hundred episodes and I can't thank youso much for your support. I'm talking
(00:23):
about you the community. Y'all areabsolutely wonderful and I am so grateful to
have had this experience. But let'slook back to when I started. I
started this little passion project back intwenty twenty, and as we remember,
that was during COVID. I wantto thank Annie May for the recording equipment
before I forget. Thank you,Annie May, because without your giving me
(00:45):
that recording equipment, I might neverhave started. When I started, I
just wanted to shine a light onall the incredible artists, musicians, and
small business owners in our community, and especially the people who were rebuilding their
lives after the hurricane came and basicallydestroyed everything we knew in love in twenty
eighteen. And this journey has beensuch an amazing ride. I've loved getting
(01:08):
to chat with so many inspiring peopleright here in my hometown. I've loved
hearing their stories, celebrating their resilienceand their creativity, and you listeners have
been with me for every step ofthe way, and your support again means
so much. But as the sayinggoes, all good things must come to
(01:29):
an end eventually, and for me, it feels like the right time to
take what I've learned from this podcastand expand my vision at ward across the
great state of Florida. So Iam so excited to announce that on September
twenty fourth, which is my birthday, by the way, I'll be launching
a new podcast called Sunshine State Showcase. The mission for this podcast is to
(01:53):
celebrate, amplify, and connect thediverse communities across flord at their storytelling.
I want to showcase arts, music, culture, history, food, pathways
in everything that makes Florida so special. I'm going to be traveling and I'm
also going to be branching out intoother parts of Bay County, which is
where I'm from, and I'll behaving conversations with amazing musicians, artists,
(02:17):
writers, chefs, small business owners, community leaders and nonprofits, and just
regular everyday people from all corners ofFlorida. You could expect to hear interviews,
storytelling segments, folk music performances andmore. Now I've been coming up
with ideas for episodes, and thisis where you come in. So if
(02:38):
you have any ideas that align withmy mission statement, send me a DM
on either Instagram or you can emailme at Ashley dot Feller at gmail dot
com and I will add your ideato the list. So I'd love to
do some episodes that highlight the differentcultural festivals across the state, like,
for example, the Pass and Festivalin Wasaw or maybe the Watermelon Festival in
(03:01):
Chipley, or the Florida Folk Fastor Foggy Long Breeches or Hippie Fast all
down there in central Florida. AndI'd also like to do some deep dives
into lesser known folk art forms fromthe Florida highwayman paintings to seminal patchwork.
I am so excited to explore somany different unique chapters of Florida history and
(03:23):
our heritage. I'd love to hearyour input on topics, guests, and
stories that you want to hear featuredon Sunshine State Showcase. This podcast is
for you, and I cannot waitto hear your suggestions. My hope is
to deliver and cultivate deeper connections andunderstanding between everyone who calls Florida home.
(03:43):
And this can inspire pride in richnessof our arts, culture and history.
And it can also be entertaining tofolks with all the stories we're going to
tell and remind us of how beautifulour experiences here in Florida. I truly
believe that the power of storytelling isthe best way to learn and bring people
together. And again, I can'twait to share this journey with you.
(04:04):
I want to express again how muchgratitude I have for all of you listeners
who have come along with me onthis journey, and for every guest who
generously shared their story, and forthe amazing sponsors who help bring the show
to life. Producing this podcast hasbeen such a wonderful learning experience. I've
run so much as an interviewer,a storyteller, and a community builder thanks
(04:27):
to the conversations we've had here, and it's even led to a new profession
for me now I edit podcasts.I also help folks launch their podcast.
