and Chamberlain. A fantastic week or so in star Ascot
first for the King George. Onto the cut out Goodwood
Festival next week till we'll be previewing both Ed Chamberlain.

it must be said Audie, which I'm sure we'll touch upon.
I just wonder how asker will feel about the King George.
I'll try and interview Nick Smith during the show or
get all Ey to do it, just to ask how
he feels about it, because that's good. Obviously got so
much right in the role. Meeting was a huge success,
but we've got King George without a sponsor. They put

a lot of money in this had the new free
entry system. If you run you get your entry fees back,
and they've got five runners, one of which is a pacemaker.
So it'll just be interesting to get Nick Smith, who's
always very honest and always a really good interview, just
be really interesting to get his take on it.

Yeah, it's not a three year old inside either.

That's the biggest miss of the lot, isn't It's a

Yeah, but JC, we have got this rematch, this Jan
Brugal the Calandergan round two after the culination cull. How
do you think it will play out this time around?

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Well, first of all, hello everyone, I'm still reeling. I'm
reeling from the news that Premier Racing is being slimmed
right down from this news, what an amazing thing this
sport is. Anyway, let's concentrate on the racing. Okay, let's
get off the fence here. I think Alandogan will win

(01:52):
and win well, and if Jan Breugel Yan Brougel wins,
then I'll be losing on the race. Can any remember
the last billy you might be the man for this.
Coombel might have done it. The last horse who won
in group one last time out, who gets head gear
for his next start, He gets cheap pieces first time.
That's a rare occurrence. And I think Klandigan's body of

work overall and especially his ask at record, and is
his relative speed, his ability to quit and should be
the decisive factors here. And we know this half a
length between the big two, and it's more than a
big two of this race, I think and hope we
know this half a length between them on Ebsen. But
I think the setup for Kalandergan here is likely to

(02:39):
suit him better than Yan Rogels. So we'll go round
the table and get everyone's opinion. But I think Calandergan
will win and I think Calpana rather than Yan Brougel
is the big danger. And the runners thing is it's
not a new thing for the King George. Is it
we enable beat two runners one year? Didn't you for

one of her three wins? Was it the COVID year?
I don't know, but I know there was a three
runner race, but it's at one point. But the fact
that we haven't got a three year old a lock
the big miss there is regrettable and it's an interesting
topic for discussion. We you know, we we can't seem
to to find anything like the number the depth of
runners that we used to get for the King George

many moons ago. It seems as if too many of
the potential qualifiers are based in one hotel, aren't they.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
It certainly boils down to that, doesn't it, And believe
that they're running too continuous there to set the pace.
It went worked to a perfection Apps and can pull
the trick off again.

Oh.

When I was looking at this to us earlier on
in the week, lady, I was pretty convinced I was
a bit like gc Attaka and Agan was going to
win it. But I have come around to Jan Broudle
and it's principally because they've put cheap pieces on them.
I think this horse will actually really benefit from a
side of hegear like certainly over this trip. You know,
he is a little bit awkwardly. He does tend to
have a slightly awkward head carriage at times, and he

can't race a bit lazily. But I do think the
application of cheek pieces will really suit him. We know
what they're going to do continuous. He's not the newer
archetypal pacemaker, but he will end up making the running.
He'll go pretty hard in front and Yanbroyder will sit
in behind him and it's just a case of catch
me if you can then I'm sure Ryan will go
for home plenty soon.

Speaker 7 (04:22):
Enough, and he's a hardhearse to pass, and I think
the cheap pieces will help him.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
And although callan Agan was very impressive in France the
last day, I think it's very easy to pick holes
in that form. And I just think Janbroidle coming in
slightly fresher, I think he'll win again. I have come
right around to thinking that he's the one to beat here, Belly.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
I I could be being overly harsh on it. He's
won four group races that have been by a neck
a neck, a neck and half.

Speaker 6 (04:48):
All end, so it could just be that he does
just enough and no more. Yeah, I think I think
that probably is. And you know, we can pigeonhole as
a stare. But he's only ever run farther than a
mine and a half once in his life. He said
five wins. He won twice in the miner in the
quarter and twice in mone and a half, so he's
not short as pace either, and I'm just hoping that
that cheap pieces will bring out a little bit more

improvement from him.

Ed I would never dream of mentioning things that you
might crowbar into the ITV coverage. But if I were to,
I might say, Billy, that might be able to Is
he the last remaining high quality sun of Galileo running
around at the moment, jam Brougo, I think I think
he might be. That's the case. It's twenty four years

tomorrow since Galileo got the better of a mighty tussle
with Fantastic Light in the King George. So if this
is the last of the group one Galileos, that that's
quite a neat little subplot, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
You will definitely hear that afternoon, There's no question about
that scene.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
My scene set to set for quick rewright as well, Scoop, Scoop,
how do you say this King George playing out school?

Speaker 8 (06:02):
Yeah, it's fascinating, isn't it. I know there's no three
year old there, but it's it's not like one of
those King George is where enabled took on too Ballydyle
horses that didn't really have a chance. It's a tough
one to unravel. I tend to agree with GC on
this one in that I just think Calandergan might have

(06:22):
too many gears around this track. For Yambriuger, I think
it's obviously more conventional than Epsom and then there was
a hint of a tail swish from Calandergan at Epsom
wasn't there and in finished second four times in a row,
and people perhaps questioning his attitude, But I just felt
that that day Yan Brigle got the absolute run of

the race. I didn't think land Agan handled the track
very well and I can easily see that that form
being reversed now. I do think the biggest danger to
him is is Calpana.

Speaker 9 (06:52):
I think she'd be a huge player.

Speaker 8 (06:54):
If we'd had more significant rainfall, the ground might just
be a little bit quick for her. But yeah, I
would see cland Agaan within this.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Ever aligne from you on Rebel's romance. We haven't really
just upon the child every bit. And how do you
see the Greg race unfolding?

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Finally interesting, I've come to Rebels romance in a minute.
The Coronation Cup working out and the King George is extraordinary.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
And you look back at the record.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
In the race, day LAMI the last to do the
double and yet so many horses have been beaten at
Epson totally different track of course, and come on and
win at Aska Pile Driver did it recently Swains Doyen's
and others have done it, and that's very much in
Kalandergan's favor this time around.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
With Kalparna, I'm just she's coming along nicely.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
I jest think Andrew Balding's working back from one race
and one race only when they will get their ground
at Long Shan on Sunday in October and Rebels romance
adds so much to this race order. He's a bit
of a savior for me big picture wise for the
King George this year, because he's such a popular horse
for one and his CV is so extraordinary. I wrote
down his seed this morning. Two Breeders Cups, three wins

(08:02):
in Germany, a UAE Darby Ashima, classic wins in Hong Kong, Kata,
Glorious Goodwood and rale asked last time. A remarkable race horse.
He's rock solid. I think Bwitt will serve it up
to them in the strait. I would think I'll hit
the front at what at some point, but I'm in
the cland again camp. I think he'll come wide and late.

(08:24):
We know he loves ask for me. He's the solid one,
but there's a bet for me. I'm going to get
the points out to ask it on Saturday Orday, but
not in this race. This is this is a King
George to just watch in my opinion and probably not
have a betting.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
It's right. We need to get a few points out
in this podcast today Tuned write this down as well
ed swaying enable hook em all won the King George
of six year olds. They've been running this race for
seventy five years or thereabouts. No no galloper aged seven
has ever won it. So just swaying enable and hook

them all six. But Rebels romance is seven. It was
too close to a real searching pace in this race
last year. That shouldn't be an issue this time and
he should run his race. But it feels like it
feels like third to meet Rebel's romance, and I could
be wrong, Billy.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
We spent ages trying to work out what's gonna happen
in the Eclipse. Tactically, Tody Daiden and as it transpired,
the horse we thought would lay it end up last
and quickened up to win. Tactically, the King George looks
very straightforwarding it. We think continuous well continues will go
forward and the brugl will look to attack early.

Speaker 6 (09:36):
Well, yeah, that seems to be the logical explanation already. Yeah, continuous,
poor all continuous. I feel sorry for him every time
I see him turning up. No, you know, relegated to
this pace maker role, which as I've said before, he's
not particularly good at. He's not particularly sharp over to
the stalls. But he will be roasted up and he
will go very hard in front, and he'll take them
a long way into the race. And that's probably what

they want. Rebels Romance. We know the's to race prominent.
He'll be on the shoulder, Yan Bryder will be close
to the pace, and you'd have to think that Barcelona
will just try and beat them for a turn of
the foot. With Caland again, I must say it was
a bit disappointed with Calipiana the last day Alreday.

Speaker 7 (10:11):
I thought she ran really well, that had Tarsall's Gold Cup.
I thought she came and had every.

Speaker 6 (10:15):
Chance to beat Whorland the pretty poly and couldn't do it,
having loomed up to come and win her race. So
I was a little underwhelmed with that performance and I'd
be interested to see how she gets on on Saturday.
But having seen her at the cord of the last day,
I wouldn't be all that keenan backing her. But yeah,
like you said, that's the way the race is going
to work out. And I think it's going to be
a torough test.

At the trip.

Baldly Dinald wanted to make it a really good test
at the trip and I think they might just tee
it up for themselves again as they did the Coronation Cup.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
And the pace is really important. This is going to
be a race running a much faster time than the
Coronation Cup. Coronation Cup was running genuine good to soft ground.
It's very severe uphill run for the first five thurlongs
or so, and they clopped two minutes thirty six point three.
I think, yeah, two thirty six point three for the

Coronation Cup, they'll probably it might beat two minutes thirty here,
So it is. It is in relative terms, more of
a test of speed than the racy one at EPSOM
last time.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
I was watching jac the other day, the eighty five
King George where you've got also shout at the triple
Crown winner, that winner Rainbow Quest dueling down the straight,
but they got racing three out and Potoski comes in
and picks up the piece is a big price. You
cannot ask on kin if you'll get rolling too soon. Yeah,
don't houses that chance.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
It's Barcelona on canand again, and he's I think he's
going to have to rely on his mount's ability to
produce one run and try and win it in the
final furlong. So I think it'll be continuous. Jan Brougal
rebels Romance and Klparna and canand again, hoping to come
and call.

In fascinating King George cant wait to see it, can't
wait to find out, Chamberlain. Where these Ascott points ahead?
And I'm senting the Interstal handicap.

All in on the Bumbery cup Ardie and I was
very keen on More Thunder you might remember, but I
actually backed Alto on the day. That was a painful,
painful watch and in the race my eye was drawn
continually to Billy Joe now.

I know he's a bit of a rascal, and I
know he's not the.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Bravest, but I love the booking of Tom Mark one
for Mick app will be here, and he watched back that.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
Bumbery Cup, and I know he can be a bit
of a money Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
It was unlucky, and in a in a way more
thunder was fortunate because Billy Joe just got blocked everywhere
he went, and it sometimes helps him because he then
runs on. But I just think he's in really good
form at the minute. I'd rather back him at double
figure price than a Alto or Alto who was forty
to one chance that day. Would you believe he's now

(13:02):
a five to one chance? And I just think Billy
Joe if Tom markin can hold him up and get
a little bit of bad but not as much bad
luck as he had in the Bumbery Cup, and then
deliver him late, very very late. He ran okay in
this race last year and he was favorite. It says
eighth in the form book, but he was pretty close
up eighth, And I just think he's in really good
nick at the minute, and this race could be running

(13:23):
a ferocious gallop and Mark could just deliver him late
six places already six places or whatever sky Bet will
offer a He's an absolute knock each way, two points
each way please, Billy Joe.

Speaker 4 (13:35):
Okay, right, can I if it was going to be
one way, but Cunningham convinced me they've got to come
out today. We Alto is the one here. I'm sure
he's going to run a massive race. People will say, oh,
he doesn't have the ascot form. If they say that
they haven't watched last year's race, watch it back. He

was desperately unlucky not to finish right on the heels
of the main place. A torrid run all the way
through on the back of his Bumbery Cup win, and
this year's Bumbury Cup performance was tremendous. He took on
what many people considered the most progressive six seven furlong
horse in training. He traveled beautifully, he was clear of

(14:15):
the rest headed by Billy Joe, and he's five pounds
well in and he's got big Bill buick for the
first time. No knock on Joe Leavy who did everything
right at Newmarket. But this horse is in the form
of his life and I think he's bound to run
well and doesn't do any harm to have a couple
on your side, so I lad certainly a one point

(14:35):
win Alto. I think he's he's prime to run a
huge racecond since Ben's he's champion at the bit to
jump in here. Have you got a third one? You've
got you've got a third string to the bow.

I was looking at Billy Jay myself, but he's got
a long losing run head that he'd have to be
an h way.

He's constantly straight all the places on offer.

Yeah, I thought Dave mar had an interesting one in
this race.

Sad a big price.

He's not run at Ascott, but I think he looks
like he might love Ascott. He's a kingman and he
he likes to find a bit of trouble in running himself.
He's a bit like Billy Joe, but I think he's
he's well handicapped his next Gosden House and he's a
huge price. He's twenty five to one, but he's in
good form as well, and you can't have enough strings
to your bow in the International. I don't think we've.

Got Billy's an Irish house can put up as well.

Yeah, this is a This is a tough one because
the Skybet York States is a race that has seen
you know, this type of favorite beating you know, quite
a lot over the years. And al mcam we've seen
in miss races all season because of fast ground and
the ground he is trying out on the knaves Mayer
and we could end up edging back towards good to

firm will ed Walker even even running in that scenario,
we shall say hopefully he does turn up because when
he beat on Budsman at sand Down earlier in the
season in the Brigadier Cheryard, he looked like a horse
that was going places, certainly a group one eventually, and
you'd think that's that's the way he's going. It might

be in the might be in the autumn when we
see the best of Almacam. I just think because his
price is so tight and because his form worked out
of ural Ascot, no one's missed him and just edging
towards taking him on with the ground right and I'm
still on in an iron with witch horse that you like.
You said, there's there's quite a few three year olds
in there that are interesting, the likes of Bay City

Roller for George Scott and Standout Gardens for Ray Beckett.
I thought one that is looking a little bit over
price was was not a three year old but an
older horse. Royal Champion for Cal Burke, who's who's got
previous in this race. He was close up behind the
owen Burroughs winner Al al Flaylor. Not last season, the

season before and obviously he's been out to Australia and
he's come back, but he looked good on the old
weather earlier in this season. I think there's excuses for
his running the Prince of Wales his last time, where
he was right on that fierce pace. I think you
can put a line through that run, so a bigger
price Royal Champion might be might be worth looking into.

And were you not in there with oh, I can't
believe that.

I do not believe that. I thought I was going
to be on my own with that one, scoop.

I'm amazed because I first looked at this and I
thought I've got to give Stanhoe Gardens a chance here
because I fancied him if he'd gone for the Eclipse.

You remember on that podcast when we tipped numerous non runners.

But this is one for your whirldpool. I mean, this
is why the podcast should have been in the top thousand.

Three year olds in the sky At York Stakes, the
last winner six.

Yeah, the first ever renewal of the race. Three year
olds just don't win.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Do not win the York Stakes for some reason, So
I'd be happy to take on the three year olds.
I think Al mccam's a crazy price. Everyone's all in
on the onwardsm form, but the rest of that race
at Sandown was no great shakes, was it? And odds
on on that ground not for me, Clive, not for me,
And I just think champions a huge price for the
reasons laid out by Stoep.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
I think you can put a line through the Prince.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Of Wales the states that performance, and he had his
other horse, the horse he was trying to think of Skip.
I think enst in the race and he's gone with
Royal Champion, which is ye and he's gone with Royal Champions.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
So in Carlbert we trust.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
I don't think they'd run Royal. Ryan keep quite a
no strong view on this race from a punting point
of view, But don't forget it has turned into a
dawdle with a capital D more than once this race,
doesn't it. So I think it would be very sensible
to keep it simple with the favorite and go forward.
He was very comfortable in front at Sandown and to

(19:40):
avoid any any you know, real sit sprints where tactics
are more important than actual you know, merit, then I
think they should go forward with him and try and
try and prove that he's as good as he looked
at Sandown, because he looked really good that day, Bill.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Billy, how do you see we've got screen impact for
Jesse Harington as well, lasting in the starby plenty good
form to his now.

Speaker 6 (20:02):
So yeah, certainly on ratings already it looks pretty open
and shot because Alan mccam if you can run anything
to like the figure he did last time, ultimately being
onwards man, he's very much known to beat here. I
think he's got about seven pounds later on time form rating,
so he sets a pretty high standard for everything else
to him at very much the horse to beat. If
he is to be beaten, I think it might be
by one of the three roads, because I think all
three of these you can make a realistic case for.

(20:25):
Basically he roller and really well in France the last
day Stanhope Gardens I thought ran a cracker in the
derby and dropp him back to a mind and a
quarter will probably suit him. And Green Impact is a
horse that I just don't think for one reason or
another we've seen the best of him as a three
year old this year. Yet remember he beat Delaquas as
a two rold at leopardsone last year.

Speaker 7 (20:41):
That form looks really good now. He won in his
second start this season.

Speaker 6 (20:48):
At Leopardstown, then ran in the Irish Derby and you
couldn't say he didn't stay in the Irish Derby, but
he certainly didn't improve for the step up to.

Speaker 7 (20:53):
A mile and a half. So I think it's you know,
clearly the stable.

Speaker 6 (20:59):
Decided that Mount and a half isn't this thing that
dropped him BA to him Mount and the quarter straight away.
This should be probably his optimum trip. I think he's
a little bit better than you shown this year. Trip
and ground is ideal for him man and Jesse doesn't
send him unless she thinks he's got a chance, so
I could see him running well. But all things being equal,
already I think Alan mccam will win this. I think
he's he's going to be very hard to be.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
Here, right, let's stick the kind of put in a
word for the sky bit dash Oh god, you can
jay so wide open race.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Obviously people will look at you know Elman Jed then
consistent Pocklington who was really well backed and Newcastle and
only just failed. He's still likely raised. I haven't got
the exact number I should have messaged Nile Hannity. Nile
Hannity told me when we were on air, Ruth Carr
at York this year is something like five from nine

(21:49):
and when you consider they're all wide open handicaps that
she's contested, she's not winning the maidens or the group races.
It's quite a stat rousing. Encore provided one of those
wins at the main meeting, and he did it in
really tidy style. He was unlucky at Epsom in a
very messy race. He ran pretty well at Ponty. But
I think back to York and sixteen to one of thereabouts.

He's horse who should be shorter in the betting.

He's he's in.

Tremendous form and I think he'll go well in a
in what's a really odden race, but I haven't got
the time look it up. That stat for Ruth Carr.
I think I think she's about five from nine at
York this year and.

Order would that be enough just out of interest for
the skypit Go racing in the Yorkshire Week tipping competition,
would that the enough for us to hit the front.
It's a nightmare scenario GC at the minute. Olibell Leeds,
which is just about the worst possible scenario.

Yeah, you know the answer to that, scoop. It's been
lamentable in the words of David Laments.

The thing that's equally sickening is that oliput up. It
was a race share winner that he's put up at
fourteen to one?

Which is when we had to take down all the
adverts for the spot in Advancing Club that olib after

Would get on the back of a line for a
ten At that point.

He'll certainly go to the kat out Goodwood Festival for
his rich ITV payday and it's a fantastic meeting. We've
got to look forward to a bill in US. I'll
start with you because the Tuesday features the Goodwood corp
Its Phase two of Illinois the Staying Project. What did
you make of phase one in the Gold Cup with him?

Speaker 7 (23:37):
He ran really well for a long way.

Speaker 6 (23:38):
I'm not quite sure he started the trips, certainly didn't
see it out as well as torna Man, but two
miles around good Will be much more like his coup
of tea Ordy and I think this is where he
should he should start to cement his positions as one
of Baldy Dye's top stairs. No, I think this race
looks tailor made for him. I think, you know, probably
the Ascar Gold Cup was was never the plan with

Illini this year. I don't think, you know. Obviously Kyprios
unfortunately had to be retired, so he was parachuted into
that race having not possibly been trained, you know, ideally
for it.

Speaker 7 (24:10):
But I think this was always going to be the
plane rom after the Ledger last year.

Speaker 6 (24:14):
He was always going to make a cup horse, and
I think two miles on good what should be ideal
for him. So if he has recovered from his exertions
at Ascot, he's had plenty of time.

Now you should think you would think so.

Yeah.

I think hopefully now we'll see a truer reflection of Illinine.

I think this is a good fit for him this race,
and that's the key if he's recovered, because I won't
go as the melodramatic and centralam and broke him. He
really made it hard and if you watch the video back,
it's not the first time he's edged right, but he

You need a lot of look around Galway in any race,
and you need plenty of horses that you know it's
it's one of the most unique tracks ever for purses

for courses. If a horse handles Galway once, they usually
go back and do it again. So really interesting week,
loads of big races. I just had a quick look
at the plate and the hurdle. They're as competitive as
you would expect them. But I do like the look

the plate that they think will run well. And that's
the company sergeant for Gavin Cromwell. He's a horse that
