you eat it to jerk. Yeah,
I mean he was pretty willing toeat the dog food. Yeah. No,

(18:45):
no, I gotta finish it.All the best draft settles down to
the bottom. It was like, there's something deeply wrong with that individual,
and I wish there was somebody orsomething or some way of making him feel
bad. Like there's not a lotof redemption or justice in this episode for
that, you know what I mean, And so like it just feels kind

(19:08):
of empty the sending because of that. I mean, the episode felt like
a little bit of filler and alittle bit just like we need to set
up a few things. Yeah,we got to set up some plot devices
and give some information. Mostly itwas about Jonah getting ready to take Amy
back or something, and Glint,Dina and Garrett getting together and showing that

(19:36):
Cheyenne has the capacity to be wiseand kind of stand up to people.
Yeah, this doesn't seem to beworking at all. Yeah, that's what
I said. Well, there wasno way we could have known. I
wish it would have been a littlestronger, or that there would have been
like a store effort to kind ofget back at this dude, because the

(19:56):
whole store was like struggling because ofhim. Yeah, and it was just
trash that nobody there was no justice. And then at the end of it,
he even gives them a final blowin saying that all cloud Nines are
gonna shut down and that he wasjust basically being an ass to all of
them, and that was just kindof I don't know, it was.
It was something that made me feellike this was a low moment for the

(20:21):
store and the people in it,like they had a shitty day. Yeah,
like Elias broke that TV, youknow, because everything was unboxed.
That's so stupid, so stupid.I could I could understand like you wanting
to have like displays of the blenders, but not like unboxing everything, and

(20:41):
I like, yeah, they havedisplays, they have this, so it's
it just felt really contrived and like, I don't know, it was kind
of cute to see them opening allthe toys though, because it felt like
they were doing Christmas. Then there'sa lady that was trying on all the

(21:03):
face masks. Oh that was oneof my Oh yeah, that was a
lot that was That was one ofmy fate like callbacks to like when they
used to do those customers doing shittythings in the store that are very real.
I saw her. As soon asI saw her sniffing and holding that
mask, I'm like, she betternot, she better not, And she

(21:26):
did it. She took off thatmask, put it back on the display
shelf, and put on another one, and I was just like, oh,
people, they will do this. There's still things in here that were
funny. And it's not like anepisode I despise or anything. No,
it's not hated. It's just likeit's not one that I'm gonna be like,

(21:47):
hey, you should check out Superstorewatch Anderson. No, yeah,
it's I mean the guy is likevery well known to be funny, but
he didn't come off as funny inthis episode. Just came off as a
dick, and not even a dick, like a dumb dick too. And
he didn't even look rich, likethat's the worst part about it. I

(22:07):
think like they didn't even try tomake him look rich or eccentric in a
lot of ways, because usually they'lllike make a guy wear a fancy suit
and some weird shoes or something, you know what I mean. But yeah,
I don't know. And then obviouslywe got a little bit of amy
at the end. I just thoughtI'd run it by you since he said
that I could call you for anything. Yeah, that that is weird.

(22:32):
Let me see what I can findout. We rarely go outside of the
store, and it was interesting tohave that. It could have been a
zoom call, but it was.It was a phone call, and they
showed her on set in a kitchen, and that was very different. Kind
of took us. It took meout of it a little bit. Yeah,
we see why she's coming back tothe store. Yeah, they're going

(22:53):
to investigate or figure out what theheck Zephyr is going to do with Cloud
nine and why they haven't got thecarts yet. I don't know, I
mean, and store sales have beendown because of COVID, and it would
kind of explain my corporate hasn't sentthose replacement shopping carts. I want to
know what happened to that viral video. They said they couldn't get the wheel
out of that kid. Yeah, like what the world? Very story,

(23:18):
Yes, and that was like whatI want more of Cheyenne to come from,
you know, Like she was tooserious and I hope they don't keep
her too serious in the next chapterof her television career. All right,
anything else? We got a messagefrom someone who goes by City and it
says, hey, BB and Jason, amazing podcast. So good. BB

(23:40):
and Jason have different opinions on thingswhich are really funny. Yay, we
do. I love that we're onthe same page on this episode. That's
yeah, we really were. Yeah, we definitely definitely will when we see
more Amy. Yeah. I havea lot of opinions about that. And

(24:03):
that's not that I don't like AmericaFerrera as a person or because I don't
know her, right, I livein the middle of nowhere and she's like
a Hollywood big shot, But Idon't know just the way that the writing
comes out in the show. Sometimesit's just very self serving, and sometimes
it's even demeaning to the characters, specifically like the women of color. Like

(24:26):
it's gotten better I'm thinking of howthey used to write Sandra specifically, But
yeah, I would love to seehow Carol's going to resolve this. I
wonder if that's like part of thething that's like bankrupting superstores all over.
It's like a lot of like lawsuitsand different things like that, and i'd

(24:47):
love to see like the end ofthat. Is Carol going to get a
happy ending? I don't know.I mean, I feel like Carol almost
has to win something in her lawsuit, so I think she will, But
I'm also wondering, like if she'sever forgive Sandra or move on from having
Jerry. I don't know. Dowe have any predictions to throw out?

(25:10):
I think that Garrett and Dina aregonna be like dating hardcore super in love
nasty, And I think that whenJonah sees Amy, he's gonna dump the
Redhead and then there will be likethis wrath on the superstore that they will
never see again, like this woman'swrath with Carol and the Redhead together,

(25:33):
like they will like burn it all. But Jonah will end up with Amy,
and then Glenn is gonna I hopethey bring Jerusha and and Bawl to
the final episode. But I knowwith COVID that can be hard. But
I really love Jerusha. We've alreadythis season, so I like I feel
like, especially they're gonna roll intothe next one. Yeah, they got

(25:56):
a kind of that. I wantsuper sort of stay, have an ending
to it that works if there's noother content with Bow and Cheyenne or anything
else. Like, I want theending to work. I don't want it
to be like setting up the nextthing, kind of like how Scrubs University
was done. Yeah. Yeah,I'm thinking of like that last Star Wars

(26:19):
movie. I was like setting upfor a Lando series and things like that.
Just just let it in. Yeah, let it be its own thing,
let it stand alone. Yeah,I know what you mean. Yeah,
that'll be. But I do wantto see Jerusha. She's so good.
She is so funny every time thatshe's like we've only had her like
two or three times, but theactress is incredible. That character is iconic.

(26:44):
And Glenn, I don't know,he's been there from the beginning and
I feel like and he's still there. They've really shown recently like that he
has had a rough time. Yeah, especially with this like finding out about
like the whole like reality of whathis father went through when the Cloud nine
store came to be. So maybeGlenn is gonna open up his own store

(27:08):
and hire all these people who workthere. He'll open a co op and
they'll all be owners. Yes.Is there anyone that's like been gone from
the show for a while that couldmake a comeback. I don't know.
They already brought Jeff back, whichhe could be more involved if the store's

(27:30):
closing, right, Yeah, itcould be an episode where Brett talks.
That'd be a good thing that whatdo you think? Like, Yeah,
I mean I hope that he sayssomething either really really funny or or just
really really mean or insightful. Butyeah, that would be the way I
would kind of close it off.Is Brett saying something like giving a speech
or something. Yeah, I meanwe have a really lost main character except

(27:53):
for Amy and Myrtle. Yeah soyeah, so I mean probably Jonah and
Amy if not getting back together, maybe like a hint of it. I
guess they'll do something with it.They started with it, they'll end with
it because they're nasty like that.Maybe at the end they'll turn off all
the lights and all those little glowylights will show up again magically. Yeah,

(28:21):
and then Dina and Garrett for sure. Yeah, we'll see y'all in
the next episodes. The last coupleof ones. All right, well,
