Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the American Nightmare, Cody Roads, and you are
listening to sports guys talking wrestling when they're.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Not covering the sports world. They're talking about the world
or professional wrestling. It's sports guys talking wrestling. Now here's
Stu Myrin. It is sports guys talking wrestling. Stu Myrick here.
Thank you so much for joining me on this wonderful

(00:31):
Tuesday evening here in the beautiful city of Austin, Texas.
NXT going on right now Fia Hall battling it out.
So I Night of Champions was this past week. It
was a it was an event. It was an event.

(00:56):
And to help me break it all down, joining me
live in studio, my dear friend from pro wrestling Torch
Brian Zylem Brian, give me a letter grade for Night
of Champions C minus.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
I think C minus. Yes, okay, what's the use to.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
I you know, I'm gonna give it a B minus
if for no other reason than it felt like that
show went by at a really good clip. I mean,
there was only one match that was less than ten minutes,
which is kind of criminal, the you know, Jade and Oscar,

(01:49):
but it felt like, especially you know Cody versus Randy,
and I guess it was Oh it was the street fight.
Felt like those went like I looked up and it
was over. So you know, in that sense, it was like, hey, okay,
I like this. Let's see know the you know, the

(02:14):
matches themselves, I think, and I think you'll agree. This
is now. This has become just a spectacle for the
fans in Saudi Arabia.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Yeah, it glorified house show. Yeah, maybe upgraded slightly where
it's a seed tier TV raw and orse back down.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Yeah, it is interesting and I do wonder why they
did this. So, you know, for the longest time, the
the event in Saudi Arabia would be Crown Jewel, but
they decided to make it Night a Champions and make
the one in Perth, Australia coming up this fall Crown.

(03:04):
Just is it just to what make it? Just make
it sound different? I don't know. Seems kind of silly.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
It seems very on brand and or marketing for them
to do that, right, that sounds something T would do potentially,
I get all right.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Uh So Cody Rhoads defeating Randy Orton. He is now
the King of the ring. He will get the title
shot at Rest at SummerSlam against John Cena. Uh. I
thought the match was what you would expect from Cody
and Randy. You saw, like, you know, the teasings of

(03:47):
heelish activity from both of them, actually Randy especially, you know,
setting up to do the punt and then not pulling
the trigger. Just give me your thoughts on Cody Roads
becoming the new King of the Ring.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Best match on the card by Miles in my opinion,
I will say there was a spot on the in
the match where you know, obviously wrestling, you're supposed to
suspend your disbelief Stu. But do you remember the spot
where Cody tried to do the Cody cutter and it
was just really ridiculous how he landed an RKO. I

(04:27):
was like, all right, come on, guys, like I'm willing
to slow it down a little bit. Let's let's let's
not do that, yeah, if we you know, obviously they
were kind of doing that for visual and fans. Yes,
in terms of the match, again, is best match on
the card by Miles for me by some distance and
results pending. You know, it's I guess you can say

(04:50):
it's interesting whether you know they're finally kind of entertaining
the idea of maybe Cody turning heel. But it's just
kind of weird because he's still very over as a
baby face. Still question mark. I mean, obviously you and
I have discussed at length, you know, how WrestleMania was
not didn't really benefit Cody at the time, and I think,

(05:14):
you know, he left obviously the film, the New Naked
Gun movie, and he's back. I kind of still feel
like they have not really addressed any elephants in the
room about like him being getting beat up and how
is he not just really beaten up John con at all.
Just you know, you want your baby face to obviously
look smart and want to be revengeful. I mean, obviously

(05:37):
his postmatch promo is saying, you know, he wants the ball,
He's going to get the ball back. You know, we'll see.
I will say, I have no idea what they're gonna do.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
I will let me ask this the you know, so
John Cena, I guess you know, a week before did
his version of the pipe bomb, which okay, fine, pay
tribute to something that happened fourteen years ago. I say

(06:08):
that was easily the best moment of his heel turn
by a country mile And I say that because there
hasn't been there has been many, if even any, good
moments of this heel turn. And then you, of course
you just mentioned you know, Cody, and there was the
interview about you know, how long do is you see himself?

(06:30):
You know, how long before he thinks he'll turn heel
and da da da. I'm with you. I think I
think any any heel turn right now would be shortsighted
in you know, with respect to a how hoever he is,
how much March he's selling. It's this, ironically, the very
same issue that John Cener ran into all those years ago.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
But yeah, just give.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Give me your thoughts on on that promo. Well, and
then Punk coming out, you know, Friday Night in Saudi Arabia,
through the whole Punkinomics, Punk, plug them Up, whatever, Just
give me your thought on all of that.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Okay, quite a twenty four hour period for more for
one Chick Magnet Punk stew Yeah, so well we'll go
back in time the pipeline promo. I honestly, STU could
not get over how they framed that. Where I was

(07:30):
looking at that silly slim gym table the whole freaking
time and I just it was so distracting, it was
so obnoxious. So for me, I just I couldn't stop
looking at it. Now, in terms of if we're kind
of grading a low bar, I will kind of agree

(07:52):
with you that this was probably the coolest I guess
seen as come off. Now. Do I believe the words
and content? Not really, But I think the things that
I didn't really enjoy it wasn't really so much that
the words Sina delivered. I just think Punk look kind

(08:13):
of like a huge geek. He laid there dead for
fourteen minutes, yes, with a silly slim gem table. And
I don't know why they're still STU. It's twenty twenty five.
Why are they still And we talked about this on
the build with Sina and Cody. They're still trying to

(08:35):
get their little AW digs in And I just you know,
there's those compiracy theories on why he referenced Cordona for
CC and our our you know, Matt Cardona and Claudio
Castan and then who was the other person to the Yeah,
they were. They were all trying to tie into AW references,

(08:56):
which just stop that.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Well, I mean, you look at it, you have Claude
y Kasnol who's in AEW Nick is in TNA, who
they have a working relationship with. Yes, and then Matt
Cardona is a free agent. He's not signed, He's not
signed to anybody.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
If anything, you're just giving you know, I'm sure Cardona
loved hearing his name on he put out a T
shirt exactly, So it just very silly with that. So
but yes, in terms of coolness, I think the way
Sena framed himself was probably the best heel thing he's done.
I just wasn't a big believer on what he delivered.

(09:34):
And obviously Punk laying there for fifteen minutes dead just
very silly. That was silly right now you do the
Punk life stuff. I mean, I'm for silly and sports
entertainment as much as the next person, but that was

(09:56):
not good sports entertainment for me personally. And then if
you fast forward, you know the twenty four hours before that,
there was the apology that he made in the pre
show for this Night of Champions, which I think a
lot of people have identified that seems more like an

(10:18):
obligation than anything of mean. And the individual that Punk
may have interacted with could have been planted, you know,
it seems very possible. If you see he's there in
every He's right behind Paulovec. After the post show for
Night Up Champions, he was pretty close to Punk. So
take take with that what you will. And I think

(10:43):
he knew it was bad. I had a good friend
of mine pointing out, I think we're just in this era.
He just does not care anymore. He's gonna sing for
a supper. I think no punk, punk, Yeah, punk. I
think old punk of old would have not let that happen, right.

(11:03):
I think he's just in this phase. He knows he's
in this phase. Now. He cannot fight back, he cannot
push back. And you know, I think we talked about
it this months ago when that original commercial aired where
he was on it, and then they they said, oh no, no, no,
just kidding, we'll take him out and place out the
rollins on there, which so it was just you know,

(11:28):
we can talk more about just the main event with
him and John later.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
But well, and I will kind of let's let's kind
of get into that as well. John Cena beats see
him Punk to retain the title once again, and this
I guess this is now going to be the John
Cena playbook. Uh you know, it's multiple run ins, two
rough bumps, you know. And you know Sena retains the

(11:56):
title via nefarious means, which okay, he's a heel, he's
supposed to do that. I totally get it. But it's
it's one of those things. And this is part of
the this is part of the problem with having John
Cena as a heel and as your your top champion.

(12:20):
He hasn't He hasn't wrestled the clean match since since
you know, uh well, since Elimination Chamber when he turned
on Cody. He hasn't wrestled a clean match. It's starting
to feel a little like, it's all it's almost getting
too similar to you don't put Goldberg in long matches, now,

(12:45):
you don't put Seena in in you know, matches that
he might actually have to use wrestling.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
Moves twenty seven minutes this winter, which.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Yes, now, and it was just I mean, I okay, fine,
So give me your thoughts on it and tell me
you tell me in your opinion. Does scene A drop
the title at SummerSlam?

Speaker 3 (13:14):
And I guess we should have even mentioned this. During
the Sena pipe bomb, he was cheered basically the entire time,
which is even more convoluted and complicated. I would love
to having a real conversation with when Philip Brooks do
and ask him everything he went through, was it worth

(13:34):
it to get that match that he had with John?
And I just you know, I would like to think
he would say, no, that doing all that was not
worth it. Now if the match would have been an
over delivery one of Seena's best well, and that's the
dust the bar. I think this might have been John
one of John's better matches, which is the bar is
not really that high right now. No, it's it's not

(13:58):
at all. So you know, I think it started fine,
and then it kind of was very sludgy, you know,
and they just to me, it just really showed the
age of both men honestly, and it's not their fault.
You know, they're both in their forties. I mean John's

(14:18):
you know, almost fifty if not you know, pushing it. Yeah,
you know, he's just he's hurting punks. Obviously his knees
are not worth they were, and I don't you know,
the run ins were kind of expected, but then it's
like you kind of did that a match one match
before where that you kind of had the spam run

(14:39):
ins and jumps and blah blah blah, and then I
thought the refs kind of looked silly. Pantic walking and
doing a strut was very ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
So you know what I thought of was when Jeff
Party came down in aw help out Matt.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Yeah, So I guess, if you want to grade in
on a scale, was this one of seeing his better
Matt just as a champion right now? I suppose. I
don't think it was. I think it was borderline fine
until they got all into the smages and then you
got all therough prompts. I mean, the Charles Robinson at

(15:15):
sixty one years old taking that bump from John. Obviously,
I think that was probably the highlighter of the match
for me. But then you know, there's several occasions I
thought they were kind of reckless punk doing that dive
and almost killing himself that yes, Penta did that dive
and ended up kicking Sammy in ahead, which I don't think.
I'm glad he's fine, but that looked kind of rough,

(15:39):
And you know, it's just kind of what the main
event scene is now, and that's what you kind of
have to do to protect John as a heel, and
I just don't think people have realized John can't bump
and feed. He's just not. I mean he's almost fifty
years old, Stu, Like, I know you can't. Sometimes he

(16:00):
can take it to dog new tricks. Is just why
would you do that now? He like do the sena
traditional match, and I think that at this point might
go over a little bit better than what we're getting now.
I mean, should John lose the title asap? I mean
I think it's you need to re I don't know

(16:20):
what the plan is long term. Obviously they need to
kind of put him back on the face side, and
there's multiple plots, like they can probably just say, oh,
he's a face on WRAW the next day and everything
might be fine. Who knows. They probably need to get
the title off him. I don't care if it's Cody,
I don't care if it's Seth, I don't care if
it's Jacob flattou who whoever, pick your guy, get him

(16:44):
in there and just get it off John at this point.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Yeah, And that's you know, and that's what I've been
saying forever. It's like, you cannot have John Cena finish
up this run as a heel. He's gotta turn baby
face eventually. And you mentioned you mentioned, you know, him
getting cheered during his version of the pipe bomb, which
was awkward. It was it's it's now, you know, we've

(17:10):
had to deal with this for quite a few years now,
where you know, heels get cheered and everything, and you know,
people are you know, cheering for performances rather than reacting
to the character. I I just think, yes, there's gotta
be there has to be an endgame that that is

(17:32):
happening soon, whether it's Cody, whether it's you know, like
you said, Seth whatever. So a couple of other things,
Jay car Gill winning Queen of the ring Man. That
was a rough match.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
I don't know how to talk about this too.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
They tried.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
I I don't like how the fans did not really
cheer for Jade at all. This seems to be a
habit over there. I don't really care for that.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Now.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
I really like Jade as a person. I've talked to her,
you know, met her, seen her. She's a very lovely person.
She's got a lovely family. I want to what, like,
what does this disconnect with her matches? Now? I just
I just don't understand now, I will say, Uh. Dave

(18:27):
and Brian Uh identified this on the review the other day.
The thing about the women going to the Saudi shows
is they all have to dress up in the catsuits, right,
And I thought that was that was the one thing
I didn't like about the street fight that honestly I
thought over delivered. They all had the same get up. Now,

(18:47):
I will give them a pass because maybe due to
kind of like the world climate, maybe their normal person
couldn't fly, maybe there was issues. I don't, you know,
I'm gonna give them the better fight of a doubt
on that one. But they had pointed out and I
thought this was a really good shout with Jade. She's
got the presentation, but when she's in the latex suit,

(19:08):
you can't see her you know, her physical form, right,
I mean, yeah, you can't see her you know physique.
And that's one of her biggest, you know, strongest presentations
right now. And you know, I don't it seems very
clear to me that there, you know, I feel bad
for her that it seems her destiny is to go

(19:31):
which like and I feel like there's even a bigger
problem is because Tiffany Stratton's kind of just existed as
this kind of weird babyface tweeener that I don't think.
I don't think she's in the position that she needs
to be in. Quite frankly, she I think she's more
positioned as a heel. So she's gonna beat her, put
her in a weird spot, and then they're both gonna

(19:52):
get you know, booed, because supposedly they hope, you know,
Naoma's going to cash in, probably in on Jay and
then are they going to try to build this weird
three way between her, Naomi, and Bianca into WrestleMania.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
That's a long that's.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
A long time, and you know, probably.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
About eight eight nine months.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
He sure loves the plot, that Pauloveci loves the plot,
and I just I don't know what you know is
it would you say they would benefit if Jade was
doing more matches, because I thought this was a very
good note from Brian Alvarez. Jade car Girls only had
one hundred nineteen matches in her entire career. That is

(20:37):
not that is not enough.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
That is not I mean, obviously more reps should help
you get better. Let's not forget she you know, when
she joined w W she went straight to the main
roster and she went you know, they had her like
you know in the the upper mid upper upper mid
card status art. I mean we remember, you know, the

(21:06):
you know, her time in aw they were talking about
how she had had just gone through the Nightmare Factory
and now you know it's this now I do. It
does seem like if if we had to put odds
on who who cash is in first, I would think

(21:28):
Naomi is probably gonna cast she in on whoever wins
between Jade and Tiffany, just because it just seems primed.
The other thing is Naomi is supposedly healed, but I
don't think fans wanted to bow her no.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
And that's another problem because I think everybody's into the
all the little girls, all the all you know, uh
love Naomi because they're all dressing up in the caution
tape that gimmicks actually, which I thought was kind of
a unique, but that's getting over as well people want.
And then you add Bianca to that, how is that
gonna work? That's going to be interesting. I don't know, Sue,

(22:12):
I'm not at the performance center. I do kind of
want to question what are they doing down there at
the performance Center because you know, you supposedly they've been
working with Jay down there, Like I, I, you know,
we don't know. Like I would just like to ask
present questions, what are they doing down there? And maybe

(22:33):
this we should have had, you know, we should have
thought about this sooner. Should they have maybe put Jaden
nxt I just I don't know, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
Yeah, I think you're right. Got to step aside for
a moment. On the other side of the break, Brian's
aland and I will continue recapping Night A Champions plus
everything else that's happening in WWE. That's next on Sports
Guys Talking Wrestling.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
Can you dig it? Dig it sucker? Sucker?

Speaker 1 (23:06):
H this is Booker t five time champ and you're
listening to the Sports Guys Talking Wrestling that Can you
dig it sucker?

Speaker 3 (23:15):
Can you dig it? Sucker?

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Back here on Sports Guys Talking Wrestling, stud Myri Brian
Zylum from Pro Wrestling Torch joins me in studio. Sola's
CoA wins the US title from Jacob Fatu thanks to
the debuting Hickeeleo. Oops, I mean Tala tonga Tala tanga? Really,
I mean, you know it's it's only slightly better than

(23:41):
Shorty g.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
But yes, Tala Tanga has made his debut. We saw
Togo Lowa also return. So my question is, what is
this thing with Solo now? Are we trying to establish
Bloodline three point zero or something?

Speaker 3 (24:06):
I believe, so that's what I gathers do I don't know,
you know, supposedly romans back on the horizon at some point,
whether he's going to be injected on that, I don't know.
I presume that at some way, form or fashion, this
is going to reunite Jimmy and Jay back to the
tag team division. Maybe that's probably my hope. I you know,

(24:27):
it's twenty twenty fives, do we're still doing the same
bloodline stuff? And you know, and I know everybody's already
what's the other fat Too brother that's still out there?

Speaker 2 (24:41):
Zillah?

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Who works?

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Who's wrestling for Brooker and Row?

Speaker 1 (24:46):
I just.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
It's just not interesting to me anymore now. I guess
if you want to take away the positives, maybe long term,
having Jacob, you know, lose the mid card title, this
will kind of maybe that can get him onto bigger
and better things. Maybe who knows, But I kind of
just feel like this is gonna be a lease up

(25:11):
until Survivor series. I feel like this is probably gonna
be the Survivor Series match that they most likely do
for the men. You know, I think the good and
then again, the good thing is Jacob thought to is
so over. He can kind of exist in the silliness
for now. But you know, obviously, if he's not at

(25:34):
least one of a finalists for the Roll Rumble, then
you know, we've definitely missed a plot at some point.
So some people like bloodline stuff too. To me, again,
when you've got you know, Jay, and you've got people
like Sammy, people that you can really attach yourself to

(25:57):
and relate to, obviously Jacob was one of those people.
I don't think any of these collection of people are
really that interesting to kind of like latch onto. I
mean obviously Jacobs, you know, he's his own kind of animal.
I just you know, same same playbook, I guess, and
you know, people like it. That's good on them, But
I will say, not for me, stud not for me.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
I'm not Yeah, I'm not crazy about it either. I'm
just I don't get it. But you know, I guess
they have a I would assume they have a plan
in place. We will see.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
So.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Uh, the other match, Samy Zaying defeats Scurrying Cross. That
was a little bit of a surprise. I think I think
a lot of people were thinking Cross would go over
on that one.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
You know, I don't really know what they're really doing
with this Cross stuff. You know, if I could channel
my inner Bill Simmons Stu, if you'd let me, if
you know, putting putting my ten four hat on.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
I wonder if this was kind of like the situation
where Booking and Creative just wanted to put him out
there just to kind of like give the fans something, you.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Know, appease those that were wanting him.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
After because I think the fans wanted Harrying Cross. He's
a top merch seller, his contracts up soon, but he
he just is, He's.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
There.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
I would say there's a very high standard in even
in twenty twenty five, for in ring quality in WW
and I just don't think Haring Cross is there. It
seems like I don't really know his background as far
as if he's had any issues with back knees. Just
you know, he's an interesting guy. I feel like I

(27:48):
really enjoyed that kind of promo he did after Rustlemania. Yeah,
and I don't he probably wouldn't be a manager. I
think he'd be a really good one. And you know,
Paul Leveck has always been a carrying cross guy, but
I think he has even come to the terms with like,

(28:08):
you know, there's a ceiling for this. There's a ceiling
for this guy. And I have so much other people
ahead of him, and you know, we'll see, but that
that's just my my theory. I think this was kind
of just the pease everybody for the moment.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
Yeah, I think you might be right. And then rear
Ripley defeating Raquel Rodriguez in the street fight. It was weird.
You mentioned the the outfits. Rhea and Raquel looked very
similar to each other with and Sodie Rock Sande, which
that just that was a problem in and of itself.

(28:44):
Otherwise the match was fine, it was filler, it was
you know, all right, any.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
I mean over delivery, I think, I I just sometimes
their chemistry can be hit or missed sometimes. Obviously I
could have gone without the silly finish on the with
the referee holding the table. I just maybe they should
have just pulled a plug on that and did something else.
I was kind of surprised Roxanne didn't help rock Heel win,

(29:17):
just because you know, every judgment day is over and
winning all the titles right now, so I just kind
of figured that was in play. But obviously this that
was set to propel Ria into evolution now to face
the eel Sky.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
So yeah, that was that was a weird choice. But okay, sure,
all right, well that's that's not a champions Let's talk
about what happened the rest of the time. Uh SmackDown
in Saudi Arabia. Julia is now the new women's United
States champion, defeating Zelina Vega. It felt like they did

(29:59):
something nice, was Selena Vega, but in the end, the
rain just didn't didn't meet expectations.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
I guess, well, it'll be interesting to see what they
do with SmackDown now going back to two hours, because
for months now we had three hour Smackdowns and for
whatever reason, all they could find figure out for is
Lena Vega to do is feud with Chelsea Green in

(30:30):
her group. I don't think that's fair for her because
she was she had nothing else. What else was she
supposed to do. I feel like she had the same
match with the collection of three people for months on end,
so she didn't really have a chance. I think it
was a very nice gesture for them to give Selena

(30:52):
the title. I think that was kind of always going
to just be a short term rain, and Julia is
obviously someone they I don't I think maybe she's gotten
lost in the shuffle a little bit, just because you know,
they've brought so many people up, you know, Stephanie Vecuer,
She's probably definitely a lot more over than Julia right now,

(31:16):
so I think they're probably trying to get Julia back
on track. I don't really think she needs the mid
card title. I just to me, if this is one
of their favorites that they like she needs to be,
she's better be wrestling every week. There's no excuse. Yeah yeah,
because if this was just a nice gesture and you
still struggle to find her as Lena opponents for three hours,

(31:38):
was this something you know? Was there anything else to that?
I don't know, But I better see Julia on wrestling
weekly on SmackDown.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
Yeah, uh over on Raw. So the New Day are
no longer the World Tag Team Champions. Finn balor Ja
Da McDonough win the tag titles. It was such, it
was a good match. It was interesting. They booked two

(32:07):
heel tag teams to be against each other, so you
would think the fans would be kind of like, let's
just see him beat each other up, But the fans
actually got behind Finn and JD. Now this new day
heel turn and their their tag title rain, I would

(32:28):
think have both fallen below expectations. They didn't do and
they had They wrestled with three times with the with
the titles.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
The sat I heard today Stu, I think this was
only the second time they've wrestled since they've won the titles.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
Okay, all right, so it just I don't know, it's well,
give me, tell me what. Tell me what you thought
about you know, JD and Finn winning the tag titles.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
I mean, surprise for sure. I just you know, everybody
in the judgment day has gold. Maybe the broader sense
that can help feed into, you know, the the story
with liv coming back as the you know champion babyface
that she'll come back and I'm sure she'll get a
great reaction when she comes back from soldiery surgery. So
speedy recovery for liv Morgan, but that you put so

(33:27):
much time and effort into that that big emotional thing
where they finally turned. I think I don't know if
everybody was just bummed out that they thought this was
going to lead to Big E coming back. I don't know.
I would like to think something happened creatively. It just

(33:50):
seems like they really lost the plot, just because you
could tell even before they won the titles, they were
kind of just there. They were just kind of the
jerks in the back, but there wasn't really anything of substance,
not really. They were kind of just they were just
the guys who turned on Big E and that was it.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
I mean, I hate to say it because they're they're
both wonderful performance, they weren't that entertaining as heels or
they're not that entertaining. I mean, it's it's the it's
the you know, Heel one oh one playbook, and I
I think that that's not gonna cut it anymore. It's just,

(34:29):
you know, it's they're there.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
Yeah. I mean, I will say I think Xavier Woods
is probably for me personally more entertaining on social media
than he is on television. Yeah, that's just me. That's
just for my taste on Okay, I just if that
was the direction. I just I wonder ultimately, should they
have just had Xavier just turn on Kofe then and

(34:51):
you could have splintered and done something else. I just
is that the direction for them both? Now? I mean,
I supposedly there's a draft coming up, but I don't know.
The tag team division as a whole kind of just
feels like a weird obligation. It's it's not it's not
important to them right now because uh, you know, cool
for the Judgment Day. I mean, I'm my hope is

(35:14):
maybe the Judgment Day having the titles can lead into
lead into something else better creatively, just for the divisions
as a whole. But yeah, bummer, because they I felt
like that guy, they did a lot of work with
that that he'll turn and they just a lot of
bad follow ups with these big angles. Suit, there's a

(35:38):
lot of bad follow ups here the past few months,
with these big angles that are not leading to nothing.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
I totally agree. Speaking out of Judgment Day, Rock san
Perez is now part of Judgment Day. She has also
now won half of the women's tag team champions with
Raquel there. It was one of those you know, the
vote the club house. Raquel was bristling, but she begrudgingly,

(36:05):
you know, votes for It feels like this is gonna
be one of those things where rock Sam wins Raquel
over just in time for Live to come back and
then you know, play that play that card. So right, uh,
but it was it was fine. It did I think
I think it did. It did what it was supposed

(36:26):
to do. What did you think?

Speaker 3 (36:28):
I'm very sports entertained by the Judgment Day. I just
to it. You know that, to me, I feel completely
different from them from the supposed to bloodline because you know,
obviously the bloodline are supposed to be these cool killers
and then you know you've got but then you've got
kind of like this cartoonish leader in Solo, which I

(36:49):
think for his credit, I think he's trying to lean
into something because I don't think he was just really
connecting as like kind of like a menacing guy. But
it just doesn't work for what they're trying to trans
late on television. The Judgment day. They can do this.
It's fine, like very don when you have Dom, you
have Finn, you have JD. They can all do this.

(37:11):
They can all be silly in the club. They have
a clubhouse. They can be silly. That's fine. So and
I'm various sports entertained by them. And like I said,
I'm hopeful this will lead to bigger and better things
with Live when whenever she comes back.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
I think you're right. Best wishes to check, uh, to
check Gable underwent shoulder surgery today. You were, you were,
you amused with You know, they have the back, the
Jackie Raymonds talking to Ivy now and and the Creeds,
and then all of a sudden here comes this much

(37:45):
taller Il Grande Americano, which you know it's obviously not
Ludvig Kaiser, but.

Speaker 3 (37:57):
I mean, this is definitely some sports entertainment.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
It is it is sports.

Speaker 3 (38:05):
Well, this help or hurt Ludwig Heuser at all? I don't,
I don't, I don't think. I don't think so. Would
I prefer him being in like a intercontinental title conversation,
of course, because I think he is very talented. And
I still think it's a bummer that him and his

(38:26):
former compatriot didn't work out as a tag team, because
I thought that they were good act So it's just
something for him to do.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
I guess, well, and I've had a problem with this
whole Il Grande Americana, especially now that WW has.

Speaker 3 (38:44):
Triple A eeah that it just it just reeks of
definis something Vince would do.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
Yes, yes, this, yeah, this feels like events Pool. Yes,
but all right whatever.

Speaker 3 (38:59):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
They announced they're gonna do Late Night with Tony Hinchcliff Saturday,
August second in New Jersey during SummerSlam weekend. This okay,
so you know they had him doing the roast after WrestleMania,
non televised, not there's there's no you know, but you know,

(39:23):
I think audio recordings got leaked and it in it
from all reports. Now I have not listened, I haven't
seen anything, but reports was that this was kind of
a dud, and now they decided to do it again.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
Which I'm worried too, because the things that were said
were kind of and not good taste. So I'm wondering
are they going to try to lean in a little
more and try to get a little bit more edgy
and help so that they can get some type of
reaction from the crowds. I don't know. I just I mean,

(40:06):
it's good, it's in their better interests that this is
not televised. Let's say that he obviously leans a certain
way in terms of his comedy, So if this is
not your cup of tea, I can completely understand.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
All Right, there you go Late Night with Tony Hinchcliff
coming Summer Slam weekend. We're gonna take a quick time out.
When come back, we're gonna talk a e w All
in Texas is ten eleven days away, so we're gonna
talk to aw coming up next on Sports Guys Talking Wrestling.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
This is the Worldwide Desperado, the Callahan death Machine himself,
Sammy Callahan. But you're listening to the Sports Guys Talking Wrestling.
Thumbs up, thumbs down. No, actually give them a thumbs
up because they're pretty good.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
Welcome back to Sports Guys Talking Wrestling, Stu Myer, a
big thanks again to Brian's Atham from Pro Wrestling Torch
for stopping by to chat about everything. Uh, we're coming
up on the fourth of July weekend, so I could
only find one event other than another one, but that's
coming here. But there is one event happening this weekend.

(41:40):
It is Metroplex Wrestling bringing you Seeing Red Saturday. At
the NPX Event Center in Bedford, Bell time, APM Central,
Bricks Savage will be there, Tommy Prince, LVJ, Kenny Calypso
and Moore. That's Metroplex Wrestling this Saturday night in Bedford,
and that's a look at independent wrestling around this day
to Texas wherever you may be, go out and support

(42:05):
independent wrestling. By the way, big congratulations Brick Savage. He
is the new Wrestling Revolver Texas Champion. They had that
tournament this past weekend in Bedford at the NPX Arena
there and Brick Savage claiming that title, so big congratulations

(42:25):
to him. As I mentioned, there is one other event
and it's an event that I will be involved with
because it is Inspire Victorious bringing you Possessed by Ecstasy
of Gold. If you know Inspire, throughout their history, Ecstasy
of Gold has been almost a trademark of yearly events.

(42:49):
This one Possessed by Ecstasy of Gold. It will be
this Sunday at the Empire Control Room and Garage on
East Seventh Street, downtown Austin. Well time six pm Central
right now. Ten matches on the card. Exodus Prime will
defend the Undefinable Championship against Ladybird. Ladybird has been on

(43:14):
a roll as of late throughout the independent scene. Let's
see if she can claim the undefinable Championship or can
Exodus Prime keep hold of it. Devin Carter will defend
the Instpire Pro Championship against Will all Day and Danny
O'Ryan in a three way that's going to be interesting.
All three of them salty competitors. Will all Days had

(43:37):
a bit of an attitude change. He's got this stable
I think what was They're called the All Day Guarantee
with Simse and Josiah john Uh and then Danny O'Ryan
just a you know, a scoundrel as you know, as
he always is. If you remember our last event, he

(43:57):
and Meyer World had their had their wedding and it
went into you know, chaos because wrestling weddings almost always
do so. But yeah, that'll be a good match for
the Inspired Pro title for the Pure Prestige Championship My World,
speaking of which she has issued an open challenge for
that title. Let's see who steps up. Could it be

(44:21):
someone that's currently on the Inspire roster. Could it be
a surprise, could it be an outsider? I haven't heard.
Inspire management has not told me. I have no idea,
but I'm looking forward to finding out. On Sunday, a
three way Tornado tag team match for the Twin Dragon

(44:43):
Connection tag team titles. Project Wasteland the new champions Easy
James and Kill a Cash they will find against Ethan
Hunter and j Sky and against the Born Haters Don
Rodrigo and Map the Wrestler Tornado tag rules. So basically
he could be all six men in the ring. Is

(45:06):
he James and Project wastelam winning those titles at our
last event? It's is he James's first title in Inspire
since and he's been an Inspired from day one, and
this is his very first title in Inspired by the
Way ends James the current nw A Texas Champion, so

(45:29):
I'm sure he has got a lot of confidence the
proving ground, t Ray Wattley and Travis Coodie take it
on this all day guarantee of sim Say and Josiah
John t Ray. You know, t Ray and Travis have
kind of built themselves as kind of defenders of Inspire.

(45:50):
Let's see what they can do against simp Say and
Josiah John De Metry, Alexandrov will face the Great Depression.
That's gonna be an intriguing match, you know, Dmitr Alexandrov,
the bear Fight, the Bloody Bear Fighter, the death Match Jesus,
and then you got Great Depression, who has been with
Inspire again practically since day one. He is a mystery,

(46:15):
He is a enigma. How does Dimitri you know, strategize
against them? That's gonna be a big question. Dama McCullough,
who will be making his debut and Inspire of course,
a big, tough individual, you know, wrestles a lot in
the Dallas Fort Worth area. He is making his Inspired debut,

(46:38):
will be facing Buckets the Clown. Another interesting matchup, Jack
Calloway taking on just Nick taking on Houston Hendrix and
just Nick having an attitude change as well. Uh, these
three individuals are gonna mix it up. Jack Calloway of course,

(46:58):
the current mister Inspire, Delanne Caven's Caven's taking on another debut,
another debuting wrestler in Santana Jackson. That should be a
fun one. And then a special attraction match, And this
one I am so thrilled for because this is involving

(47:21):
four individuals whose very first matches I got to call
as part of the Roads Wrestling Academy, Wayne and Whitet Roads.
The Roads Brothers will face Vin Parker in Ausy. Now,
Ozzie and Vin Parker don't usually tag together. Usually it's
Ossy and Hit. In fact, Ozzy and Hit currently the

(47:43):
current Roags Wrestling Association Tag team champions. But Ozzy's gonna
tag with Vin Parker to take on Wayne and White Roads.
That'll be a special attraction match. I'm looking forward to
that one. So all in all, should be a fun
night in Inspire Victorious Possessed by Ecstasy of Gold This
coming Sunday, Empire Control Room and Garage in downtown Austin.

(48:10):
I say it every time, and I'll keep saying it.
If you haven't been to an Inspire show, I really
encourage you to come out. You will enjoy yourself. There's
great wrestling, a lot of fun Empire Control Room Garage.
They've got great drinks and it's it's just a great atmosphere.

(48:30):
It's in the shade. It's in under the big tent,
so it's a big you know you're shading, You're not
sitting there in the sun. So as I said, come
on out, I think you will have a lot of fun.
You will enjoy it. Of course, I'll be doing commentary
along with Eric Badoura and Emily may Uh. It will
be I think it'll be on YouTube. I think we

(48:53):
may be streaming live on YouTube. I haven't seen, but anyway,
come on out Inspire Victorious this Sunday at the Empire
Control of Mgarage in downtown Austin. One other note, neuge
Bampur Wrestling had the Tana Hashi Jam this past Sunday
in Nagoya. It was it was a televised event. It
was shown on Japanese television, but it was not on

(49:15):
NJPW World, which was interesting because they had a title
change and it was the their their top title. Heroki
Goto is no longer the ISWGP Worldhavyweight Champion. He lost
that title to Zach Saber Junior a thirty minute match.

(49:36):
At the end go too could not answer the refs
count or it was a referee stoppage rather, so Zach
Saber Junior for the second time the ISWGP World Havyweight Champion. Interesting,
so Goto did not have the longest reign, but it
was decent. Meanwhile, Saber getting the title think a little forward.

(50:06):
August twenty fourth, AEW and New jamanar Wrestling for Bidden
Door at the O two in London. Could Zach Saber
Junior still be champion when that event rolls around. It's
very possible. I mean we're talking less than two months.
Could he be defending that title on that on that

(50:28):
show and against two? I read a I read an
arcle today. I think it was actually I think it
was it was Wrestling Observer. I think it was Dave
Miltrom fact speculating about Oh no no, he wasn't no, no, no,
he wasn't no no, I forgive me, no, it was not.
It was justin Brosso we had had I had justin

(50:50):
on last week when we were talking about his blog Undisputed,
and he had a he wrote an arcle where he
speculates how it is it's not outside the realm of
possibility that maybe Zach Saber Junior ends up facing Kenny

(51:10):
Omega ends up facing Kazuchka Okada, two men that are
practically synonymous with that title. Well, especially Okada. Okata has
actually held that version of the title. I don't think
Kenny Omega did. Can Omega held the previous the IWGP

(51:31):
Heavyweight Championship, but just something to watch. It could and
it could be somebody else. It could be, you know,
one of the younger guys. It could be one of
the younger guys in ae W. But that might be
something to keep an eye on.

Speaker 1 (51:48):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (51:49):
But yeah, congratulations Zach Saber Junior, the new IWGP World
Heavyweight Champion. Ah, that'll do it for this week. Sports
guys talking. By the way, Yes, I will be in
Arlington next weekend. Next week same you know, we'll preview
all in Texas. As it stands, I suspect there will

(52:11):
be a media conference call with Tony Kahn. I will
bring you that as well. And then yes, I will
be heading up I thirty five to Arlington to take
in not only aew OL in Texas, but Ring of
Honor Supercart of Honor. They're at the Esports Stadium in Arlington.
And then of course we'll recap everything the following week
but it'll be fun. But yeah, next week we'll preview everything.

(52:33):
I'll preview everything. So as I said that, that'll do
for this week. Sports guys talking wrestling. You can follow
