Speaker 1 (01:22):
We get it.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
We have a good show and I definitely have an.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
I'm sure you do.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
We got George Reiker and I knew he'd be he
would be off the Sports Exchange a long while.

He oh yeah, yeah, good to be back with you guys.

Some skittles the ice cream.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Wait a minute, Yeah you know what I'm talking about.
Don't worry you get George back by the way, Eric
on Monday Night and asked, but not least Rob, and
I have this segment designed for this guy if I
ever saw.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
And thanks for having thanks for having us back on
Scott Listen, real quick best piece in Florida.
Speaker 6 (02:03):
Oh wait, there isn't any.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Let me tell you, guys are I'll tell you what
you guys are a hit last Wednesday and said, you
know what do I do for an encore? And bring
this dynamic New York tool back on? And I'm doing
it tonight. Willie, I think couldn't make it tonight. Unfortunately
his wife is under the weather. So I hope my
prayers uh to Willie and his wife feeling a little
bit better. But meanwhile, I'm fine with the six people
(02:27):
that we have on. Well, the title speaks for herself,
the legacy of Cubs, legend and Hall of fame. Right
Sandberg shuld come to a two year battle with cancer
night at the age of sixty five. What else can
he said? I mean, you know, Ryan Sandberg to me
was a consummate professional, played for the Cubs, unfortunately did
not win a title. But he's outside of Miss Ernie Banks,
(02:50):
He's the closest thing to mister Cubs. So let's start.
I'm going to go right to left on this one, Chris,
what your thoughts about Ryan Sandberg?
Speaker 7 (02:58):
Oh, you know, fought this cancer right to the end.
Easily one of the greatest second basements I have ever seen,
Definitely over the last forty to fifty years, one of
the greatest, easily obviously Hall of Famer. It's a shamey
he passed away young age as well. I mean, what
(03:19):
else is there to say right about Ryan Sandberg? Just
a great player, and like I said, he fought this
cancer right right to the end. You know, God bless
him and condolences to his family, k D.
Speaker 8 (03:33):
Condolences to his family. Sixteen year career, ten time All Star,
nine Gold Glove Awards, seven Silver Slugger Awards. I mean,
Chicago Cubs retired as number number twenty three. The thing
(03:53):
that I'll say is that did the Brewers like playing
against him?
Speaker 1 (03:58):
No?
Speaker 8 (03:58):
But They didn't play against him a lot back in
the day because we were in the American League back then.
So but you know, he fought the hard fought. There's
I don't think there's any one of us that haven't
been touched by cancer. And it's unfortunate. I wish there
was a cure for cancer. But prayers to his family
(04:21):
and friends in the whole Cup organization.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Okay, Jacob, and I make sure we get those comments
up the chat, Eric Catch and Eddie Fraser on fire.
These two guys got some really great ones here, and
I am sure other ones will block them later, So
go ahead, Jacob.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Between my.
Speaker 9 (04:41):
London's message tonight, between all this stuff like that, and
between Ryan Sandberg, I've lost my whole generation in like
a week.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Oh you know, my whole eighties. Since it's gone in
a week, all is left as Larry Bird.
Speaker 9 (04:55):
And I don't know if he makes my fiftieth birthday'd
be very honest, that's a few years away. But Ryan Sandberg,
I told I was unconfidential tonight and I said, this
one of my first game, my very first game I
ever watched, how six years old?
Speaker 3 (05:09):
And it was and there was the Cubs and.
Speaker 9 (05:11):
The Astros, and I thought it was ubs and strokes
because I didn't see the sea, you know, so I
didn't see the sea under there. So it's like you're
a six year old, like you say the baby, you know,
the words out of babe, you know. But one of
my first games, one of them, i'd say third or
fourth maybe that I watched on TV was the Sandberg game.
(05:35):
It was the it was Bob Costas calling it. Two
game time home runs against the Cardinals, you know, and
and almost one game time homwork because I can remember
vividly Gary Matthews almost tied, the dang almost won. The
dang thing just went off the wall, you know, did
on the first pitch, So that would then he would
have been the Sandberg game. But then that's what that's
(05:57):
where destiny is. And the main thing about the Sandburg
is a good man but also one of the most
consistent hard workers you ever seen. And I remember when
Joe Morgan used to say, oh, he doesn't never get
his did never get his jersey dirty or his uniform,
and they had to remind him because he was always
a position, I mean, he was always paying attention, always
(06:19):
a position. And I like the one thing I said tonight.
The reason I'm so stiff on like you'll see me
on You'll see me on Facebook. I'm strict with what
I want with the Cubs right now because I remember
those Sandberg years and he had a lot of loaded
people in the line up and they and he made
two playoffs. They didn't even make it in the nineties.
(06:41):
He didn't deserve that. He didn't do it everything, and
the Cubs were cheap. I don't want that again, but
he deserved so much more. But he you cannot blame
for a wonderful career, Hall of Fame career, and I'm
gonna miss it big time.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
You know what, any week a great comment. Ryan Old
and Lou Waker were two of the best second basement
of the question about And I'll just leave it at that,
and I'll save Georgia like Corn from having to say
it because he'll have plenty of Detroit moments. Then I
won't be with that comment. So your thoughts about Rhinos.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
George, Well, again, I'm sort of like in a situation
with Candy and the Brewers. You know, we didn't get
a chance to see him in Detroit obviously very much,
but I always admired him. I admired him and the calmness,
the composure, and also the fact that, like you guys say,
you know, he took his job seriously. He was a perfectionist.
(07:32):
He wanted to make people around him better too, And
I mean, just a terrific career. Ryan Sandberg was, you know,
so so as a manager for the Phillies. But that's okay.
I mean, you know, he tried his best there. But yeah,
I mean it's a sad thing. Any kind of cancer
is bad. We know that the prostrate cancer and that
(07:55):
you know, he thought he was cancer free and then
December of twenty fourth, course he announced that the cancer
was back. So the Cubs have some great players of
all time, but he's certainly up there with so many
of them, Ernie Banks and Don Kessinger and I mean,
just like Billy Williams. Just a great, great guy. And
his statue of course is at at near Urgley Field
(08:17):
there in a park. Just a great guy, Scott, Now,
we're all gonna miss him. Just a terrific ballplayer and
a terrific individual.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Yeah. I never had a chance to meet him at all.
I can't meet everybody. I wish I would have met
him obviously when he's done at really field the Cubs
in that organization. Of course, he had an opportunity to
manage the Philadelphia Phillies, the team for which he started.
I think he only played like under a dozen games
there before he was sent over to Chicago. That we
all know what else he had done there. We didn't
(08:45):
have the benefit of interleague play as we do now
or we would have been able to and I'm glad
that they did bring on interleague play so we can
see all the players. That was a great move.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
J D.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
White and the chat room says, I used to watch
Ryan Samberg as WGN. There you go WGN in the
nineties when I was seven eight years old. That's a
call back to when Rickleyfield didn't even have lights. Great point.
I liked some of these comments in the chat room,
really good points. All right, Rob, you have the last
(09:16):
word on it all. I mean, I'll just say this,
Ryan Samberg, You're definitely gonna be a mess, and we've
lost too many big people last week. It's just a
shame that you're the latest on that recent line of
losses that we've had. Obviously, he had Hull Colgan now
then you had Ryan Samberg, and you wonder.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Who's next Osbourne?
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Yeah him too, Yeah, all right, go ahead, Rob. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (09:37):
Well, in nineteen eighty four he won the MVP, if
you remember. And I saw him play a lot at
Say Stadium in nineteen eighty four against the Mets, because
that's when the Mets and Cubs were really rivals in
the Eastern Division of the National League.
Speaker 6 (09:53):
And I went to a ton of Met.
Speaker 5 (09:55):
Games where he played, and the Mets were battling the
Cubs for first place that year, and the Cubs won,
the Mets ended up six and a half games out.
Speaker 6 (10:05):
And man, did he kill the Mets all the time.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
I mean I used to go there and we would
see him get up and that's it.
Speaker 9 (10:14):
He was great before you had another home run on
you a lot.
Speaker 6 (10:20):
But you know, and I was, you know, I was.
I was young then, and we hated the Cubs, hated
your New York your words.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
You're right, when we came out, we cursed at the doctors,
but instead him spanking up. But listen, he was great
to watch. What a professional, even though you know the Mets.
And when I tell you it was a heated rivalry, rivalry,
it was it was worse than then with the Phillies
(10:54):
and Mets right now, but I had the pleasure to
see the great cub play and you know, condolences to
his family.
Speaker 6 (11:03):
Just a great player and a great man.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
All right, well, there you go, you have it, everybody else,
press some peace. Ryan. We're glad to have you as Joe.
Thanks for subscribing. Maria. If you don't mind, please subscribe
to our channel as well, if you're not already, we
would appreciate it. We have a lot of great opinions
on him. So with that said, let's stay with the
whole Baseball Hall of Fame theme Metro Suzuki, Billy Wegger,
(11:28):
CC Sabathia the latest member unfortunately posthumously Dave Carker and
Dick Allen and Dick Dave Parker's passed away just about
a month before he got in, and his son, I believe,
read a poem. So let's talk about let's evaluate the
Hall of Fame class and it's carry Chris. What are
(11:48):
your thoughts?
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Yeah, I mean it was a great class.
Speaker 7 (11:51):
I mean it's just sad that, you know, Dave Parker
and Dick Allen were not there and obviously starred you,
like you said, you know, just passed away pretty recent.
It's just said that they couldn't be there for it.
It's just it's it's a shame that they waited this
long to vote them in, you know, to get them
in there. But otherwise, yeah, it was it was a
(12:12):
great Uh. It was a great induction ceremony. All had
great interview, great speeches each year. Oh I didn't know
he had that kind of a sense of humor. That
guy had a great speech, Billy Wagner, uh CC, of course.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Great.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
It was just a great.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Day, man.
Speaker 7 (12:29):
Uh love, I love that day. That day and the
the NFL induction ceremony. It's great to hear these guys
finally speak and you know, just kind of give you
their their their history a little bit, you know, how
they got to where they got to, you know, throughout
their career and stuff, and it's it's always great to
hear them in their own words, you know. So but
(12:51):
it was a touching moment to see Dave Park his son,
Dick Allen's widow was there doing his speech.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
So it was really good.
Speaker 7 (12:58):
And it's kind of like it's kind of hearing them
the ones that weren't there it's kind of hearing them
in their words say what.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
They wanted to say.
Speaker 7 (13:08):
You know, day Park had things that he wanted to say,
and Dick Allen as well. So it's really awesome, just
a great day for baseball. The big question is should
it be done during, like say, the All Star breaks
so more people would watch it, because you've got all
these games going on on that day, so it's kind
of hard if you're a fan of any other team
(13:29):
are you tuning in? So I don't know that would
be a debate to check into. But otherwise, great day.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Well, it's interesting how you bring out you know what.
I have an idea now that you brought it up, Chris,
maybe they should do it for the day before that
Sunday or actually that Monday, I think. And although they
don't want to make some math, but you'll get a
lot of people's wheels turning with your obviously with our
audience getting bigger, I have a feeling that could be
subject for debate. All right, Kenny, what's your take on that.
Speaker 8 (14:02):
We talked a little bit about this on The Baseball Show.
I mean CC Sabathia, I remember him, obviously, he came
in and he helped the Brewers for that one last
I mean that one. He was a half of a
year rental, let's face it, but what he did for
the Brewers and how he consistently played, like during the playoffs,
(14:24):
he would play on not much rest back in the day,
and I remember him really coming through for us. Great player,
great pitcher. He's had some struggles outside of baseball, but
good to see him getting in the Hall each ro
What do we say about him? One Probably one of
(14:45):
the best contact hitters you know of all time. I mean,
he just the way he went about it himself. Dave Parker,
It's just sad to see that he wasn't there to,
you know, do the speech and everything like that. But
the fact that his son did it, kudos to him.
(15:06):
It's always good to see guys getting into the Hall
of Fame because that that's the pinnacle of their career.
That tells them that, you know what, we all recognize,
how good you really were, and what an honor. That's
where I'll end there, all.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
Right, Jacob another out of the mouths of Bays moment.
Speaker 9 (15:32):
I remember a couple of the first as the watching
it at six years old, starting a couple of the
first players I remember because I used to watch Don Cricky,
you know, in the mornings. It's like, because we woke up,
we woke up almost criminally early, so you had Don
Creaky in the mornings of sports.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
So I remember those years and everything like that. And
you'd see Dave Henderson and Date Parker and I wondered
if they were brothers. And Dave Parker beat him up,
beat up his little brother.
Speaker 9 (16:00):
You know, when you're a little kid, you think of the
goofiest things. But Dave Parker was a beast of a man.
He was ridiculously big, and I mean just like and
then and then as he got older and he was
getting you know, and and everything like that, he looked
about two sixty or seventy. It was a little different.
He was starting to look like Stargle a little bit
(16:21):
from those times. But he always had that ridiculous arm.
I remember that too. Reason I remember that arm because
Andre Dawson had that arm too, you know, those type
of things. So it was like, and then, you know,
it's just just and I hate this for Dave hender
a Dave Parker, Excuse me, I hate this for Dave
Parker because he was his poem.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
The poem.
Speaker 9 (16:43):
The poem was basically basically a Ricky Henderson from T
Move moment, right.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
You know about it.
Speaker 9 (16:51):
It was basically I'm pretty, I'm so pretty whatever, you know,
and all that kind of deal, and I'm you know,
I was with Pittsburgh.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
I loved you, that kind of deal. And it's like,
I hated this because my pundit.
Speaker 9 (17:04):
Is going to be based off of this, and it's
like I hate to see him at that age being
in such rough shape as he was, because someone like him,
you know, deserved and just like a lot of people,
they deserve to grow gracefully and he never got to
do that, unfortunately.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Well we're gonna do, by the way, is the show's
going to be broken up into two parts. We're gonna
start off with a lot of our baseball topics earlier.
George Raycorn is going to get in the middle with
a comment on Lenny Wilkins, and then we'll have football
a little bit towards the ANCIL want to make sure
it's organized and I have some strong thoughts about what
took place in another area that we'll get to when
I partying. Shot that I have is going to probably
(17:39):
be one. Everybody's gonna get a piece of the action
on that as well. So with that said, George, some
thoughts about.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
I have absolute confidence that all of these guys who
are so well deserving to enter the Hall of Fame,
Dick Allen, Dave Parker, C. C. Sabbatia Etru, and Billy
Wagner when they had the induction ceremonies last Sunday, I mean,
it was a great, great day. It was great for baseball.
(18:09):
It was not overwhelmingly crowded. I did see a few
empty folding chairs towards the back, So I mean, I
know that a lot of people gravitate to the bigger,
bigger names, but man, these were great names, great guys,
and like you guys said, unfortunately the deaths of Dave
Parker and Dick Allen much book much a while back,
(18:31):
cast a little bit of a pall. But to see,
I think there were like fifty six fifty six, you know,
and Ductee's coming out there and they're introduced one by one,
and that's where I relate because of like Scott knows
and everybody knows, we go a lot of years back.
Scott and I forty six, forty seven years we've seen
(18:51):
most of those guys, but just one Mirochelle again to
see Johnny Bench come out, and of course Jim Leeland
and some of the ones that even needed a little assistance,
they didn't want to pass it up, even if they
were using a walker, wheelchair or a cane. But this
is a great game for baseball. I agree with whoever
said it earlier. It's too bad there can't be more
(19:13):
coverage because it is such an important day for baseball.
But unfortunately you're always going to have conflicts with whatever's
going on. But no, it was. It was a great
class this year, Scott, and I really really think that
the writers and the Special Committee did the right thing
with these five.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Did Leland or did Leland have a cigarette?
Speaker 4 (19:36):
No cigarettes? No, they told them out of date Land.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
Yeah, I'm gonna George, I'm going to partially disagree with
you on the right thing. In a second, Rob get
a piece of the action of Fernando glad to have
you on. Not sure. I do not hold something local
to the stadium or host a Hall of Fame night leading
up or after the event. Actually they do hunt a
lot of these players. I think.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
The Yankees are honoring CC.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Yeah you do, Randa, But I'm glad you brought that up.
All right, Robie, you have you go ahead, And I
have a couple of things I want to get off
my chest as well about.
Speaker 6 (20:11):
This great class.
Speaker 5 (20:13):
Of course, listen, at least I'm glad that Dave Parker
at least knew he was in the Hall of Fame.
I mean, it's a shame he didn't get to enjoy
the ceremony.
Speaker 6 (20:23):
But I also I agree with George.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
I love when they announced, you know, the old Hall
of Famers. I love when they come out. You know,
it's just history in front of us. But you know
what's kind of sad too. Every year, you know, it
gets smaller and smaller. Ten years ago it was packed.
(20:45):
We've lost a lot of people in the past, even
five years, Willie Mays, Hank Garry Gibson.
Speaker 6 (20:51):
Stever Carter, ten years ago.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
It's it's just that's the part that you know, is
sad about the ceremony. But I love seeing the old guys.
It's great and this class was great. Next year we
have to see what the class is going to look
like next year, Scott.
Speaker 6 (21:11):
But this year it was great.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Yeah. The only problem I do have with what took
place is why Eastro did not get one hundred percent
of the vote. Don't know, Yes, I mean that's absurd.
Whatever left him off the ballot should be I should
lose their privilege of voting. Mariano Roberto, I believe it's
the only one on record that got them all right.
(21:33):
Suzuki should have been there, and I wouldn't even I
could even make a case for Derek Jeter as well.
But if you don't put Jeter, I understand. But there's
no darn reason why eat Ro Suzuki should not have
gotten a hundred percent. That to me is absolutely criminal.
And another thing, Robert you mentioned as well, COVID nineteen.
I think we've lost like twenty people in the last
five years, and that is sad. Not because of that situation,
(21:55):
but we've lost a lot. And al Caline obviously went
down as well. I could get into that. I don't
have the time to get into that because we have
so much stuff we have to get to. Yeah, but
in this it was a pretty good class. It was evil.
Wade Bobs felt bad about it because in the two
thousand and five class it was just him and it
was Ryan Sandberg and Ryan Sandberg just barely got in,
(22:15):
as I understand, but they got in. And what do
you have Wade Bogs and Ryan Sandberg together. That's a
pretty good class of just those two fellows by themselves,
they should.
Speaker 7 (22:25):
Be one hundred percent to when you think about it,
Yeah right, I mean, how can you not ute them in?
Speaker 5 (22:31):
Listen, guys, A lot of guys who should have got
one hundred percent.
Speaker 6 (22:35):
Yeh didn't, Imagio didn't, Sieber didn't. We could go down
the line.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Right right everybody, but Rivera didn't.
Speaker 6 (22:44):
Get exactly there you go.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
All right, I'm going to go to one more baseball topic,
one all too familiar with people in Detroit anyways, but
we're going to talk about distance. We're in the baseball
mind set. The Detroit Tigers are actually slept by Seattle
in nineteen eighty four. The irony is they won the
World Series that year, so they were swept by Seattle
this year. It's at an moment I don't know, but
(23:07):
the Tigers have been snake bitten by the injury bug lately.
But at least and there's still a lot, there's still
the night in tomorrow to go. But to the Tiger's credit,
They did make a trade with the Minnesota Twins this
week when they acquired right handed pitcher Chris Paddick and
right handed pitcher Randy Dobnik. I believe Pandic won to day.
I think he went six innings, gave up a run
(23:28):
first act, doing pretty well with Jake Rodgers, the guy who,
by the way, I interviewed him, I was down here
from Minnesota and at SA catcher en Rique m and
s Pandic on winter today. Reche Olsen, by the way,
is out for the season with a shoulder string. Detroit
also got a solid pitching outing this week by Troy
Helton versus a diamond back, going seven innings allowing no run.
(23:48):
So a couple of good pitching performances by some reinforcements.
So you know what we're gonna start off with, George,
Let's talk about the irony with Seattle on some of
these new additions that you're back in Metro Detroit anyways.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
Yeah, yeah, I mean it is ironic. Seattle's got the
number for the Tigers, and that happens a lot in
different situations. We all know that with different arrivals. But boy,
that is a that's an amazing stat and the fact
that you dug deep there to get that nineteen eighty
four comparison. We'll see, but's that's certainly the Tigers are
(24:21):
not happy about losing all those games. But yeah, and
you know, and what's going on right now is now
that you know, they're winning again, and that was very nice.
They swept the d Backs and with this afternoon's win
and now they got to go to Philly a huge
series this weekend in Philadelphia. That's not going to get
a whole lot better than that, I mean, as far
as two clubs that are trying to get a good
(24:41):
back in the World Series. But the pitching situation, yeah,
is still very disconcerting because you mentioned Scott Troy Melton
came out of the miners, came up from Toledo and
he did a hell of a job. And then the
guy that picked up from Minnesota and the trade. So
I'm thinking, now, even though the Jackson job has gone,
and even though uh, you know, god, there's so many injuries,
(25:06):
I think they and I'm not gonna dwell on that,
they got to go forward. They got to have an
upbeat situation. And I think that's what aj Hens Springs
and they're having fun with Green and shaving his beard
and stuff right now. But all in all, I think
that if they weren't as bad as that losing streak,
that terrible twelve out of thirteen, eleven or twelve, whatever
(25:27):
it was. But they certainly are a better team than that,
and I think they'll continue to to lead the way,
at least in the American League.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
I'm going to Jacob.
Speaker 9 (25:40):
Here's the thing about this, George. One of the things
to remember is the helllic how far Detroit made last year,
you know, I mean, how hard they did this?
Speaker 3 (25:48):
I here.
Speaker 9 (25:48):
This is the thing when you have a team like
this and you get yourself a manager and all that stuff.
Detroit had a lot a lot, a lot, a lot
a lot of years they're just bad a lot, And
now now they're learning to win. This is learning to win,
Bill right now. And it's like they got that far
last year. They're a target now and it's like, so
(26:10):
there's gonna be struggles and a team like Seattle. You
got to remember you've got cal Raley, who've got forty
two homers right now. They got him and he's one
thing about let me tell you this about to him,
and I will say this, he goes out of that lineup,
they're in trouble not to because he's the only guy.
But he's a heart, he's got a heart that lineup.
But right now they've gotten them there dangerous. So don't
(26:34):
even worry about that kind of thing. But don't worry
about your team. Don't worry about your team by itself.
And even if something would happen, a lot of people
are talking about, oh my god, they're sinking, tanking, whatever
they're saying, forget about that, because really it's a team
learning how to win. It's like, remember the Cubs won
in sixteen, they never had one one hundred and eight years.
(26:55):
They get back in seventeen, they have to go to
the NLCS and get clovered, and then from there on
that first round, first round, then none at all, so
and then they've had to learn to come back again.
So it happens with teams. It's like when it's a
young team or it's a team whatsoever, it's somebody that's
learning how to do it. This will happen. So it's
(27:18):
up to Detroit to figure it out.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
You know this out.
Speaker 9 (27:21):
And even if just one more thing was say, if
something would happen with them, and then when they don't
panic like everybody else will because it's a learning process.
Constant winning is learning.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
We'll go to Fernando Vargus really quickly and channel tires
and loose ten. So'll be up the first. It is
our lead to give up, no question about that. And
it looks like the Minnesota twinter sellars. I have a
feeling in Cleveland with how they will be too. Most
of the first players teams are trash or fifty to
fifty one. I can't really make it a can't debate
that either. Okay, we'll turn over a rob.
Speaker 5 (27:52):
Yeah, listen Detroit on our show. I picked Detroit when
when me and Chris made our tikes, I picked Detroit
to win the American League pennant this year. All right,
so I think you know Detroit has an excellent team.
Speaker 6 (28:07):
Of course they're gonna have They're gonna go through a slump.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Right.
Speaker 6 (28:10):
Season is so long.
Speaker 5 (28:12):
Everyone says it's you know, it's a marathon, and it is.
They went through a bad spell. They're winning again.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
Riley Green with just a mustache. I think they won
three games.
Speaker 5 (28:25):
So he says he's gonna can get that way. But
I'm you know, they'll be fine. They'll be fine. I'm
gonna stick with it. I think they're gonna win the
American League, Pennant and I'm not I'm not worried about
the Detroit Tigers with that losing streak. It happens to
every team, and they're winning again. So that's that's That's
(28:46):
what I think.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 8 (28:50):
I'm with you, Candy, the Tigers are just fine. Yes,
every team goes through slumps and goes through hot streaks. Fernando,
I would beg to differ that you think that the
rest of the first place teams are trash. I say,
(29:13):
it depends on the division that you're talking about, and
I don't know that I would ever say trash. There
are some divisions that are very tightly contested, let's say
right now. But the Tigers are fine. The Tigers have pitching.
As long as the Tigers stay healthy, they'll be fine.
And that's pretty much what I would say true of
(29:35):
a lot of the teams. If they stay healthy, they'll
be just fine.
Speaker 7 (29:40):
Okay, Yeah, I mean, just to add, I think with
the especially in the American League, the American League is
wide open, right now, right, there's no great teams. And
you can even go into the National League and say
the same thing, right with the Dodges being banged up
as they are.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
But in the American League specifically, I mean, there's no
great teams. There's good teams, but they're all flawed. Every
team has some sort of flow to them.
Speaker 7 (30:06):
And but the Tigers are in a weak division and
they're taking full advantage.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Right.
Speaker 7 (30:10):
They got a nice lead, so they could they could
handle a little bit of a slump and and just
keep moving on, you know, And I think they got
They do have a really good team. But are they
a team that you're going to go into the playoffs
and say, Okay, they're definitely gonna win the American League?
Speaker 1 (30:24):
Right?
Speaker 2 (30:25):
I don't see that because I.
Speaker 7 (30:27):
See every other team kind of in you know, the
top teams at least, they're all kind of the same.
They all got their their good side, and you know,
they're kind of weak in other positions too, Like I
don't love the Tiger's bullpen, right.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
I mean, Will vest is a decent.
Speaker 7 (30:41):
Closer this year, but he showed me that you could
do it in the playoffs. First, before we call you
a good closer, right, and the rest of the bullpen.
That's that's how I looked at the Tigers.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
You know, we'll revisit that after the trade deadline, Like
I said tomorrow night, we'll be able to do that.
Ever heard of terrorist school gets what? He's pretty good?
Heard of a J. Hinch won a World Series? Pretty good?
Speaker 7 (31:02):
Listen, schools schools like an automatic w in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
School is a rich man waiting to happen. And we'll
leave it at that. Now we're gonna stay. We're going
to stand the Detroit thing a little bit. Stances as
Nicorn night back. Anyways, have a couple of topics right
up his alley and we'll go.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
Can I say one thing? That's the pizza there? Real quick?
Speaker 1 (31:21):
Go ahead.
Speaker 9 (31:22):
Be careful about saying Terrek is a automatic because they
used to think that about Clayton Kershaw and he couldn't
win for about three years in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Right, Schools in the playoffs last year?
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Right? Can you give up a mental thing? You've got?
Speaker 9 (31:36):
The playoffs are different of animal Arrek's awesome, So it's schemes,
but it's a mental thing once you get there.
Speaker 7 (31:42):
Yeah, I mean I I kind of said that with
Will vest and and just with you could call. You
could say that about every team in the league right now,
right what team has has proved in themselves in the playoffs?
Speaker 3 (31:54):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (31:55):
I know, I know, right, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
Okay, onward we go. A couple of topics, will go
a lot quicker than what we've had, But they had
three heavy hitters at the beginning. One voice we won't
be singing college football past twenty twenty five former Detroit
Lion and t is who's currently working for CBS now,
Gary Danielson. He'll retire, Charles Davis will take over in
the twenty twenty six. All right, Jacob, but you're thoughts
(32:22):
you follow college football much. I don't want that, Gary Danielson.
Speaker 9 (32:25):
It's the uh it reminds you of burn lundquists going
out to you know what I mean, We're losing our
we're losing everybody.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
We're losing.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
See.
Speaker 9 (32:35):
And the thing about it, I think about these all
the time is these are specially these are very very
special announcers. You think I say, I say these names
and stuff. There's a couple of years that did golf
and you think about all these and they have their
own spin, whether it's college football, it's golf, tennis, any
of that stuff. The one thing that we don't have
(32:55):
with announcers like they all everybody used to everybody I'm
talking about Gary Daniels, State, including right, They used to
sound like they're your buddy and they're at the bar
and we're having talked everybody. Now sounds like they came
out of announcing school, right, And it sounds very, very
(33:17):
like you were taught in a classroom. Yeah, but be careful,
they'll say this begin it's like it didn't feel organic.
And I'm gonna miss the guy because like I'm gonna
miss one quistye list, Keith Jackson from way in the day.
You miss them all because they don't have that. There's
a lot of these current announcers. There's a couple left
that do. But when they retire, that's going to be it.
(33:39):
Because this current crop twenty five thirty years old. They're
just kind of in a classroom and it kind of stinks.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
So we missed. We're gonna miss these guys.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
Agree, all right, George, you don't love technos plenty with.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
Yeah, you know Gary, uh. Gary was a great quarterback
in the Big Ten and you know, and then played
for the Lions a little bit. He has been a
real rock there for CBS and their college football game.
And you mentioned, of course working with one quist. But
I'll tell you what, Gary, And one thing about him is,
(34:14):
you know, he's never afraid to try to, you know,
give his opinion. And when he talks, people listen. I mean,
you know, I know he wasn't like on the Monday
Night Football Crew. He never got to to call a
super Bowl or stuff like that, but he was happy
with where he was. He he loves his college football
and he loves describing as an analyst. IM in a
(34:36):
game analyst. And you're right, Jacob, I mean these you're
not going to see those kind of teams very much anymore.
I mean a lot of the guys that we grew
up with, us older folk are retiring or sadly some
have passed on as we know. But yeah, Danielson, he's
going to be messed and he's a good guy. And
he's always been one of my top college jannalyists that
(34:58):
I that I root for too.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
The spice.
Speaker 9 (35:01):
They don't have the spice, George, like they like they
were there, Like I said, they like Madden came straight
from coaching and so he had to learn his own way,
and then said, you had to learn your own way.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
And Negelson came from the NFL. You had to learn
your own way. They're not learning.
Speaker 9 (35:15):
They weren't learning a classrooms. They weren't learning this organic,
one step way.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
Deal like certain things do. They learn basically what works.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
Garry Daniels is all those guys that didn't need a
Super Bowl to define his legacy. He's a foundation, all right, Rob.
Speaker 6 (35:32):
Yeah, well I I agree, and you know he's going
to be missed. But you know what the other guy said.
Things are just it's it's just different. The old school
announcing is dying.
Speaker 5 (35:45):
You know, it's a slow death. But the announcers we
you know, he didn't he didn't have to. He didn't
have to be an analyst in the NFL. Right, it
didn't matter. He was happy and people love them. Now
it's it's just everything's different. See that's I went to
(36:06):
school for communications and broadcasting. Okay, I started out when
I when I was a kid.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
I started out.
Speaker 5 (36:14):
I got a lucky break because Jay Horowitz of the Mets,
this was this was in the early eighties, gave me
a break and let me interview the Mets a couple
of times, and I was able to build there. But
then I got into media management, the broadcasting teams were
so different, and I just think it's as the older
(36:37):
ones die in every sport. I'm not just talking about
college football, basketball.
Speaker 6 (36:43):
I'm talking about everything. It's just gonna be. It's it's
just different. And you know I'm old.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
School, no kidding, I'll tell you what it's okay, Rob, Yeah,
one of the guys's credentialed me a lot, one of
the finest people you'll ever meet. Great, He's been a
really big help to me all through my years when
I was with the Mess. So I've always been grateful
for Jay Horror. It's one of the classes. And I'm
pretty neat that you ended up across the pads of
(37:09):
them too, Jay Horror, which is as good as they get.
And when it comes to public relations communications, this guy,
just to me is a jewel. All right, Candy, we.
Speaker 8 (37:21):
Talk about old school media, we talk about these old gems.
Let's face it, back in the day when they started
like they had to know the knowledge.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
In their head.
Speaker 8 (37:32):
They didn't have computers like these guys do. Now that
can spew out different stats and all that so quickly
they knew those things. But kudos to him that he's
going out when he wants to go out.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
That We've had so many other.
Speaker 8 (37:50):
People that have gone out because of other reasons. So
it's always nice to see someone retiring on his terms
wanting to, you know, live life. Let's face it, there
has been we've we just we talked to earlier Ryan
Sam Sambury how he lost his life. Paul Cogan, like,
(38:15):
go out, go and enjoy retirement. You've you've worked for
how long? Enjoy your enjoy your life.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
You do all right about it.
Speaker 7 (38:28):
I think, you know what, he's one of those iconic voices,
and he's kind of underappreciated or or underrated because of
I think you guys mentioned right, like he never got
to to do a Super Bowl. You know, that was
probably more more his choice staying in college football. But
I think staying in college football, he kind of stayed
(38:49):
under the radar for you know whatever. It's been thirty five,
forty years. But he is one of the greatest voices.
I think, you know, easily over the last you know,
for years, at least during my lifetime. You know, going
back to Keith Jackson, I mean, he's definitely one of
the greatest voices in college football or in sports in general. Right, So,
(39:10):
but I think, like Candy said, he's going out on
his terms, which which is great.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
Sometimes you don't you don't get a chance to do that.
Speaker 7 (39:16):
So he's going out on top, which is awesome, you know,
because he's still one of the best or the best
college football announcer out there. So he's definitely gonna be missed.
I know I'm going to miss a you know, listening
to him for sure on CBS.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
We'll put it this way. For many years he covered
the Southeastern Conference the last few years because the shakeover
on the TV deals he gets a big ten not
the worst thing I've ever seen. Will segue over to
a big ten. Two. By the way, is mister Charon
Moore banning flag planting after a fight with Ohio State University.
All Right, Cossa here talks about Sharon Moore banning flag planting.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
I love it.
Speaker 6 (39:51):
I listen.
Speaker 7 (39:52):
I'm I'm a Michigan fan to begin with, so, but
I love this decision by the coach putting it out
there saying, hey, we're not going to do that.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
I hated seeing it when when teams do that.
Speaker 7 (40:02):
I hated seeing Michigan do that as much as it
was against Ohio State. I hated seeing it because it's
one of those just beat them and that's that's enough, Right,
do what you gotta do, you know. And I think
what he said in the article is that he's gonna,
you know, shake the hands, do everything, because these guys
they're still kids, right, They're still you know, some of
(40:23):
them are teenagers still, and they're gonna just go to
go to the to the band and sing the fight
song and and that's it.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
So I love it.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
I think it's a great decision.
Speaker 8 (40:34):
Candy I liked last night we talked about this on
the Inside the Pigskin and Tom Shanahan brought over what
is the tradition between Army and Navy? What happens no
matter who wins, they sing their fight song first after
the game.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
What a tradition?
Speaker 8 (40:55):
Do I think he has to come out and tell
everybody publicly that he's banned thing his guys from doing this.
Speaker 4 (41:02):
No, but.
Speaker 8 (41:05):
I also think that these are kids and they get excited,
and how do you how do you put uh? How
do you tell them what they can and can't do
when they're celebrating something a feat that they just did.
And let's face it, last year they weren't expected to
go in and beat Ohio State, but they did, like
(41:26):
and how do you how do you tell them, Okay,
you have to celebrate, but you can't celebrate by doing this.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
You can only do this or that.
Speaker 8 (41:34):
I just it's just hard because where do you draw
the line?
Speaker 1 (41:39):
Take up? And I'm sure you have thoughts about this.
Speaker 4 (41:43):
Well.
Speaker 3 (41:47):
Stops it.
Speaker 9 (41:48):
Then again, here's the thing with all these n I ls,
how many people leave, is the Michigan and Ohio state
broaderry going to be the same as din I L
unless they put a zip to that a little bit?
Because when you had this rivalry for so many years,
hundreds of years whatever you know, tens of fifty and
whatever amount of years people stayed four years, you learn
(42:11):
to hate your the rival? How do you learn to
hate the rival and you leave in one year? So
will it matter at that point? And will anybody listen
to begin with? I mean, it just makes me wonder.
But here's the real rivalry is in what it is
Michigan beating the Ohio State and the State came back
and won the whole division and won the whole title.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
There's the rivalry right there.
Speaker 9 (42:31):
It's like Michigan's saying that's not a real championship, but
the Ohio States saying we will just beat you next year.
Speaker 3 (42:39):
That's the perfect rivalry.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
You know.
Speaker 9 (42:41):
It's like one won the game, one won the title.
You have perfect, two perfect storylines right there. You don't
need anything else.
Speaker 4 (42:51):
George, Well, yeah, I'm very happy at the news, and
I'm glad coach did that, because that isn't Michigan football,
you know, uh, having a tunnel fight with against Michigan
State and and having a plant, uh planning that flag
at midfield. That's not Bo scham Beckler and not Lloyd
(43:11):
Carr kind of football or even Jim Harbaugh. So I
think that he did have to put his foot down
and and he did. And you know, the guys, there's
ways to celebrate, but you don't rub it in their face.
And that's kind of the rub it in your face
mentality unfortunately that a lot of young athletes and football
players at these schools know nowadays. And you know, it
(43:35):
just it was just I think a solid decision by him.
And emphasizing that that that's not what we stand for.
And you know, whether you like Michigan or don't like him,
it doesn't matter. The fact matter is is there is
some fair gamemanship here. And whether it's shaking hands or
whether it's just quietly going and singing like Candy said,
(43:56):
singing your your alma mata or whatever the song. That
what college football is to me and what what I've
grown up with. I don't need all this other stuff.
Shenanigan's like that.
Speaker 9 (44:08):
With you do that with sham Becker, You'll be running
steps for a week and then you'll yeah, I'm not
kidding with that. I mean that you did not and
everybody knew it because they were behaving that day like
the good exceptions, but you give them a boy.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
Hey, Rob, I have some interesting opinions. I'm just waiting
to see what everybody goes with this one.
Speaker 9 (44:28):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (44:29):
You know, I'm from New York. I like the flag planting.
I want to see them beat the crap out of
each other.
Speaker 6 (44:34):
I'm only kidding.
Speaker 1 (44:38):
No, I am.
Speaker 3 (44:43):
From you want to fight?
Speaker 5 (44:46):
No, listen, listen, Coach made a good decision, right because
these kids are fighting, and you know, now's the time
you got to teach them sportsmanship and they bring something.
Speaker 6 (44:58):
They bring this crap to the nf L. And then
we saw what was going on in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (45:03):
Right, they're young, they're you know they I think it's
just a good idea to stop it. Sing sing the
fight song, sing sing the victory song.
Speaker 1 (45:16):
But no more.
Speaker 6 (45:17):
You know, flag on a fifty yard line fighting.
Speaker 5 (45:21):
The kids get pissed at each other, and you know
they hate each other, be rivals.
Speaker 6 (45:26):
But after everything's over, shake hands.
Speaker 1 (45:29):
Well you know what Fred Sanford used to go ahead
and have alignment. He didn't like. Mohamma, are you crazy?
I'm not saying you guys are? People call me that
I really can't have a plot. Once upon a time
the Ohio State Book, I said, we're gonna put a
one hunter spot on you. You can't sit here and
tell me at some point or another that these guys
(45:50):
didn't hear that somewhere and the Wolverine beat them. Now
I get this working ship. Maybe I'm the one person
on this panel that might just understand that flag planning
a little bit more than most. It's a little alone
sticking it on Ohio State when they wanted to put
a hundred on you, then what has happened? They haven't
beat the Wolverine since, So as far as I'm concerned,
(46:14):
forget about that two to one the others as they
do on you. But some of these kids may not
know the history of a lot of other sports that
they probably know the history of his rivalry and one
guy by the name of Ryan Days ever we want
in mind putting a hundred on you. And you know what,
even though Ohio State did bounce back and they won
the national championship, got got it right at the right time,
(46:36):
the Wolverines can't actually say had a moral victory that
we ended up beating you guys and you had to
win for it and get it right. So I understand
it's a right decision. I do believe it, but I'm
going to also say that I don't blame them for
doing it. So I'm going to say I don't blame
them because nobody wants to be told they're going to
put a hundred on you, let alone. But in Michigan
(46:57):
and Ohio State, if they do invite him to drive
an ie ninety five in New York when you got
on five, it here in Miami when they cut you
out and everybody's getting flag planted with bender benders because
nobody knows what the word turns shaken means. So I'll
leave it at that. I get it a little bit.
(47:17):
Gonna give my corn a chance for a little solo segment. Well,
we would have gotten it, but he's not on. But
George will get it by himself. It's an easy one,
so you don't have to take forever or I'll give
you a really seriously, really but since you're a basketball
guy and I haven't had basketball topics on lately, I'm
gonna get George's perspective about the fact that Lenny Wilkins
is getting got a statue outside of Climate Pledge Arena
(47:38):
in Seattle. What are your thoughts about that, George.
Speaker 4 (47:40):
Well, yeah, this guy is a class act too. We
talk about class individuals. Lenny Wilkins. You know, back in
the days when the NBA wasn't as crazy it is now,
Lenny Wilkins was definitely one of the best coaches around.
I mean he came in and he would play the
Pistons wherever he went, not just Detroit, but I mean
(48:02):
anywhere that man went. He he just exuded class to me.
He was a sharp dresser and he was really really
one of the finest X and OS guys I've ever
seen as far as head coaching. Just a great individual.
And you know what, a lot of people give credit
to a lot of you know, African Americans, you know, unrightfully,
so Bill Russell, our own in Detroit, Ray Scott or Lloyd,
(48:26):
but boy Lenny Wilkins. As far as coaching, he was
one of the top top black coaches in the NBA
and coaches period. And you know he showed that and
deserve that statue. I'm glad they did that for him.
He's certainly a class individual.
Speaker 1 (48:43):
Okay, great, thanks for your perspective on that. So we're
going to do is I'm going to go to our
non sports topics and then we're going to go to
a station break and what we do. I've got a
present for Rob, so I hopefully don't miss this one.
I mean, I got a president. Robb will never forget.
Rob will be telling everybody on MLB Talk and Chris
(49:05):
what he the MotorCity Man will pull out of his
pocket and pick the right time in to it. Oh
my goodness, they doomed for this, so we're gonna go
to my nonsports topics of the night. So get this,
Tesla is up to eight hundred millions of cyber truck
people that nobody wants ten thousand units in inventory being
stored in unconventional locations like them all in the parking lots.
(49:29):
My goodness. So, but that said, when you guys drive
a Tesla, I would drive the car. Here, let's go
ahead and start up at the top.
Speaker 7 (49:39):
Yeah, I'll drive the car. I don't like the truck.
I think the truck is the ugliest thing on the
face of the earth. So no, I would not drive
the truck the car. I have no problem driving one
of the.
Speaker 1 (49:48):
Cars good enough. We don't have to have long winded
answers on this because I got plenty of other stuff
I want to get to that's gonna have to be last.
I know we started this thing off seriously, but there's
gonna be a little humor on this over the horse
over to be coming soon. And you guys even realizing,
cow Katie, would you drive a Tesla.
Speaker 8 (50:06):
Not the truck, you know, like like pizza.
Speaker 9 (50:09):
No, not the truck, Okay, Jacob, The truck looks like
something that in about ten fifteen years when I would
have kids, and I say, that's.
Speaker 1 (50:18):
What it looks like.
Speaker 2 (50:20):
Really, who designed this?
Speaker 9 (50:23):
Yeah, exactly exactly. It's kind of like the old car today.
But the car, sure, maybe this depending but I'll be
going for hybrid anyway. But the truck nah, maybe for
a maybe for a rolling billboard.
Speaker 1 (50:37):
Okay, what about you, George.
Speaker 4 (50:41):
You're talking about a kuy from Detroit with the Chrysler
Ford and GM here. But it's not just that, it's
the fact that I don't like the style of it.
I probably could do the car, but definitely not the
truck either.
Speaker 6 (50:56):
What about you, Ron, Yeah, I would drive the truck
and I would put on an ET mask and I'd
drive around the trailer parks in Jersey and jump out
of the Tesla truck with the ET mask on.
Speaker 1 (51:12):
There you go. Here, here's what I think. Number one.
I won't drive an electric vehicle. And one of the
many years ago, I tried to use an electric mower
to work on my cottage and beaver to Michigan, and
that didn't work out very well, and the love didn't
get done and I had to get done because I
couldn't get the stupid core to reach around it anyways,
(51:32):
So that's number one. Number two, that truck blows in Afghanistan,
not on a road near you, if alongs in Afghanistan. No,
I don't want. Yeah, I don't even know what.
Speaker 2 (51:45):
I'm gonna drive down to South Florida with some pizza
in that truck. How's that?
Speaker 1 (51:50):
Yeah? I like Joe too, so no to full electric cards,
bing old brother whatever. I don't drink, but Cheerseley and Joe. Now.
I wouldn't drive an elect the car. I wouldn't drive
a self driving car. And I know my driving's been
a little bit limited because I've been sick lately, but
I wouldn't. I love my Honda honestly called that my
(52:12):
condo on wheels now since I had to not New
York Dynamic due this topic is custom meant custom made
to fifties two guys, I love my New York Dynamic duo.
Oh boy, so get ready for this one, people. New
York has about billionaires in the world. They got one
hundred and twenty three of them pulled about seven hundred
(52:33):
and fifty nine billion dollars, according to forms New York
Money Mlady dollars nine take it to the bank wherever
you put it up there. Get this, one hundred and
twenty three billionaires and seven hundred and fifty nine billion
dollars for the impressive huff pizza. You can buying off
(52:53):
a lot of pizza for that kind of dough.
Speaker 2 (52:55):
Yeah, why not? Yeah, I mean it doesn't shock me. Right,
New York is we see a lot of rich people
out in New York, you know, out in the islands
you do, and then in the city.
Speaker 7 (53:04):
Yeah, so you got to remember a lot of stars
lived out and out in the Hampton's or in the city.
Speaker 2 (53:10):
So it kind of doesn't shock me. Yeah, you know,
that's the night.
Speaker 1 (53:15):
Hold on both of your numbers for the night. And
here's the thing recommendation from a group here. If you
go ahead and take one one hundred and twenty three
mind you okay, and then we have seventy five nine.
What you have is a sick digit number. If you
win the lottery with that number, the rule is, I
don't want to know about it, period. I get you sick.
(53:35):
I get I'm not a lottery guy, but I gave
you lots of lot of recombinations of that number. We
have billionaires. We might have another one if some of
these people out here and are fan big get it right,
But I heard it here on this port. I could
get that out there.
Speaker 2 (53:50):
How many in Florida? How many billionaires are in Florida?
Speaker 1 (53:55):
Huh?
Speaker 2 (53:56):
How many billionaires are in Florida?
Speaker 1 (53:57):
You know those are the topic, so will be one one.
All I can tell you is that if you have
mye Palm Beach County anyways, in Jupiter anyways, Palm Beach
County's got some money, that's for sure. All you have
to do is go right on the beach and some
of these other joints. I think you and our president
has to join out in Mari Lago. But don't get
me started with this guy, you know, because if I do,
(54:21):
that's going to blow up, and I don't want to
do that. My voice only has so long it can go.
All right.
Speaker 8 (54:27):
So the answer to your question is there are seventy
eight billionaires in the state of Florida.
Speaker 1 (54:35):
So it's not bad where they kill. Now you went
that far? Where are they we got be in Palm
Beach County.
Speaker 4 (54:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (54:44):
I didn't get that.
Speaker 1 (54:45):
It's okay. She gave you what you guys got.
Speaker 2 (54:51):
What is in Jacksonville. Right, the guy that owns the
Jaguars is well shot.
Speaker 1 (54:56):
Con puts his money out one and don't worry about that.
That's why. Well when they play there. But look, Dan,
you gave it to you. That's all we need to know.
We ain't gonna go out it further than that. But
New York has at one twenty three, seven hundred and
fifty nine billion dollars a lot of dough. Why do
you think you have a lot of peas out there?
Because he got a lot of dough. I'll forget the
stupid analogies. I haven't done much cafeeness that normally should have.
(55:17):
All right, Jacob, what your thought about our New York people?
Not bad? Love it?
Speaker 3 (55:21):
Love it because it gives me motivation.
Speaker 1 (55:23):
I want it.
Speaker 3 (55:25):
No, I don't have it, you know.
Speaker 9 (55:27):
I want that kind of money and maybe it happens,
maybe it doesn't, but they give me a motivation. It's like,
if there's not a motivation, what's the point.
Speaker 1 (55:34):
See, that's why I have my New York Dynamic duel.
I could get away book, put it in a non
sports topic. Guy, they didn't know what these things were
last week, but they get their past learners. These two guys.
That's why I touch I brought this topic gun before
mister Cruz here, who's gonna have a segment on his own. Well,
if you think he's laughing, owt, wait until you get
done here, because I'll tell you what, George, what do
you think about those millionaires? You never find outs in
(55:56):
Detroit these days?
Speaker 4 (55:57):
Oh well, listen, they some of them worked very, very hard,
most of them do to get that kind of a
lofty status, something that I'll never see. But I think
that New York that's typical. They would have the most.
But you know, we got a few, and not too many,
but we got a few in Michigan. Uh yeah, got
(56:17):
Gilbert owns the Cavaliers. I think he's a billionaire.
Speaker 1 (56:21):
Well you said a few versus one hundred twenty exactly,
and some of them are buried in clover Hill Park Cemetery.
That's what that you.
Speaker 4 (56:32):
That's right? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (56:35):
Yeah, I know about him, and I know he's on
great site. I just thought it was a lighthearted topic
here because when we come back, we're going to have
another one. We have a segment all designed for Rob.
Oh My, Rob and Chris will be talking about this
on their Friday show, and I guarantee they're going to
want me to repeat this thing back here, and they
will even give them the rights for what I'm about
(56:57):
to do. Great stuff here, Joe, I love hey with
this guy. Everybody on here been really good. Bernando was
his baseball knowledge. And all right, well, Kennie, let's go
to a station break, and when we come back, we're
gonna have Rob's big moment here. Complimentary, yours truly.
Speaker 8 (57:15):

Speaker 1 (58:12):
That to you, Scott, all right, Well, I want to
also pay my respect to Stephen Ruschel for helping me
with this particular gift over to Rob. You don't know
me up, but Stephen Ruschel did a very good job
doing and for me when Candy and I went overseas.
So but that said, Rob, I want you to explain
what you're gonna be doing. You're going on a cruise.
How many have you been on that?
Speaker 6 (58:33):
Seventeen before this one?
Speaker 1 (58:35):
Okay, seventeen? Well I've been on like four or five
of them, but the last one was a Tuesy, so seventeen.
So I'm going to dedicate this video to Rob. I
really am. I really feel it's a necessary thing because
I had the New York Dynamic Duel. Here. These two
guys are studs, They're in my system. We're going to
bring them on as often as the guys want to
come on. We're going to keep them up balance because
(58:57):
they don't know what the heck come up to you.
Then again they never will. But every welcome to bring
me on there to live in their audience anytime they
need me. I'm only a text message or a messenger
thought away. But in dedication to my brother Rob, go to.
Speaker 8 (59:11):
It, Candy, okay, let me let me cheat it up here, let.
Speaker 4 (59:16):
Me beat it up man, share my screen.
Speaker 3 (59:20):
Rob.
Speaker 1 (59:20):
You will never forget me, and neither will you. Pizza.
After this they shows they hey, you use these things
the right way and might might as well make a
(59:42):
musical instrument out of them. To me, these are metals, Well,
these are good musical instruments, everybody, And then I hit
bo tea plays here and I'm telling you right now
that I know I'm not going to use them the
right way, so we might as well go out there
and entertain you, knowing full well that forks are my reality.
(01:00:05):
These little bad boys called chopsticks that metal make great
musical intro. Lower City man Mouth is here in the
boat and he is king of the road and is
enjoying to put this video up there for those of
you that don't want to use chopsticks the right way.
Make a new musical instrument out of them, because I'll
(01:00:26):
say one last time, may your old kind see may
your old and sold song if you want. All right, Anyways,
there you go, Rob, I had those metal chopsticks, and
I actually had the boat give me a few of those.
I could take them home and put them in the
Hall of Fame. So Rob, you know, I don't know
(01:00:50):
if you have a hibachi place on there, but maybe
I don't know how to use chopsticks. People. I go
with those things called forks. They were, but when you
see those things called metal chopsticks, then you gotta be
able to use them a little bit. I may not
get more than a handful of views on them, then again,
I probably got several on this show you're watching. People
(01:01:10):
said this guy. But here's the lesson to be learned
out of this video. I've learned now, okay, and thats
s I am hooked on international travel. Okay. I've decided
to put my sports bucket list on an indefinite hole
for a while. I don't care because I'm gonna make
(01:01:31):
my own kind of music. And if you think I'm
trying out for American title, then then I'm gonna tell
you something, all politicians are honest, which we know isn't
the case. Probably most people will tell you none of
them are, okay, and that Santa Claus is Jewish, and
we know none of that is the case. So I'm
gonna say this one more time, and I'm detting it
(01:01:53):
to your music, and no, I will be trying out
for American Idol. But I'll tell you what I'm gonna
be doing. I'm going down to the next segment. Wait
a second.
Speaker 5 (01:02:07):
Real quick, going week from the night actually is when
I have reservations for the Japanese restaurant on the ship.
Speaker 1 (01:02:18):
Here's your Wait a minute, here's your homework. Okay, when
you come back, you gotta let me know. Are they
giving you wooden chop sticks or are they're gonna give
you metal ones.
Speaker 6 (01:02:28):
I'll let you know, and I could use either one.
I have no problems with chop sticks.
Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
You can't. But I'll tell you what. I can't even
tie a time, brother, I need click ons. I need
people to freak tie. What makes you think I'm any
good with chop sticks? Really, really, I'm awful.
Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
Robs the v I t he gets the gold ones.
Speaker 1 (01:02:52):
When I was wait a minute, when I was an
undergrad at the University of South Florida. I didn't know
anything about our language either, So what do you think
I did? I stecked the pecket deck with classes in
the summer, and this rgan got up and the skin
of my teeth, man, it gone out. In August of
nineteen eighty six, I did have to pass that stupid requirement,
(01:03:14):
and you know what, I think, I ended up doing
away with it. Otherwise I would have had something to
do with Welcome Back Corner. I would have been a
broke sweat hawk of Colin fun Chief coming out of
my damn pocket. All right, what got me doing? Not
the campy but that time your old kind of music,
And I'm not going over to American Idolma goes and
you're gonna end up having a memory and I'll break
(01:03:36):
those stupid things to do it all. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:03:38):
Thanks, I don't think you have enough energy.
Speaker 1 (01:03:41):
Oh I don't think so either. I don't know. We'll see.
I don't know if I do either. A rob on
behalf of everybody on the sports and Change South for
a tribute network. I want you to have a great time,
and I guarantee after this video. You'll be thinking about me,
for sure. I will.
Speaker 6 (01:03:55):
How could I not thank you?
Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
Yeah, exactly, That's what I told you, my friend, did
I say I was gonna get in some of you.
Never forget about this sgment and you on the sports
show that you would ever have anything to hear about
metal chops, thaks, not people. We're not talking water or
whatever blastic or when we're talking metal, and if you
(01:04:18):
have bigger ones, then he would hurt somebody, but he didn't.
All he did was make everybody laugh. And everybody at
that and Bachi sushi whatever you call that stuff. They
were laughing at me, like where is he going from?
Because you know something I have in coming with that situation.
I had something come over Aaron Rodgers. I did something
like relax and that doesn't happen with me. For those
people that know me, like Corney Candy, no better take
(01:04:39):
them and you two my New York dynamic that we're
gonna find out. You don't know what the word relax.
All he does is work from one o'clock till seven
in the morning, and it goes out later in the
day as he prepares for the show and tries to
find every content taken away to stay mental league charge
here so I can entertain everybody and continue to watch
to the platform grow. And I'll say one thing. As
(01:04:59):
I recruit more and more people, they all have something.
He comes with Barbara with Barbarus strikes that a star
is born and I'm looking for a boy. Where do
all these entertainments come out? I don't know. I had
a great day, Hurricane day. And why do you think
I learned the king shirt? And I got to see
another superstar interviewer in Canada. So there you go, Rob,
(01:05:20):
I mean half of all your friends here and all
the other ones they'll get to know you a time goes.
Have a great trip, brother, and remember than making kind
of music, and now you have a different way of
what chopsics sound like, my brother, And I'll tell you what.
If you want to watch that video, the r A
YouTube channel is right there for to watch it, and
it's entirely we just gave you a that's another range
that people subscribe to. The stop for the media tube
(01:05:42):
channel or maybe that will turn a few people off.
I don't know. We don't let that happen. All right,
next topic here we go. Okay, and that said we're
gonna first, we're gonna talk about little bit NFL news.
Trey Henderson is planning to report to Cincinnati Bengals camp. Obviously,
he did it today to avoid a fifty thousand dollars fine,
(01:06:02):
so a good move by him. Obviously they're miles apart
from getting an extension done, but I think it was
a wise move. I don't need anybody to comment on it.
I just want to get this as a news item
as we can continue to move forward. Also, George Kittle
has resigned extension with the forty nine ers. Anybody wants
to come on either of these topics, do so, but
they don't have to be very long. Anybody out there
that wants to talk about Trey Hendrickson or George Kittle,
(01:06:25):
I don't know if you played fantasy football or not,
but that's some of the most recent NFL news.
Speaker 7 (01:06:31):
Well, I mean, first of all, you got to talk
about Trey Hendrickson. Hendrickson, what is Cincinnati doing? Get this
guy in, sign him, get him done. This guy is
one of, if not the best pass rusher.
Speaker 2 (01:06:44):
In the league.
Speaker 1 (01:06:45):
What are you waiting for?
Speaker 7 (01:06:46):
And you're talking about the Bengals, who defense is horrendous, right,
And how do you think a guy like Joe Burrow
is sitting back, you know, thinking about this. He's probably like, listen,
I know I'm signed to you long term, but I'm
not gonna stay here too long, too much longer if
you're not, if you're not willing to sign you know,
some of your best players, especially on defense.
Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
Joe Burrow could do it all on offense.
Speaker 7 (01:07:10):
Obviously he's gonna put up thirty points a game, maybe
sometimes forty, but his defense is gonna give up even more.
So you gotta get this guy in Cincinnati is I
mean that their owner is obviously not the best in
the league.
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
Let's be honest, team, Okay, all right, you said.
Speaker 1 (01:07:32):
More on you than that. You're two nights on that.
Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
Yeah, I'm too nice.
Speaker 1 (01:07:36):
I'm not I get you that nasty thing in New York.
Gotta know what nasty is, say the damn guy. But
I'm all right, Pizza, I'll give you a pass.
Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
I'm trying my best. I'm trying my pizza.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
Signed a minute, why did you think I have half?
Really seriously really and then the other way seriously really seriously.
And then the motor said he man, because a quiet
now you're okay. I love you pizza, but I just
want you to have a little bit of he's cheap.
He's cheap, just like if you want to talk candy today.
(01:08:13):
I'm gonna mention this because it's necessary get your opinion
out there about Hendrick and I want to have a
candy story here. Okay.
Speaker 7 (01:08:20):
It's a disgrace too that he's like, isn't he the
son of one of the greatest men in pro football?
I mean, one of the forefi you know, one of
the forefathers of Paul Brown. I mean, and he's in
disgrace to this, you know, I don't know, it's it's
you know, fair time to be fair.
Speaker 3 (01:08:40):
Paul Brown wasn't exactly big with the money Coulid either,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:08:45):
I don't think any of them were back in the day,
you know, So I'm not gonna tell.
Speaker 9 (01:08:49):
But the thing about it is a lot of their problems,
not necessarily the price, but it's a lot of it.
A lot of their issues, both Hendrickson Sherman, you know,
the draft pick, all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:09:02):
The draft pick almost went back to college. So their
issue is not that. A lot of it is let's see,
it's guaranteed money, and it's it's guaranteed money.
Speaker 9 (01:09:14):
And well, as far as the draft pick, a lot
of his was the fact that he wanted to be
able to if he got arrested, he wouldn't lose his money.
Like even though to me, I'm with Mike Brown on
that one, if you're he's like, well, it's never going
to happen. Well, if you're bringing that up.
Speaker 1 (01:09:29):
It's gonna happens.
Speaker 9 (01:09:32):
The issue, so it's like, you're bringing that But what
I'm on Mike Brown's side. But the thing about it is,
if we can say this about Mike Brown, one of
the greatest white people of all time is Carl Brown.
Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
There's no question about it. But he was cheap too.
George House was cheap too. So a lot of those
guys were penny pinchers.
Speaker 1 (01:09:49):
Just from that day.
Speaker 4 (01:09:51):
Well, and the thing is is that, you know, you
call owners cheap. Someon would call him fiscally responsible, but
I have no sympathy for the guy since then right now,
because yeah, I mean, they need Hendreds. It's so bad.
I mean that that Bengals team has just been a
huge disappointment the last two years when you got an
all pro quarterback like you do. But yeah, Hendrickson, you
(01:10:12):
know the he how about I think as long as
he could and then the probably his agent said, well,
you know what, you better get your button camp, get
over there, help this team out. They'll work out the financials.
But Cincinnati, yeah, they've got a litany of bad management really.
Speaker 1 (01:10:33):
Quickly. Bengal's not going to forgive you with fifty grand
and buying. Maybe the other teams willle, but not down,
that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
Back to back years right in the last two years,
he's at twenty or nineteen sacks. It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
Yeah, that's a good player.
Speaker 4 (01:10:46):
Yeah, he's great.
Speaker 1 (01:10:48):
Yeah, anybody else have anything to say about Hendrickson or
Kettle or go ahead, Candy Well.
Speaker 8 (01:10:54):
Hendrickson missed the first seven days and five practices of camp,
accumulating three hundred and fifty thousand dollars in fines. He
also received a total of one hundred and four thousand,
seven hundred and sixty eight dollars in fines for not
attending the three days of Bengals mandatory mini camp in June.
He led the league with seventeen and a half sacks
(01:11:14):
last season, becoming the fourth player since sacks became an
official statistic in nineteen eighty two to have two straight
years with at least seventeen and a half sacks. His
fifty seven sacks since joining the Bengals in twenty twenty
one our third most in the NFL over the past
four seasons.
Speaker 1 (01:11:34):
So yeah, those are unbelievable numbers. All like to say
about it. I don't want to go all out too
much for the other things that we'll get to as
the Bengals need to pay this guy he deserves that.
Those numbers speak for themselves. All right. We're gonna stay
in New York though, And I know I'm making these
guys feel at home, aren't I A lot better than
the sticker shock that they got last week? And they
didn't know what they were getting into, but did really
(01:11:56):
dark good hating that test last week called their first show.
But this is a little bit easier for the dynamic
duel anyways, Giants legend Lawrence Taylor denied Abdul Carter's request
to where's number fifty six? All right, Tizzo, what do
you think about that?
Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
All right, this is right in my wheelhouse right here.
Speaker 7 (01:12:13):
I was okay last year was it They gave the
number one to the wide receiver, right, which was a joke.
You retire a number because you want to retire it
so it doesn't get used again. Okay, you're honoring that player,
so no, the numbers should not be used that And
then I love that LT said that. I'm not a
(01:12:34):
Giant fan.
Speaker 2 (01:12:35):
I hate the team, so I'm not, but I'm giving
LT one thousand percent credit.
Speaker 1 (01:12:40):
And I knew.
Speaker 7 (01:12:41):
I knew before it happened. I'm like, there's no way
LT is giving up fifty six. I mean, when you
think of fifty six, you think of LT, right. I mean,
it's as simple as that. He's not giving up that number.
That number is iconic.
Speaker 2 (01:12:54):
So that's good.
Speaker 7 (01:12:55):
I do not I the team itself should stop a
player before they even asked the player. They should say, listen, no,
the number is retired.
Speaker 2 (01:13:06):
For a reason. You're not getting it. I don't care
if the player says it, don't even bother talking to him.
Speaker 1 (01:13:12):
So thank you all. Thanks both for popping, and we
appreciate you have both of the real study here a
superstar and pizza. You'll get a chance of meeting up
with Bull at some point, hopefully comes on the Football
Show when he gets a chance. First of all, I
can tell you this my first Super Bowl that was
a town in Miami. I was actually at the announcement
when Taylor was selected to the Hall of Fame. So
(01:13:32):
Taylor is one of the time player and I'll just
say that number should never be warned, and I'm glad
he kept his position. Two pinions on the way do
you think candy?
Speaker 8 (01:13:42):
In sports, a retired number signifies the honor bestowed upon
a player by a team or in some cases, an
entire league, where the number is permanently taken out of
circulation and no longer issued to other players. It's a
way to recognize the player's significant contributions, career achievements, or
(01:14:07):
impact on the team, and it's considered a high honor.
The fact that guys are coming into the league that
have not proven anything and want to even ask to
wear a number that's retired is ridiculous. I'm sorry, it's ridiculous.
You have you've used that number maybe in college and
(01:14:29):
you did really well, but come on, change it. Go
into the league, get your own number and prove that
they should retire your number once you're done.
Speaker 9 (01:14:43):
Jacob let me tell you this, Candy, the Bears that
the Packers gonna over the years, are going to start
making a habit of giving those reserves back to you know,
those retired numbers back to the kids, because they both
have the most retired numbers in the league. And they're gonna,
and that's the big thing about it. They're gonna because
they're gonna, they're gonna run out of numbers to be
(01:15:05):
able to retire. Both teams will, and they're gonna start
giving them back in the first place. But here's the thing, though,
there's one thing of the obnoxiousness about the kids asking
for something like that. It's one thing with a ring
of famed guy and you're being nice or doing whatever.
It's another if it's Lawrence Taylor. Lawrence Taylor changed on
(01:15:26):
the outside of igbacker position milhig beckersition. Excuse me, he
changed it completely and utterly. It's like asking for thirty
three and them in Boston, right, It's like ask for
thirty three in Boston. After It's it's like someone who
changed the small horror position, someone who was one of
the greatest.
Speaker 3 (01:15:44):
Of all top five of all time. You don't, you
just don't. But it's there's an obnoxiousness.
Speaker 9 (01:15:50):
There's an obnoxiousness and an ego to people that you know,
we've seen him many times, don't since like the seventies,
sixties and seventies practically, but there used to be a
respect with it, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
But but we've gotten old enough now to where it's like,
it's not.
Speaker 9 (01:16:06):
Okay, that could be my dad, it's that could be
my grandpa. So they're kind of disrespecting the old people.
Speaker 3 (01:16:11):
So of course you don't do that. Of course you
don't do that. You don't give that back or whatever.
But I think the Bears in the package is going
to start doing.
Speaker 9 (01:16:18):
It, unfortunately, because they're gonna run out numbers to retire.
Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
In the first place.
Speaker 8 (01:16:22):
Green Bay has only officially retired six numbers, so it's
not as many as you think.
Speaker 9 (01:16:28):
Well, the Bears have retired a time, so that's what
I'm saying. That's gonna but between the two, it's like
between the two.
Speaker 7 (01:16:35):
The Bears, huh, fourteen numbers for the Bears. Yeah, so okay,
there's plenty of numbers left. I'm not worried about giving
numbers back, you know what. Let's be especially the Bears,
but are they going to retire a number anytime soon.
Speaker 2 (01:16:52):
I'm not gonna make fun, but.
Speaker 3 (01:16:54):
These rosters they're never They're definitely never going to retire eighteen.
Speaker 1 (01:17:01):
Williams give me.
Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
Right, exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:17:05):
Anytime soon, Chris, You know what, that was a good one.
I liked.
Speaker 2 (01:17:08):
I'm just saying I'm not and I'm not making a choke.
Speaker 1 (01:17:11):
You don't have to, but I will. Hey, listen, can
you let me ask you a question there, Pizza? Can
you take a compliment? Can you?
Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:17:19):
Or no? Yes?
Speaker 2 (01:17:21):
I don't get him that offense, Scott, All right.
Speaker 1 (01:17:25):
Listen to me. Listen to me, Peter, I'm asking you
a direct question. Okay. At the second time on this show,
I was on your so I'm getting to know you guys,
like get crazy brothers. Okay, can you take a compliment?
Yes or no? Yes? I can? Good, I get it
to you. Thank it can That's right, Thank you God,
(01:17:45):
thank there, mister Pizza man. Good stuff. I'm out of
this guy him laughing. Make sure I'll tell you, Make
sure you tell your people over in New York talk Land. Oh,
this guy is a New York MLB talk Land that
this guy, this says, asked me, can I take a compliment.
I don't get them off. And okay, what about you,
(01:18:05):
like gor, what do you think about oh Taylor.
Speaker 4 (01:18:09):
Well, I tell you what I think Lawrence is smart.
I really do. I'm not a I'm not in the
camp that says, oh yeah, you can have my number,
you know, after it you're retired. I don't believe in
that either. I mean, you know, you talk about situations,
and I don't want to bring up the Lions, but
they're chanzy like that. They've not had a lot of ceremonies,
(01:18:29):
if not retired, a lot of numbers. But one thing
I'll say is that, you know, yeah, you ask permission, but.
Speaker 2 (01:18:36):
Permission doesn't have to always be granted.
Speaker 1 (01:18:38):
So I'm glad LT said no.
Speaker 4 (01:18:40):
To be honest with you, I mean, you know, if
it's your own son, maybe there'd be something unique and different.
But even that, it doesn't happen very often. So way
to go, Eltie.
Speaker 1 (01:18:50):
I'm in his court, all right, mister Rob, mister Cruz
man makes them man.
Speaker 5 (01:18:59):
Did did anybody think that LT was gonna say, okay,
take my number? We're talking about l T all right?
His ego is bigger than you know, the Empire State Building.
There's no way that LT would ever say, yes, take
my number. And why would the kid even want LT's number.
(01:19:21):
Get make get your own number and make a name
for yourself and get that number retired.
Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
It's so stupid.
Speaker 3 (01:19:28):
It's just stupid.
Speaker 1 (01:19:32):
Just my New York tool here. They don't have to
come up some good lan higher, bigger, bigger than the
Empire State Building. I need to come up with that one.
I always say most people bigger than the Titanic because
I use it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:43):
I'd be afraid to ask LT for his number.
Speaker 3 (01:19:46):
About LT.
Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
You know kind of guy was.
Speaker 1 (01:19:50):
Yeah, if you run his Google reption sheet, you'll find
out why you would be afraid.
Speaker 2 (01:19:54):
Right, if you know what you know him better than me,
probably Scott.
Speaker 1 (01:19:59):
Some times I'd like to say Sam the true You know,
I'm the only guy on the word Tell that would
turn down Barry Bonds against soap by Champagne with the Marlins,
and I enjoyed every last second of it.
Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
He's the home run leader. You should always be talking
to that.
Speaker 1 (01:20:16):
No, he's as mister asterisk. You guys know what I
said on your show. You got the transcript. You guys
did a good job putting me on the spot of that.
Let me tell you, if you've ever go on these
guys show, it is an absolute treat me with these
two guys, they really are. You want to talk about
an operation that promotes my book better than these guys
(01:20:38):
find it. I don't know anybody that gone to the
levels that mister Pizza man here, mister take your own
kind of make your own kind of music, because you've
got a new name because of the street lift. The
head out of the bat went out promoting my book
and made me feel early at all. These guys are awesome.
If you're ever lucky enough to go on these guys show,
I'm gonna tell you something to me. Their show to
(01:20:58):
me is like driving. It's like driving in a Rolls Royce.
It is that damn good. If you're a guessing, you're
you're sitting in a penthouse. Brother, that's how good it was.
I'll be a promotional guy going forward here, mister Empire,
State Building or Jed Clapping living. But it's got money
and it's got all right. But that said, let's go
(01:21:21):
to my time, all right.
Speaker 9 (01:21:24):
I gotta I gotta ask him for a favor on this.
I'm losing you guys, little by little because we're having
a storm out here.
Speaker 2 (01:21:31):
Okay, so I need to do this and get out, all.
Speaker 1 (01:21:33):
Right, go ahead, Well yeah, I got okay, go ahead,
all right.
Speaker 9 (01:21:39):
Yeah, just letting everybody knows he had to have a Yeah,
Hull Cocain was my hero growing up. Okay, he was,
and I mean childhood. I mean it was an enormous
part of my childhood. But I gave my mourning over
a week, like the last week I did. It's like
the morning truly needs to be for the parent and
(01:22:01):
everything is all were morning is our childhoods.
Speaker 3 (01:22:04):
One of my favorites.
Speaker 9 (01:22:06):
One of my favorite pictures was one of my favorite
pictures was a little boy holding a holding a little
hul cochin. That thing with the Hulk rum walking off
the sunset one of my favorites. But now I'm going
to give a little lesson on something I was hearing
the earlier candy about Gary Danielson and retirement and indeed
(01:22:29):
and and everything, and you're completely correct on this, but
he also needs to keep going and energy in a
certain way, find something else to do. Because one of
the things about Hulk that he was able to continue
to do. And I'm saying this about Rick even when
I've done the comparison. Rick player too is keep going.
It's like, yeah, Hulk had twenty eight back surgeries, I
(01:22:50):
mean the back of neck surgeries over the years, just
ridiculous number. And yet he was walking towards to the end,
which a lot of us are in wheelchairs at one.
You know, I'm saying that was the thing. But the
main thing about living as long as you can is activity,
keep active, keep everything there.
Speaker 5 (01:23:12):
I don't I don't want to interrupt you, but I
want to tell you I have to tell you something
quick before you go about Hulk Hogan.
Speaker 6 (01:23:18):
Yeah, if you ho Hulk Hogan.
Speaker 5 (01:23:21):
My friend Gary was married to Hulk Hogan's niece, so
he was Uncle Terry. And when I was a teenager,
Uncle Terry used to give us tickets to go to
the Meadowlands to watch him wrestle and go into the
locker room.
Speaker 6 (01:23:36):
So to me, he was a good guy. I just
wanted to tell you that.
Speaker 3 (01:23:40):
Oh, absolutely absolutely.
Speaker 1 (01:23:42):
But this is what I see.
Speaker 9 (01:23:44):
I grew up with an older dad. I've said this
to McCay quite a few times. Fifty when I was
born and he went to his eighties.
Speaker 3 (01:23:50):
He had a good life, you.
Speaker 1 (01:23:51):
Know, what I mean.
Speaker 3 (01:23:52):
I was thirty one when he died. But it's like,
you want to know what the thing about it is.
Speaker 9 (01:23:56):
This guy was in his seventies, he was raising two
teenagers and seventy one Draisy, Two teenagers and a ten
year old, But you want to know with the thing
you want he was doing to do at the end,
he was opening a he was opening a bar across
Madison Square, Guard and opening a store near in Tennessee,
another store in Florida, and doing this wrestling company.
Speaker 1 (01:24:20):
Maybe at his.
Speaker 9 (01:24:21):
Age is a little group that probably shortens his life
a little bit, but he probably would have shortened his
life he just sat down in.
Speaker 3 (01:24:27):
The beach and die and just sat there and did nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:24:30):
Hey, Jacob, before you go, I want you to give
me one quick take on Shannon Sharp getting let go.
Speaker 3 (01:24:34):
I know that you're at it, Eli May taking his place.
I mean, it's like, is this kind of crazy right now?
Speaker 9 (01:24:42):
But it's like it's the only think about Shannon is
just be careful, be careful what you're doing, and he
refuses to. But the real thing I'm saying real fast
with the Hulk is keep moving in life. That's what
keeps you going.
Speaker 1 (01:24:57):
Longer. All right, Well, you know what, that's a great pundit. Pundit.
I appreciate you being on the show weekend and week
out showing up, So take care of yourself in Atlanta.
But next week, just so you know, it'll all be
on Atlanta NHL expansions. What we're you talking about, It'll
be one It will be a one topic show with
some non with a non sports topic. So Jacob, thanks
(01:25:18):
for being on weekend. Without you'd be safe in Atlanta. Okay,
my friend, thank you very much. All right, we'll continue,
thank you. All right. So what we're gonna do now
is we're going to go back to my town and
want to make sure he an opportunity to comment on
some key topics as so has everybody pretty much everybody
ready to move over to my town real quickly. I
think we've got everything up to speed so far. All right,
(01:25:42):
So I'm gonna lead off with this one. Get this,
don Trell Willis on July seven, two thousand and six,
HiT's a Grand Slam home run at Shay Stadium. Can
you imagine that? And of course, he was subsequently said
to the Detroit Tigers as they throw in for Miguel
with Miguel Cabrera as a salary dump. Just a little
(01:26:03):
piece of information there, so you know, now, George, I
don't know if you know about traffic updates in Detroit.
Only because of you, I would even dare to bring
this up. But just so you know, mister Ihorn, if
you're out that way, Coolidge Bridge Road over is six
ninety six and Old Park closes for repairs and it
will open up on August twenty third, it will be reopened.
(01:26:26):
So stay away from the right corn. I don't know
where you're working with, Stay away from there. I only
brought that up because it's on my town and it's
in your town. And I grew up in that Old
Park Southfield area. A Donshaw willis hitting at grand Land
Home Run in Stay Stadium. Yeah, and I got two
New Yorkers on this show, you know what, a World
Series two. By the way, he looked pretty good, but
(01:26:48):
when he went to Detroit, Jim Leelnd couldn't fix somebody.
We all know that. So and one thing I should
point out too about Etro Suzuki is he did get
his three thousand hitting with the Miami Marlins, and he
even know the Milins were when there. You talk about
a sense of humor and the fact that they should
have gotten Nana. That's a little fact alter alter as well.
So those are my two things. We've got. Dontrell lolls
(01:27:10):
in Kolad Road my town. Now we're gonna go to George.
Georgia is also a hit down.
Speaker 4 (01:27:15):
Go ahead, and George, well, this is just gonna be
a kudos, saying the Detroit Free Press, one of our
two newspapers, yes we still are two newspaper count in Detroit.
They just did a recent series which is just outstanding.
They look back on the last twenty five years, which
is the first twenty five years of the twenty first
(01:27:37):
century as we know, so from two thousand to twenty
twenty five. They took a look at all the athletes,
all of them from Tiger's Red Wings, Lions, Pistons, and
did an outstanding series. So kudos to the Free Press.
And then last Sunday they topped it off and Scott,
you're gonna love this with a look back on all
(01:27:58):
the stadiums that we know longer use in Detroit, and
of course many of you know those Tiger Stadium, Olympia Stadium,
Cobo Arena, the paddles, the Silver Dome, on and on.
So that was a real great, big spread in last
Sunday's Detrade Pree Pro Sports section. And I just want
to say thank you, thank you to the Free You're
(01:28:19):
doing a good job and you brought back a lot
of memories for a lot of us the last twenty
five years or going back further than that, of course,
with those stadiums that are no longer with us.
Speaker 1 (01:28:31):
That's my town. Well, if you're to rob.
Speaker 6 (01:28:35):
Now, does my town have to be sports or could
I switch it up a little?
Speaker 1 (01:28:39):
Ah? Do everyone? I don't care. You're going on a
cruse relaxed in my town.
Speaker 6 (01:28:45):
Okay, I'm in Statnam in New York. Right, something's going on.
Speaker 5 (01:28:51):
I'm seeing on Facebook where everybody is losing your dog
or their cat, and I want to know what's going
on in my town that every day I'm seeing twenty
dogs and twenty cats missing on the missing pet thing,
And why.
Speaker 6 (01:29:05):
Don't they have collars? Why don't they have name tags?
And what is going on in my town with all
these animals missing? I don't get it.
Speaker 5 (01:29:13):
And I just had to get that out because it's
been annoying me all day seeing all these lost animals.
Speaker 6 (01:29:18):
How come I don't get it?
Speaker 1 (01:29:21):
You know, Rob, I'm gonna tell it between you and
mister Pizza, who obviously has learned tonight the hard way
that when I ask you, do you know how to
take a compliment? I'll bet mister Pizza will know from
one he will know how to take a compliment, because
I give him bless me. And I love having both
of you, guys and Shelby, because you guys are just
a blass. But no, I enjoyed that you're you're talking
(01:29:42):
about pets, and that's you're to our heart. So I
enjoyed that. Hey, listen, how could I not let you
do that? I bring out two nons more topics of
like why would I not let you talk about dogs?
And man, can you take a compliment? Great stuff? I
know you can, thank you. I could take it. I
know you're good man. You guys are awesome baby. And
(01:30:02):
George is getting an ideal that when I find here, Georgie,
when you go on social media, go on Twitter, you
find stunts like these two guys. I got to teach
I corn a lot more ball I got when I
got two When I got two batman's. You guys aren't
a batman, Robin, You're just two batman That's really great Stough.
So all right, well, all right, mister Pizza, what's going
on in your talent?
Speaker 7 (01:30:24):
You know what, I'm gonna keep it to sports because
if we turn it around, we'll get into the ugly things.
Speaker 2 (01:30:29):
I don't like talking about ugly things. Let's just talk
about baseball. I'm gonna give Rob's team a little bit
of a shout out. They picked up hells Ley today.
Speaker 7 (01:30:38):
They got Rogers for the bullpen as well, Tyler Rodgers.
They got Soto for the bullpen. They're building themselves the
best bullpen in baseball. And we know in this day
and age, the bullpen is what's gonna beat is what
is gonna win you games.
Speaker 1 (01:30:53):
In the playoffs.
Speaker 7 (01:30:55):
Right the Yankees, we know one of all those championships
because we had the best bullpen at that time and
the best closer. Now you got you know the Mets
right now, I mean you got DZ and you got
Hellsley back to back in the eighth and ninth inning.
Speaker 2 (01:31:08):
I mean, no one's gonna be that.
Speaker 7 (01:31:10):
So if the Mets gotta lead, I think the Mets
are gonna you know, the Mets got a chance here
to run it right into the World Series and maybe
even win the World Series. I don't like to hear
that because I want in the World's years and I
don't want another Subway Series.
Speaker 2 (01:31:23):
I don't want to go through that again.
Speaker 7 (01:31:24):
I lost a lot of a lot of years off
my life in that World Series, even though my team
won in five games.
Speaker 2 (01:31:30):
I don't want to go through that again. So but anyway,
let'm gett after you and what's up with the Ennekeyes
make some moves. Let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:31:38):
I feel bad if a guy like you losing years
off of your life. Mine are going really quick. I
gotta worry about vocal courts surgery in a few for
five months. But that's okay, mister Pizza. You're good man.
You're adding years to my life by showing it up
and not a show with guys, So that's all right.
You'll be fine. Man. We'll just have a little Aaron
(01:31:58):
Rodgers and you just make sure you don't get me, okay.
Speaker 2 (01:32:02):
You what's that you can't say that name in the
no I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:32:07):
Not I'm in Florida. I could say it.
Speaker 2 (01:32:10):
We don't want to get in New York anymore.
Speaker 1 (01:32:13):
That's okay, I'm kidding with you. Yeah, all right, so
Strawberry Fields forever. No, I guess it's justin Fields. Just kidding.
I'm just trying to shout out to my singing, which
I'll never do again on this show anyway. And I'm
just surprised that Joshua Door and and that uh Cyberuski
and here to see me singing. These guys are on
every show, but they missed the pod on this one.
(01:32:34):
All right, go ahead, Candy, what's going on in your town?
Speaker 8 (01:32:39):
So I'm gonna start out with the town was near
and dear to my heart, Milwaukee. Kudos to Christian Yelich.
He scored his one thousand career run scored today. Kudos
to him because, let's face it, longevity is not necessarily
(01:33:00):
what we know of in today's game, but kudos to
him for that. And then I'm gonna say kudos to
the Miami Hurricanes. I love football, and today I got
to go down and be part of their media day
and watch their media day and watch my husband interview
(01:33:22):
different offensive players, defensive players, coaches. It was my first
time at this particular event. I've covered them for a
couple of years. But what a cool event to allow
us access to the different players and to be able
to ask him questions. And I would highly recommend anybody
(01:33:45):
that is a Hurricane fan. I will be putting up
all of those interviews on our YouTube channel. Watch for
them to come out and watch them. Because you know,
football is like my favorite sports, so this is my
time of year that I start really getting excited. I
love baseball too, you don't get me wrong, but baseball
is going on and football and the same time, and
(01:34:07):
it's just a great time of year and I'm excited.
Speaker 1 (01:34:09):
Well, I'm going to just go step further. Kudos to
you because you want ahead. After I got done talking
to the running backs coach for the Miami Hurricane, Candy,
I was waiting for Jason Taylor. Candy's asking them all
kinds of questions. And now she's gonna regret this because
I'm going to find a way to create a show
where she has to do a one on one and
I'm going to activate no limits for her just so
(01:34:30):
she does do it once in a while. So I'll
tell you, she just opened up a can of worms
that this girl is altfully good. You talk about two
people are working in the field. George, you see us together,
you know, we don't mess around, We don't act like
two people that are related. You know, Candy's done an
unbelievable job, not only what she does at the website,
but what she does here on the air. But this
(01:34:51):
girl showed me some one on one interview skills. And
everybody in your family's gonna think I brainwashed her. I
didn't brainwash this girl, but boy, she turned it out
off like god man. Great stuff to you. And also
one last couple of congratulations to David Wolf, former Jacksonville
Jaguars PR guy who went over to the Houston Rockets
and now as a PR guy for the Houston Texans.
(01:35:12):
And the last shout I'm going to give out here
before we go to partying shots will be to Cameron Gorby.
I have worked around a lot of great PR people
and this guy, to me, is one of the most
cooperative and he gives me all the room I need
to work with. I have tell you one thing, if
there's a class PR guy out there that gives me
(01:35:32):
the access, Cameron Gorby to me, Mercedes Rose Royce, choose
what you want. But this guy is class in every
sense of the world. And Jason Taylor is also a
class act to I enjoyed. He's a Hall of Fame person.
And I'll tell you one thing, he's a hec of
a coach. You see his name in coaching circles down.
He's happy with the Miami Hurricane. And well, that interview
(01:35:53):
will also be released in the coming daysers. So I
have four questions, but there were four strong ones. All right,
let's go parting shots, Okay, Chris lead.
Speaker 7 (01:36:03):
Off parting shots. Gotta be listen. The deadline's gonna be
tomorrow for the from Major League Baseball. Let's see what
teams are gonna do Detroit.
Speaker 2 (01:36:12):
I just it just popped up.
Speaker 7 (01:36:13):
They traded for Rafael Montero, former astro. Right, So that's
getting a little bit of a little bit of playoff experience,
actually World Series experience with him. So I think that
was a smart move. Let's see what happens now, I
mean tomorrow. I think there's still some big moves about
to happen. You know, you still got Luis Robert out there,
and maybe Cedric Mullins of the Orioles gonna be on
(01:36:37):
the move as well. So the Mets are looking for
a center field. The Yankees looking for pitching. So I'm
hoping they had a couple of arms. But you know what,
Detroit's been quiet somewhat, you know. I know they picked
up Montero and you mentioned a couple of guys, but
they haven't made that major move. I'm curious if they're
gonna go for it and make that major move. Maybe
Toronto does because they're in first place.
Speaker 2 (01:36:58):
So and the Dodgers.
Speaker 7 (01:37:00):
Uh oh Tani left his start today, he was you know,
he got hurt in one in the fourth inning, third inning.
So are they gonna go? Are they gonna look for somebody?
Even though they got a million people on the engine
list too. So I'm looking forward to the uh trade
deadline tomorrow to what.
Speaker 1 (01:37:15):
Happens show heyl timing. I still think at some point
pitching as the stopping. I agree they're riding it out
on Leave that for another eyebus. Since you brought it up,
I wanted to go ahead with it. Okay, Katie, what's
your parting shot?
Speaker 8 (01:37:28):
My parting shot is give me a second. I'm looking
for it because I had it and I just lost it.
My parting shot is kudos to Katie the ledeki she has.
If you look at her numbers, she the last fifteen
high scores in her field.
Speaker 3 (01:37:47):
She's the top.
Speaker 8 (01:37:48):
She has all of the top fifteen high high times
in her swimming event, So kudos to her.
Speaker 5 (01:37:55):
Okay, what's your parting shot about the same as Chris
said the trade deadline? Can't wait until tomorrow? The Mets
are going to make some more moves the Mets, And
I'm going to say it now.
Speaker 6 (01:38:08):
The Mets now have the.
Speaker 5 (01:38:09):
Best bullpen in Major League Baseball. And I don't care
what anybody says. The moves that David Stern's making right
now and it's going to continue. They're going to get
a big bat tomorrow and I'm happy. It's great and
I can't wait until tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (01:38:27):
Okay, George, what's your party shot?
Speaker 4 (01:38:29):
My parting shot is there are a lot of fans
complain about people with those pricey seats not showing up.
They look like empty chairs behind the home plate. The
Tigers finally redesigned their home played seating and have up
the ante for so much, but this week they rolled
(01:38:50):
out finally. Behind those seats is the private club that
the player that the seat holders of those premium seats
home play club. It gets to enjoy. So the project
is finally done. I know there's people out there that
don't like it, but come on, folks, that's the survival.
To run a major league team, you got to have
(01:39:11):
revenue drivers. And the Tigers are one of the last
to come to the plate. Pardon my pun. To build
these seats and to build that special dining area right
behind those seats, underneath the stands. That's my parting shot.
Speaker 1 (01:39:27):
Well, you know what I'm My parting shot is going
back at Shannon Sharp and I'll tell you why. Okay.
It is a sad commentary when a twenty year old
model who filed a fifty million dollar lawsuit against Shannon
Sharp says she's retiring after settling this particular lawsuit with
them and plans to be active on social media and
(01:39:47):
new projects. Shannon, are you picking stupid? Well, I wonder
what Skip Bayless is taking. Everybody had sympathy because you
could take the beating and Skip would lay on you.
Right then, Skip Bayles's say what you want about him.
He's a seventy year old guy with a strong opinion
and he knows how to get under your skin. But
this guy's a darn good writer. You may not have
(01:40:09):
to agree with him. But now Skip Bayless is looking
at his former partner, okay, settling a lawsuit let in
both sexual assault, rape or whatever you want to call it.
And everybody knows that this girl went out there, and
tell you one thing, she's a great business man. She
took him to the bank, and what else happened? ESPN
(01:40:30):
did made the worst kept seeker on the planet. They
let him go, but in retrospect they let him go
months ago anyways, So all I can tell you one
thing is Shane and sharp, good luck. If you're ever
getting a job anywhere else you are not doing it,
you talk about that stupid. I don't many I don't
know many words in Spanish, but once upon a time
(01:40:51):
I dated a Puerto Rican girl, and I know the
ideos and egos and all that business, but I never
when I heard the word used El stupid though that
I knew at the times, and I got in an
argument with her. She was referring that to me. So
on the half of my limited Spanish okay, which it
really is limited to el stoopidough and my cotton picking
bad singing, that won't ever appear in America. And I
(01:41:13):
don't you know what, Shannon, you're el stupid though. Let's
see fine mansors of your podcast, and you're not getting
employed and anywhere. Good reading, Shannon. And I'm wondering what
Skip Bayless is. And another thing I'll say about Skip
Bayless is that, Okay, he has his own podcast and
he's doing what I'm doing with my wife. Here, you've
(01:41:35):
got a podcast with his wife, Ernsteine, not bad done everything.
Minds I have one with my other half. I'll bet
he's having a good time and making good money. And today,
somewhere along the lines in Dallas, whether he likes the
Cowboys or not, whether he partial toward the Lakers, he's
looking at Shannon, how could you do it? How could
you do it? And Steven A. Smith nine? Is it?
Speaker 4 (01:41:58):
Know what?
Speaker 2 (01:42:00):
Threw away a lot?
Speaker 1 (01:42:02):
And you know, here's the thing too, we see a
guy like Shannon Sharp pull this stuff off. I still
disappointed that Trevor Bauer hasn't gotten another chance to play ball,
because you know one thing, in my opinion, he deserves
another opportunity, don't. But they had the guts to give
it to him. Period. Say what you want about him,
but I'll tell you what innocent till proving guilty. There
(01:42:23):
are individuals out there that will try to take you
to the bank and seize the opportunity. I'm not knocking women.
And also I want to make that very clear. If
there's a problem that happens against your discretion, report it
and take care of it. I get that. But when
you have a guy like that has a wealth of
money and you know that you're a target for such
(01:42:45):
a situation, and you put yourself in that situation, you
have to be heads up over it. And again I understand. Hey, listen,
nobody wants to see sexual assault. Nobody wants to see rape.
Once upon a time, Mike Tyson got thrown in jail
for rape. Rape is bad. You don't ever want a
mystery a woman. You just don't, Okay. But the bottom
line is is I'm going back to my man, Shannon,
(01:43:07):
my favorite whipping boy, and I at least I gon
got that night out from being my whipping boy. Shannon
sharp Ell, stupid old good riddance, and I don't want
to hear you or see you again. Period. Off to
our final station break. Will everybody know they get ahold
of them, great job tonight by Jacob Christner, as well
as everybody and my dynamic duo here and my two batman's.
(01:43:30):
These guys are unbelievable. So Candy, go out to one

You know what I'm gonna come back?
Speaker 1 (01:49:42):
Yeah, I got I know what I'm gonna do with you.
Pizza to me. You'll you'll be more versatile than some
of the Tigers guys on the field. We got all
these guys that could play all these millions of positions.
I think the most versatile guy. Who's the most versatile
guy that we had on There wasn't that rollmind. Andrew
roman played them all. I got news for you, my
(01:50:05):
guy here Pizza Batman, the two Cold Batman. Andrew Romano
was versatile. Let me tell you some pizza. You know
you'll be versatile. I'll have you all over the place.
All you can put you on the Country Club to
keep these guys. But I need you on these other
two shows. You've bringing so much of it. It is
not used to having counto but in there on me
long enough. I worry. I've always been a firm believer.
You got to give credit words due, and that said,
(01:50:26):
I'm going to give credit words due to all the
people in the chat room that went out there and
came in there and voiced their timely opinion much appreciated.
I'm going to give credit words due to everybody in
this group here, Jacob included for doing an excellent job.
And I'm going to give credit to the Miami Hurricanes.
That made my job easier, because to do thirteen interviews
in about seventy minutes wasn't too bad. My vocal course
(01:50:49):
manded to hand it. They weren't all very long, some
were short, some were long, and in the end. They're
all ended up on YouTube thanks to my talented other
app who does it is a jack of all trades
and master of well. But that's said. That does conclude
this edition of the Sports Are Change tonight. Hope you
enjoyed the program. Tomorrow night we have fire up and
we also have a four trap George and I'll be
(01:51:09):
