Speaker 1 (00:01):
What is going on? Everybody? Welcome to strike up your
quick beer reviews with your pals. Allen Rapiday RAPPI Dave,
I'm Allen. How's it going, buddy, it's going. We're starting
to get into these beers tonight. We got NFL kicking off,
so but we have in front of us focus Focus.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
I'm focused. I just couldn't remember. Just make sure my
ringer was off.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Is it distill Destill? Yeah? Brewery Deadhead Imperial ip A
West Coast style? Yeah, look at that ip.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
A Imperial slash double is what's classified as. This beer
pours a clear straw color and ghosts an aromatic blend
of tangerine grapefruit in a hint a passion fruit from
cicram mosaic cops, rounded out by a piny note from
Chinook Chinook. It's full bodied with crisp, dank and pithy
(00:46):
finish that won't overwhelm your palette. Cheers, coming in at
nine percent alcohol by volume sixty ibused. Average score a
three point ninety four out of five on untapped out
of two thousand, three hundred and forty rating your.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Phone real quick, Okay, take a picture of this gorgeous
looking drink.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
It does look nice, wasn't it? It looks great some reason?
Speaker 1 (01:10):
I got a sombrero behind it.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
But that tastes pretty darn good, all right, not taste,
but smells pretty darn good.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Yeah. Suit, we're working with here.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Those tank ones, man, they get me every time. Cheers,
male models, good things.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Cheers Joe cheers. Uh. It's good looking color too. It's
got a good head on it got a little bite. Oh,
it's a little boozing.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
It gets you in the jaws right there, awls.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Yeah, so deadheaded. I guess this is what's it called from? Uh,
what's it? What are the deadheads?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Grateful dead?
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Yeah, grateful dead? Right, Yeah, it's gotta be right, I
would assume. So didn't say didn't have anything else about that.
They're from normal. It's Illinois. That's normal Illinois. Okay, that's great.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
I like that can, big fan.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Can's cool like the skull and the beer is pretty
darn tasty. Yeah, I can tell you that. I like
putting it in my mouth.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Oh Jesus, yeah, obviously, Jesus, God, dog, what's wrong with you?
It looks awesome?
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Nothing? What's wrong with you?
Speaker 1 (02:15):
West Coast? I haven't had a West Coast style in
a while, and they tend not to even get them
when I go out because they're always a little bit
higher ABV and they're a little bit higher on the
ibu's obviously, so it's a little bit more of a kick.
But I love like I'll have like a say, I'll
do a flight on one, okay, you know, like separate
and I'll mix in a lot of West Coast's West
Coast and in uh stuff like that, the boys New England,
(02:39):
you know stuff. But yeah, like they get a lot
of a lot of flavor going on right there.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
There is, there's a lot of flavor to it. It's
pretty darn tasty.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
I definitely like it. So you're getting any tangerine, greape fruit,
or passion fruit. A little bit passion fruit there a
little bit as soon as I had a drink. Now
my nose all clogged up. I don't know what's wroing on?
Can he citrus? Little tangerine, getting a little bit grapefruit.
Definitely grapefruit, that's that. Yeah, I think the grapefruit.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Is what I pick up the most out of it.
Pretty darn tasty, I an't really.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Notes. Yeah, definitely sticky got that sticky, crisp dank. Pithy
finished you.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Got excited when you're reading the camp before the review
and you said dank.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Yeah. Well, you know, I first got introduced introduced to, like, say, dank,
I p as and things like that. It was at tups.
They have that their Dankster. They're evil Danster. Yeah, and
I was like, dude, this is freaking awesome. And this
is a long time ago, and uh, I can't remember
if I was having it there or I was having
it with like Zach and them, and so he was like, yeah,
(03:44):
this is what I'm like, what the hell is this? Like,
Oh my god, it's so freaking tasty. And I love
the smell too. The smells like is that what you know?
I was like, that's what that smells like, Like dank,
that's a dank, Oh buddy, yeah, smell that earth you know, pine,
that's you know, like I said, that earthy kind of
flavor and smell. And you know, back when we were
(04:05):
kind of getting going, we'd have a bunch of Hazys
and other things like that would be most a lot
of tropical fruit, right, you know, or citrus, you know,
real heavy on the citrus and so that's what Lizzie.
She used to say. They were all like greapefruit cheese. Right,
it smells like great fruit schoo. But now what does
she drink? She drinks not but hazes right, like, yeah,
just chill out and you might like it all right,
(04:26):
So but but yeah, this thing is freaking good. You
have been to the Brewer you're from up north?
Speaker 2 (04:31):
No, this one, I've never gone.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
We've got a couple of their beers, actually more than
a couple.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
But yeah, I want to say I've only been to
Illinois once, like I've driven through there before. Yeah, but
I've only gone to stay there once when when the
nobles living there went up there to go to Cubs game.
I actually went up there a couple times. Actually, I
take that back, when the nobles living there, once for
(04:58):
a softball tournament and then once.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
For Okay, my aunt uncle used to love up there
an r I p Uncle Gordy and he's I learned
to skate up there. He taught me how to skate.
We sco up there for the holidays and stuff like that,
so understand how cold it can get up that way.
And a lot of good memories. Yeah, because they had
the they'd have the you have the basements up there.
(05:24):
I love the basements the same day in Kentucky too,
right as like every house like even this is what
if that's one thing I could change about Texas. I
want basements, you know, and then get all the more
uns out Austin. But anyways, good luck with that. But
I remember going up there and like I said, they
do they go bowling. So they were all Polish on
(05:45):
that side of the family, the married in, right, so
go bowling on Thanksgiving or whatever. It's big old you know, Thanksgiving,
spread this and that, and then next day you go
ice skating, next day you do you know, all this
kind of stuff. And then of course yeah, they had
w g and all the time on Bozo the Clown.
They had one of those things set up in the
in the basement where you toss the ball, the big
(06:06):
ball there and go go ahead, you know, because.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
I always wanted to go on that. They were like
because I said, I set up my own, and I
was like crushed it.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
I gotta get on Bozo.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
I gotta get on Bozo. But I never never.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
They uh, And so that's what it was. You're like,
we got all y'all's names submitted, so if they ever
picked y'all, you know, come on up. And so yeah,
we said drive up. Of course we drove. We drove everywhere,
and so I don't remember a lot of the driving
up there, but I remember being there, and I remember
all that. You know. I could close my eyes now
and it's like my little cousin was like trying to
skate or whatever, and he's like kicking me because I'm
(06:38):
too close to him, right, I'm like he's tacking me.
You know. They go around him, you know, he's on
the side of the wall, go around tread treading to
carving up all the ice, you know, right, And uh,
but yeah, a lot a lot of great memories up
there with Uncle Fordy.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
So, yes, nice, this is a pretty darn delicious beer.
I'm not gonna lie. I really like it. Yeah, I'm
let me finish it. I'll give you a score, okay.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Yeah, I mean obviously this thing checks boxes. Like I said,
it's I think a little bit darker than a straw color. Yeah,
but the head on it was really good, like perfect carbonation.
I gave it a kind of a go. I didn't
like dump it, but I gave it a fast poor
Uh it did clear up quite a bit. It's just
a little bit of a little bit of murkiness center
nothing crazy, nothing, no floaters, no, nothing like that. But
(07:24):
uh but yeah, this is a This is definitely a
box checker.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Yeah, I'm a four on this one. I really enjoy it.
The average scores three point nine to four, so I'm
a little bit above the average on it. Yeah, I
really like it. I really enjoy it. And I love
the ones like these always come to these big old
tall boys. I love that, Like there's just something about
a beer that comes in a big old tall boy that.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Nineteen point two this is, you know that when we
say tall boys would generally mean like sixteen ounces, but
when we're talking about like craft beers and whatnot, they'll
come in nineteen point two's. I got this beer from
Lone Star if I'm not mistaken, Lone Star Beverages in Carrollton, Texas,
and they do have a deal and like say, they're
taller ones of the nineteen point two is I'll have
like you know, it's a couple of bucks, you know,
(08:05):
or it's like two for six or two for seven
or something like that. So a normal beer, and you know,
and they don't go, oh it's a bud lighter or
something like that, no offense a bud light or mill
light or anything like that. But you're talking too disrespect.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
We all due respect.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
You're talking about a nine percenter, right, and you know
you can get a couple. And then they had a
couple of big ones there, Imperials. I was like, what so,
but I went off of a the abd on this
one and the other one. I was like, got to
got to gotta go hard on this one, you know.
But for me, I'm a four as well. Not only
does it check the boxes, but it's just really tasty.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
It's really good, nice flavor fill fills your mouth with
the flavor, right, oh yeah, and the IBus get you
and you just you feel the cheeks, right, And I
love that. I love that feeling when you get something
that's got a little bit of higher abb and you
just kind of feel it. You're just like, oh yeah, buddy.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
And it's it's it's quite it's like you got it
coming through not only the cheeks, but you're like salivating
a little bit too because of the tangerine, the passion
fruit and the grapefruit or whatever, the citrus and it's
like it's juicy where you're like, I just want a
little bit more, you know. But but yeah, big thumbs
up for us or for me. I don't want to
talk to you.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
I mean, I gave it a four.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
I know.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Not only do I think this beer is good, but
it's good for you. Hey, it's just science. You can't
argue with that. There you go, go and get some.
Have you guys had this before? Are you from normal Illinois?
Tell us is just normal there? Or is it like, like, dude,
is it like normal?
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Is it like? Hell? We got to Seattle or Austin?
It up? Like you know what I mean, it's probably
the weirdest place on earth.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
I don't know about that, you think? So no, no, no, no, no, no,
not up in Illin.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Come on, I'm about to start talking with how weird
is normal Illinois?
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Not at all? But hey, guys, let us know.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
As always, I'm out.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
We'll talk to you later.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
