Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to Star Wars Splash Page Comics in Review.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
This is episode number four hundred and fifty six, and
we're going undercover in the first order and the Nile
or maybe not. Hi, Jeff, how are you dig me?
Speaker 1 (00:15):
All the stage spin mad, I'm gonna be as beerf.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Park On.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
I don't want seats running the Gallo sys. I am
not cut out for aver word crack under pressure very easily,
in fact, and I'll probably sell you out.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Would you do it for a devil?
Speaker 1 (00:50):
No, but maybe a klondig.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
I'm ashamed to add the things that I've done for
a Klondyke party.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Oh. We do have two books this week, folks. We
have from dark Horse they promise the almost last issue
of the High Republic Adventures and this Battle of Area
I Do Noah. And from Marvel we have Legacy of Vader,
number five of question Mark, because I finally remember this
as an ongoing series.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Well done you. I'm so proud of you.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Thank you, thank you, thank you. No no movie talk
this week. I didn't except no I did. I rewatched
Dazed and Confused on Friday night.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
All right, all right, all right, I got home.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Late and I wanted to watch something kind of silly,
and so we put on Daze and Confuse. I saw
that when it first came out in like ninety and
ninety three, and man, that movie holds up. And it's
probably been five years since I really sat down and
watched it, and that movie just holds up. That is
a good freaking movie.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
It is. It's a super solid but it's just it's
very entertaining. We showed it to the kids through or
three weeks ago. Oh, so they were they were really
impressed with them.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Have you have you shown them American Graffiti yet?
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Oh? Yeah, it's a good double feature.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
And then there's Always Can't Hardly Wait, which is another
of those high school one night movies that doesn't get
a lot get talked about a lot, but I really
like it.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
It's a great one. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
All right.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
So with that being said, I'm assuming you didn't see
any movies over the weekend because you don't like movies.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
That's right, I don't.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
I think they're a plague upon humanity, A plague, a plague.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
My friend Mike used to walk around going a plague
on both y'all houses. Hope, y'all all get sick.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Oh yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
All right, So Matt, what do we get news wise
for this week?
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Well, Newswise Marvel's September Solicits came out, and no surprise there.
You know, doctor Afra Chaos Agent number four is coming
and she's gonna team up with Chubach up again.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Nice.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, let'll be nice. Uh. We do have also, of course,
the the launch of the four issue Boba Fette Black, White,
and Red, which of course is you know, following the
footsteps of Darth Vad or Darth Maul. So that'll be
a four issue mini series, and then I'm sure it
will also get the Treasury edition and the traditional trade
(03:22):
paperback collection. Uh. And of course we'd already talked about
Han Solo and the Hunt for the Falcon h. You
mentioned that briefly, although in last week's episode, I'm still
kind of trying to figure out how they're gonna tie
that into the previous published stories in novel form and
and even in comics. You know the detail that, so
(03:44):
it should be interesting to see what sort of gymnastics
will be undertaken.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
And then uh from Dark Horse we get uh ah,
we get the uh tales from the night Lands number
two of three, which actually, you know, I'm all three
of these issues look good because they're being written by
Cavin Scott. But this is really kind of cool because
(04:09):
it focuses on Luke. Luke and the Solicitor is very intriguing.
After his defeat on Cloud City, Luke Skywalker is tormented
by Darth Vader's revelation is the dark Lord of the
Sith really his father? When a nightmare suggests otherwise, Luke
can't resist the opportunity to investigate and comes face to
(04:29):
face with the night Ladder. So it's like, Okay, that's
kind of cool. So interesting, Yeah, yeah, it should be
a lot of fun. Over on the Facebook page and
the Blue Sky page, there is a preview of Doctor
Africhaos Agent number two by way of AIPT Comics, and
the reason that came out so early is because Today's
(04:51):
final word are cut off for that issue and Marvel
is trying to jet up sales, so that's why it's there.
At Minock Manner, they have a great written interview with
the writer of that series, Cherish Chin. There's a link
to it on the Facebook page and on the Blue
Sky feet and in the show notes from last week,
(05:14):
and I highly recommend you check that out. It's a good, good,
solid read. And props to them for getting cherish to
talk about Doctor Afra Chaos in So not a lot
of reveals August, but that's to be expected. So and
that's Jeff, all the news I have here.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
All the news. It's fit to speak, all right. You know,
I just we got done last week and I went
out and just went on and on to Pam about
how much fun I had with that first issue of
the Doctor Afra Chaos Agent book, and just the idea
of putting her in Luke together and them being like
the perfect pairing would have never occurred to me. But
(05:57):
I'll be danged if if they're not like, if he's
not like the perfect straight man for her.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Oh perfect foil and again and of course you know
that nickname, you know, Barmfoy, Barmfoy.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Yeah, I just I just I can't. I can't say
enough good things about that book. So so that is
the news. We're going to take a short break and
be back to discuss Dark Horses Offering High Republican Adventures issue.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
What is this nineteen nineteen. Yeah, we'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Ariadu's Last Stand with an exclamation mark on the cover
of this book. Should it be a question mark, Matt,
because it seems like Ariadu's last stand. It been going
on for about a year and a half.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Now, well that's that's why they're declaring it's Ariadu's last
stand again. And of course, bear in mind we already
know what happened, having read the that this true of
five republic fear of the Jedi. So but you know
it's neither here nor there, because you know, survivors of
Aria do this one that's called This is the nineteenth
(07:01):
issue of the twenty issue series. It was written by
Daniel jose Older, illustrated by Harvey Tolaveau, colored by Michael
Attia letterard by comic Crasts, Tyler Smith and Jimmy Baitnport.
The main cover is by Elisa brom Bowley and the
bariant cover is by Elizabeth Fields. Dark Horse publisher is
Mike Richardson. The editor of this book is Spencer Cushing.
The assistant editor is Joe Kavanaugh. The designer is Rebecca
(07:23):
she digital art technician is Ann Bray. Pre press is
to Arby McCann from Lucasfilm. We have created director Michael Siglane,
Editor Grace r A, Senior editor, Robert Simpson, Art director
Troy Alders, creative art manager Phil Showstack. From the story
group Matt Martin, Pablo Hidalgo and Emily age Kani. So
(07:45):
to bring you up to date, the Starhopper and the
Worden are destroyed. Thanks to Farzala. He destroyed the ship
that was once his home, but in doing so he
has saved Areada from destruction. However, the war has not
yet ended because Nile ground troops are still trying to
those on the ground. So now begins the final push
(08:05):
for the faint Uh area again. Yes, and we open
up and that Shan and Zion. Now we know Shan
because you know Shan was in the Prominent Belief Phase
two story by Daniel jose Older for the High Republic
Base too from Marvel. Zion, of course is a legendary
(08:29):
pirate and they are fighting cheek to jowl on the
ground and it's a massive battle. I've never fought in
the battle this big, says, and hopefully never will again.
Zion said, Shann, how do you know when the fighting's over? Well,
usually either you get blasted or the other guy does
any other way. Oops, blaster Bull's filing, you know, firing everywhere,
(08:51):
fish some sang explosions everywhere. Oops, mind the blaster bull. Shan. Thanks.
Sometimes you know it's over because everything suddenly gets really cool.
But that also happens when you get blasted, so boo
of course, you know, foreshadowing literally immediately foreshadowing. Shan takes it,
hits to the shoulder and siles.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Like, no.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Get back. Nile Scum and Harvey Tolabaut is just on
fire here throughout this entire issue.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
This is a very, very, very busy book.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
It's a very busy book. However, it's it is properly
formed and you don't lose the pace and you don't
get lost.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
There are a few pages where I was having trouble
figuring out what was going on.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Now.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Granted that happens to me a lot because I'm kind
of adult, but yeah, there's just so much going on.
I feel like this maybe could have been two issues,
and we might have had it might have seemed less crammed.
Because it is. It's well paced and everything. I have
no problem with the writing. Some of the action. I'm
having a little trouble following, but it just it just
(09:58):
seems crammed. That's the best way I can describe it.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Well, And yeah, to remember think about this. They also
extended this out like by an extra three issues, maybe four.
I think it was supposed to end like the sixteen
or seventeen. You know, so they're adding that. You know that,
you know we're getting you know, clearly there was a
story to be told. So and as I understand it,
Ah The Trials of the Jedi. The novel The High
(10:24):
Republic novel written by Charles hul that came out last week,
does a really good job of sort of roping in
the events of the Battle of Area Adude in an
overarching manner. It makes you know, it's a sort of
a nice runtdown for everything. So so but so uh
chan is uh is picked up and you know, taken
(10:48):
to safety by Zile. It's okay, Sean, come on, Shan,
you have you have to be okay, h hang on, kid,
I'm coming what And then boom it's sad Malagan, you know,
jumping up with flight sabers blazing. I've got you, I've
got these clowns. You get Shann to safety. Masters hurt.
I do, and you know, sav is just you know,
(11:08):
having a good time. Uh and and and Shan gets
up and I was like, wait, stay still, you're gravely
moved it. I can't just lay here? Why not because
well that's that's for them. But there's always more coming,
says Sad. One of the boistering point is she's trying
to do and to stand. Probably not gonna make it anyway.
I but I realized I didn't say a proper combine
(11:29):
to Emeric and he probably isn't making it out of
that bunker. Just want to be closer when we go,
so we can find each other on the other side.
And that's where we cut to that bunker. Now. Of course,
Shan is referring to Emeric captor the other Jedi that
(11:50):
we mentioned that I you know, that was in the
wonderfully written Older jose Older written excuse me, Daniel jose
Older written uh uh story that Marble had published. So
uh and uh it uh has been implied. And I
(12:12):
think at this point we can sort of kind of
read the writing on the wall that they are a
bit of an item.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Well it's not really implied at the end. Yeah, So.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Uh and of course, Emrick Caftor was basically ah uh.
You know, he was sort of tasked by the Jedi
to investigate how Load and Great Storm died on the
planet Resolve. That's way back, you know, sort of at
the start of the High Republic, so uh uh. And
of course he he hired Shan Holt, who was a
(12:46):
private detective to help him examine the mystery. And that
was in the High Republic Trail of Shadows. So that's
so mini series I am referring to. So but so anyway,
we cut to the bunker and it's being sworn by
Nile Brown troops. Uh. And it's just it's utter chaos.
(13:06):
I mean, they're about to get overrun. And you know,
that's where we see all of a sudden, everybody else
from this this series is all right, heads up, everyone,
we got more coming. And of course we do crash.
Gobby Rue, you're here defensive positions. We hope this ground
regroup then pushed back. Hey, isn't that the Wardens Command ship.
(13:27):
And so what we're seeing is what we saw a
last issue. We see the Wardens Command ship coming crashing
down to the ground. Uh. And we sort of got
to repeat uh you know what happened last issue because
we see Farza you know, we get this great two
page spread by Harvey. Uh, you know with Farzola firing
the cannon hitting the warden. Uh. And you know seeing
(13:47):
you know, literally everybody. You know, there's scene and Lula
in their in their fighter. You know, there's this cork.
I believe it, John, I think uh and just you know,
oh my gosh, An you know that we see you know,
submarine target, nice shot Farsala. But some of these fighters
are trying to regroup, Loulaizine. Do not let them get away,
(14:08):
get away, you know, Autumn Mander severing any word from
Cantum emeric and Nevia. No, they're probably gone.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
And yeah, you know, Lou was like, what just out there?
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Yeah, my memories, so many memories of Master Canton just
suddenly glowed through me. Does that mean there? And and
Jane says, now, my love, it means we have to
clean up these nile and they go find them. I
cut back to elsewhere. You know, it's it's very it's
a very pranetic book, you know. And they're pounding the
ground trying to you know, get rid of these nile.
(14:41):
And then you know, everybody's still grouped together, you know,
forming a defensive wedge. Shan, It's like, stay covered everyone,
there's still some Nile snipers out there taking pot shots.
Why are you laughing, Shan, because I finally realize. But
I've been wondering about all along. You know, I have
no idea what you're talking about. Zile says, I've done
all I can in the field. We have to get
(15:01):
you out of the here, but it's not safe to
move yet. Emrick, I thought, if I could only build
a wall sign up around my heart, that I could
care for Emeric with no attachments, the way he needed
to be cared for. But walls don't stop attachments, they
only encourage them. And there's no wall in the world
that could keep out love none, And in truth, all
(15:23):
this time, I've been loving him just the way he
needed to be loved. I only wish I could have
told him that. We cut to Zena Lula going after
some more ships, you know, destroying them, you know, and
Lula's like, ah, I think that was the last one.
Our area and Admiral Corona Cronara reported that they have
the Nile feet on the run. Louisine what is it crash.
(15:44):
We have casualties to evac and the Nile ground forces
are trying to regroup and overrun our position. We're on
our way, all fighters on us. We cut back to
the to the ground. It is louisine and the others
are on the way, Sad says, and Zila asks, well,
shan naked, I have no idea, kid, I'm sorry. Well,
how do you keep going when there's so much death? Uh?
(16:05):
Zile cheme xile keem nor Grandma would be so proud
of you. And again it's another great two page spread
to answer your question. Though you find the light, And
as Sab is saying all this, we are seeing some
intense scenes of fighting on the ground here. But you
gotta look for it. You can't just sit around and
hope it shows itself. Sometimes it's a memory a person
(16:27):
who burns so bright their light is never gone. Sometimes
it's so dark you have to squint to see it.
But if you choose to look, it's always there. It
could be scary to look. We fear it won't be there,
but the choice is always ours to make. Oh and
then sadness, and we didn't find it. You fight like
(16:48):
hell to protect it and then boom youo Lula zine
ze everyone first, all the people yelling names. Yeah, you
were amazing, Barsola, please, we did it all together. We
took care of a niles wat approaching from the northeast.
Any others need pending up? Uh? You know? Tarkanhass waiting
for a word from It's handled Ram and we ran
into some friends on the way. Crank flat kill. No,
(17:13):
I was just with Court. He's in rough shape, but
he'll pull through. What happened to you? Where? Man? Where
do I even start? Any news on my brother and
the other's commander crash nothing yet. I'm so sorry, but
the search begins. Now let's start moving everyone. We have
some folks to find and get these wounded to safety.
Wait comes the voice, and then you know, the three
(17:33):
of them run. You know, we get this full page
bread of them running. It's uh, you know, another two
page spread here and it's emeric got room for one
or two more.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
Stars. You're all the live.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
What happened? Cantum saved us both what it costs them dearly?
I did what I could. They need a surgeon immediately here.
Let us help. Don't ever ever scamulate that again twins
as uh, you know Darken, no promises, Come on, let's
get you all taken care of. Has anyone seen? And
it's Emeric asking, has anyone seen? Shan?
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Wait?
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Let me what happened? We were fighting off an attack together.
She got hit, Zile says, she said, she said she
wanted to tell you. She realized she's been caring for
you right all along and no walls can keep up.
Huh love? Wait? Huh are you laughing? And he's talking
to Shanna. Took you long enough, Shan, and they kiss
(18:33):
and we can't you know, we get Lulah Karkan finally
and you know, next to Suth, I see the lights.
I see the light. Great job, Kitto, Now help me
with these evacuiees. No love with no walls and no attachments,
and asked Shan and Emerics it's the best way to love.
(18:53):
And there's crash and Severn Tarkin just got word the
Nile fleet has fled. Well, then why don't you do
the honor? Is Seve and hands Seve the mic. Area
I do is free, Area I do is free. Area
I do is free. That's where we end and we
will get to in a final issue coming out in July, so.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Funes, I'm sure what's left for the final issue. Seems
like we got everything in this one. Like I said,
I didn't have a lot to say because I just
I read it and I thought, Okay, I'm still not
entirely sure what all I saw.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
No, we just saw a lot of intense action and
a couple of plot threads tied up into pretty little bows.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Yeah, I And and you're right, I just I think
a lot of it was like we haven't seen anything
with with Emeric and Sean in a while.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
It's been a while. But it's also it's also one
of those things where you know, it's been in some
of the tertiary material and like some of the books
and stuff, right, you know, and again you know, because
this whole, this whole story effort has been so interconnected.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
True. Yeah, like I said, not a bad book. I
just I got winded. And that's on me. It has
more to do with me than the book itself.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
So you're allowed, though, you're allowed, completely allowed.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Yeah, I guess said, I feel like I don't know,
I'm with you. I feel like this has just been
been dragged out a bit, a bit too much for me.
That's me. So we will take a short break and
we'll be back to talk about Legacy of Vader number five.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Absolutely, we will.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
All right, Legacy of Vader number five of question Mark
because it is an ongoing series for those of you
who can't keep that straight unlike myself, really really like
this cover, and I especially like the bottom the bottom
left quadrant of it where we've got the uh this
Holly grad epic planet and we got the like basically
(21:02):
the sighting.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Yes, it's the tactical display, tactical readout display on board
the star Destroyer of Naboob.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Yeah, I really really like that.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Yeah, it's a solid cover. It's a solid cover that
is by Derek Chu. By the way, So this is
the Legacy Invader ragn of Kylo Rin Part five written
by Charles soul Art is by Stefano Rafael. Color art
is by Nolan Woodard letters of my virtual calligrapiece Joe Carolinya.
As I said, Derek Chu is the cover artist. There
are variant covers, including A Force Awakened s tenth Anniversary
(21:34):
by Chris Stout Chris Sprouse, Carl's story in Neirajemnon, a
Ka has a variant and Rachel Scott has the Pride variant.
Carlos Law is the designer. Michael J. Basso is the
assistant editor. Mark Benicia is the editor. CB Sebelski is
the editor in chief. And for Lucasfilm, we've got editor
Grayce Harris, Senior editor Robert Simpson. That's interesting they have
(21:55):
they have elevated grace in both of these issues. To
the to the first above Robert Simpson. Creative director Michael Siglane.
Art director is Troy Alders. The creative art manager is
Bill Showstack. From the story group again Pablo Hidalgo, Matt
Martin and Emily screw Connie. So look, solid issue. You know,
(22:17):
this is Naboo. Kylo Ren has declared himself King of Naboo.
And we open up and we are above the city
of Spinnaker. You know, we have first ordered gun boats
coming down, first order strategic tactical tie fighters and we see,
you know, from this balcony, what is this? Who are
these people? What's happening? It's it's invasion, but can it
(22:39):
really be an invasion if there isn't a communications black
ups when it comes to Nebo And so we discover,
you know, aboard the finalizer up in orbit. Kylo Ren
is telling General Hawks, h you know, you know we're
gonna invade, and Hawks is a little bit mystifying. I'm
without most respects. Bring later. Would you be willing to
(23:01):
share with your reasons for invading Naboo and declaring yourself
it's King, I'm a supreme leader. I was already it's King.
What an arrogant pass? Well, of course, of course, but
I would submit that there might be other targets where
our military resources could be that are better allocated. For instance,
we still remain without a suitable shipyard after the losses
at star Killer Basin Great and I have prepared a
(23:23):
battle plan to take Karelia which would allow us to
Are they fighting back the Naboo No, not any significant way.
The population seems well, it's truly cowed as they should be.
Would face it the night of the first Order, I see,
says Kylo. And we cut the later and we're on
the surface, you know, and there's a small contingent of
ground troops when the first Order A very eager Beaver
(23:44):
officer leading the Stormtrooper Corps with a first Order version
of an atat or an atst walker with a looks
like an arm so it reminds me of something out
of the War of the World's Orders, Sir, destroy all resistant.
Any local who fights back is to be terminated with
extreme prejudice. Determine the identity of local leadership, make sure
(24:06):
they understand it except our authority. If they refuse, kill them,
and keep killing until you find someone who will follow
our commandants without question. In other words, the standard playbook. Indeed, Sergeant,
all right, this is work we know how to do.
Let's get to it. Boom, Sergeant takes a blasted fault
straight to the top middle forehead of his helmet drops
(24:27):
and there's a rebel firing his blaster gone and it's
radar technician Matt. Because it is so obvious that is
kylo Ren and he has for some reason decided to
go down to the surface and spur a rebellion by
the Naboo, and in the process to do so, he
(24:49):
takes out the entire retinue of First Order troops. You know,
the officers like.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
What do you do it?
Speaker 3 (24:54):
Kill him?
Speaker 2 (24:55):
He's only one man, you heard the order take him down,
and you know we have super Kilo leaping about doing
some awesome black widow kicks, and you know, you get
the First Order troopers like, how how is he doing this?
You know, just huh h, take down, take down, punch kirk,
swarm him. We have the numbers. He can't take us
(25:15):
all at once. Wrong and then you know he takes
control of the ATSD. We've got a malfunctioned weapons systems
are shoe shoe again, you know, you know, kills everybody
except of course the officer by the inperor's grace. No
oh no, please, no, I surrender. I can be valuable
to you. What was the term you used? Extreme prejudice
(25:39):
kills the officer. So of course this has got the
Naboo like, hey, who are you? How did you do this?
Let me show you? He takes everybody underground, you know,
to like his layer. You know, the First Order could
be defeated. They're over confident and we'll take full of
trisks in battle. They're weaker than they look. They have
suffered losses. We heard about that Luke Skywalker and Leo
(26:01):
Orcana defleted them on great Did you not know that
there's chatter everywhere propaganda? The First Order destroyed all but
a handful of his assistance fighters. They are meetingless decimated.
You seem to know a lot about the First Order?
What about their leader, that this king Kylo Wren. Should
we be fighting at all? What if he's a good
leader for Naboo. That's a good point. After all, we
made it through the empire, all right, Kylo Wrinn, Kylo
(26:24):
Wrinn will take everything of happen. This is literally all
I can think of is those two sketches on Saturday
Night Live, you know, where Adam Driver was the host
and he was playing Kylo Ren as undercover boss. Yeah,
And essentially that's what he's doing here. He is he
is leading a rebellion against the First Order on ne Boo.
(26:48):
And I can't quite figure out if this is like
over the period of like a couple of days, you know,
and it's just, you know, it's just him spouting his
First Order son Zoo philosophy, you know. But tack the
First Order at any wait points. They're used to quick
victories achieved the overwhooing force. They're not a familiar with
the slow grind of occupation. Well, how the heck long
have you been on the planet. Come on, let's give
(27:11):
us the give us some sort of time frame reference.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
And I was having a little bit of trouble with
that myself, and and I guess, I guess we kind
of figure out at the end why he's doing it,
But I'm still.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
He's doing it because he's an arrogant ass who deserves
to have his ass kicked.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Tell us how you really feel, Matt.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
Jesus, what a petulant child? No, I agree, And then
he's messaging Hawks, going, hey, how's it going with the rebellions?
The planets secure Supreme Leader.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
We've encountered some small pockets and resistance, but this is
to be expected and nothing of particular concern. That said,
if you were here, you know, maybe you could ever
see the efforts to eradicate any confusion. I am otherwise
occupy Jingal Huckson, unimpressed about all local resistance destroyed. Tell
me your plan to achieve this, and you know, Box,
It's like, yeah, that's fine. We're gonna focus on a
(28:10):
coastal city called Smeneker will position one of the seedhreadnoughts
above the city and erase it. I see approved. So
he immediately, you know, goes to the rebel cell and
and I do an air quotes by calling it a
rebel cell. Well, you know, and he explains what's gonna happen,
you know, he said, how do you know all this? Well,
I've told you I have a source on the inside.
(28:31):
My intelligence has been impeckable up to this point, hasn't it.
This has all gone too far. You said we had
a chance to win, that they would leave if we
put up a fight. Now you're telling us they're gott
to destroy one of our cities. When do you to
surrender for plenty kill millions of our people? You're right,
it has gone too far. The First Order won't accept surrender,
not now. They need to send a message. This is it.
We can either let those people die or we can
(28:52):
do something about it, like they or not. We have
to fight. You have no choice. It's got plenty of choices.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
Just leave right.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
So over the next couple of pages, you know, we
see the siege dreadnought, you know, break at Mo, come
and come over the city, and it's it's impressively drawn.
I guess I'm really happy with how Stefano has done this.
The colors are top notch. Hucks is you know he's
there he's ready, let's give these people a show. And
then they find that they're being assaulted by what left
(29:22):
of the Naboo ships, which ain't a lot. It's you know,
it's a lot of it's a lot of theirs, you know,
traditional starfighters. But then it's also like you know, old
scrapped X wings that have been modified with old tie
interceptor panels, you know, and they look cool.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
But then the point that it's been you know, it's
been decades since they've had uh had had a working military.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Yeah, and you know, and so you know, huncks like,
wait what we We'll just take him out and you know,
and then of course Kylo is guiding them and it's
basically telling them where to go. And then finally, in
all of this, hidden in the shadows this entire time
has been Vonnyer mechanical little spider guy. He goes, Kylo,
(30:07):
why are you doing this?
Speaker 1 (30:09):
And he's a voice of reason.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Vonnye of all people, you know, the people of this
world need to evolve, the need a catalyst to move
beyond what they have been. I'm giving it to them,
I see. You know. Meanwhile, aboard the Siege Dreadnought, General
Hawk's a significant portion of the enemy forces are headed
to our ventral side. They must be planning to target
the auto cannons. Certainly must be aware that we don't
have point defense cannons on the ship's underside. Without fighters support,
(30:34):
we can't. I'm aware of the issue. The tenant to
call for reinforcements. And vonnye just once again your linea
runs true. Vader hated himself at first too, What did
you say? And then he starts, you know, trying to
force choke Vonnie's head in the jar, you know, waving
it around from his body. Darth Vader hated himself at
the beginning. He had lost everything he cared about and
(30:55):
and on some level considered himself responsible. He was lost.
Just like, thank you, Kylo rend you have invented these
ridiculous reasons to attack the first order because it is
as close as you can to come, can close as
you can come to attacking yourself. And of course, Kylo,
you know who has always always warmly welcomed constructive criticism, right,
(31:22):
and that's in my sarcasm. Font snaps one of Vonnie's
you know, limbs, who do you think you are to
speak to me this way? Mande drops on the floor.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
You know.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Meanwhile, you know above them, you know the Neboo rebels
are being destroyed, but you'll still make it a solid Go.
Do you actually have anything to offer me, old man?
You promise me power? You've given me only words. Yes, Yes,
there is a vault within your grandfather's castle on the
most of far. You will never find it without me,
and even if you did, you would never be able
to open it. It contains all the power you could want.
(31:58):
I will give it to you when you were ready.
You will give it to me now. No, you would
destroy it and yourself, as you were attempting to do here,
beld rather die than past may there's a legacy to
one who is unworthy of it. Finally, the first order
ties and merge. You know, and what do you suppose?
(32:18):
We will make it be worthy and your enlightened destination.
It is simple, Kylo Wren. You are obsessed with killing
your past. We are our past, whether we like it
or not. What do you think you're actually trying to
destroy it? Boy yourself? Meanwhile, board the Dreadnought, our fighters
are routing the local ships turnal. We've lost one out
(32:39):
of Canada, but the second remains operational. Then fire the
blasted thing, destroy them, destroy them all stop ways to
give potential in these silly games. Mind somewhere true, to
put your hate, mind, yourself an enemy worthy of you.
And it finally, you know again, Boney appeals to Kyler,
(33:01):
lesser nature. Right, he's thinking, and then the auto cannon
is fired. You see that intensity in Kylo's eyes and
the panel and right below it you see the intensity
of the auto cannon starting to flare up. This is
supreme leader Kylo red where withdrawing from Naboo, all forces
sease hostilities immediately and returned to the fleet.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
No what why?
Speaker 2 (33:23):
And then you know then that boo pots, I don't
believe it. They're retreating. We fought them off, you know.
Then they cut back to Kylo underground and he takes
his visors offvisor goggles off. They come back, you know, rip,
roaring and happy in victoria. We did it. You were right,
you were right about every Oh nice to see your face,
especially with the dead. We owe you. No one on
(33:43):
Naboo will ever forget what you did for us. We'll
make sure of it, I see. And of course that
was the wrong thing to say. But of course, because
you know, Kylo has now killed everyone in the room.
You think I need an enemy, Vonne, someone who will
actually put up a fight. Oh, the irony, considering none
of these guys he a slaughtered put up a fight, right,
Someone who's defeat will actually could be something instead of
(34:04):
just taking and taking and taking. Someone might actually remember
killing and find me one. Then of course, you know,
you know again twirls his damn blade around for effect. Then,
of course, now Vonnie is excited. Yes, my prince, of
course I think I have just the thing. And then
our next issue is next Order sixty six. And of
(34:26):
course what happens, you know, according to the solicit and
Legacy of Vader six, well, you know, it looks like
a Hucks is planning to take over Karelia is successful.
B Kylo is looking for a survivor of Order of
sixty six. And the question is this, who is this
mysterious former Jedi and how did she escape the brutal
(34:49):
takedown of her people? So Clone Wars prequel trilogy meet
sequel trilogy.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Gonna be cool.
Speaker 4 (34:59):
So an entertaining issue, a bit over the top of
a couple of times. Yeah, you know, and I love
over the top, and even I'm like, what really, come on?
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Yeah, it's this is one of those situations that and
I've said this when we've had Original Trilogy era books
in which you know, the Emperor and Vader are the end.
The Empire in general are just ridiculously overconfident and it
is their undoing, and I just want to say, how
are people not smarter than this?
Speaker 2 (35:32):
Yeah, it's really great.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
Yeah, So that will do it for reviews. We'll take
another short break. We'll be back to discuss the lists
for next week.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
Hey, let's do it. Sounds like a great idea.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
Okay, Matt, what have we got for next week? Quick? Quick, well,
quick quick?
Speaker 2 (35:50):
We get Jedi Nice number five. On Wednesday we get
code Breaker number two with podammerin, and then last but
not least, on Tuesday, we get the Batches from the
Occlusion Zone trade paperback of Dark Horse Comics, which collects
the Forest of any Seriously, that's it there, we.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Go, bye, very nice, very nice. All right, we'll be
back next week to discuss those books, and we'll probably
have some wreck Room recommendations for next week. We've it's
been a long week here for both of us, so
we don't have any of this week but Monday. I've
got a got a music one for for next week
for sure.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
All right cool. I'll have a film one for sure.
