Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is ww Superstar Seth Freakin' Rollins, and you're listening
to sports guys talking wrestling.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
When they're not covering the sports world. They're talking about
the world or professional wrestling. It's sports guys talking wrestling.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Now here's Stu Myrick.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
It is sports guys talking wrestling. Stu Myrick here. Thank
you so much for joining me. A busy weekend in
WWE as they had worlds collide and money in the
Bank and then of course all the fallout that happened
Monday night on Raw, and to help me break it

(00:47):
all down, joining me on the hotline. He is the
managing editor for wrestles own dot com. Good friend, wonderful
frequent guests on this show. It is Bill Pritchard. Bill,
how are you man?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
I'm doing good, Glad to be back.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Let's start with Money in the Bank. That was Saturday night.
Give me your overall letter grade for Money in the Bank.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
B B plus strong B plus. Okay, I think I
might be under selling it.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, it was. It was one. I think it was
one of those cards that you know, I'd say at
least half the results were or probably just about all
the results were pretty expected. But it served its purpose.
So yeah, I get that. I get that. Let's start

(01:45):
with uh, let's start with what happened with the the
main event, Cody Rhodes and Jay Usso. Then the World
Heavyweight Champion taking on John Cena, the undisview w W
Champion and Logan Paul. It was. It was a match
back and forth. Sena is about to lower the boom

(02:09):
on Cody and then here comes this hooded figure, you know, cracks.
John Cena takes off the hood and it's our truth.
And so after a week of being you know, well,
the the of finance that his contract wasn't being renewed,
and the fans kept chanting and wrestlers kept tweeting and everything,

(02:34):
he's back. He is now using his real name of
Ron Killings. Let's start with Let's start with Ron Killings,
our truth, whatever we want to call him. Give me
your thoughts on everything that has happened regarding him in

(02:55):
the last seventy two hours.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
First, all say getting rid of him was a mistake.
I think they very quickly realized that. If I'm giving credit,
I'll give credit for them realizing they made a mistake
and going back and trying to make amends with him.
I'll give him credit for if you know all this,

(03:19):
the reports that you heard about him not taking their
calls and kind of having Nick con take the reins
to get to make things right. I'll credit him for
negotiating that way because he was wronged, and I appreciate
that he didn't just jump back in and be like, oh, okay,
like you know, we're good. Like clearly they're not. But

(03:44):
I'm very interested to see where they go with this,
because as good as our truth is as a comedic character,
this is kind of the guy I've been waiting to
see since I can't remember what year it was, but
Capital Punishment, like that year that he had the feud
with Sina I think it was twenty eleven. Yeah, he

(04:09):
showed like an edge then, and it was like, that's
kind of I say this like all the time, but
like that's what I want out of my wrestling, Like
I know that these guys are playing a role and
they're supposed to be funny, but at the same time,
it's like when the bell rings, they should be able
to handle themselves. Like you know the NFL saying any

(04:30):
team can win on any given Sunday, Right, I want
a little bit more out of that, or more more
of that out of guys like him, or you know,
I use the example of Santino at Elimination Chamber when
Daniel Bryan. You know, that was almost an upset that
one year. Nobody thought Santino was gonna win, but the
near falls in that match, it was just kind of like,

(04:53):
you want that believability. And I think this helps truth
or Ron Killings do that without completely you know, kind
of dumping on the art truth character. It feels like
sort of a natural evolution without without knocking what he did.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Before, right, And I'm totally with you. What I guess
floors me is that a lot of people forget and
yes this was early early, early early TNA, but he
is a former two time NWA World Savyweight champion and

(05:36):
he beat Ken Shamrock for that once. I mean, Ron
Killings is no is no slouch in the ring. So
you're right. As much as I enjoy our truth, yes,
now to see this side of it, and it sounds
like we're gonna get you know, we'll still get glimpses

(05:57):
of our truth, but I think we will now see
more of wrong Killings. And I'm I'm all for it.
I want to see where it goes. As far as
that match, you know, in the the Return of Wrong

(06:17):
Killings kind of overshadowed the simple fact Cody pinned Sena.
So if you if you, you know, take that little piece,
you kind of have to figure Okay, that's gonna set
up the eventual rematch from WrestleMania, where you know Cody's

(06:38):
going to face John Cenah.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
I think maybe they want that distraction right now if
you think about it, because John Cena is now facing
CM Punk and for the most part, the feedback is, oh,
I can't believe Punk is doing a match in Saudi Arabia,
But also I can't believe that match isn't happening at SummerSlam.
So I feel like truth running in during that match

(07:05):
makes sense because Sina kind of took credit for getting
him fired, so you know, there there is wiggle room there,
But it also gives them an out to delay Cody
versus Sena.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Yeah, a lot of people, including a lot of our colleagues.
I think they they kind of figure that them on
that rematch, Cody will regain the title. Are you in
that camp or do you? Or is it going to
be somebody else, because somebody's going to take that title

(07:40):
from Sena. He's not going to retire with it no
matter what he says.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Yeah, I don't think it should happen if it's if
SummerSlam is like the plan, I think it's too soon.
And part of me thinks it should be a newer
guy because Roman kind of did the favor for Cody
already and Cody's like a made guy now. I feel
like Sena could also do that and build another person

(08:06):
instead of just kind of, you know, increasing Cody's stock,
Like I don't I don't think Cody needs that right now. Like, yes,
it makes sense to get the win back, but I
kind of want to see him, you know, not like
a relatively unknown but I'm sure there's somebody coming up

(08:29):
that would really benefit from that. Like obviously it didn't
play out like that, but i'd say Jay Uso if
he was in that position, like the same way that
he won it WrestleMania.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think I kind of I kind
of agree with that. I you know, I I don't
think it would be that bad of a thing if
Cody wins. But you're right, I think giving you know,
a younger guy or a you know, someone that's not
in the main event picture right at this moment. Give

(09:03):
them that boost. Yeah, that makes that makes sense?

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Like what about I'll throw this out here, like what
about l A. Knight? Like he seems like somebody people
are behind you could build to it and he's kind
of like up there in the world title picture or
you would say he's ready for it rather than somebody

(09:28):
that just got called up like last year or something like.
I would say, like a guy like La.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Knight maybe, Yeah, I like that. I'd like that that
could be. That could happen. Naomi and Seth Rolins winning
the money in the bank ladder matches, so they've got
the briefcases. I will be honest, I had I don't
know why, but I kind of thought Seth Mike might
have cashed in last night, but he didn't. We've it's it.

(10:04):
I would think it's a pretty solid bet that when
both of them cash in, whenever it is, they will
both win their their respective world titles. Let me ask
you if if we were to look at and we

(10:25):
you know, jay Us lost the World Heavyweight Championship Goo
thro on raw, So who does Seth Rawlins cash in
on goother or John Cena or is it if one
of those guys drops the title to somebody else.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
I mean, after this week, especially last night, the way
I kind of was thinking is, and this is all
based on the Goldberg rumors, I could totally see them
trying to pull Rollin's cashing in at Saturday Night's main
event on like maybe there's not even a title change

(11:09):
in that match, but like I could see Goldberg like
being right there and you know, getting ready to like
get the pin, and then Rowlins runs in and you know,
hits a stomp on the briefcase or something like that,
whether whether he pins gnther or not, Like, I think
that would make a little bit more sense. But then again,

(11:31):
you don't know if Goldberg wants that as his final match.
I think there's gonna be a little.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Bit more.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Finality surrounding it. So but I think I agree with
your with your first point that both of them are
probably gonna win the title whenever they do cash in.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Yeah, let me, let's let's talk about Naomi. Who who
does she cash in on it? I guess it would
either be EO. Sky or Tiffany Stratton or is it
or is it? Is it like what we were talking about
with the man. Somebody wins the title, then then Naomi

(12:13):
cash is in almost immediately.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
I think, I think if if I look at the
men's and women's side of things, I think I'm more
confident in that sort of cash in happening with Naomi,
And I think it's kind of with looking at the
Queen of the Ring tournament. I can absolutely see Jade
winning that, you know, if you want to look at

(12:39):
it this way, like Jade looks like a queen. She
could have that title for however long they do. I
think it's like a year would look good in a crown.
And then if she gets a Summer Slam title match,
Naomi runs in and ruins it. For I am more
confident in that than anything that Rowlins might do with
his cash in.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
That would make sense since they've got the the ongoing
rivalry Naomi and Jade. So yeah, Jade versus I guess
it would be Tiffany at SummerSlam going through the match,
it's getting late in the match and then here comes
Naomi to cash she in and she ends up winning.

(13:21):
So uh. Becky Lynch defeating Lyra Valkuria to to win
the Women's Intercontinental Championship. Was that the right move?

Speaker 1 (13:34):
I think so? It kind of puts Lyra in that
babyface chasing the heel champion position, and I feel, I
don't want to say it was super obvious, but like,
once you attach that never challenging for the title again stipulation, yeah,

(13:55):
it kind of feels like it's a foregone conclusion.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
Exactly.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
I can't think of the last time that WWE specifically
paid that paid that off because uh again, I can't
remember what year, But like Dolph Ziggler and the Miz
had that like career threatening match and Ziggler still won,
and I thought that was totally the wrong move. They
could have had him like disappear for a while and

(14:23):
you know, figure out a way to bring him back.
Blah blah blah. But like, I feel like the only
the biggest one that actually stuck was Cody and aew
not challenging for the world title. Yeah, and he even said,
or somebody even said, but I believe it was him afterwards,
that stipulation kind of became an albatross after a while.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Yeah, I think it was him. Actually, I think he
said in an interview, he talked about how that was
a that was probably a bad move on his part.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
So yeah, I still respect them doing it.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
Hey, you know, you know it's kind of one of
those you know you don't want, you don't want, the
kind of like Jeff Jarrett booking himself in Tenna to
win the world title. So uh, then we had this
impromptu match that came out of World's Collide Dominant Mysterio

(15:15):
Octagon Junior from Triple A Dominic wins to retain the
Intercontinent title. And the first thing I say is why
why did we have to have that match? Because it
I don't think anybody expected Octagon Junior to walk out
with the Icy title. The card with four matches I

(15:39):
think was a perfect fit. So it's kind of like,
why do this match?

Speaker 1 (15:45):
I liked it. I'm gonna disagree. I liked it because
it's domb I feel like anytime you get the chance
to feature him, you know people are gonna be happy.
It's it's very entertaining. I felt that this card needed
more than four matches. Like I understand that this is
like almost like the formula now outside of like WrestleMania,

(16:11):
but I feel like every card this year and last year,
every single one of them could have benefited from another
match because there's so much downtime in between each match,
Like the commercials at home are one thing, but like
just the live event experience, it's too much downtime for me.

(16:33):
So I agree with you. I didn't expect them to win,
but at least it's in ring action instead of another
hype package. And I saw somewhere that they trademarked King
of the Luchadors, and he used that phrase on one
of his Instagram posts. So I think maybe that you know,
it's sort of like a slow build storyline that they're

(16:56):
going for, maybe building back up to Ray's return. I
don't know, but that that would seem logical. Yeah, but
I I was totally fine with a match like this.
At least it had, you know, somebody entertaining, and it
wasn't just kind of like thrown on there because like,

(17:17):
you know, no no offense to him like they used
to do that with Rye back a lot. Yeah, and
it was like there there was no stakes to it
besides just showing off how strong he was. At least
this was dom it's entertaining. Plus they could hype the
Triple A alliance and give those guys a junior, you know,

(17:39):
give him, give him a little love and be like, hey,
go check him out. He was at World's Collide, or
go check out what Triple A is doing.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Like yeah, yeah, give them some visibility. I get that.
Speaking of World's Collide, it was it was, I mean,
it was a good show. You know. You had the
Kingo retain the Triple A make a Championship or Jack
Gable Legato del Fantasma gets the win over Elheil to

(18:07):
Doctor Wagner junior cycle clown Pagano. You had the trio
from Triple A, Aerostar Mister Guana Octagon Jr. Defeating Cruz
del Toro and Dragon Lead from l WO along with
Lindsay Dorado, which that was that was a you know,
that was a sub for Walking Wild because he apparently
get he got a concussion. I think Stephanievacer Loolo Weis

(18:31):
getting the win over Dollis and Chico Domenta, and then
Ethan Page retaining the NIXT North American title over Ray Phoenix,
Javon Evans and Triple A is the Laredo kid from
what you know, you got you guys do a really

(18:52):
good job following this stuff and getting finding out the
feeling Annie was, I mean, is is this just a
was this just a slam dunk? You know, this was
a good card and it gave visibility to the Triple A. Folks,
did you hear any type of negative Have you heard

(19:13):
any type of negative feedback on World's Clude now?

Speaker 1 (19:18):
I I feel like it. You know, for the most part,
everybody says it's a good showcase of Triple A talent.
The WWE talent were used in a in an appropriate manner,
Like you know, Stephanie Va Kerr still has that I
guess crossover appeal, if that's the right way to put it.
But like, uh, Chad Gable, like you know, he's a

(19:43):
he's a great wrestler. I think you know he he
kind of reinforced why WWE values him. Same for Ethan Page.
Uh and like you said, uh, Joaquin Wilde was out
of the six man match, but uh, it was cool
to see Lindsay Dorato getting a shot again. I know

(20:06):
he did a taping. I think it was for Evolve
like two weeks ago or three weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, you're like so so.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Getting him back in the fold. Uh. I'm excited to
see what they do with it. I hope this this
is a good vision of of what they're going to
do in the future, because I think I think after WrestleMania,
a lot of people were worried that Triple A is
going to become too much like WWE sports entertainment side

(20:37):
of it. But I think this was a good balance
of it.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
True. And I think, you know, the the historical patches
they put put together and shown they showed on the
on the broadcast, it kind of showed Triple A kind
of in a light of they flashier more, you know,

(21:03):
uh more storytelling that type of thing, you know, trying
you know, of course they didn't use they didn't mention CMLL,
but I think they're trying to, you know, show the
contrast between them and CMLL kind of like it felt
a little like what the n the WWF was, as

(21:26):
opposed to say Crockett, where it was flash heer, more,
you know, colorful characters, all that good stuff. So a
couple of things that happened last night on Raw. We
mentioned cm PUNK challenging John Cena for the ww title
at Night of Champions June twenty eighth in Saudi Arabia.

(21:50):
It's I you know, I think it's a safe bet
seem Punk's not coming out of there with the title.
But I will ask this. So there has been a
lot of chit chat about the possibility of having John Sena.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Have this.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Crisis of conscience for lack of a better term, and you know,
because I think it's you know, I think most people
expect John Sena is going to term babyface because you're
not gonna have him retire as a heel, because you
just don't do that. I and I keep I keep

(22:35):
pulling up Hiroshitana Hashi in New Japan. He's still one
of the most popular stars in New Japan and he's
gonna be that way through this retirement tour that he's
he's doing right now. So does so Punk Sena. This

(22:56):
is a callback to you know, the summer of Punk
and Punk winning the title and you know, going off
for a bit and all that good stuff and everything.
Could you see this match inside the Arabia as being
kind of the shall we say spark to make that happen.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
Yeah, I don't think this is going to be a
one off at least I hope not, because there's too
much history between these two to just kind of have
it be like a three week thing. I think, you know,
I mentioned earlier a lot of people were feeling like
this would be good for Summer slammh I feel like

(23:46):
part of me wants to say that they they there's
some way that they switched this match and it doesn't
even happen at Night of Champions. But then there's the
other side of me thinks they're still going to have
a match and this is just part one of the
story that, like you said, Summer a Punk kind of
carries through Summer Slam, maybe even goes to I can't

(24:12):
remember what this what pay per view they moved?

Speaker 2 (24:16):
Oh man, you talk about after Summer Slam.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
Yeah, because they switched things around and that was like
a big deal.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
But yeah, I think, no, they just had backlatch.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
No. I don't want to say money in the bank
because that's twenty twenty six. But I definitely think this
is like there's just it's going to be a part
one and I think they'll meet hopefully at SummerSlam, but
I think this is definitely going to continue through the show.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Yeah, we had the start of the King and Queen
of the Ring tournaments rock Sande Perez and Sammy.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Zaane a clash in Paris.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
Yes, I think you're right. Uh So Roxan Perez Zami
Zayn both qualify for King and Queen in the Ring.
Let's I mean, and they they've still got a few
matches to go, but let's just let's play, let's play
a little fantasy booking. Do you see either one of

(25:20):
those even having a chance at winning their respective tournament? Yeah,
we talked. We talked earlier about Jade, but feels like
Roxane Perez might have a shot.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
I was gonna say, if if the Jade Naomi story
doesn't play out that way, I could see them giving my, uh,
Roxanne a chance at building her name. Like she's had
a really good, if you want to call it her
rookie year, like you know, royal rumble. She's been on

(25:59):
a on a few main roster shows this year. They
clearly see her as somebody as the future. Uh. I mean,
I could see Naomi kind of screwing over Jade in
this first round match or against Roxanne. I still feel
like Naomi and Jade that is going to continue. That's

(26:22):
kind of gonna be what happens, but I definitely could
see Roxanne winning the whole thing. They clearly believe in
her a lot.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
So now to mention, I think there's got to be
some sort of, you know, because they've been teasing this
whole you know, strife within Judgment Day with Roxanne and
Live Morgan and Dominic and it's Finn Ballard trying to
just stir the pod and all that good stuff. So

(26:52):
there's gotta be something because they can't, you know, they've
been they've been teasing the breakup of Atown down Under
for the last three years. So but I got a
feeling that Rock Sande is going to probably have a
little more accelerated effect on Judgment Day. What do you think?

Speaker 1 (27:14):
I think? So it feels like as as much as
we've been predicting Atowndown unders Demise, I feel like we've
been kind of waiting for Judgment Days And I can't
remember who posted it, but it was like, if you
count since Edge Adam Copeland's been in it, it's like

(27:34):
almost four years or something like that that the group's
been around. Like it's kind of crazy to think about.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Wow, that is crazy. It is really crazy. So one
of the little notes. Former AEW Women's World Champion Mariah
May made her appearance on NXT last week. What is
it going to mean to see the glamor he uh

(28:02):
in n x T for the in the in the
weeks and months to come.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
I think it's a great addition. I liked her work
in a e W. I knew a little bit about
her before that, just you know, seeing like random indie
matches here and there. But like I keep seeing people
point out like WWE has always been her dreams. She

(28:27):
made it no no secret that she's a WWE fan,
So you know, congratulations to her for realizing her dream.
And I think people are, you know, they're gonna get
a chance to see what she's been about, what kind
of what we saw in ae W. It was a
really really good final story with Tony Storm, and I think,

(28:51):
you know, give give her some opportunities and maybe even
build the division around her for now because Roxannsley, Jordan
Grace just got their uh, Stephanie Vucker and Julia you know,
they're they're obviously moving on, so I think there's room
for for Mariah to kind of be the centerpiece.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
Yeah, I think, yeah, you're right. You mentioned you know. Yeah,
they just had three of their big names make it
up to the to the main roster. It's expected Jordan Grace,
it's probably not not to you know, probably following soon.
So yeah, that's a Mariah is going to be a
good kind of restocking the roster there. So gonna step

(29:34):
aside for a moment. When Bill and I come back,
we will talk a little aew, including how they will
be affected by this Warner Brothers Discovery split. That's coming
up next on Sports Guys Talking Wrestling Saluentations. This is

(30:03):
Jolson Castle and you're listening just Sports Guys Talking Wrestling.
Back here on Sports Guys Talking Wrestling, Stu Myrik, Bill
Pritchard from Wrestle's Own joins me. Let's switch gears talk
a little aew. I want us talk. Let's start with

(30:25):
the story that broke yesterday. This was and I'm gonna
read this straight from Warner Brothers Discovery. Warner Brothers Discovery
today announced plants separate the company into two publicly traded companies,
enabling each to maximize its potential. The streaming and studios
company will consist of Warner Brothers Television Warner Brothers Motion

(30:46):
Picture Group, DC Studios, HBO and HBO Max, as well
as their legendary film and television libraries. Global networks will
include premium entertainment, sports and news television brands around the world,
including CNN T in T Sports in the United States
and Discovery Top free to air channels across Europe, and
digital products such as the profitable Discovery Plus streaming service

(31:09):
and Bleach Report. So we've seen this in the industry already.
Comcast is splitting off their cable networks. So now it's
gonna be They're gonna have two separate companies, the streaming
and then the television folks. From I know, it's really

(31:33):
early and at least in the short term, AEW should
not be affected, But what could this mean long term?
They are still you know, they are in the earth,
still in the early stages of their new TV deal
with Warner Brothers Discovery. What could this mean for AEW

(31:57):
going forward with you know being I guess part of
I guess it would be the Global networked brand, although
yes they're streaming on Max. But just give me your thoughts.
What if you heard anything that that could be that
could ship any type of light on this.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
I kind of know what you do, And I don't
really see it having a major effect on AW at all.
If anything, when it happens, maybe they maybe they invest
more in AW, But I don't really see it having
a major effect. The only thing I've really heard about

(32:39):
aw's TV schedule changing is people would really like to
see Collision move to a weekday, maybe Thursdays. I mean,
personally speaking, I would like that too.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Okay, Well, and that's and that it kind of goes
into the next point I was going to make, because
so we have had you know, last week had fighter Fest,
this week Summer Blockbuss. Serious, so back to back four
hour windows of AEW television on TBS on Wednesday night,

(33:12):
Like I said, Tomorrow night, Summer Blockbuster, if they were
going to move Collision, And look, they're they're trying to
fill the void from losing the NBA rights to NBC
and NBC Universal. So I get that, and they still
got a pretty good, pretty robust sports package with their
you know, doing NASCAR. They've got a piece of the

(33:34):
college football playoffs sublet basically subletting it from ESPN and everything.
But they you know, for weekly television, and they've got
the NHL as well. But for weekly television, they've got
aw so they want to maximize it. You tell me,
and you just mentioned it, so you tell me why

(33:55):
it would make It would make sense for them to
put Collision on let's say Thursday night, right after you
have Dynamite on WEDNESDA Night.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
If they actually keep the show separately, I feel like
they could make two distinctly different shows, and I think
they'd have a bigger audience on Thursdays. Like, yes, you
have to worry about NFL on Prime, but there's a
lot of stuff you have to worry about the weekend.

(34:26):
You might not get preempted as much not having to
worry about the NBA. Plus, you know, taping wise, it
makes sense. Why wouldn't you go live instead of running
a tape show that you're gonna have lower viewership because
of spoilers. I think there's a few reasons why you

(34:48):
have to at least make a strong consideration for it.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
True, let me ask you about I mean, there's been
the talk like there were you know, for the longest time,
so SmackDown for instances is three hours. There was talk
that they were going to go back to two hours.
Well apparently now that's not happening. It's you know, they're
going to stay three hours. Aw's running four hours on

(35:12):
a Wednesday night. Do you see a possibility of him
staying with that? Because like you, like you just mentioned taping,
you know, taping collision just to you know, you know,
have it spoiled and everything. Could you see them running
let's just run four hours, uh, every Wednesday night on TBS.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
I hope not. I mean I could see it, but
I think it would get really old after a while.
I mean, look look at how people can still complain
about three hour raws, even though we're kind of out
of that now with Netflix. But now it's people complain
about three hour smackdowns. Like it. It's a lot different
sitting there for a television show compared to a pay

(35:58):
per view. The stakes are a little higher on a
pay per view. So I watched last week and it
was still a bit long of a show, even though
I mean it was entertaining. It's just I don't want it.
I don't want it to become a regular thing.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
Yeah, I'm with you. It was You're right because watching
you know, I mean even now, like I said, watching
smack Down three hours, Yeah, you just get tired. And
then so now you're trying to do these four hour
specials and they don't have they don't have enough, you know,
they don't announce enough. They try to fill it with

(36:37):
these other segments, and it's just I would rather just
keep them, you know, separate shows, separate nights, make them concise.
I get it. So, uh, let's talk a little bit
about summer. Blockbuster is supposed to be tomorrow night, apm
MES from seven pm Central on TVs and Max. The

(36:59):
probably the big news, the big thing. We were gonna
have the contract siding. They did make it official. Kenny
Omega the International Champion versus Kazuko Okada the Continental Champion,
both titles on the line, the you know, renewal of
this rivalry that a lot of people would say put

(37:22):
on the greatest matches in wrestling history. Give me your
thoughts on the On the prospect of seeing Omega Okada
at all lean in Arlington.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
I think it's a good match. I think it kind
of gives you a match that aw fans. And I'm
saying this like kind of loosely, but like it's one
they haven't seen before. Even though it's happened in Japan,
but like, I think it's still a fresh matchup. I

(37:56):
was just kind of and this kind of plays into
the the four hour broadcasts, like I should have known better.
But like last week when they were hyping the big announcement,
I was thinking it was I was thinking maybe, like
they're gonna announce Collisions going to Thursdays. I was thinking
all different things. I thought, as much as they hype that,
like just announcing that it's going to take place at

(38:18):
all in was a little bit of a disappointment, But
I think that's also fatigue setting in after watching a
four hour wrestling show. But other than that, I think
there's you know, they could really play off the history
between the two and maybe this is wishful thinking. I don't.
I don't know if this is the plan, but maybe

(38:41):
merge the titles.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
I think that's been That's been a lot of the talk,
was they were going to just you know, they will
finally consolidate these two titles into one, And yeah, I'm
with you. I hope that's the case, because you know, we,
I think all of us have been saying they have
too many titles in ae W, so this'd be one
way to at least, you know, consolidate you know, two

(39:06):
of them into one. Uh, the other big one will
Ospray taking on Swerve Strickland. So they're doing this this
thing where you know, Hangman outing Page has got the
world title shot it all in. Ospray is trying to
be the you know, good soldier, you know teammate e

(39:27):
W battled the death Riders all that good stuff, and
Swerve meanwhile, it is being the I'm not helping Hangman,
I don't care, I don't care what, and they've turned
this into a rivalry. It it seemed on the surface,

(39:50):
it seems okay, that's fine, except for the fact that
you had the moment with Hangman and Swerve I don't know,
weeks ago where Hangman is, you know, admits to something
or he says something and Swerve goes I know, and

(40:12):
it was kind of like that moment of Okay, they've
acknowledged each other. Okay, I get that. Uh, just give
me your thoughts on this, this match that's gonna happen
tomorrow night. What do you what do you want to

(40:33):
see as the outcome? What do you think we'll see
as the outcome?

Speaker 1 (40:41):
I think the whole thing is based on Hangman's redemption.
I think there's still a lot that can be done to,
you know, sort of pay that off, because like you said,
there was what he it was something about him burning

(41:02):
down the house and he you know, he was like
he said something like out of turn and swear like
yell back, like I know, yeah, And it felt like
that was the turning point. But then they kind of
backed off on it. So I don't know, I like,
I don't necessarily need to see them like team up

(41:23):
and win the tag team titles. I think that's like
too cliche. But I think maybe maybe a handshake tomorrow,
like just kind of like not a truce, but maybe
an understanding, like some some sort of acknowledgment, whether it's
like a slow nod or a handshake something like that.

(41:46):
I think, I think that's what I want, and I
think that's maybe what will happen.

Speaker 2 (41:52):
I mean, I can't and I'm kind with you, I'm
hoping that's kind of what they go with, because I
think what they need, you know, I think the story
that that should be built on this heading into all
In is basically everybody against Moxley and the death writers.
They've had this. You know, they've run rough shot, they've

(42:15):
you know, disrupted, aw, they're doing whatever all the stuff,
and it's you know, it's been a it's been just
you know, just you know, plowing through them. And so
it's let's bring everybody together to combat the death writers
and and that. So I'm with you some good matches.

(42:38):
It'll be it'll be interesting, Mistico. They're gonna miss go
from CMLL in action. We'll see, we'll see Tecla taking
on Queen Amanada. All all good show. Uh, Before I
let you go, I want to ask you. He's one
of my favorites. So Ring of Honor. They had the
vignette houting the return of the Man of from Planet

(43:04):
Peacock Dalton Castle. Give me your your favorite Dalton Castle moment?
And what will Dalton Castle mean returning to Ring of Honor.

Speaker 1 (43:17):
I think it's a great move. I love the promo,
like it it very clearly like you could tell it
was CGI And but I think it kind of fits
into his character, like there's a cheesiness to it. First
favorite moment, I mean I kind of like I kind

(43:38):
of enjoyed his his Ring of Honor world title run.
But uh, I'm going to cop out and say his
entrance is always my favorite. Just there's something about it
like I'm radio radio Gaga, like I'm a queen guy.

Speaker 2 (43:53):
So yeah, I'm with you. Now. I will say I
wish that, you know, Brenton Brandon were still there as
the boys, because having these other boys it's fine, but
you miss Brenton Brandon doing the chirps and the you know,
high screeches and they just it just fit. So but yeah,

(44:17):
his entrances, I would I would, you know, I'd easily
say his terances were among the greatest in Ring of
Honor history and among the greatest in wrestling at that time.
I mean, there was, it was. It was a moment
to behold for sure. So he is Bill uh, Bill
Pritchard catch all of his stuff wrestle Zone dot com. Bill,

(44:41):
I appreciate everything, man. All the best to you and
uh uh we'll talk again soon.

Speaker 1 (44:48):
All right, sounds good, Thanks for having me on again.

Speaker 2 (44:51):
Always good chat with Bill Pritchard from Wrestle's own. Some
good stuff. By the way, I've got n XT on
the television here in the studio. They just showed the
vignette of Mariah May the Glamour, but it is no
longer Mariah May. It is now Blake Monroe, which and

(45:14):
Bill and I were chatting after we recorded that felt
like he had Blake Lively in mind. I had Marilyn
Monroe in my mind, so maybe it was a combination
of the two, and so that's why we're gonna so
Maria May now Blake Monroe and we will see what
she can do in NXT. Great vignette with her coming

(45:36):
out of the tub, which Okay, that was m m yeah,
that was good. So I'm gonna take quick time out.

(47:59):
home for for their content in their personal release touting
this is the quote biggest first run television deal end
quote for the promotion in over twenty five years. Quote
from Billy Corgan quote. When I purchased the National Wrestling
Alliance in twenty seventeen, it was understood we were inheriting

(48:20):
the history and legacy of the most story brand in
all combat sports. So to ann now today we have
partnered with the number one TV streaming platform in North
America is indeed a moment to be proud of. I

So now they're going to be on the Roku channel,
which is growing as a streaming platform. Rich Eisen from
NFL Network, he of course, he does a week a
daily radio show and he streams his show on the

Rogue channel. So it is a it is definitely a big,
a growing platform. So couda congratulations Billy Corgan and everybody
in the NWA. Of course, good friend Tim Storm and
James Beard, who are heavily involved in the NWA. In fact,
of course, Tim Beard or excuse me, James Beard heavily

former world champion. You Got Yoda Sushi defending the IWGP
Global Championship against Gabe Kid. Of course, Gabe Kid been
making his presence felt on AEW television here of late
Kenoski Takeshta from the don Kallis Family defending the never

(51:00):
tag team titles, Great o'conn and Callum Newman facing defending
at Tomoyrhi and Tai chih You Got Yo and Master
Wato defending the is w g P Junior Heavyweight tag
team titles against Show and Yoshinobu Kanamara. That should be
a big one, kind of renewing that rivalry between Yo

k A dog collar match David Finley and Evil. You
know those dog color matches are gonna be It's gonna
be bloody, It's gonna be brutal, you know. Of course,
I think of the first one I think of, of course,

(51:43):
one of the first ones, Roddy Piper, Greg the Hammer,
Valentine Starkad eighty three. Of course, most more recently ft
R and the Briscoes in Fall was the last one
