(00:02):
Hey, everybody walking back. Thisis is MRIs Perkins. I don't know,
but this song is a weird thingbecause it talks about Samurai sores and
China a little different. Worry aboutthis is pointing that this is the new
world. We don't worry about facts. You bees. That's right? They

(00:22):
were that well, welcome back.As I said, this is the song
to. This is SDL United SoccerSunday coming to you live from Harry Kyo's
studios at kf N S five Nightof the Fan in studio. Today we
have Daniels Steve Dean to graces withhis presence, even though he was almost
sidetracked by Oh hey, Starbucks. There's a big vote for him. Really

(00:46):
yeah, that's all on Facebook. You know what I was after the game
last night. I hit channel twoand I saw him. He was there.
I need he was on. Itwas O amazing. That's Ted Williams
over there. He's gonna have theWOSO update lot going on there. I'm
med Moondo your announcer back. Youdon't even know you just said that.

(01:07):
You don't even know what's going on. You're just making stuff, moving stuff
along. Buddy, somebody's gotta putme keep this ship on course. Here's
your host, mister Blue Canoe himself, Tom Tom Jones, and I floated
like a leaf. That's what I'msaying, Tom Jones, that's what ted

(01:32):
you guys lost me. You're gonnahave a tough time eating Doug Vaughn.
I know he's Doug Vaughn is herefor years and he's still making it.
He's still making it doing what he'spart of the vote for Daniel's thing.
Wait, I'm on this on theballot. Also a movie for few years.

(01:57):
Wow, that's that is staying power. So that is the ghost of
the A List. But I reallyI like Doug boy. It's glad.
I'm glad to be back and missedyou guys talking little woo was Oh.
The nws L was on a break, uh feet break, and the top

(02:20):
of the table was clear. TheOrlando Pride is running away right now with
the first place spot. They havewon six or seven in a row.
Next, we have Kansas City currentwith former US men's or women's national team
coach goingofsky. And we got theWashington Spirit who are like the US women's

(02:45):
national team about to get a newmanager. The gentleman who led Barsa,
Barca, no Real Madrid, right, one of those teams. Ted,
this is a new age. Wedon't worry about facts. Varsa to the
Champions League final, the Championship, right. So we've got a team that's

(03:07):
already doing well and bringing in oneof the top coaches in the world,
which is truly an exciting element rightnow, the UITT the NWSL is not
only attracting great players from all overthe world, they're also attracting great coaching
and that's that's a good thing.So I want to mention that the women's

(03:30):
national team played their first match undertheir new manager, Emma Hayes. She
was formerly with Chelsea, won manychampionships with Chelsea. The thing that I'm
excited about most and I have beenwith most manager changes, but for this
one really excited about is that shedoesn't have any bias within the US soccer

(04:01):
infrastructure. She's rand new to thefederation. So the lineup yesterday reflected that
Jane Campbell, a graduate of Stanfordwho has been one top goalkeepers in the
ENDWSL for years now. She wasthe goalkeeper of the Year last year.

(04:26):
Eliza Naire is injured and Jane Campbellgot a start. She had not had
a start with the women's team ina long time, and the last one,
if you googled it, it wasreally catastrophic. She had a couple
of really really hollers on the cornerkicks in her first ever start for US,

(04:51):
and she kind of never recovered fromit on the national team level.
But now she's back up top.Yesterday you had Miles Swanson gathering the Macario
Sophia Smith and you're Innity Rodman.Okay, not only that, we bored

(05:13):
du corner gigs. Okay, nowwe're playing South Korea. They're a twenty
team in the world, I believe. But folks, it's exciting to see
this lady. It's going to bringin new players and she's going to give
people a chance to show out.Did you say duke players? New players?

(05:33):
Players bringing in new players? Andit's ironic because remember when we had
Tom Dermani on before his six monthrain, his men's nash team coach or
women's team coach. He brought tonew players, but the culture was such

(05:53):
that the player had revolted. It'slike, what what's going on? They
hated it, you know, theveterans well, Emma Hayes, not only
has she been coming for more thansix months because she was finishing out her
contract at Chelsea Twile at Gilgore wassetting the stage for her to come.

(06:15):
And now she's here, and hey, everybody's a little nervous. Everybody's excited.
And to me, if there's goingto be a renaissance, a opportunity
for the US women's national team toget on a trajectory to be in the
top four again, like truly inthe top four, battling for worke ups,

(06:38):
it's with the manager like this,Wait a minute, you know you
in your opinion right now, asit stands at this current time, the
women's wait hold on the US women'snational team is not in the top four.
If we are in the top four, we're probably fourth. Whoa,

(06:58):
we got bounced in a quarter five? Yeah, but that I mean the
quarters, Tom, Have you forgotten? Yes? I have. In fact,
I can't remember what happened yesterday. In fact, I can barely remember
what day it is. So Imean it's Sunday because it's all about us.
Was dominant, Yeah forever. Theyare no longer dominant, but the

(07:20):
top four fear them anymore. SoI'm excited about this. So hold on
the top. So teams in generaldon't like it's not a Manchester United situation
where there's there's even teams in theyou know, the twenty and thirtieth rankings,

(07:42):
they just don't. They don't fearthem. We're only beating them to
nothing, to end to nothing, which I'm happy about because it makes the
overall landscape with women in soccer alot more exciting to watch. But we
are really ripping on people again andwinning six seven nothing. It's gonna be

(08:03):
because we hungry players playing a stylethat is not not not kicking into the
six. Okay, those those cornerkick goals were not the classic US women's
national team, you know, serveit in and hope it was. They

(08:28):
were very well run plays, allof them. We're back back posts.
They were good goals. And youknow another element that just take note of.
When Lindsay Horan left the match, she handed her captain's armband to twenty
three year old Naomi Germa, whonow we're number four, which was Becket's

(08:52):
Towerbrut's number. So Naomi Germa willbe the captain of this team at some
point. Interesting interesting. I feellike, one, I love this segment
that Ted does, but it's it'seven more exciting when I feel like I
can really get involved with it butalso bring a unique perspective. And yesterday
I got the chance to go downto Fenton at Worldwide Technology Soccer Park and

(09:20):
the Class four Championship State Championships forgirl soccer was what I covered, and
it was Corey Yezo taken on Summitand man watching you know some of this
talent. A lot of the ScottGallagher girls were playing for Corey a Zoo.
They jump out to a three zerolead early and it was this striker
they had who also played on thewing a little bit, Maddie de Maria,
and she was incredible and probably thesecond most dominant high school soccer player

(09:46):
girls soccer player I've seen since.Ironically, I filmed my last day in
Colombia as a senior at Miszoo wasthe day after graduation. I volunteered and
I filmed Hannah Larson, who nowplays for the women's soccer team, is
a fantastic player. Watched her justdominate on the field. She was incredible.
But the coolest thing is I sawa bunch of people with Alex five

(10:07):
her t shirts out in the standsreally really neat. And just to see
the level of competition the way someof these girls dominate has been really really
cool. And of course Saint Louisis such a great hub for it.
You mentioned Becky Souerbrun, but butto see a firsthand when a lot of
the times with the prep stuff I'mstuck in studio was really really neat.

(10:28):
And yeah, seeing the support forAlex was pretty cool out there too.
Yeah. You know, it's areally a great time for women women's sports,
and I've been watching women sports. That was a good My Barons took
me to a lot of those softballtournaments and we had a professional women's softball

(10:48):
team in Saint Louis Immers lay downin Valley Bart unfortunate name. Well,
you know what, they were goodand and I've always enjoyed women's sports.
I grew up watching women's women's softballat Fox Park. Yeah, fast pitch.
Yeah, so right now, youknow you've got Gaylin Clark and her
half glass, right, and youmake an impact on the WNBA got the

(11:09):
Women's GOLG World Series in Oklahoma City, and it's it's fun stuff. There's
so much good sports on right now, Men's ncable ay baits all region those
are happening, and anybody, truly, anybody, it's fun stuff. Only
because you guys brought up softball.I've got to give a shout out where

(11:31):
I grew up. We call itthe nine to five six the Rio Grand
Valley. It is very rare thatyou compete with the rest of the state
of Texas in any kind of highschool competition. You know, if you
can make it to the Elite eightor the region final, you know you
you're historic. Historic team. Well, we had not one, but two
softball programs, five A and sixA make it to the state finals and

(11:56):
one of the teams lost. Thenext team was down nine to three in
the bottom of the seventh inning andcome back and rally and walk off with
a grand slam to win the RioGrande Valley's first ever state softball championship.
And when first and you on thisshow, it was when you know,

(12:16):
one I covered the area, obviouslyI was an athlete in the area.
And the great thing about the valleyis because there's you know, it's a
very Hispanic driven culture. In ninetyeight percent of the population's Hispanic because it's
such a family oriented area and youknow, lower income and very much rooted
in in almost Mexican culture versus USculture. Man, when one person goes

(12:39):
down and somebody's making history. Theway this rally with their way, the
area rallies, I mean, I'mtalking like a two and a half hour
area. This should be like ussupporting a Columbia team with our whole passion.
The way the valley rallied around whatI called West Loco. But it's
Westlico, man, West was goingLoco after that comeback, Yeah right,

(13:01):
Oh, they're probably well for sure, for sure, there will be some.
I mean one of the football teamsmade it to the final four,
ended up getting beat seventy five tozero. But when they made it to
the final four, it was standingroom onely out of Texas. That's one
of the things the valley has Texashigh school football stadiums. I mean they
are huge, and they ACKed itfor this little team that ran the triple

(13:22):
option in five. I mean,it's shout out to the Valley. We
loved it. You gotta shouted out. Shout out. Is that Texas your
time and girls sports as well softball. That's Jay Ferguson. Then that was
Daniel step wrapping up. Who's whois singing now? This is J.
J. Fergus No, no,no, Jay Ferguson had the point about
softball. This singing is Daniel classicyacht ron right probably considered rock. I

(13:46):
don't know, a little bit ofrock, a little little smooth for that.
Jay Ferguson, of course, uhwith his dad was in the seminole
band called spirit Remember oh yeah,oh yeah, the dad was there and
Step farther and they played that. They were featured in an obscure but cultish
movie called The Model Shop, whichis a big deal in the late sixties.

(14:11):
I've seen it. I find ita contemporary cult classic. But it
inspired Tarantinos once once upon a timein Hollywood, and Greta Gerwood said it
inspired Barbie. So I don't know, but if you want to know more
about it, you can also watchEcho in the Canyon, the great documentary
about that whole time Aerius movie. And that's your ed Mundo going into Sweeze.

(14:31):
This guy was in the Echo Park, his band, his band with
Spirits. I mentioned it, sothey all came out of that semi fun
late sixties until the storm passed andwe fell down laughing in the wind grass.
But the body's drying in the sunshine. Sweet sunshine, so shot by

(14:56):
La Jay Ferguson. That thing didwell on the charts. Can you can
you I recall you liked that songthough, Can you make a quick quick
change so we can get Daniel's song? Oh? Is he still gonna talk?
Do I have a song? Yeah? You have a song today today
you do? No, not him. There's a little truth. Not the

(15:20):
song I perform, not the song, No, not no. Tell your
story about this one quick at Okay. The reason we're playing glorious Okay,
now turn that music off is thatthe guy that opens that up with the
shot, his name is John Cicada. That's a long way to go,

(15:43):
but man, the Cicadas are likeI mean, they've seen toned down.
If you listen to him, theysing that like that? Do they?
Okay? All right, here wego. The basketball Joe had a basketball,
Jos old baby, Yes, basketballGeorge ever say so was a little

(16:14):
bigger. I always be driven. In fact, the sec guitars driven in
the home. George Harrison, GeorgeHarrison, No wayd My mama fucked me
a basketball basketball and I love thatI took that basketball with it. Every
little Daniel carry that basketball with theland. Oh ladies and gentlemen. That's

(16:42):
what I can't sleep that the manfrom the Velvet help let us. Jonas,
he's the biggest Magics fan I know. And Daniels. How about them
MAVs. How about them MAVs.I still I'm still a little uncomfortable by

(17:07):
the thought of it, because itjust doesn't quite compute in my brain that
we are in the NBA Finals. But but it is pretty exciting. Luka,
Doncic hit what in your mind? What do Luca? And Uh?
Who's the dude from New York?Jalen Brunson, the dude from New York.

(17:27):
This man says, yeah, wellthat's who he is. What do
they have in common? What arethey have in common? Yep, uh
not a time body build. No, yes, Jalen Brunson six' one,
built like a linebacker. Lucas sixy nine, built like a linebacker.

(17:48):
They have, they have, theyhave. Sure he's taller, but
they have. They're not skinny guys, right. They are built for contact,
both of them, and they bothdo that stutter. Their whole game
is stutter, move in, moveback, move in, move back,
and guys can't you know, peoplecan't guard him. I mean some some

(18:10):
guys can guard him, but Idon't know. I don't see anybody can
guard Luca. No, yeah, nobody can guard them. I mean,
honestly, if you're talking about oneon one defending, Kyrie is probably the
hardest person in the NBA game.Kyrie is is when he's on on song,
I mean, which he was inwhat three of the three of the
five games of the series. Butfolks, Daniel Is, I love it.

(18:30):
He's a he's a big Mavericks fan. I'm a big basketball fan.
I'm an NBA fan, and Ithink Luka doncic is I've been looking for
this, Oh my god, howto find it? All our viewers,
all our viewers on this radio programBasketball Jones, right this, but just

(18:56):
because of the little diapers he's got, who he's got? All this could
be you singing that song I gotI got the basketball in the diaper.
It's an iconic photo, oh man, back in the blonde, white hair
days. That wow, crazy crazyright there? All right, So Tom,

(19:18):
clearly I haven't spoken enough during thistwo hour program, so I need
to talk. We're getting going toget our money out of you. I've
had so much, so much tothink about. One thing, the softball
thing I wanted to mention, That'swhat came to mind. But then when
you laughed at the history joke earlierat Mundo, it cracked me up.
And then you talking about your littlehistory before we went to break right after

(19:44):
Tom, the thing about the bullet. Yeah, I'm thinking to myself,
wait a second. For the folksthat don't know, I typically do trivia
Tuesday nights at Jay McGrath's with DanDillon right off of Maryland A. And
I'm thinking to myself, you knowwhat, I really want to hang out
with Tom. Maybe at Mundo's available, Let's go do something. And what

(20:06):
better thing to do than to bringthem to trivia. I would have a
ringer of a squad. No waywe lose. The only the only thing
you can have to guarantee is thatEd sit with us the entire time.
That would have helped. But alsoTom Shores, who's over here giving me
a history lesson on a Sunday morning, sat there staring at me like they

(20:27):
were asking questions in Latin, becausemy man did not answer a single question.
No, I did one maybe one. But it was when all of
us it was like, what coloris the sky? And Tom was like,
guys, I'm thinking it's blue,but I'm not sure. Well I
wasn't sure. Let's go ahead andput it down just like it's great.

(20:49):
Maybe this was at seven pm.Oh my god. Oh I was ready
for the brain was fried by thatpoint, but man, I was,
I was. I think I thinkwe tied for second. He was complaining
about half our difference between start inthe conference. Of course, of course,

(21:14):
I'm like, a great game,is man, ridiculous? Ridiculous?
But I stand you know, Istand here today, still enjoying the moment,
and they don't know that what isthat shirt you have on? You
don't know that this shirt is Ithink this logo is an alternate version of

(21:37):
the Roma kit. Sunday Soccer teamsJersey shout out to the scheme, hont
we have a third place game shortlyafter this? Oh yeah, so hopefully
we can hold down a podium spot. Yeah, that'd be important. But
the other question I had that Ifeel like we glossed over this way to

(21:59):
come, yeah, we probably did. But we were talking about the ghosts
of Real Madrid. We were talkingabout kind of the ghosts in soccer.
Who if any, because clearly weneed some that are some angels on the
pitch rather than in the outfield.Who is the ghost of Saint Louis City
s C? Right now? Imean, is it? Can we get
Harry Keyo's ghost out there? No? I think did Jim? You need

(22:22):
a finisher? Jim? Jim's ghostis still in his very living body,
though we need a ghost? Oh? Do you think he wouldn't be insulted
that I said that when I didn'trealize you're saying you got to be dead.
Well, here's the thing. IfTy time might be shown up,
uh for the for the last halfhour, so he's he's the question because

(22:45):
he'll have got to be Harry, right? And then who is the coach
at SLEW before Harry's another legend?Wasn't it Gelker? Was it? I
don't know this is playing up thereright? Or you're talking about playing Well,
yeah, we need some player.Yeah, well Harry was a hell
of player. Yeah, but Ithink he was a defender, wasn't he.
We'll figure out what was that guythat you and I were talking about

(23:06):
Ted, the dude that was dominatingthat All Star game and indoor Precky.
He had like a funky, likeEastern European name that one. Yeah,
that guy is Baltimore. Okay, the make of it. Shoot, it
was an All Star game, soit's probably a bunch of a bunch of
people. Yeah, I like thatname. You like you're talking about the

(23:29):
game I went to four Yeah, said it was at the say of your
damn. Yeah, it's got likea little little extra. So Ted is
fantastic. He sends me like ninetytwo Instagrams posts a day, and each
one is more unique than what doeshe cut down then only ninety two?
Yeah you know that. He tries. Yeah, he tries to keep the

(23:52):
tame with me because he knows I'mbusy. But the reality is is when
I get the chance to send himsomething, it's the best thing ever because
I'm like, yeah, man,Ted's gonna think this is cool. And
then he's too busy doing logistics.I send it to him though, and
he's like, oh, yeah, that guy, I already know what I
was there, and I was like, oh that kind of I thought it
was really cool and unique, andhe's like, oh, yeah, it
was cool. I knew the guy. I was there at the game,

(24:15):
and I'm just sitting here like, well here, I was thinking I was
gonna find this really unique hidden gym, and Ted was just there. No.
Ted's been there, done that, got the T shirt seasoned. So
yeah, so yeah, those arethe two things I really wanted. I
guess we got to wait for timefor the ghost conversation because yeah, I
think so you could listen to thecar I was gonna say. Problem is,

(24:37):
I'm gonna have to go here ina second. So got that big
third place game, third place game. The pressure is unbearable. I also
have to stop by Fox two topick up the headphones I left over there.
Oh, we got a busy morninghere. We got a busy morning
and we're heading over to the EnjoyIllinois three hundred. Not bad. A
little NASCAR. What the NASCAR eventover? Yeah, Worldwide Technology race went

(25:02):
some time. They get that otherrace done last night because they that was
delayed a little bit. Kevin Ryan'spulled up back to the station around seven,
so it wasn't two delayed. Imean, I'm thinking last year's Indie
race. I believe it was eitherthe Indie or Yeah. No, it
couldn't have been the NASCAR because thatwas a crash that sent it to overtime.

(25:23):
But the Indie race was delayed bydecades. I mean, I don't
know if it was last year.It was dark outside by the time we
got back. Yeah, that's whyKevin did most of you know Kyle Busch.
I was talking to him earlier lastweek and he got punched in the
face. Very dry human being, not a great interview, but he's a

(25:51):
good driver. We'll see what happened. Super secret text line. Oh,
Daniel, you got to respond tothis. I responded to all the haters
this person. No, this isn'thating, well it kind is this person
who I don't know. I justknow that by phone number something else.
Tai could maybe Tay could tell mewho said it. Went to the game

(26:12):
last night in Miami, I'm guessing. First of all, the stadium was
a dump compared to ours. I'vereffed some, so I don't bitch about
refs, but that ref was nevergoing to give us a break. Their
first goal came after a nasty foulon Klaus, which transitioned into a goal.

(26:32):
Their second was the result of atrip on our defender. Cidy was
begging him to look at it,but he wasn't interested. Arts the highest
payroll in the league versus the lowest. The league needs that team to win
or else they wasted a lot ofthem. I wasn't wasn't too hurt about
the call on Merchanic because as muchas I'm very aware of what Luis Swatts

(26:57):
knows he's doing both in giving andreceiving maybe a little knock here and there,
I don't think that one was oneof those. I'm hardly soccer attacked.
This is a very critical point inlife, not just in soccer.
If someone has a history, along history of breaking the rules, why

(27:22):
is it unreasonable to say, well, you know what, you've been doing
this stuff for a long time. We're going to take that into consideration.
But it's like the days we livein now, it's like, oh no,
none of that counts, right,And you could say that's in politics,
or you could say that's with LuisSuarez. You know who did he

(27:45):
bite recently? Well, you can'tlike the ref There ought to be like
a wrap sheet, right, likeI go, oh, look at the
history. Yeah, he probably didthat on purpose. No, this is
an individual act that Well, that'sthe way they're supposed to see a call
like that, though, and thatallows people what do you call the dark
arts. Yes, people who werepracticed in the art of deception, as

(28:10):
the Rolling Stone said, to thrive. If you you know, it's just
like, oh, well, thisthis guy's just like everybody else. No,
he's not. This guy bit twopeople. You know, he's willing
to bite people when there are cameras. Huh oh, No, we're gonna
disregard that. He you know,it's just like that was an incidental content.

(28:32):
Okay, that's the world we livein. I had that same conversation
when we played LAFC last year withTim Parker because Jojo Killini was doing this
same stuff right, and like, nothing will ever drive me more crazy than
when it was Italy that won thelast euro Right they beat England and when
they were going into the penalty kicks, how Kiolini like aggressively shook who was

(28:59):
it? Who was its hand?Whoever? I guess it was Henderson.
Must have been Henderson who was captainingthat England team. I don't recall,
Okay, I think it was Henderson, but anyways, like aggressive, like
over animated. When he was itwas super the goalie for Argentina who does
all this stuff that you know what, yeah, that you shouldn't get away

(29:21):
with. Goalies are fine goalies.I don't mind though, because they're supposed
to be crazy. But Kiolini andthen knocks over was it Jaydon Sancho or
bokay Osaka when they had a breakawayand he just destroys him, he gets
a yellow and because he's laughing andlike all that kind of stuff. So
I asked Tim Parker about it becausehe was doing the same stuff in this
MLS game. The great news wasCity actually won that game. I was

(29:41):
like, Tim, how do youdeal with it? And it oh man,
it made me laugh and it droveme crazy all at the same time,
Tim was like, yeah, youknow, yeah, he does that
kind of stuff. But he's sucha nice guy. And I'm like,
is he though? Is he?Or is he playing with you? Is
he? Are you so coming tothe dark arts, Tim? Because Tim,

(30:03):
you're the opposite. You just shovepeople all the time and everyone knows
that there's no deceit in in whatyou do. I wish you don't do
it. Yeah, you just shovepeople. They do it and get away
with it. That should drive youcrazy. Why do you think he's a
nice guy? And uh and hewas just laughing. But again, they

(30:23):
won, so I'd be curious toknow what they thought about Louis Wattis who
was knocking people over in the backgroundsTim Parker included on one of the uns
where they should have scored, butBurkey made that incredible, just got knocked
over. Yeah, you don't wantto get bit. But Berkie didn't exchange
jersey with him. Yeah, right, that would have been awkward. And
also, yeah, I gotta imagineif you were going to exchange jerseys at

(30:47):
least this time Louis Wattas scored agoal for you, so you could have
you could have at least been like, hey, brother, thanks for the
thanks for the goal. There.I don't know. It just strives me
crazy that that. Oh your historydoesn't count. Yeah, let me look
at my list and make sure Igot all my notes. Okay, yeah,
I think I got everything. Iwanted to talk about. How many
goals are you going to get today? Today? So the problem with that

(31:10):
statement there, Tom is I scoredthe goal of my career. As I
mentioned, I think two weeks ago. The following week in our final four
game, I scored two early,we went up to nil, and then
we ended up losing five to threeor four to three. Me as a
goal scorer is exciting but does notbreed results. I'm a hustle guy and

(31:32):
an effort guy to score going goal. That's actually a funny point. You
say that because I have not beendesignated as our backup goalkeeper. Our captain
typically plays backup, but he iscrucial in our back line for defense,
and I used to play. Thatwas the only soccer position I ever played.
So I should probably just bite thebullet and play goalie. I want

(31:55):
the exercise. I want to runaround, you know, So maybe I'll
do like a half in goal justfor Ted. I guess should come prediction
or not? Prediction on the scorereal quick, you guys busy at noon?
You can come a while. Okayto it? Now you should come.
I don't know we're playing. I'mjust gonna spit ball four two scheme
hawks F C scheme hawks FC Daniel. That's the and you heard it here

(32:21):
first. We'll look for it onSports Wrap Up tonight. Thanks, we
got to step away, Daniels leavingus. Hopefully we got another guest coming
in the studio. We'll see whathappens on that. Once again, this
is STL United Soccer Sunday coming toyou live from KFN S five niney the
Fan with James Brown. Thank you, James. Loving happened way a minute,

(33:08):
something golden wrong. Someone from thephone, three o'clock in the moon
talking about she can make it rightagain. Happiness when you really feel good

(33:32):
from bad. There's nothing wrong beingin love with someone. Yeah, Oh
that I happened. Green, getyour busted church. I love this guy's

(33:59):
voice, the reverend now Green. You just gotta love that guy's voice.
It's so good. I love itwhen you talk this way. Hey man,
I'll tell you what else I love. He did a song, co
wrote, a recorded a song withLoud of Love at the Old Standard.
Ain't it funny how the time slipsaway? Which is spectacular? Just hit

(34:20):
that buttoned? Wait where just flashthere's playing the bells. Hit the bell
the bells are ringing after it's magic, Lady, how long have we been
in this studio? We don't evenneed to discuss that a significant amount of
time. Ted has finally he hasmastered the door, released locks so people
can come in magic and not justanybody walks in the studio. It's not

(34:45):
anybody can do that. It isanybody could walk in. No, not
anybody could walk in. I don'tknow what you're talking about. I'm trying
to build up our guests here. Our guest doesn't need no building up,
don't need no bad You don't needno oh okay, So we got to
get right to this, ladies andgentlemen, none other than talk kio ty.

(35:10):
You probably don't even need him.You know, you don't need him
because we're not gonna what do youget him? You get him? So
can you hear me as I'm speaking? I do? Okay? So you
know Daniel Steve I saw him onthe parking lot. Okay. Did he
tell you you got to talk aboutghosts? He did say mentioned the goat

(35:31):
Okay. So, uh, whatDaniel was talking What we were talking about
is the seeming failure of city tobe able to cash in on chances.
Well, I'll start off in generalizeif if you were a casual fan,

(35:52):
yes, were you not entertained lastnight? Oh? Absolutely? Six goals,
six goals. The goat has agoal and assist. If you get
to witness that, if you upto go there, yeah, travel,
oh yeah, pay whatever the brightfor tickets. Yea, Tom Noosel was

(36:13):
there. Yeah, Paco Chavario wasthere. But yeah, there were Saint
Louis people that were definitely there. He may be el Woppo, but Tye
is el jam. But to yourpoint, soccer is a cruel sport.
Cruel it is if if you're apartisan, I'll tell you what. If

(36:37):
you're a Miami fan, if you'rean inter Miami fan, you're not that
happy. You've got the goat. You've got three other Demi got the goat,
and they've got three other Demi godsand then Barcelona, so people never
talk about yeah, and and theycan't beat the lowly Saint Louis City team
on their home turf. So soif you're a partisan for Miami, you're

(37:00):
not happy. And what's great aboutSaint Louis fans now? And I'll tell
you what I think, teams ingeneral in Major League Soccer give Inter Miami
too much respect. And it showedwhen Saint Louis plays their usual chip on
their shoulder style, goes in forevery ball, pressures all parts of the
field, not on every minute ofthe game. Obviously you can't do that,

(37:23):
especially with the humidity and everything, but you could see that they are
vulnerable, even top players if they'rereally pressured and they're a little bit past
their prime. So that's yeah, all of a sudden, City has a
chance to go in the lead threedifferent times, and and potentially when it

(37:44):
was three to two, they hadfour or five outstanding chances to make it
four to two, and that endedup being the crux of it. And
if you're a partisan for Saint Louis, you're tearing your hair out because you
could have beaten them, right,But yeah, it's and you know a
lot of people are being hyper criticalabout some of the substitutions and so forth.
Yeah, you can nipit, nitpick, but h to go in

(38:07):
there against that that it's a topteam in Major League soccer, Yeah,
on their home field against the goatand you get a point. Boy,
that looks pretty good really, ifif you're unbiased about it, if you're
kind of neutral about it, butif you're a partisan, neither neither partisan
for Miami or parties for Saint Louisis happy. Yeah. I guess that's

(38:29):
my I guess that's my problem.I'm not partisan enough because I can see
it. It's like six goals, right, well not not and Burkee saves
burkeie. Yeah, the only reasonthat we got a point is because of
Burkee once again. Yeah right,Uh, even though I called them Klaus
earlier in a terrible misstatement, butyou would agree that our goal finishing is

(38:57):
it's it's not just the goal. It's like that last pass, it's who
was that too? Yeah, itbreaks down. I mean it's obviously it's
harder than it looks. Yeah.Otherwise, Uh, you know, every
forward would be making ten million dollarsa year because he's you know, scored
twenty goals a year. So andthe goalkeeping it can be a factor obviously

(39:20):
too. But when it comes rightdown to it, when when you're going
at full speed and you're under pressureby a defender and you're trying to find
a way to beat the keeper allat once, Yeah, there's there's a
lot of things that could go wrongin terms of being But when you think
back, that's why guys like Cherryon Ree right or you know, right,

(39:42):
up there with the all time greatsbecause they finished those chances because their
mind works differently well it, youknow. I mean, yeah, I
was a coach in the back inthe day as well, and I know
in some of those academies in France, which Cherry on Ree was a part
of, they design their training sessionssuch that the overwhelming majority of any sort

(40:07):
of exercise they're doing for possession, for tackling, for numbers up, numbers
down, and each rep ends witha finish on goal, full size goal
with a goalkeeper. Right. Soit comes down to being comfortable and doing
it. You know, it's arepetition like any other sport, so that

(40:30):
when you're in that situation, youknow what it feels like, you know
how to handle it, deal withit, and and and get the actual
result you're looking for. Move Well, it's like it's like muscle memory,
you know, I mean, itbecomes instinctive. And I still I watch
training sessions here, there and everywhereperiodically, you know, with a fairly

(40:51):
educated eye, and I see toomany people that are running training sessions.
Well it's an outstanding exercise, butit's all it's all possession, and that
possession just doesn't mean anything. Well, you can finish. That's somewhat proved
by the style that Saint Louis Cityplays. But but, but the fact
is I was coaching with Sporting SaintLouis, which now has a different name.

(41:15):
Dan Donogan runs the program out thereat sport Port. What I loved
about it is we had a lotof space, Like a lot of the
Gallagher practices. By definition, theyhave so many teams, you get one
six of the field and it's hardto do full sized goal things and finishing
and stuff. But we had alot of goals. We had a lot
of fields, and I had dadsthat would move the goals for me,

(41:35):
and I tried to do what Ijust mentioned that those French academies were doing
virtually every exercise finished, ended, culminated. They're each rep did in a
finished to a full sized goal witha goalkeeper, even if it was a
dad, or even if it wasme right a body. Yeah, and
we have a lot of players diethey can only finished with one too.

(41:58):
Yeah, I mean, I mean, but that's still at every level.
You see that in the champions Ifyou were bro you should be all finished
with the foot. You should andyou would think, well, Vassal left
got one with his rights right,You would think that it would be who
you do work on it. Likebasketball, if you know a guy can

(42:21):
only you know, Kyrie shoots lefthanded? Oh my god, regularly.
Yeah. I have a friend atthe end of the game. I have
a friend who coached Sea with andwe played a lot of men's basketball together.
And he was ambidextrous and he droveguys nuts because they did not know
where he was gonna go. Yeah, well, and he could change his

(42:42):
mind the last second to right. He was a post guy, wasn't big,
he wasn't tall, but he waslong, and I'd get him the
ball when we needed a basket. And it's like Larry Bird, you know.
But that reminds me of a Ronaldinhoquote, which I think was fantastic.
You know. He he did allall this crazy stuff on the ball
to beat opponents and and and someoneproposed to him or asked him like a

(43:07):
journalist said, well what do youWhat do you do when you're up against
a defender who has seen you enoughtimes and he thinks he knows what what
you're going to do and he's ableto stop you. He goes, no,
no, no, he goes,I invent something. He says,
If I don't know what I'm gonnado, how is he going to know
what I do I'm gonna do?So, I mean, that's that's what
it comes down to, that kindof creativity. Oh, super secret text

(43:29):
line. Your guyser wants to knowif we could have a report on whether
or not Louis Suarez bid anyone duringthe game. Do you have any insight
in We're gonna get back to thatreal quick because I has to let everybody
know you're listening to KF and S. But very good point, so coming
to you. He did trip markanahTy. It was just totally an accident

(43:55):
because Suarez doesn't have a cheats evercheating No, he has never cheated.
So let's just look at this one. Here's a really good point that that
that I read something somewhere about itor someone mentioned it to me. If
a defender accidentally trips a forward inthe box, doesn't matter if he meant

(44:16):
it or not. Yeah, yeah, okay, So it shouldn't matter at
all whether Suarez meant to trip ourcottage if he did it, so what
Yeah, if what's good for thegoose is good for the gander. Yeah,
yeah, which it should be nogoal because he tripped a defender in
the box, even if he didn'tmeant to, which he probably did.

(44:37):
You're right, I got another supersecret text from the sponsor. It wouldn't
hurt for you to ask Ty ifafter picking the European groups, if he
had to place to pick third placeteams that would advance out of the groups,
who would they be? Are anythird place finishing is gonna advance out

(45:00):
of there? I haven't really studiedit. Oh, I'm really looking forward
to Spain Italy. Yeah. Well, here, let me give you.
Let me give you the groups andyou is it fair? Do you really
pay attention to all this? Iwill that I'm in right right, That's
where I am. It's still acouple of weeks, so so uh.
Here, I'll give you Alex Weber, who a friend, a longtime friend

(45:23):
of the show and a guy whoreally pays attention to it. I'm going
to give you his picks on groupA Germany, Scotland, Hungary, Switzerland.
Alex picks Germany obviously to win,and Switzerland, uh to advance.
Bill says Hungary is going to advanceout of that. Group B is Spain,

(45:49):
Croatia, Italy, Albania. Whoare you to pick to advance out
of that Italy? Okay, Alexpicks this is one of his dark horses.
Would just be glad Burkey didn't getpicked by Switzerland. Yeah. I
almost said a bad word there,Croatia. Group C Slovenia, Denmark,

(46:10):
Serbia, England. Serbia is alwaystough. Yeah, English is loaded with
yes. So Alex picks England andDenmark. So does Bill. Oh,
I'm sorry Alex picks Slovenia to comeout of there. I don't see that

(46:32):
one. But but they're in theright. That's that's my problem with all
of this. Group D Poland,Netherlands, Austria, France. He picks
France to win and Netherlands to advance. The Bill agrees with that. That
could be the group of death.Austria and Poland is Poland? Well,

(46:54):
Poland's got yeah, but god he'syeah, yeah, he's kind of plateau.
Yeah, long in the tooth iswhat I was thinking, Not that
that's a bad thing generally. Uh. Here here's here's a favorite group.
Belgium, Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine. Rooting for Ukraine. Yeah, yeah,

(47:17):
Alex picks Belgium. Uh Slovakia. No, I'm sorry, Alex picks
out Belgium in Ukraine. Bill says, for the last time, I'm picking
Belgium and we're gonna get to seeModrich Croatia. Yeah, we got them.

(47:42):
Where are they? How about theChampions League final? Talking about I
mentioned soccer is a cruel sport.Oh my god. Yeah, Doortman could
have been up three nil easily. They hit the post. They have breakaways,
they have chances, you know, just going barely why it's incredible,
but there you go, real Madrid. They just get it done. They

(48:05):
hung on and they're so talented. You could see the tide changing about ten
fifteen minutes into that second half. But beyond that it was really dorm It
was all the upper head, right, it was all you know. But
again, when you have that levelof quality, it's going to come through
it. And eighty thousand people, how awesome is that? And you have

(48:27):
Tony Cruz with his a fresh haircutthat I really I want to get my
haircut like that, just so Iwant to have hair like that. The
first thing. Yeah, Sally's gettingjealous about Tony. Oh no, no,
I mean just total respect. Ohyeah, total respect because the guy

(48:49):
you look at like a guy likede Bruyner. Same thing speaking of Belgium.
Right, Uh, that can almoststop the game, right, He
must be thinking the entire game ofwhat he would do next. But then
when he gets the ball, thegame stops. Well this is a bit

(49:09):
of a stretch, but Luvin's presencefor City on the field does some of
that in that when he has theball, he's probably even when he's under
pressure, he's probably not gonna loseit, right, And that frees other
people up to get into a littlebit better positions, be a little more
adventurous in terms of their creativity aswell. And it's a catalyst. And

(49:31):
that's what you're talking about when youtalk about those guys it the game stops.
What you mean is that it's enoughfor their teammates to get involved in
to create things as well because becauseof their special the specialness of their skull.
And I totally agree with you aboutLouvin, even though I don't I
don't know why anyone would listen tome when you're talking, Well, I

(49:53):
got the microphone. Is that Louvinbrings that obviously not to the level that
Kruz does because he's just that gooda player, and you know, the
the the ability to do that iswhat is that line breaker pass? You
know that the game, Like thegame was going terribly for Madrid, you'd

(50:15):
have to say they had Steipy likeall the pre game. Oh by the
way, uh, Lenny Kravitz asthe opener for the Champions League? Are
you going my way? I mean, I got admit, I love it.
I love it, but I'm thinking, I wonder what these people are
thinking about Lenny Kraft. But whatever, Uh, they just I mean Jude

(50:40):
Bellingham, who was obviously a reallygood player and it was in all the
pregame build up anything. Yeah,he is immature in some ways. He's
got all the tools right in termsof his mobility, athleticism, his skill
on the ball, and he's playingwith Madrid welly the Galacticos right right,

(51:06):
But yeah, he does yet havethat sort of global understanding of what's going
on in any particular stage of agame. But he did come around in
the second half because they you know, space, there's usually more space in
the second half. But like thecoach, the coach what's his name?
Okay, is phenomenal obviously, InspectorDreyfus, Okay, okay, But he

(51:34):
he must have a specialness with theplayers that he is able to commit,
because I'm I'm guessing at that level, how many of these guys can you
actually talk to, right in termsof, Hey, this is what you
need to do. He's been there, he's done it. Yeah, Zaddan
had that because what he had doneon the field. Also, Ancelotti won

(51:55):
a World Cup with Italy. Heplayed for Italy in eighty two, so
it's it's not like he didn't accomplishsomething as a player as well, and
right, that always helps, Ithink at the top level. Yeah,
where are we time wise? Okay? What uh? What else do you
want to talk about before I loseyou? There's Cope America. Oh yeah,

(52:19):
I'm going to talk to your friendtickets. No, I don't.
I've got three grandkids. What's goingaway? I don't think I'm going any
what what? What's Yeah, you'regoing to the living room or you're going
to the kids. You have tododge all the toys, right, right,
and what's good? Tell me thelogistics of Cope America this year?

(52:40):
Well, it's so cool in thatthey've included all three North American teams and
they've got I mean, it's it'sit's an extent. It's a massive tournament,
and there's so much talent, uhthat sometimes you don't see I mean
the South American players in particular.Yeah, you see the ones that go
to Europe. There's some really goodplayers playing in Argentina, in Chile,

(53:04):
in Brazil and Colombia that you're goingto see and they use this. Don't
think those guys and their agents aren'tthinking, hey, this is their chance
to make a splash and make animpression and get a contract in Europe because
they're likely to make five times becauseEuropeans watched this tournament. I remember being
in Spain thirty years ago and peoplewere glued to it. And when Batistuzza

(53:29):
was playing still only in Argentina,he has a Copa America to die for,
like in ninety one, and thenends up at Fiorentina and playing in
Italy for big money. Yeah, these guys know it. They're like,
this is a chance to really geton the world stage and get a big
contract in Europe. Did you,by any chance see in the pregame yesterday

(53:50):
for the Champions League. They wentto Christian Polisic alive shot and he's in
Hershey, Pennsylvania at a kid's soccer. It was unbelievable and they treated him
total respect. He knew the jokes, he knew what he had seen Jamie

(54:15):
Carragher when Jamie was at the Wall, at the Yellow Wall and Dortmund.
So he was versed in all theinside stuff. And I mean, here
he's sitting there. This is theguy's a superstar now right, He's at
a kids game in Hershey, Pennsylvania. I thought it was phenomenal. You
want to see more of that, right, Yeah? Absolutely, a connection

(54:37):
you know, with the American soccerpublic with what really is transformational. Yeah,
US players playing in those big leaguesfor really big money. It changes
the whole perception of the sport inthe media in this country, and not
just being on the team but beingguys. Yeah, yeah, it's it's
phenomenal. So we got about whattwo minutes left, Ted, I'm not

(55:01):
very good at this. I gotone question, Well, go ahead.
So last night, uh wrote Romenberkeyagain saved our book innumerably numerable times.
He was particularly upset with the defendersin front of him. So give us
a peek underneath the tent. Whathappens after the game? Inside are there
conversations? And I was, well, I'm on the same page with him

(55:24):
because there was some ball watching thatwe paid dearly for. Uh, there
was. And I think he's especiallyin sense by guys coming in on him
one on one. Yeah, likewhat happened there? Nobody tried? He
said, they got it. They'renot tracking the runners. Well, part
of that is that we pressed,we pressed, We pay play a high
line, and basically you're gonna getburned every once in a while, especially

(55:45):
against quality players. Yeah, knowhow to put a ball right over the
top and and the timing of therun had which has happened in the big
teams that we have played. Thereare those moments where one of their superstars
makes this unbelievable pass to the othersuperstar who knows how to time his run

(56:05):
so that he's like a whisker ofbeing on and not offside enough to fool
the ar and have it right.I have to go, oh, I
can't imagine that happens to the vA R. But so yeah, I
mean he's asking for perfection. Buthe can because the way he performs,
he can ask for it and demandit. It's just a lot to ask

(56:27):
when you're talking about our style ofplay quickly quickly. Uh, did I
see or did you see maybe amessy mouthing the guys on our team at
the end of the game when thegame was over. Yeah, I was
not paying a lot of attention, respectful Thorison was trying to stand in line

(56:51):
and get mess I don't think so. Hello, I'm going to give it
to this guy. That was verycool. Yeah, you are not getting
my jersey. Well, that's goingto wrap it up. Everybody. We
