(00:39):
Good morning everybody. You know,a lot happened over the weekend. We
had ratings information, we got yeahdeals with the Major League Baseball. Now
with the last week of the season, we have some really good news for
those of you who are streamers onAmazon. And Lee Corso got himself in
(01:03):
trouble. We'll talk about that. And how could we not forget the single
most important story of the weekend, and that is that Taylor Swift showed up
in Kansas City to watch Travis Kelseyplayed football. And so what more could
you want? It's jam pack.So let's get to it, alrighty,
(01:23):
Let's go to the NFL where anamazing thing happened, and that was that
Prime videos version of Thursday United Footballscored massive numbers on Thursday night. According
to Nielsen the ratings, so thegame between the Eagles and the Minnesota Vikings
(01:47):
drew an average of fifteen point onemillion viewers across all digital platforms, which
gave it a jump of over sixteenpercent from last year's first game. Now
that was the first one, right, the game the forty nine ers name,
that was the one that broke everythingyou know on the set from standpoint
(02:08):
of it was the highest stream thegame ever number one, number two,
it would have won the night onlinear television, which is even more amazing.
And it delivered the highest ratings forthe eighteen to forty nine number which
(02:29):
again huge. So let's take alook at this. I mean, the
fact of the matter, that issomething that is streaming versus something you can
watch on you know, throwing onthe rabbit ears end up watching it.
You know. That was that waspretty amazing stuff. The forty nine Ers
(02:49):
game streamed more than even the EaglesMinnesota game. They got to seventeen million,
which, as I said before, would have won the Now did win
the Friday and Thursday night package. From standpoint of it beat everything on television
on Thursday night, and that wasa streamer versus everybody else on either cable
(03:12):
or linear television. So that's arecord, and just look forward to continue
to ascend, folks. It's goingto get better. So after two games,
absolutely amazing numbers for Amazon. Allright, good on them, and
we'll see how things continue to youknow, to continue to roll. Speaking
(03:32):
of rolling, the Notre Dame,Ohio State game, which was televised this
past Saturday night on ABC. I'msorry NBC ex on NBC that was the
most watched game radio season game incollege football since nineteen ninety two. Okay,
(03:55):
so big numbers there. They alsocame to the fifteen million number they
were at. They were thirteen sevenand then blew that away for just twenty
minutes, which was the last twentyminutes of the game, which is if
you watched that, you knew thatOhio State won the game on the single
(04:16):
last play of the game. Soyou know that number, which by the
way, was close to ten o'clockon the East Coast, was a number
that was almost seventeen million. Soseventeen million watched that final twenty minutes on
NBC of Notre Dame in Ohio State, So kudos to them. It was
(04:42):
a big weekend, huge win forthe Big Ten on NBC. It was
really kind of a hybrid because wehad a Big ten, then we had
there name, So there you goand consequential game, interesting game fund game,
all right. Now, that takesus to someone who I personally care
and we feel about. I've hadthe players to work with him many times
(05:05):
in the past. Lee Corso. Now Lee is you know the guy on
game day. He's he's you know, he's done an outstanding job of basically
breaking down the games. He's kindof like the you know, anchor Americus
of the of that he's been theresince day one of game day. And
(05:30):
he's he's known for his his youknow, fun and kind of not two
harsh jabs. He's you know,he's a he's a soft puncher. He
got himself in trouble now. Hegot himself in trouble and social media because
he said in the game between youknow, Washington State and Oregon State that
(05:53):
it was called the nobody Cares game. Now, look it was the pack
too. James Music gave there werea lot of newspaper people who were worse
in what they said and worse inwhat they did than what you know,
Lee did. And I felt,if you're from either of those universities and
(06:17):
lord knows you have been treated poorly, we would get that. But for
the out you know, the outpouringof haters on social media with regard to
Courso it's just it's not fair.I mean, the guys has proven time
(06:39):
and time again that he is probablyone of the largest, if not the
largest, supporter of college football. He's been there as a coach. He's
been there as a broadcaster now foralmost thirty six thirty seven years. You
know, as I said, trulyone of the nicest guys on the planet.
I am absolutely sort that he meantno harm or disrespect what he said.
(07:04):
And as I said before, therewere newspaper guys and people bloggers and
god knows how many people who areon sports talk radio that made far bigger
fun of the team than I'm sorryof that game than did leave. But
he seemed to me hung out todry on that. So look, if
(07:25):
you're one of those haters that jumpon the league or so and feel that
he disrespects those two universities, hecame out with a statement and said he
did not. And if you knowhim and I you know, can't say
that I'm you know, old buddieswith him, but I can say that
I've worked with him at least adozen times and found him to be nothing
(07:46):
but a true professional and a wonderfulhuman being. I don't think that he
meant any harsh criticism by the team. He just you know, in some
ways called him what it was. There's what's be honest, have not been
chosen to you know, there's thelast two standing in the pack two.
So you know, at the endof the day, come on, guys,
(08:09):
be be nice. I mean,Lee's not a bad guy. And
you know the term part on socialmedia is he's just not fair. Okay,
just not fair. So my hopeis that you get it. The
fact that he's he's what he's donefor college sports is hacked him a lot
better than one off left cuff forthe mark, which I'm sure that according
(08:31):
to his statement, you know,he obviously meant no harm from it.
So leave him alone. All right, there's other people you can tear apart.
Leave Lee alone. Okay. Sowe spoke about the big news being,
of course, why wouldn't it bethat Taylor Swift shows up against the
(08:52):
City Chiefs game because Travis Kelsey maybeyou know, she and he may be
dating. Wow, Okay, that'sthat's the big takeaway. The fact of
the matter is over thirty eight millionpeople, it's a stunning them searched the
(09:16):
name Travis Kelsey. Let's just putthis way. The Chiefs sale of merch,
which is basically there, you know, Jersey for the weekend, so
(09:37):
a lot of Travis Kelsey merch waspurchased by Taylor Swift fans. On NBC's
Today's Show, they noted many ofthe Swifties are saying that this is going
to put Travis Kelsey on the map. Well, for those who haven't paid
attention to professional football, Travis Kelseywas doing okay before the potential and day
(10:00):
Taylor Swift. As a matter offact, Travis Kelsey was is the reigning
top player, top tight end inthe NFL and has been nothing short of
miraculous with three Super Bowl rings. So not a bad life for Travis Kelsey.
So if you're a Swifty out thereand you're just getting new to Travis,
(10:24):
he's fantastic. You're gonna like him. If you're gonna, where's merch?
Good on you. His brother hada lot of fun with that.
And there's Marcus Swift, who's oneof the right backs for the Eagles.
Travis Kelsey's brother, Jason had youknow, he placed for the Eagles,
and Jason, you know, stoodnext to his buddy, you know,
(10:48):
mister Swift, and uh, youknow, you had two jerseys together and
it was a Swift and it wasa Kelsey so standing mixer. Uh.
In two Philly jury these were youknow, Taylor Swift's name Swift and Felsey.
All right, so mash that uphowever you wish, but it you
(11:09):
had to mention it because ratings wise, I'm guessing that the Kansasy Chiefs,
who already do well in the ratings, are going to do incredibly well now
that now that Taylor and Travis aremaybe dating and who knows, they're just
having a good time at the moment. So there you go, nothing like
you know, pop culture on aTuesday morning. Now, ESPN, who
(11:33):
as we know and we reported numeroustimes, is attempting to do everything they
can to cut costs. They're gettingrid of they're you know, much value
sports studio in New York City thism m hmm. Pick up some cash
(12:37):
for that. So we're also,by the way, going to likely shut
down that LA production center out there, and unfortunately the staff there were more
remotely with something that they don't haveto get rid of a number of people
(13:01):
that are that would be very, very very bad. So they're going to
the end of the ABC studios indowntown New York and that's where you see
The Morning America. But you know, ESPN has just decided you know,
they can't go any you've not makinghim anyway. They really don't do much
(13:28):
in the La Studio of the productioncenter, and they didn't do much of
Sport, I mean for two showsin support, which easily could be you
know, could be moved out toyou know, across towns of Seventh Avenue,
Spot Avenue with Americans. So we'llsee that works out for for ESPN.
(13:52):
But let's hope that they don't haveto do a lot of of of
their stuff. You know, theCFL Countdown, part of that show was
from Seaport, but it also partof it was from Bristol, so there's
no reason. Look, Bristol hasserved quite well ESPN for many, many
(14:16):
years, so I see no reasonfor them to to worry about that.
I think they can. You know, nobody's going to be upset not doing
this show from Seaport, you know, also by the Port and also Sunday
Night Baseball the K broadcast, whichof course is alexis this new deal that
(14:39):
he has, So we'll see whatwhat obviously there is there you yeah,
all right, tonight very important stuff. We're in the Pennant chase, and
this is the last week there's inBaseball. Now, the game on TVs
(15:03):
tonight is already play that they gotand nothing to prove that the battling for
(15:26):
the final playoffs spot in the inthe National League. So if Morton did
the Coups not so much to theBraves, doesn't mean the Braves aren't going
to show up and they play hard. They will. And the late game,
which will be on the MLB Network, that's a nine thirty five start
on MLB network, is going tobe the Angels hosting the Texas Rangers.
(15:52):
Now, Texas is in first place, they are, you know, holding
onto that with deal life, it'squite likely that they will finish it in
the first place spot. Houston,on the other hand, we don't know
what's going on there. Seattle,we don't know what's going on. So
those two teams are worthy of watchingtonight, and I'm quite sure that the
(16:17):
Major League MLB Network will be morethan happy to pry updates on what's going
on during that game between the Rangersand the Angels. Now, what you
need to do, if you're abaseball fan, and I know many of
you are out there, what youwant to do is you want to keep
your eye on if you go toMLB dot com. They have the schedule
(16:40):
which is out and each day theywill tell you what's happening with regard to
where the games are going to be, all right, So I think it's
a very important that you, youknow, stay in touch with MLB dot
com. Go to the schedule. It'll give you a list of games.
It'll tell you where you'll watch themon television, because it's gonna bounce around
(17:02):
from today, of course, isTuesday. There's gonna be a Friday night
obviously game on on Apple TV.Plus they'll let you know where that's going
to be right now, it's aTBA. Fox has a Thursday night game
again TBA, we don't know whatyou know where it's going to be just
yet. And then of course overthe weekend, MLB network is likely to
(17:22):
have at least one or two gameson both you know, Saturday and Sunday.
So all of that right now,is TBA all right now? In
the shows on Thursday and Friday,we will ask entertaining there's a ton of
(17:52):
interesting storylines, not the least ofwhich is who's going to make the playoffs?
Right now? As I said before, in Americanley, you're gonna keep
your eye on Seattle. I'm gonnapat your keep your eye on forse Houston
and JA maybe y M or outof plative. So there's a mean that's
(18:23):
an American internationally. It's the Cubs, it's the rent with an outside chance,
it's the Giants with an outside chance, you know, and it is
the Arizona Diamondbacks. So you haveto really pay quite a bit of attention
(18:47):
and do what there we will keepyou. Yeah, mh. I'm gonna
(19:45):
start playing college football games on Fridaynight and then Saturday and then on Sunday.
Of course, they have the NFL, they'll have a NASCAR, But
look for in the fall and intothe and into the early winter, probably
(20:07):
January February, look for them toair college basketball in those spots. So
you're likely to get a Friday nightcollege basketball game, a Saturday night college
basketball game, maybe even a Sundaynight college basketball game. So you know,
if you're a fan of college sports, keep an eye out because right
now it looks like Fox has decidedthat they're going to push all those chips
(20:30):
into the center. As I saidbefore, they've got the NFL, they've
got certainly majoring baseball as well asas well as NASS far so look for
them as a program a lot ofsports on the weekends starting on Friday nights,
which the whole the whole of thereright now because they used to have
the WV SmackDown the nest now partyou're a fan of fun just at this
(21:02):
news and that is if you're afan of the TV show Heels, you
will be sad to hear that theyhave canceled. They will not do a
third year of Heels on Stars. So it is a good show's entertaining.
I wish they would have kept itgoing. Maybe, just maybe they can
find another place for another taker. At this point, we don't know,
(21:27):
but this wore. We know onething that they're not going to be on
Stars. So there you go,folks, from that standpoint, all right,
quick quick hit on recapping, andthat is Big night. Last Thursday
night four, the NFL on Primeset a record, set a record.
(21:49):
On Saturday Friday, excuse me.On Saturday Night, NBC set their record.
That was the most watch game sincenineteen ninety two on television. That
was a linear on NBC. Thatwas the big big ten game over the
weekend. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelseybecame an item on national television and lastly,
(22:15):
but not in any way, shapeor form less important layoff of you
know, League Corso. He's agood guy. He made, you know,
made a bad, a bad analogywith regard to that statement he made
about Oregon state Washington state. Butlook it's not there's no malice with this
(22:41):
guy, absolutely a hundred percent nomalice. So kind of a break,
all right, Okay, guys,it's been fun. We will see you
tomorrow at ten o'clock, so byall means we'll affoord doing spending some time.
We did have a lonely day, stayed ride and Pickture on the East
(23:03):
coast, and we'll see Mr Okay, all right,
