Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome back to Stolen Depaty with your rose has always
it's me kipping across the way. I got CB. What
you up two, cb.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Oh Man, get getting a little breather in.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Had the fam in town this past week, so we
all know how that goes. I mean, I love them dearly.
I love them dearly, but anytime you have to coordinate
and just make sure, you know, like want you want
your family to have phone when they come and visit.
Coming from small town Alabama, you know. So it's just

(00:32):
it's exhausting. But we had a hell of a hell
of a weekend and I think I showed them the
best of Demba.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Yeah. You always want to kind of be like, okay,
I got to put some of like in the words
of Dwight Truth. You know, your show beats on the
front of the aisle so that they're like, okay, I
see why you love it so much. You got to
put on for the city. What'd y'all eat? I know,
y'all went and ate some places. Papa Bear comes in town,
you got to show up.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Some goods, yeah, for sure, you know.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
I mean they got in town like early, So they
got in town on Wednesday, and so Wednesday and Thursday
we did some home cooked meals, which I fucking nailed,
so felt real good about that. And also, dude, it
kind of got like cool at nine times, so we
set out sat out back.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
It was kind of nice this past week. But then
I took them to Mead.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Street for lunch, and dude, I really like, don't talk
about that place enough. I mean, their daily sandwiches are
so good.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
I mean they're slicing them a mile high and they're
like fifteen bucks, so like the bang for buck and
how big they aren't the juice was worth the squeeze.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Oh I yeah, I mean I ate half a sandwich
and I was full, So that was great.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
They loved that.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
For lunch, game of tour of the museum, took them
up to the sky terrace to show them that view.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Fucking loved it.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Yeah, that was a finality, and like, you know, the
museum is cool, like they don't always get to see
something big like that, so that was really cool.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Did you ask your dad the dinosaur question?

Speaker 2 (02:04):
No, And it's not because I didn't want to hear
his answer. I just forgot.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
I did take him in there to the teen Rex
exhibit and they loved that. You know, they're just they're
just in all they're like these little kids found that.
It's like yeah, but anyways, getting into the food stuff.
Friday night, you know, it's nice to be able to
take him to a cocktail bar because my parents do

(02:33):
like to, you know, have a have a swip of booze.
So we went to yacht Club and paired that with
the Brasserie Combo. And I mean yacht Club was actually
slamming on Friday, so we weren't able to.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Like, well, of course it was it's a Friday night
and it's a top bar in the world.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
That is true.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
But you know, we got in there, we had a cocktail,
and then it was nice because our table was ready,
and so we just closed our had there and carried
our cocktails into Broserey, which that is the best thing
that's ever happened to those two establishments having the shared
liquor license, because I don't think it was like that
when it kind of first opened.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Yeah, I can't remember. I don't think it was. In fact,
I kind of feel like they were like, while you
wait on your table, go grab a cocktail at our neighbors.
But I don't remember you being able to kind of
cross the streams, so to speak. But it's a premo
play and at the same time, it's a great way
to finish off a big meal. It's like, let's get
one nightcap and then we can grab a car or
walk because it's a fun little neighborhood. But yeah, those

(03:35):
two really play off one another really well. And it's
kind of a homey vibe in the neighborhood, so it's
not like in the hustle bustle or whatever you may
see in the downtown area. It's kind of like a
fun little area over there in the Wootier cool.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Yeah, And I mean, dude, I gotta hand it to Broseriy.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Like the menu was great.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
We had we had one of their crudo dishes, but
the star of the show was just this airly tomato salad.
They had like this anchovy oil over it and so
it gave it that kind of like salty, briny bite.
But man, the tomatoes just because like I don't know,

(04:14):
they speak for themselves at this time of the year,
but that salad, the oil they had on it and
the way they had salted it and seasoned it was perfect.
And I think I think the next day, my family
was talking about it, like that tomato salad was their
favorite bite, so that that was really good. But I
had I had the duck dish and right now, you know,

(04:36):
they always do their duck dish like kind of Asian style,
and right now it's got a little bit of chili
crisp around it, and then it's got this turnip cake
and it was so goddamn good.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
That was probably my favorite bite of the weekend.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
So I would get to Brasserie and check out what
they got going on, and I forgot, like how good
and approachable their wine list is. They've got some really
fun wines on there.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
I mean, it's been a minute since I've been over there.
I'm gonna have to swing through and Yon Club. Anytime
you go in, it's always a good time. I remember
I took my parents there and they're like, it's loud,
we can't hear you. So but it's always fun to show,
like you're saying, you know, show off the city and
some of the best of it. So busy that you
could swing through Bears.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
I told my dad, I was like, yeah, they got
Glizzies over there, and he's like, the hell's a Glizzie.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
I was like, it's a hot dog, aud, it's a
hot dog guy.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
You could have gotten him with a hot dog. He
may have been like, I'll hit a late night hot dog.
But she went about it the totally wrong way I did.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
I don't I don't think he liked the term glizzy.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
He's but you called a show as well.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Yeah, we went to Taburnetta for dinner on Saturday, played
golf at Colorado National.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
And then yeah, beat your ass.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
I mean I wouldn't say he beat my ass, but
he did beat me. But h I played pretty well
and we enjoyed it.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
It was fun. It's a fucking hard course.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Yeah, I mean, it's not for the faint of heart,
but it's also a little bit more attainable in terms
of getting a fucking tea time, whereas Willi's case, it's
like pulling teeth. And the people that play out there
are usually better than you. So it's like, as long
as you don't feel bad about slowing folks down. You know,
it's a it's a nice paced game, so it's not
like you're gonna get hit by somebody else. You are
the people doing the hit. I mean, where'd you go

(06:27):
to eat.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Saturday, we went to have Yeah, which was which was
I mean, it was great, But I'm gonna give I'm
going to give the uh the overall this weekend to Brasseri.
But Tavernetta was great and I had UH. I mean,
obviously for dessert we have the tear in masu, but
we got this strawberry semi frido and it was fucking awesome.

(06:50):
But yeah, like everything at tab was great. But I
still think like this weekend, i'd uh. I think my
stomach was happier with Brasey.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
I mean that's not a bad one too, Like if
it's not a bad way to spend a weekend. I chilled.
I didn't eat too crazily, had a little pony app
sandwich before the baseball game. But you went on the
food scene and I mean, you're one two punch of
Tavernetta and Brixton. You're gonna be next one with the
gal Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
And then though yesterday we went out to Red Rocks,
which I mean, you know, like that's on anybody's bucket
list and my parents have been wanting to go, and
it just worked out that the Alabama Shakes were playing
this weekend and dude, we got up there early, and
you know how they block off that road to like
that top parking section. Yeah, you know, if you go

(07:42):
up there and just say something, they let you through.
And there's so many goddamn parking spots up there.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Up and Upper North, and then you don't have to
take as many stairs. It's wonderful. And then you can
dip out early and try to you know, get out
of the cave where it's like one fucking lane the time.
That's a great like full encompassing weekend of Denver, a
Red Rocks show, and you'll win every time.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Yeah, we went up there.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
We had like a little picnic because we got up
there early, had some wine and then headed in and dude,
the Alabama Shakes were awesome, Like I mean they you know,
I guess this is their first tour back together after
they're like Big Break or whatnot. But uh, Brittany Howard
brings it and it was sold out.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
It was packed, I believe it. It feels like every concert
is always like so goddamn slammed. It's like they're over sold,
but you're like, I gotta catch It's like in Sturgel,
I think we were in the top fucking road earlier
this year. It's like you get in where you can
fit in. But at the same time, it's like it
never not fucking slammed. But they didn't sound a bad weekend.
That's and you know, it's worth it ninety nine point

(08:45):
nine percent of.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
The time, right And I think, yeah, I mean, anytime
you can get your parents while they're out here, it's like,
if they're interested in live music, you know, get them
to go to Red Rocks. They just they couldn't believe
it once we like walked in. I mean they were
in awe, like see in the big Red Rocks, like
from outside, but once we got in there, they were
just like Jesus, this is awesome.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Yeah, it is.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
It's a better representation than going in during the day
and just like hiking or walking around and seeing a
bunch of people running up and down the stairs. The
concerts are a perfect representation.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Yeah. So, how was the Rockies game?

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Rockies one? We're two in one coming out of the
All Star break watch out, don't let us get hot.
I'll tell you right now. The best thing about the
Rockies the ticket prices are not cheap. The stadium's fairly
full on weekends, no matter if it's a themed night er,
a random ass fucking opponent. Sometimes it's just fifty to
fifty opposing teams. Like there's a fair amount of Twins

(09:40):
fans in there, and it's like Minnesota fans are here.
But for whatever reason, it may be cheaper than other places.
I'm not sure, but you can bring your own food in.
But we sent up, had a cocktail and a snack
over a pony, up walked in the game, had a Glizzie,
and then the Rockies won on Star Wars night, so
it wasn't too bad. But we're getting ready for a

(10:01):
big week ahead. We're going to pack up our vappins
from fat Grams, grab some edibles over at Nobo, and
we're headed up to Veil. So I think that's gonna
be the coolest thing to talk about today. And it
also posed my question, I need your power ranking top
three mountain towns because as we had to Veil and
I just came back from Breck where I was glazing

(10:22):
Radicado and rootstalk heavily, I wanted to get your vibe
on the Veil food scene, and then I want you
to power rank your favorite mountain towns, whether it's for
outdoor activities, the dining or collab of all of kind
of what the town has to offer. I want your
power three, and I'll give you my three and we'll
see what the community votes on.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Okay, you know, I mean like to be honest with you.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Just because I don't go up to Veil that much,
I don't know much about the dining scene, so I
really like, that's my bad. I just don't know much
about that dining scene.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
But I do know what is it.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
I bumped into Carlin and Adam this past weekend at
the farmers Market, and I guess the Sprits window at
Tavernetta up there went viral or something, and they're saying,
like a week and ago they had a two hundred.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Long line just to get a sprints from the window.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Yeah, they said, I don't know what happened, but some
video went viral of it and they said it was
gangbusters in there.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
That's wonderful, that's great news. And so I know a
little bit about the Veil scene, and it was almost
rhetorical just so I can poo poo on them because
I've done it time and time again. But Tavernetta obviously
the new addition up there, what is inside the Four
Seasons or something of that nature. But they have like
Mountain Standard as one and Sweet Basil that are actually
having by the same people they were. They've gotten some
accolades as well. But I think, you know, there's a

(11:49):
few spots there, but after going to Breca may be
spoiled on the mountain town scene, obviously, we don't get
a fair representation of Aspen when we go up there,
usually just because it's festival time or whatever. But at
the same time, it's like it makes you think about
like winter part tell you Ride. I guess Durango would
be kind of considered in that area. But at the
same for Silverton, Steamboat Springs, who has your favorite food

(12:14):
scene and which ones are your favorite ones to kind
of like pay her like a weekend away but also
enjoy the town.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
I mean, I think I gotta go with Steamboat like
as as number one, And that's probably because like that's
the like kind of like far away town that I've
been to the most, or a longer drive than just
going up the hill, you know.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
But I think in terms of the vibe, in terms
of just.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
Kind of like walking around and not feeling like there's
all these designer stores and shit like that. Like it
just feels like an actual town and not necessarily like
a ski resort. So I love Steamboat and the food
scene up there is pretty damn good. I mean, yeah,
what I'm blanking on the name.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
What's that? There's a really good Italian spot up there.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
And you go up there more than I do. Last
time I went up there, I went and saw chef
Russell Goodman who works on that farm and does dining
scenes like and teaches at the culinary school up there,
and that was a fun little experience. But you're exactly right.
It feels a little bit more friendly price but also
approachable in times in terms of like it enjoined the town,
Like you're not feeling like you're walking around with a

(13:27):
bunch of people with fur coats as much as it is, like,
you know, folks may be wearing car hert or something normal.
But that is a good scene. But I just maybe
wonder because, like Chris and Butte's a cool little town
and you know, but the food scene seems to always
be lacking in the ski towns, and it may be
because it's kind of like what you were saying with
the resort status, So picking Steamboat and your one spot

(13:49):
is pretty strong. Who would you have in your follow
up in terms of like maybe honorable mentions or places
you'll act that you'd actually go out of your way
to eat town wise.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
I mean, honestly, I think I think probably the Breckinridge
area has it pretty pinned down at the moment. I mean,
you can't like there's no other like there's no place
in Veil like I'm dying to go eat at, you know. Yeah,
and winter Parks the same, like they've got they've got

(14:23):
some decent bikes you can get, but there's nothing that's like,
oh man, I can't wait to try.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
This is the only the only mountain.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
Town right now really where I want it would go to,
like specifically eat food is Brett because those restaurants are
that good.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
Yeah, And you may be right on that. I was thinking,
like tell you ride with places like wood Ear and
they have a few fine dining locations, but it's such
a drive, but when you're down there, you'll at least
be able to enjoy yourself. And then if you obviously
want more approache onlee casual down there, you get the
Blue Pans Sister restaurant, Uh brown Dog, you know, so
like that one's a fun when that's kind of that same,

(15:00):
but it's just a fucking track. But it made me think.
I was like, well, what are we gonna do for
supper or for lunch those days? And I guess, you know,
there's a few options, but I wasn't sure if there's
something that was a glaring omission that we should maybe
check out. But I guess we'll find out together.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
What's the wingspot in Veil.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Billy's the one at the bottom of that apartment at
the pool. Yeah, yeah, I don't know exactly where that is.
I think it's just like a tall but I remember
being closer to the grocery store than not. But a
fun place to grab chicken wings and a beer after
skiing all day. It's a perfect you used to be
able to smoke cigarettes kind of place.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Oh those were the days. Yeah, what's your plan this
weekend up in the mountains?

Speaker 2 (15:42):
Are you? Are you like me? Or we maximize in
pool time?

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Yeah? I'll be sitting bull side, especially because Thursday's the
big eat. So we're working diligently and difficultly to make
sure that everything goes off without a hitch. So as
soon as Thursday night is complete, I'm gonna take a
nap on the ride up to Valet Friday morning. So
I'm hoping that if anybody's listening to this is gonna
be there, please come find me. We're gonna have some fun.

(16:06):
Fifty plus restaurants, twenty plus beverages, live music, a DJ.
We're praying that we don't get tumultuous weather, but at
the same time, a lot of the area is covered
and we have a foul weather plan, so don't fret.
It's gonna be a big time all the same.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Three days' super excited.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
It's gonna be awesome. It's be a great time. We
heard Kristin talking about some of the great menu items
last week we're doing. I got second place, even though
I probably shouldn't have. But it's gonna be awesome. The
menus looking magnificent, and the booze will be flowing. It's
been great, and our friends from Raki will be doing
a cool kind of activation out front before the party.

(16:46):
So if you want a pregame and maybe you got
to stimulate that appetite, there'll be a cannabis can. The
Cabana Cannabis Bus will be parked on thirteenth right around
the corner where we will be able to share some
product and some love before going into the festivities. It's
gonna be fucking awesome.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
That is awesome. I'll be there.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
Yeah, So three more days and then we're on vacation
time and veil, but I'll see you on Friday. I'm
glad to hear the family time well went well. Shout
out to our friends over at Brixton, Tavernetta, Mead Street,
Pony Up for all the hospitality this weekend. Next week
we'll start back with guests. I know Kristen was a
fan favorite because I had people chirping me about fucking

(17:28):
losing tour. So we'll have more guests on the Power
Rank everything from skeet Town's to best Bites. Until next episode.
You'll stay high, stay hungry, Big Eie.
