Speaker 1 (00:23):
Good leaving everybody. Welcome to another edition of the Sports Exchange.
My name is Scott Morgan, Round Fader City, man Mouth.
I had to have a night crew on hand today.
I want to welcome for the first time of the
Sports Exchange. Kerrie Johnson, Welcome to the podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Well, thank you for the invite.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
You're very welcome. Best known for Chicks and Sosa and
Three Chicks in a Pot along with Candy. So we
have two of the two of the four and wegos
in the house. Great stuff, kid center around and make
it on at some point. Yes, Si Rusie, welcome to
the show. Candy Epling on here all the time, Oh
great stuff, thank you. Good here, and Willie Epting is back.
(00:59):
I'd have it back. And finally mister pundit Jacob Christener, well.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
It's going on to my third show and I keep on.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Going on. We have a bid the agenda tonight, so
let's get too and I want to make sure everybody
gets out on time. And that's what that we're going
to target. But we're starting with a real big broadcasting update,
and you come from FS one canceling their morning slate
because of poor ratings. The shows that are being actually
canceled at the facility with Emanuel Azzo, Lashawn McCoy, James Jones,
(01:34):
Chase Daniel breakfast Ball, Craig Carton, Mark Shlaire, Danny Parkins,
and speak with Joy Taylor, Keishawn Johnson, Paul Pierce. So
I'm gonna get to that first. I know that Joy
Taylor has been a part of some sexual harassment allegations.
(01:54):
I'm not going to get too deep into that because
I don't want to realize that Fox Is Morning Slate
has always been in question anyways, They're having a very
difficult time competing with ESPN, but Joy Taylor is certainly
one of the big names involved in this. Carrie, What's
what's your take on all of what's transpiring at FS one.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
I would say that Joy was brought to the network
for the ratings and then with carrying the name, carrying
her name and her legacy, you know, her father's legacy.
So I feel like that kind of was a main
reason to have have her have a show is to
(02:38):
bring the ratings. It also has brought some drama, and
we know that even on ESPN they drop those with
drama pretty quick with especially when it's a second with
sexual harassed or indiscretions probably want to go with that.
(03:00):
But uh, I feel like that that was something that
was when that started coming out, I was I'm surprised
it's taken this long that it that they did something
about it. But I do you feel bad? I do,
Like I've always liked Kisha and John and so kind
of sad for him and the fact that he brings
an interesting view and I always liked listening to his commentary.
(03:26):
But it was a little shocking but not surprising.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Candy, let's face a.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
ESPN did the same thing and shook things up and
let people go. You know, at some points throughout the
last couple of years they let go of some of
the highest paid people. Some people say they were good,
some people say they weren't. I mean, every every station,
every network is going to do that from time to time.
(03:56):
They need they want to get more ratings. They got
to someone shape things up up. And sometimes it's the
people that we like that are getting like ow and
sometimes it's the people that deserve to be let go.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Let go.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
It happens in business all the time. You know that
business is hard, hard cut because it's ratings driven, so
it's popularity, it's uh finding the right combination to compete
with all the other choices that people have.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
Really, yeah, I agree with what everybody else has said
in terms of the ratings and all that, I for
one didn't really I'm not I never really was a
Joy Taylor fan. I understand that she has a certain
look that a lot of people like.
Speaker 6 (04:50):
Keishawn. He's okay, I did like I did like James
Jones though he was he was pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (04:56):
But I think I think this we should look at this.
It's just a little bit deeper though, because the old stigma,
especially when it comes to the two females who are
really really good at this job, they take it on
the chin because of people like Joy Taylor and what
she has alleged to have done. So my hope is
(05:20):
that what she is to have leeds to have done
does not set the female audience back, with the female
professional back in this particular space because of what she
has allegedly alleged to have done. So, there are so
many talented young ladies out there. We got two of
(05:40):
them on here right now. There's two others that you
mentioned earlier, Scooter. I have several of them on my
team as well. So I think it'd be up to
people like us to make sure that we shed the
light on the positivity that the females bring to this business.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Couldn't agree more, Jacob. Let me also add like to
what you just said, though for on Jacob takes the
wlock pretty much feels the same his comments or nun
believe we got to hear this. Joy Taylor got her
break at FS one by using her body and her
pee power. Okay, that's pretty strong stuff. WILLI you want
(06:16):
to react to that statements that.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
The first on this? Will can I say something on this?
I don't trust Jason Whitlock as far as I can
throw them, I can throw him two feet because of
on foot, maybe because he's so big, but I don't.
I'm not a fan of Jason Whitlock. And it's like
that he's gonna and he can be right or not.
He's let's put you this way. He's lost trust from
both the conservative and the liberal side. No one trusts
(06:42):
the guy. It's like he lost Ben Shapiro's trust. If
you lose his, that's telling you something. But here's the
biggest thing about it is she got those she got
those allegations, Joy Taylor did. Then this is this is
a theory of mine. Now I'm saying this. I don't
(07:04):
quite knowing this, but I have a theory on what
happened to their ratings. She got those allegations, and then
she said that she doesn't like any guy who's overly
churchy or whatever. However, she said the deal, right. The
thing is, people think these people that are in these
coasts and me, remember, Carrie, are you living Do you
(07:28):
live in Kansas City?
Speaker 2 (07:30):
No? I live in southwest Missouri.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
You live in Missouri. Though, Yes, these people that have
these coasts the New York at Las, that's twenty one
percent of the country, something along those lines, they think
that that's the whole world. You get a Missouri, you
get a Nebraska, you get in Iowa, you get all
though those are all watchers, those are all church going people.
(07:54):
They don't want to hear that kind of stuff. They
don't want to hear it, no matter if she's really
good at what she does or not. But this is
the thing also, this is the different type of media.
She just like anybody else, just like Steven A or
just like anybody else. They'll blow it away on a podcast.
If they want to do it that way, they'll get
(08:14):
the they'll get the people because podcasts allow you, they
allow you to give me. I mean by itself. The
big thing is say that there are people that like
Joy Taylor. They're just quote unquote not enough, they'll say,
based off the ratings. But there's a lot of people
that will listen to a Joy Taylor alone. There's a
(08:37):
person there's enough that will want to listen to stephen
A alone, all of those. That's the big deal with it.
There's right now, what's gonna be replacing the thing on
Fox is Dave Portnoy. He's already gonna be signing. So
Portnoy's gonna be signed. They already made the news on that.
But Dave Portnoy already has podcasting and stuff like that itself.
(08:58):
This is just adding extra to it. But she could
just add her stuff right now. She'd had her stuff
right now. She'll get her audience. That's just the way
it is.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Great to anything else you want to add all good.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Sorry, Look to Jacob's point, bass Pro is forty minutes
from my house in Spring, Missouri. I worked at bass
Pro when the Uncle Buck calendar. If you're not aware
that it is. It would was rivaling Sports Illustrated swimsuit calendar,
(09:36):
only it was around outside sporting events. And yes, I
live where when you land at the airport you hear
the belt buckle of the Bible belt. So things like
that don't fly well in the Midwest. It is what
it is, So yeah, I'm here. That's one way to
(10:01):
hang yourself in the Midwest.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
The one guy I actually feel for in this whole
thing is Mark Schlaurer Candy and I met him at
the super Bowl in Miami at a tasting of that
Mark on the nice guy you'll ever meet. I know,
as I understand he still will be able to do
his games, calling his games, and he's only ten months
into the show. Then they let it go. So I
hope that Mark lands something else. But Mark Schlair to
(10:24):
me as one of the classiest people I have ever
met in my years in the visits. That's sir Jason Whitlock.
I have no respect for the guy, and I'll leave
it at that.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
I just rolled by every time I hear his word
go ahead there.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Willie, I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Yeah, let me cannot chime in real quick by all
means dude, listen, Jacob, I hear what you're saying. And Carrie,
I hear what you're saying about the demographics of the
location of where everybody is in the country. I understand
the demographics of politics either being you either being a
(10:58):
conservative or liberal. I don't give a rats rear end
what political affiliation you have. I don't give a rats
rear in if you are a conservative, moderate, liberal, Whig party,
I don't care. There's just no there's only two there's
(11:20):
only two standards of two bars of standard that we
should judge anything on, and that is right or wrong,
period period. So while these people who are claiming to
be these Bible carrying gun total scripture quoting people are
the same ones that periodically are the same ones that
(11:46):
hate people that are a different color than they are.
So it doesn't matter to me what part of the
political spectrum.
Speaker 6 (11:54):
You're on now. In terms of Joy Taylor and all
the rest, they're gonna be fine.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
I mean, they're gonna go out there and they're gonna
get a couple of they're gonna get a couple of sponsors,
and they're gonna start their own podcast, and they're gonna
do all this they're gonna do all that. And we're
really witnessing a shift, a real time shift in how
media and how the media is and how it's being
handled in terms of UH from an organizational organizational standpoint.
Speaker 6 (12:23):
So, Jason Whitlock, do.
Speaker 5 (12:28):
We spend too much time on this particular subject wasting
our breath collectively and individually? Just when when Scooter said,
Jason Whitlock, that was too much time right.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
There said and I was agreeing with that.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
I can't say, you know what, and you know what,
here's the thing. Thanks to you, Willie, you intercepted any
more interaction on Jason Whitlock that I don't really give
a time about him either. But let's talk about some
potential successors here in FS. One interesting name, Tony Reality
worked extremely hard on pardon the interrupt on excuse me
(13:04):
around the horn. He's a really big workaholic, did a
pretty good job. Max Kellerman is being considered. And a
lady by the name of Kay Adams. So Willie, I'm
gonna start with you on this. We're your talks about
these three individuals as potential successors.
Speaker 6 (13:18):
I love Kay Adams, she knows her stuff.
Speaker 5 (13:23):
I was a little surprised when she left Good Morning Football,
but I understand it because she did the same thing
without getting fired.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
So I'm a real big fan of hers and anybody.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
That's anybody that's doing it the right way and they're
not throwing anybody else under the bus or having clickbait
type of material. Yo, I will support them even if
I don't agree with them. For instance, I don't really
particularly care for steven A's takes on a lot of things,
(13:57):
especially when it comes to the people that look like
me and him in our community.
Speaker 6 (14:02):
I don't really appreciate a lot.
Speaker 5 (14:03):
Of his takes right, but I can respect it because
of what the passion that he brings to the table,
and he does somewhat do it the right way, but
he's as long as you're consistently doing it the way
that it's supposed to be done, I want everybody to win.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Willie, you're you said this about steven A. Steven A
is already thinking politics. Let's just be very honest. He's
trying to get votes. He's trying to get votes for
the future. In four years, he's gonna he's gonna go
for that. That's why he's talking like that. That's why
it's there. But you brought up the replacements to Scott.
We gotta remember, I just brought up Dave Portnoy. He's gonna,
(14:45):
he's gonna, he's gonna sign with that beast, so he's
gonna be one of them, right.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
And it's like, and.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
You're talking, Dave Portnoy is one of those people that
do the that do what you don't like Willie, He's
one of those that absolutely does that. But like I
was saying, though I know you were saying with politics
and all that willing and all that, I see what
you're saying with it. What I'm saying is like when
they bring up, you know what a lot of these
people that live on these coasts, when they live over there,
(15:14):
they think they have the thought process all the time
that they are the only ones. And boy, Carrie was
correct on that. The belt buckle of the Bible bell
I love it. That was a good one. And it's
like I love that, and it's like they had this
thought process that those are the only ones that matter.
We fly over these states and they're the only ones
that watch. It's like you can't do that. You have
(15:38):
to atone whether anybody likes it, or not for every watcher,
everyone that watches, and all that stuff like that. And
the biggest thing is Joyce Taylor knows what she's doing.
She knows what she's talking about. She's you watch her responsors,
her ratings. You watch all those go up the minute
she gets a podcast. But they she gave. She gave
(16:01):
it out with the ratings, with the way that she
was talking about, Oh, I don't want anybody that's completely
churchy or whatever. She gave the out for anybody that
didn't like her because she was black. And there are
ones that are like that. There are ones that are
like that. No, Willie, you're correct on that, there are
ones that like that. But she gave the out to
those idiots by saying that because they gave them, they
(16:24):
gave them their own excuse.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Let me go over one or two things that I
think is important. Hey, Joshua Dora, I know you guys
are talking in the chat about specific things, so I
want to make things abundantly clear here. We're not talking
politics per se. We're talking about individuals that are politically
doing specific things. I want to preface that by saying
number two, Max Kellerman got run out of ESPN because
(16:50):
of Steven A. Smith, And I thought that that was
a bad pairing to begin with because Stephen A. Smith,
in terms of his plamboyant, polarizing figure, was way too
much for Max Kellerman, who's a very highly educated person,
and he was never on the same page or even
in an intelligent conversation with Smith. So how that partnership
lasted as long as it did as anybody's guest, But
(17:12):
I think Max could succeed that FS one. It all
depends on if there's any non compete clause that's in existent.
And two, Tony Reality is a hard worker. And Kay Adams,
you guys did a pretty good job from writing, so
Josha want to make it very clear that you have
some interesting comments in the chatroom. I just don't know,
(17:35):
as far as I'm concerned, what they're going to do
in terms of what we can provide to the show
at the current moment, unless you guys want to look
at them and dress them really quickly. But I think
I've tried to clarify it as as much candy if
there's anything worthwhile to bring up and do it. But
I want to move on to the third topic because
I know a couple of people. We have to make
sure it's all time and sensitive. They keep them on
(17:57):
for all the topics that we can anything that looks
in andy, but as far as the three such and
I want to make sure Kerry and Candy get an
opportunity to talk about these successors, and then we'll talk
about one more ESPN program that went off the air.
So I don't know who Chris Turk is. So anybody
know who Chris dark is? Good? Okay, Rox, you got
no heads here? Okay, no heads, Chris Stark's off the table,
(18:18):
thanks very much. All right, there you go. So what
that said? I don't know what your question is to Jacob? Okay,
so rephrase it, Jacob Canndley. He's dealt with you before
and he'll deal with you against. Are you all right?
We don't care about that, okay, non applicable? So yeah,
all right, you got you got us. Yeah, it's called
nonverbal communication. But we didn't go yet. All right, can
(18:40):
you give me your thoughts about the potential successors. I
know I'm out and Tony Reality, Max Kellerman, Kay Adams.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
So, to be honest with you, I don't watch a
lot of morning sports television because normally I'm working or
I'm sleeping and stuff like that. I'll be honest with
you know, I work, do I think?
Speaker 2 (19:05):
But go ahead?
Speaker 4 (19:09):
Is there a place for them obviously now that they're
letting these all these other people some I remember seeing
Killerman on you know, ESPN and.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
Kudos.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Give them a second shot, give them a shot on
this other network. You know, sometimes you get hired for
a job and it's the wrong place, the wrong time,
and it's the wrong situation. And that's you know, when
you fall because you're the one that is gonna take
the blame and you're the one that's gonna get cut.
(19:40):
It's kind of like some of these coaching jobs, these
one and done's, or these short you know, short coaching
stints where there's no they don't give them enough time
to develop the team. We've seen some of that in
the coaching field. The same could be in the broadcast field.
You know, was Max the right person and for to
(20:00):
be mid matched with Stephen A no? No, you know,
so kudos let him, let him hire him and let's
see how he does, you know, on a different platform.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Hey, Josh, I'm gonna stay with this one more time.
The Chris conversation is done. Period, we move on. Kerry,
go ahead. You have the three names I mentioned.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
You know, Max is the reason why I started watching
the steven A show to begin with. So I like
his intelligence. I like that he is. He can play
the ad, the deavil advocate and the proponent that you know.
He can give you a more complete view instead of
a steven A is a very passionate and he picks
(20:44):
a point and that's the point he stays on. Max
can give you a well more well rounded I liked
Max and that was why I started watching stephen A.
I was disappointed when Max was taking off ESPN completely,
so I'd like to see him have a show. As
far as a woman, I you know, I have the
(21:06):
few that I know name recognition, but I don't watch
FS very much FS one, so I don't have the
depth of names there. But I hope that the female
that they go with promotes women in the industry and
shows up with a working I think that is not
(21:29):
based on sex appeal, and that the sexual aspect I want.
I think it's more important for women in the sporting
industry to show that it's not just about us having
the sex part of it. It is our passion, our
(21:51):
knowledge and our views do have a value, and that's
that's important to me. That's why we have our three
chicks and chicks and sauces, so we have a voice.
We could present our take because it is a valid take.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
I'll give one extra to carry. Let's just get chickens
and salsa on FS one.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
Okay, listen, I want to be I want to have
one of those contracts so that I get paid every
I want to beneaa day. But we can have it.
We can call it chicken sauce a day for the
next time.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
I say, I'm just giving it to the say here's
the deal. This is the thing I say with this,
and I'm just saying this in the biggest possible respect.
Carry I say this part here. Have an all women show,
or don't or the thing is based off of the thing,
or just give the thing because there's one. They'll add
(22:44):
the woman onto the thing and they get overwhelmed completely
by a lot of the powerful men voices. They get
themselves overwhelmed. It's like, you get to this whole thing,
It's like, let's have the women show. Let it because
that's gonna be another crowd they have women of all
women bars now out for sports. Let them have it.
Go for the thing. It is obviously showed that they're
(23:05):
watching them. It's obviously just if they're having women's bar.
If they're women's bars for sports, and there's like four
states now to have them, it's obvious. I used to
say before this happened, put it on and see if
it sells. It's sold, it is, so bring a women's
show on there. It's obviously showed that.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Ill self, I agree, there's a lot of intelligent women
out there that go out there and bring a lot
to the sports industry. I can do another show on
how many great ones are in sports women. As you
can get my book It's Candy, gonna go to a
station breaking a few minutes, you'll see them missus. That thing,
you know, FS one should be shut down the way
it's being run right now. I can tell you can
(23:48):
make a very good case for that comment, because what
they're doing in the morning is absolutely awful. It really is,
and they need to get it figured out. They need
to get it figured out. If any of these options
are viable, that's fine. So I and one thing about
Max Tellerman, his big strong suit happens to be boxing anyways,
he loves a better boxing analyst out there and he
and he does roll well of it. Let's continue onward.
(24:10):
ESPN did air a final episode of Around the Horn. Well,
anybody missed that show? I'll lead off with you, Terry.
Did you ever watch it?
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (24:21):
What do you think of it?
Speaker 2 (24:24):
I don't know. It is a great show for one liners.
I mean, it's an entertainment that way. Was it a
fact based show? I mean the people that were on
there were very knowledge but I think there was more
to let it. To me, it always came across as
a comedy show as opposed to and maybe I had
(24:46):
the wrong take. I don't know, but it was a
comic relief impaired or you know, in the middle of
sometimes very dense shows that you know, sport dance show.
So it was kind of a an easy on your
brain type show.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
I guess enough, Candy, I don't know if you ever
watched it. Did you ever watch it once in a while?
Very rarely?
Speaker 4 (25:08):
I mean I can say though that it did have
a run, and its run was for two more than
two decades. That says a lot in today's sports arena.
And media and stuff like that. To last that long,
it had must have had some good qualities in it.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Well. Max Kellerman was the original host and then Tony
Radley took over. So well, I'll leave it there, Willy.
You're thoughts on part around the Horn.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
Yeah, I watched it every now and then. Usually that
show would be on when I was on my way
home from work, so I would I didn't really get
a chance to really check it out consistently until, of
course the pandemic hit. I thought they I thought they
were the regular guests that were there.
Speaker 6 (25:57):
I think they had great chemistry.
Speaker 5 (26:00):
But like Harry said, it seemed like a show that
was It seemed like almost like a game show to me.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Okay, all right, what about you, Jacob.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
It's fine. I remember the day of the Marriotti and
everybody hates j Marriotti. I mean it's it's I mean,
people did it and they all root for him to lose.
But winning and losing on theirs kind of like, uh,
you know, whose lines a way and professionally the points
don't matter. You know, people got their thing, and it's
just it was kind of a joke. But I mean
(26:33):
it had dear, how many like three four thousand episodes. Whatever,
you know what I mean, it had its time. I
mean whatever, the thing was good for them. It's like
you almost want to you almost want to get rid
of you almost want to let it go on a round.
Number but it had its time.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
Yeah. Here, I'll give you my take. I probably have
the strongest take of any of it. Number One, I
know Bob Ryan is a good friend of mine, and
I had Jay Crawford on and I talked to them,
and here's what I ended up getting to me. Okay,
around the horn remind me of Highlight. It's fake, you
know why, because all these things were predetermined ahead of time,
and even some of the people told me the day
(27:11):
had to get out early. So they say some stupid
stuff get voted off the show and bubble. That's what
I think of it to me, pardon the interruption. It's
the best show on that way. And above got Tony
Korneiser and Mike Wilburn, all of whom I both met
them too, great quality journalist. I'll never forget when we
had our Hamlin situation and you had Tony Korneiser and
(27:36):
Mike Wilban were the only ones that knew about Chuck
Hughes's death. So as far as I'm concerned, as far
as around the Horn good Riddence, I couldn't stand it.
It was fake like highlight and that is my take
on it. And again I knew a lot of people
on there. Now I'll say the only thing I liked
about it was they did have a lot of qualities.
Who sportswriters from around the country. Nobody's going to downplay
(27:57):
what woody pages like Tim Kellashaw. These are good strong journalists.
Jackie much Mullins a number one, Bob Ryan and the
list goes on and on. Well, is there something you
want to add to that? No, no, no, no, no, Okay,
all right, let's continue on and that's this. Okay. The
Paris Olympics obviously was a big success, and he's brought
(28:18):
in more advertisers than the twenty sixteen reel and the
twenty twenty Games. NBC gets that, okay, makes a three
billion dollar deal to lock up the Olympics of twenty
thirty six. Wow, I mean you talk about NBC is
putting an investment into the Olympics. Judged by those deals, Willie,
what are your thoughts about the deal that NBC made.
Speaker 5 (28:42):
Yeah, NBC has the corner, the market corner when it
comes to covering the Olympics. I mean, yeah, they're the best.
And there's the reason why they're getting They're getting three
billion dollars pumped into whatever it is that they do.
Speaker 6 (28:57):
I'm a firm.
Speaker 5 (28:58):
Believer that if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and
even if it's slightly cracked, just put a little glue
on it.
Speaker 6 (29:06):
It'll be okay.
Speaker 5 (29:07):
And uh, NBC obviously has has the uh everything that's
that they need in order to make this thing go.
And yeah, for them to be able to garner that
type of a deal, hey manos to them.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Really, like you said, that's one sport they haven't. They
know how to cover major events for the right commentators. Viacob,
you're talking about what NBC probomb care.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
You know why NBC is the best at the Olympics,
Will he and everybody else is going to say, you
know why it's the best is because you get by itself.
And I'm just saying this, if you do CBS, you
didn't a paramount plus, which only way that you can
get sports on that thing whatsoever, is if you pay
extra for it. Which is an absolute pain of the butt.
ABC if you're doing something like that. I remember that
(29:52):
was the time. That was the one where they used
to have wide world of sports. All they got they
got is ESPN and you don't want to deal with
ESPN with all of the layers. For the Olympics. NBC
has Peacock. NBC has about four or five different like
as far as you've got to remember, you got to
have all of those the streaming things spread around to
be able to get them. They have all of them.
(30:15):
NBC does so they can be able to get onto
the Olympic. It's not just NBC anymore as far as
the thing, it's all streaming networks. That's where the thing goes.
ESPN streaming network is still not perfect, and everything else
that I talked about is paid behind a payable. The
only thing you do on an NBC thing is the
peacock once a month. You can for everything you get,
(30:36):
you pay for it. You get the Olympics. So they
have that option, they have that strength. So that's where
that is whatsoever, And once they get this deal done,
they're going to as as long as ESPN and I
mean the ABC and Paramount plus CBS continue the way
they are, NBC is going to dominate for years.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
I don't know if they should be hashagging Chris Kirk,
but rash and guys, if you're listening, says he should
also sell his rights to recordings for billions. Okay, well,
add a little light to a Josh and the guys
if they're listening to that. He got another Chris Spurk person.
None of us are aware of this individual, and George
is on targeting out. Brian Williams is great for the Olympics.
He's legendariana there's no doubt about that. Lily is right,
(31:18):
hang off the candy.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
NBC boasted that it had an average of sixty seven
million total viewers per day across its broadcast, cable and
streaming platforms for the twenty twenty four Olympics. Why wouldn't
they push to keep going and keep going? They do
it right, They've done it consistently. Kudos to them. You know,
(31:47):
it seems like each of these major networks have certain
sports that they feature. NBC does the Olympics, and they
do it well. So I'm glad to see them shoring
it up for a while. I don't know that another
network could do it the same or have the same
(32:08):
amount of coverage. I always like when they do the little,
you know, interesting stories about going in depth about the
person and you know, not just the sport and showing
the sport, but they go back and they tell you
a little bit behind the scenes of how they got
to where they are. And I enjoy those those little
tidbits and those little interviews and stuff like that. So
(32:29):
I think NBC does it right. So I'm I'm glad
that they're going to do it through twenty thirty six.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
Yeah, and in the future episode what we're going to do,
I can't say, what's one, Willie. I'll keep everybody posted.
We're going to be talking about to do NBA partners
as well. That's something that's inevitable that we'll talk about
in a couple of weeks. So I want to bring
that up and I want to make sure we address
these things. For Kerry, your talks about NBC ponying up
for the Olympics, Well, is.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
It the Olympics without Bob Costas.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Right, Yeah, good point stuff.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
So if you don't have Bob Costas, you can't do
the Olympics. So he's old now, so am I. But
but my entire Olympics, my entire life watching the Olympics.
Bob Costas was the Olympics. So I just you know,
I mean, that's the one thing I can tell you
that I think about it, and I'm a candy there.
(33:25):
They find a way to get the tear jerkers in
there to capture and and bring a little bit more
than just watching competitive competition on the screen, but putting
the person, making it a person on the screen, not
a number or a just an athlete, but give them
a give them depth.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
So well, maybe I'll have to find a petition to
get Bob Tasa through baseball when it's out end in La.
Right there you go, you know you love baseball? Anyway
is really good at baseball. I'm happy for NBC. Now
I'm also happy I get to put in my non
sports topics. That's one of the interesting segments in the show.
And we're gonna go to a nation break and we're
(34:03):
gonna give to my talent. Well he's gonna be talking
basketball on his own and baseball, which I have a
filling party. Shots are gonna be with mister MTA anyway,
that's okay. He want in baseball. He'll have an opportunity
in the next fifteen twenty minutes, I'll talk about what
you want. Not smart topic for the night. Japan toll
system get this crash for thirty eight hours, officials let
cars pass freely and ass drivers to pay later online.
(34:27):
Guess what twenty four thousand people did. What about that?
The honor system? Maybe? What do you think anybody have
any comments on Japan's pool system. That's Japan.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
That's Japan. That's like they pick up their own trash
after they picked the gate on the street. The street
is absolutely iffectably clean. And it's the people that do it,
not just as not just janitors. They have a complete
honor code over there, complete all that. I mean, every
thing they're training for martial arts is second to none.
And then they have them what they call young boy
(35:00):
to do all the cleanup on the mats afterwards and everything.
It's like everything is meant for honor, Everything is meant
for a better life for everybody. It's a different world
in the United States.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Don't worry. If you like this nonpourth topic, you're gonna
like the next one too. But what are you saying? Well,
he plenty four thousand people pulling up. Not go bad.
Anybody have any quick thoughts before you go on my
second non fort topic, or everybody clean on this one.
Everybody good to go.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
Just not surprise in Japan. People that happened in Japan
and people were paid on the owners system. Just that
fits the culture.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
Oh good, I have an even better one now. In Japan,
students do not take formal exams until they are ten
years old. The first three years focused on character building
and good manners, with teachers prioritizing values over academics. I
had to pair these up to you up or your
thoughts Kerry, you like that, No, you have to tell
you are at least ten years old. I hated them
(36:00):
even when I was plumbing my teacher.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
So I have a little bit of Yes, I think
that it's okay to test a product off an assembly line,
but education is not an assembly line. Although I will
put it tell you and I and so I'm going
to excuse myself preemptively on this because it has been
a while since I've looked. But Japan tests that first
(36:25):
test they take changes the academic path. However, you you
write out on those those first that first series of testing.
They do that change. It takes you on a path,
so they don't teach everybody the same thing in a
all encompassing classroom. One path is those that will be
(36:50):
the backbone the working industries, and that the other one
is going to go for the academia and things like that.
So they have two paths where you know, and most
other cultures, we educate everyone the same and it's all
(37:10):
inclusive and the same tracked.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
And she's right on that. I've been a tutor, a mentor.
I just coached basketball for the kids. I've done it
twice now on that I just finished my coaching and
thing on that they do that. The reason that they're
able to get away with that in Japan is because
the parents are exceptionally educated. Yeah, and there you go.
I want to make sure she saw that, but yeah,
(37:38):
but it's like the parents are so educated over there,
and they will be teaching the kids themselves anyway, so
it is better that they learn the character things from
school and do all that stuff. And if they're passing
those tests at the ten year old level, they already
been taught well at home. And I wish that America
did that kind of stuff with it in the first place,
no one is I've been. I can only think I've
(37:58):
not taught is in a classroob on everything else and
knowing and I've done some kind of one on one
or with people or anything like that. I absolutely wish
that they would do something like that in the United States.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
Right, So that's funny topics are in there because I'm
here to educate any different way than I can, and
these two just seem to fit tonight, Candy, your family
obviously teaching. What are your talks about the Japan's methods.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
Yeah, I come from a long history of teachers. For
those of you that don't know it, my sister is
a teacher. I have a sister that's an academic advisor
at a college. My dad was a teacher. He started
out in middle school, ended up in high school. But
it even goes back further than that. My grandma actually
taught in a one school in the old old days,
(38:46):
in one of those one room school rooms where you
taught multiple levels. So I come through for a lot
of history of teachers. Character is something I don't know
that you necessarily can teach each I do agree with
not testing at a young age because I think that
(39:08):
sometimes puts too much pressure on kids. But I also
feel that different kids learn at different intervals and at
different rates. Some kids it takes longer, some kids.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Pick up things.
Speaker 4 (39:25):
Some kids have more common sense, some people are more BookSmart.
So whether you can do that at starting at ten,
at the age of ten and find out where their
level is and how they learn, I think that's one
of the most important things, is how do we get
through to some of the kids and how do we
(39:46):
teach them on their level and not just put them
in a big group and say, Okay, everybody's got to
learn at the same rate, at the same pace. And
I get that because I get you only have so
many teachers teach these kids and stuff like that. But
it's not easy teaching, you know. My I've had conversations
(40:06):
with my sister. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee, not down
here in Miami where you'd have a lot of but
she actually has and I would say, in her class, off,
let's say she has twenty kids, fifteen fourteen of them
speak English, but the other six don't even speak English.
(40:28):
Now she only speaks English, so for her to try
and relate and teach these kids it's very different and
very hard, and so somehow we've got to figure out
a way to teach everybody. But I do agree that
testing before the age of ten isn't necessarily what we
(40:49):
should be doing.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
Yeah, I think a lot of us are, and now
it's on that aren'tly as we move on?
Speaker 2 (40:55):
For the most parts, I had seven languages and taught
are seven conversation languages that were in my class classroom
of thirty two children in fifth grade.
Speaker 5 (41:08):
Pretty cool, Yeah, go ahead, Well yeah, my wife is
a thirty three year vet in the education field.
Speaker 6 (41:17):
Carrie. Thank you for doing what you do, because it
is a thankless.
Speaker 5 (41:21):
Job for education in the United States or for academia
in the United States on the level that we're discussing.
As soon as it becomes more about education rather than
finance and politics, that we might be able to have
some sort of good standing in the world like we
(41:42):
once did.
Speaker 3 (41:43):
Hey, Willie, can I say I'm going to give a
partial answer to you of what you're saying. With something
like that, here's what I would love all over as
far as education. With it, I would want every single
kid in every school in the United States to learn
how finances work. Every single one. And I'm talking about microeconomics.
(42:09):
Macroeconomics keep going up, and I would do every single
thing on something like this, because the greed comes when
the few have the knowledge, When everybody has a shot
and they all and they all have a proper diet,
and they all have a shot at the education, they
have all that kind of deal like that everybody had.
We have more of a competition than we have, less
(42:31):
of what we see, but we When when you have
the greed is when you have the few. It's like
I wanted to say what you were saying. I wasn't
saying you were wrong. I would say, a few people
know how money really works. How about teach the world
about money?
Speaker 6 (42:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (42:47):
Well, the only the only pushback to that, though, is
that you start scaring the quote unquote elites for for
for whoever, or for whatever reason they believe as though
just because I might be getting it, that's gonna take
away from them.
Speaker 3 (43:06):
Oh okay, good. This is the thing about this, It's
not true. There will still be plenty of rich people
in the world. That's not true whatsoever I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
Good.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
It's like I'm stubborn like that. It's like I because
this is my theory. And the way I say this
is this, if we teach you and give you every
tool and you're still not getting there, or you're still
struggling with money, then that's your not you, I'm just saying.
But I'm saying that's their fault. The people on it,
that's their fault because we gave that to you. But
(43:38):
when there's not the education and there's the few of that,
I don't care about the elites, I'm going to say,
because there will still be wealthy people and plenty of them,
even when we do the teaching. They're just they're playing
that whole fear. But just like every politician does on
both sides, they play the fear factor and they play
all that. I'm stubborn enough. I want to see everybody.
We're gonna see. Let's play a world where we see
(44:01):
everybody having that knowledge and we'll see who comes out.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
All right. For those of you that are watching, any
praint or some good comment something to just repeat them
real quick. That's the first. Teachers, emergency workers, and military
are severely severely underpaid and overworked, no question about that.
The one above its say some kids learned better from
visual learning I'll tell you I learned better a lot
of times visually, whether you're a kid or not. And
then of course he talks about FS. One speak was
(44:25):
the only one, and that was the one entailed march letters,
any prayer every time he puts a comment on. All right, Katie,
we're gonna go to a station break real quick to
make sure that Kerry gets an opportunity to talk about
her town and some party shots, and we're going to
continue to move the show along. Everybody. I've enjoyed your takes,
especially on this not sports topic, because but talking about
the honor system and teaching, those are very important things
(44:49):
that the society could use a lot more of. And
that's why I wanted to bring him in this show,
because I had a pretty well rounded group here tonight.
So go ahead, Canty, quit station break, and then we'll
continue this thing along self.
Speaker 4 (45:01):

Thank you, Scott, all right, thanks sorry. These two topics
of a signal carry on so that we could get
her out on schedule. Okay, first of all, do you
what's going on in your town? We have a mincown segment.
Anything that stands out that you want to talk about
in your town, Kerrie.
Speaker 2 (46:35):
You know, we're a typical rural area with access to
you know, a metropolitan type. I say metropolitan, but after
being on the East Coast a lot the last two years,
Springfield is not what I would call a metropolitan But
here we are.
Speaker 1 (46:57):
Anything sports related if you want to get out Okay.
Speaker 2 (47:02):
No, I mean hometown heroes is always. You know, everybody's
got their hometown heroes, and there's been a bunch coming
through recently. And there's a couple of very talented young
men that play baseball that I would love to see there.
I mean two of them are just going to be juniors,
I believe, and they are playing on national teams and
(47:28):
national traveling teams. So I would hope that someday that
those names, those names get to make it even to
the big stage.
Speaker 1 (47:36):
Okay. Secondly, give any party shots about what you want
to talk about sports and bothers yet me, no, she
does ol Terry? All right, Well then, here's what we'll
do before we let you go. I want to let
everybody know how they get a hold of you and
all the things that you're involved in. Kerry, I want
to thank you very much for joining us on this.
On today's edition of Sports and Change, you talked about
some really interesting topics and I hope you enjoyed your
(47:58):
experience on sports.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
It was very I very much enjoyed it. I'm part
of Three Chicks, Chicks and Salsa. We have a Facebook page,
we have Twitter account, we have excuse me, we have
the X account. You can find it on Facebook. I'm
never listen Willie my son, my poor poor child. I
(48:22):
didn't have Twitter. I joined every social platform. I didn't
have Twitter when he did, so I was tweeting out
the window and he would lock his car windows so
I couldn't roll them down so I couldn't tweet. It
will always bead Twitter to me. I'm Carrie Johnson. Fine me.
You can send me a friend request, you can follow
(48:42):
me whatever, send me a message. We loved. I love
to talk about football. I'd love to be down and
dirty and I love to talk about what's your viewpoints?
So football and Chiefs are my favorite, so peace out.
Thank you for the invite, gentlemen.
Speaker 1 (48:59):
All, thanks Harry for Ben and I'm glad that you're
a great teammate with Candy and Meghan and Jennifer, you
all your young ladies do without standings out and we're
glad that you're part of our extended family. Carry Thank
you very much.
Speaker 2 (49:10):
Well, thank you very much. You all have a great evening.
Thanks for bringing me on.
Speaker 1 (49:15):
You're very welcome. Thank you all. Right, now there's four
of us. Now we know what we're talking about. Well,
what's going on in your town?
Speaker 6 (49:26):
What is going on in my town?
Speaker 1 (49:29):
Right?
Speaker 6 (49:30):
I don't know, man, you don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 5 (49:34):
No, seriously, not necessarily in Dallas, but in my town
of Fate, Texas, which is about forty minutes northeast of
the city. I have resumed my football coaching career with
the youth. There's a team here that uh willie the youth.
(50:01):
There's a team here that is in there first, it's
going to be in their first season. One of the
founders or the like the I guess the coordinator of
the franchise lives in my neighborhood.
Speaker 6 (50:14):
He had put something out on Facebook.
Speaker 5 (50:15):
I said Yo, do y'all need any volunteers and he
said yeah. I said, well, I coached Pop Warner football
in oak Cliffe, Dallas for I don't know seven years.
My old seventeen went undefeated and we lost in the
championship game, and I would love to be a part
of it. I'll fill out any forms that are necessary.
And he said, yeah, come on out, we need you.
(50:36):
So I went out there on Monday, and I'm looking
forward to getting back into that space.
Speaker 1 (50:42):
Beautiful. I like that. Take out what's going on in
York Town. Let me do it.
Speaker 3 (50:47):
I've been on this my third show, so you in mind,
I can do all that carries you.
Speaker 1 (50:51):
Know, Yeah, you're the record fire.
Speaker 3 (50:54):
I'm gonna bring this here. As I said, Mike Town
was Atlanta and got at the All Star Game. I
went to the All Star Weekend, went to the All
Star Weekend, the festivities. I was in the little batting cage,
got the dude and get some little hits out of
the softball machine, that kind of deal, which is kind
of funny because I saw a lot of people swinging
and missing and the athletes are not there in the
(51:15):
fans but the thing. But it was a fun little
deal and it was a fun little situation. And I
went to the All Star I went to the Home
Run X thing, which we stayed for one part. It
was all the old timers from different teams and stuff.
I go Ryan Zimmerman and it was let's see, I'm
(51:36):
telling you think Ryan Klasco. Ryan Klesk is like fifty four.
So he swings like seventy one year old arn Old
Palmer with the golf club. But he still has power.
He still has power. He just has no hips left.
But it's it's kind of fun. And then they showed
the softball girls then they everything like that and yeah,
and then they and then if you ever see Home
Run Derby X, they moved. They move up about thirty feet,
(51:58):
so it's like it's less it's less power to take
the home run, but it's for it's for the older
people and everything. They're not gonna they wouldn't have a
May Homer as they were in the same spot. You
just don't have the same strength anymore. So there was that.
Speaker 1 (52:11):
But so so with that said, you have an opportunity
to combine your party shot. Yeah, it's all.
Speaker 3 (52:18):
Gonna be the party shot tonight. And William A. Great conversation.
We had a great conversation about the whole thing with
f F S one and all that kind of stuff.
Someone to bring this. I was having a good conversation
with a buddy in my night about WWE. We just
had it by the day and this is gonna have
we have something to do with the F S one thing.
And then I'm bringing this here during the summer of
(52:41):
twenty twenty, remember the Summer of love, all that stuff
we had. We already know the whole thing. I'm not
gonna bring the politics part up everything. WWE all of
a sudden, after all the years pushed a lot of
the black athletes to the championships, you know, you know
the whole thing, how the thing works, with with the script,
with everything, with with how they do all that. But
(53:04):
they pushed them all to their little titles, to everything,
and then when the everything quieted down, they squashed them out,
squashed them out, went right back to the status quo.
And the thing I think about when him comes to
(53:24):
FS one, you do everything like this is I think
this happens with media. I think it happens with entertainment.
I think it happens with sports. I think it happens
with everything. I think it's disgusting. I think it's phony.
I think it's phony, and I think it's everything when
you're if you're that good, Joey Taylor I brought up
(53:44):
she's gonna be huge with podcasting. She had a couple
of spots to media. You should be huge with podcasting.
If you're that good, it should be no doubt that
you make it. I'm talking about in whatever you do
and whatever you do. It's like, and I'm brought up
wrestling tonight. If you're that good and that athletic and
that everything, it should be no doubt. One wrestler really
(54:08):
made a couple of them. Here's the Rock, we knew him,
but guess what he is, Samoan. We're just saying, I'm
not gonna count on a thing. And then there was
a guy and you might know the name Willie Booker T,
but he was just that damn good and it's like
you the thing is what I meant by that, though,
(54:28):
is a lot of the black athletes there has to
be like Booker T. Let there be no doubt there is.
It is kind of like Dusty Baker, Let there be
no doubt. He's always if he wanted to get out
of if you wanted to get out of retirement tomorrow,
he'd get any job you want. Let there be no
doubt the black population. And I'm not doing this for
any pandra. I'm just saying that the truth. To be
(54:50):
able to get the jobs, there has to be a
Let there be no doubt. I put that as a hashtag.
Let them do. They have to have a Let there
be no doubt that they're gonna get themselves high and
get themselves pushed and get themselves to be a star.
Where it's that thing. I think that's wrong in the case,
there are so many good ones out there. Golf had it.
(55:12):
Golf had a guy named Lee Elder during Jack Nicholas's
time twelve titles, and he had to deal with them
when he would hit a ball out of the balls,
they throw it out of bounce and then they would
have to have someone beoble to prove it so he
wouldn't get a penalty. We're human beings in the end.
(55:33):
We're human beings in the end. We need to stop
this phoniness. I don't like saying this, but I'm saying
it as a truth. Get if you want the star
people around. Just put them on the best, the very best,
black white everything. If you're gonna put all the if
(55:55):
you're gonna put an all black the deal, then do it.
If you're gonna put an all white deal, do it.
But quit being phony. The world is phony. And that's
what I don't like. And that's my Pundit's pundit for
the thing. It's phony. The world's phony. It's like, we
don't need that. We need to start treating the world.
(56:15):
And I mean, that's how we're gonna get the conversation
running is we're gonna quit being phony with the whole thing.
Oh I have a black friend. That's what the equivalent this.
Speaker 1 (56:27):
Is, right now, Okay, great stuff, take.
Speaker 3 (56:33):
Them, no problem. And I got to get myself going
because I've gone to That's okay.
Speaker 1 (56:36):
Well, we'll be in talk tomorrow. So meanwhile, Candy and
I and Willie will take the show home.
Speaker 3 (56:40):
Thanks will it's good to see you again.
Speaker 6 (56:43):
Take care of my friend, you bad Take care all right.
Speaker 1 (56:46):
So here's what we're gonna do. Candy, give us what's
going on in your town. I'll do it, and then
we're gonna talk about partying shots and then we're gonna
let Willie and I and you Candy and the show
on the basketball stoff because I need the basketball stop
is good, which is why I really wanted to carry
it over with you. There's a topics are that strong? Okay,
So Katie, what's going on and your town or whatever?
Speaker 4 (57:09):
So let's face it right now, there's there's not a
ton happening the NBA. The Milwaukee Bucks are trying to
figure out who's going to be on their team, who's
not going to be on their team. They made one
of the boldest moves I think ever in the NBA,
letting Damian Lillard go and letting such a big contract go.
What I want to revisit, though, is the City of
(57:30):
green Bay came out now with the results, and when
I say the results, the results for the twenty twenty
five NFL Draft, I want to revisit that the economic
impact that the actual draft had on the county, not
just the town of Green Bay, but the county seventy
(57:52):
nine point nine million dollar economic impact. They said three
hundred and sixty two five hundred and sixty five hundred
and eighty eight unique visitors experienced our amazing city. Eighty
two percent rated Green Bay as an excellent host city.
(58:12):
Total attendance over the three days was over six hundred
thousand people. They're saying that it generated one hundred and
four million dollars statewide in economic activity. So kudos to
the towns that will never get a Super Bowl. And
it won't because it's not its outdoors, it's cold, but
(58:37):
this shows you that some of the smaller market towns
or the towns that will never get Super Bowls, what
kind of impact putting the draft and moving it around
to these towns will have for those towns. So kudos
to the NFL for doing that.
Speaker 1 (58:54):
I can't get. I mean, let me have your party shot.
WELLI will have his, and then I'll I'm in on
the two and then we're gonna Billy and I and
you will take it home with his basketball. Go ahead,
we have party shot.
Speaker 4 (59:05):
My parting shot was kudos to the three Brewers that
were in the All Star Game last night, not only
for their performance, but Trevor McGill and Freddy Peralta both
honored the late Bob Yucker and I thought they did
it both in unique ways that was really cool. So yes,
(59:29):
Freddy Peralta, when they stood up and they right on
the camp the cards I stand up for on Freddie
Peralta put Bob Uker because you know, Bob Youker died
January sixth. January sixteenth after a two year battle with
small cell lung cancer. Trevor McGill actually on the inside
(59:52):
of his jacket he had a little patch and it
had it said it had Bob Youker's most famous line
from Major League Movie just a bit outside and it
had his signature on it, and that was inscribed in
(01:00:13):
the jacket that he wore to the game. And I
just thought those were both different tributes and just a
unique way to honor the lake.
Speaker 1 (01:00:21):
Bob Youker, very good, Katy, all right, well let me
have your party shot place.
Speaker 5 (01:00:27):
Yeah, I can dig that candy, and Bob Youker definitely
was that guy that was certainly a little eccentric. My
party shot does have to do with baseball, because I
think there were seventy two million. No, I don't think
it was that many, but let's just say it was
(01:00:47):
a lot of people that watched the game last night, right,
And even though those numbers were down from last year.
I love the evolution that baseball is, at least attempting
to do. I thought the challenging of the balls and
strikes with the automatic strike zone, I thought that was fantastic.
I look forward to them actually implementing that in the future.
(01:01:10):
But for Kyle Schwarber and Brent Rooker and the rest
of those guys, and that that swing off the end
the game, I thought it was marvelous. And yeah, even
though the score said six', six The National league actually
was able to finally get a. Win they're only the
second win in the last what twelve TRIES i want to, Say, so,
(01:01:32):
yeah that was. That that was huge and THOUGHT i
Thought baseball did a good job puting that whole thing.
Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
Together, WELL i think they actually changed it to seven
to six AS i read later of that that's what
these score is going to. BE i don't know if they.
Did that's the right little all, Right i'll give you
a couple of.
Speaker 4 (01:01:46):
Mind scott CAN i quick comment On Willie's. Yeah, so
the twenty twenty FIVE Mlb All Star, game held In,
atlanta drew seven point two million, viewers making it the
most Watched All star event cross all. Sports the game's
viewership peaked at eight point one million viewers during the
nine fifteen to nine thirty eastern quarter a half.
Speaker 6 (01:02:08):
Hour, okay there you.
Speaker 1 (01:02:11):
Go well, SCORE i think it's seven and. SIX i haven't.
Looked i'll have to see WHEN i look at it.
Later all, RIGHT a couple of my, way my town
takes you To. Tallahassee this, Week Florida state Hired Luke,
laus who's only thirty four years of, age Replaced Leonard.
Hamilton he spent eight to nine season as A nba
assistant five With seeker At Golden State. Warriors i'd like
(01:02:31):
to hire to bring in the younger guy you, Have, Hi.
LUCAS i believe In, miami so they're getting younger at
major collegence at number. One, secondly my party. Shot we
need more stories like. This, okay see. Thundered Jalen williams
is retiring his parents after signing a two hundred and
eighty seven million dollar. Extension both of his parents served
(01:02:55):
in The Air. Force we need more stories like. This
i'm tired of all the. Negativity we saw a lot
of them on tonight's, show with consistency with the way
That japanese are getting it right in key places and
Now Jalen, williams kudos to this. Guy it really is
And i'm happy For Luke. Love now let's go To. Lilly,
(01:03:16):
okay we're going to talk a little bit of. BASKETBALL
i carry these topics over BECAUSE i thought they were that,
good And willy is my most sound basketball guy THAT
i have on, staff SO i value his. Opinion we're
going to start this, Way. Willie before we, left The
bus family entered an agreement to southern majority of the
ownership To Mark, walter THE ceo and chairman Of Diversified
(01:03:36):
Holding Diversified Holding company TM Wg global for ten billion.
Dollars Very bus purchased at The lakers for sixty seven
point five billion and nineteen Seventy, now what are your
thoughts about that, purchase Will.
Speaker 6 (01:03:54):
That's a pretty good that's a pretty good return on your. Investment.
Speaker 5 (01:03:57):
Yeah ip to the very, great late great Doctor Jerry,
Buss Jenny Jena bus Or Genie bus brother had done
a fantastic job with keeping the thing. GOING i know
she has some issues with one of her. BROTHERS i
can't remember which one of which one it, Was, uh
the one that took over the team and just ran
(01:04:18):
the team into the. Ground there was all that period
of time where The lakers didn't even slip the. Playoffs
Incomes genie and she turns things, around makes some make
some great draft, choices get some good free agents in,
there and The lakers actually have won the championship in
the last five years after not having won Since shaq
And kobe were, there or since Since kobe and And Pal,
(01:04:40):
gasol the late Great Kobe. Bryant, so, uh, look if
you're going to if you want to learn how to
get a huge return on your, INVESTMENTS i will suggest
you Follow genie bus on all social media.
Speaker 6 (01:04:55):
Platforms and she looks fantastic. Too by the, Way, yahoo she's.
Speaker 1 (01:05:01):
Adorable i'll say one. Thing Phil jackson had great, takes
just couldn't close the. Deal we'll leave it at.
Speaker 6 (01:05:07):
That, yeah well he's excentric.
Speaker 1 (01:05:10):
Too, yeah, Okay WELL i was trying to be nice about.
It eddie prays they're a good. Update now we don't
have to mention on a. Future So Bradley beal goes
to THE La. Clippers there you, goes there's your news
item of the. Day we're talking, basketball and once Again
eddie praiser with a timely take piece of. Information great,
stuff and he keep it. Going two more and want
to get To. Ron harper obviously blast today's players for being.
(01:05:33):
Selfish it's all about what they, Do it's not about
what the team. Does harper has an issue with today's
players not knowing the history of the. Game do you
agree or disagree with that?
Speaker 6 (01:05:43):
One, uh that's kind of a that's kind of a
broad brush to.
Speaker 5 (01:05:51):
PAINT i wouldn't say that all of them are like,
that BUT i will say that this is a Different
this is definitely a different.
Speaker 6 (01:05:59):
Time And i'll tell you this about HOW i just
have this huge disdain for the current state of.
Speaker 5 (01:06:06):
Basketball, OKAY i remember a time when there were no
super teams other than people drafting people and making an occasional.
Speaker 6 (01:06:18):
Trade that's the offices and.
Speaker 5 (01:06:22):
The ownership groups controlled who actually became or who came
onto a particular.
Speaker 6 (01:06:27):
Roster this is the, Reason, scooter this is.
Speaker 5 (01:06:32):
The, Reason candy and everybody in the chat WHY i
Say Lebron james will never be the.
Speaker 6 (01:06:42):
Goat it is.
Speaker 5 (01:06:44):
A foregone conclusion and it should never even be mentioned.
Speaker 6 (01:06:47):
Again it will never.
Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
HAPPEN i agree with. YOU i don't See Lebron james
have ever been a coat. EITHER i have my reasons for.
It and we'll bring up as a topic when we
have more. Time they'll talk About candy just mentioned a new.
Item eight Time Pro bowl pass Rusher Von miller okay
now twenty day On instagram that he's going to launch
The commanders then and then of course any prayers is
(01:07:11):
like The lakers in the late seventies and eighty degree.
More they were a complete team then as well so
last batter Both top Of Other, Night Willie Indiana patris
assistant Coach Jenny buseecres is only one of fifteen women
coaching on AN nba. Team she coached in THE Nba
finals and obviously raised her daughter as a single. MOM
i applause a, woman what do you think about chat.
Speaker 5 (01:07:34):
Man if she's listening or watching or what have. YOU
i would love to get her on our celebration of
women's history shows series of shows that we do Every.
March this cannot be highlighted. Enough and it goes back
to what we were saying earlier about the ladies being more than.
Qualified then a lot of the men in what they,
(01:07:58):
do and we have to make sure that we keep
the spotlight on the ones that are doing it the right.
Speaker 6 (01:08:04):
Way and you, Know.
Speaker 5 (01:08:06):
The definition of integrity is doing the right thing when
nobody is, watching and you don't get to the heights
that these people get to by doing things in a shortcut.
Speaker 6 (01:08:19):
Matter manner or, yeah i'll have to. Sing you know.
Speaker 5 (01:08:23):
What you better be careful when you are trying to
get to the, top because if you're doing it the wrong,
way the same person that you stepped on getting to
the top is going to be the same person you
pass going back, down and she obviously is doing it
the right.
Speaker 1 (01:08:35):
WAY i would, Do, willie IF i were, you orf
you're that interested in having her a, guess here's WHAT
i would. DO i would contact the, pacers let them
know about your media group and, level know the amount
of followers and the reach that you, have and if
you find the right communication. PERSON i don't see the
reason why they wouldn't get this woman under your show
and show her how show them how committed that you
are to talking about. Them i've dealt WITH pr people,
(01:08:57):
before and a lot of them are generally pretty. Good
so the first THING i would do IF i were,
you when you get up the next day or so
is go on The Indiana Pacers indiana pacers Dot com
find out who the top communications, are send them on
sincere email and the strength of your, platform which we
know is awfully. GOOD i mean Your twitter accounts are.
(01:09:18):
Strong we know how good you are On LinkedIn And.
Facebook they, say, hey you, KNOW i agree you. Know
and then what you might want to do, though is
this refer to WHAT i talked about With Jenny boost
on this show that prompted you to give the idea
that you want to pursue it a little. Further those
pr people are always welcoming this type of good, publicity
(01:09:39):
AND i don't think there's any better way than to
have her on your platform Because i've been on your
platform before and it is unbelievable the amount of work
that you and your wife put into. IT i mean
you do a first CLASS i, mean as a, Friend willie, okay,
BRO i would do. THIS i think you would really
hit a home run with this particular. Topic but go
(01:10:00):
to the pacers and send them a, good well written
email and say you're how strong your platform. Is you
got win on a show that you are a guest
on that carried this topic, over that was on two
shows last week and then this, one AND i held
it over BECAUSE i wanted you to talk about, it
so it got attention twice last week and then this,
(01:10:21):
week and keep me posted as what kind of Responsib
if you need my help in any way to help
you secure the, interview you know how to get hold,
me text me any way you, want And i'll do
EVERYTHING i can to help you get on give you
guidance to do. It but The pacers have always been
class the. Organization i've been there a couple of times
many years. AGO i think a pair of people has
gone now THAT i dealt. With but generally THE nba
(01:10:43):
is looking for this kind of good publicity And jennifer
Boost that could definitely. Does so, yeah please pursue, It.
WILLIE i think she'd be dynam like for what you
guys are looking to. Do and you have the followers
and everything you need to go out there and write
the letter AND i can help. You i'd love to do.
Speaker 6 (01:10:57):
So all, right, MAN i appreciate, That thank you so very.
Speaker 1 (01:11:00):
Much, oh no. PROBLEM i appreciate you being on Every wednesday.
Night so with that, said as to get ready to
wrap up the, show we only have one person let
us know how they get a hold of, us and

on this before we go to wrap this. Up i'm
kicking the tires about doing a hockey expansion show with
a guy by the name Of Clifford neil on this
(01:11:20):

that something you would be interested in, participating knowing That
houston is the type of team that might be looking
at get a team out.
Speaker 6 (01:11:31):
THERE i don't know anything about.
Speaker 1 (01:11:33):
Hockey, yeah but you know about, geography don't you about?
Speaker 6 (01:11:37):
Geography?
Speaker 1 (01:11:38):
Yes, okay well then you're. Qualified.
Speaker 5 (01:11:41):
OKAY i would have to make sure that my schedules are.
Aligned as a matter of, FACT i just sent a
text message to my team earlier.
Speaker 6 (01:11:50):
TODAY i just counted that we have.
Speaker 5 (01:11:55):
Ten ten shows at any different given point during the
n during the football.
Speaker 6 (01:12:00):

in a couple of. Weeks you know about, That, Okay
i'll do that right. AWAY i would even dare to
touch it during the football season with this. One this
is the type of the year. Period, YEAH i go out,
there take the. Gunslinger pope just mention it to, you
