Speaker 1 (00:00):
You were listening to Star Wars Splash Page Comics in Review.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
This is episode number four hundred and fifty four. Hi Jeff,
Happy tenth anniversary. Kind of sort of diety.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
A stage it's been made.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I'm hoping gonna be as badful park On. Don't want
sets running the Galla scenes.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Happy tith anniversary, mad, it's not even a kind of sorting.
We recorded the first show this month, ten years ago,
and it came out this month ten years ago. That
counts for.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
I can believe our Our actual release date was June fifteenth, twenty.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Fifteen, So there you go. So we yes, we recorded it.
That was back in the day when we could record
ahead of time because.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
We weren't weekly exactly.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Those shows were three hours long too, so.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah, yeah, goodness, gracious they were. They were lengthy. So
God got power power to anyone who sat through them.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Yes, yes, yes, yes, Matt. I wanted to share a
little bit of bad news because you know, we're we're
all family here. Everybody listens, We're all family. Uh, you
know a while back, you know, my brother lost his
dog Roscoe. Last weekend. We we lost Tinker, his other
They were both about the same age. And we're both
getting up there. Both lived a bit well, you know,
very full lives. But Tinker. Everybody had a love hate
(01:29):
relationship with Tinker because when she was younger, she was
there's no way to put it, she was a Nazi.
Anytime anybody got up to go anywhere, she would attack
your ankles because the dog was like the dog was
about sixteen inches long and she sat about eight inches
off the ground. But you would have thought she was
a great Dane.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Yeah, she she kind of ran the show. So but
we had we had to say goodbye to her. So
I just wanted to share that with with the crew
because you know, we talked about Roscoe, and I wanted
to pay tribute to Tinker because again, she was a pain,
but she was also very very funny and well and
loved her family.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
That's true. Well, we are sad, we are saddened by
this loss.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
I appreciate it. I appreciate it, but I wanted to
temper that with some other We're not doing our rec
room this week because we have so much to cover,
but I do have a movie recommendation for everybody, and
this is one that I have a connection to a
friend of mine. From high school is named Brandon Slagel.
We did theater together in high school. Has been for
the last probably twenty years at least. I've been making
(02:39):
low budget horror and action movies. That's what he wanted
to do growing up. He used to make them with
his own with his camcorder at home and you know,
edit with VCRs. And he's been doing it, like I said,
steadily for the last twenty years. His latest movie is
called Arena Wars and it's on Paramount Plus. And I
just happened to we were looking for something to watch
Saturday night, and I saw A Rena Wars and I said,
I think that's when to Brandon's movies. And we put
(03:02):
it on and watched it, and it's it's a it's
a dumb action movie. It's sort of the Running Man.
I'll Paul Vierhoven that's sort of what he was going
for there. Yeah, Yeah, Michael Mattson has a small role
in it. And uh, it's really if you're looking for
something to just turn your brain off and have some
fun with. It's called a Rena Wars. It's on Paramount Plus.
Highly recommend it. I can I can vouch for the
(03:24):
guy that wrote and directed it. He's good people and
I'm just really proud of him, really really proud of him.
He's living his best life.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Oh that's good, well done.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
So that that's that's my record for the week. So, Matt,
I know, we have three books to discuss this week
sort of. We have the Bad Batch Hyperspace story is
the Bad Batch Ghost Agents number four. We have the
Rise of Skywalker adaptation issue number five of five, and
we have Star Wars Volume whatever, issue number two from Marvel.
(03:58):
But before we dive into that, I'm sure we've got
some news to speak of, right, Matt.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Yeah, Well, what's interesting here? A couple of related stuff
to the Star Wars, particularly this news series. The trade
paperback collecting Star Wars Volume four issues one through six
have been solicited for January. Well, the solicit has gone
(04:24):
from PRH but over on Target and Amazon's websites. It's
back up there, but it's showing it collected as a
ten issue trade paperback and it will either be out
in April or May of next year or June of
next year. So that's intriguing for a couple of reasons.
(04:46):
A you don't normally see a ten issue trade paperback
collecting the first arc of a series. So it's kind of,
you know, perhaps raising a flag at least to me
that maybe this is only going to be a ten
issue maxi series, you know, And of course Marvel is
you know, Marvel's very good about announcing new series. Uh,
(05:09):
they're not very good about announcing when series are going
to be concluding. But you know, I don't want to
read too much into it yet because there's no listening
on Penguin Random House yet. And that's that's you know,
that's that's the uh, you know, for lack of veter
and that's the Bible when it comes to Marvel and
Marvel Comics when it comes to solicits. So we've got
(05:31):
to We've got a query into Marvel. We'll see if
they actually answer our email. They don't really do that
very often anymore. But you know, once we get more details,
we will let you know. Both in the Blue Skypeed
on the Facebook page. Now adding to that vexation, uh,
a second printing for Star Wars number one had been
(05:56):
solicited for June twenty fifth. There was a regular cover,
you know, which is basically a duplicate of the first issue,
except instead of an orange background. It was a great background.
And then there was a one in twenty five varied
by Ken Lashley. It's a non foil version of his
foil version for the first issue. Both of those are
no longer listed anybore. And of course this has happened before.
(06:20):
You know, we were supposed to get a Legacy of
Vader first printing, and it was solicited and then it
was managed. So so far, the only actual second printing
we've gotten I think in the past six months of
a solicited Star Wars comic was Jedi Night's Number one,
and I know that it came out because I had
a copy of it. So when we know more, you'll
(06:44):
know more. But you know, well we'll see, you know,
perhaps this could be a you know, a format change,
and maybe they've decided to, you know, it's it's more
cost effective to you know, do two arc trade paperbacks.
So we'll see, we'll find out, you know, or maybe
(07:05):
they've decided to make this first Dark Kind issues. I
don't know, we'll find out anyway. Other than that. Congratulations
to Star Wars Comics cover artist uh Luciano Vecchio. Luciano
has been named a Marble storm Breaker that's sort of
like Marvel's in house up and coming artists program, So
(07:27):
you know, that's that's perfect. Luciano's that's some really great
covers for Marvel Star Wars comments. Putting one of Magnetolpa
memory Serves correctored it was really awesome. And finally, last
but not least, I wanted to give a recommendation to
a new Star Wars comics podcast that debuted this past week.
(07:50):
Not quite not quite.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
It's called Marvel Star Wars From Empire to Jedi and
it's hosted by the irredeemable Shag from the Fire and
Water podcast network. And I like the Fire Water podcast Network.
They've got a great slutch in the shows. And so
what Shag is doing is looking at Marvel's Star Wars
(08:13):
comics that came out after the release of the Empire
Strikes Back movie up to the Return of the Jedi movie.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
So just about all of the weird stuff that was
going on in Marvel comics.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's about about fifty issues or so.
Fifty issues or fifty issues or so during that run,
you know, including like you know, the six issue adaptation
of Empire Strikes Back. Then of course the Return of
the Jedi por issued mini serious adaptations. So and uh,
you know, the first episode is out. I think it's
a I think it's a bi monthly. So but you know,
(08:48):
it's it's fun. I enjoyed it. It was it was
great to listen to. So so definitely check check that out.
We have a link to it on the on the
Facebook page and on the Blue Sky feed. You know,
highly reckoon that it was.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Very entertaining, excellent. I will have to check it out.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Please do so. And that's it. It's all them, is
I got?
Speaker 1 (09:06):
All right? Well we will take a short break and
we'll be back to discuss Star Wars Hyperspace Stories. The
Bad Batch Ghost Ages number four say that all with
one breath? All right? So from dark Horse we have, Man,
I'm really I'm enjoying this book just because of the
way they're writing a bad Batch. This is Ghostages number four.
(09:29):
Is this four of five?
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Four or five?
Speaker 2 (09:31):
This is four or five the enemy of my Enemy?
So uh yeah, from dark Horse Star Wars Hyperspace Stories,
The Bad Batch Ghost Agents number four or five. The
cover is says venturous Unveiled. Well it didn't really see
to me that way written by Michael Moretzi, penciled by
(09:54):
Rehe Hannigan, inked by Elisa Beeta Dimico, colored by Michael Atia,
lettered by Comic Craft Tyler Smith and Bobby Bradford. The
main cover is by Valeria Favaccia. The variant cover is
by French Carlo Mano. Dark Horses publisher is Mike Richardson.
Editor of this book is Spencer Cushing. The assistant editor
is Joe Cavanaugh. Designer is Rebeccashee. Digital art technicians A J. Newell.
(10:15):
Pre Press is Darby McCann and from Lucasfilm, we've got
creative director Michael Siglane, Editor Grace Rris, Senior editor Robert Simpson,
art director Troy Alders, creative art manager Phil Shostack. And
from the story group we have Matt Martin, Pablo Hidalgo,
and Emily Scukani. And we are back. You know, we're
(10:36):
on Doric Prime and again Ree's hand again is having
way too much fun drawing the Bad Patch and Michael
Moretti is having way too much fun writing the Bad
Badge because you know, as we as you see every
speech balloon from each of the members of the Bad
Batch and Bear in mind, this is set before the
events of the TV show. This is set during the
Clone Wars, so there is no Omiga. But it's just
(10:59):
it's faturing the absolute personality of every single one of
these clones. And it's like, you know, it's just essentially
a motionless animated cartoon. So it's but so they are
going through the pipes, you know, And of course, records,
are we there yet? Asked that question one more time? Record,
(11:21):
I dare your shoes is just a question crossair. I
just want to know if we have any idea where
we're going. I know exactly where we're going. We're heading
away from the maniac with the lightsabers, but we've been
walking forever. That is true, though I must admit this
planet system for harvesting energy from the ocean's current is
quite impressive. Of course, that this planet being doored prime.
(11:41):
These pipes are carrying the water from the filling station
we just left, which means if we keep heading this way,
following the pipes, we should fight. Yes, just as I thought,
a converting station, great, how does this hell, let's get
back to our ship. Now, there has to be some
mode of transportation that the people of this Planet used
to get here in back of camp be old tunnels
(12:02):
and if we can get our hands on tack weight,
says Hunter. Did you guys hear? And are you kidding me?
This guy again? And it's and it's the other bounty
hunter MBO, you know, who is of the same species
as z Constable.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
That's what. Yeah, I kept thinking this is not I
couldn't remember Zuvio's name. We've seen I'm familiar with both characters,
so I would I get them confused because I don't
see enough of either one?
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Yeah, yeah, what's also the hat that they were Yeah,
and it's like, well, record does what does? What does
he even want? And you know taxic right now, he's
demanding to know what we're after. He assumes it must
be worth a lot if aur A Sing is involved. Tech,
you let this bout the Hunter scum know that we're
what we're after is classified, and he'll get his hands
(12:51):
on and over our dead bodies. You understand jew Hunter.
First of all, he says, his name is Stembo. As
for your dead body threat, he says that can be changed.
And of course firefight toom Choom, I've got him, says
cross here oof Boom no, you don't. And then Record
goes grab him before and Record goes to grab Embo
(13:11):
and it's you know, it's a great little it's a
great sort of two page spread here. Not so fast,
body on our punter? What? Then it turns out one
of the errant blaster bols has hit a pipe and
Record goes, oh, and now they find it's starting to flood. Well,
it must be a release valve somewhere. This place is
filling in fast. Well, if you can find it, feel
(13:33):
free to open it up. Well, maybe not a release valve,
but wait, look up there, it appears to be an
escape patch, so essentially what they're gonna doo And of
course Crosshair goes, well, then let's use it to escape,
and he fires and we get basically what happens is
we get a scene right out of Star Wars, you know,
where they're in the trash impactor and you know, Han
(13:53):
fires and wait, no, no, it's shielded.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
So everybody, I'm guessing it's magnetically sealed. I was going
to see yeah, and then everybody is it fist sealed?
Speaker 2 (14:04):
I love Record and like, there's a small lock here,
but I don't know how Embo says something, and Tex says,
he says he can pick the lock. He's asking you
to get out of his way, and I'm just supposed
to trust him. He does stand to die too. Fine,
get it open body, Hunter, But if you even try
to escape without us out, and you know, Enbo swims
(14:25):
up because you know, the water is filling up awful fast.
Uh works, you know works. The magic opens the hatch
gas golf golf. Everybody comes out of the water, helmets
are off, and the Crosshair maintally starts, you know, pokes
a gun on thembo, not one across their weight. Yeah,
and then you know, and then Hunter, of course, he
was always the voice of reason, cross their weight. He
(14:48):
did save our lives, he was saving his own. We
just happened to be there.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
And this was interesting because cross here is the one
who ends up going back.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
To yeah, yeah, one, and they.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Get him back, if I remember correctly, they get him
back sort of sort of sort of. Yeah. So it's
interesting that he is the one who is the most
I guess bloodthirsty here, well or at least the least
uh least willing to give any quarter.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
And so the Hunter basically tells him lucky. You're you're
cob between us and these two assassins. You're gonna have
to get through all of us to get paid. What
could we do to help improve the odd What if
we could help you improve those odds? So they ask
him to partner with them. He says, you get some
credits from us, we get back the thing we've been chasing.
And he says something, and Tex says he wants to
(15:41):
know how I can trust us, and and Hunter says, well,
he's gonna have to settle for my word, same as
that have to settle for his h And he's so
that he says he always keeps his word, and the
Hunter says, what good. That's one thing we have in common.
And so Recker has figured out how the people on
the planet get around, and he's and it's these gorgeous,
(16:03):
gorgeous sea dragons, And I immediately thought of the cover
for Marvel Star Wars number eleven, the original run is
fighting that. They don't look exactly like it, but it's
immediately what I thought of.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Oh yeah, and you have to wonder if it's a
if it's a calculated homage. And I will have to
say that Star Wars number eleven. It's one of those
issues that for some reason, I have the most vivid
memory of buying off of the magazine stand in Germany
on post and I just there was something about it.
I'm not quite sure what it was, you know, it
(16:37):
just it always stuck with my my It's burned into
my brain.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
So so yeah, so yeah, So they're they're not very
excited about it, but Record is just saying, oh, well,
let's catch right, so you first, and so he pushes
him in, and Crossair pushes him in. He wanted to
go in that. I really thought he'd be up by now,
and says, maybe we ought to. And then he comes
(17:01):
up on it. He's riding one. He says, you guys
got to get one of these, and when you do,
try to keep up. And so I love this imagel
A just writing these dragons through here, through through the
water to get to where they're going.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
And Record is literally just you know, like a kid
in a candy see Hunter, I knew this would be fun.
I'm not sure i'd fall this fun. And we still
have completed our mission. It's true, says Crossair. We have
not retrieved the list, and there's no telling what those
assassins will do next. Don't be such a party pooper.
You know this crossair is right though, if you ask me,
(17:39):
I have a feeling they'll find us before we find them.
And that's you know when that goes? Well, hunter, look
up ahead, you see it. We found our ship and
uh and again you know those those wonderful speech balloons
where you know, we have the little individual icon iconography
for each of the members of the Bad Betch so
we know who's talking off panel right so and so yeah,
(18:02):
there's you know, their ship and you know, and then
of course waiting for them on the platform is you know,
they go and they check the ship. So where do
we go from here? We have no leads and no
idea where the list will pop up next. But once
we're back on board, as long as there's no interruptions,
I think I can get some ship's computer too. Who
jinks dust didn't I I wouldn't say that clone. Of course,
(18:24):
this is a shaj You were simply made that way,
Jinx cursed whatever you want to call it, and you
made matters worse by trying to get my way. And
you know, standing next to the assage as are as.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Saying antenna always been that long.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
Uh No, I don't think it's supposed to be that long,
So I think it's just maybe seems to be a
bit of an exaggeration. Almost so, but you you made
matters worse by trying to get in my way. But
your little interference ends now, You're right, it does, because
you're gonna give us a list. Now I don't think
I will. I'm paying good credits for Aras Saints, and
(19:06):
I plan on putting her services to good use. Can't
let that happen. I don't know who you are, and
I don't care. We've got you at numbered and we're
not leaving this planet empty handed. Hunter where's Mbo? Shocker?
We couldn't trust a bounty hunter. Play times over, boys.
Our is going to eliminate every target on that list,
And don't worry. I know you sabotage to transfer, which
(19:28):
is why I gave her the original. She'll get to
each and every Republic spy, but she'll warm up by
taking care of the four of Boom Growl and or
gets attacked by EMBO's.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Dog get off of me, or oh, you have a
job to do.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
I'll deal with this, and you know so Massage goes
after Mbo Urus you know, firing tomb choom. And this
is just really well drawn, this battle, especially this top
panel where we see Aura firing her pistols. Down, Get down, Hunter, listen,
I have a plan, but we need to get out
of here. We can't just leave Tech. The bounty hunter
(20:05):
can take care of himself, he says. To remember our deal.
We owe him for this. Don't make him come looking
for his payment. You know he's saying this, says you
know he's facing off with Massage. It's not right that
mass lunatic us too much for any one person to handle.
Hunter says, I wouldn't be so sure he knows what
he's doing. And Tech says Hunter about the ship's computer.
(20:28):
Hang on and then ah, Massage is about to strike Embo,
but her light saver is shot out of her head
and she just clone. Gotcha, says Hunter. Let's move, get
this ship ready for takeoff. Tech, whatever you need to
do with the computer, do it on it, Hey, Cross,
are you really think Mbo will be all right? He's
(20:50):
a bounty hunter, and bounty hunters always have plenty of
tricks up their sleeves. And true to form, Emba pulls
out another gun, so we you know, we see on
the final page. My idea is simple, use our more
powerful computer to scrub the data pad I used to
interfere with the list transfer. Sometimes when you put information
(21:10):
out to a source, you pick up something in return,
and in this instance, that proved to be exactly the case.
I present to you Ghost Agent number one, the first
name that appears on the list Aara has in her
possession or in her mind her first target. We know
who he is, and more importantly, we know where he is,
(21:33):
and Hunter says, which means we can get there first. Finally,
we can be one step ahead and we can make
sure that assassin walks right into our trap. Dun Dun,
Dun are going to be concluded. So nice little build up,
a lot of action. Really enjoyed it a lot, I thought.
(21:55):
I thought it was done very effectively. And you know,
I'm I'm really kind of excited about the fifth and
final issue of this, of this of this maxie, of
this mini series. And that's that's right now. It's due
out July sixteenth.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Oh well, yeah, I'm looking forward to see to seeing
how it ends. And again I just can't say enough
for about the writing here that that again they've captured
each clone's voice perfectly, which is saying something because they're
all voiced by the same actor exactly. So, Michael Maurice,
kudos to you. You've you have done a tremendous job
(22:31):
on writing this and again the rest of the even
the rest of the team, the the art team, the colors, pencils, editing,
everything about this book is just firing on all cylinders
very much. So, I'm a huge fan. So we are
to take a short break. We'll be back to discuss
the Rise of Skywalker issue number five of five.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
That sounds like a great idea.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
Okay, man, I finally have something good to say about
the Rise of Skywalker adaptation.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
Excellent. I'm pleased to hear that.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
I like the way they drew the Emperor's eyes on
the color of the cover of this issue.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
Can always rely on Phil Noto to get the eyes right.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
So all right, Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker Adaptation
number five of five, or as they say in The
Krawl Episode nine, Part five, The Rise of Skywalker the
Dead speak So written by Jody Hauser, art is by
will Sliney. Colors are by Guru e effects. Letters are
by virtual Calligraphies. Travis Lanham Phil Noto is the cover artist.
(23:33):
As we said, David Lopez as a really great variant
cover of featuring Ray and then Jana features as the
movie variant. Carlos Law is the book designer. The assistant
editors on this book are Drew Baumgartner, Mikey J. Basso,
and Tom Groneman. Mark Benicia is the supervising editor. CB
Sebalski is the editor in chief. It's based on the
(23:54):
screen Bay screenplay by Chris Terrio and J. J. Abrams,
and the story is by Derek Donnelly and Colin Treborrow
and JJ Abrams.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Christerio and I just want to break in real quick
and f and this may be something that everybody listening knows,
but if they don't, when you see credits like that,
and you see two names separated by an ampersand and
then another name or another two names separated by the word,
and that means that the people separated by the ampersand
worked together on the script, and the people separated by
(24:24):
the word and worked separately apart from the other people.
Exactly in case anybody, anybody was curious.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Well, because you know remembered, you know, Colin Treboro was
supposed to direct the ninth film and got got canned,
got booted, got booted, which is a shame because you know,
I've read the script that supposedly that that he and
Derek Connolly wrote and it's really intriguing serial. And then
of course for lucasfilm that got Grace Ris, Robert Simpson,
(24:52):
Michael sigl and Troy Alders, Phil Showstack, Pablhodalgo, Matt Martin,
James Waugh, and Emister Conne.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
And again, just like the other books in this series,
it's it's pretty much a blow by blow recap of
the movie, with a few exceptions. We have a we
have a monologue by Lando cal Racing that I don't
remember from the film. In full disclosure, folks, I've seen
this movie less than I've seen any Star Wars movie
that exists. And it's not just because it's the most recent.
(25:22):
I just don't go back to it because I don't
care for it that much. There are things about it
that I love, and there are parts of it that
feel like Star Wars, but you know, everybody knows, everybody knows,
it's just not one of my favorites soap. But Matt,
I believe this is not in the film, is it?
This one is not.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
It is not, and it's great because it is. All
we heard, you know, was that you know, Lando was
going to broadcast a message to get people to come
join everybody at Exagal, And that's what we get. And
it's and I'm going to read it because I really
liked it. This is General Lando Calarisian. If you're listening
to this broadcast, you're our last hope. You've all heard
the threats the Final orderist for us. We've lost our leader,
(26:02):
General Leo Orghana. She spent her whole life toppling tyrants,
fighting to bring freedom to the galaxy. She never gave up.
You were too scared to stand against the First Order.
She stood for you. But now Lea is gone. She
can't fight for us anymore. And is he's saying this?
You know, we are seeing scenes from the you know,
(26:24):
we're seeing Ray flying down to Execal, you know, to
approach the fortress, and above it, the Final Order's fleet
of star destroyers. We're seeing Poe and the Resistance fighters
swoop in behind her and starting to attack those those
star destroyers, and then you know, we see Ray entering
(26:45):
into the temple and going down mempicking what we saw
back in the first issue. Leah believed that just a
spark of hope could burn down this so called Final Order.
Maybe it's the old gambler in me, but I'm betting
everything that she was right. And then you know this
is happening. We're seeing stuff from the movie. You know,
we've got Fenn, We've got a visual on the tower.
You know, Poe, I got you fed. You know, there's
(27:07):
a general pride the targeting the navigation tower switched, the
source of the navigation signal to the ship, will guide
to the fleet out ourselves. Meanwhile, Lando is time and
again I've seen us dealt some of the worst hands imaginable,
but we're still here. We're still fighting. Not for Lea
(27:28):
or her memory. She wouldn't want that. She'd tell you
to fight for yourselves, that it's up to all of
us to keep that light alive. Now we could make
we can't make it through this night alone. And then,
of course you know it is he's saying this. We
switch over to Ray approaching the sith Throne, and there's
palpity log.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
And I'm gonna stay. Did he call her Empress Palpatine
in the movie?
Speaker 2 (27:53):
I don't recall he did that.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
I don't remember him doing that. And again, I just
this whole thing with the Emperor is, in my opinion,
it's just dumb. That being said, I love the way
this this has been drawn. I love the colors. It
evokes the feel of the film, and it evokes the
(28:15):
feel of this scene and it's great it does.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
And and what's what really hammers at home in addition
to the way Guru affects is colored will Sliney's work
here is the way the background. You know, we we
see these arcing bursts of lightning, yes, pretty much in
almost every panel, and it looks really good. Uh. And
then you know that's where we sort of we lose
our Lando speech.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
And that and that's where we go into just recap of.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
The film essentially. Yeah, you know Fenojena, you know, are
are landing on the main main ship. You know the
NAS signals coming from that command ship that's our dropsone
janesis how do you know it defends us a feeling
you're the general, all wings cover that lander. They've landed
a troop carrier jam their speeders.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
Using speaking speeders, which is great, but okay, so couple
of other problems I have with this book. Sorry, they
don't have long. No one is coming to help them.
You're the one who led them here. He's selling this
to Ray and everything. But I will say the scene
(29:16):
where she where Ray gets the saber to Kylo and
he does the little bow to the Knights of Wren. Yeah,
they did not pull it off in the book. I
don't know how you would. They didn't pull it off.
The only other but that that's beside the point. That's
really tough to pull off.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
The other.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
The only other problem I had is that we don't
see Snap die. We see we see Poe react to it,
but we don't see Snap wex League getting his ship
getting blown up.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
No, we don't. We don't.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
And if I'm not.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
Mistaken, go ahead, go ahead, you go ahead, I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
If I'm not mistaken, everything we have from here on
out is exactly from the film, with one exception. At
the very well, at two exceptions. We have this flashback
to Luke and Han and Leyah with with Kyler as
a baby, and then we have Luke and Leah roasting
each other as force ghosts near the end.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
But you're also you're also missing out a lot of
context here though, you know, because you just jumped almost
eight pages ahead.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
Well, but we've seen we don't need to go through
all this. Everybody's seen the movie.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Yeah, but you know they need to know that. You know,
you know that that Ray and and and Kylo and
Ben are together, uh, you know they are working together.
Then Palpatine you know, knocks them both to the ground.
You know it's you know, sucking out their life for
so that he can take them. And then you know
Poe is feeling lost, and you know they're everywhere double
leaders said Drieral, what's our next move? My friends? I'm sorry.
I thought we had a shot. There's just too many
(30:50):
of them. But there are more of us, Poe, there
are more of us. So that's where we see all that.
You know, the ships coming in, and you know there's
I know, you know there's gonna be you know, folks
like Admiral and the spaceship Round Blue Sky are gonna
be going over this page with a fine tooth with
a big old microscope or a big old one magnifying
glass looking for ships. You know, I'm curious to see
how many of these ships will pop up and see
(31:11):
if they were sort of borrowed from Mel's miniatures without
any uh, with without any uh you know, acknowledgment, you know.
But we see a quad jumper, we see the ghost uh,
you know, we you know, we see a couple of
you know, the uh, the Ewings as well as you know,
other ships, you know, some mon Kalamari ships and everything. Uh.
And then you know, yeah, you know, like you said,
(31:34):
you know it's the duel of duels. Uh. You know,
we see the Tantique four get knocked out and go
down killing the nub uh. And then you know, raise
on the ground. Be with me, Be with me, Be
with me. And then we get the Jedi talk. But
you know what was funny about this is we didn't
get you know, a connection ast to who might be
(31:54):
saying that make any sense?
Speaker 1 (31:59):
You mean, which of the Jedi were saying all of this?
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Yeah, I mean because you know, if you watch the movie,
you know you can you can tell by who's voicing, right, so, uh,
you know it's just But then we get a great
two page spread where Ray jumps up and says, I
am all the Jedi, and we see all the Jedi,
but they're all they're all prequel trilogy era Jedi with
(32:22):
the exception of Luke.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
And it's just cool.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
But I mean, you know, it's great to see Plo
Coon and kid Fist doing Mace, Windu and Anakin and
Yoda and Islasa Kura and yeah, I mean, you know, yeah,
it's just.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
And it's even prequel area Yoda. Yeah, yeah, I wondered
about that myself.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
So but yeah, and then you know, we get a
couple of flashbacks, you know, because you know Kylo Ben
transfers his life energy to Ray. We see a scene
I think that we saw in the Rise of Kylo Ren.
You know, we see Han and Lea cooing over over Ben.
We see Luke training Ben, we see everyone die. And
then yeah, like you said, we get the forced ghosts,
(33:03):
you know, on the celebration. They really pulled it off. Luke,
I done it for a minute, after all, we are,
but they grow up beyond you maybe. And then yeah,
I didn't like that. I just I kind of liked it,
but it seemed kind of forced.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
It seemed very forced and forced ghosty even no pun intended,
so horrible intended but yeah, it just did it seemed
I don't know, it just didn't seem I we never
saw them having that kind of relationship.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
Yeah, and and hopefully maybe one day we will. So
oh make for a great collage. So anyway, it's over.
I'm glad we finally got it.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
I do like the final image of the book with
Ray standing against the Twin Suns with BB eight hit
or side and they're both in silhouette.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
Yeah, so Ray Ray who Ray Skywalker? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (33:59):
Like I said, I have no one but good things
to say about the team that worked on this. They
did a phenomenal job. The problems that I have with
this are I have nothing to do with them. It's
to do with the original source material. But if this
is something you're collecting again, the book looks phenomenal. All
of the the art, the colors, everything is just wonderful.
So we will take another short break and we'll be
(34:19):
back to discuss Star Wars number two. Definitely all right,
Star Wars. So are we calling this volume four or
is it just the next level Star Wars issue number two.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
I've been I've been calling it, you know, just volume four.
But I mean, you know, we can also refer to
as Star Wars twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
That's cool too, so oh yeah, it's probably safer at
this point.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Yeah, this is issue number two. And again I really
like the color the cover, and i'dn't have to say
before we get into it. I love the way that
phil Noto and well, I guess phil Noto is just
doing all of the art. I love the way he
is drawing the faces in this book. Yes, and I
(35:11):
know she's very specific, but there they look. They look
like the actors in question without being that Uncanny Valley
photo realistic and without looking cartoonish. I don't know how
he does it.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
He's and it's the thing is he's always done that though,
you know, yeah, because if you look closely when he's
drawing like female characters, they all seem sort of seem
to have kind of very vaguely the same face, but
he does just the right amount of changes to make
them stand up and be different.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
And see, I never noticed that. I'll probably I'll have
to pay attention to that.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
But I pay attention. They go and they can go
back and like look at his work on Podamern and
you can see, you know, I mean, I like phil
Noto's work a lot. I love it when he's on
a book, and you know, I'm always grateful to when
we get him on a series. Yeah, because he does
top notch or so.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
But yeah, I see what you mean. Now I'm looking
at it, though, I see exactly what you mean. But
it is, it's everything he does is so subtle that
you don't you don't notice that that they're basically the
same shape exactly. But it's like Homer Simpson and Krusty
the Clown.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
Yeah, there you go, there you go. So yeah, this
is called Smoke. Written by Alex Sigoora. Art is by
Phil Noto. Letters are by Virtual Calligraphies. Clayton Coles. Noto
is of course the cover artist. There are variants. We
have a John Tyler Christopher action figure variant, Chris Sprouse,
Carl Story and Nero Agmnon have a Force Awakens tenth
Anniversary variant, Jose Maria Casanova's has a variant, Lionel Francis
(36:40):
Hugh and Romula Fojardo Junior have a variant, and Luciano
Vecchio has a Pride variant. Speaking of Luciano, Mikey J.
Basso and Drew Bomb Gartner are the assistant editors. Mark
Pinizia is the editor. Ce B Sebalski the editor in
chief and of course for Lucas Film again. And we
have Robert Simpson, Grace Arts, Michael Siglane, Troy Alders, Phil Shostak,
(37:03):
Matt Martin, Paplhudal and lash Kakhani.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
So this one is called Smoke. I hope the next
issue is called Stack. And that's a sinner's joke for
anyone who's seen it. And if you haven't, shame on
you watching.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
At the end of the first issue, Uh, Luke and
Renatu and ren excuse me not ren encountered an a guy, uh,
you know, a survivor after you know, they were fighting
pirate ships because the New Republic is having to deal
with piracy. Meanwhile, Leah and mont Mathma are trying to
(37:43):
appeal to planets that were under imperial rule to join
the New Republic. But the leader of the paros, he's like, no,
we're good. You know, we don't need you. You guys
don't seem to have your your act together, so we're
not gonna waste our time.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
And so that's where we open and Luke on the
ground of the planet from the last issue, an unknown
planet near the funeral sector. It's no, it's not possible.
And he's shocked. He's stunned.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
He the look on his face. I mean, it looks
like he saw a ghost.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
He literally and and and you know, and and and
Wren is just Luke, Hey, calm down, you're okay, Wren. No,
you don't understand the pilot, he said, huh no, you know,
because and we get a flashback of the pilot basically
detonating himself. You know, I'll have a suicide bomber, but
not not not too much. It's more like he probably
(38:34):
just did some like some sort of spontaneous self combustion.
And we see Luke fly back and Wren, Luke, what
about the pilot. You just got blown across this junk
pile planet, Luke, give yourself a time. No, I can't.
It's already. It's too late. And Luke runs to the
fighter and Ren's and he takes off, you know, and
so Wren runs after her him gets into her fighter.
(38:55):
Damn it, Skywalker, what's gotten into you?
Speaker 1 (38:57):
Luke?
Speaker 2 (38:57):
Talk to me, what is going on? You're hurt. Let's
circle back to Chindrill and get a meddroid to look
at you, Wrin, I need to follow this lead alone.
And he blasts off into hyperspace and it's and it's
I love how it's drawn here, and and one of
the panels here where we see them both exiting the
planet and leaving atmosphere. It sort of reminds me of
a scene from Star Wars, you know, with one of
(39:17):
the ships leaving, with the ships leaving yapn uh and
and of course you know Luke's going to the hyperspace
and Leads rends, well, how the hell am I going
to explain this to Leye?
Speaker 1 (39:27):
Just tell him it's Luke. Here's the thing that I
didn't realize that you don't realize until you hear somebody
say it. It didn't. It didn't dawn on me that
her name was Wren. So we have Kylo Wren and
we have Wren. And these came out the same week
as same day as Rise of Skywalker. Could we can
we come up with some different names? I mean, come
on Star Wars? Yeah, yeah, so dies a planet called Gadriline,
(39:52):
which have we seen this before?
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Nope? This is a it's clearly a very wintery It
looks it looks like it looks like Switzerland was a planet. Yes,
very mountainous.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
He sets off on his own toward what he thinks
is a town mm hm.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
And you know, and of course he's talking to Artwo.
I know, Rins upset Artie, but that couldn't wait. That
pirate shared something before he died. It's the thing I
couldn't ignore. I'll be back as soon as I can.
And so you know, like you said, Luke makes his way.
I promise that we get a flashback, and you know
it's the guy. Listen, let me tell you a secret
Jedi about who you're facing. If they knew how I'd
(40:30):
found you, I'd be branded a trader. But I am
a trader, a rebel like you once were. The planet Gadula,
there is a collector, Ebo Trudispal, a hoarder of ancient artifacts,
Jedi artifacts, a crown unlike any other. Find him. Learn
the truth, your own and mine. Now step back, brace yourself.
(40:53):
Well wait, no, what do you I must cover my
own trail with my life, and that we paid to
black so dramatic it is, it's pretty dramatic. Uh. And
you know here's the thing is, you know it's great
to see that the guy or Cannon uh now because
you know then the guy actually you know, first appeared
(41:14):
way back, uh in Star Wars ninety one. Uh in
the nineteen seventy seven to eighty six front.
Speaker 1 (41:22):
Oh wow.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
And and and you know, and pretty much you know,
work in issues ninety five, ninety six, ninety seven to
ninety nine, one hundred and one, O two, one o seven,
all the way to the end almost so. And they
were they were they were villains. Uh. And you know,
they're they're they're they're quite humanoid obviously, but uh. And
(41:44):
they were from a satellite galaxy called fire Fist and
the Unknown Regions. They're attractive, gaunt and frail, but that
worked to their advantage because people thought that they were
sort of weak and easy to fight, when when in
fact they had these lightning reflexes, wonderful agility and fighting
(42:07):
and they were electro mesh arbor. So it's good to
see these guys back.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
And so when when you say they were from the
Unknown Regions, is that from the the original run the
Unown Regions were part of that or is that yeah.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
That's that's from the legends.
Speaker 1 (42:22):
I had never heard that term until air to the Empire.
That's why I was. I was curious. I don't remember
that from them.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
Those those are the regions, and you know they're out
beyond the outer rim, you know, uh you know, but
you compare that to say, like wild space, which which
was explored, right, so because the unknown regions, you know,
didn't have reliable hyperspace routes. So uh just that's the
way it is. So, But neither here nor there, uh
(42:50):
we in that page all in black? What do you mean?
He just left? And it's it's it's Ran talking to
Leah and mothmnd uh, the the imperial spy. I forgot
her name, but that's what I mean, Princess.
Speaker 1 (43:03):
He ran off.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
One second he was passed out the dirt. The next
thing was hopping into his ex wing and waving me
away as best you know, I'm assuming you chased him,
Leah asked as best as I could. But as you
surely know, your brother's a damn good violent and Lea's
just like well, Luke wouldn't just leave. Something pushed him,
whatever that was, we have to trust that it was important.
(43:24):
He looked shaken, as if something had struck him to
the Core and Mon, it's just like, as much as
your brother's actions worrying me, Leyah, we have more pressing manners.
Don't remind me. Mon, thank you, Reren. Please keep us posted,
of course, Princess. Then we cut back to Leah and Man,
and Leah says, she's so loyal to him. He's lucky
to have a friend like her. Leah, Yeah, I heard you. Man.
(43:46):
I'm still grappling with it all. So many lives lost needlessly,
and this move by Prime Minister Almavar so soon after
our heated exchange with the Piosi delegation ordering their allies
to circle our own trade ships, you know. And again
we saw this toward the end of the first ish
you thanks for the edge note. Mark, Yes, you didn't
even give us a moment to respond, and Mon says, well,
(44:08):
what are you suggesting. I'm not suggesting. It's more of
a hunch, but it feels like our enemies are just
starting to get into position, I says. And then we
turned the page, and this is where the mcguffin comes
into play. The Crown of Verity, the name that I
(44:29):
thought of just as a whisper or rumor, and we
see Luke on Hawth reading Obi Wan's journals. Obi Wan's journals,
which went as far back as the Clone Wars, spoke
of it, how powerful it was. Whoever wore the Crown
could see through any lie, but at the same time,
the wearer could not lie themselves. The crowd seeing a
(44:50):
little dumb to you, No, it's not, it's not, and
it's awesome. And you know why it's awesome because it
because because they are mining the Nexus of Power sourcebook
from Fantasy Flights Force and Destiny role playing game.
Speaker 1 (45:09):
Okay, I shouldn't have said this sounds dumb, It sounds convoluted,
and it sounds like something from an RPG, which it
is exactly what it is. It all makes sense now.
Speaker 2 (45:19):
It is from because Fantasy Flight Games basically did four
Star Wars RPGs in the in the in the twenty
the twenty teens. Uh you know, Age of Rebellion. You know,
there was you know, the Smugglers, Uh uh you know
you know, you know you can play you know, Galaxy
Smugglers and Bounty Hunters, et cetera. Then one was Force
(45:40):
in Destiny, which it basically was sort of you know,
played Jedi it seth so uh and and this is
from force and destiny. Uh and so, and the crown
was lost, destroyed, So the Jedi thought, but if the
crowd is here on Gadule and I have to find it. Yeah,
because think about it, having this crown would make would
be a hell of a tool to have. And so
(46:02):
Luke walks into what has been a very festive looking
pub filled with the guy and Aerrodian and some other creatures.
And it's like literally record scratch, complete silence as he
walks in and he takes his hood off. I didn't
mean to disrupt your celebration. Nothing to celebrate today or yesterday,
probably not tomorrow either, says the bartender. Smiles don't come
(46:24):
easy here, Stranger. I understand that. I'm hoping someone can
help me, Luke says. Stranger needs help. So what who doesn't?
Says the bartender. I'm looking for someone named Debo Trudispald.
He has something of mind. And then this, you know,
other guy kind of lean at the bar, looks over
the load. It must be something in great value. This
planet is in no place, never mapped, known by few.
(46:47):
Mind your tongue jesuit, says the bartender. Mind yours bartender
it's not every day we're visited by a Jedi. And
she says this as she says that she looks down
and looks Lightsaber and Luke as what is this village in? Enough?
Leave my bar now, I don't seek trouble, And then
unfortunately has Alana. It appears trouble has found you more
(47:12):
than the guys show up.
Speaker 1 (47:13):
And I just realized who this species reminds me of.
And I can't explain why, but you remember in Star
Trek three, the guy who comes up to McCoy and
the bar you see us that they remind me of
that alien character.
Speaker 2 (47:28):
Oh yeah, could could you have? How could you have
trouble hearing me with the ears as big as yours? Yes?
Speaker 1 (47:34):
And that that that is one of those that is
one of those like single scene performances by an actor
that you never saw again, like and anything of note
that just sticks with you. So that that that's why
I just I love that guy, and I love these
the design of these characters as.
Speaker 2 (47:48):
Well, exactly, so this is the guy she is somewhat
certainly it appears trouble has found you, and the other
a guy standing with her says, this must be the
pilot it is his ship we found on the edge
of the village. The other guy says, no one visits
gradual M unless there's a deal to be made. No
one should know this place exists. Got to explain, stranger,
(48:11):
how does a New Republic pilot decide to stop here
of all places? And jess ra it's like, okay, it's
kind to be going. Wait, do you know Ibo? I
need help? Iyebo, Trudis Paul, why are you looking for him?
And Luke gets grabbed. Come along, stranger, your answers will
enlighten us. I'm sure, and he goes, I'm not going anywhere,
and he force butchers them off, and you know, the
lead does like a force user. Interesting. Our partners will
(48:36):
be very happy to hear. And Luke lights his blade.
There's a Jedi in our midst and so then she
sends her lackeys to get him. Go bring him to
me alive, and everybody else is clearing out, bringing their
drinks with him, and it's like the odds are not
good for you, Stranger. I suggest you run free the
smuggler another day. No, I didn't come here to run,
(48:58):
Luke says, And then we get you know, loop sort
of giving us a you know, an inner monologue. You
learn a lot just by watching your opponents, the little
movements that say so much to shift and wait, signaling
an attack, the tilting of a head suggesting a retreat
or hesitation. But it's not just the people I'm fighting
that tell me things. I find answers all around me.
(49:20):
And of course, you know, he's saying that he is
taking care of business very effectively. Uh, and not doesn't
seem to He doesn't seem to actually be killing anybody,
you know, just sort of you know, seems to be
incapacitating them, right, And so they're all down on the floor.
The others are still at the bar, holding their drinks
and staring at everything. And then the leader says, let's go.
(49:42):
We must still let them go go now, yeah, yes, yes,
must be going, you know, Susgeser and Loup and Luke
puts his saber over Jester's shoulder. No, Jeser, please don't,
not until we talk. I know nothing, stranger. I'm a
simple laborer. I came in for a dream A little more.
You called true to s paul A Sma. I never
said that yet, you knew. And the bartender they wrecked
(50:03):
my bar again, and Lucas looking at Jesuit, there's something
odd about this place, the darkness I can't figure out.
And Luke sayster, I want to find what I came for,
what answers? I need your help, Jesuit, And so Jessord
takes it. This way. I will take you to the tunnel.
Then you can make your own choices. That that woman
(50:24):
does she rule this place. That is vinc. Rule is
the wrong word. It implies home kingdom. This is a
place between places and nothing I gathered as much. But
where do you come from? Why? Why come here? To
gadrel him? Yeah, you talk like we have a pick
of places. This is where we were brought. No choice
(50:44):
was given, Stranger. It's best if you get what you're
looking for, then leave. No good will come to you
from my people and the guy from you being here,
only hurt, anger and pain and death. But Vinc she's
one of you. She's the guy as well. She is
not one of us, not a follower of Garlve. She
sold her allegiance long ago. She's rich and empty now.
(51:06):
People fight among themselves all the time, especially when other
forces pull you from your home. Everyone is looking to
improve their own place. This isn't new stranger, and looks
I'm not a stranger. My name is Luke. Luke this way,
come and when this is over, I'll help you. I promise.
It's what we the Jedi do this way. Luke Bink
(51:29):
is a trader, no longer in the guy. She sells
our secrets and serves another. But we don't belong here.
We don't belong here. But she's to blame. Who's bringing
you here, dragging you from your homeworld. If I knew Luke,
I would slide my knife into the middle and still
sleep well. They bring us here, put us to work,
then tear us away when we die. I don't expect
you to help us. It's too much to ask. But
(51:50):
help is what we need. I've always below in the cells.
And as he explained to this, they enter a tunnel
and you know, into a cave. They shot him down
when he tried to escape with his collection of relics.
He almost got away. He is my friend. I was
head back to the village, but talk to him, jests
or it I will, and then I will help you.
And look turns around and says, I promise.
Speaker 1 (52:10):
And you know something that just hit me what her
red eyes make me wonder if this species maybe isn't
somehow related to the Chiss.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
Maybe, but I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (52:23):
I doubt it. But it's just it's just a thought
that ran through my head. Yeah, and mostly the way that,
and especially the way she was drawn and colored in
in this section. Yeah, but mostly I just wanted to
brag that I knew what species thrown is.
Speaker 2 (52:41):
So Luke makes its way down. I've been fooled by
the false artifacts before, but this spelt different, genuine. Then
we flashed back from benetage stolen from another Jedi, Tobar Catine,
but the pilot knew too much of Tobar katin is real.
Also mentioned in Nexus of Power, he was philosophy minded
(53:02):
and his big thing was investigating truth and what makes truth,
and he became a Jedi master, and then black Son
went after him after a mission to Kreole Station interrupted
one of their operations. He was captured by a bounty
hunter called Calix the Piner and tortured for weeks, and
(53:24):
according to the lore questioned about Jedi secrets, Couteam found
capacity of lying during his time at Calyx and never
revealed anything. He described the techniques as quote the abandonment
of truth. He was ultimately rescued by a Jedi strike
team and regarded as a hero by the High Council.
But the experience changed it, and so he was able
(53:50):
to find the Crown of Verity, an ancient benitagean artifact
kept within the Temples archives. You know, he pondered, He
pondered this thing, uh, you know, and the virgins on
the planet to Orata and the effects of the Crown
in the Clone Wars. He did not take a rank
of general in the Grand Army, and he took the
(54:14):
Crown of Verity to Akablas on Altera to investigate it. Unfortunately,
it was there that Order sixty six was enacted.
Speaker 1 (54:26):
However, found the one ring and I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (54:30):
However, cauteen the Crown and the clones never seen again.
So now we apparently, yeah, there's word of the Crown.
So Luke is walking down, you know, and he finds
Bank's crew. Get the smile the Jedi on our trail.
(54:53):
We're done here. We need to clear out and move on.
Move the prisoners, you know what to do. After that,
we'll have to drag this lunch. Can't stand on his
own feet. Let's hurry. We don't want to get caught
up in the hand over that crown, says Luke Saber ignited.
You know, in the distance this trash and Baker's holding
the crown, so we know that the crown survived. It's
(55:13):
more trouble than it's worth. Garlo's followers, his revolutionaries are everywhere,
even the people like pay are siding with him, and
tosses the crowd up into the air and look, I
think it looks like he's tried to pause it and
make his like your trikets don't matter to me. Tools
of a lost gauge, a time gone, A new world
is being forged. Jedi and she's talking, she's pulling out
(55:34):
her gun. There's no room for relics, and uh, you know.
Speaker 1 (55:39):
I did wonder about that, because we have two panels
of him apparently forced pulling it to him. I guess
three panels technically after she tosses it. But it looks
a little odd, right.
Speaker 2 (55:52):
Yeah, it looks like it almost looks like, you know,
she's going to shoot the crown, but no, she shoots
Eyebo and then we get you know, they turn around
and leave. Regards from the Zantark Jedi. I mean, your
ashes mingle with the remnants of this sad, hapless village
of an outwalk. Maybe Imperial remnants, but you know, who know,
I mean, they could just be folks wearing you know,
(56:14):
old Imperial.
Speaker 1 (56:15):
By assumption was it was just something they had picked up. Yeah,
because that's.
Speaker 2 (56:21):
No. Because we have a death trooper helmet, we got
a snow trooper helmet, we got a you know, it's
almost like a scare of short trooper helmet, and you know,
and you know, and they're all very happy though, because
they all got their guns trained on. Luke didn't think
we're going to take a Jedi out along with this village,
and Luke says, I don't think so. And Luke Luke
makes short work of them and pretty much kills them.
(56:44):
My thing jesuit not too late not And Luke runs
back up out onto the surface. Too late. Oh no, jesuit,
and the bar is just engult in flames, and we
get it to be continued, and on July sixteenth we
get the third issue, and it's Crisis on Cloud City.
I'm very kind Lando and Balance.
Speaker 1 (57:06):
So a trio I never thought about, but now I can't.
Speaker 2 (57:09):
Wait, and it's gonna be awesome, very very cool.
Speaker 1 (57:14):
And again this book. You know, I know you were
you were kind of kind of lukewarm on the last issue.
I liked this one. I figured you you all the
all the Wizards of the Wizards of the Coast. It's
Western Game. Sorry, Western game.
Speaker 2 (57:30):
It's Fantasy Flights. I'm the West End Games. This is
stuff is you know? This stuff is from nine years ago?
Speaker 1 (57:35):
Oh okay, my mistake. Having never played any of it,
I can't keep any of it straight.
Speaker 2 (57:39):
And I've never I've never played the Fantasy Flight Star
Wars RG, but I have all the books and they
are amazing reads. Cool, very cool.
Speaker 1 (57:47):
All right, well we will take another really short break
and moving back to discuss the offerings for next week.
Cool okay, Matt, If I'm not mistaken, we don't really
have a bumper crop of books next week, do we?
Speaker 2 (58:05):
No, we don't. On Tuesday, we get Star Wars Legends
the Rebellion Omnibus Volume three, which we will not be
reviewing because it's like a thousand plus pages. However, on Wednesday,
June eighteenth, it's Doctor Afra Chaos Agent number one started
the new series.
Speaker 1 (58:21):
Yes, it's been too long.
Speaker 2 (58:23):
It's been way too long.
Speaker 1 (58:24):
Cannot wait. We'll be back next week to discuss that,
and since we will have time next week, we will
have a recruit to talk about. So until then. For
Star Wars Splash Stage, I'm Jess, I'm Matt.
Speaker 2 (58:38):
