a Saint Louis law firm with localroots and nationwide results. I am
Ed Moondo, your announcer, ofcourse, and the course of the ship

(01:26):
but nothing we can't handle. Joiningthe studio day by Jim Leeker and Jordan
Williams. Ted's running the board.Santiago Beltrom will be calling in. Tom
Timmerman is going to call in alongwith Matt Baker. Anti can't be here,
Ted says, now, Tom Timmerman, that's the end of the world

(01:46):
as we know it. Well,Tom, Tim too good for us today?
Anyway, we are What else wasI gonna say? I don't know.
We got a full show and herewe go off and run. I
got pioneers thing, Papa was arolling stone. Got somebody on the line.
We have up. Looks like Bill, he's on the line. It's

(02:10):
collar there. No, I'm nota caller or a first time caller.
Longtime listener, longtime listener. Goahead, well, go ahead call her.
COVID strikes again. That's what wehear. Sally uh had a meeting

(02:30):
in Toronto this weekend and came backwith COVID. So I'm isolating. So
Jordan's there, Jordan is there.Good morning, happy father today, Thank
you, sir, and the fatherof them all, Jim Leeker, good,
good morning and happy father, Grandpa. Thanks grandpa. Yeah, you

(02:53):
up to your Now have you brokenthirty yet? No? No, no,
no, we're still look twenty. We're still look twenty. And the
twentieth one is a hoot. Oh, I can imagine. I'm only at
four. But you know they keepgetting better. Yeah, Hey, this
is weird because we didn't really missuntil we got shut down by COVID.

(03:17):
We didn't miss any shows, Idon't think. But here I am calling
you from Lovely Glenday. I'm actuallyabout three minutes from the studio. But
keeping you guys safe, Well,if you go outside and put up your
city flag, we can see itfrom here. If I go outside,
that's a sign I'm truly crazy.I was just outside for a moment and

(03:40):
it is warm. What's going tohit one hundred today? Possibility? That's
certainly in the high nineties. Andyou know, once you get to up
there, one degree one one orthe other doesn't seem to make it well.
During COVID that we actually were onon your patio. Oh yeah,
yeah, oh yeah, yeah, those are the days. Jim. Hey,

(04:04):
Jim, you know you were theperfect guest today because you were actually
a scorer when you played soccer, right, well, I was supposed to
be, you know, I wouldyeah, I would love to score more.
I didn't score, didn't score awhole lot in North America Soccer League,
but it was enough to you know, make me happy and you know,

(04:29):
play three years and then get areal job well as a as a
scorer. Yeah. I hate tobring up a touchy subject, but what
is going on at City Park?Or not. And what's going on with
city right now? They cannot findthe net? How many opportunities they have

(04:51):
last night, I have no idea. You know, these guys are they
should be scoring, and it's justa ma of you know, I think
once they start scoring, is goingto start right No, you know,
like like you know, going downthe hill. I mean, they're they're
just gonna keep on score and scoreand scoring. But can you think of

(05:14):
can you think of similar experiences inyour in your career where the ball like
I always think about it from basketballand I never played basketball at at beyond
high school, right, but inplaying as an adult, I understood things.
And one of the things I understoodthere were certain nights the ball was

(05:36):
not going to go in the basketfor me. It just but man,
this is like all season they haven'tbeen Klaus looks lost. Yeah, he
he made a pass last night thataccording to the rules of the game,
somebody should have been, you know, following that ball in and nobody.

(05:58):
He crossed it right right about rightabout the seventieth minute. Yeah, he
put it, put it right onthe cutting it back right to the penalty
spot basically or to the top ofthe box and nobody was there and he
just kind of looked up. AndI would tell by players, I said,
as long as you do your job, somebody's got to do their job,
right, you know. And nobodywas there, and the looks on

(06:23):
their faces, Yeah, they're notthere. They don't have the jovial faces
that they normally had last year.Yeah, right, you know, it's
like, oh, gee, scary. Well, what I'm wondering is,
you know, everybody looked at thethe the changes they made in the off

(06:44):
season. Oh, we're an improvedteam, right, But like the one
guy, you know, Ted andI talk a lot about, is uh,
scary Jerry. There's no scary Jerryon the field anymore. And that's
like that seems to you wouldn't thinkthat Jared Stroud would have made the big
difference. But what else is differentthis year? I can't put my finger

(07:12):
on it. I honestly they havesome new faces. Yeah. Well,
that that that the Pasture talking aboutwas it was just so obvious when you
say nobody was there, You meannobody was there even from their side.
From the goalie was there, buthe was back a couple of steps as
he needed to be. I meanthat was Germany. Germany scored on the

(07:36):
same play yesterday. You know, the guy cut the ball back just a
little to the top of the boxand here came close and you just rammed
it in. Yeah. That thatI think sort of epitomized to me what's
happening with his love right now?And I'm sure that. I mean,

(07:56):
we're all in agreement. The questionis, but you, Jim, what
what do you do? You justkeep playing as far as you can,
you know, try and get yourhead up, go down to the next
game. You can, you can. I told kids the other day,
you learn, You learn by yourlosses. You know, what right?
What what what wrong? And howcould we learn from it? You know,

(08:20):
there was you know, one ofmy grandkids played three games and they
lost two to one, two toone, and three to two, and
every one of them was the nailbier, you know, and you know,
you just have to learn from yourlosses and go on. Yeah,
you know, Okay, I'm looking. I'm looking at the log and when
I made it up, I hadJordan's this time for Jordan's segment. Sorry,

(08:43):
Jordan'll be a little later. Ilike to listen. I like to
listen. Well, I think we'sswitch because is Matt Collin today we know
well as far as we know, unless well, I would think I think
that Matt will say that statistically, with the stats he drags, we're better

(09:09):
that. Yeah are our goals scoringchances are good and another glean. Oh
something have to give and I thinkwe all would rather have them saying well
September than what happened last year one. But I'll tell you it. Did

(09:35):
you did anybody watch the Croatia Spaingame? I watched pieces of it.
Well, Croatia had so many chances. I mean in the first half,
four or five chances, and theball would not you know, something at
the last minute, a defender stuckout his foot or the guy just mishit

(10:00):
it. You know, the ballwouldn't go in from They finally got a
goal, and I think it wasan own goal. Maybe that's what's see.
I was thinking about this during thegame last night. Remember how last
year everybody was not everybody. Alot of people are complaining, well,
all their goals are coming on setpieces. That's just they need to get
more goals. Screw that, let'sjust get a goal. Yeah, yes,

(10:26):
I think that the the neatest playedlast night was an extra time when
Burkeie got the ball and he cameall the way on the other side of
half field and he hit a shotthat was just unbelievable. It's just like
holy cow. And you know that'swhy you know, once again, you
know the game has changed somewhat tothe better. But you know, they

(10:52):
tried to walk the ball in everytime. You know, they get in
the corner and it's the same triangleand somebody tries to make make a run
and get behind the last defender andthen try and score from a crazy angle,
you know, as opposed to beingready to shoot the dark well.
That's We've mentioned that, and othershave been on the show, have mentioned

(11:13):
that off and on for several weeksto months now, and that that play
was effective last year. But something'sdifferent and most you know, can only
go to that well so many timesbefore it runs. But everybody, everybody
goes to the well. I mean, it's the same play. If you
look at the Premier League, ifyou look at the Euros, they get

(11:37):
into that. Yes, sir, hold on, Jim hold on, did
you see Italy play yesterday? No, I haven't watched that I was at
a softball game and the live man, well, my life over the past
few days, and I'm thinking overthe next few days is going to be

(11:58):
sitting right here where I am rightnow watching the Euros. But Italy,
you know, by the way,Kat, this is our four euros.
Think about that four euros. Thisis mind boggling. Anyway. So Italy
yesterday did, at two different timeson their corner they put two guys near

(12:22):
the ball. The guy who tookit just did a short touch pass to
the other guy who carried it tohis left. It drew the defense out
and on both plate when one goalon one play, they scored on the
other. They got a really goodopportunity and city to be I mean,
no offense to Indy, but whywas Indy taking corners last night at all?

(12:46):
Why doesn't Luvin any opportunity for himto touch the ball. Why isn't
he hitting Jim Laker? No,I agree, you know, I agree.
You know they talk about Lewin thetarget person for taking all the kicks,
all the free kicks, and theyjust they're there, but the players

(13:07):
aren't there, you know. Soit's it's a fine line, Tom,
it really is, you know,it. It's just like bowling, you
know, if you're just offul,if you're just offul a smidge, you
know, Johnny Kleine, Johnny Klein, if he was an inch taller,
he could have had a goal lastnight. And I think that, I

(13:28):
think that, well, you know, yeah, yeah, I mean,
he's the heck of a player.I'm so glad that he got a chance
to come up, But you know, he I think he only touched the
ball a couple of times, youknow. Yeah, I don't understand waiting
till so late to bring subs on, Like, how are we ever going
to know anything about Big Sam ifhe only gets ten minutes a game?

(13:52):
Yeah? I agree. Usually theymake usually the team's fake changes that had
run a sixty minute more. Yeah, you know, they give give at
least thirty minutes to feel their oatsand get get going. And you know,
who knows it It might be anegative reaction on the player's part that

(14:13):
I'm coming in with ten minutes togold. It's hut to nothing, and
you know what am I supposed todo? Yeah? What am I supposed
to do? You know? Yeah, well you can you can see that.
I mean, particularly if it wasa one. It happens sometimes,
but if that's the only way youseem to come in, you know,
and that's we've either been I guessthe game before we were ahead but late

(14:37):
in the game and then they cameback and tied. But yeah, uh
yeah, it's well, I'm gonnaI'm gonna interject you because we some of
us got a text from Tom Timmermanyesterday because I was told that, well,

(14:58):
I don't know, did anybody elsehere the shout out that lut Scott
during the game yesterday in the Euros? Yeah, in the Euros. I
think I thought I had heard hisname. Yeah, well what what?
I texted an individual at City andsaid, Hey, did you hear the
did you hear the shout out lutScott? And the individual texted me back

(15:24):
and said, was by any chanceDerek Ray commentating? And I thought,
in fact he was. I passedthat on to mister Timmerman, and mister
Timmerman said Lutz told him that hewas going to the Euros, but he
wasn't going to go fishing in thatpond, meaning he wasn't there to sign

(15:46):
players that were playing in the Euros. We can't afford that you know that
that fishing pass, whatever that wouldcost to get any of those players,
because that's what we need, right, I mean him. Can you don't
you think that if they got aguy who was in a hot streak,

(16:07):
just a kind of a natural bornpoacher scorer kind of guy of that was
of equal level skill wise as Lovin, they would start scoring. Well,
I think they already signed him. They're just waiting for I forgot about that

(16:29):
guy going on with him. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know
about July July. We're almost We'realmost in July, I know, because
I'm still waiting for the guy toscreen in our porch that was going to
do it in March. Tell everybody, well we we uh, we forgot

(16:52):
a slight oversight on my part.I didn't realize that he was going to
be doing this telaphonically. That ofcourse, as your host, Tom Schwarz,
who can't be in studio today,as he's already described, you're remote
host. You're remote host. Youare listening to st O United Soccer Sunday
coming to you live from k fN S five ninety the Fan with Jordan

(17:14):
Williams. Jim Leeker ted me edMundo and Tom Schwartz out in the weeds
somewhere. How do you do Daddycould squarehead? I remember this song,
man, but it's a back kindof back in the day, I guess.

(17:37):
Was this Trump's night? Oh that'sright. You know my dad never
did your dad ever? Did anyof you guys? Did your dad swear?
Rarely? In my presence? Butit was the fourth before, so

(18:00):
by that time you know this perspective. I told the story before. My
mother worked at my elementary school anda young younger student came up to her
and said, this is Williams.Your son. Ded really does cuss.

(18:22):
I'm sure she did, so Iwas. I was greedy with that,
right I did. I didn't knowhow to cuss. Boy, I knew
how I swear like a sailor. And uh, I know my dad never

(18:45):
did. And I think that's probablypart of it. I don't know,
Jordan's your dad swear? I thinka little bit it was primarily at himself
though. Yeah, but you Jim, Hey, let you guys go because
I'm going to call in later JerryTimmerman's segment. So I'm gonna let you

(19:07):
guys go for now. Okay,Tommy, all right, thank you,
Okay, our best to Sally.Hope she gets gets better. Amen,
Thanks guys. Thanks Tommy. Allright, Tommy, So we've never heard
you talk about your dad, Jim. Well, he passed away very young.
Yeah, he was I want tosay, he was like fifty one.

(19:30):
And he was his task basker, you know, you know, he
was the carpenter by trade, andhe liked his beer and he didn't cuss
a whole lot. I watched youngkids playing now and they cussed board on
the field than my dad did,you know, And and they used the
four letter words. Have been goinggee wiz. Yeah. You know where

(19:53):
do they learn this? You know, well, their exposure is uh higher.
Yeah, and you know you askthem what does that even mean?
They don't even know they're just usingexpletive that it's it's truly emulation. Yeah,

(20:14):
yeah, yeah, they see theysee professionals using it, and you
know, not necessarily not even insoccer. You know, it could be
baseball. You know. Well thatone of the things too, I think
that adds to that is with thehigh def TVs that we pick it,
I mean, yeah, you couldreuse it and anybody who can read the
lips. Yeah, and over acertain age, it's just sort of you

(20:37):
figure it out and you look aton the field and there's a call that
goes against somebody and you can justsee, well whips. Well there's always
uh, there's always a live feedthat's available somewhere, right, And you
know what I you know, Ihave a father of three. At some
point you pick your battle, youknow, And and my kids becus they're

(21:03):
adults. They don't they don't doit in public among the family. I'm
do they do do it in frontof myself my life. Yeah, So
to me, it's it's about beingpolite and knowing your surroundings. Yeah.
So, Jim, you alluded toyour playing days, and so I always

(21:27):
I somehow or another, I guessI quick like or maybe I said follow
to the an a cell Facebook theyannounced birthdays of former players or just photos

(21:48):
and I never went to a Starsgame, but I knew about him as
a kid. And it's truly theearly early days of what we are doing
now. Oh yeahs talk to meabout you said you played for three years,

(22:10):
you are still in touch with guysthat you played with. It still
among us, Right, I hada dream last night, and in the
dream was Big Pride and and Altros, Chris Kleine who was just re inducted,
all these and they're all on aon a plane and they're all in
green jackets. I've going, oh, this is so deep. Well,

(22:33):
you had occasion to be in Friscofor the fiftieth, right, Yeah.
Yeah, I actually had a chanceto play on the field that the city
was playing going last year. Itlooks magnificent, but unless they changed it,
it's it's a bear. I meanit's really short grass, hard hard

(22:56):
surface jacks. Yeah, and youknow it was kind of like the like
a nap a nappy grasses I've heardClint Depsty talk about like that, right
yeah. And you know you youplay, you play the way you're supposed

(23:17):
to play on any field. Yougive it, you give it one hundred
percent. As a matter of fact, I said just to one of the
coaches at uh Uh that was atthe regionals out at SLICEA, and I
said, you know, Skat Gallagher'steams aren't very fearing very well. And

(23:38):
I'm just wondering, is they practiceon artificial turf? When you get out
the slice it's manicured grass and someof it's a little bit taller than the
other. But it's grass, andyou pass the ball differently on grass than
you do on artificial turf, andyou have to you have to be ready

(24:00):
for that. And there was acouple of times during the games that my
grass, so it was isn't ityet? It would have been a perfect
pass on on on grass, butthey gave it as if it was on
AstroTurf and they kind of hit itpretty good, yeah, and before you
know it was out of bounce. But you know, those are the learning

(24:23):
experiences you can't expect, you know, kids who are sixteen seventeen years old
to catch on like that. Youknow, that's what the coaching comes in.
You know, you have to getabout on the field or two or
three weeks before regionals on a grassfield, so they know what they know
what to expect if they wear thesame footwear. Usually I would wear the

(24:49):
same footwear, yeah, whether ornot it was on AstroTurf or you know,
we colored astrosurf on artificial turf oron are on grass. There was
days that Adidas had interchangeable spikes thatyou could you know, change the studs

(25:10):
based on you know, whether ornot the field is buddy or if it's
you know, firm. You know, so it was a gimmick. You
know, as long as you havea good pair of shoes. I think
that's the bean thing. Did youdid you say you did you prefer grass?
Did you have a press? Oh? Yes, oh, definitely definitely

(25:32):
grass. Yeah. I play withDaniel in a Sunday league and we play
at Slu High School and it's turfand it's it's okay, but if you
slide and it'll it'll burn you up. Yeah. Carpet, yeah, yeah,
yeah, there's yeah. And onceagain there's different types of turf that
that will really burn you. That'swhy a lot of kids out, a

(25:52):
lot of youths, they'll they'll weresliding pants underneath their underneath their shirts because
they know they'rey're going to slide.Oh yeah yeah. Oh when you played
at Francis Field back back with theStars, was that grass or grass?
Yeah? Yeah, it was grass? Well, how was it? Oh
it was beautiful, Yeah, itwas actually beautiful. And then we moved

(26:14):
on to the uh Push Stadium forfor two years that I played for two
years. I think they may haveplayed the third year before they moved back
out to warshow Uh but yeah, that that was probably one of the best
fields in Saint Louis. You know. Uh. Molalley Fields out on King
Highway was a nice field, niceand big, unbelievably big. I you

(26:41):
know, I have a I'm aWest West County kid. My first exposure
to Molally was with my third andfourth graders playing on that field. And
to hear you and mc dermott talkabout you playing European clubs. Yeah,
on that field Jordan's we've played andwhen I'm eposed to it, it's it's

(27:04):
still in deeds in shape, buttheir little kids are playing on it.
And now I think either I thinkRuth Harker or may have six did you
now the field is a piece ofproperty that is abandoned and there are trees
growing in the middle of a fieldwhere we've played Coventry City. Yes,

(27:27):
unbelievable matches were played there and it'sa Yeah. It's right across the street
from Saint Mary Magdalen Parish. Yeah, King's close to Kings Highway and Shippwall.
Yeah sixty six. Yeah. Atone time that was one of the

(27:48):
better, better fields than Saint Louisalong with Heide Binney, which was which
was actually a baseball field, soit was it was a field way out
there and overlap, you know, just just a tad, just a tad,
you know, not a whole lot, but you know it was it
was probably one of the best fields. And then you look at that film

(28:11):
that you know, that was beingdisplayed at the Missouri Historical Society where there
were championship games that you have playedon there, and it's bud Yeah.
I mean, you know, becauseyou know, once once the you know,
rains came, you know, itwasn't it wasn't established enough that it

(28:33):
would recover from week to week. You know, so yeah, you can,
you can, you can truly, but you know, there's a way
in the mud. I mean, yeah, yeah, man, hearing about
that history, that's something I'd loveto see. I know City s has
kind of taken over downtown and they'vealready done a lot, but like somehow

(28:55):
to keep that field still, youknow, with yeah, I think it's
you know, at one time wherethat where that field was, there was
a basketball court from Mary Magdalen. There was a bowl of yelly underneath and
you know, a large lock thedances right, the dance is yeah,

(29:17):
yeah, was there on Sunday night, you know so, Bob dub and
there probably more than one occasion.Yeah. Listen, we're gonna take a
break and come back after these fewannouncements with more from Jim Leek, Jim
Leeker, Jordan Williams is coming upafter the break. This is STL United
Soccer. Ye oh, we haveSanty on the line. Oh no,

(29:41):
he'll call it. Yeah, Okay, well we'll be right back. Don't
go anywhere. You're listening to St. L. United Soccer Sunday coming to
you live from k f N Sfive ninety the Fan in Saint Louis,
Missouri. To nestled in Chesterfield liesa hidden gym, Espinos, Mexican bar

(30:14):
and grill located Welcome, Welcome back, everybody. Steel United Soccer Sunday coming

(30:37):
to you from the Harry Kio Studioshere at k f N S five nine
of the Fan. We are back. We're gonna have some more from Jim
Leeker George Williams. But right nowwe have our roving correspondent on the line,
Santiago Beltron. Santi Are you there, I'm here, Buenos Dia,

(30:59):
Lah, you've just exhausted all theSpanish. Maybe Jordan has more of the
sleeve, Santi, no good iswhat's going on? It's been a it's
been rough the last couple of games. After calling three at Miami, then

(31:25):
scoreless draw last week at City Park, and then yesterday, a lot of
chances created and and it looked likeKlaus was finally going to Reennite with the
gold, but he found a wallon marking Pas Santi. There's still a
lot of time to have the worstgame of the season, but so far,
was this the worst game for Cityconsidering the injuries to some of the

(31:48):
players and all of those mischances andlosing to a team that's below you in
the standings. Yeah, everything thathas gone wrong last night went wrong.
Obviously a slio with with the injury. He has been so important for the
team this year. It's sad tosee him go down and he has played

(32:09):
his way into the starting lineup, and to me at a personal level,
it's one of the players I enjoyedseeing and been successful just because I I
have seen him since the beginning whenhe joined CD two and earned a starting
role and was important for the teamin the playoffs and then he earns a

(32:30):
first in contract. Last year hehad some place where he he played well,
and then this year is like adifferent different player. He has scored
goals, he assists, and heearns a contract, a new contract,
and then it's just sad to seehim go down with an injury. It

(32:51):
hasn't been determined what the stend ofthe injury is, but then look good
and I have a feeling he willbe out for the rest of the season.
And not only that, but thenJackie Nilson gets injured in the same
play as Tim Parker gets a yellowcar which means now he's going to be
out for Wednesday. So your twocenter backs will most likely not sure what

(33:14):
the stand of Nielsen is, butI have a feeling he will at least
he will be held out of thisgame on Wednesday, So you're out of
your two standing center backs. TyleHiber is out with the national team,
so now you're going to have tothink about You have Jose Jarrow, but
other than that on the roster forthe first team, there isn't another center

(33:37):
back, so you probably have tocall Michael Benzel from City two, or
maybe use Jane or Wizky as acenter back. But yeah, he wasn't.
He wasn't the best. Basically,as you guys called it, worst
game of the season in terms ofall the things that happened. And Dallas
scored two goals basically on the twothree chances they got, and it keeps

(34:01):
being a game of two three momentsago against City and and the opposing team
takes advantage of that, and uh, it's just it's just getting old.
And hopefully with two games at CityPark, the team can can go back
to the winning ways and uh,stop the separation of the table. Yeah,

(34:22):
I agree wholeheartedly. You know, the the the two two goals that
were scored, and then not thatto receive a penalty kick on on the
one shot, right, you knowthat they had the replay of it and
it definitely went off his arm andI couldn't figure out why there wasn't a
call of a stoppage to review thatparticular play, you know, And yeah,

(34:50):
that could that could have been aturning side. Also, it's all
the breaks that City received last year, you know, you know, class
scoring goals when balls being passed backto the goalie and then the inter stuff
in them they're you know, allthose breaks that they had last year,
even even someone black balls, youknow, they just don't get them this

(35:12):
year, you know. But yeahthey have to work through it. Yeah,
yeah, they have to work throughit. Well, Bradley talk about
they dispossessed see Dallas a lot,SUNTI, but then their next touch was
flawed. It was really you know, it was all around. You know,

(35:35):
they they played their game, theygenerated optunities, but so bad that
Roman Burge was compelled to take ashot. Yeah, I know, I
know that that was crazy to seeRoman Berkes trying to they cut shots himself,
But I don't know, like Ithink it was also like a mess

(35:58):
that's for for his teammates. Hewas really frustrated what was going on.
So I think to me it wasa message. Okay, yeah, I
liked it. What's that message, don't you? Uh well, I think
he was frustrated and just seeing howthe game was developing Dallas with that low

(36:22):
blog to me more like a messageto his teammates don't try to go.
They went into a box, justtake your chances and and tried to get
a shot from outside the box ifyou have to. I think that's what
was going through his mind and hewas just frustrated with being down two goals
when when City had the ball somuch and had some clear chances. Again,

(36:45):
Dallas goalkeeper had a great game.I don't think this is one where
you could say, oh, Citylike was right there in the final pay
a lot but couldn't get into ascoring positions. Yesterday was just Dallas goalkeeper
in a great game and saying Dallaslike four or five times clear chances.

(37:05):
How did you feel about City's urgencylast night? Did you feel that they
were playing with that edge, like, hey, we've got to score and
we've got to get a result.Yeah. I think they were like at
the beginning of the game, likethe first fifteen minutes before Celu's injury,

(37:30):
the team did good things with theball. I created a couple of chances.
Dallas, as suspected, wasn't doingmuch because they sit in the low
blog and then they want to createwith transitions. But then you go into
that like second third of the firsthalf where you have that Celluo injury,

(37:52):
and then mentally when when the gameresumes, like you could tell it wasn't
the same team. You have thatinjury in your mind a teammate that everybody
appreciates so much going down and mentallyhard to recover from that. And then
after Dallas a sport like the lastten to fifteen minutes of the half,

(38:14):
city created chances and picked it upon the second half again for fifteen minutes.
But when you create so much andyou are not able to score,
then it comes back and Dallas ona set piece opportunity scores and puts the
game awe. But I think theurgency was there to answer your question,

(38:37):
just another one of those games whereyou get all the bad breaks and you
find you find yourself against a greatgoalkeeper. So Saty, before we step
away, thanks for your segment.Have you seen anything this morning on an
update on Celo? I haven't seenanything yet. I'm sure there will be

(38:58):
an update later to or maybe tomorrowduring the press conference before the game against
Colorado. And that's Santiago Beltron.Let me remind you you're listening to Thanks.
Thanks santi we we're kind of flyingthis, playing on a wing in
a prayer today. Santia's you couldprobably tell and probably our listeners can't do.

(39:19):
So we've got a remote producer. We're gonna come back with Jordan just
in a second. This is kf N S five ninety The Fan and
STL United Sunday Show, sock WiseJump Alligator. I love that line.

(39:44):
Jump back Jack, ce Lada Alligator. That is worth the best lines of
that gear. You know, hita Jim, jump back jack, see
Laida Alligator. Ah Man, theone and only, the late James Brown.

(40:05):
Not a pleasant man, but agreat artist. Trouve a lot ours.
All Right, we're back. We'regonna Tom is out. Some of
you have heard he is at hometaking care of the Czarina who is under
the weather. Ed Mundo here,Ted here, Jordan Williams here, Jim
Leaker? Are we ted? Arewe a consensus? We're going to Jordan.
We all right, Jordan, he'sbeen on deck there, yes,

(40:29):
doing yeoman's work. So I haveI have some good news for City fans.
We're gonna go through some scores. So there was some good news outside
of the city sc match. Tryto you know, try to stay positive.
So through the MLS, we'll gothrough some scores. Red Bulls nil,
Nashville nil, New England three,Vancouver two, Montreal Real Salt Lakes
scoreless draw, Atlanta and Houston drawat two two, Chicago four, Toronto

(40:52):
one, Charlotte one, DC Unitednil, Miami two, Philadelphia one,
l a FC three, Orlando one. Here's one good news for city,
Colorado one. So Austin lost.Austin is kind of battling CDC on the
standings. It was two nil toColorado, Seattle two, Minnesota nil,
Sincy four, San Jose two.And then more good news for City again

(41:14):
KC. I'm not really sure. They're kind of at the bottom, but
they lost to the Galaxy last nightfour to two. So a little bit
of good news KC lost. Austinlost in the standings for citysc obviously,
it was a tough game last night. And then just for some EuroSCORE scores
as well, Germany opened up theEUROS big game against Scotland five to one.
Switzerland won as well, three toone over Hungary, Spain and Croatia.

(41:36):
Tom was talking about that earlier amazinggame. The score line doesn't really
reflect that, but Spain three,Croatia nil, Italy two Albania one.
We also had the fastest goal inEuro's history, twenty three seconds Albania scored
into that game. Poland in theNetherlands is happening right now. It's two
to one. The Netherlands, Sloveniaand Denmark play at eleven, and England
and Serbia play at two. Somegames to watch later this week in the

(41:59):
Euros Spain and Italy play against eachother Thursday at two, and then Netherlands
and France play each other at FridayFriday at two as well. Of course,
there's a bunch of games going on. Those are just a couple of
interesting ones. I thought you shouldtune into. What what do you Who
do you like in the euro Cup. I think it's easy to say France.

(42:20):
I think it's easy to say France. I'd love England to win.
I like seeing a team win thathasn't won. I would say the favorites
probably have to be France. Germanyhasn't won anything in a while, so
it'd be fun to see them.I don't think Netherlands have won anything in
my lifetime, so fun to seethem win something. But England, you
know, the same could be saidfor England. I was I was rooting
for them last time when they wereplaying against Italy, and that was kind

(42:42):
of rough seeing them lose on apenalty. Shootout. But I think it's
a pretty open field like frances I, you know, looking at their starting
eleven, I don't think it's asstrong as it was at the World Cup.
But I think they're still a favorite. I just don't think it's as
far away as it was looking atthe you know, the quick aside I
watched yesterday and in fact they've concluded. About forty five minutes ago was the

(43:06):
twenty four hours of Lamal and ZADONSAdame was the guy at the at was
on the track and it said andyou know, the equivalent of start your
engines here. The crowd, thecrowd was nuts. I mean it was
a full house and twenty four hoursof driving. Well they go Jordans,
give it a scores, but orsoccer fans, this is truly the summer

(43:30):
of soccer. Yeah, I meanso much soccer. Somebody alluded to it
last week that it will be aperiod of time summer where you can't literally
watch soccer all day long. Yeah, all day long. Yeah. My
nephew is bringing his family to CanadaCity for the USA match on July first

(43:54):
at Arrowhead and they're pumped up aboutit. He's got he's got two boys
that love soccer and they're not they'renot. It's not going to be a
cheap drip for them, but they'regonna take in the whole experience. Do
you have your domestic leagues MLS andWSL, then you have all the international

(44:15):
competitions Copa America, Euros, theOlympics, the Olympics going as well,
and the next year as well, next summer we have the in America,
we have the Club World Cup.Should be fun as well. Yeah.
Do you think that with all ofthe young talent we hear about all these
young phenoms around the world, doyou think the Olympics will ever on the

(44:39):
men men's side, will ever haveany lost like like it because the women's
tournament is always really exciting, buton the men's side it doesn't really get
that much tension. Now. Iknow there's tons of events, but I
would hope that with some of theseyoung naps, like the next Messi,

(45:02):
the next Ronaldo, maybe that enoughof those are involved that maybe that event
at the Olympics would be a littlebit more high focus. The professionally,
the women are allowed to play andthen the men's it's under twenty three,
so that's probably one of the reasonsthey do get to bring three three big
players. I think the clubs haveto start respecting the Olympics more so.

(45:23):
Like the next star kid coming outof Brazil is Endric who's seventeen years old
and is playing, is going toReal Madrid. And then Lamina Mal,
sixteen year old, started for Spain. So it's like they're kind of already,
you know, maybe at that nextlevel where even though they're sixteen and
seventeen, their clubs may not lethim go to the Olympics, or as

(45:45):
in Emena Mal's case, he's alreadyplaying for Spain in the Euros. So
but I know that there's been someheadlines about some players potentially playing, like
Killian and Boppi. I think hewants to play. The Olympics are in
Paris, but Real Madrid's just notgonna let him play. Man. You
know, there's just so much, you know, soccer going on, there's
so many games. They don't wantto overload him. And I think once

(46:07):
once the Olympics opened it up toprofessional players, no matter what, you
know what, it's supported being business. Uh, he kind of took off
the edge of the most popular Olympicathlete, you know, so you know,
it's it's just one of those thingswhere the Olympics was the best and

(46:30):
now it's so much soccer, somuch soccer going on. It's the World
Cup, it's you know, ah, even the regular league, the Premier
leagues and so on. Hey,we've got Aller from glen Dale. You're
on the line, Coller, what'syour comment? Ball? Isn't he?

(46:51):
Isn't he good? When I firstheard of started hearing that during the Champions
League, I heard him talking aboutLaninia mal and I'm thinking the bad child,
Holy cow, this guy you know, he's sixty. Well his name
is YA mean Lamal, not Laninamal Uh and he I mean tom there's

(47:13):
a bathroom on the right where Idon't see it. Spain is so is
so young, They've got so manyyoung, good players. I don't know.
I'm just wondering if if is ittoo early? You know? I
heard Jordan saying about France and they'remy first pick for everything right now because

(47:37):
they're so loaded, right they're loaded, but gosh darted. On any given
days, somebody could have a badgame and somebody could have a good Yeah.
When you get when you get outstage. It's anybody's game. I
mean, who would have thought Moroccoit would be in the semis right,
who would have done Morocco on thewomen's we get out of group? I

(48:00):
mean, come on, and howexciting was that? To Jim's point from
Rber, how exciting is that youhave a vest like that. I mean,
then you get all this Cinderella rootingright right, just like people love
that, just like the basketball story. The element I like about the Euros

(48:23):
is that all these nations have ancienthatreds right for each other. At some
point, at some point in theirhistory war, somebody owned somebody else,
right, and uh like Ted wasjust saying about Morocco. How many French
people who live in France? Youknow, we're played for Morocco. That's

(48:45):
how strong France is. But becauseof their imperial history, I don't know
time for history lesson Jordan, Whatdo you think I mean Southern France.
I was there. It's like eightypercent Moroccans and a lot of the flight
to go to Morocco. So yeah, well, I remember you interjecting that

(49:05):
I had no idea. It's likeyou know what your your knowledge of history?
It relates to these petitions, it'slike, okay, I never thought
about that part. Well, ifyou go back far enough too, that
the Spain had control of the Netherlandsfor a long time, but it was
the House, the House of Orangefinally threw that off. So I don't

(49:28):
think that's ever been completely forgiven. There could be a lot of chocolate going
back and forth between those two countries, but it's still not enough in Europe,
and nothing is ever forgiven. It'sjust a matter of time, like
a bad marriage. Yeah, well, but I mean again to me,
like, I don't know if youany of you saw Luka Modrich's face when

(49:52):
he was singing the Croatian national anthem. I mean it was I mean talk
about emotion the Poland, the Polandteam singing today, you know, those
those people got other stuff on theirmind. What do you think it's going
to be like when Ukraine plays? You know, last the last Euros the

(50:12):
final were in Kiev. Couldn't dothat this year. That's that's the reality
of this of this sport, ofthis world we live in. Hey,
guys, it's been great. It'sreally no no offense to anybody, but
it's been kind of cool. Sittinghere in my living room. You want

(50:34):
to work remotely, is that whatyou're saying? Coming up? Yeah,
this remote thing is really working outfor me. One day. This one
day a week is really a struggle, you know. Yeah, but this,
uh Poland Netherlands is quite again. We were my favorite tournament. We
were talking about the summer soccer.Oh you're getting you're gonna be uh glued

(51:00):
to your requiner. Yeah, well, I don't see any problem with that.
I gotta go down and ride thebike every morning. But other than
that, I'm a okay and nooffense to anyone. But I'm certainly hoping
what I don't I don't get whatmy wife's cat. We haven't. We

(51:20):
haven't talked about the us A resultagainst Brazil. You know, Balter uh
golf, his head were were loudafter that match. It's like, okay,
Jordan's they got the result, Theygets top club, right, yeah,

(51:43):
and they played Yeah they played well, go ahead, Tom, Well
let's let's let's see what happens whenthe real game start, because it it
you know. I mean again,I haven't I haven't the keed you made
the comment about so much soccer goingon. I'm mean next week, the
Copa starts for real, right, yeah, so there there will be games

(52:06):
almost all day and then into thenight. It's great on Thursday. On
Thursday it starts Argentina and Canada kickus off. Yeah, and wonder and
the world. The world knows theseplayers. They know them. Oh yeah,
because the club play the THEVA videogame and social media. Everybody knows

(52:31):
these stop players and where they're andwhat club they play on. It's you
know, any I'm Americans talk aboutWorld champions It's like, right, ah,
it's the world, right, Andyou know that first time, first

(52:53):
time I watched the Copa America,I was in Spain. We're at a
at an event in Spain, andeverybody was glued. I had no idea
what they were watching. Right,Well, what the hell's going on?
Oh Argentina is playing Brazil? Ohwhat's that mean? This was a while
ago? Sure, Scott, allright, Hey, keep up the good

(53:17):
work. I'm thoroughly enjoying this.Okay, are you calling it later?
If if I feel indeed, Iwill, Okay, I've got How about
it? How about an announcement?Oh right, yeah, you're yes.

(53:37):
The banquet for Saint Louis Soccer Hallof Fame Class of twenty twenty five will
be February, oh, twenty seven. It's the Thursday night. I should
have pulled it up first. Waita minute, this is this is where

(53:58):
ahead of time this announcement. Yes, because no conflicts. I gotta I
gotta fight. It's it's the lastThursday in February, and we we we
we Actually that's the twenty Seventh's thetwenty seventh. Yeah, I actually uh

(54:22):
lost a lot of my old ageat last year's bank. But that the
scheduling because we were waiting for forcity to come out with their schedule,
and I said, we can't dothis the second year of the role,
right, you know, because wewe were we were scheduled early part of

(54:42):
March and it ended up being mayyou know, we made the announcement of
who the players were going to beand then they had to wait another three
months. So I basically decided, let's go back to a Thursday, get
away from any conflicts on the weekend, and you know what happens. That
happens. You know, if wehave seven hundred, eight hundred and nine

(55:07):
hundred, and we'll probably add anotherof the major awards UH to this coming
banquet, So just be on thelookout. You know, we have our
first executive meeting the end of thismonth and then our first UH committee meeting
will be early part of July, and then we'll decide when the vote's going

(55:30):
to take place and take it fromthere. So is it about time for
Tom chairman to go into the soccerhall? Says? Not the cause of
it. Not the cause of thetrouble. You know me, I hate
causing trouble. I have enough.I have enough troubles in my in my

(55:52):
back pocket that I can I dealwith it as much as I can.
Well, I had I had tosay that because you know we have preciate
Timmerman and yeah, he can't calltoday, so I had to get the
shout in for him. Hey,all right, I hear the music.
I get it. I'll talk toyou guys later. Okay, Bobby,
thank you caller and a good callthere. Call a call back next time.

(56:15):
Make sure you have your radio turneddown in the background. You're you
are listening to Steo United Soccer Sunday. And that wraps up the first segment.
But don't go away. We'll beback with more from Jordan Williams.
Matt Baker's coming up, tai KeyO Ted's going to have an update on
the WOSO. This is Edmundo call. We're gonna step away and we'll be

(56:36):
