On June 8, 2019, police in Muncie, Indiana responded to the YWCA women's shelter on Charles Street on a report of an unresponsive child. There, they found 3-month-old Shae Anna Marie Styhl covered in bruises, burns, and blisters, and an autopsy revealed extensive skeletal trauma, including fractures in both arms and legs. Her mother, 32-year-old Sarah Styhl, was arrested.
