Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is sporting life.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Well, welcome along to the Spartan Live Racing podcast. Everyd
Our jump back Badlin for Graham Cunning and Billy Nash
and Chamberlain. A fantastic week or so in star Ascot
first for the King George. Onto the cut out Goodwood
Festival next week till we'll be previewing both Ed Chamberlain.
Busy time for you and an exciting one too.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Yeah, really good week or so, isn't it really looking
forward to good with next week?
Speaker 1 (00:31):
As always Saturday had askers it's an.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Interesting day tomorrow, really good day at York as well,
it must be said Audie, which I'm sure we'll touch upon.
I just wonder how asker will feel about the King George.
I'll try and interview Nick Smith during the show or
get all Ey to do it, just to ask how
he feels about it, because that's good. Obviously got so
much right in the role. Meeting was a huge success,
but we've got King George without a sponsor. They put
(00:57):
a lot of money in this had the new free
entry system. If you run you get your entry fees back,
and they've got five runners, one of which is a pacemaker.
So it'll just be interesting to get Nick Smith, who's
always very honest and always a really good interview, just
be really interesting to get his take on it.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Yeah, it's not a three year old inside either.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
That's the biggest miss of the lot, isn't It's a
great shout.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Yeah, but JC, we have got this rematch, this Jan
Brugal the Calandergan round two after the culination cull. How
do you think it will play out this time around?
Speaker 4 (01:31):
Well, first of all, hello everyone, I'm still reeling. I'm
reeling from the news that Premier Racing is being slimmed
right down from this news, what an amazing thing this
sport is. Anyway, let's concentrate on the racing. Okay, let's
get off the fence here. I think Alandogan will win
(01:52):
and win well, and if Jan Breugel Yan Brougel wins,
then I'll be losing on the race. Can any remember
the last billy you might be the man for this.
Coombel might have done it. The last horse who won
in group one last time out, who gets head gear
for his next start, He gets cheap pieces first time.
That's a rare occurrence. And I think Klandigan's body of
(02:16):
work overall and especially his ask at record, and is
his relative speed, his ability to quit and should be
the decisive factors here. And we know this half a
length between the big two, and it's more than a
big two of this race, I think and hope we
know this half a length between them on Ebsen. But
I think the setup for Kalandergan here is likely to
(02:39):
suit him better than Yan Rogels. So we'll go round
the table and get everyone's opinion. But I think Calandergan
will win and I think Calpana rather than Yan Brougel
is the big danger. And the runners thing is it's
not a new thing for the King George. Is it
we enable beat two runners one year? Didn't you for
(03:00):
one of her three wins? Was it the COVID year?
I don't know, but I know there was a three
runner race, but it's at one point. But the fact
that we haven't got a three year old a lock
the big miss there is regrettable and it's an interesting
topic for discussion. We you know, we we can't seem
to to find anything like the number the depth of
runners that we used to get for the King George
(03:21):
many moons ago. It seems as if too many of
the potential qualifiers are based in one hotel, aren't they.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
It certainly boils down to that, doesn't it, And believe
that they're running too continuous there to set the pace.
It went worked to a perfection Apps and can pull
the trick off again.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
Oh.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
When I was looking at this to us earlier on
in the week, lady, I was pretty convinced I was
a bit like gc Attaka and Agan was going to
win it. But I have come around to Jan Broudle
and it's principally because they've put cheap pieces on them.
I think this horse will actually really benefit from a
side of hegear like certainly over this trip. You know,
he is a little bit awkwardly. He does tend to
have a slightly awkward head carriage at times, and he
(04:03):
can't race a bit lazily. But I do think the
application of cheek pieces will really suit him. We know
what they're going to do continuous. He's not the newer
archetypal pacemaker, but he will end up making the running.
He'll go pretty hard in front and Yanbroyder will sit
in behind him and it's just a case of catch
me if you can then I'm sure Ryan will go
for home plenty soon.
Speaker 7 (04:22):
Enough, and he's a hardhearse to pass, and I think
the cheap pieces will help him.
Speaker 6 (04:26):
And although callan Agan was very impressive in France the
last day, I think it's very easy to pick holes
in that form. And I just think Janbroidle coming in
slightly fresher, I think he'll win again. I have come
right around to thinking that he's the one to beat here, Belly.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
I I could be being overly harsh on it. He's
won four group races that have been by a neck
a neck, a neck and half.
Speaker 6 (04:48):
All end, so it could just be that he does
just enough and no more. Yeah, I think I think
that probably is. And you know, we can pigeonhole as
a stare. But he's only ever run farther than a
mine and a half once in his life. He said
five wins. He won twice in the miner in the
quarter and twice in mone and a half, so he's
not short as pace either, and I'm just hoping that
that cheap pieces will bring out a little bit more
(05:10):
improvement from him.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
Ed I would never dream of mentioning things that you
might crowbar into the ITV coverage. But if I were to,
I might say, Billy, that might be able to Is
he the last remaining high quality sun of Galileo running
around at the moment, jam Brougo, I think I think
he might be. That's the case. It's twenty four years
(05:35):
tomorrow since Galileo got the better of a mighty tussle
with Fantastic Light in the King George. So if this
is the last of the group one Galileos, that that's
quite a neat little subplot, isn't it.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
You will definitely hear that afternoon, There's no question about
that scene.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
My scene set to set for quick rewright as well, Scoop, Scoop,
how do you say this King George playing out school?
Speaker 8 (06:02):
Yeah, it's fascinating, isn't it. I know there's no three
year old there, but it's it's not like one of
those King George is where enabled took on too Ballydyle
horses that didn't really have a chance. It's a tough
one to unravel. I tend to agree with GC on
this one in that I just think Calandergan might have
(06:22):
too many gears around this track. For Yambriuger, I think
it's obviously more conventional than Epsom and then there was
a hint of a tail swish from Calandergan at Epsom
wasn't there and in finished second four times in a row,
and people perhaps questioning his attitude, But I just felt
that that day Yan Brigle got the absolute run of
(06:43):
the race. I didn't think land Agan handled the track
very well and I can easily see that that form
being reversed now. I do think the biggest danger to
him is is Calpana.
Speaker 9 (06:52):
I think she'd be a huge player.
Speaker 8 (06:54):
If we'd had more significant rainfall, the ground might just
be a little bit quick for her. But yeah, I
would see cland Agaan within this.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Ever aligne from you on Rebel's romance. We haven't really
just upon the child every bit. And how do you
see the Greg race unfolding?
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Finally interesting, I've come to Rebels romance in a minute.
The Coronation Cup working out and the King George is extraordinary.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
And you look back at the record.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
In the race, day LAMI the last to do the
double and yet so many horses have been beaten at
Epson totally different track of course, and come on and
win at Aska Pile Driver did it recently Swains Doyen's
and others have done it, and that's very much in
Kalandergan's favor this time around.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
With Kalparna, I'm just she's coming along nicely.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
I jest think Andrew Balding's working back from one race
and one race only when they will get their ground
at Long Shan on Sunday in October and Rebels romance
adds so much to this race order. He's a bit
of a savior for me big picture wise for the
King George this year, because he's such a popular horse
for one and his CV is so extraordinary. I wrote
down his seed this morning. Two Breeders Cups, three wins
(08:02):
in Germany, a UAE Darby Ashima, classic wins in Hong Kong, Kata,
Glorious Goodwood and rale asked last time. A remarkable race horse.
He's rock solid. I think Bwitt will serve it up
to them in the strait. I would think I'll hit
the front at what at some point, but I'm in
the cland again camp. I think he'll come wide and late.
(08:24):
We know he loves ask for me. He's the solid one,
but there's a bet for me. I'm going to get
the points out to ask it on Saturday Orday, but
not in this race. This is this is a King
George to just watch in my opinion and probably not
have a betting.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
It's right. We need to get a few points out
in this podcast today Tuned write this down as well
ed swaying enable hook em all won the King George
of six year olds. They've been running this race for
seventy five years or thereabouts. No no galloper aged seven
has ever won it. So just swaying enable and hook
(08:59):
them all six. But Rebels romance is seven. It was
too close to a real searching pace in this race
last year. That shouldn't be an issue this time and
he should run his race. But it feels like it
feels like third to meet Rebel's romance, and I could
be wrong, Billy.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
We spent ages trying to work out what's gonna happen
in the Eclipse. Tactically, Tody Daiden and as it transpired,
the horse we thought would lay it end up last
and quickened up to win. Tactically, the King George looks
very straightforwarding it. We think continuous well continues will go
forward and the brugl will look to attack early.
Speaker 6 (09:36):
Well, yeah, that seems to be the logical explanation already. Yeah, continuous,
poor all continuous. I feel sorry for him every time
I see him turning up. No, you know, relegated to
this pace maker role, which as I've said before, he's
not particularly good at. He's not particularly sharp over to
the stalls. But he will be roasted up and he
will go very hard in front, and he'll take them
a long way into the race. And that's probably what
(09:57):
they want. Rebels Romance. We know the's to race prominent.
He'll be on the shoulder, Yan Bryder will be close
to the pace, and you'd have to think that Barcelona
will just try and beat them for a turn of
the foot. With Caland again, I must say it was
a bit disappointed with Calipiana the last day Alreday.
Speaker 7 (10:11):
I thought she ran really well, that had Tarsall's Gold Cup.
I thought she came and had every.
Speaker 6 (10:15):
Chance to beat Whorland the pretty poly and couldn't do it,
having loomed up to come and win her race. So
I was a little underwhelmed with that performance and I'd
be interested to see how she gets on on Saturday.
But having seen her at the cord of the last day,
I wouldn't be all that keenan backing her. But yeah,
like you said, that's the way the race is going
to work out. And I think it's going to be
a torough test.
Speaker 7 (10:34):
At the trip.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
Baldly Dinald wanted to make it a really good test
at the trip and I think they might just tee
it up for themselves again as they did the Coronation Cup.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
And the pace is really important. This is going to
be a race running a much faster time than the
Coronation Cup. Coronation Cup was running genuine good to soft ground.
It's very severe uphill run for the first five thurlongs
or so, and they clopped two minutes thirty six point three.
I think, yeah, two thirty six point three for the
(11:04):
Coronation Cup, they'll probably it might beat two minutes thirty here,
So it is. It is in relative terms, more of
a test of speed than the racy one at EPSOM
last time.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
I was watching jac the other day, the eighty five
King George where you've got also shout at the triple
Crown winner, that winner Rainbow Quest dueling down the straight,
but they got racing three out and Potoski comes in
and picks up the piece is a big price. You
cannot ask on kin if you'll get rolling too soon. Yeah,
don't houses that chance.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
It's Barcelona on canand again, and he's I think he's
going to have to rely on his mount's ability to
produce one run and try and win it in the
final furlong. So I think it'll be continuous. Jan Brougal
rebels Romance and Klparna and canand again, hoping to come
and call.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
In fascinating King George cant wait to see it, can't
wait to find out, Chamberlain. Where these Ascott points ahead?
And I'm senting the Interstal handicap.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Is the correct answer, It's the correct.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
I don't know the horse though, I've only got the
race time and then give us a selection in.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
The Moet and Chundan another potential podcast sponsor there available.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
We are still available, So I'm going to go.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
All in on the Bumbery cup Ardie and I was
very keen on More Thunder you might remember, but I
actually backed Alto on the day. That was a painful,
painful watch and in the race my eye was drawn
continually to Billy Joe now.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
I know he's a bit of a rascal, and I
know he's not the.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
Bravest, but I love the booking of Tom Mark one
for Mick app will be here, and he watched back that.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Bumbery Cup, and I know he can be a bit
of a money Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
It was unlucky, and in a in a way more
thunder was fortunate because Billy Joe just got blocked everywhere
he went, and it sometimes helps him because he then
runs on. But I just think he's in really good
form at the minute. I'd rather back him at double
figure price than a Alto or Alto who was forty
to one chance that day. Would you believe he's now
(13:02):
a five to one chance? And I just think Billy
Joe if Tom markin can hold him up and get
a little bit of bad but not as much bad
luck as he had in the Bumbery Cup, and then
deliver him late, very very late. He ran okay in
this race last year and he was favorite. It says
eighth in the form book, but he was pretty close
up eighth, And I just think he's in really good
nick at the minute, and this race could be running
(13:23):
a ferocious gallop and Mark could just deliver him late
six places already six places or whatever sky Bet will
offer a He's an absolute knock each way, two points
each way please, Billy Joe.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
Okay, right, can I if it was going to be
one way, but Cunningham convinced me they've got to come
out today. We Alto is the one here. I'm sure
he's going to run a massive race. People will say, oh,
he doesn't have the ascot form. If they say that
they haven't watched last year's race, watch it back. He
(13:55):
was desperately unlucky not to finish right on the heels
of the main place. A torrid run all the way
through on the back of his Bumbery Cup win, and
this year's Bumbury Cup performance was tremendous. He took on
what many people considered the most progressive six seven furlong
horse in training. He traveled beautifully, he was clear of
(14:15):
the rest headed by Billy Joe, and he's five pounds
well in and he's got big Bill buick for the
first time. No knock on Joe Leavy who did everything
right at Newmarket. But this horse is in the form
of his life and I think he's bound to run
well and doesn't do any harm to have a couple
on your side, so I lad certainly a one point
(14:35):
win Alto. I think he's he's prime to run a
huge racecond since Ben's he's champion at the bit to
jump in here. Have you got a third one? You've
got you've got a third string to the bow.
Speaker 8 (14:49):
I was looking at Billy Jay myself, but he's got
a long losing run head that he'd have to be
an h way.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
He's constantly straight all the places on offer.
Speaker 8 (14:57):
Yeah, I thought Dave mar had an interesting one in
this race.
Speaker 9 (15:02):
Sad a big price.
Speaker 8 (15:04):
He's not run at Ascott, but I think he looks
like he might love Ascott. He's a kingman and he
he likes to find a bit of trouble in running himself.
He's a bit like Billy Joe, but I think he's
he's well handicapped his next Gosden House and he's a
huge price. He's twenty five to one, but he's in
good form as well, and you can't have enough strings
to your bow in the International. I don't think we've.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Got Billy's an Irish house can put up as well.
Speaker 6 (15:27):
Just what is it one of John McConnell's Yeah, it
doesn't doesn't noble truth.
Speaker 7 (15:39):
You find it hard to make the case.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Tried Billy Bill is if Billy's not even trying.
Speaker 7 (15:47):
It.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
He's published the list of the hundreds hundred greatest podcasts
of all time this week, and I was going all
the way down. I just couldn't find us anywhere.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
It would be a printing mistake. We'll do our own
scoop back put on the plan next week and the
best podcasts we'll pull a list together. Fature Ben, the
sky Beat, the York State Good Renewal. Al mckham is
slight odds on against a couple of really interesting three
year olds. Would he be fall of against the fav.
Speaker 8 (16:19):
Yeah, this is a This is a tough one because
the Skybet York States is a race that has seen
you know, this type of favorite beating you know, quite
a lot over the years. And al mcam we've seen
in miss races all season because of fast ground and
the ground he is trying out on the knaves Mayer
and we could end up edging back towards good to
(16:41):
firm will ed Walker even even running in that scenario,
we shall say hopefully he does turn up because when
he beat on Budsman at sand Down earlier in the
season in the Brigadier Cheryard, he looked like a horse
that was going places, certainly a group one eventually, and
you'd think that's that's the way he's going. It might
(17:02):
be in the might be in the autumn when we
see the best of Almacam. I just think because his
price is so tight and because his form worked out
of ural Ascot, no one's missed him and just edging
towards taking him on with the ground right and I'm
still on in an iron with witch horse that you like.
You said, there's there's quite a few three year olds
in there that are interesting, the likes of Bay City
(17:22):
Roller for George Scott and Standout Gardens for Ray Beckett.
I thought one that is looking a little bit over
price was was not a three year old but an
older horse. Royal Champion for Cal Burke, who's who's got
previous in this race. He was close up behind the
owen Burroughs winner Al al Flaylor. Not last season, the
(17:44):
season before and obviously he's been out to Australia and
he's come back, but he looked good on the old
weather earlier in this season. I think there's excuses for
his running the Prince of Wales his last time, where
he was right on that fierce pace. I think you
can put a line through that run, so a bigger
price Royal Champion might be might be worth looking into.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
And were you not in there with oh, I can't
believe that.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
I do not believe that. I thought I was going
to be on my own with that one, scoop.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
I'm amazed because I first looked at this and I
thought I've got to give Stanhoe Gardens a chance here
because I fancied him if he'd gone for the Eclipse.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
You remember on that podcast when we tipped numerous non runners.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
But this is one for your whirldpool. I mean, this
is why the podcast should have been in the top thousand.
Here's one for your whirlpool.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
We shoot, we are in the top thousand.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Three year olds in the sky At York Stakes, the
last winner six.
Speaker 8 (18:39):
Two and six.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Yeah, the first ever renewal of the race. Three year
olds just don't win.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
Do not win the York Stakes for some reason, So
I'd be happy to take on the three year olds.
I think Al mccam's a crazy price. Everyone's all in
on the onwardsm form, but the rest of that race
at Sandown was no great shakes, was it? And odds
on on that ground not for me, Clive, not for me,
And I just think champions a huge price for the
reasons laid out by Stoep.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
I think you can put a line through the Prince.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
Of Wales the states that performance, and he had his
other horse, the horse he was trying to think of Skip.
I think enst in the race and he's gone with
Royal Champion, which is ye and he's gone with Royal Champions.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
So in Carlbert we trust.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
I don't think they'd run Royal. Ryan keep quite a
no strong view on this race from a punting point
of view, But don't forget it has turned into a
dawdle with a capital D more than once this race,
doesn't it. So I think it would be very sensible
to keep it simple with the favorite and go forward.
He was very comfortable in front at Sandown and to
(19:40):
avoid any any you know, real sit sprints where tactics
are more important than actual you know, merit, then I
think they should go forward with him and try and
try and prove that he's as good as he looked
at Sandown, because he looked really good that day, Bill.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
Billy, how do you see we've got screen impact for
Jesse Harington as well, lasting in the starby plenty good
form to his now.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
So yeah, certainly on ratings already it looks pretty open
and shot because Alan mccam if you can run anything
to like the figure he did last time, ultimately being
onwards man, he's very much known to beat here. I
think he's got about seven pounds later on time form rating,
so he sets a pretty high standard for everything else
to him at very much the horse to beat. If
he is to be beaten, I think it might be
by one of the three roads, because I think all
three of these you can make a realistic case for.
(20:25):
Basically he roller and really well in France the last
day Stanhope Gardens I thought ran a cracker in the
derby and dropp him back to a mind and a
quarter will probably suit him. And Green Impact is a
horse that I just don't think for one reason or
another we've seen the best of him as a three
year old this year. Yet remember he beat Delaquas as
a two rold at leopardsone last year.
Speaker 7 (20:41):
That form looks really good now. He won in his
second start this season.
Speaker 6 (20:48):
At Leopardstown, then ran in the Irish Derby and you
couldn't say he didn't stay in the Irish Derby, but
he certainly didn't improve for the step up to.
Speaker 7 (20:53):
A mile and a half. So I think it's you know,
clearly the stable.
Speaker 6 (20:59):
Decided that Mount and a half isn't this thing that
dropped him BA to him Mount and the quarter straight away.
This should be probably his optimum trip. I think he's
a little bit better than you shown this year. Trip
and ground is ideal for him man and Jesse doesn't
send him unless she thinks he's got a chance, so
I could see him running well. But all things being equal,
already I think Alan mccam will win this. I think
he's he's going to be very hard to be.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
Here, right, let's stick the kind of put in a
word for the sky bit dash Oh god, you can
jay so wide open race.
Speaker 4 (21:27):
Obviously people will look at you know Elman Jed then
consistent Pocklington who was really well backed and Newcastle and
only just failed. He's still likely raised. I haven't got
the exact number I should have messaged Nile Hannity. Nile
Hannity told me when we were on air, Ruth Carr
at York this year is something like five from nine
(21:49):
and when you consider they're all wide open handicaps that
she's contested, she's not winning the maidens or the group races.
It's quite a stat rousing. Encore provided one of those
wins at the main meeting, and he did it in
really tidy style. He was unlucky at Epsom in a
very messy race. He ran pretty well at Ponty. But
I think back to York and sixteen to one of thereabouts.
(22:11):
He's horse who should be shorter in the betting.
Speaker 9 (22:13):
He's he's in.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
Tremendous form and I think he'll go well in a
in what's a really odden race, but I haven't got
the time look it up. That stat for Ruth Carr.
I think I think she's about five from nine at
York this year and.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Order would that be enough just out of interest for
the skypit Go racing in the Yorkshire Week tipping competition,
would that the enough for us to hit the front.
It's a nightmare scenario GC at the minute. Olibell Leeds,
which is just about the worst possible scenario.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Good competition week long jc.
Speaker 8 (22:55):
Y thing.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
Yeah, you know the answer to that, scoop. It's been
lamentable in the words of David Laments.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
The thing that's equally sickening is that oliput up. It
was a race share winner that he's put up at
fourteen to one?
Speaker 1 (23:05):
Is it you didn't know?
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Which is when we had to take down all the
adverts for the spot in Advancing Club that olib after
about he.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Would get on the back of a line for a
ten At that point.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
He'll certainly go to the kat out Goodwood Festival for
his rich ITV payday and it's a fantastic meeting. We've
got to look forward to a bill in US. I'll
start with you because the Tuesday features the Goodwood corp
Its Phase two of Illinois the Staying Project. What did
you make of phase one in the Gold Cup with him?
Speaker 7 (23:37):
He ran really well for a long way.
Speaker 6 (23:38):
I'm not quite sure he started the trips, certainly didn't
see it out as well as torna Man, but two
miles around good Will be much more like his coup
of tea Ordy and I think this is where he
should he should start to cement his positions as one
of Baldy Dye's top stairs. No, I think this race
looks tailor made for him. I think, you know, probably
the Ascar Gold Cup was was never the plan with
(24:00):
Illini this year. I don't think, you know. Obviously Kyprios
unfortunately had to be retired, so he was parachuted into
that race having not possibly been trained, you know, ideally
for it.
Speaker 7 (24:10):
But I think this was always going to be the
plane rom after the Ledger last year.
Speaker 6 (24:14):
He was always going to make a cup horse, and
I think two miles on good what should be ideal
for him. So if he has recovered from his exertions
at Ascot, he's had plenty of time.
Speaker 7 (24:21):
Now you should think you would think so.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (24:24):
I think hopefully now we'll see a truer reflection of Illinine.
Speaker 4 (24:27):
I think this is a good fit for him this race,
and that's the key if he's recovered, because I won't
go as the melodramatic and centralam and broke him. He
really made it hard and if you watch the video back,
it's not the first time he's edged right, but he
drifted quite noticeably right as a bit of fatigue started
(24:48):
to kick in, but his record is super consistent and
without Kyprios and with the ratings the BHA ratings, he's
won one six. His key rival, French Master is progressing well,
but he's still only one of weight and winning a
handicap off of a mark one hundred like he did
(25:10):
at Royal Ascott is a different kettle of fish than
taking on Illinois. These terms, I think a.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Bit of presuming Scandinavia is to cover shot in case
something goes wrong with and then I do you think
they could run Valve?
Speaker 7 (25:23):
I'd be surprised, Darry. I'm like you.
Speaker 6 (25:25):
I think he's in there just in case as as
an insurance policy. Look, he was fairly impressive in the
berylind Trophy. He was I didn't expect him. I wasn't
even sure he'd win that race. I certainly didn't expect
him to win the way he did. But yeah, I
don't see him running if he anight is okay, Scoop.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
The Gosdens are throwing French Master and Sweet William his
way the Sunlight, potentially stepping up in trip for David
Manuzia after a tame season to date. What's the early
about Lymphot even thoughts on this good Wood cup.
Speaker 8 (25:55):
It's that opposition doesn't look good enough to be Illinois
if he at his best, basically you respect all of
them French masters. He's been around the track, he's improving,
he's stepping up to two miles. It could squeeze out
more improvement the extra distance. And if you're trying to
get Illinois b and you're looking for reasons why he
(26:17):
could get beat you might say, well, he's a big horse.
Speaker 9 (26:21):
He's never been round Goodwood.
Speaker 8 (26:23):
We know it's got twists and turns and ups and
downs and cambers and it's idiosyncratic.
Speaker 9 (26:27):
Could that get him beaten.
Speaker 8 (26:29):
It's not enough for me to want to take him on,
But if you are looking to take him on, I
think that's perhaps a reason you could explore. But basically
the opposition don't look in his class. He's had six
weeks as it since rale Ask got to recover. I
think if he's on his a game, he wins, and that's.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
A highlight on Dame One. We've got the vintage steaks
with the cheshawin of humidity in their old kinlosses in
his father head of John Quill and the Lannox Stakes.
Does day want excite you for the Katar Goodwood Festival.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Yeah, yeah, I think if I met Arkele and Adam Waterworth,
I'd be thrilled with the marquee races and we'll come
to it. The Sussex States has got what you'd want.
The Nasau looks an absolute belter of renewal at the minute,
and the sprints on Friday is okay as well. I
just think they'll be disappointed if we're honest about the
good Wood Cup. It's the one marquee race that next week.
(27:20):
They haven't got the Gold Cup winner. There aren't those
progressive three year rolls you sometimes get in this and
it's Illinois to lose. But I couldn't back it because
I totally agree with with GC. That was Man City
sapping the life out of Liverpool that year in the
Gold Cup. It was absolutely brutal, rape, brilliant performance from
the winner, and I just think you're you're taking too
much of a risk at that price. But he's the
(27:41):
best source in the race. So yeah, the Lennox and
the Vintage States look really good, but the Goodwood Cuts
the one marque race of the week that probably isn't
quite up to scratch.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Lennox is good, solid group two and looks like we
might get a different tactical setup to last year. Remember,
audience was given pretty much a solo in front last year,
but this time we have a witness stand and perhaps
spy chief in there. Kim Ross is a tremendous horce still,
isn't he at the age of eight. Figures of one, two,
(28:13):
one three in this caught out tactically, but I think
really the time form numbers will say that that John
of Gaunt stakes second on his reappearance. That's pretty much
on a par with anything he's ever achieved, So he's
going to be hard to beat again. I mean he's
three to one favorite, but he goes so well at Goodwood,
and if he gets a pace to run at this time,
(28:33):
he's going to be a prime player again.
Speaker 6 (28:35):
Anything that's true's not quite a career best GC, but
very close to it from Kim Ross, and his reappearance
ran really well, so as things stand to himself an
audience very hard to separate.
Speaker 7 (28:47):
Them on time farm raisings. We'll see what turns up.
Speaker 6 (28:50):
Just a quick word on the undevinted stakes already I'm
not entirely sure what edd Andlebrian is.
Speaker 9 (28:55):
Going to run.
Speaker 6 (28:55):
I'm pretty sure Joseph is going to run and deb
looks like it could be a very strong race.
Speaker 7 (29:00):
But I'm hoping Aiden runs a horse called Dorset.
Speaker 6 (29:04):
He's he's got three or four entered in the race,
but Dorset finished second time a day smultar. First time out,
he beat a horse called ben Venuto Chilini on his
second start at the Korra. That horse has gone on
to winning Canarnie. Since that looked a really strong maiden
that that raced the Dorset round. So I'm hoping he
turns up. I think he could be quite smart. He'd
have plenty to find on bare form with the legs
(29:25):
of humidity Anne Zavati if he turns up. But I
quite like this Dorset and I'm very much looking forward
to seeing him going to run.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
Again a good race that on history, if you look
at the winners Olympic Glory, Tomo Highland Reel, Galileo Gold
Expa I Dinnatubo, Hart takes a good one to win, it,
doesn't it.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Yeah, the great Sir Percy as well sco he won
that on his well this way to da Big It's good?
Is it too early for you? Off thoughts on this
chief support races on that Tuesday it is.
Speaker 9 (29:56):
Day Yeah, I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Don Pot, who was making a top wondered by pretending that.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
A good look at that race humidity is I think
his favorite of the moment the Chesham Stakes winner. I
really like that horse, but he's a I think, even
at this early stage, he is a rhythm horse. He's
a strong traveling galloper, so I think he's going to
have to be on the sharp end. Zavatieri, I think
Eve Johnson Horton's a tremendous train of finding good horses
(30:25):
at a cheap price thirty five grand. But he does
have a three pound penalty for his July States win,
and that race was absolutely set up for finishers. They
ran three sub eleven second furlongs, which really took a
toll on the leaders. So I think with the penalty
and tactically a different setup over a longer trip, Javatieri
(30:46):
might have a different question to answer. But it's traditionally
a really good race, and it looks like it's going
to hold up well numbers wise too.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
That's day one of good Lord, we've got the entry
scoop for this. Sussex takes the Khara keys on Field
of Gold, do landing William Bwick's he's four to nine.
You'd love to get a forty nine shot. Bet your scooby.
If you're looking already for what's going to cause his
downfall in this or six stakes.
Speaker 8 (31:11):
It's to find any sort of negatives with this horse,
isn't it. Earlier in the season, I was thinking he's
a ten fur long horse. He's a ten fur long horse.
I'm sure we can get him beaten over a mile,
but you look at him, he's getting better over a mile.
He's getting quicker. To me, to my eyes, I think
(31:32):
he's looking pretty unbeatable.
Speaker 9 (31:34):
I mean he's.
Speaker 8 (31:35):
Obviously he's getting eight pounds from Rosalian. Can you really
see Rosalian giving him eight pounds and beating him?
Speaker 9 (31:42):
I'm struggling.
Speaker 8 (31:42):
I mean, Resalians, he looks your archetypal Goodwood horse, doesn't
he He's got that change of gear and he travels
and if you play him late, but Field of Gold
surely got that covered. So no, I mean, he's four
to nine and I don't really want to take him on.
Does anyone want to.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
Take him on, I don't think so. If shaking out
the German biscuit tin for is it seventy five grand
to supplement Kirat from rath Beckett Yard to make the pace.
So it looks like it's going to be a pretty
well run race. I agree with Ben about Rosali, and
he does shape like he would have been a good
Wood last summer, wouldn't he but for his setback after
(32:21):
his Saint James's Palace win. And I do think that
slow pace, steady pace in the Queen Anne wasn't ideal
for him, but he was under two lengths ahead of Cairo,
and Cairo wouldn't get within seven or eight nine lengths
of a field of gold. So I'm not in a
(32:41):
rush to oppose the jolly. He destroyed two classic winners
at Royal Ascot, didn't he, And he has that ability.
He's not quite like his old man in that real
king man in that fast twitch acceleration, but once he
hits top speed he can sustain it, I think for
much longer than most high class sources. So the good
Wood question remains to be answered, but I hope he
(33:04):
answers it and then and then Ben, I hope he
goes up to two thousand meters for the International YO.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
Well, the good Wood question does need answered. But if
you're going to try to find a hole in him,
Kevin Chumance said he didn't quick down the dip at
New Mark. He didn't handle it the rising ground would
Would that be what you'd be clinging to if you
were a team with Sally and on Honor, mat Tease
or Dotland.
Speaker 6 (33:24):
So I think that's a good at you can clean
the harder. To be honest that that there doesn't appear
to be any other chins in his armor. Apart from that,
we don't know how he's going to handle this track.
Like the lads said, I would expect this race will
be weather run. Cara has been supplemented, Aiden could easily
run selling Getty. I assume he might have a pacemaker
and for Matise.
Speaker 7 (33:43):
So I think they'll go hard.
Speaker 6 (33:45):
But look, I just William Bwick just as long as
he doesn't need trouble, you know, provided he can he
can keep him out of a pocket, which I'm pretty
sure he.
Speaker 7 (33:54):
Will do if if things go smoothly. It's very hard
to see field the gold beaten.
Speaker 6 (33:58):
I really like Residian, and I'm a big fan of
the horse, but as the lad said, I struggled to
see him being good enough to give eight pounds the
field of gold. And I don't see any of the
three year olds beating field of Gold. So I'm in
norse whatsoever to take on the favorite here. I think
he's a really top horse, and hopefully we'll get to
see that this week.
Speaker 4 (34:15):
Honor Machief's got a slight nudge as he came through
in the Saint James's Palace, but he ended up getting
pretty much a ten pound beating, didn't.
Speaker 7 (34:22):
He he did?
Speaker 4 (34:23):
You know?
Speaker 7 (34:23):
It made no difference whatsoever to the to the outcome.
He was close enough, I good enough.
Speaker 6 (34:29):
I thought, I just got blown away by a superior hearse,
So I don't see any reason why you turn around
to the ascot form GC.
Speaker 8 (34:37):
And then sorry day the betting without market might be interesting.
I thought that Carl Spackler might come into it in
the betting without Field of Gold, because he's a proper
part from America, and he was completely undone by the
slow pace in the Queen.
Speaker 9 (34:53):
And really pulled for his head.
Speaker 8 (34:55):
And if they do go quick and he settles, I
think he could. He could easily be best of the rest.
So I'll be looking out for it without Field of
Gold market.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
That's one point when in the without market pinion, I.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Mean absolutely that's what the great game needs. But I'd
imagine ed changling. You want something special. He's not postboy
for the week, isn't it Field of Gold?
Speaker 1 (35:16):
Yes, he would be, he would be the gray. The
brilliance of him. I'm slightly different to the others.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
I just think the prices four to nine and Rossellian
for me, does just have that flash of brilliance, and
he just might get to a price where he's too tempting,
you know, is there that big a difference with I
know the eight parents, but I do think Rossallian just
goodwards perfect for him, absolutely perfect for him. I just
(35:43):
think that could become an opportunity if he's four ninety
two on the day, that for me possibly is too big.
And again Doclins is in a Queen Anne winner at
fourteen and sixteen to one. I just think the hype
around Field of Gold just might mean he's too short.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
Do you remember way back in time? It's not quite
a replica of this, but another dual under downs Frankel
Camford Cliffs. Campord Cliffs went off seven to four against
and Frankel destroyed him. Now I think campid Cliffs, they
said picked up an injury and he never ran again.
But seven to four to beat Frankel.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
Had been that short. I watched that race with sky
Spots news of David Craig. Didn't quite get to enjoy
the commentary. I got an alternative commentary through that particularsxtape.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
One former rider for Richard isn't for Richard.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Fire very good, just ground. He let you know if
the ground had gone. He could get the very quick
feel for that. That might not be in the top
one hundred podcast but very few podcasts. A live o
the BHA tracking system for entries for the Nassau Steakes.
Aiden hasn't played his hand yet. But it's it's see
the fire, it's whirl, it's bedtime story. How do you
(36:58):
pronounce the combinations? It's an intriguing venilla. The NASA is
how long they got because you'd like a few more argument.
They've got till twelve o'clock very late. Okay.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
She likes to think that Befallen angels and one looks
and and others in the race as well.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
I think this could be the race of the week.
Speaker 3 (37:15):
Order actually feel the goal against resiliens of Crapper obviously,
but the Nassau's deeper and yeah, this is this is
a belter, This is an absolute belt. The building team
will be eyeing up revenge on World World could be
very good.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
Cinderella's dream might run.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
I take her on around Goodwood round that bend, I
think for sure, and Senne might not be given the
credit she deserves the winning an ascert. She could be
double figure price, which might be crazy for her for
a winner of that race. This is a proper, proper race,
the race of the week for me.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
I think, Scoop, you like to swim in the better
without markets, You've you've got to the murky places. But
we don't even know it's going to be favored for this.
It's an intriguing contest.
Speaker 9 (37:55):
We don't have.
Speaker 8 (37:57):
So who was a real close second in this race
last year? Wasn't she behind Opera Singer. I thought she
ran really well in the Prince of Wales's because I'm
not convinced that Ascots her track at all. I think
she's more of a York Philly more of a Goodwood Philly,
and I think she might be tough to be. I know,
(38:17):
well if she turns up, off gets the nine pound
weight for age and she's she's a very good Philly herself.
But I just look at See the Fire and I've
seen Nassau Philly. I think she's absolutely tailor made for
this race.
Speaker 4 (38:30):
A two point swin job this bin, I think See
the Fire worlds are smashing Philly and her form. The
pretty Polly might get polished on Saturday in the King George,
but See the Fire has you touched on? She's a
better Pilly now than when she was beating the neck
in this race last year. HadAM Arabian Queen was third
(38:54):
in this in twenty fifteen behind Lega Tsimo, and I
was I expected a bit more from her at Ascott,
but that's because she was so incredibly impressive. But your
I think she is a group one winning waiting to happen,
and I think this is the perfect slot for it.
Might well cut up to a relatively small field, but
to me she should be favorite. And that's no knock on.
(39:15):
Well who is who is thriving Billy's She's just one
of those aid and Phillies that plenty of them over
the years, who who've been aggressively campaigned and keeps pulling
out a bit more each time than Gen.
Speaker 7 (39:26):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (39:27):
I think Aiden described her as the perfect rasourse after
her winning the Pretty Poly the last day. Yeah, she's
a really totally likable Philly. You know, she she goes
from the front, she's very hard to pass, and as
GC said, she just appears to be thriving on racing.
She got better with racing last season and that seems
to be the case again this year. But this is
gonna be a stiff asper. I mean, she's very little
(39:48):
to choose between herself and see the fire and ratings,
and if one or other of Cinderella's Dreaming or Crimson
Advocate happened to turn up as well, they're all right there.
There's nothing really, it's only a pound or two between
the three or four of them. So it's going to
be a cracking contest hopefully where we know we're going
to get from her. She's she's going to be ridden
prominently and she's.
Speaker 7 (40:07):
Going to be hard to pass.
Speaker 6 (40:08):
And you know we saw it with the Philly last year.
Offer Singer last year that's that you know that it
can be done a good wood and yeah, she's she'll
run her race. She's going to run really well. But
I think the Joe Murphy Phillips are.
Speaker 7 (40:21):
Saying you have to make a big case for her
here too as well.
Speaker 6 (40:25):
She was very good at Ascott and she's by Australia,
so everything pints to her being even better at further
than the mind.
Speaker 7 (40:30):
It's the first time she's going to try it.
Speaker 6 (40:32):
I think there's a case to be made that she
could improve for the step up and trip, and that
puts her right into the mix as well. You know,
she's they were half talking about the Arlish Oaks with
her after she won the coronation, but they've they've come
here instead and yeah, this, this sort of trip should
be ideal for her. So I certainly wouldn't rule her out.
I think she's got a great echas shout again here,
(40:52):
how about a bedtime story if she runs Billy.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
She she had a wide draw in the French Shokes,
ran pretty well, but it's not really been the career
we expected ever since that dynamite winning the chess room
last year, is it?
Speaker 7 (41:06):
Yeah, that's the thing about her.
Speaker 6 (41:07):
I mean, we thought last year she was going to
be a superstar and the wheels came off of it
in the middle of the season. Last year, you know,
she was finished last of five in a mild layer.
She didn't fire in the Marsters of boot second and yeah,
the Pretty Deanne was a massive step back in the
right direction, a career best on time farm ratings. Maybe
the step up to that, mind and the quarter really
(41:28):
suit her. She is by Frankel. She has been you know,
she's been pulling.
Speaker 5 (41:33):
Too hard really in the races and she gets well
back and yeah, and she's got to be a real
exceptional Philly to offset that headstrong nature and the poor
position that results from it.
Speaker 6 (41:46):
Yeah, and they put a hood on her this year,
which which probably has had a positive effect on her.
But even if she does run, I would expect more
to ride world. And I think that kind of tells
you all you need to know.
Speaker 2 (41:56):
Really, I just intend to say the fire she Murphy
straight after, and he was absolutely kicking himself for the
ride a royal Ascott for not being brave and take
him back and riders he intended to do he got
so he got sucked into sitting much further forward than
he wanted to, and he couldn't wait to have another
go on her, which he will get obviously in.
Speaker 4 (42:15):
The big, big week for him next week. He has
got loads loads of you know, good quality rides in
the big races next week.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
Yeah, like plenty of winners you imagine heading his way, Billy,
let's talk Friday. It's the King jeohge catas steaks, cracking
spint as ever is a minute got through the big
Irish hols for this, Billy know that I just I've
just gone back to the car.
Speaker 6 (42:43):
I'll stop with her because I think there's a real,
a real live Irish chance in this list.
Speaker 7 (42:48):
If she turns out. She's quality Philly.
Speaker 6 (42:53):
She is very fast and good woodland suit her. She's
all three runs this season have been in Britain. She
finished second on all three starts. Really good second of
sand down the last day. But she is an absolute
speedball Alredy, So coming down the hill of Goodwood, don't
be surprised if you're eating those words, you know, Irish sprinter.
Speaker 7 (43:13):
One of these days that's going to happen.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
I'll let that out. That's not staying in school and
nodding as the press. Py Cup Vice captain, You're no
in an agreement about.
Speaker 8 (43:23):
She's caught my ale season on these tracks that have
stiff finishes like new Market and sand Down, and I
think she wants a real she wants a downhill five
alongs and that's what she's gonna get.
Speaker 9 (43:33):
And I think she might be she might be tough
to rail.
Speaker 4 (43:36):
In Magneatha two thousand and two. They haven't welled the
last Irish winner of this race.
Speaker 10 (43:42):
You do, Billy, she's quality or she's quality won three
times last year, Lady she won a down Ryland, she
won a Tipperary down Roylean twice or Tipperary twice and
down ryl and they'd be our two fast as five
fourlongs in Ireland.
Speaker 7 (43:55):
So she's an absolute rocket this thing. So I think
Goodwood will soilver.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
Yeah, let's let me shock. But this was high on
my short list as well. Alwis has been GC. The
favorite is as Father. I think they think they've got
envetrishating they had for ly Alasco seemly they're the vibes.
Speaker 4 (44:09):
Well, it's an ausy thing, isn't it. Sort Of first
first run off, a break or relatively relative break is
often needed so they had a run at Haydock prior
to last year's King Charles the Third Wind. They didn't
have a run in Britain this time, and she was
only beating a couple of lengths into fifth. She was
(44:30):
only beaten a narrow margin in this race behind Big
Ebb's last year. But I think the thing that we
absolutely have to stress on as Fura read this race
last year, I'm pretty sure she had the group one
penalty last year. Dave didn't.
Speaker 2 (44:43):
She did research and the top one hundred of research.
Speaker 4 (44:47):
Yeah she did, and this time she doesn't. So she's
she's better in at the weights compared to the Brits
and Irish Raider this time around. So I get that
she's well fancied, but she didn't show quite enough. Quite
enough at Rowan asked to suggest I could wade in
at nine to four. And as we've seen July Cup
the latest concrete proof, there is so little between these sprinters,
(45:13):
and we have a few new shooters here in terms
of the Goodwood race, like Frostled Dawn time for Sandal,
saida de RhE An. So I've not gone through it
with an FTC a fine toothcomb, but I wouldn't be
wishing to take two to one and nine to four
the Aussie at the moment.
Speaker 2 (45:30):
And it might not be a deep division, but it's
given us a nice star as this spin division this season,
isn't it.
Speaker 3 (45:35):
Yeah, anyone can win them, but I think there could
be a very good horse in here if if Richard
Hughes goes for this. Ah, this saida dari Anne, I'd
be amazed if she's not better than his July Cup winner.
That's the that's the vibe I'm getting, and that's what
I'm also thinking. I thought she was brilliant at York.
Speaker 1 (45:54):
I really did she was.
Speaker 4 (45:57):
She'd get lots of trouble ed, didn't she And she's
still quitting on the.
Speaker 1 (46:00):
Man I sent. She could be very very good. I
don't know. I have no idea whether this is the
plan for Richard Hughes.
Speaker 3 (46:05):
I really don't. He's got both of his sprinters in
the race. But if he ran, said to dari And,
she should be much shorter than the July Cup winning,
which tells you a lot, and she could be sorry,
she's quality, but if she goes there, she's the better
of the weak. At double figure price. She really is,
but I don't know the huge plan. I might try
and bump into an askt this afternoon and let both
(46:27):
our listeners know. It was tarking non far when a
couple of days after y'ah, he was saying going back there,
but obviously I'm sure she could. She could take this
in in between as well, and she she definitely looks
to have the boat for five films because that was
a sixth last time yet, wasn't it. But the way
she the way she wondered, she would think dropping back
(46:47):
to five would be ideal.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
She's very setting her to one tops if he runs
and she's fourteen.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
There a couple of interesting ones.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
She's going to be very good. I'm convinced she's going
to be very good. I'm convinced she's better than kids you.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
Like cop one the lesser spotted Irish speedball trying to
be closed down by a new kid on the block
as well. It could be a fascinating King George. That's
Goodwood on the Friday. Anybody else got anything else on
their Goodwood radar that we haven't discussed.
Speaker 4 (47:15):
Ah, I want to mention Faraska Saturday, and I should
have mentioned her earlier on it's in the Princess Margaret Stinks,
which is a biggish field. It's a very open race.
It's this filly of David Lotman's called Amberia. She costs
two grands. She's by cool Stee, she's you know, she's
(47:37):
a real bargain buy. She bolted up at Leicester first time.
It was just you know, an okay race which she
bolted up. And then she finished a very close fourth
in that Emperor Stakes at Newmarket, and two or three
others from that bunch finisher in there again, but for
once so inexperience. She tanked along in front. She just
showed loads and loads of speed and power. And I
(47:57):
get the impression the market's missed and she's changed colors.
She's been brought by that eclipse. The are Breads mob
from America. Remember they bought a horse called Quick Susie
after her Nace win and she went on to win
the Queen Mary. So they're quite canny in the transfer market,
and I think they might have got a pretty useful affiliate.
She's twenty to one or thereabouts. But I wanted to
(48:18):
mention now, and I wanted to ask the lads about
and I don't know this horse's name, but the horse
that won it air on Monday, the William Hagger's horse
in the Shadworld Colors, who absolutely bolted up. And it's
now about three to one for the Steward's Cup. And
just to check out belief you could what sort of
chance does that horse have on the ratings? He won
at Goodwood? Aunt, excuse me at Yarmouth on Monday. Excuse
(48:43):
me for this is very poor of me. I should
have jotted his name. His name is, of course I.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
Do know this horse. I should be strang Yes.
Speaker 9 (48:53):
Arma Loch one by five linths of air.
Speaker 2 (48:57):
On the Clifford Lee didn't it.
Speaker 9 (48:58):
The problem is Chase, say, is he going to get in?
Speaker 7 (49:01):
Yeah, that'd be the big question mark. He's right down
the bottom of the weights at the moment, so.
Speaker 2 (49:08):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 7 (49:09):
He's only got eight stone two and the.
Speaker 11 (49:10):
Land handicap JEC and he'll get he'll get even with
the penalty. No, he'll get a penalty, all right, but
even with that he'll Yeah, there's a lot of them
in there. I don't know if he if he's scraping
or not.
Speaker 4 (49:26):
Well, let's have a look at his time. His new
time Form rating is one hundred and thirteen p having
one off the mark of what the other day and ninety.
I think, so he's now miles ahead of the handicap
if if he sneaks into the race. So maybe maybe
it's going to be.
Speaker 7 (49:42):
If he does sneak in with a penalty, he'll be
close to top rated. He'll be very he mightn't be
quite top rated, but he'll be right up there.
Speaker 4 (49:49):
He'll be he'll be miles clear top he's one one
three pena billy on time form.
Speaker 7 (49:55):
Yeah, yeah, he's adjusted. No, that's not but we'll we'll
have to yeah, but that's you know, we'll have to
wait and see what his penalty does to him. But
he will be right up there. He mightn't be quite top,
but he'll be right up there.
Speaker 4 (50:13):
I've derailed it there with you.
Speaker 2 (50:15):
It was good good read, good team research as well.
Everybody looking at the phones to get that Billy. I
can't let us go without and I'm not expecting selections
gold why next week though, of course? Running alongside good
what is it?
Speaker 7 (50:29):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (50:29):
A meet impactful of punching opportunities for you?
Speaker 6 (50:32):
May we get to the big meeting of the week hardly. Look,
there's going to be loads of opportunities. It's gold is
a tough place. I always go in there with high
hopes and usually come out of it with empty pockets
because it's a it's a hard place to make money.
You need a lot of look around Galway in any race,
and you need plenty of horses that you know it's
it's one of the most unique tracks ever for purses
(50:53):
for courses. If a horse handles Galway once, they usually
go back and do it again. So really interesting week,
loads of big races. I just had a quick look
at the plate and the hurdle. They're as competitive as
you would expect them. But I do like the look
of I'll just give you one at a price in
the plate that they think will run well. And that's
the company sergeant for Gavin Cromwell. He's a horse that
(51:16):
won a beginner's chase at Galway last year, so we
know he acts on the track. He ran a cracker
at Shelton, finished second to Jaguar on the plate and
since ran well over hurdles of punches down, so I
think this has been the plan with him. I could
see him running well, but look at the wide open race.
The hurdle is even more open. I think Gordon, Elliots
and dow We will have to be close to the
top of the market. Finished second to Krkasey in the
(51:37):
County Hurdle, should run well. Mister Percy of Joseph O'Brien's
Progressive Novis Hurdle of last year won a flat handicap
last time out. He's got a great chance for the
Double Green. And Willie's Jalila Murriviere is kind of under
the red arteries. A JP mcmanu's horse that ran really well.
It punches down, so the three of them, look, it's
it's nearly a week away, so lots can change within
(51:58):
now and then, but the three of them were three
just caught my eye going through the entries.
Speaker 4 (52:01):
Really, it's still the one major festival in Britain and
Ireland that I've never been to. Can you sell it
to me in thirty seconds? Because everyone raves about this
place and the experience.
Speaker 7 (52:13):
Yeah, I mean it's a lot of ordinary racing, but
it's it is great fun.
Speaker 6 (52:17):
Jac you know, it's big crowds, plenty punting opportunities and
everybody wants to a winner. At gall Away so I
would certainly think you should put the top of your
bucket list because it's well worth to visit.
Speaker 7 (52:30):
Like I said, a lot of the racing isn't isn't
of the.
Speaker 6 (52:32):
Highest quality, but it's where you'll see, you know, real
proper racing folk. They want to have their winners at Galway.
It's it's the highlight of a lot of people's years.
So a lot of crack at the at the track
and even more afterwards.
Speaker 4 (52:47):
So what's the town like Is that everyone says it's
a fantastic night after racing.
Speaker 6 (52:52):
Oh yeah, goldb is hopping, God is hopping every time
of the year, so there's always something happening in Galway.
Speaker 7 (52:58):
I would totally recommend it. I you know, well maybe
not the whole week.
Speaker 6 (53:01):
You'd want to be you'd want to be fighting fit
going for the whole week, but I think you should
certainly try and squeeze in a day or two if you.
Speaker 2 (53:07):
Could, and imagine the party in Galway Friday night, Billy,
if you've won the big splinter Goodwood as well, they'll
be good to get everyday for the statue. Weren't they
the pantheon of the splinting greates? It will be What
