Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is WW superstar Seth freaking Rollins And you're listening
to sports guys talking wrestling. Still about that laugh when
they're not covering the sports world. They're talking about the
world or professional wrestling. It's sports guys talking wrestling. Now

(00:20):
here's Stu Myrick. It is sports guys talking wrestling. Stu
Myrick here. He decided to come back a little early.
But that's okay because had a great couple of weeks.
And before we get on all that, of course, I

(00:42):
had to bring in a buddy of mine, longtime radio colleague.
He is the one, the only, so Eddie, the one
and only.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
What's up stew We.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Let's see, well, let's see okay. So, so the last
show was August twelve, I think. So since then, I
have turned fifty seven. Nice turned fifty seven. One week later,
on the nineteenth, I have retired, so jealous, thirty one
and a half years working in Texas state government. Wow,

(01:15):
so I will, I will have a pension for life somehow.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
You haven't lost all your hair?

Speaker 1 (01:20):
I have not. And I went to a Ruba, which
was just I mean, it was my second time to Ruba.
Spent six days there and dear lord, I mean, oh,
it's paradise.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Like, I don't know how you came back.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
I it was. There were there were thoughts. There were thoughts,
believe me.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah. On the beach it.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Was. I mean, spent three days on the beach, one
of them on a beach with lingos and an iguana,
which was really fun. Wow, it was beautiful. It was
just beautiful.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
You know everything you just said, tops what I've done.
And I've had a pretty good month myself turned forty eight,
all right. It spent a long weekend in Nashville. Okay,
went to a Titans game to hate on them in
person because they stole my oilers.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
I went to Nashville SC soccer match, all right, only
the second MLST game I've been to in person. Also,
I don't know if you remember that the time I.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Went with you.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
It was at the end of the aulstin FC's first season.
They scored the fastest goal in team history and won
like four to one. Yeah, they also scored almost a
record fastest goal in Nashville SC history and won like
five to one.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Okay, I am.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
A lucky charm. MS needs to pay me to go
to games.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
I think that's why I think that's it. We need
to you need to get the fault yet McConaughey to say,
Eddie has a you know spot at QK Stadia.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Yeah. And then Saturday I went to see a Motley
down at Antone's Hot as Balls. Great show, of course.
And it's almost my eighth year at my job, and
I can barely fathom thirty years.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Yeah, thirty thirty one and a half total.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
You started when I was seventeen.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
That would make I was so it was ninety it
was January of ninety four. I was a clerk at
Department of Public Safety. So I was twenty five.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Yeah, that was halfway through my yeah, junior five years old,
so I don't know, halfway through my senior year in
high school.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Twenty five years old. I had been married less than
a year.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
So yeah, yeah, So but I am back. I dig
catch up on wrestling a little bit. The last couple
of days. I actually did watch Dynamite while while I
was in a Ruba thanks to nord VPM. Oh wow, nice,
I did watch Dynamite there you know the kickoff of

(04:14):
their residency. They're at twenty three hundred arena. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
You can really waste the whole weekend trying to catch up.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Yeah, well I did not, you know, I didn't go
that deep, but yeah, you know I looked at stuff.
So I want to let's start first. And this was
kept pretty hush hush, but congratulations to Cody and Brandy Rhodes. Yeah,

(04:40):
the birth of their second child.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
What's with all these babies all of a sudden.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Leilani Ella was born on this past Friday. Yeah, fantastic name.
So Libby now has a little sister, all right, And yeah,
it was but this this was it was not known.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
That's like a Brandy just hasn't been on the road
for a while.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Well, she hadn't be on the road anyway, she didn't.
She didn't like never, she doesn't wrestle, I know, but
right now she's doing she's got a plate studio and
she just opened up a children's boutique or something like that.
Oh okay in Atlanta. But she hadn't been seen on
the on air or anything. So and it was no

(05:28):
And you know Cody Roads, did you know they had
the Drew McIntyre booted him, you know, down there to
ride him off so he could go do a street fighter. Yes, yea.
So but then all of a sudden, oh, hey they
have a second child's But congratulations Cody and Brandy. That's
you know, that's going to be wonderful for the for

(05:50):
you know, for that family.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Do you know if they had the kid in the
US or in Australia.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
I think it was here, Okay, pretty sure it's here.
Just wondering, no little thing. Kind of on the opposite end,
uh in the video went viral, you know, quite a
bit real Ripley. So there was a video of her.
She was walking i think to an uber and a
fan came up to ask for a allograph, which okay,

(06:19):
and then before we know it, she was mobbed to
the point where she was pressed up against Yeah. She
posted on X on social media. You know, look where
human beings you got to give a space. And this
isn't the first time this has happened to Rhea and

(06:40):
it kind of it kind of goes to the point of, look,
it's I get that that fans are excited to see
their favorite wrestler. It's you and I have worked in
sports radio forever. In a day, We've seen you know,
athletes it you know, get swarmed.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Yeah, they definitely want swarm in us. There. We've seen other.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
People, you know, you know all the time that'd go
Super Bowl Radio Row and there would be people camped
out outside where we would be doing radio row with
their myriad of items and whatever. Look, I get it,
you're you're excited, but you gotta you gotta give them space.

(07:29):
You gotta let them be people. Let them be people,
Let them do their thing.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
And when Matthew McConaughey, before he started being on the
sideline all the time, his suite was above our season
tickets and he would like come down pregame just like
pass through the crowd to get to this field. And
every now and then you knew when he was coming
because or sometimes you would throw sandwiches.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Look, I there were there were times on radio road
Super Bowl I still remember. I think this was I
think it was San Francisco, and they had they actually
had a like a blocked off little walkway fans could
buy a ticket to walk through radio row. Now it

(08:16):
wasn't like they couldn't get in where we were. It
was barricaded and everything. And it was that Friday Cuba
Gooding Junior showed up on radio row. They were promoting
one of his movies, and it was just a mass
of humanity wherever he would go.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
You know, it's like watching Tiger Woods play.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Golf twenty nineteen, the Dell Technologies match play, same thing,
and yeah, I remember I'm sitting on I'm sitting at
the green at eleven, and it was it was they
had the they had it. The tea was up top,
and you had this body of water. It was a

(08:59):
great spot. And when Tiger got up there and he
hits his t shot and they have to walk down
this hill, this massive humanity following him, it was nuts.
I mean, so yeah, all that penning up against the
you know, they get like I said, they get you know,

(09:22):
at airports, at restaurants. I'm just saying, look, be respectful.
These are these are people. They have lives. They are
not just the wrestler you see on TV. They are humans.
Be respectful. Don't do don't don't be one of those

(09:43):
manic fans that just you know, that just bull rushes them.
It's just it's awful, and and it's.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
You know what's funny is that if you think about it,
like some people want to blame like old social media
and phones, I'm like, you know, it's been happening since
the beat at least.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
It's it's always no I will say. And and it
is a little bit of a brag on Austin. For
some reason. In Austin, celebrities come here and people are
kind of cool. Yeah, And I don't it's not a
it's not like, you know, we see a lot of
celebrities in Austin, but we see our fair share.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
We do. Yeah, but at the airport.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Most part, Austin Heights are usually pretty cool about it.
They're like, okay, that's cool. You know.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Like a few years back on our birthday, I met
Dave Chappelle downtown on uh that's six fifth over by
the old Antzeons. Yeah, and you know, he had like
one security guy kind of keeping people away from his
little area of the bar, and there are people trying
to get in and take pictures. But for the most part,
it wasn't that big a deal. He went to the restroom,

(10:54):
like all the way through the bar. You know, Austin
bars are just young and skinny, and you know, there
are people talking to him or trying to and but
he was able to get through. Yeah, he came back
through I was able to say hi, but it was
all almost normal.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
It was chill, Yeah, it was chill. So yeah, just
give these folks there, give the wrestlers their their room,
give them their space. I promise it would be much better.
You'd be much better off.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Prom We're gonna blame this one on the Europeans.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
But I did see, and I think that's part of it,
because you know, we saw it with Clash in Paris
and SmackDown and Raw. The fans are absolutely rabid, they
are so yeah, I think that thing might be something to.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
That could be and I did see. I think that
The very next day they had a security escorting Roxy
Roxy and her car. So they did fix it or
come up with the station pretty quickly. I mean, like
you got giant men. Absolutely make them welcome to the cars.
It's pretty easy.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
So, speaking of Clash in Paris, we'd have class in
Paris on Sunday, thirty something thousand in the arena.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Also, thank you for putting it on Sunday. I appreciate
that it was on.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Yeah, he was on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Supposed to be or PELI sorry, I mean.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
I always do this. Give me a letter grade for
clash in Paris.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
Oh, man, I'm gonna say it b minus.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
That's about what I would say. Yeah, it was okay,
it wash.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
I mean they finally did something smart, putting Becky with
the Vision. Yeah, but the fact that both of them
retained annoys me. You have the crowd like that, give
them something you know.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Well and and it speaks to it also speaks to
what they did on wrong with bron Breaker and Bronze
Reid beating j Uso in l a Night. It seems
like every match involving one or more members of the
Vision ends the same way, which it's old school four Horsemen.

(13:12):
It is old school four I get it all interference
and I'm not and I'm not I'm not. I'm not
that against it, but I don't I'm not sure you
can do what they did with the Horsemen back in
they I don't think you can do that today.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
What annoys me is that, you know, if you see
this happening week after week, and none of the wrestlers,
none of their characters are smart enough to have someone
watch their back, all of a sudden, there's there's never
anyone forming a coalition against the other guys, Like, how
long did it take for people to start forming up
against the bloodline together. I mean, are we all idiots?
You're right, I know it's a story, but make the

(13:55):
story more realistic. You're not gonna wait there and try
and take it on three people every freak and week.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
John Cena beating Logan Paul. That was actually a pretty
good match.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
It was a lot of false finishes. I can do
a little less of those.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
I can too. I did a job and I think
it was I think it was Simon Miller. I heard
him talk about, you know, and this has been happening
for years. They need to start protecting finishers. Yes, because
having having being you know, kicking out of your finisher repeatedly,

(14:29):
it's kind of a lot of diminishion returns. By the way,
what we're watching n X T Trick Williams is in
the ring. He's got the TNA World Championship on upside down. Now.
I don't know if that's on purpose or if it's
just somebody didn't catch it. Maybe knowing him, knowing him,

(14:50):
he may be on purpose.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
It'd have to be. You think by now he knows
which side of the snaps as the snaps.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
You would you would think you would think.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Maybe he just likes to read his name upside well,
except I don't.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
I think the TNA World title has a nameplate. I
don't think so.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
It is a good looking though, it is pretty built.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
But yeah, seeing that Paul, that was that was pretty
good match. Yeah, Logan Paul, you know, And I have
never had a problem with Logan Paul skill. He is
skilled in the ring. I'm just not a fan of him.
I couldn't care less about his podcast or his YouTube
or whatever. You know. And yes, I'm old man screaming

(15:31):
into the cloud.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
No, no, I'm with you, man. My problem isn't that
he's him, because he does a good job in the ring.
But like like Sina said, was he had like twenty
something matches in four years. Yeah, every time you see
him in the ring, it's against the Hall of Famer.
He's all the way at the top. Yeah, I need
to see him in like a feud with uh Gacy

(15:53):
for a while.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Well, and that's the thing, and I've been saying this
for many weeks now. WW is not about It's not
the old school anymore. It's all about the moment. They
don't care about, you know, working your way up it's
all about the moment and like they don't. It's all
about getting the getting the views or whatever. And that's
what you know, that's what Logan Paul gets them.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
He gets them, and they're not worried about his longevity. Yeah,
because if they were, they just started them off maybe
a little slower and built him up on. But no,
it's just like all of a sudden.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
Uh, Roman Reigns gets the win over Bronson Reid and
then gets stretchered out courtesy of a beat down by
Reading Bron breaker.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Man. Bron really launched himself on that one. God, yeah,
I thought I didn't think it was gonna have any
momentum left by the time he got there.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
The Wyatt Six retaining the w W Tag Team Championships
with their win over the Street Profit that one.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
I didn't like because I like them better when they're chasing.
They're more sinister, more evil, creepier.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
When I've heard I've heard some people, you know, saying
that they're heels, Well, I don't think they're heels, because
they're just I don't know, they're just they get too
many cheers. They're also it is it seems pretty obvious
they are teasing a breakup of the Street Province, which

(17:23):
it's been a long time coming. I think there's been
there have been called, there's been a call to split
them up for a couple of years now.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
I don't like that.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
I'm not crazy about it, but I'm not I'm not
as heartbroken about it as some of the teams because, yeah,
I'd be interested in seeing seeing who, you know, who
is the Shawn Michaels And who's the Marty Janetty.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
You know it's Montez for it, I think so. Yeah,
And that's the thing I'm worried about Dawkins if they
do split up, because.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
I and I like Dawkins. Yeah, you know, I'm all
about the big bruiser, you know, so hey, but.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
He didn't have near as much personal on his montage.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Yeah, let's see. Becky Lynch retains the Intercontinental title over
Nikki Bella.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Yeah, no one was ever a wonder that.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
Yeah, Russe beats seamous in the good old Donnie Brooke match.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
That one, doubt, and that was fun to watch because
I had no idea what was gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Now that one. That's that's one that you did. That's
probably the one that you most did not know who
was going to win. It was going to be just
a just a fight.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
The the way how they get up on the barrels,
I don't even remember how that happened.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
I just look up and climbed up there, and then
on top of barrels, Russev hits the hits the acolyte
on on Shamus up there. Have you seen the memes
how that's becoming the new Cracker barrel go. It's just funny.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
You know, those things must have been really submitted down
her way down to hold those guys.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
Probably this guy that had been and or you know something.
So so anyway, you know, like I said, it was,
it was an okay show. I think the the crowd
kept it from being a sea I'll be honest. The

(19:20):
crowd was nuts. The crowd was nuts on SmackDown Friday night,
and leon crowd was nuts Monday night on Raw Uh.
Speaking of SmackDown, Sammy Zaying, congratulations Sammy Zay the new
United States Champion.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
I was really surprised they pulled the trigger because I
am he doesn't do title changes.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
I am too, I'm a little surprised.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
We can start on my ice title on Monday.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
I'm like, come on, man, ye know, but he beat
Solo so CoA and you know it was it was
a great moment there in France. Uh, the Kubookie Warriors
were on Raw and Oscar has become this, for lack

(20:03):
of better term, a bully. She was telling, you know,
Rhea and Nikki Bella that they're not EO's friends, and
and Kyrie saying's you know, standing back there like kind
of like a meek little you know, I mean now
like a little sister. I don't know. I'll be honest,

(20:26):
I don't know. There's going to be a heel turn.
We know it's likely going to be Osca. It seems like,
I mean, on the on the surface, it looks like
Oscar by herself.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Let's say, the question is who gets Kyrie saying.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
That's going to be the interesting thing. Now, I would
think that the easiest thing would be Kyrie will turn with.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
Her, No the easy The best thing is they fight.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
For Kyrie saying on the pole match yes.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
Winner gets Kyrie saying yeah, puhar cage above the ring.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
There is the moment where it was announced so Naomi
had to vacate the women's World title because of her pregnancy.
Congratulations to Naomi and Jimmy on the on their impending birth.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
I'm just like I was watching that. She had such
a great run. She's really coming into something new, but
it's something she wanted. She was gonna be huge, well,
they and now she's going to be huge a different way.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
That's right, So they have Adam Pearce did announce that
at Wrussell Palooza, which is September twentieth on ESPN. I
it's gonna be Stephanie Backer taking on EO Sky for
the vacant women's world title. By the way, we haven't
talked since then. What do you think about ESPN becoming

(21:55):
the new home for Pelice?

Speaker 2 (21:57):
Luckily, I already have it, so I don't have to
pay extra together it. It really doesn't matter as long
as I can start it late. Yeah, and don't and
I'm not forced to start in the middle. Luckily for everyone.
ESPN has been running UFC pay per views for a
two years now, so they should have.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
All their apparently those are going to.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
Not Netflix Paramount. Yeah, but at least they've got their
servers up to speed to where they can handle a
few million out of time. For these pls. Yeah, because
at the beginning ESPN was crap for UFC.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
Yeah, yeah, but they've got they've got I think they've
got that figured out. You will see on September twentieth, which,
by the way, yes, it is the very same day
as aw all out in Toronto.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Let's talk about this man.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
Hold on, we'll we'll get and we'll get to that.
We'll get to that. Ah. But yeah, that'll be that'll
be interesting with ESPN running the pls now, starting with
Russell Paloza September twenty in Indianapolis, so.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
We'll get plenty of the what's his face? Who's the punter?

Speaker 1 (23:11):
Oh Pat McAfee. Yeah, apparently he's off to film a
movie or something like that. Well he's doing he does
College Game Day on ESPN. He was, he was on
there Saturday, you know, to send off Lee Corso, which
that was really that was really nice. Who of course,
I can't you can't can't get uh Dominic Masteria retaining

(23:34):
the Intercontinental title over a j Styles. I thought that.
I thought that was a mistake. Mistake you you all
you had once again had uh El Grande Americano, who
apparently is being played by Luke Kaiser much more grande,

(23:55):
much more grande. Yes, he's much more grande than Chad Gable.
So but yeah, he had him interfered do the loaded
mass thing with a headbut to the arms or But
it's as hot as that crowd was for AJ and
I think everybody wants to see aj Styles win that title. Yes,
and maybe they get to it, but I just again,

(24:19):
I think I think they they missed a moment there.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
I agree completely, And I know they're building up dom
and he's doing a great job with it, but if
you take that title off of him, then World's Collide
is much more interesting. I agree, because with him having
the icy title, he almost knows for certainly he's not
gonna beat the Kingo.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
I don't think so. Now I could be wrong.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
I mean, hey, he comes in with no title.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
It's w W now running things.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
So yeah, you know, it seems like the Mexican crowd
doesn't like the Kingo that much.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
Yeah, because well, and there's a there's a reason it's Yeah,
it was before WW took over the king Go defeated Alberto.
I think it was Alberto. So Alberto was going after
the triple and make a championship.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
He was the champion.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Oh, he was champion. Kingo beat him. And it's apparently
the crowd liked Alberto.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
Yeah, but WW didn't want Alberto as a champion because
of his pat They don't.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
They don't want anything to do with Alberto. That's why
you haven't seen him. So Becky Lynch confronting see him
punk on Raw, which has led to much speculation that
a J Lee is coming back. I I don't know.
I I guess. I mean, that's fine, and they're gonna

(25:39):
be fans. They're gonna be a lot of fans. They're
gonna be happy about that.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
And I don't get it, Like I don't have a
problem with aj Lee.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
No, I was never a huge fan. Yeah, I'm the
same one.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
I'm like, she didn't really impress me or anything. And
it was kind of, you know, the Divas era he was,
So she's like a smaller Nikki Bella.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
I agree. So they just seem like it's so it's
likely gonna be punking a j against Seth and Becky.
I don't know. I don't think it happens at Wressell Paluza,
although it's very possible. I it could be what's October November?

(26:26):
What's October? I forget anyway, Well.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
I've heard that they want us to dwarf Class in Paris.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
Well they want they want Rescaluza to dwarf all Out, so.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Well that's the other thing. But but because if they
because they want so, they're unloaded up. Yeah, they're loading
up to because of all Out so to be much
better than Class and Paris. So maybe they're saving one
of these title changes for that. Give a the damn title.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Yeah, I agree, I agree. Uh, we're gonna take quick
time out and we'll come back. We'll talk some a you,
including a recap of Ring of Honors Death before Dishonor
that's coming up next on Sports Guys Talking Wrestling. Yeah,

(27:14):
this is my moment to shine. This is my fun
I've been trying for. This is Sammy Gavara, the best ever.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
Mister Money's with mister right, mister everything.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
And I'm here to tell you, yes you right now,
at this moment you're listening to Sports Guys and Talking wrestling.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
Be careful, lomfa them.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
It's taking it. Welcome back to Sports Guys Talking Wrestling.
Stu Myrick Adie Cross here. Ring of honor death before
Dishonor happened this past Friday at the twenty three hundred
Arena formerly known as the E. C. W Arena there
in South Philly. Uh there it was. It was an

(27:56):
okay show from all reports. I didn't I did not
watch it because I was on a plane coming back
from Aruba. So from what I hear, it was a
good show. Bandido still the Ring of Banna World Champion
defeating Hetcheesero. He's also, of course one half of the

(28:16):
a W World Tag Team Champions with Brody King, so
that's that's still cool. The big story Sammy Gavara after
he and the Van Erks lost the six man titles
to Shane Taylor Promotions Shane Taylor, Carl Bravo and Sean Dean. Uh.

(28:37):
It was so he had they had booked a tag
title match against the Outrunners. It was gonna be Sammy
Gavar and a mystery partner, and they made it sound
like it was going to be one of the von Erics.
Well no it wasn't. It was Rouge. They get to win.

(29:00):
Ross and Marshall go out there going, hey, what's going
on here? You know, Sammy's trying to play mediator and
everything gives him a hug, and then Sammy super kicks
Ross and it ends up. Sammy Gavar has now joined
La Faccio and Ingo Beinales. He and Rouche are the

(29:21):
Ring of Honor roll tag team champions. Of course, remember
this is coming off you know, Dustin getting double knee
replacement surgery. So Sammy is heel again. He's joined ALFHI,
which I'm not crazy about that.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Honestly, I'm okay with it because he needed something with
Dustin being gone.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
He needs something. But he's not an ALFHI guy. I
don't think and I you know, and look, I've known
I've known Sammy Guitar for close to ten years now,
you know. On top of that, they keep putting him
in factions. He was in the Faction, he was in
every faction with Chris Jericho, you know. Then he became

(30:07):
Babyface Sons of Texas with Dustin and Bronston Marshall. Now
he's with LFI I mean, I'm not It's not horrible,
but I'm just I don't know. It misses something.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Well, he'll definitely be the best English speaker in the faction,
so maybe that'll maybe he'll be more of the mouthpiece. Yes,
he he is has he never really been the mouthpiece,
so maybe he'll be kind of leader. But what annoys
me most out of that is not paying off the outrunners.
How many times can they are they gonna tease us
with him being this close to a title. I was like,

(30:43):
if anytime they're gonna get a title, it'll be the
tax titles against Sam.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
And see, that's the thing. I think you're starting to
see kind of the the the fervor over the out
runners starting to diminish a little bit by the way
they're going to They never pay anything off. They're gonna
be here. When's the next r w A show it is?

(31:12):
Let me look, I believe it's September twenty first, he
is the next Rose Wrestling Association show, and they're going
to be here.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Well, you know you lose thes never pay anything off.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
Yeah, I agree, Like if every.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
Time they face someone with a big name they end
up losing, Yeah, they're gonna lose s team at some point.
You want to keep more people towards the top. Pay
the crop off man. Yeah, at least if they had
seen if they had won the title, and maybe they
get attacked by Alfi and while they're celebrating, you could
have done the same heel turn, the same thing with

(31:46):
von Erics, but the out runners would have belts.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Yeah the whim you know. So this is be nice
to Tony. Tony likes this. The long awaited Women's Pure
Championship tournament has finally kicked off, Queen Queen Almanada advancing

(32:09):
with a win over ty A Valkyrie. So we will
see a women's Pure champion type ground eventually. My guess
will be see this is September, all right, so final
battle is in December. It's usually first part of December.

(32:29):
I could see.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Is that the next one.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
That'll be there? That's there? That's the usual next pay
per view for Ring of Honor. That's possible, we'll see.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
I don't know if they thrush out that long. That's
a ways to go. But I'm trying to remember the
bracket off the top of my head because I was
picking a winner. I think I'm gonna go write this down.
Serena Deep, Serena Deep is in the is in the bracket,
Serenit Deep first r OH Women's Peer Champion.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
Yeah, that's that's pretty good. Pretty good choice.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Again pay something off people.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Let's see.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
She doesn't have to keep it firs. The bracket I'll
look forward to, he says Billy Stark.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
Billy Starks is on that You're right. Here we go.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
Uh, she's on the right side of the bracket. Let's side.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Okay, here you go.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
Now, let's I've slept since then, Let's see if I
can pull.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
It up here and here we go. Okay, so uh.
Deanna Parrazzo will take on Trisha Door winner will meet
Queen Amanada on the other side of the bracket, Billy
Starks and Olympia. I would assume either cmll or Stardom. Yeah,

(34:00):
and then serenade taking Ony Kazakazaki.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
So uh and yes the finals, No, that's not it.
No Turnery Kins de Soner. They do not list when
the finals are gonna be.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
Okay, see, I'm a big fan of Bianna and Queen
Amanada and don't make me choose.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
Yeah, I'm a big fan of Deanna Parazzo as well.
So m a you to be kicked off their residency
at twenty three hundred Arena with dynamite last week. Look great,
it's funny. It really looked great.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
It's fun to see just a lot of stuff happening
at that arena.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Seeing Darby Allen climb up that pillar to do the
coffin drop, that was. That was pretty fun.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
They're they're throwing him around like Spike Dudley.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
They that's that's Derby, I know, but that's that's just
what Darby does.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
And he really is paying how much the spike. This
is the way that they tells him around. It's it's scary.

Speaker 1 (34:59):
We do have a match for all Out Adam Copeland
Christian Cage, who had a successful run at Forbidden Doors
Music Factory. Hey, there you go. They will face FTR
at all Out on September twentieth, which is the same
day as ww's Wrussell Palooza. Let's talk about this counterprogramming.

(35:24):
This is so stupid, man, it will Yuess you're right.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
Especially when your your event is one that people can
watch later. Usually aw pay per views, you have to
watch at the time. Yeah, I mean there's possibly watching later,
but usually you need to catch that one in the moment. Yeah,
if it's on Peacock or ESPN, I can come in

(35:50):
two hours later. Let's start watching it.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
Well, but he's not even that it's not even that.

Speaker 2 (35:55):
It's just the Oh that's just first.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
The fact, yeah, the fact that WW it feels like
they have to do this. Yeah, a it it makes
you think AEW is a bigger threat to them than
previously thought of. B It's it's petty, Yeah, it's and pointless.

(36:18):
It is pointless.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
If I don't watch AW and I just watched WWE,
there's no point in putting it against AW. If I
watch both and I have to make a choice, I'm
gonna watch the one that I have to watch in
the moment and the other one I can start later.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
Yeah, yeah, I'm there with you. And now a lot
of people will think about, well, okay, but I've got
to pay fifty bucks for the AW pay per view,
whereas well, if I if I subscribe to the ESPN app,
I don't have to pay for.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
Well, you're already doing that on peacock. So if you
weren't gonna pay the fifty bucks, you weren't gonna pay
the fifty bucks either way.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
But it's not fifty bucks for event, for the event,
like I paid fifty bucks for the years.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
No, I mean, if you're going to pay fifty bucks
for a w if you if you didn't want to
pay fifty bucks for a w you just weren't going
to do it anyway, right, I agree. So yeah, and
then I heard the oh maybe they want to they're
looking at it possibly buying TNA in the future, and
didn't want that to be the secondary promotion I've heard.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
Yeah, there, I think there was a rumor. I think
the prevalent rumor right now is they want to buy
TNA's tape library. Yeah, because of course, which makes and look,
you you look at everybody that's gone through TNA over
over the twenty plus years that they've been around. You.

(37:39):
You know, we we mentioned them in the first segment.
AJ Styles was the face of TNA, Yeah for so long. Yeah,
but you look at guys like oh who El Motorcy
machine Guns had a tremendous run TNA back in the day.
Uh Chris Saban is a former t and a world champion.

(38:03):
It's uh Panta and Ray Phoenix, the Lucha Brothers, former
TNA world tag team champ.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
Don't forget all the old guys that were back there too. Yeah,
it's yes.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
Yeah, so I could see that now. You know, of course,
the the you know, the whole the talk about what's
gonna happen with all these video libraries that w W
owns now. You know, right now it looks like they're
basically using them on the on their various Vault YouTube
channels ww Vault, wcw Vault whatever. So there is thought

(38:43):
that ESPN could find a way to utilize that. We'll see.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
I hope I hate the REPP so.

Speaker 1 (38:50):
Uh but yeah, so copling Cage against FTR at all
Out in Toronto, Darby Allen beating Claudio chastic and a
false count anywhere match and oh, by the way, the
fall happened in the ring. I love you, Tony, Tony,

(39:10):
I love you, but man, if you're gonna have a
falls count anywhere match, make sure the fall happens somewhere somewhere.
It could happen, you know, right next to the rings.
Is it not in the ring? Because because you just
made that, you just made that that. Yeah, that sipulation pointless.
Like I said, Lake Monroe is bleeding gotten a scrap

(39:37):
with Jordan Grace. After the show went off air, Tony
Khan comes down and honors Taz. Of course they're in
the old e c W arena. Uh, his wife came down.
Of course, Hook, his son and most of the roster
had teen taz T shirts. It was. It was fantastic.

(39:58):
The video is on a w YouTube channel. Check it out.
It's really cool. I you know, uh, you know, I'm
sure it was. It meant a lot for him to
be back in that arena where he talk about spilling blood.
He spilt a lot of blood in that area.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
And this time in that arena he actually knew he
was going to get his pay check. Yes, yes, yeah,
that's and by the way, Hook's new music sucks.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
Yeah, I'm not great crazy about it. Apparently there was.
I think it's it's a you know, uh, a licensing
issue or something like that. I've been there, by the way,
So they're showing Lola Ice walking through the Little Havana
in Miami, which is where I stayed when Super Bowl
fifty four. Was there. Really, yes, we stayed in Little Havana,
had a blast. There's a bar there, there's a bar there,

(40:47):
and along the top of the bar all these lucha masks.
It was fantastic. It was great solatre apparently on collision,
so Daniel Garcia is getting whispered to by John Moxley.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
Yeah, and then challenges.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
Again, Yeah, I hope we're not trying to put Garcia
into the Death Riders. I'm I mean, I've been calling
for them to start start breaking up.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
Well that's what we.

Speaker 1 (41:18):
Don't need them anymore, That's.

Speaker 2 (41:20):
What I originally thought they were doing. But then at
the end of the match he challenged Moxley again. Yeah,
it just I have no idea what's going on.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
The other thing that happens, So Hologram had a match
with Jay Lethal, the greatest first generation wrestler of all time.
As he will tell you, they forgot he was alive.
Hologram gets the win, and then they they have the
the glitch and the music glitches, and then you see
the code showing up on the screen clone activating apparently,

(41:50):
so there's gonna be a clone of Hologram, I guess
the Evil Hologram or something like that, saying they're gonna
do the that. It's uh, the the rumor rumor in
you w Indo had its uh as he was he
was in he was in Triple A. He was also

(42:13):
on Luca Underground for a bit, so he will be
the one donning the Evil Hologram mask whenever that happens.

Speaker 2 (42:20):
So yeah, I mean, we barely see Holograham as it is,
and all of a sudden he's got a bizarro hologram.

Speaker 1 (42:31):
Yeah, it makes no sense, but hey, I'm sure it'll
be fun for the kids they.

Speaker 2 (42:37):
Doing in the back rooms over there.

Speaker 1 (42:38):
Man, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (42:41):
Did you see that video I sent you on Instagram?

Speaker 1 (42:44):
Yes, I saw that.

Speaker 2 (42:44):
Mister T's daughter, Yes, I saw that.

Speaker 1 (42:46):
That was funny. If you do, you haven't seen it. Uh,
the daughter of mister T, who was a comedian, Yeah,
telling a story about about her father in Hokogan snorting's
cocaine before for their match at wrestling at the No, no, no.

Speaker 2 (43:02):
It was Cogan storting cocaine in mister T's hotel room
after wrestlem after the match, okay, and then Hogan trying
to beat up Roddy Piper for breaking mister T's ribs
while the children are in the room crying.

Speaker 1 (43:14):
Right, because Piper did not like mister T coming in.
He he did not like any outsiders coming into into
the business.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
So but he came to apologize. There you go, But
then cooked up Hogan tacked him in the hotel room.

Speaker 1 (43:31):
So all right, I gotta step aside for a moment.
When we come back, I'll let you know what's happening
in pent wrestling around the state of Texas. You're listening
to sports guys talking wrestling.

Speaker 2 (43:54):

You know, still remember when I was in Nashville, I
ran across this poster on just a light downtown. Yes,
and I sent you the picture, Yes, if you knew
of it. Apparently it's a promotion called Pro Wrestling Symphony.

Speaker 1 (45:49):
I've heard of the name. I'm not familiar with him.
I've heard the name.

Speaker 2 (45:54):
So if you're in Tennessee, you'll Seephony.

Speaker 1 (45:57):
Per Wrestling seventy.

Speaker 2 (45:58):
There you go next show.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
If if if you're here in Austin this Sunday, come
and see Inspire Victorious. We are bringing the event that
was postap in July and fortunately had to be postponed
because of the flooding and everything. So this Sunday possessed
by Ecstasy of Gold. This Sunday, Empire Control Room and Garage,

Of course, the drinks will be flowing. The bars always

(46:44):
got great drinks, and.

Speaker 2 (46:45):
The Cowboys play on Thursday, so that's not an excuse.

Speaker 1 (46:47):
There you go exactly. The card looks like this. Exodus
Prime will defend the Undefinable Championship against Ladybird. Ladybird has
been making way down in reality of wrestling. I think
she is still one half of their tag team champions
now she wants to go after that Undefinable Championship. Devin

(47:08):
Carter will defend the Inspired Pro Championship in a three
way against will all Day and Danny O'Ryan. That should
be interesting. All three of them have you know, held
titles in Inspire. Let's see if Devin Carter can hold
on to the Inspired Pro title. My World has issued

(47:28):
an open challenge for the Pure Prestige Championship. I have
tried and tried to get you know, any inkling from
Max or anybody with Inspire management as to who could
be answering that challenge. Have not heard. We'll find out
on Sunday in a three way Tornado tag team match

(47:51):
for the Twin Dragon Connection tag team titles. It is
Project Wasteland. Is he James and kill a Cash facing
Casey black Rose and Jay Sky and the Born Haters
Don Rodrigo and Matt the Wrestler the for the Twin
Dragon Connection titles. T Ray and Treewood Rowford and Travis
Coodi known as the Proving Ground taking on Johnny Lyons

(48:15):
and Josiah john That should be a big match. Dimitri
Alexandrov if you remember he the last event he was
betrayed by Brick Savage, trying to make his way back up,
will face the Great Depression, a longtime Inspired icon. That'll

(48:37):
be an interesting match, you know, Dimitri Alexandrov. We call
him the death Match Jesus for a reason, call him
the Bloody Bearfighter. But to face somebody like the Great Depression,
who nobody who's really had a handle on except maybe
Rock to Castile back in the day, that's gonna be
a interesting one. Jack Callaway facing on just Nick and

(49:01):
Houston Hendricks in a three way should be a fantastic match.
Dylann Cavin's taking on Santana Jackson making his Inspire debut,
and then in a little bit of taste from the
Rhodes Wrestling Association professor Jordan Tyler, who you've seen it
at the RWA, of course trained at the Roose Wrestling Academy.

(49:25):
He'll be facing Buckets, the Clown and then in a
match that he's literally come out of the RWA. Then
Parker and Azzy will face each other as their rivalry continues.
Of course, Ozzie one half of the RWA Tag team
Champions with the Big Man Hit. So all in all

(49:47):
should be a great show. I'll be there on commentary,
hope you can make it out there. It's Inspire Victorious
Possessed by Ecstasy of Gold coming up this Sunday at
the Empire Roll Room and Garage on East Seventh Street.

Speaker 2 (50:02):
Come say hi to Stew but don't rush him like
a crazy fan.

Speaker 1 (50:04):
Please don't. Tickets are available. Just search Inspire Victoria's on
your favorite social media platform. You'll see the link to
buy tickets. Come come check it out. You will have
a ball a couple other things. So I got a
phone call today from longtime friend Mike Capps. Those of
you that follow baseball here in the area Express Mike Capps,

(50:28):
the longtime former voice so the Round Rock Express. Uh,
he is writing a book on Bill Mercer, the well
the legendary voice, the world class championship press of course.
Well see that's the thing. So he and Bill were
as tight as could be. In fact, Mike calls him

(50:49):
almost like a father figure. Of course, Bill Mercer not
only you know, the longtime voice world class championship pressing.
He was the first radio voice for the Texas Rangers.
He was the first radio voice for the Dallas Cowboys.
He called the Ice Bowl back in the seventies. Bill
Mercer has had done it all. If you if you

(51:09):
are if you are a sports fan in state of
Texas and you have heard you know, play by play
from the likes of Saya, Craigway, somebody like that, it
is very likely that that individual learned from Bill Mercer.
Bill Mercer was a professor at North Texas. Really wow,

(51:30):
and the likes of Craig Way and and I blank
on the others. But he's he has taught so many people.

Speaker 2 (51:39):
Let's see that guy from a m he did not
learn from Bill Mergerer.

Speaker 1 (51:44):
So so anyway, Bill Mercer passed away. Just yeah, I
think last year at the age of ninety nine, I believe,
I mean a long and very prosperous life. And so
Mike is writing a book. As soon as I find out,
as you know, when it's going to be released, I

(52:05):
think I'm going to be in it. As soon as
I find out when it's released, I will let you
know it is. But if anybody could could pin a
this the story of Bill Mercer, it's Mike Caps. He
knows him as as well as anybody, So that should

(52:25):
be a fantastic read's awesome. New Japan Pro Wrestling has
announced the next two defenses of their IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
So Zach Shaper Junior will defend that title against Renda
Rita on September twenty eighth, and then whoever wins that
night will face the G One Climax winner. Knuskie Takeshta

(52:51):
on October thirteenth. He won, He won the g One
and this is the second straight year that the g
One winner is going to cash him before Wrestle Kingdom.
They weren't out Wrestle Kingdom twenty. There's there's a logo
out there and everything for January fourth Tokyo Dome, but
apparently Takesha doesn't want to wait till January, so he

(53:13):
will get whoever the champion is in October at King
of Pro Wrestling, So keep your eyes on that. We
could see a who knows maybe you know, might see
the title change hands twice who knows or Zach Saber Jr.
Is able to defend against both, and then we'll head

(53:33):
to Wrestle Kingdom with the title intact.

Speaker 2 (53:36):
I'm gon say hopefully they redesign that belt.

Speaker 1 (53:39):
I'm okay with, I'm okay with h Ady Cross. Thanks
