Il professor Gian Vico Melzi d'Eril, discendente dell'erede di Leonardo, ha ricostruito la storia dei fogli dell'artista rinascimentale, seguendone le tracce in Inghilterra, in Spagna, in Francia e anche negli Stati Uniti e raccogliendo aneddoti e storie sui personaggi che negli ultimi cinque secoli sono entrati in possesso del materiale vinciano.
