Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's up, guys and girls. This is the Murderhawk Monster
Lance Archer.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
And you're listening to sports guys talking wrestling.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Pay attention or I'm coming after you.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
When they're not covering the sports world. They're talking about
the world or professional wrestling.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
It's sports guys talking wrestling.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Now here's Stu Myrick. It is sports guys talking wrestling.
Stup Myrick here, thank you so much for joining me
on this Wednesday night. Is ae W Grand Slam Mexico
on the air right now. In fact, it's MJF versus Mystico.

(00:41):
We've had several MJF just just low blowed Mystico right
in front of the ref's face. Got you got himself disqualified.
Now I'm shoving damn it. Don't do that to Bryce Rensburg.
We like Bryce. If that is he's real. As Jim
Ross would say, I hope Jim Ross is doing well.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Now.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
MJF just putting the beat down. And here comes the
rest of the Hurt Syndicate because they hurt people. As
I mentioned, Grand Slam Mexico happening at Arena Mexico, the
home of CMLL as they've been called the Cathedral of
Lucha Libre some interesting stuff. We've already seen a fourteen

(01:29):
man tag team match. We're also going to see a
ten man tag. Oh oh, he removed the mask, I
mean did he? It wasn't even a he just yanked
it off. MJB just yanked Mystico's mask off. Of course
he got to hide his face, and now he put

(01:53):
it on himself and is giving everybody the bird. And
here come a bunch of luchadors. Somebody's behind him. Who
is it? Oh it's Speedball, Oh it's Speedball and Jet

(02:15):
Jet Speed Speedball Mike Bailey and the Jet Kevin Knight
taking out Hurt Syndicate, including MJF. Sounds like Bailey and
Knight want to shot at the tag titles, so we'll

(02:38):
see if that happens. Here come the Luchadors from CMLL,
along with Bandido, the current Ring of Honor World Champion.
So as I mentioned, so Grand Slam tonight, we've got
a ten man tag. It's death Writer Sir John Moxley,

(03:00):
Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuda alongside the Young Bucks taking
on Swerve Strickland, Will Osprey and the Ops, the current
aw World trios champions. This stems from the attack Bucks
put those you know, those swerve shoes with the thumbtacks

(03:23):
on their feet. They were gonna kick Swerve, but will
Osprey got in the way took the bullet for him,
so now it's swerving, Swerving Osprey together.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
On.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
They put the bass back on Mistico. That's good, so
we'll get that one. We've also got the four million
pesos high flying four way match coming up. It's gonna
be Ricochet, Hologram, Leah Rush and MOSCAA data from CMLL.

(03:55):
I guess the winner gets four million pesos. Now I
got to see how much four million pesos is in
four million pasos to US dollars two hundred nine and
sixty four dollars. That's chunk change. So yeah, that's happening.

(04:23):
So last week they did the contract signing Canny Omega,
the current international champion, Kazutko Okada, the current continental champion.
By the way they showed they were getting it. It
will be a new title, so the titles we combined.
It'll be the AEW Unified Championship. Nice belt. They actually

(04:46):
have the side plates. One side is Canny Omega given
the one wing Angel the other side, Okata given the
rain Maker, nice little tribute. I get it. So they had,
you know, they showed the package, the history of the rivalry,
the you know, the last time they fought was New

(05:07):
Japan Dominion. I think it was twenty eighteen or twenty
seventeen actually, So anyway, so there's that, and then Okada
attacks Omega, and here comes Don Kallas. You know, Don
Collas comes out, he's trying to make trouble. Then Okada

(05:29):
attacks Omega, you know, eventually makes him like bleed quote
unquote out of his mouth. Okata leaves with Don Kallas.
And in fact, tonight they had a match. It was
Okata taking on Mark Briscoe. And who was out there

(05:49):
with him Don Kallas. So the the question I have
now is is an Omega now part of the Don
Kallas family? Because last I checked, he's part of the

(06:13):
elite with the Umbucks. So where does that stand? It's
getting a little confusing, folks, you know, and Don Kallas
already has a pretty sizable stable. He's got Kyl Fletcher,

(06:34):
he's got Conniscade Katashka, he's got Josh Alexander, he's got
Lance Archer, got Brian cage, he's got Rocky Romera, he's
got Trent Boretta. How big is this family gonna get?

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Anyway?

Speaker 3 (06:47):
You know? So why I don't get it. I don't
understand it. But oh well, you know, uh the other
match that's happening tonight, zeus is zeuxis. I think that's
how you pronounce her name, defending the CMLL Women's World

(07:09):
Title against Mercedes Money, who is still the TBS champion,
the rev Pro undisputed British Women's Champion, and she has
one other belt. I forget which one, but anyway, I mean,

(07:30):
is are they doing this just to put another belt
on Mercedes? Now? I read somewhere you know, someone had
the fantasy booking of Tony Storm getting involved in costing
motive of the match because memory it's gonna be Mercedes
Money challenging Tony Storm for the aw Women's World title
at All in Texas coming up on July twelfth in

(07:53):
Arlington at Global Life Field. So I me, and that's possible,
I kind of hope. So I don't think we need,
you know, Mercedes Monett with another belt. I could be wrong,

(08:15):
but I don't think so. So we will see. It's
kind of I assume that's coming up later tonight. It's
a two and a half hour show, and they've already
been going an hour and a half, so it's because
it's just about eight thirty pm Central here. Of course,
they came on the air at seven pm Central on

(08:37):
TVs MX, so we'll see. Have you heard about this?
John Moxley and aid of your being sued for negligence
and civil assault and I'm taking this from wrestling them.

(09:01):
A civil lawsuit filed a Michigan accuses John Moxley of
deviating from the script and injuring a production team member
during a twenty twenty three episode of aw Dynamite. The
report was first made by John Alba, our good friend
from Sports, Illy Rot from Sports Illustrated. Suit was filed

(09:22):
by Christopher Dispenser in Wayne County, Michigan, on May thirtieth.
Dispenser claims he suffered significant injuries, including cervical spine and
shoulder damage requiring surgery, after being shoved to the ground
by Moxley during the May tenth, twenty twenty three broadcast.

(09:44):
So apparently this is a thing, and I'm gonna go
to John Alba's lawsuit or John albas report on the
lawsuit filed May thirtieth, Wayne County Circuit Court. Christier Dispenser

(10:09):
started doing contract work with AW in twenty nineteen. He
is not a direct employee of AW, and provided services
to Broadcast Service Group, which supplies crew for AW. Apparently
mentioned he has not done work with AW since December fifth,

(10:31):
twenty twenty four. Was demoted by Broadcast Service Group to
the role of carpenter without explanation. Let's see, it's a
cervical fusion surgery, shoulder surgery, and treatment for other unspecified injuries.

(10:58):
So apparently this was John Moxley faithd Kenny Omega in
a cage match ended up spilling to the outside. Moxley
went to grab a screwdriver to use on Omega, and
in doing so shoved Dispenser to the ground. The lawsuit
claims Moxley was supposed to only grab the screwdriver, and

(11:18):
Dispenser took an unplanned fall as a result of being shoved.
His legal team alleges this is an example of civil
assault and battery, claiming that in allegedly deviating from the script,
Moxley either showed intent to harm Dispenser or at a
minimum a complete disregard for whether harm was a result.

(11:43):
Goes further, The lawsuit alleges that Moxley had a quote,
had a history of disciplinary issues before this incident, involving
other people while under aw's employee, agency, and or contractual relationship.
Also says that past disciplinary offenses by Moxley include a
documented history of unpredictability as well as a lack of

(12:05):
control by defendant a W, all of which were known
or should have been known to defend it a W
at the time of the assault so filed on May thirtieth.
I gotta imagine, I mean, we will see.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
It seems seems a tad. I don't know. I mean,
I don't know. I don't recall. I don't I don't

(12:51):
I mean, I mean, I've watched I try to watch
Dynamite every week, but you know. His attorney also noted
Dispensing said he never filed an official incident report that
night because he had another job on tour he had
to get back to, but he claimed that he spoke
with three individuals that evening about getting hurt. His legal

(13:16):
team said Dispenser relayed his alleged injuries to ringside position
doctor Michael Sampson, director of performed psychology Chris Manzioni, and
a member of the athletic training staff. Dispenser claimed Sampson
was upset over the situation, saying that all stunts or
interactions outside of the ring must be approved by Sampson beforehand.

(13:36):
Sampson was near Dispenser when the incident occurred. He said
Sampson asked him to go see the training staff. Eh, okay,
so couple things. A it took him two years to
follow the lawsuit. I mean, that's and I get it.

(14:06):
There's you know, there may there may have been some
ext anu way circumstances. He didn't want to lose his job.
It's you know, wrestling is one of those deals. I
get it. I mean, we'll see. It's it's early, Like
I said, the flaw super filed May thirties, so we're

(14:27):
talking three weeks ago. So I'm sure we will hear
about it. Will it you know, what will happen? Will
they settle out of court? I don't know, we'll see.
I'm sure it's probably not the best look for a

(14:50):
e W. I'm sure Tony Kahn obviously we'd rather not
have to deal with this, and.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
I again, I guess we will see. We'll see what
happens with what goes on in the lawsuit. But yeah,
it's a shame. And I guess you know. Updates will
come as they come, So I'm gonna take a quick
time out when I come back. There is a report

(15:23):
that Vince McMahon, at least thought by many, wants to
get back to promoting. The man that filed that report
joins me on the hotline. Justin Baruss, a good friend
of the show. That's next on Sports Guys Talking Wrestling on.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
This is right Clinix the Mexican plus Doscuceando sport Guys.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Back here on Sports Guys Talking Wrestling, Stu Myrick here
there is a report out that Vince McMahon looking to
promote again. In fact, he tried to buy Bare Knuckle
Fighting Championship. Kind of ironic report in Len's this week

(16:27):
as they are up in Fort Worth getting ready for
an event, and the man that birthday report a good
friend of the show, joining me on the hotline from
the Boston Herald and also from Undisputed on sub Stack,
a great blog. You need to subscribe. It is my
good friend, Justin Barasso, Justin, how are you.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
I'm doing well, Stude, thank you for having me.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
It's always ah, always a always honored to be back
on the air with you.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
It's always enjoy talking to you. So let's talk about
this report you dropped. Uh so, so apparently Vince mcmn
tried to buy Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. It meant you
mentioned recent. How recent was it.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
That's a good question. Timings a little hazy. It's within
the last couple of months. But it's also a tough
time for the KFC team because they are really really
having some growth right you know, David Veldman brought Connor
McGregor and as a co owner in Connor's but I
know Connor's controversial, but Connor's done nothing but help the brand.

(17:31):
So this is right in their biggest growth period. So
you can understand whether it be hesitancy to lose control
of the brand and give again. I think David's quote
was very telling. I understand why Vince would want creative
control or you know, but it doesn't make sense for
them right now where they are, and that to me,

(17:53):
not to bury the leads to but that to me
is why, just a feeling we're going to see Vince
back to where he.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
He always was.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
I'd be shocked if this doesn't end with him promoting
some sort of wrestling, especially knowing that he wants to
promote again.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Well, yeah, I believe so so. And it's so it
sounds like from what you said, from what the report said,
it sounds like the the issue wasn't financial. It was
simply a matter of giving up creative control, you know,
giving up kind of the the you know, the direction

(18:27):
of the brand to it is that the feeling you got.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Absolutely And if you know, David had already covered David Heilman,
who's a really interesting person to cover with b KFC.
I mean, he's warriaged the house and you know, spend
a lot of his life savings to make this company work.
It really is in many ways, you know, I think
there's some similarities between David and and Vince in the

(18:52):
eighties when Vince believed in ww the World Wrestling Federation
so much that he was going to find a way
to uh to bring to New heights, and I think
that's what David feel, how David feels about b KFC,
about Baron Knuckle Fighting Championship. They just need the right
star to build around. You know, Vince had had Holkoke
and worked around him. But I think that's one hundred

(19:14):
percent right. He did not want to. It wasn't a
financial issue.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
Okay, all right, so then let's let's talk about Vince.
So you you mentioned that there are there are several
within the combat sports realm that believe that Vince will
be involved in pro wrestling, probably promoting. I guess the
big question right now is how much hesitancy is there

(19:41):
given the the lawsuit, the Janelle Grant law suit, the
investigations from the SEC. How much hesitancy is there too,
you know, work with Vince or to invest alongside Vince.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
That's a great question.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
I think that he'd find wrestlers, it's everything else, and
he's got talented. I mean a lot of the executives
who left WWE in twenty twenty four are with Vince
now with his new company or his new new investment firm.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
You know, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
I mean, we're going to see how much Wade his
name still holds, if this is the route he wants
to go.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
But Stu, I think you hit the nail on the head.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
There's so many questions and so much gray area, and
the lawsuit and so many other problems the branch off
from that. It would make a lot more sense to
buy an existing promotion, but those really don't exist anymore.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
I mean, WWE has the working agreement with TNA. Tony
Kahn bought.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
Ring Him Honor a couple of years ago, Triple A,
which I don't know Vince would have bought Triple A,
but Triple as now been acquired and that's been the
work for a while, works for.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
A while by WWE.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
New Japan could probably use an influx of cash, but
I don't know if Vince is gonna buy it.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
There just aren't a lot of promotions out there that
are ready for Vince to buy and take over. That
to me, is it makes sense that he come back
to wrestling. That's the part that makes sense. But the
part that doesn't make sense is everything around it. The sponsorships,
the advertisers, the broadcasting, the streaming, your promotion itself. Yeah,

(21:31):
everything about it doesn't make sense other than Vince coming
back to wrestling.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Well, and you're right, because I mean, yes, most of
the name you know, just by all the name wrestlers
are tied to WW or AW or TNA or ring
of honor you know, wherever, MLW whatever. The other issue
I see is the simple fact that the man is
seventy nine years old. He's not you know, this isn't

(21:57):
the eighties, This isn't Vince trying to build his brand
off the territories back in the eighties. He's seventy nine
years old. And the I guess the the other the
you know, so I'm thinking of that. Plus is there
any notion as to what kind of you know, what

(22:17):
kind of shape he's in.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
Elfwise, the last time we saw him publicly, I think
it was a Knicks game and he looked good.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
But I don't think we've seen him since in the
public public view, you know.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Speaking with David Feldman about that meeting with Vince, he
said he looked great, he sounded great, he was very
serious to do business.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
David said it was an honor for him to be
in the room with him, with Vincent Man, and I.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
From promoter to promoter, I can see why that was
such a momentous occasion for him. Obviously, Vince's no stranger
to controversy, and that's ongoing. But yeah, I mean, you
make val everything. That's why again, I mean times of
the essence, he's seventy nine. It does seem like he's determined.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
You know, I've been.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
Following the Vince story for a while and I didn't
want to run it because I it was missing something.
It was missing that, you know, kind of that verification
that he wanted back in. Well, the fact that he
wanted to basically run DKFC shows that he has committed
to coming back. How that plays out, we don't know,

(23:25):
but it just seems like Vince wants back in the game.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
Well okay, so then you know, then it leads to
you know, so we talked about the wrestler. You know,
all the name rustlers are signed, but there are those
even sign that have positive feelings for Vince, So, you know,
and I think, I mean, the first name that comes

(23:50):
to mind is the man that's going through his retirement
to her right now, in John Cena. So John Cena
retires at the end of twenty twenty five. If Vince
somehow fine gets a wrestling promotion up, does he have
a chance to sign somebody like John Cena?

Speaker 2 (24:12):
So I can't and I won't speak for John imagine
that scenario. I will say in the conversations have been
off the record, so obviously I'll always respect that honor that.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
But I've spoke to many superstar wrestlers.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
In w currently in WWE, currently in AW and to
a man, they all said they think the world evinced
they wouldn't be where they You know, I'd say, at
least A doesn't.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
I wouldn't be where I am without him. That sort
of thing. Now, I don't know what would people actually
go sign and work for him. I don't know. I
think that you need something and.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
This is just me speculating, Stude, this is not insight info, right,
but I think you'd need something like you'd need somebody
in the ring to say I've always wanted to be
in ring with I'm just going to use the name
Steve Austin. Well, if you had Steve Austin be your
show's commissioner, when somebody signs, they could say, well, I

(25:09):
get to work with Vince and I get to work
alongside my childhood hero and Steve Austin.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
Something like that.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
I'm not saying Steve would do it, but I think
they'd need something like that, you need you need some
kind of draw or you'd get a scenotype and then
the wrestlers would fall.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
People would follow. But that's a big if. And again,
where are they? Do they start their own streaming service, do.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
They have their own network? Are they connected still with
advertisers and networks? There are just so many questions and
it feels like, I mean, the ideas, the idea is
very compelling. Vin's coming back to wrestling, right, what would
happen next? But then you look at the details and
it's like, man, this makes no sense. He would be

(25:52):
much better off buying an existing brand, except there really
aren't many of those, if any, out there.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
So then I think about the the last the final
couple of years of his run in WWE. You know,
the other reports were out there it was, for lack
of a better term, erratic, you know, tearing up scripts
at the last minute, you know, changing things on the

(26:21):
fly just because it amused him. I mean, is there
is there any thought about you know, if he if
he if he got a wrestling promotion, let's just throw
it out there. It's not it's not gonna happen. I
don't think it's gonna happen. Let's say he goes after
Major League Wrestling and court Virus says, all right, Vance

(26:43):
you're in. You know, is he gonna be? You know,
the final say on the creative and and again, thinking
about those last couple of years with as erratic as
it was, I gotta imagine in wrestler's heads that's got
to play into their thinking somehow.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
I agree. But if you're not being used, and the
problem now is.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
In WWE's got a very compelling product.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
I think AW does too, and there bilding to all in.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
But if you're not, you know where you want to
be on the card, I think the grass is always greener,
So I think he'd have that going for him, you know.
And Vince has always been able to draw talent, and
now granted he was doing it for a position of power,
but I think he could. I just think there's so

(27:36):
few major spots out there, key spots, prominent positions that
I think you could in Wrestlings are in a unique
field in the sense that you could be the best athlete,
but you might not get over. You could be the
best talker, but not given the mic enough because the
promoter or the Booker doesn't give you that chance.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
I don't know. I think that I don't think that
would be the issue. I think he would get people.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
To sign if everything else was up. And there's there's
a lot of ifs in there, Stu. Are you anywhere
near Lubbock, Texas?

Speaker 3 (28:12):
No, Lubbick is probably about five five or six hours
north of me.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
All right, So, I mean, but it reminds me a
little reason I ask. It reminds me a little bit
of Bobby Knight. Yes, and obviously very but you know,
a well established or an icon of the field, Bobby,
and that leaves Indiana under controversy, and then he goes
to Texas Tech. You can see some connective tissue here
with Vince. It's fun at first and then then where
does it go? And I think that would be the

(28:41):
problem that Vince starter promotion, or maybe he's better off
just running shows like they did a couple of big events.
There'd be no weekly television. You can use that pay
per view model. Again, this is all speculation, but I
don't see how feasible it is because you just mentioned
it too. Creative was erratic at best during his final run,

(29:05):
final final stretch in WWE. Yeah, I don't know how
you work around that.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
I don't either. I don't either. Talk with Justin Brasso
from the Boston Herald before I let you go, Justin,
Let's talk a little King and Queen of the Ring.
We know the semifinals are set Rainy Orton versus Sammy Zay,
Cody Rhodes taken on Jay Usso, and then the Queen
of the Ring Oscar taking on Alexa Bliss and Jake

(29:32):
Cargill taking Rock San Perez. Let's pull out your crystal ball.
Tell me who ends up being King and Queen of
the Ring and when the night is over. June twenty
eighth in Saudi Arabia.

Speaker 2 (29:46):
I just don't see Sina losing the belt to Ron
Killings on SmackDown Friday. I'm really curious how they position
that match because Killings is red hot and you want
to keep that going. I can't see Sina losing the
belt to Punk at Night a champions. I think the
fact that it's in Saudi Arabia gives WWE, gives Triple
H a little more flexibility. You're not gonna have a

(30:08):
crowd probably, you know, if that crowd with Chicago or
Philly or I don't know, pick a million other cities,
Pittsburgh or I don't know. I think a lot of
crowds would would be upset, could be very upset if
that finish didn't go right. I think they're gonna have
flexibility with the crement, not maybe not the Internet, but
with the crowd itself in Saudi if you did a

(30:30):
controversial finish. So I think seen it keeps the belt
Beyond that champions, I actually think Sammy Zaine wins the
King of the Ring. I think they built SummerSlam around
Zayan and this is just my opinion, John Cena, and
I think that eventually leads to Sammy's heel turn. Maybe

(30:52):
I just want them to work with Paul Hayman again
because they work so well to do in the Bloodline.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
But to me, Sammy.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
Fits the East ethos of that that new dangerous alliance
that Paul Hayman's running with Seth Rollins.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
And bron Breaker and Bronson Reid. So I really like
to see Seth, excuse me, Sammy part of it.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
And what better way to be frustrated that he can't
win the world title and then he can join. So
I actually think Sammy's gonna win, so we'll see how
Friday Night goes with SmackDown, so it really gets SmackDown
on Friday. And for the women, I think it's Jade
Cargill's moment, especially with Naomi having the briefcase. Maybe she
cashes in after Jade wins the belt. There's a lot
you can do there, but I think they've got breakout

(31:30):
stars there with Jade and Naomi. They've come close with
Naomi a couple of times, but I think it's a
heel right now with the briefcase.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
She's great, and I think Jade wins Queen of the Ring.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
Yeah, I think you're right. Justin Brosso Hey tell everybody
about Undisputed.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
So I spent time flies.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
I spent a decade with Sports Illustrated, and it was
time for me to branch off and do my own thing.
So I left last summer, and I really enjoyed the freedom,
the flexibility to cover the way I want to cover
professional wrestling. At MMA, there are multiple stories a week.
It's kind of a newsletter set up on substack, which

(32:10):
I like, and I like following other writers on the
site too. You get an email every time someone to
one of your authors. If I write a piece, you
get it in your email box, so I think that's
very convenient.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
There are paid.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
Options, there are free options. So's it's a lot of
fun to cover. Just like you, Stu, it's such a
joy to cover this, to cover pro wrestling, to cover NMA.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
So yeah, it's undisputed dot substack dot com.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
There's at least there's a Monday piece, excuse me, a
Monday podcast, a Tuesday piece, Wednesday the Wednesday call them
the Weekend Wrestling, which I've been doing for almost ten
years now. Friday's the m m a call them the
a notebook, excuse me. Sunday's the Sunday Notes. We just
added in.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
I think they're great.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
We just added in the guys from wait Times and
they it's data collection. They time out the weight times
in between matches.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
So like tomorrow Thursday, we'll lot a piece up.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
Go look at the wait times from the twenty fifteen
Knighted Champions, the twenty twenty three United Champions, and we'll
kind of compare that after the Night of Champions this
year because the weight times have really grown between matches.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
So that's going again. I think it's just a lot
of fun to have the freedom to do or doing.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
And we've got a really solid crew backing us of
loyal readers.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
And I'm super grateful for that.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
So yeah, I'm Disputed dot substack dot com and with
the Boston Herald as well, so it's a nice balance.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
But man, I just love to cover this tough and
I'm grateful to do.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
It, and I'm grateful you keep doing it. Justin Brosso
from the Boston Herald in Undisputed, Justin, I appreciate it, man,
great read. All the best to you. Hopefully we will
connect soon.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
Okay, maybe this summer at all in Oh that.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
That sounds good. All right, talk to you soon, thanks too,
Justin Brosso. Always, I mean, he worked so long with
Sports Illustrated and I you know, I met him. I
think I met him at He may have been at
the first Star cast in Chicago back in twenty eighteen,
and we just got to know each other so well,

(34:19):
and I'd have him on the show all the time.
And now you know, with the Boston Harold and doing
this Undisputed on Substack, and he does a great job.
He really does that. This Week in Wrestling column is
something you know again it's a carryover from what he
did for sports illustrating such a great right. So yeah,
check it out Undisputed dot substack dot com. As he mentioned,

(34:40):
there's free options, there's paid options. Check it all out there.
So interesting that he picked Sammy's saying, I think the
the prevailing thought is Cody would would win because that
would set up Cody and Sina at SummerSlam. But yeah, interesting, Okay,

(35:01):
Sammy's saying talking about maybe a heel turn for Sammy,
which it seems like they're slow burning because of you know,
with him and uh carrying cross and everything. Well we'll see.
I don't know, I mean, I get it, so but yeah,
and then Jay Cargill, I think that's a slam dunk.

(35:25):
It just it just rights itself with him and with
her in in Naomi. So good stuff there. Uh, let's
talk about let's talk some other WWE stuff. Uh, Triple
A had Triple Mania Regia. I think that's how you
pronounced it, triple Mania Regia this past weekend in Monterey, Mexico,

(35:52):
and Angel and Berto los Garza winning the Triple A
tag team titles. Already in a little w W influence
in Triple A, but yeah, they and they of course,
you know, they wrestled in triple A. You know, so
of course is a big thing for them. Congratulations to
Angel and Berto. Something else happened this past this past week.

(36:17):
Hickalo So he has been signed to w W for
over a year after leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling. He's
been signed for over a year, but we haven't seen
him until he finally made his debut on a main
event taping. And I think it was Friday, you know,

(36:38):
I think it was like Friday before, you know, before
something back down. But he did have a match. So
finally we get to the Hikalu. You know a lot
of people are are assuming he's gonna end up with
as part of the solas CoA, you know that that
whole thing, especially you know Tamatonga, Tongaloa, the former Gorillas

(36:59):
of Destiny. They're his brothers after all. So you know,
we'll see, we'll see what happens. I you know, I
gotta imagine they're gonna bring him on his SmackDown eventually,
you think, I what do I know? Though, Let's see
I mentioned King and Queen the Ring their report. Mike
Johnson are good friend from p d W Insider reporting

(37:21):
that SmackDown will will finally revert to two hours. It
was it was originally reported they were gonna do at
the beginning of this month. Then that went away apparently
okay word, so now they're saying July fourth it will
start being a two hour show. And and it actually
is kind of just by virtue of there's apparently advanced

(37:47):
scheduled for USA Network. They have some show scheduled for
ten pm Eastern, nine pm Central on July fourth on
USA Network, So it's kind of like putting two two together.
That's when, and it'll revert back to two hours. And
it seems that it's going to be, you know, the
case going forward. I hope so three hour shows. And

(38:08):
look and also I was complaining about a ew going
four hours last you know, the last couple of weeks.
It was way too long. I mean, just way too long,
he said. Rod's got it kind of right with the
two and a half hours. You know, they're out usually
at around nine thirty pm Central, ten thirty pm Eastern,

(38:29):
you know, two and a half hours right about. It's enough,
you know, without going overload. So I hope that happens.
We'll see you heard Justin mentioned Ron Killings our Truth
attacking John Cena. They're gonna meet this Friday night on SmackDown.
I have not seen now he mentioned, you know, seeing

(38:50):
it wouldn't drop the title. I haven't seen, and I
don't I don't think it is. But as far as
I know, that's not even a title match. I don't
think it's a title match. I could be wrong, but
I think it's I think it's just, you know, a

(39:11):
non title just for the sake of, you know, them
fighting each other, you know, we I mean, we'll see there.
You know, he's been attacked. He attacked John Cena twice
last last Friday, this past Friday, I should say. But

(39:33):
as far as I know, and I'm looking at the graphic,
it looks like it is not a I'm reading the
report from Wrestling Observer. Rematch stems from multiple segments on
this week smack Down episode. We're Killings attack Sena. Uh

(39:58):
uh yeah. I don't think it's gonna be a title match.
I think it is just a it's just gonna be
Ron Killings going after John Cena. Which, hey, that's fine
by me, you know, let's do it and not every
time seeing it gets the ring, doesn't have to be
a title match. Uh, let's see what else. Monday Night

(40:21):
on Raw, Gunther comes out talking about, you know, he
is gonna restore prestige to the World Heavyweight Championship, and
here comes Goldberg. And Goldberg comes out, He's sweating, he's
piss he's snorting, basically boils down. He's going to challenge

(40:44):
Gunther for the World Heavyweight title on July twelfth at
Saturday Night's main Events. By the way, if July twelfth
sounds familiar, yes, because that is the same day as
a eight of you all in Texas. But it will
be Goldberg versus Gunther. I saw it in Faye Uh

(41:05):
and uh, you know, to plug justin Brusso's Undisputed Substack blog,
he had an article about why is Goldberg getting a
title shot, you know without giving up anything. I mean, now,
the reports are this is supposed to be his retirement match,

(41:25):
but they haven't really meant mentioned that. Will they mention
that next week on Raw? We'll see. Uh could it
be that, you know it'll be a title versus career match.
I don't know. It does seem a little out of
out of the blue. You know after you know, Goldberg

(41:48):
hadn't been around and in quite some of them, and
then all of a sudden, boom, he shows up and
he gets title shot. Hey, look, I get it. It's
gonna it's gonna get eyes on NBC that Saturday night.
Not to mention, I mean, I say, you know, counter
programming against all In, all Ends in the afternoon, that's

(42:08):
gonna be the night. Hopefully, crossing my fingers, all In
will be done before a Surrey Knight's Man event comes
on the air. So well, we hope, so I might
be in the press conference, but anyway, uh, anyway, So yeah,
Goldberg and gunth for the World heavyweight title at Surrey
Knight's Man event in Atlanta. Of course, Goldberg you know,

(42:31):
played college football at Georgia, played for the Falcons, so
Atlanta close to his heart there. So uh, we've got
another title match set up for Night of Champions. AJ
Styles challenging Dominic Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship. That's gonna
be and Insaudi Arabia at Night of Champions on on

(42:54):
June twenty eighth. AJ Styles you know, he's you know,
got this little uh storyline going with with dominic you know,
And it's funny there's been reports about you know, some
people are saying they're gonna eventually turn Dominic mysterial baby
face again. I don't. I mean maybe, but I don't

(43:19):
think it's gonna happen anytime soon. I mean, he's still
getting good heat as a as a as a heel,
So it's like, why change that right now? Let him
be the let him be the you know, dastardly yield anyway,
AJ styles dominant mysterial. Uh So, speaking of dominic man,

(43:42):
and you hate when this happens, but it is. It's
it's the unfortunate side of pro wrestling. So on Raw,
you had Live Morgan face off against Kyrie Sane, I mean,
and match had just started. Live Morgan goes in the ropes,

(44:03):
Kyrie saying takes her down Live lands on, you know,
with her hands out, and you can see her shoulder dislocate.
I mean you can actually see it happen. Match had
to be stopped. Medical staff checks on her athletic trainer
as such, take her to the back. Fightful is reporting.

(44:29):
I think it's actually fightful select their reporting. Surgery is
required and she is likely to miss several months, and
you hate to see that happen. I mean, you know,
Live Morgan is entertaining as annoying as she be. She's
annoying because she's ill, and it's supposed to be. So
it's fine, it's great. Now she's got to be on

(44:51):
the shelf. Not to mention the same report from Firefool
was talking about how they've basically got to start over
with Creative because she was, you know, she was very
involved in two or three different storylines you had to
you had you know, Dominic of course, you get the
thing with Roxane Perez trying to get into the trying

(45:13):
to Judgment day of course, her and Raquel Rodriguez, you know,
or the tag Champs. What happens to the tag titles? Now?
Do they slide Roxanne in there?

Speaker 2 (45:25):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (45:25):
To have her tag with Raquel? You know. So you've
got a pivotal part of the women's side of the
Creative that is now out and it's probably gonna be
out for several months. So it'll be interesting to see
what they do, how they shift things. You know, they're

(45:49):
they've been apparently are trying they're trying to put Maxine
dupri and Italia together as a tag team. I think
they're calling them the Dungeon Dolls.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (46:00):
So there's those two just just really interesting and like
I said, sad to see. But you know, so best
wishes to live. Morgan well likely to go under surgery
to prepair that dislocated shoulder and hopefully she can make
a full recovery as speedy as possible. But you know,

(46:22):
more importantly, a full recovery and come back. So I'm
gonna take a quick time out. When I come back,
I'll let you know what's happening independent wrestling around the
state of Texas. Plus I'll talk about what happened and
Domingion and we know who's gonna be in the g
One Climax. I'll tell you about it next. On Sports
Guys Talking Wrestling, This is.

Speaker 1 (46:49):
Jake the Snake Roberts.

Speaker 2 (46:50):
You know that Hall of Famer And you're listening to
the Sports Guys Talking Wrestling for any damn thing else
they want.

Speaker 3 (46:57):
To Welcome back to Sports Guys Talking Wrestling. Stu Meyrie here,
got a couple of cards to tell you about in
Texas independent wrestling. I'll start with Blackbird Pro Pro Wrestling

(47:18):
presenting Fantastic Terror Saturday at the Cold Start Dab Company
in San Antonio, belltime seven thirty pm Central. To meet you,
Alexandrov will be there, Gary j Anarchid Ash, Jason Way,
and Moore. That's Blackbird Pro Wrestling this Saturday night in
San Antonio. And Hot Pro Wrestling has Sunday nights Ultra

(47:38):
slamb Sunday at the Waco Lions Dan in Waco, belltime
six pm Central. Vin Parker, Dylann Cavens, Tralh Temba, Tiger
Pants and more of That's Hot Pro Wrestling this Sunday
in Waco. And that's a look indepent wrestling around the
state of Texas. Wherever you may be, go out and

(48:00):
support independent wrestling. Speaking of independent wrestling, an announcement ring
of honor Women's World Champion Athena. You know she is
a native of Texas, the Metroplex to be exact, and

(48:22):
apparently she I guess she is at least part owner
of Metroplex Wrestling. I promote them every chance I get.

Speaker 1 (48:33):
Well.

Speaker 3 (48:34):
She is announced that Metroplex Wrestling will host a regular
all women's show called Who Runs the World. The first
event is scheduled for August ninth. It will be at
the NPX Arena in Bedford right now she has Raisa Clark, Vert, Vixen,

(48:56):
hi On Abadan and Masha Slamovich alllready scheduled for that
for that inaugural show, which should draw a huge crowd,
especially with Athena being attached to it. So a great, great,
you know, great display of women's wrestling there. Who runs

(49:20):
the world from Metroplex Wrestling and the forever ring of
honorable Champion Athena. So be looking forward to that. On
August ninth, New japanpur Wrestling had dominion this past weekend.
Uh Hiroki Yoto retaining the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in

(49:41):
a great title of defense against Shingo Chakagi. Gabe Kid
is your new IWGP Global Champion. He defeated Yoda Suji
for that title. Oh Leg Bolton is now the new
Never Open Weight Champion. He defeated Kanaski Takeshta. Who is
you know he's got? He signed with a e W

(50:04):
Noods Ban and DDT Pro. Good money if you can
get it. We also have new tag team champions both
in the heavyweight and Junior heavyweight division tai Chi and
to what you'r Ishi winning the heavyweight tag titles from
Calum Newsen and Great Ocon from United Empire, and Shoe

(50:27):
and Douki winning the junior tag titles from Yo and
Master Wato, so tag titles changing hands. Evil beat David
Finley in a dog collar match. Heard you imagine it
was brutal, bloody, all that good stuff. Interesting development. There

(50:48):
was a multi person tag match. The final entrant was
bad Luck Foley, who was coming out for Bullet Club
War Dogs. Well no he's not. He's now Don Fallet
and is now a part of House of Torture. And
then on top of that, Chase Owens defects from Bullet

(51:09):
Club enjoins House of Torture, Bullet Club Board Bullet Clubs.
I think maybe it's it has seemed this way for
a little while, but now I think we might be
on the last legs of Bullet Club, which I mean
bad Luck Fallet was one of the original members twelve

(51:32):
years ago with Carl Anderson, Prince Devitt now Finn Balor
who is the other one, oh Toma Tonga. They were
the original Bullet Club and now twelve years later he
is now part of House of Torture. So I Chase

(51:57):
Owens also defecting. Chase lives here or lives in Antonio.
I think anyway, big doings there. So we'll see what
happens with book Club going forward. David Finley is still,
you know, part of that, but god, imagine, you know,
could we be seeing the dying days of Bullet Club

(52:18):
after so long? I mean you think of everybody that's
been in that, in that faction, from Finn Balor to
AJ Styles, Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, the Bucks, Toma, Tonga, Tongala, Hikoleo,
I mean just crazy. During the show, they also announced

(52:42):
the participants for the G One Climax. I think this
is number thirty five. G One Climax will run from
July nineteenth till August seventeenth. Two blocks, as tradition, the
A block, Heroki Yoto, the current iw GP World ayeight champion,

(53:03):
Oleg Bolton or Mora, Yodasuji, David Finley, Evil Sonata, Hiroshi Tanahashi,
and then two fill ins. They'll be qualifying matches. Tai
Chi will face Calum Newman Newsom Yeah Newman, excuse me,
Callum Newman on June twenty third, and Oil will take

(53:25):
on Don Fallet on July fourth. The winners of those
two matches will be added to the A block, B
block L Fantasma, Shota, Umino, Shingo Takagi, Zach Saber Junior,
Great Ocon Gabe, kid Renda, Rita Knuskeet Takeshta, and two
winners of qualifying matches. The qualifying matches to me, You're

(53:45):
Isshi taking Ondrella Maloney on June twenty third, and Yoshi
Hashi will face Chase Owens on July fourth, and those
winners will fill out the B block course. The winner
of the g One Climax gets a shot at the
IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at wrestled Kingdom on January fourth

(54:09):
in the Tokyo Dome. At least that's been traditioned now
they've had those. I think this. In fact, it was
this past year they cashed in, like in October. Who
was it, Zach sap No, it wasn't Zach Saber Jr.
Maybe it was however anyway, So anyway, winner of the

(54:32):
g One Climax will get a shot at the world title.
So big doings there. Oh and then on top of that,
well's old is new again. So TNA. TNA Wrestling is
doing TV tapings this Friday night in Pittsburgh. Guess who's
joining them to do guest commentary longtime sports radio host

(54:59):
Colin and former w c W nitro commentator Mark Madden.
He's going to be part of the commentary team for
TNA this Friday in Pittsburgh. Mark Madden was part of
the he was in that the dying days of w CW.

(55:19):
But now he's gonna dust dust off the mic and
join Tom Hannifan on the mic. They're at in Pittsburgh
for those ten A TV taping, So that should be interesting.
We'll see how that goes. You know when when those
when those episodes air on Access TV. But Mark Madden,

(55:42):
I know, I think he still does sports radio in Pittsburgh,
and I think he still writes. I could be wrong,
but anyway, it'll be good to hear Mark Madden call
in the action once again, this time for TNRE. That'll
do it for this week Sports Guys Talking Wrestling. You
