Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, this is Booker t five time champ and you're
listening to the sports guys talking wrestling now, can you
dig it, sucker, When they're not covering the sports world,
they're talking about the world or professional wrestling. It's sports
guys talking wrestling. Now, here's Stu Myrik. It is sports

(00:24):
guys talking wrestling. Stu Myrick here on a Wednesday, and
in fact, AW Dynamite on the air right now. Hangman
Adam Page, the AEW World Champion currently battling Josh Alexander
of the Don Kallas family, and of course Don Kallas's
ringside and Rocky Romero's ring side, so you know Shenanigan's

(00:49):
probably gonna happen. So ah, great, thanks for joining me.
As I said, it is Wednesday, midweek, it is a
beautiful week here in Austin. Plus got football and all
it gets there just such good stuff. So so there

(01:11):
is a report. It's some of it's coming from Fightful,
some of it's coming from a good friend Mike Johnson
and p W Insider. But basically what it boils down
to is we know WrestleMania forty two will be in
Las Vegas next April at Allegiance Stadium, the home of

(01:33):
the Las Vegas the eighties Raiders. I think they won,
didn't they Yeah, they beat the Patriots in New England
twenty thirteen, twenty two thirteen. So anyway, as I said,
we know that the that Wressemania forty two will be

(01:58):
in Las Vegas next year, WrestleMania forty three in twenty
twenty seven. Well, between the reporting of pw Insider and Fightful,
it appears that Wrestum forty three is headed to the
Middle East, to Saudi Arabia. So it started with there

(02:22):
was a Snapchat video Saudi Arabian advisor Turkey Turk t
u rki a la Shikh and he posted this video quote,
WrestleMania has been announced for the first time outside of America,

(02:43):
WrestleMania in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia twenty twenty seven.
So pw Insider reported that there was a press release
went out and then it was pulled. The press release

(03:04):
was in Arabic, so it is not released to English,
you know, English speaking media, including those of us here
in the United States. But there it seems, you know.
In fact, so seanras Sap sent out a thing sent

(03:25):
out a report an update. Basically, they reached out to
w W and one of their higher ups quote said,
where there's smoke, there's fire, so didn't confirm it, but
kind of did so. It looks like WRESTLEMANI forty three

(03:48):
is head in Saudi Arabia next year. Uh those and
this is again this from the Fight for report though
that those quote those that we've spoken too familiar with
the situation, expect three events in Saudi next year with
royd Rumble and then May and November shows that we reported.
We're not sure if this has affected that May show.

(04:13):
I mean it could be May, April or April May,
which of course that would be WrestleMania. There has been
a lot of talk about WrestleMania finding its way to
Saudi with their current agreement with WWE. So yeah, that

(04:38):
could be really interesting because it's I mean, there's a
lot to think about. There's a lot to think about
with the possibility of WrestleMania heading to Saudi Arabia. Obviously
it would not be like your typical WrestleMania weekend and

(05:00):
like you would see here in the United States with
you know, the different events. It will be all ww
events it'll be the you know, you'll probably have smack
Down there, You'll probably have Raw there, You'll have the
Hall of Fame there, you'll have whatever they call it now,
WW World now used to be Wrestling Access, that'll be there.

(05:25):
You won't. I would be shocked if Wrestle Kan heads
over there, because that's not a WW affiliated event. That's
high spots. You won't. You definitely won't see independent wrestling
events around it. I mean I say you won't, I

(05:48):
mean I could see. I mean there's you know, maybe
GCW decides say we'll book somewhere in Saudi. I don't know.
I mean, Sadi is not a small country. So but nevertheless, yeah,
it would be obviously be a long haul for for

(06:10):
you know, media here in the United States. I won't go.
I mean that's it's you know, I'm not going. I'm
not going to Las Vegas. I sure as hell I'm
not going to go to Saudi Arabia. It's it's interesting
there has been ever since this agreement quote unquote started,

(06:34):
which was twenty eighteen, I think ever since this whole
thing started with WW and Saudi Arabia. It's one of
those where you know, it's it's a it's a deal
where there's there's there is some controversy because of some

(06:57):
of the human rights violations that have happened inside Arabia.
There was the journalist that was killed that may or
may not have been orchestrated by the Saudist. Yeah, twenty eighteen.
I'm looking at a Wrestling Observer article. But in WW

(07:24):
gets a lot of money for these events, you know,
from Saudi Arabia. I think estimated fifty million per year.
Now I wonder how much that would grow with the
with the prospect of a WrestleMania because that's obviously that's
the biggest event. So I mean, we'll wait and see,

(07:47):
We'll see if there's official confirmation. Eventually, I would suspect
that WW and TKO will want to get out ahead
of this. Let's see that there is there was something

(08:13):
I saw. I saw something about there. Oh, the the
fight UH in Vegas Canel Alvarez and Terrence Crawford, which
is this weekend in Las Vegas, UH and the big
you know, one of the title sponsors Rio Odds season.
So I think there is there's a feeling we may

(08:36):
get an announcement around that event. That's happening at de
Legiance Stadium, the big boxing match that they've been advertising
Alvarez and Crawford. Uh So, like I said, I I
don't know how I feel about that. I don't know

(08:57):
how I feel about them getting russell Mania, because that's
been you know, it would obviously be the first WRESTLEMANI
outside of North America. Yes, we've had some outside of
the United States because of Toronto, but this will be
the first one outside of North America. And again with
the complicated situation with Saudi Arabia, but we'll see. Uh

(09:25):
there has been some shake up with the commentary teams
on WWE. Uh. We know Pat McAfee took a break
and he admitted I think he ad made it on
his show that you know, the grind was getting to him. Well.
On top of that, now you've got football season ESPN

(09:45):
heavy on the college you know, they're they're you know,
one of the homes of college football. Joe Tessitort, who
is the who is the current SmackDown commentator, he's you know,
he's also one of the boy does I think he
does most most of the NBC or excuse me, ABC
games SEC on ABC and so on and so forth.

(10:08):
All right, Well, in fact, he was, he was here
in Austin. He was calling the Texas saners a state
game this past Saturday. So because of what he has
to do to get ready for those games, obviously it
makes calling SmackDown somewhat of a difficult situation. So what

(10:33):
they have done is they've shaken up the commentary teams
a little bit. Wade Barrett is actually taking a little
time off. Contrary to the reports of him being in
trouble or whatever, it's not that he's taking time off.
So as of right now, commentary is being handled on
Raw by Joe Teslitur and Corey Graves. Of Joe's doing Mondays,

(10:56):
obviously easy for him to do Mondays, smacked Down is
Michael Cole and Corey Graves. My guess is when Wade
comes back, he will slide in with Tests on Raw,
which that makes sense. He and Tests have worked together
and worked together quite well since Joe test Tour joined

(11:17):
the company. So yeah. And then of course NXT still
VIC Joseph and Booker t so yeah, and and that's
and that's to be expected. Again, Joe test Tour is,
you know, is a focal point for ESPN's coverage college football,

(11:39):
and he's there. I think he's their A announcer or. It
might be b I think, because I think the A
announcers Chris Fowler and Kirk kurb Street. So Joe test Tour,
I forget who does color with him? But but yeah,
I mean, and that's fine. Joe Testar has been a

(12:01):
fantastic addition to the WWE commentary team. I enjoy listening
to him on football. He's he's a very good broadcaster.
Uh and he's a great he's a great commentator on
WW television. So so yeah, anyway they can make it
work where Joe tests can do the do you know

(12:21):
wrestling and still fulfill his ESPN duties. Hey why not?
So so, the big event this past week in WW
the return of one A j Lee April Brooks her
government name A j Lee after a ten year absence.

(12:45):
It happened on SmackDown last Friday. Becky Lynch comes or
Punk comes out, seth rawlins the World Heavyweight Champions standing
in a skybox. Becky comes out, you know and starts
jaw jacking. Well, here comes see them Punk and seem
Punk saying look, this isn't about you, Becky, this is

(13:06):
about your coward of husband. And they start back and forth,
all that good stuff. Oh, Lance Archer's out out bringside
too for this same man and Alexander anyway, and then
Becky starts slapping see him Punk and and berating him
and doing the you know head thing. Punk finally jumps

(13:27):
out of the ring. Loss Run says, you know, I
won't I won't put my hands on a lady, but
I know someone who will, and the music hits. Here
comes aj Lee. I mean, it was it was a
great moment. It was. It was a fun moment. And
aj Lee, by the way she looked, she looked really,

(13:51):
I mean, I think she might look better than she
did ten years ago. I mean she was kind of shredded.
She had some biceps going, she had abs. I was,
I was like, damn, I mean, ten years does a
body good. So she showed up on Raw. She talked about,

(14:14):
you know, her ten year break, talking about you know,
doing the taking a mental health break, going to therapy,
got the crowd to chant therapy it was, you know,
and then talked about, you know, she saw what was

(14:34):
happening with with her husband and Rollinson Lynch and said
she had to come back. So there you are, and
then you know, here comes Seth and Becky and then
here comes see them Punk And basically what it boils
down to is we will have at Wressell Palooza on
September twentieth in Indianapolis. It will be seeing Punk and

(14:59):
a jay Lee taking on the World Heavyweight champion Seth
Rawlins and the Women's Inner Countin Hill Champion Becky Lynch
in a mixed tag match. So uh, which I mean
it was that. I think everybody expected that to happen.
So there you go. So that was fun. It was.
It was a fun thing. I mean, I enjoyed it.

(15:20):
It was it was good. I mean, now you know
there were people that lost their minds and they do
and that's great, you know. I mean, it was good
to see a j Lee back. She talked. She talked
about wearing wearing jean shorts that were two sizes too small,
which uh, Friday night she did it was God, that

(15:42):
was the look. And then Monday on Raw it was
the shorts were a little more I don't know, uh,
a little less revealing, shall we say. So let's just
was put there another a j making waves AJ Styles,

(16:05):
So he was out for a match with El Grande Americano,
which I think it's the it's the Louvig Kaiser version.
And so how Netflix, you know, they have a commercial break. Well,
during the commercial break, those that subscribe with you know,
to the plan without ads, they get a video. Well.

(16:29):
AJ Styles cut a promo during the commercial break, talked
about how he was by himself mentioned by name Anderson
and Gallows who are doing really well on the independent scene,
mentioned me Chen being on SmackDown and basically said, you know,

(16:53):
someone in WW doesn't want me here, you know, something
like that. Interesting that that was not only was that
allowed it they they reposted the promo on on YouTube,
which okay, sure, I don't know what it's leading to.

(17:20):
I I don't. I mean, it just it feels like
there's there's so I know, just there's something weird about it.
A Lee or AJ Styles did get the win against
El Grande Americano. They had the second El Grande Americano
come out, which I think some people are saying, is
Pete Dunn. That's possible. I don't know. So the USOS

(17:46):
have reunited after Jimmy came out to help his brother
Jay after he got the beatdown from Bron Breaker and
Bronson Reid last week. They started the show with his,
you know, Jay's usual entrance, coming through the crowd, doing
the eating and all that good stuff. Of course, then

(18:08):
bron Braun as I like to call him, they come
out ends up. It's going to be the Ussos versus
Braun Breaker Bronson Reid at Russell Palooza. Which that was fine, okay, sure,
but as the show went on. As the show went on,

(18:33):
Jay Usso is getting more and more angry at La
Night La Knight. There's a tension or whatever, and it
boils over. At the end of the show, La Knight
Wreussell's Bronson Reid gets pinned by Bronson Reid and then

(18:57):
you know, Jimmy USO came out to help l Night.
Then all of a sudden, right before the show ends,
Jay Uso runs in and spears La Night. Now, if
you have listened to me for any amount of time,

(19:18):
you know it's and I've seen I've seen some people,
and I'll call Simon Miller, who I love and respect
so much. He was kind of he he was excited
about the possibility of a Jay us so he'll turn

(19:42):
If you've listened to me for any amount of time,
you know that I do not like he'll turns for
the sake of he'll turns. I do not like he'll
turns when it makes little sense. And I'll be honest,
I'm not I am. I am not a fan of

(20:04):
Jay Usso turning. Heel. I don't get it. He is
among the most popular uh wrestlers inn ww right now,
he's you know, with the eating and the and the
entrances and and everything. It just it it doesn't make sense.

(20:34):
I mean, I guess I could see, okay, so they
want to add like a shade of gray, but I
don't know. I mean, it just there was a there
was a moment during I think it was during Raw
where Jimmy and j are in the back and they're,
you know, and and Jimmy's trying to calm Jay down.

(20:58):
Jay is all hyped up and Jimmy goes, you sound
like Roman, and it was kind of like, oh, there's
you know, that was a bad thing I've seen. I
saw somebody somebody that that I guess fantasy book Jay
Usso joining the Vision, which no, Please, for the love God, no,

(21:24):
I don't know. I just, like I said, it feels
it does not feel like the right time to do this.
I don't know why, other than like I said, maybe
they just want to inject a little shade of gray,
you know. But I don't know. I'm not I'm not

(21:44):
excited about it. So it's just not me. So, uh,
we do know that it will be John Cena versus
brock Lesnar. Brock Lesnar came out during SmackDown. It was
John Cena's final SmackDown, his final appearance in Chicago. Sammy

(22:04):
Zay came out, offered him a challenge, you know, lend
challenge for the US title. They had a great match,
and then brock Lesnar comes out and you know, if
if I've Zane, if I've Seena, and then basically says,
I'll see it Russell Paluza. So it's going to be
Sena and Lesnar at Russell Palooza. Uh. Brock Lesner is

(22:28):
scheduled to be on SmackDown this Friday. I forget where
they are. But and I made my I made my
feelings clear when he came back at SmackDown or a SummerSlam.
Excuse me, I made my feelings clear about having brock Lesner.

(22:52):
I think it's I think it's just tone deaf, but yeah,
what do I know. Uh, I hope it's a one off.
I'm I have a sinking feeling it's not, but I
hope it is one off. So we'll see. When I
come back, I'll talk about some ae W as they

(23:15):
head towards all out. That's next on Sports Guys Talking
Wrestling m HM, m H.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Ladies and gentlemen. Just in case your depth don't blind, stupid,
or let's just assume for this is m j F
and you're listening to the Sports Guys Talking Wrestling.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
Welcome back to Sports Guys Talking Wrestlings. Do myrik here
dynamites going on. We got Shelton Benjamin from the Hurt
Syndicate facing Ricochet. Let's start with congratulations the man that
just brought us into this segment, MJF. Maxwell Jacob Friedman,

(24:17):
He and Alicia Toot had their wedding over the weekend,
attended by most of the big brass in ae W.
Tony Kahm was there and several of the top stars
looked like it was a beautiful affair. So congratulations to
Max and Alicia. On tying the knot questionable decision for

(24:45):
Alicia tout but okay, sure, why not? I say that's
that's Actually Max is a good guy when he's not
in wrestling mode. But yeah, it was Apparently it was
nice wedding the pictures I saw from various individuals, Sam mcgavara, Alicia, yeah,

(25:07):
several others. Very nice affair there. So congratulations to Max
and Alisha. I mentioned about commentary team changes on in
WWE got one in aew as Tony conn announced. I
believe it was yesterday that joining the commentary team on

(25:31):
a regular basis none other then former aw World Champion
the American Dragon Brian Danielson is. In fact, he is
out there right now with ex Caliber and Taz doing
commentary on Dynamite. Looks like they want to give Tony

(25:53):
Shabani a break since he is calling Collision with Nigel
Beginning so interesting that it's gonna be Brian Danielson on Dynamite,
Nigel Beginnis on Collision. You know, Nigel McGinnis does not
have He has not said a kind word about Brian Danielson.

(26:15):
I think I saw something where Brian Danielson was gonna
was saying you know, I'm gonna say nothing but nice
things about Nigel Beginnings, so that'll be a nice little
you know, you know contrast, I guess. But yeah, Brian Danielson,
he's done commentary before. He's fantastic, obviously knows what he's
talking about. And like I said, so far, it's been

(26:38):
it's been a nice, little nice addition. He and Taz
the ex Caliber jail very well. So I think it's
a great I think it's a great move there by
Tony Kahn too, put Brian on commentary for Dynamite. So yeah, man,
you know, there are some people that are just they're

(27:02):
just snake bit. I mean, it just happened. So at
Forbidden Door, Wardlow finally makes his return, aligning himself with
Don Callis family. You know, he had been gone for
I think better part of a year. He had an injury.

(27:22):
Then he was filming American Gladiators. I think they're they're
trying to read American Gladiators. In fact, it's the Miz
that's supposed to be hosting that. So anyway, he shows
up at Forbidden Door. Well, now Fifel Selag is reporting
that he may have suffered a torn pectoral muscle. I mean,

(27:44):
it's you feel for the guy because, like I said,
he's you know, when he was recovering from an injury.
Then he's kind of just sitting on the sidelines waiting
to waiting for Creative to have some for him. He
finally gets something and now he's out again. Tom Pack,

(28:07):
I mean just it's it's, you know, that's just it's
horrible luck for royal love. So you know, obviously best
wish is to wordleer is he tries to recover. I
I have not heard anything about you know is you
know this is and this is a fight for select report.

(28:30):
This is not you know, I haven't seen like official
or anything. So but if it is true, have not
seen anything about whether he needs surgery. He's ob he's
gonna need surgery. They gotta repair it. So but man,
that's just that's just really sad. Ah. So on Collision

(28:51):
this past Saturday, it was Big Bill Brian Keith. They
had a match, I think they won. Afterward, Big Bill
in the back talking to I think Lexi Naire and
he decides to call out of all people, Eddie Kingston.

(29:14):
Now Eddie Kingston has been out for I think going
on two years Now he had like a horrible leggings
broken leg, and I had setbacks and everything. Now it's

(29:34):
kind of this wrestling one oh one that would say,
you're not gonna have a wrestler call someone like that
out unless that person is ready for a comeback. So
is Eddie Kingston ready to step back in the ring?
That could be interesting. They've got all Out in about

(29:58):
a week and a half Toronto on September twentieth, which,
by the way, it's it's interesting you got aw all Out,
which has already been moved up to I think it's
three pm Eastern, I believe on Saturday, September twentieth, and

(30:20):
then Russell Paluza is that night. Well, you know obviously
doing this when college football is getting going. This will
be week I guess technically week this will be week four.
I know sam Houston State is coming to dk R
to face the Longhorns. Now that right now is a

(30:43):
seven pm kick on ESPN plus sc SEC Network plus.
You also got Oregon State at Oregon on the twentieth.
Now the kickoff time has not been announced with that
one yet. Florida and Miami now that one, it's either

(31:08):
going to be the afternoon late afternoon slot or the
or the night slot. So it's either going to be
three thirty, four thirty or it's going to be six
to eight pm Eastern for the kickoff on that one.
That's kind of a that's always a big one. You
also got well, here's a ranked one. Uh South Carolina

(31:30):
ranked eleven against twenty fifth rank Missouri. That's another flex
either late afternoon or evening. What else Texas Tech versus
at Utah. That's eleven am kick on Fox. Oh, here

(31:52):
we go, twenty four rank Auburn taking on thirteenth rank Oklahoma. Sucks.
I had to put that in there. Uh that is
that is set for a two thirty kick two Central
on Saturday on ABC. Michigan Nebraska is afternoon. I mean,

(32:17):
there's there's some pretty decent games on that day. So look,
I and I get it. I see it all the time.
The crowd that go to wrestling events aren't necessarily the
ones that will be watching college football, but it is

(32:40):
going to compete both those events. This will be the
first first pay per view that AW has on HBO
Max I think or was it Forbidden Door? Okay, this
might be the second one. This will be the first
WW event on ESPN, man, I mean, that's that's gonna

(33:04):
be interesting. I mean, I'm definitely have the split screen
because you know, yeah, I want to watch wrestling, but
also I want to watch my horns. I may tune
into that. Uh was it Missouri Oklahoma or not Missouri?
It's where is it? I just saw it Auburn, Oklahoma.

(33:30):
That could be interesting. You know, even even tacking Utah,
Texas Tech Utah, that could be interesting. Missouri South Carolina.
I mean, there's some decent games, So that's gonna be
that's going to play into buy rates and such. At
least we're all out now obviously, you know WW showing

(33:54):
them on ESPN on the app, the the enhanced ESPN app,
as Joe test saying, so but yeah interesting. So yeah,
big Bill calling out Eddie Kingston, I mean, I hope
that means Eddie's about to come back. I would love
to see Eddie Kingston back in the ring. He's always entertaining,

(34:17):
not to mention, just to have him have him back
after that horrendous leg injury. I mean, we'll see, we'll see.
We've had speaking of all out, we've had a few
more matches announced uh last week Timeless Tony Storm, we'll

(34:41):
defend the AEW Women's World title in a four way
against Tacla, Jamie Hayter and Chris Statlander. So that'll be
big doings. Uh, You've got John Moxley take on Derby
Allen in a coffin match. That'll be that's gonna be brutal,

(35:09):
it's gonna be bloody, and it's probably there's probably gonna
be a I would think Darby's gonna win. So we
just had Rigochet. It was so Rigochet and Shelton Benjamin.
They promised that I have their folks come out to

(35:31):
the ring. But then of course to Leonian and Bishop
Kahn came out interferer in the match so that Ricochet
could get the pen fall victory. And now, of course
hurts syndicates out here and they're they're all fighting. Everybody's fighting.
So uh, let's see, uh speaking of which hurts syndicate,

(35:54):
and that's gonna include m v P SO m v
P Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin will face Ricochet, Bishop
Kahn and tot Leon the Gates of Agony, So that'll
be that'll be a fight. And then so far tonight,
Hayman Adam Page will defend the ae W World title

(36:17):
against the current T and T champion, Kyle Fletcher. They
have made a gentleman's agreement that it will be one
on one. It was funny hey Man telling him, you know,
telling Kyle Fletcher they're in the ring on dinahd Tie

(36:38):
and Kyle Fletcher. Uh or hey Man basically says, I
need you to do this without the Don Kallis family,
without Don Kallis, and I need you to find some
socks because of course Kyle Fletcher comes out wearing no socks.
He's dressed to the eyes, but he's not wearing socks.
And I guess that that's just you know, bothered Hayman

(37:00):
and so, but yeah, hey Man, Adam Paige Kyle Fletcher
for the AEW World Championship coming up at All Out
in Toronto next week. Of course I'll have the previews
for both All Out and Wressell Palooza. I will likely
there should be a media conference called with Tony Kahan.

(37:20):
I'll bring you that as well. But yeah, I'll have
the have all the previews stuff next week and uh yeah,
should be should be a fun day of wrestling. That's
for that, that's for sure. Just finished on Dynamite Timeless
Tony Storm in sky Blue in a Philadelphia street fight,

(37:45):
and Tony Storm came out did her best tribute to
the Sandman. Of course. They are in the twenty three
hundred Arena, the former E c W Arena, and it
was everything you expect from a street fight. There were
cake pans, there were signs, there was a staple gun.

(38:05):
Tony got staples both in the buttocks and in the breasts,
but so did sky Blue. Tony Storm revealed this table
that was covered with mouse traps, but she ended up
landing on it any and Tony Storm gets the wind,
but then here comes Julie Hart and Tecla, and then

(38:29):
here comes Chris Statlander and here comes Jamie Hater, and
it was a big old brawl to set up the
four way that I talked about earlier for the women's
world title at all out briand you it's Tony Storm
defending its Tecla, Jamie Hayter, and Chris Tatlander. So it

(38:50):
was it was just set that up. So I get that,
you know, it was it was a fun street fight,
you know, I'll give it that. So then we had
the main event, the five one hundred thousand dollars ten
man tag Ops and Brodido taking on Young Bucks and
the Death Riders, and it was crazy and it's all over.

(39:11):
The Young Bucks steal the wind holding down who was it?
They got pinned holding their leg down so they couldn't
kick out. But the big story was Daniel Garcia. Apparently
his lined himself with John Moxley. So as they're fighting,
here comes Darby Allen. It's gonna be Darby Allen John

(39:33):
Moxley in a coffin match. It all out. Darby comes out,
starts beating up Moxley. And then here comes this hooded
figure to take out Darby, and it's Daniel Garcia. And
so Daniel Garcia has turned heel, which I was really

(39:54):
hoping they were gonna split up the Death Riders, but
I guess they're not all right whatever, you know, So
we'll see what happens on the twentieth. But I still
think Darby gets the Wind, just because you know, they
gotta have a way to blow off that feud. But
we'll see. I don't know. I'm gonna take a quick

(40:16):
time out. When I come back, I'll let you know
