Speaker 1 (00:23):
Happy one day. Everybody. Welcome to another edition to the
Sports Exchange. Have a great crew that I just was programming.
Note the Sports Exchange. We'll be taking a couple of
weeks off. Candy and I are going out to Europe
and Iceland. We're going to be heading out to London, Belgium, Netherlands,
Norway and Iceland. I think I got them all right,

(00:45):
got five of them right. I had to make sure
I was ready for those five before while I was
on the air, because I've been figuring out the last
three or four weeks and I finally got it. Anyways,
here's what the crew. I am Bully the Man. Good
day back Willie.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Well, uh, that was a pretty cool intro there to
let everybody know that you're going to be traveling the world.
Good to be back on the Sports Exchange once again.
Thank you guys for having me.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Willie is my version of Willie Mays. Every time he
comes on here and he hits it out of the park.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
That's where I got my starter jersey on today.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Exactly telling you people, he's my Willie Mays. He hits
it out of the park, and I think that's what
they said in New England without the r. He's Willie
Mays and he does a heck of job for us.
And you know he's got another famous Willie too, called
William mccubby. They're both home run hitters, and he's a
home run hitter, all these Willies and a thrunk. And

(01:43):
in Detroit they call him Willie Horton too because he's
awfully good too. And we got three Willies. Look at that.
And George Enian, you have to come up with that
detruck reference. I did so, all right. We got Taylor
Phillips a fact and I how you doing good? Good?

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Just kicking back and relaxing. That's all I'm doing.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
I'll keep you on your heels here on this show.
And Jacob Christner is in the house.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
Is that Pirates that you got on Willy?

Speaker 5 (02:13):
Yes, sir man, you just got signed to a ten
day contract, just wearing it.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
I'll take it. I need the money, man, I need
the money.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
You know. We got George Iikhorn.

Speaker 6 (02:25):
Yeah, that's me looking forward to the show.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
And lastly, Candy of Blake, thanks Scott for having me.
All right, well let's get to it. Bus the agenda tonight.
First topic, Actually, WILLI gave me the idea. What the heck?
Why isn't Mark Jackson a head coach in the NBA?
All he did was lay out the ground work with
for Steve Kerr with the Golden State Warriors. Kerr got

(02:48):
the rings and Mark Jackson had got the shaft. But
I'm going to add a little to this topic because
that also makes a question why Brian Billock never got
a head job after out winning a championship. And if
that's not good enough, what about Bob Brenley who won
the World Series and never got another shot either. Well,
the man that came up with the idea, Willie, you

(03:10):
can talk about Jackson, Billick, and Brenley on one shot.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Well, Brinley I don't remember as much about. But but
Brian Billick, who I thought was a phenomenal offensive coordinator,
and then for some odd reason when he got to Baltimore,
they barely straight a touchdown or even a field goal together.

(03:40):
And then of course Mark Jackson. I think Mark Jackson
has been blackballed by whoever for whatever reason. I think
it has a lot to do with his spirituality. I
think that him not getting another shot and some of
these other coaches that have gotten an opportunity. Even those

(04:04):
that have been recycled, such as the guy with the
three last name or three first names, Mike d'antni, has
gotten multiple shots. I just don't understand why. I mean,
it's if you really look at it from a standpoint
of what's right and what's wrong, think about the First

(04:25):
Amendment right that we all enjoy or supposedly enjoy. Is
this an infringement on his First Amendment right? They will
never admit it. I think that has a big part
to do with it. And I don't know what everybody
else's faith is on this panel. I know what mine is.

(04:47):
And if I know Mark Jackson in his faith, he's
not even tripping. I mean, he's he's good. He's good.
It's just a matter. It's just us out here, the
talk heads that have a lot to say. But I'm
pretty sure Mark Jackson is is more than Okay, Well.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Mark Jackson number one is get in broadcasting for the
longest time. He's done all right. I actually met Mark
Jackson when he played for the Indiana Pacers when the
Pistons were playing the one of the nicest people he
ever met. He really is a super nice guy and
he's super knowledgeable too. Will he really really is? We
after all, you've heard him on the network. Back of
these guys Brenley, Billock and Jackson did well on the air.

(05:32):
It's just too bad they never got another opportunity to
get the second chance to coach. But they're all championship
pedigree type of coaches. So there. Jackson laid out the
grout work for a championship team, Billick won one, and
Bob Brenley beat the New York Games in the two
thousand and one a series that many people were rooting
for the New York Yats because away with drive and

(05:57):
never got an opportunity he was lately it's a job
coaches what they have out there and had great careers
in TV. So yeah, Mark Jackson, he you know he
Stevin A. Smith is trying to go to bat for me.
You can't get him an interview. And Steven A. Smith
has a louder mouth than a lot of people that

(06:19):
I know, and I won't mention any name, but Steven A.
Smith and loud. All right, So with that, say Taylor,
what are your thoughts?

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Well?

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Brian Billick, him not getting that promotion to head coach
from assistant from offensive coordinator. My only defense for that
is they just don't see him good enough to be
a head coach at the current moment.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Uh, he'll.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Brian Billick. Okay, Yeah, because uh, they think they think
he needs more time and more mental development. But the
just just the experienced ones, uh know how to do

(07:11):
it more. The more experienced head coaches know how to
do it more.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Yeah. It never let me ask you a question, and
I'm gonna try. I know that. I'm just gonna make
it really easy. What are your thought about Mark Jackson?
And that's where Willie talks about to him the most.
If you're not sure about Mark Jackson, the background, the NBA,
It's okay, I'm okay with it. I'd rather you just
admit that you're not familiar with them, and I can
accept that because I know you follow a certain sports particular.

(07:40):
I want to just make sure that you're comfortable.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Or Mark Jackson, from what I'm hearing it is, uh
was a mentor of someone.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Uh and.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
If he if he can't get if he can't promote
someone from from a lower level to a head coach
of any sport, then then he said he would take
over himself. And he gets is that he's fine with it.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
That's fair.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
That's the thing in general.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Okay, Jacob, go ahead.

Speaker 5 (08:13):
Well, as far as Billick, you got to realize how
long has it been in the first place, how long
has it been since he's been into the coaching Realize
there's examples like John Grud and John Goruden. Before all
of this happened with him, he wasn't that he was
living off of two thousand and seven to begin with
as far as his world, and then he just wasn't

(08:36):
that great in the offense again with and he would
get run past anyway.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
So there's that. But what would happen with Billock?

Speaker 6 (08:44):
As far as.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
Mark Jackson goes, Remember he's an announcer. Disney can remember
a ESPN is owned by Disney. They can control anything
when the announcers. But Disney is so scared to death
that he might actually no prey on the court. They're

(09:06):
so a prey that he's going to that he might
offend somebody which at some point been around the Disney side.
They need to be offended, right, and they need they
need to be offended, and they need to be offended
hard and meant to be offended. So that's But the
thing is Mark Jackson's a basketball genius. He needs to
be out there, and it's like, these are the these

(09:27):
are the things we have to understand and get.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
But as far as Brendley, didn't he win three World Series?

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Brendley, I think he won the two thousand and one.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
I was thinking of somebody else's the three. As far
as the Giants.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Och, yeah, thank you.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
But Brentley Brindley getting older, and it's like Brendley's getting older,
and it's like this is the thing. It's like, how
long has it been? But this is the thing also
with it. Why would they just called Dusty Baker back.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
I'm just saying this.

Speaker 5 (10:05):
Why wouldn't they call he's more recently a World Series guy?
And I'm just saying this, If they were gonna call Bridley,
why wouldn't they just call Dusty back?

Speaker 4 (10:12):
He's been more recent in the person way.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Well, but Bob Brindley should have gotten the opportunities after
he won the World Series. And now after the fact,
they're writing he's too older, But back then he wasn't
you know, soon as the timonbacks let him go. I'm
just surprised a fool was at ring. That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
Yeah, but all I can all I can bring.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
Up with with why Jackson isn't there is because the
minute esp I can say this, the minute ESPN would
separate from Disney, you will see, and I'm not kidding you,
Mark Jackson would have a job. It's because Disney is
just too darn afraid of getting offended, offending other people,
and they're just ridiculous and they're stupid.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
But Mark Jackson.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Should be in the court with no questions Candy.

Speaker 7 (10:56):
Mark Jackson was actually laid off from ESPN back in three.

Speaker 8 (11:03):
So Mark only coached for the Golden State Warriors for
a short time. I think they have a let's face it,
ESPN went through a phase there where they've been firing
a lot of their higher paid long term broadcasters because

(11:27):
they can't afford it.

Speaker 7 (11:29):
They can't afford it. With all the different streamings that's
out there, ESPN doesn't have the same income coming in.
I don't think to be able to keep up and.

Speaker 8 (11:43):
Keep pace with all of the talent, because, let's face it,
there's Fox, Now, there's some other ones that are coming
out that are paying and competing for these top guys.
They chose to stay with steven A because steven A
draws more than some of these other talents. Does Mark
Jackson deserve another chance as a coach? I don't know

(12:06):
that Mark Jackson wants. Really, he's a life coach, he's
a pastor, so he's he's taken a different approach, I think,
and I and I do think that sometimes when you
go out of that into the religious realm as a
as a sports commentators, sportsperson, that sometimes you are looked

(12:30):
upon very differently and then they don't let you back in.

Speaker 9 (12:35):
Okay, that's fair, all right, George Well, I tend to disagree.

Speaker 10 (12:40):
There's a report Candy that he would be interested in
talking to the New York Knickerbockers, and that he is
interested if they soill care to talk to him.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
But Jacob, who hate it perfectly.

Speaker 10 (12:54):
We all know what's going on with some of the
philosophies of Disney and things like that, and it is
unfortunate because he laid the groundwork for Steve Kerr.

Speaker 6 (13:04):
He really did. He had two back to back playoff
teams there.

Speaker 10 (13:10):
They let him go and obviously gave a job to
a Hall of fame coach, No question, about it, Kerr.

Speaker 6 (13:16):
We all know k in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 10 (13:19):
And the fact of the matter is, yes, he did
go into broadcasting. What that's happened before, where guys go
into broadcasting and they want to go back into coaching
or managing. We've seen that before, you know, and you
mentioned you know, and the same with Bob Brenley and Billick.
I mean, these guys are good coaches, no question about
it in my mind, all three of them. And Mark Jackson,

(13:42):
you know, say what you want. He's just a solid,
solid professional. He is religious, okay, but he's a great
x's and O S guy. He's a coach and he
was a damn good coach in the NBA when he
was coaching.

Speaker 6 (13:56):
That's all I'm going to say.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Well, I'll tell you now, I have some strong work
based on what everybody said. Number One, he mentored Steph Curry, period.
He taught him how to play that position in the NBA.
Number Two, Tom Thibodau got fired. And what what's he
get fired for? Because all he did was take him
to the conference finals. Really seriously, really, you knew they
had come in and I mean I know he let

(14:20):
him go because he ran them the starters to the ground,
and that's why he let him go. Let's go if
you want to get rid of a public relation tobacle.
Freaking Jackson. Really, he's a New Yorker anyways, And I
don't know if Jackson could go ahead and solve the
James Dolean problem. Nobody has. That's not a problem, that's

(14:40):
a riddle. I mean, Charles Oakley got banned out of there,
he lost his season ticket because he'd got in an
argument with this guy. But Martin Jackson, but Thibodeau gets
fired for taking into the conference finals. And we know
there's more to it than that. But what are you
gonna do if they go backwards and what happens?

Speaker 5 (15:00):
Oh, they're already getting too They're nuts. But Willie, could
you imagine if if Mark was allowed to be a
coach and he got and his little brother actually lost
some weight Escalade, if Escalade lost some weight and he
had that he had like Steph Curry and then that
guy passing the ball, that kind of size, with that

(15:22):
kind of everything. How truthfully, the whole thing with Escalade
was he was and one, but he had hands, and
what he could have done with that to be able
to coach, if you could just get him to get
any discipline on that thing, to be a center, it
would have been it would have sort of been kind
of like a Jokic Sabonis type deal for him with

(15:46):
all those passers.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
Could you imagine that?

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Well, I mean, you think about the whole thing. We
all know about the Triviodeau story. Let's just say what
happens if this thing goes backwards? So bec apple, because
a rotten apple. These new dudes, New York people haven't
won a championship. If basketball was seventy two, and that
said nineteen seventy two, that's not long I think. And

(16:14):
I thought they won two back then on the red
holds seventy one, seventy two and seventy two. I know
it was early seventies, that's for sure, But that's a
long time. Not that James Dolan doesn't care. But that's
for another story. We have a lot of other topics
get to I knew that one. Willie brought this one
out from Mark Jackson was gonna be a lightning rod,
and it turned exactly to be that. So now that

(16:36):
Taylor got his basketball lesson for the night, we're gonna
quiz him on it on a later date, about Mark
Jackson and not Michael Jackson of the Jackson Five. About
Mark Jackson, the man with the hands who was a
big part of the Indiana Pacers. So just kidding with you, Taylor,
I like this guy. He's coming a long way. But
I know one person that a lot of people who

(16:57):
heard about called Caitlyn Clark, haven't we So the Kit
Clark impact. You talked about the Fevers rivalry game versus
Angel Revees and the Chicago's guy dropped seventy one percent
on the tickets went down from eighty six dollars twenty
five bucks. The game was moved to the United Center.
Now get this, you want to talk about the face

(17:17):
of the league. The two youngest players in WNBA history
to record a triple double Kaitlyn Clark on seven six
of twenty four, twenty two years in one hundred and
sixty six days and Angel Rees twenty three years forty days.
And that was just recently. So Willie, you know we
always talk about the WNBA. What are your thoughts about

(17:38):
number one? The nose dive in the ticket prices the
one day Because we all know that this woman like
Jacob has talked about Larry Bird of women's basketball. I
mean this Kaitlin Clark's financial impact is absorbed it.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Yeah, and moving the game to the United Center, I
could see why the dropping prices to get more people
in there. And that's the impact that it is Kaitlyn Clark.
I mean, they're going to be playing the Dallas Wings
on the twenty seventh, and the Wings play their home

(18:18):
games on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington,
but that game will be played at American Airline Center
on the twenty seventh, And I'm not sure how much
the ticket prices are, but the AAC has a capacity
of about twenty one thousand people and there's no reason
to believe why it won't be at least eighty percent

(18:42):
capacity for that game. And I think Page Becker's has
something to do with that as well. I think Enrique
Gogobalale has something to do with that as well, along
with the other players as well. But we know that
Caitlyn Clark, she's been the draw really even before she
became out of Iowa.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
No question about it. I mean, in a triple double
at such an early age is unbelievable too. But you
have Angel reeson Kaitlyn Clark. Basically leg have Magic Johnson
and Larry Bird all over again in this league. That's
just remarkable. By the way, Caine just gets a really
good comparison with CC as a whole. Colgan of the
w n B A pretty interesting, isn't I mean? I

(19:26):
like that one, all right? Taylor?

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Well, the United Center wants everyone to see the two
faces as they do of the w NBA, Kaitlin Clark
and Angel Reese. So that's that's why they lowered the
ticket prices just to get just to draw more people
in to see like the grandest w NBA game of
them all, the WNBA match above them all, the Fever

(19:55):
and the Sky, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. They would
love to keep seeing multiple matchups between the two and
if it keep and if it keeps paying it up often,
then then the prices will go back up up one
more like, at least little by little. And that's just
how the business goes, all right, Jacob, Well, the.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Drop in the drops for the they've moved it to
the United Center.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
For the original game, Cadine got.

Speaker 5 (20:26):
Hurt, so then they had to drop prices and try
to bring people in because.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
But the but the biggest thing is a lot of people.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
I mean, she is the face, but there's a lot
of people that despise it that she's the face. And
I'm saying this part, this isn't a white and black thing.
It isn't because if it was a white and black thing,
it'd be paid Becker's and they'd say hat and her
no because they know her even though she's from Minnesota
and she's Connecticut. There's a coastal thing to this. What

(20:55):
they what a lot of people do not like and
they can't stand that she's the face of it into
Iowa just a midwestern corn you know, from the cornfields,
right and then playing in Indiana and and it's like
that's bringing that.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
In the middle.

Speaker 5 (21:13):
And there's here's the deal that don't take what I'm
saying off of the page on this is because our
finals right now, which is a phenomenal finals is Indiana
and Oklahoma City, two of the same times, and the
and the coastal ESPN and coastal everything did not put

(21:34):
their marketing machine behind them. It is the lowest rate
rated in a long time because they didn't want to,
but they wanted New York in LA.

Speaker 4 (21:41):
They wanted Boston and New York.

Speaker 5 (21:43):
They wanted all those, right, They didn't want the They
don't want to promote the Midwest. They don't want to
promote like that. They've got they've got an arrogant attitude
on it. And they and the thing is, they would
love I said last week that I would bet you
that they're going to try to get if there would
be a place in Boston for the w n g.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
A they Tria to get Caitlin Clark. I said that
last week, and.

Speaker 5 (22:05):
The and the ESPN would love it, because they don't
like the idea that Indiana has this much room on
their airways.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
They don't like it.

Speaker 5 (22:16):
They don't like the idea that Iowa got that much
when she was in college.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
There's just arrogance. They call them fly over states for
a reason.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Interesting. I like that, It is interesting. H Willie.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Yeah, I actually heard something earlier today that the Pacers,
the odds for the Pacers to win the championship are
better next year than they are now.

Speaker 5 (22:45):
You're correct on that. It isn't the winning. The thing
is they don't want to market them. It's they're they're
going to admit that they're good, but they don't want
to market.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
They don't want they want.

Speaker 5 (22:55):
New York LA, they want all that kind of stuff.
They're just guys, arrogant mindset.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Well, it's always been ESPN mentality anyways.

Speaker 7 (23:07):
Yeah, Candy, So how how has Caitlin impacted? Clark's presence
has significantly boosted WNBA revenue, with estimates placing her contribution
at over a quarter of the league's total economic activity.

(23:28):
Ticket sales when she's on the road we have reportedly
increased by as much as one hundred and forty percent.
Merchandise sales for the w NBA have reportedly increased by
five hundred percent since her arrival, with clark merchandise leading

(23:48):
the way. Her games have drawn millions of viewers. We've
talked about that before. The Indiana Fevers franchise value has
reportedly quadruped due to Clark's presence. Indianapolis has seen an
increase in hotel bookings tourism related to Fever games and

(24:10):
Clark's popularity. Some projections suggest Clark's presence could help the
WNBA generate nearly one billion dollars in revenue in twenty
twenty five, good for them.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
Well there's okay, there's your title, Kaitlyn Clark's financial Impact.
Some rise with your stats, your greatest stats.

Speaker 8 (24:36):
Her success is also raising the profile of other WNBA
players and the league as a whole.

Speaker 7 (24:45):
Great job, Kyton Clark.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
Yeah, and I hope that those other players are grateful
when they get bigger paycheck because of this young lady,
because that's the reason that they will. And I'll leave
it at that. I said my piece, and that's why
I came up with the title Kaitlyn Clark's Financial Impact.
And all Katy did was just their hammer with a
file ay full of stats.

Speaker 10 (25:07):
Okay, George, Well, there's no question about her financial impact.
I mean, it's a tremendous boon to the WNBA and
to basketball in general. But the thing that really bothers
me is this craft going on and this dirty play
and this stuff that they're doing pushing her and shoving
her and making them get angry and all this stuff
going on. I know we're not going to talk about

(25:27):
that now, but I think they better take a good
look at that before before too long. Because I watched
the replay again and again at the shenanigans from the
game on Tuesday Night, and all that to be said.
We don't protect everybody, but you do protect your stars.
Let's face it, every sport does in some way and
shape and form. They've done it for years and decades.

(25:51):
All I'm saying is that she is one of your
top stars. She is one of your top draws. You
see these teams playing in big arenas now and wanting
to sell out anytime she comes into town.

Speaker 6 (26:01):
So she means a lot to that.

Speaker 10 (26:03):
League, and and it's not necessary for them to to
get into cheap shot stuff with her at all.

Speaker 6 (26:10):
That's all I want to say on it.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Well, Herb and Rod's podcast, welcome to the show. I
appreciate you being a Willie supporter and you support him
if you entirely help us out is. Please subscribe to
our YouTube channel too, but Willis takes priority over our
We appreciate it. So as far as Kaitlin Clark of
this podcast, I'm going to say one thing, Herb, I'm
the angel reef. Then well, hey listen, Herb. Yeah, please

(26:38):
subscribe to our YouTube channel as well. Come for a tribune.
But I'm gonna tell you one thing. I know Willy
a long time. If this guy is a superstar in
more ways than one, one of the nice people have
ever worked with. And he will be in Lessons from
a Microphone Part two. That's all I know. Yeah he will.
But hey, listen, it's okay to get props to somebody
that gives your respect. Think about it, Rodney Dangerfield never

(27:01):
got respect and you're data.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
Well, I like to think.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
I appreciate that, and I like to think that I've
earned it the old fashioned way. I earned it. And
Herb and Rodge are a special group, or they are
a special pair of brothers, let me tell you. And
when I say brothers, I mean they they're real brothers.
They're their pot They were with they were part of
our group a little while ago, and then they ventured

(27:29):
out and got on their own. I I love what
they've been doing. Uh what they have been doing is
is so refreshing. The only thing I don't like about
them is that they're Alabama fans.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
I hear you. And I will say one thing about
this Caitlin Clark thing. I still think it was an
absolute bloney that she wasn't on the US women's Olympic
team last year. I really think that was bad. But
you know what, she took it and tried and got
the rest. Oh that's okay. Hey, listen, she took this right.
And she's a lot. I'm just saying, I'm entitled in

(28:04):
my opinion. Whether anybody agrees with her or not, I'm
going to disagree with because she was let's say something. Well,
all right, but listen to me. I was on the
wrong end of the Amando Galarraga debate where everybody thought
that they should keep his infamous Perfect Game there, and
I thought this should change that. And I was out
numbered by about six seven eight people to one. That's okay.

(28:24):
And when I predicted the Indiana Patris would win, it
didn't look bad for a while, but it didn't looking
very good anymore. And I'll eat crows don't go my way.
But that was everything to gain, nothing to loose, prediction.
So nobody's coming from me for predictions. And I'm not
worried about it because I'm not going to have a
senson if people go the other way and I'm not
and I'm wrong.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
But how do you like your crow?

Speaker 1 (28:46):
How do I what?

Speaker 2 (28:47):
How do you like your crow? Do you like it?
Fried Salte fond?

Speaker 1 (28:52):
Dude? Oh, I like that, well, I like everything well done.
Don't worry about that I do. I mean, I'll tell you.
I can tell you how many meals I'm made well done,
even if it wasn't by choice. But I can sit
here and tell you about the I'm going to get
to a food topic in a minute, but I can
tell you right now that the one thing you don't
do to a grilled cheese is sticking in a microwave
four minutes. And if you stick it in a four

(29:14):
microway four minutes, you can break a triple pane window.
And if you need a hammer to pound in a nail,
just stick a piece of wood on top of that
gross cheese sandwich and that nail goes into hole. Baby,
I'm telling you so as far as my crow, I'll
take it well done because I know that I made
a bull move. But it didn't look so bad after
they won a couple of games, and all of a sudden,
it looks so good later on, and Indiana had him
on the ropes in game five until they got it.

(29:36):
They got away, and we saw what happened, so it
wasn't looking bad. It's not like they got swept. You
got to give Rick Carlisle his due. It's just I
realized that Oklahoma, oh Lahoma City's a Hectabo club and
around the whale they could very well win. I think
Tyree's Haliver, I don't think he's playing today is coming
my hear so. But either way, Indiana, like you say,

(29:56):
Willia is probably his favorite next year. Much of it
is made of Disney in ESPN and whatever. So hat
top to the Pacers. Even if everybody on the panel
is right not wrong, I'll deal with that, but I'll
deal with this too. One of my favorite segments in
the show were the non sports topics, and boy, I
love to put a lot of work in any guy.
So when Willie told me give it to me basic,

(30:17):
what the text message is, that means he didn't get
to see these either. So here we're gonna do. Let's
have a little bit of fun with the non sports
topics that anybody that wants to come in. I'm not
going on the road around the horn here because the
way I get to the other stuff. But item number one, okay,
non spoorts topic. Look at Willie put that hand on
the face with the head down. Oh god, let this
scuger coming up with this time. Oh my god, Ohnally

(30:41):
Keith Jexons would say, okay, we got a little key
texting in here. Everybody can tell them. I'm getting ready
for a trip.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
You're tripping right now.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
I'll think you are ready.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
I think you are ready on the trip.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
Well, I'll tell you one place I'm not going to, though,
is I'm not going to Japan. But they are. Tell
you one me about Jaman. They are developing floating houses
that lift off the ground during earthquakes briefly when the
tremor is hit by air, developed by dancing systems. How
about that, floating houses people avoid earthquakes. You heard that one.

(31:14):
Floating houses.

Speaker 6 (31:15):
That's a new one to me.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Crew, So we won't that'll be floating too, But floating houses. California.
California needs floating homes. They won't have to worry about
the earthquakes every five minutes.

Speaker 5 (31:29):
No, no, I guarantee you if you tell California they you
get floating homes, there will be some special interest that
will say no to it for whatever reason.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
But we're talking about Japan, California. Why not. I'm talking
about them too. You have floating houses. I never heard
them before until the Japanese came up with it. But
if you think that's interesting, I got something even better
than this one, okay, really better floating houses. A man

(32:02):
named Joel Berger okay, married a woman named Ashley King, okay,
and Burger Key paid for the whole wedding. Source Inside History.
I mentioned this because there will be no shortage of
buffets on our cruise. So there we go. People. Now,

(32:27):
this may not be a good one for some people,
and it was too good to pass up, and it
was so appropriate lot of time that we're going there
that I have to tell you breaking news. Okay that
Joel Berger married a woman named Ashley King and Burger
k paid for the whole wedding. Don't expect me, all right,
Well whatever I'm putting it out there, good move now,

(32:49):
Willie Mute doesn't go ahead and allow you to go
ahead and stick it to me, but non Newt does.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
And no, no, no, I need you to put up
the last comment from this person. David whoever he is.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
Black woman, just needs to wake up call everyone to say.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
Obviously not married to a black woman.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
Well, I didn't know whether he liked my Burger King. Joe. Well,
first of all, before you comment on that we're here
thoughts about Joel Berger marrying? Uh what do we got
Joel Berger? I say, I can't even remember marrying Ashley King.
Give me something there.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
It was a whopper of a wedding.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Oh that was awesome, baby. That's the Milly way. That's
all kids.

Speaker 6 (33:41):
That's a junior whopper.

Speaker 1 (33:45):
Willie have he just became to say, hey kid man.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Looking kid his face. Oh my gosh, I.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
Say that again. I need to hear it. Say that again.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
It was a whopper of a wedding.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
As Dick mytel is awesome baby, anybody else that's comment
on either of these two wild one we got phony
houses and we got whoppers only on the Sports of
James Tonight on six eighteen, twenty twenty five, forty eight
hours before I go ahead and head out to the
other side of the world. Way got people in the world.
The modern city man Mouth is coming to your area.

(34:26):
Even if you may not understand anything I had to say,
But when I stick a microphone in front of your face,
you'll know that what it is. See a microphone? Is
I wear this? I'm religious here? Okay? Everybody has a microphone,
is like a Willie pup. I can never have an
you can never have enough of it.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
Scooter scooter, scooter on a on a on a real
serious note, Yeah, you probably need to block this guy, David.

Speaker 11 (34:55):
Yeah, I think Candy, Uh, it would be a very
good idea, David Yakarino. Yeah, he's just not the curse
of the Bambino meaning see you and you know what
we call that in regular radio though Willie and George Kona.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
Would say, it's called vaporized. Well, when we had.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
In today's world, they call it gas lighting.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
Oh well, you know what people uh when they talk
about we have American history and then this guy is history.
We get to drill. Yeah, Candy candies getting the band
button really down because he's had to use it recently.
Those are my non supports topics of the night, And
those that didn't want to comment were smart. And the

(35:41):
one man that commented on Burger Kid was even smarter
because he had a whopper of a response.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
Well no, Jacob also said that they had kids. They
would be junior whoppers if they had kids.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
So that was all Jacob that avoid what's that? Candy
do it that way? Yeah, that's good. I have a
right not a burger King analogies are coming. But you
know what, I'll say this, I close the topic. Okay,
Joel Berger, Ashley King, I hope you have an awful

(36:13):
lot of the great whoppers and Whopper juniors because you
know something, don't forget those fries either, and all the
other stuff things you get. But and Kandy and I,
we don't know how many buffets we're gonna add, but
I won't be no burger king on this chef. This
this cruise is too expensive to have a burger King
on it. I think Jane says, you're not gonna get

(36:36):
banned your class ack with this. Other guy just kind
of wrote it a little too far. It takes a
lot to get banned from this though. But ever that
that David, why walk the plank, as they say, from
a guy wearing a pirate's hat? Right? Okay? Well that said,
We're going to my town, all right, and I'm gonna
start off with this one too, and then I'm gonna

(36:58):
turn it over everybody else. Okay, I'm going to do
that's right. The first Dennis Schroeder this season started with
the Brooklyn Nets traded to the Warriors, traded to the
Jazz traded to the Pistons and what was his reward
a trip to the NBA playoffs. Another thing in my
neck of the wood, Florida and Miami are finalizing the
agreement to play a neutral site game this season in

(37:19):
Jacksonville to depending n ca men's basketball champions will take
on the my Miami Hurricanes out in Jacksonville. That's great.
We see these guys meet on the field lot. It's
good to hopefully see him on the hardcore. So kudos
to them for being able to do that. And again,
as I mentioned before, Dennis Schroeder and who knows Georgia
is gonna land, but at least he landed in the

(37:40):
playoffs this year. That's my town, Willie Woods yours.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
Well, I'm going to go to the photo in my background, okay,
And even though I live in Dallas, a group the
first part of my life in that place where you
see in my back, so.

Speaker 3 (38:03):
The y Oakland Coliseum.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
Well, in the first part of what you just said,
not the Colisseum literally, but not that far though not
that far from the Colosseum. The fact that there are
no more major professional sports franchises in the East Bay
to me, has signaled the end of sports. This is

(38:29):
sports armageddon at its worst. Of course, I am over
exaggerating simply because I still love that city. I still
love the Raiders, or still love the A's. I don't
care if they could play on the Moon or play
on Mars or wherever. Those are gonna always be my teams.
And people would ask me, well, since the Raiders have
moved to Vegas, are you still a team? Are you

(38:51):
still a fan? And you know what, I had to
think about that for a second. So was my affinity
for the town or was it for the franchise? And
I think for me at that time, it was for
the city. But the city the city is I should
say the town is deserving of these teams leading because

(39:13):
they did nothing. I shouldn't say nothing. Well, the town
did nothing significant to keep the A's, the Raiders and
even the Warriors to a degree in Oakland.

Speaker 4 (39:27):
And didn't either.

Speaker 1 (39:29):
Well that's just any consolations. But it got cricket Kitty.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
I said Major.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
I'm with Major everywhere else but here. But I didn't
even know how to play the game. I'm just kidding.
I'm just trying to make light. I'm in a good
mode all ready. To travel. I'm not gonna have Florida.
I'm not gonna have a lot of communications. I'm getting
it out of my system to night with all my
favorite people. Of a great take though, Wellie, that was fantastic,
thank you, thank you. And I've been to Oakland. I've

(39:59):
actually been a book to those buildings. And I'll tell
you one thing. I saw a Raiders game over at
that place, and well it was early. It was an
unbelievable place to go. And I saw the Warriors playing.
They tacked that place. So you know, you feel the
void there, and there's no question about Oakland did nothing
to keep it. It's a shame basically en a bottle
team blanded in Vegas. Both there. Yeah, right with that,

(40:22):
said Taylor, what you're in my town?

Speaker 3 (40:25):
Well, the Tigers, of course, again as usual that they
still have the best record in all of Major League
Baseball forty seven and twenty seven. They lead the Cubs
and the Mets each by a by a game and
a half. For that top of the heap, Cubs and
Mets are twenty eight. The Tigers let the series versus

(40:50):
the Reds get away, but they rebounded nicely with a
seven to three win over the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates. Sorry, Willie,
but yeah they yeah they did. Eric Scoober was supposed
to pitch tonight, but that game was rained out. But
there's a doubleheader Scooba will pitching game one, Paul Skins
pitching game two. Yes, most people would have would have

(41:14):
thought that that school was Schemes first. Schemes would have
been a hot ticket. But seriously, the main goal is
to win the World Series, no matter what the circumstances,
no matter what the matches. Just take what you what
you take the cards you're dealt with, and try to
make the most of it, period and just rolled on
from there.

Speaker 4 (41:37):
Jacob, Well, three things done the town.

Speaker 5 (41:40):
First off, the Braids one to night over, let's see
the brazy the Mets tonight five nothing, So there's that
part right there.

Speaker 4 (41:48):
So they're trying to bring themselves back. The second thing
is that.

Speaker 5 (41:53):
That day have just they're officially most likely and I
will say it again, probably gonna have hockey in Atlanta.
So regardless of anything, it's gonna tear if it doesn't
work out.

Speaker 4 (42:04):
One good thing that comes from this is gonna tear
down one of.

Speaker 5 (42:06):
Those ridiculous out of date malls that they have about
two miles from me, so at least it's gonna look
a lot better in that area. Third thing, the whole
of the Falcons fan base getting so excited for Michael Pennick. Okay,
you have every right, you have every right. The guy's

(42:27):
got a wonderful arm, tremendous arms, frement is everything. He's
got some and he's got Bejon around him. They can
have a really good offense for the next year. But
here's the deal. I'm just saying this whatsoever because this
is what fans do, and they forget about this. If
you're gonna keep bringing up Tyler Shuck and he's by
the way, he is a lot better than Tyler Shuck.

(42:47):
I thought Tyler Shuck is the second rounder was ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (42:50):
But here's the thing.

Speaker 5 (42:51):
If you're gona keep bringing up Tyler Shuck having three
season ending surgeries in college.

Speaker 4 (42:56):
You got to bring up Penixes two. You gotta bring
up Piggs too.

Speaker 1 (43:01):
But they refuse.

Speaker 5 (43:01):
You don't want that conversation. And that's the biggest issue
that they got to remember on this.

Speaker 4 (43:06):
It's like, that's why you keep Kirk Cousins around.

Speaker 1 (43:10):
You just don't know, Candy.

Speaker 8 (43:15):
So I'm gonna do two because you know I'm gonna
start with Wisconsin. The winningest Wisconsin basketball coach in state history,
Jerry Pettigu, died at the age of eighty four. He
coached for over sixty years, and like I said, he
was the winningest coach. So rip to him and all

(43:36):
that he coached. Now, I we all know what happened
last night Stanley Cup. So here, Miami, here's a wake
up call. In the last thirty years, the Heat have
had three titles. The my Main Marlins have had two titles.
Now the Florida Panthers have two titles. Miami Dolphins, where

(44:01):
are you the last thirty years?

Speaker 7 (44:02):
What have you done?

Speaker 8 (44:04):
Zero AFC Championship appearances at all? Get your act together,
Miami Dolphins and do something about it.

Speaker 1 (44:14):
Well, you know, I had a putnoe of the Miami thing.
Clayton McCullough by the way, was just announce as a
coach for the American National League All Star Team. He'll
rejoin Dave Roberts. He was a coach in the Dodgers
last year where he got to Miami.

Speaker 10 (44:25):
Job.

Speaker 1 (44:26):
So Clayton mccullo's good job. He's a great person. He
really is. Lily, you want to talk about one of
the nicest guys to work with, Clayton mccullo's class. I
love it every time I go there. He said, bring
on your tough questions and called me Scott. You know
my name right now? This guy and he right, Andy,
he knows me my name real well. We all know me.
What about there? Hey, Scott, how you doing. I'm ready

(44:46):
for you both. Pop him right down the metal, baby,
I'm telling you, glad you're going to the altar.

Speaker 7 (44:54):
I also do want to say congratulations to Bill Zito,
and I really give you the credit for the Panthers
because you brought to Chuck, you brought Brad marsha On,
you brought Sam Bennett, you brought Sam Reinhardt, all to
you brought to I mean, you brought so many of
their key players to the Panthers. You deserve that win.

(45:16):
And kudos to the Panthers for going out and sharing
this celebration. I've seen pictures where one of the team
members took the Stanley Cup to his neighbors and was
knocking on doors. Look at here's the like bringing it
to the fans. Bringing it to the local people so
that they get a sense of it and can share

(45:36):
in the excitement.

Speaker 8 (45:38):
That's what it's about, because the fans. If you don't
have the fans, then you know, what do you have?
So I really like that part of it.

Speaker 1 (45:46):
Okay, George and camping.

Speaker 10 (45:48):
On, Well, there's no joy in Mudville, the old saying
lent as Mighty Casey struck out where there's no joy
in hockey Town because again Steve Eiserman and Christopher Ella
Chefs rock out. Here we are again watching on television
another team, the back to back champion Panthers, do all

(46:09):
the celebrating. Well, hockey Town is quiet, and again the
Detroit Red Wings are just in a situation that nobody
could have guessed would happen. When things were flying high
and Stanley Cup banners were being flown from Joe Louis
Arena and Stanley cupps were being kissed at Hockey Town Cafe.

Speaker 6 (46:29):
I went through all that, Scott knows.

Speaker 10 (46:32):
You know, all you guys know that the Red Wings
were the talk of the NHL. But then all of
a sudden, salary caps, salary control things happen. Then things
went really bad in Detroit all of a sudden. But
the fact matter is that there's still hope. This team
has such an unbelievably loyal subscriber and season ticket base,

(46:55):
so there is hope.

Speaker 6 (46:56):
There's hope in hockey town. Maybe something can happen.

Speaker 10 (46:59):
But Boyle boy Heisman's got to make some moves this offseason,
no question about it, because this Detroit team cannot go
another year without missing the playoffs. Because if you don't
know this, in twenty twenty five, twenty six is the
one hundredth anniversary, and Scott and I are going to
get Ken Kell, the voice of the Red Wings, on
a future show on Sports Rap. But he's going to

(47:21):
talk about that the one hundredth anniversary and what the
Red Wings are going to celebrate.

Speaker 6 (47:25):
But they got to celebrate with a making the playoffs.
That'll be the best gift they could give Detroit. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (47:35):
What's that? Hire Scotty Bowman again, I go, I can't
go to a station breaker. Guys ended up guinting a timeout,
So if you want to put that up, will you
be the judge if you think that should go up?

Speaker 8 (47:49):
And he's apologizing that it wasn't him using it, and
he apologizes so.

Speaker 1 (47:53):
Okay, fair enough, he got time out. You give us
station breaks. We'll take this time out a few more topics.
We want to make sure we get out of here.
I ten am Eastern time. We're on track to do so.
You know guarantee I will move this show on very quickly.

Speaker 2 (48:06):
David Need's new friends. Sorry, yep, no problem.

Speaker 1 (48:10):
Good Enough.

Speaker 7 (48:14):

Speaker 1 (49:20):
Okay, well a quick question. Have you ever been to Dubai?

Speaker 2 (49:26):
Yes, yes, we went last year.

Speaker 1 (49:29):
Well, do you know what. Here's a great to buy
story that I want to put out there, Just a
great thing that came across my wire. So since you
went there last year, this may give people a reason
I want to go there and maybe not stay here
if you don't like it. But here's the deal. But
just look at the salary looking like when you talk
about the salary, that looks like after taxes cat desk.

(49:52):
The gross syctem we're talking about a thousand is one
thousand dollars federal tax, you end up zero, state tax,
and Social Security is ends up at zero, Manicare tax
is zero. Total tax is zero. Net incomb one million. Okay,
so we're talking about one million zero, So the tax

(50:14):
rate is zero percent. That don't get any better than that.
People zero percent taxes, right, will we I mean, I
mean think about it. A million bucks takes you a
long way if you don't have to worry about being
tax Yeah. I pulled it out of here because I
think you once told me you wanted to buy and
when this came across my eyes, I had to put

(50:35):
it up there. So I'll repeat for those of you
go at on audio that went then I went a
little too quick. So you're again you're talking about looking
like after taxes with your growth income being a million bucks,
federal tax zero Well, zero's across the board between your
growth intome, federal tax, state tax, social Security, Medicare tax,

(50:57):
total taxes that income a million bucks text rate zero percent.
Now that's the kind of two said. You want to
have everybody zero percent. Any questions, comments or objections to this.
I want some of that zero percent. That's candy. Put
that on on the board. Against this is a B R, I, L,
L and T person. All right, that's the Dubai story.

(51:20):
Now we're going back to the baseball part of the program,
as we do like the talk baseball Baseball doats May first,
nineteen ninety one. Excuse me, Rickey Henderson passes lu Bronckt
for first place on the all time list, and then,
obviously April twenty third, nineteen eighty seven, Vince Coleman steals
home in the first inning against the New York Mets

(51:43):
within US and they end up winning US. The Mets
winner slucks Pastoty twelve to nine. So what are your
talks about the King of steels? You got Vince Coleman
goes out there and he steals home, and we know
that Rickey Henderson who played in that place behind and
Willie stole a lot of bags. And you know what,

(52:04):
I'm selling two good weeks with candy where nobody have
to worry about me for a while and I apologize
for nothing. So Willie, you're a baseball guy. We're talking
about Ricky Henderson. We're talking about Lou Rock who goes
on who was the first on the all time list.
How do you like that for stealing a couple of
topics off of Instagram, which is my shorts? Sometimes there

(52:25):
you go, yeah.

Speaker 2 (52:26):
Get it, I get it, I can dig it. You
talk about records not just in baseball but in sports
that will probably never be broken, and Ricky Henderson holds
two of them with the all time steals record and
then the most stolen bases in the season. I think
he was one hundred and forty out of maybe one

(52:49):
hundred and fifty five or something like that. But if
you look at that, that is almost one stolen base
per game. You might be lucky if you get a
team to steal one base in a game these days.
And Vince Coleman, I think he was actually faster than
actually between Vince Coleman, Ricky Henderson, and lou Brock, Ricky

(53:14):
Henderson was probably the slowest of the three.

Speaker 1 (53:19):
Wow Saint Louis Cardinals. Vince Coleman steals home as didn't matter,
that's win it anyways. Still figure Candy, how many stolen
bases did Rickey Henderson have?

Speaker 8 (53:30):
He has one hundred and thirty. What he had in
the single season record for stolen bases was one hundred
and thirty and nineteen eighty two. He's the only player
in Ale history to steal one hundred bases in a season,
having done so three times eighty eighty two and eighty three.

Speaker 7 (53:45):
His one thousand, four hundred and six career steals is
fifty percent higher than the previous record of nine hundred
and thirty eight by Lou Brock.

Speaker 1 (53:57):
No, you have, for lou Brock actually met him Riverfront Stadium.
I actually met him at Riverfront Stadium many years ago
when I was covering the Dodgers and the Reds, and
he was actually there for an old timers game. So
Lou Brock. Of course, Ricky Hender fourteen hundred and six
steal restent piece with he We lost him late last year.

(54:19):
Any Georgia Emmy thoughts about these two incredibly fast stealing individuals.

Speaker 10 (54:26):
No, I just I can remember lou Brock way back
in the sixty eight World Series against the Tigers, and yeah,
you know his famous the famous armor of Willie Horton
and left field throwing out lou Brock at home plate.
But other than that, I mean, this guy had a
phenomenal career. I mean I admired them.

Speaker 1 (54:45):
I mean, and a.

Speaker 10 (54:46):
Little bit of jealousy too, because we all know how
how slow footed the Tigers were, with the exception of
Jake Wood around the floor.

Speaker 6 (54:54):
But you know, those guys were just incredible.

Speaker 10 (54:57):
You mentioned three great ones there, vince Ca Coleman and
then of course Brock and Ricky Henderson, just great, great athletes,
and they changed the they changed the game, the complexity
of the game, the game change. And I wish there
would be more stealing now. Like you said, Willie, there's
just teams that just don't do it. In detroits one
of them that does very little stealing.

Speaker 3 (55:20):
And he thought, so loves this one, Taylor, Well, Ricky Henderson,
of course, it's it's still the fastest ever in my eyes,
no matter what people saying. Kenny pointed this out fifty
percent higher than Lou Brock historically of all time. That
proves it right there. End of story.

Speaker 1 (55:43):
You go, Jacob, you the story of following him before
we go.

Speaker 4 (55:46):
To that story of Ricky Henderson.

Speaker 5 (55:48):
When they did they showed a John three to sixteen sign,
he says, I'm not really interested in John hitting three sixteen.

Speaker 4 (55:53):
I'm Ricky at in three thirty. I enjoyed that one
from him.

Speaker 5 (55:58):
It's like he's although, but really overall, I got to
think about this too, Vince Coleman, he only played twelve years.

Speaker 4 (56:06):
He had twelve years and seven hundred and fifty of
stolen bases.

Speaker 1 (56:09):
I think he had a gruesome leg injury too. Yeah, yeah,
I don't think it was there was the same after
that injury.

Speaker 5 (56:15):
But absolutely, But think of it this way, he had
almost all He had probably sixty percent of the steel
with White Herzey.

Speaker 1 (56:24):
Yeah, I believe that. Well know that. Wait, well yeah,
we all know the waity was big on the running game,
that's for sure. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (56:31):
Yeah, And it's like he had sixty percent of those
and all that kind of stuff. Ricky had fourteen hundred
and six in twenty five seasons. That just shows he
was an a but he was an absolute athlete. But really, overall,
what if Vince got twenty five could he have could
he have broken sixteen hundred and seventeen hundred if he

(56:52):
would have had just the knupper he at people that
would have stolen bases he got that's seven hundred and
fifty and twelve years. So could he have busted it
if he didn't have those gruesome leg Actually.

Speaker 1 (57:03):
Oh yeah, no, I mean that's true. That'll be a
debate that lingers on forever. All right, let's go to show. Hey,
oh Tommy, who made his first appearance on the Hill
earlier in the week, obviously Era nine point zero zero
one one versus San Diego one. He pitched two hits,
one wild pitch, one check by five walks in those strikeouts.

(57:24):
So all right, Willie, what are your talks about his debut.
It's been a while, Timmy John surgery and all, but
it was good to see him out there. And I
just wonder how much under he's gonna pitch. But as
long as he can, sure they will about his debut.

Speaker 2 (57:37):
Yeah, as a fan of the sport, I love to
see it. But at the same time, as a fan
who absolutely despises the Dodgers, I don't have to ever
see him pitch again. But that's just me.

Speaker 1 (57:56):
Oh that's okay, that's fair. What about you and Taylor?
What do you talk about his attack on the hill.

Speaker 3 (58:02):
He's only getting warmed up, That's that's one thing for sure.
I think he'll redevelop as a pitcher, but but for now,
it's a hitter. He's been invincible. That's the truth.

Speaker 1 (58:14):
Okay, Jacob, he can't.

Speaker 5 (58:18):
I mean, we know what he is on this, but
he's going to get himself older, and when you get older,
it's just a little bit of an issue. I don't
I say, if he's in a World Series again, use
him as an extra pitcher. I mean, he did the
one inning this last time or whatever, and he might
be a heck of a weapon in the World Series,
you know, for something along those lines. But I don't
want six seven innings out of him anymore. I really do,

(58:40):
especially especially there might be a time, as you got,
especially now with Aaron Judge Aaron Judges in the three eighties,
three seventy three nineties, that whatever, you don't think that
show Ham is not not capable of that. It's like
you're not. But he's not going to get those while
he's pitching. Also, and then you could also effect him

(59:01):
if he has to do another Tommy John somewhere down
the line. I say, quit trying to beat bag Bruce
records and do all that kind of stuff, because you're
both that ninety four wins. Quit doing all that and
just focus. He's got his rain, go go for some
more rings.

Speaker 1 (59:15):
Enough candy.

Speaker 8 (59:17):
His first pitch was ninety seven point six mile power fastball,
low in the strike zone he reached. He only threw
twenty eight pitches, but he threw one hundred point two
on the radar gun in his first outing back. That

(59:38):
that's I mean, as I've sat and watched Sandy al Kantara,
he came back from Tommy John and this is his
first year back again and he had he had the
same similar outing as show hated in the beginning. They're
not They're not as effective. It takes time. We can't

(59:58):
expect these guys that were cy Young Award winners before
to come back.

Speaker 7 (01:00:03):
And just have it lights out right from the start. Yes,
the speed is there, but their effectiveness just isn't there.
And Sandy is having a hard year coming back from
this and having the same results as what he had before.
I'm just going to say it.

Speaker 8 (01:00:22):
I think I read a stat the other day that
thirty six percent of the major league pitchers have had
Tommy John surgery at this point that are playing out
there right now.

Speaker 9 (01:00:33):
Fair enough Georgia final word on the top of August
twenty third, twenty twenty three, and that was when the
last time he pitched in a big league game.

Speaker 10 (01:00:45):
I'm not disappointed Scott. I think that he did okay.
Obviously there was not a lot of pressure on him
in the first inning, as opposed to bringing him innute
to clean up or save the game where they would
not want They did not want to do that, of course,
but the jury is still let's face it. I mean,
we know what he can do as a hitter, as

(01:01:05):
a slugger, a tremendous, tremendous effect on the game and
in the Dodgers line up, so I'm sure that they're
going to take a very cautious approach to this.

Speaker 6 (01:01:14):
That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
What we're going to do right now is we're going
to give everybody an opportunity to their party shots, and
I'm going to leave Jacob with his fund and his
fundment towards the very end because I like giving him
the final word on a lot of things, because obviously
he has some pretty good topics. Fair enough, that's how
we'll do it. So we'll start off with our party shots.
I'm going to lead off this time because this is
something that I think is really important. That the grass
isn't always greener on the other side. And you're going

(01:01:38):
to understand what I mean in just a moment. The
Florida Board of Governors has rejected former Michigan President Santo
Ono for the presidency of the University of Florida. A
learning experience for problems. The learning experience for the whole
thing is your problems. Catch up with you when you
run from them, which is very very true. Whatever problems

(01:02:01):
he had, you can't go ahead and think you're gonna
leave ann Arbor and the snow and the ice and
expect to go to the beaches anywhere else, because it
isn't that way. Because here's the thing he had come under.
He had actually come under criticism from conservatives in Florida
who were troubled by his previous support of diversity, equity

(01:02:22):
and inclusion initiatives. And when you run across those problems,
you leave at president's job at Michigan, you go to Florida,
and then you don't get it that problem because where
is he going next? Michigan not bringing him back, and
Florida didn't want him. Sorry, you got a national championship

(01:02:43):
at ann Arbor and does Swamp doesn't want you, No
Billy Naypier. But you had Jim Harbaugh go figure Santol.
I wish you well at your next occupation because it's
not going to be again and you're not going back
to ann Arbor, all right? Will parting shots?

Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
Well, I mean you, since you brought up diversity, equity
and inclusion, let me say this, and I'm not gonna
get political or churchy or any of those things, because
for me, it's a matter of right and wrong. Okay,
I don't care what color you are. I don't care

(01:03:25):
what your religion is. I don't care what your political
affiliation is. I could care less if you are a liberal,
or if you are a conservative, or if you are
a moderate. I don't care who you love. I don't
care about the person that you love and what they
look like. I don't care about any of those things.

(01:03:48):
And if anybody knows me after doing shows for all
these years, they know that. So for the guy that
came on earlier and said what he said, you know,
if you want me to look at who you are,
show me your friends. So if your friends are saying
that and your friends with them, then to me, you

(01:04:10):
are more the complicit in the situation, and you become
a part of the problem and not the solution. People
like me that look like me, we are trying to
be a part of a solution that I don't think
we're ever gonna see in my lifetime. And that is okay,
but that does not mean that I'm going to stop.

(01:04:32):
Earlier today on Twitter, I posted a quote and it
basically said this, in order for us to become what
we want to become, we have to unbecome what we
currently are. And some people are just so set in
their ways to where they don't even have the mental

(01:04:54):
aptitude to see past their raggedy sales. And I've been there,
see past our raggedy sales in order to find out that,
you know what, there's way more things that we have
in common than people think.

Speaker 1 (01:05:09):
Excellent, take it really is, Wily, thanks for coming behind
this person who got in here. And it's just too
bad we had to see it tonight, But I'm glad
that you were able to make a voice of strong opinion.
And I think what you did there is absolutely dynamite.
I really do will and it's for Santo. Oh no, no,
this is a great thing. If I bring up certain

(01:05:29):
controversial topics, I love it when you come back behind me, okay,
And that's why I always lean on you for these
first because I expect that thing called great minds, thinking
like and you seem to have that one down back.
It's okay if I come up with a topic and
you have something that comes to mind and bring it out.
That's what I love about you. Billy, I swear to
God as a friend and a brother. You and I

(01:05:51):
both understand a lot of things. We've lived a lot
in a lot of different levels, and that's just unbelievable.
You deserve to be applauded for that. And if Martin
Luther's their tea, can you a hug? He do it
wherever he's at christ and doctor Kaine. But doctor Kane
just you know, University of Florida doesn't a nice campus one. Okay, Taylor,
what's your friend? Well?

Speaker 3 (01:06:15):
I heard George mentioned and talk about the the Red Wings. Uh,
while the Panthers were winning back to one, back to
back Stanley Cup championships. I got to remind you and Jacob,
the Red Wings already have Todd McLellan as their head coach.
He he reminded the team, He reminded the media that
the team was lacking toughness and that's exactly what they

(01:06:38):
actually need to have. No matter no matter how they
fare in this upcoming NHL now current NHL offseason, whether
it's the draft or free agency, they have to play
tougher or not be a bunch of whiney presses, if
you know what I mean. Dylan Larkin, for example, has

(01:06:58):
to be better for any adversity on the ice, whether
it be on or off the ice, whether it be
against the referees being against him and his mind, or
not getting any momentum of the dead at the trade deadline.
Get over that stuff, Dylan, like I mentioned before, get

(01:07:21):
tougher physically and mentally, and be more aggressive on the
ice and yell at more chances to win and make
the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (01:07:30):
Earn it, period, Give me that passion, Taylor, earn it,
tailing it good stuff. George Morton, well leave Jacob let
because then he gets his fun and fun a moment.

Speaker 10 (01:07:47):
One of the things that we see a lot is
the contraction of our sports broadcasters, and this one really
hits home for me and Scott. You know, we saw
John Keating having to retire, We saw Mickey Yorke being
forced out of his job, and now our dear friend
Trevor Thompson is losing his job as a commentator for

(01:08:10):
what we now call fan Dual Sports.

Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
In Detroit commentary as a report, It's.

Speaker 6 (01:08:16):
Okay, this is my job, okay, Taylor.

Speaker 10 (01:08:21):
Trevor Thompson is a man that should not be treated
this way and neither should Mickey Yorke or John Keating.
I know, John, you said you officially retired, but I'm sorry,
I don't know if that's one hundred percent true, but
I'll take you at your word. We are sick of
sports broadcasters who earn their keep in this town being
forced to retire like Bernie Smile of it, or being

(01:08:44):
shoved out the door. And uh, it's just getting ridiculous
and it has to stop.

Speaker 6 (01:08:50):
You know you you have budgets.

Speaker 10 (01:08:52):
Yeah, I know that, and you have only certain amount
of money to go around. But listen, Detroit is one
of the top sports towns in America.

Speaker 6 (01:08:59):
We know that we all have. So what you got
to do is you got to make sure.

Speaker 10 (01:09:03):
You have room and put on the air these great voices.

Speaker 6 (01:09:08):
Don't take them off the air, keep them on the air.
That's it.

Speaker 1 (01:09:12):
Well, I've always told Trevor Thompson, the best thing that's
gonna happen to you now is you get a hockey
job nationally. He's that good, I think, Trevor, Well, I'll
probably reach out to any neck there. So let no, no,
I'm leave me what I'm thinking about him. So now
I'll send him some great videos all over the place
and me going to this grat thing. You'll see. Hey,
at least you can travel. But anyway, I love Trevor Thomson.
I love him all. Trevor is like a brother and me.

(01:09:34):
Every time I get sick, he's always praying. It seems
like you're praying every time. Anyway, But spell Trevor Thompson
if you ever meet this guy, to me, he's a
person that you can always look for it. How do
you define the word class t R E V O
R T h O M P s O N. Trevor,
if you're a subscriber to this, which I think you are,
you're hearing it and you're gonna hear it from me
any day through tech. God love you, Trevor. Okay, on

(01:09:56):
to Katie and then Jacob, and then he gets a
fund and funded moment, and and I'm planning to get
Willie out by bedtime. So I've better keep my big
mouse shut and do my more my mind talking on
the road, Dad, I.

Speaker 7 (01:10:08):
Know we talked a little bit about this yesterday on
Inside the Pigskin, But I just want to say congratulations
to Cornell Powell. He is now the first player in
history to win a college football national championship twice, two
times Super Bowl champion, and if you didn't know this,

(01:10:30):
he won a UFL championship on some on this past weekend,
UH with the DC Defenders. First person to do all
three of those, so kudos to him.

Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
All Right, well, I'm gonna say my reinforcement moment of
the show go to Dubai zero Fell to get that
in it. Go ahead, Jacob, because I know you're gonna
get your parting shot. Then you get your saying Stephen A.

Speaker 4 (01:11:02):
Smith.

Speaker 5 (01:11:06):
People are going up to you a little bit for
the whole playing solitaire on a time out on a
time out of the Indiana and Oklahoma City game.

Speaker 1 (01:11:16):
We know why.

Speaker 5 (01:11:17):
A lot of it is jealousy. You are making you
one hundreds of million. So but here's the thing though
I don't have an issue with it myself, but personally,
here's the thing from it.

Speaker 4 (01:11:28):
It looks lazy. You were a journalist, and a very
very very very very very.

Speaker 5 (01:11:35):
Hard working journalist for a long time. You work your
way up to where you are right now, but now
you look like you basically look like the guy who
got two hundred million dollars and hits two thirty four.
You look, that's what it looks like to a lot
of people. You if you're in basketball, you're fine. But
all the subjects you're nothing. You don't study, and that's.

Speaker 1 (01:11:59):
The big thing.

Speaker 5 (01:11:59):
But here's the big deal about this too. You're looking
to do politics. You're looking to get yourself as a
possible presidential candidate. And no matter what you're saying, that's
what you're looking into. Because you're showing up on Bill
Maher and you've showing up in all these other places.
This is ain't gonna help you. This isn't gonna help you whatsoever.

(01:12:20):
Because people are gonna show in the middle of all that.
They're gonna show you with that bone in your hand
doing that in the middle of time out instead of,
you know, studying things. They're gonna wonder if you're gonna
do that during anything in the White House, any kind
of meeting, any.

Speaker 4 (01:12:34):
Of that kind of stuff.

Speaker 5 (01:12:37):
When you do something like that and you're shown on camera,
it looks like you're handed everything, even though you weren't.
You weren't handed everything. You worked for so many years,
you had to get fired from ESPN one time. You've
worked your way up. But you know this isn't a
world that that This is a world that has like
a fish, you know, basically they have the what's the

(01:13:01):
word for it, they know, you know, like this anyway,
I'm thinking about it for a second here, But they
have the They basically have an eight second attention attencha span.
They have the attention span of a fish. Eight seconds.
They're not gonna remember those times that you were.

Speaker 4 (01:13:17):
They're not.

Speaker 5 (01:13:19):
They're just gonna remember the now and they're gonna show
that little thing in their hand doing that kind of stuff.
You're gonna wonder are you gonna do that in the
White House? Say that you wont trust me who we
have in the White House? Now, yes, you can win,
because it's a celebrity deal.

Speaker 1 (01:13:35):
You can.

Speaker 5 (01:13:36):
So this is the crazy thing. Snoop dog could win
now you can't tell. So if you're gonna be ready
for this world and you want to get your hundred
million dollars, you might want to grind a little more
and quit lookalike, it's handed to you. Quit act like
the two thirty four hit, or after you got your money,

(01:13:59):
start work in a little bit. That's the big thing,
because if you really want to go to another level
like that, if you truly want to, you got to
get yourself out there, and you've got to be able,
and you've got to grind one more time.

Speaker 1 (01:14:17):
It's really good. I enjoyed that. Is that your party shot?
Oh they're all in the same Okay? How powerful is that? Willie? Anythink?
As Jimmy Walker would say, am I loaded with all

(01:14:38):
kinds of energy? You will what happened? I love you?
Will you know how I feel about your brother? It
is what it is. A good times. That's what we're
having tonight here in the sports team, and we'll do
it again July, same group, different topics. I'll be crazier,
only with more stories and crazier.

Speaker 4 (01:14:58):
I think Candy knows you're crazy anyway.

Speaker 1 (01:15:00):
Well that's okay, so tell her something that Okay, it
is what it is?

Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
All right?

Speaker 1 (01:15:04):
With that said, we all time for everybody. Let everyone
they get old and we'll start off the fly right
hand man, my co host Willie Epik, go ahead, Well everywhere,
now they get hold of you.

Speaker 2 (01:15:14):
Oh I thought I was done.

Speaker 1 (01:15:16):
No, you're not done. Everybody how to find you? You
want to be done? Get your ID?

Speaker 3 (01:15:21):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:15:22):
Yeah of an audience? Not too bad. Let all the
two hundred and fifty people that are kindly watching us
to let them know how they get old and shake
that man?

Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
Is that is it? That many?

Speaker 6 (01:15:32):
Man?

Speaker 1 (01:15:32):
Yeah, we're doing pretty good on this show. We don
good ratings on this show, but your channel and my
channel we do some really good stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
That's very THI that's wild. I mean for people to
tune into this crew, this Moley crew for that long, Wow,
that's amazing.

Speaker 1 (01:15:49):
We must be I'm just wait a minute. We must
be doing something right. We're entertaining. You know, we have
information and entertain Go ahead, get your information of all time.

Speaker 2 (01:15:59):
I think that's what it is, because it certainly can't
be intelligence with me and you, Scooter, So I don't
know anyway.

Speaker 1 (01:16:11):
I already have to have my humble pipe and all
that crow well done. So all right.

Speaker 2 (01:16:17):
So shake Back Media group on Twitter is can't I
can't spell it out because it's they only allow so
many correct characters. So it's s h K B K
M E D I A g r P. Shake Back
Media group spelled out on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, on uh

(01:16:38):
TikTok it is at coach Willie. We also have my
wife and I Patrise have don't jump life coaching solutions.

Speaker 2 (01:17:03):
I appreciate that man. It means a lot.

Speaker 1 (01:17:05):
