Speaker 1 (00:02):
Superhero Speak. Sure we have legends a lot and sorry
crazy John and John, John, Chaste pas.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Last everybody, and welcome to Superheroes Speak. We are back,
we are alive, and we are better than ever. I'm
your O, Steve and John and Don. I love the
enthusiasm already from all of us. Yay. Oh wait, sarcasm
meters going crazy here?
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Hell, let me get my coke cola. Yes, I'll step.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
How the hell is everyone doing? It's been two weeks.
We had a lot of stuff going on in our lives.
We had the holidays that I am sure we have
things to discuss. Then John, you can go first and
share whatever you wish to share, and then we will
(01:12):
try to then make it a happy show.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Oh yeah, I was gonna say it. Decided to go
to pressing first. Yeah, I got to see. The reason
why I haven't been around is because my mother was
in stage four cancer in hospice and she passed away
two days before Christmas, literally an hour before the last
time I saw her. Yeah, it was a great time anyway,
(01:36):
That's that's why I haven't seen me. I there's no
spin I can put on that is going to make
it any any way. Palable for anybody years. It was
almost as bad as watching the Accolade.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
I just I will say that anyone who's lost a parent,
we know what you're going through. But the other thing
is I found when I lost my wife. Really we
didn't take a lot of time off. The best thing
was getting back doing this and hanging out with you
fine gentlemen every week.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
So yeah, I remember you had a rough few weeks
after that. We you know, we hung out and yeah,
it gives us something, our minds to something else to do.
Hi carnage JD.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
We any new followers while I was gone, We might
have gotten one or two. We're at twenty six thousands
subscribers now on the YouTube's it's great.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Oh great, you know that I'm here. It can go down.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Oh yes, yes, anyway, that's.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
All I'll say about it. Again. Hug your loved ones.
You don't know what's going to happen in the future.
Enjoy the time you've got. Do not make this a
miserable life. We're not here for very long. Have fun, fine,
joy and just make sure you tell the people that
you love them.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
I dated a joy. Yeah it didn't last.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Long, Jesus, I mean that would normally be by quite
quite well.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
But I did have some joyful times anyway, Uh, you survived, obviously,
you survived the holidays with all of that. I'm sure
held some of your family close during that time, probably
punched others in the face. It's it's the holidays. It's
what we do. Speaking of punch of people in the face,
how are you.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Done a bunch of people in the face are on
the holidays? Punch of claws? No, no, I'm doing. I
had a great holiday, which is I don't want to
say unexpected, but it was the first holiday in the
house where all the kids were beyond believing in Santa Claus.
So there's no need to be secretive. You'd think that,
But the fact that there was no need to be secretive, it's, hey,
(03:35):
what do you want? Great boom there it is. The
presents are wrapped there under the tree. So Christmas Eve,
when we're tired and everything, we don't have to wait
for the kids to go to bed then put none
of that. So I don't know that just that was
that was real fun actually, which again is unexpected because
they go all the more kids I don't believe in
Santa But yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
I'm fine with it. One's good.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
They oh, hey, they imagine that makes sense. Thank you
for stopping lying to me, Dad. So yeah, no, that
was so.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Yeah. I haven't been.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
Here for two weeks, so I've had to keep my
inane babbel to myself. But now I get my hour
release every week, so happy days.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Are here for me. It could Yeah, your laws first foremost.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
My my sister's ten year old walked up to her
while I was there over Christmas, and he's the same
I saw the same wrapping paper downstairs that was on
the Santa gifts.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
What's what goes on?
Speaker 3 (04:29):
He's not real, He's like. My sister's like, damn it.
She wanted to hang on as long as again, but
they just get too smart nowadays.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
You know what, don I remember? I remember the year
that my son finally stopped believing, and it just it
makes so much easier not to have to worry about
there in bed and sneak the presence down. In fact,
we got to the point where we just we wrapped
the presence and brought them down before Christmas and there
they are, but you can't open them. Yep, yeah, kills them.
(04:58):
She kills them even more there. Yes, I'm I had
a great couple of weeks. I feel bad saying that
it is what it is. Actually, let me preface it.
I got to spend a lot of time with my girlfriend.
But the reason that I did is because she had
advanced paradimal disease and had to get implants and decided
(05:23):
the best time to do that was right before they
get two weeks off because she works at a school,
so she decided to do it right before the break.
So she spent at least the first week the Christmas
week in bed, most of the time, miserable, not doing much.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Get I've had two implants. I don't know them.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
She had all her teeth removed and got implants.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
Oh yeah, there is none of Ben and Jerry's in
the world for that.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
And the dentist that she went to, who's a It's
a reputable place, like they got great reviews and they
did a good job. But they don't use anesty. They
don't put you to sleep where she was hoping to
be knocked out for that.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
But nope, what backroom out of the back of a
band place did you bring her?
Speaker 2 (06:09):
I no, she researched it she found a really reputable
place to do it. But yeah, they and they had
some explanation.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Discount Kevin's discount dentistry and pet.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Supply success Karma, Karma aged JD carnage JD Carnage JD.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
We've had a carnage GD on here before.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yes, I don't think it's our JD. Are you punishing her? No,
I'm not. I didn't cheap the place. I'm telling you, jeez.
You try and be a good boyfriend and take care
of her when she's down. And no, people think you
did it at all purpose. No, but she's doing better now.
And then here she's supposed to go back tomorrow. And
(06:54):
as she drove me home, dropped me off this afternoon,
and just then she got a text all school Philadelphia
schools are close tomorrow because of the weather. It was
like bonus day. And I also but the other thing
I wanted to share with our audience. I've already shared
it on my social media. Don I think you've seen these.
I have discovered a new hobby of mine that is
(07:16):
I am fast and furious involved in, and that is painting.
So I did this, finish this right over right after Christmas.
Attribute obviously to Eddie van Halen. And this one I
just finished the other day, like two days ago, and
I ended up giving it to Karen as a present.
So yeah, and I'm already working on my next one.
So yeah, I'm loving painting now. It's my my new passion.
(07:40):
It's going to keep me out of trouble. I think.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
People die something like that. I cannot figure out how
to get an image from my head through my arm
to my hand and put it on paper.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
That is an unfathomable thing. I will say this. When
you're dating a woman whose one son is an art major,
he can help you with stuff. So he helped me
do the Eddie van Hallen painting and then this one.
There is an amazing channel right here on the YouTube's
called the Art Shirp. Unfortunately she passed away last year,
(08:21):
but she has hundreds of videos on her channel that
are still there and you should go check them out.
And they're all step by step and there's beginner to
advanced painting techniques. That particular painting was a beginner to
level one. It's only four colors and you go, she
goes very slow, step by step, and yeah, of course
(08:42):
it doesn't look exactly like hers, but it's it's my
interpretation of it. And yeah, I think if you're if
you have a desire to do painting, check out her
channel and and and enjoy because it's a lot of fun.
The other thing that I think we all did while
we were on break we caught up on some streaming
shows that that are out there in the world. We
(09:03):
have three shows that I think our audience is probably
interested in. Let's see, let's start with everyone's favorite, and
of course that's The Skeleton Crew because I know that's
one that we were all watching. And what do we
think so far? Don't trust the trash Crabs, that's all
I know. That was in the latest episode.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
I'm caught. I'm not cut up on that one. I'm
caught up on the other tube. But that's fine.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Oh wow, I.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Hey, I've been We're busy planning out.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
I know, I did you but an Irish? So did
you trust? Was there like no interest in watching it?
Or I'm just curious?
Speaker 3 (09:42):
No, just not enough time playing in Irish? Wait, you
have any idea how much alcohol I have to track down?
Like the East Coast is going to go dry.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
I'm glad I got a follow a rum last week.
What was the last episode? What's it worth?
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Yeah? I could use another What was the last episode
that you saw?
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Oh? Okay, okay, do you just speak about what about you?
What are you caught up on it?
Speaker 4 (10:09):
Yeah, I'm definitely caught up past as Don watched the
latest Star Wars series. You know, did Liam Neeson professor
his love to Pamela Anderson. Absolutely so, because he's gonna
star with her in like the Naked Gun Remakes sequel.
But yeah, I'm definitely caught up. I'm enjoying it a lot.
(10:34):
It's good if you're in the mood for it. I
think if you're just in the mood for Star Wars.
There's a lot of mystery to it. Although I know
last time that we talked about it, oh time travel
and spoilers. We're not talking time travel. It's just these
gases or whatnot that have hidden these planets that have
just kept their way since the Old Republic. Like I said,
(10:55):
it did remind me of a fallout, and it does
in that spectrhere you've got like these isolated societies. Yeah,
it's a tier above Midge like I enjoy it. It's great,
but you like you chided the Acolyte. I honestly did
enjoy The Acolyte more than this so far. But don't
get me wrong when it comes to Star Wars, I
(11:18):
love the Jedi lightsaber shit. So I thought The Acolyte
had a lot of introduce some things to the lore
that maybe this doesn't. This show seems to specialize in
reviving episode one child in insult vernacular. Oh that's a
wizard and slim oh. And I think that's the negative
of the show, because yeah, it really seems geared for kids,
(11:42):
but it doesn't seem to pool children, at least not
mine and I have free of them.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Yeah, that's one of the things I have thought too,
because I feel like they're going for the people that
grew up on goonies and played in the Navigator in
those and like the nostalgia factor, but still keeping a
kid friendly, hoping it would bring in new kids. But yeah,
I don't know if it is.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
It does get I don't want to say it's not
glory at all, but it does have some dark parts.
I remember that one part and not in the last episode.
The episode before that were like those New Republic guards,
they fall into those traps like gravity beam them up
into the spikes. It doesn't show him hitting the spikes
what just happened.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
But I feel like they would have done something like
that in Goonies. In those movies, something bad happened to
the bad guys, they just don't show it. And oh man,
that was something too. So the last episode, it's just
the kids, and I don't want to spoil too much
for John, but the one thing they did in the
episode prior to that is the one thing I was
(12:45):
hoping they wouldn't do in the show at all. I'm
loving Jude Law's character and then to have him, you know,
turn on the kids, you know, in a moment, but
then it's like, you know that it's gonna that's the
whole thing. It kind of made me like because now
I know exactly where this is going. He's going to
redeem himself in the end by saving the kids, that's exactly, yeah, exactly. Yes,
(13:11):
he's going to get the Han solo arc, which I mean,
he's a good actor and I love the character and
I think he's doing a great job, but it's just
so predictable for Star Wars at this point. Yeah, I
don't know. I love it. I can't like I think
is the next episode of the last episode.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
I think so yeah, and you saying that kind of
jogged my memory. A little bit of a good point
to the show is that I think they actually do
a pretty good job of portraying like what it would
be like to go on these intergalactic pirate missions, but
the crew is mostly fucking kids that you can have
the best laid plan ever, and then they just start
(13:46):
arguing over dumb shit. You're like, no, stop, So I
do expect being a parent like seeing Jude Law or
the other adult characters. Are we doing that's going crazy.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
It's funny because people I know that are within our
age range that don't have kids, and I know a
couple like there, they don't like it, they don't understand it,
and then us who have kids are like, no, that
is how kids act. This works perfectly. Whoever wrote this
has to be a parent who was like frustrated with
(14:19):
their kids. Yeah, the whole thing, and the whole show
kicks off because whim passed presses a button that's blinking
because he's that's something a kid would do, especially because
another kid said, don't touch anything.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
No, I have a child, My middle child, who Yeah,
if the red button's blinking, she's going to ask to
press it about five seconds after she's already done.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Oh yeah, we've all had that. And the kids like
they're they're the right age for it. The actors and
they're so good in this. I don't know how you
get a kid to be that good at it, but wow,
it's it's good. If you're not watching this wrong with you,
check out Skeleton Crew with a lot of fun. Jude
(15:04):
Law is awesome, the kids are great. Yeah, all right,
what okay? What's something that we've all watched or did
we all watch? What If?
Speaker 4 (15:12):
I don't think so that's you know, I'm saying I'm
going to ride the bench here for these next two.
I just I don't think I know about what if.
It makes me and only because it hits a trope
nerve of mine, is the what if? For I guess
they all do a vultron fucking thing where they've all got.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
The first episode that was hilarious. It was which Hulk
was that World War Hawk World War Breaker halk No,
I don't think it was. That's that wasn't from the comics.
That was its own thing. It's it's what would happen
if the Hulk was separated from and it becomes this
(15:48):
what's the term? This giant yeah ship?
Speaker 4 (15:55):
Okay, you know that's a little bit cooler. That's a
little cooler than the Earth X shit where he's like
when Bruce Banner rides halk in the halk where's a paper?
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Oh man?
Speaker 2 (16:08):
So a good comic but weird take.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
There were eight episodes.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
One of them I heard there was another episode that
was basically deleted that had to do with Kang. I
don't know how true that is, but I've heard there
was a Kang episode that was either deleted or they
didn't film it like they they removed it before they It's.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
Been reported that there was there seems to be one
that was memory hold.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
Yeah, I'm wondering if Jonathan Mangers recorded the audio for
it because they fired him, they didn't want to use
his voice just or.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
Even couldn't because of contractual things. Oh yeah, if iire him,
they lose the rights to his likeness, especially if he
needs those rights to pay for legal bills.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
And the thing that stinks is that it would have
probably because I felt like there's a piece missing the
season by the way, you know, all of a sudden,
they're like, Because here's the thing. I didn't finish watching
season two. I had two episodes left, so I got
caught up on that and then watched all the season three,
which is now the final episode, and by the time
I got to the our final season. By the time
(17:15):
I got to the end of it, this was my thought,
and in all seriousness, what if had the potential to
be the twilight zone of the MCU. They could tell
weird and dark stories that were an anthology type show
that weren't connected to anything, and they could be one offs.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
But see here, here's where you get your popcorn done.
Because he and I disagree on this point.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
According to me, oh yeah, I saw Sonic three. That's
that is something I did on the break too. My
son loves the Sonic movies and we went and saw
that and it was good. It's actually really good. But
anyway back to this, it could have been I think
I could have been great because just make them one off,
unconnected stories. You could have a two parter here and there.
But the I the idea to me is the Watcher
(18:04):
is Rod Serling. He introduces the story, he gives you
the setup and then he concludes that he gives you
a little synopsis at the end of the of it
and that's it. But they decided to make him a character,
which was like, really, they've been a character, and I
hate when they did it in Civil War. It was like,
that's so stupid, Like he showed up. It was just like, oh,
(18:26):
I hated that aspect.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
And they made him a Charantastic four though first like
he was the one who gave them the not the
ultimate Olivier.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Wasn't he. Oh that is true too, Yeah, but so
he's always.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
Been He's always been a little bit of a rebel
in that And.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Basically this show should be renamed to Captain Carter a
multi dimensional warrior, because that's what the whole show ended
up being. It was her show. She's the only thread
that really connects everything together. Her and wat To are
the two things to connect the whole three seasons together.
And it's and yes, if you like Captain Carter as
(19:03):
a character, which I don't have a problem with Captain Carter,
but it was just like, eh, I don't know, and
this season felt so disjointed. It felt and I feel
like that that's why there was an episode missing with
Kang like because you had the first episode is the
Giant Robots fighting Giant manters. Okay, fine, And that felt
(19:23):
like a one off because there's nothing in that episode
that connects to anything else. It's a definite one off story.
And it was fun and it was one and done, okay,
moved on. Then all of a sudden we had They're
all in. It was like a fifteen what was it
fifteen oh two or fifteen oh eight, whatever that series
was that Marvel did when they were all like Victorian time.
(19:45):
There was an episode like that, but here it was
some kind of weird spell that was going on and
that the mentions were being killed and here Captain Carter
had to show up and save everyone. Was that this
season or was that last season? I might be getting this.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
I think that was last season.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
This is eight.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
That was last season.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
This is it? That's right.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
When we had here was eighteen seventy two. That was
the one with Shang Chi and keep is Shites.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Yes, you're right, you're right. I'm sorry, I'm getting the
confused because I can. I said, I watched the last
couple episodes of season three. That's right, it was that
episode and then they she had to fight Doctor Strange
at the end of season three and he recreates his universe,
but he's gone, which does tie into this season this well.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
A little bit.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
Yes, can I give my mina ahead.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
I liked it. I like now I know you like
the darker stuff and where my head has been lately.
I wanted something a little bit of a lighter touch
at the end, and this was good. I really liked
a lot of these stories, and I don't mind like
it's they're not really they don't feel disjointed to me.
(20:47):
They are different stories. There's no through line through all
of them except for Huatu, where in some of them
he starts to crawl a line more and more as
he starts to interfere a little bit more. And as
Thronkill said, yes, Kat Dinnings lays an egg that is hilarious.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Now that's but here's that's one of my points. So
that was a funny episode. I don't have an issue
with that. She falls into love with Howard the Duck.
They have a kid. Yes, the kid is this ultimate
power in the universe and everyone wants it. And then
at the end of the episode, the egg oak cracks
open and it's a baby girl and and it's Birdie.
But then all of a sudden, where an episode the
(21:32):
last couple episodes, Bertie's an adult and there's this four
or I'm sorry, storm, God, goddess, a thunder, Bertie and
Captain Carter and what's her and what's her face? The
Native American one from last season before them, the four
of them are now the intercollect Or interdimensional Avengers, going
around saving everything, like how did that happen? All right?
(21:56):
But how did that happen? And how was Bertie all
of a sudden of an adult? Like there was a
piece to sing somewhere in that storyline.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
Maybe you don't really need that. It's what if you're
like get in the twilight Zone. It doesn't need We
know that person exists and now here's an adult version
of her. You know, eh, Maybe you're not supposed to
be completely contiguous. They jump around from your your reality.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
You're defending a nine continuity story because they're.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
Not supposed to be. They're not they're not supposed to
have The shared continuity is what you watch you and
that's it. Otherwise they the Keipters in each episode can
come from anywhere.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
True did I just freeze there?
Speaker 3 (22:39):
Or did you freeze?
Speaker 2 (22:41):
I don't know anyway, So the.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
So don you said you didn't see it all? You didn't.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
No, I haven't watched What If? Since I watched the
first season. I never I just never got pulled to
the second season and the third season. Yeah, because I'm
all multi versed out already, so I just I'm not.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
This one was a little bit more tongue in cheek
a lot of the episodes, but didn't take itself really seriously.
The multiverse stuff was way easier to swallow. And there
was one joke I think everybody missed. Where the was it?
The Triumvirent The main watchers come down to to and
they start listening off. Everything is done. You did this,
(23:23):
and you did this, and you saved some Some person
named Sin was a synergy Sin what's her name from?
From Shang Chi? Or shoot? What's the girl who who
hangs out with Wang with? Oh my god? Why am I.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
His friend? Know?
Speaker 3 (23:42):
The one from Come on, guys, help me out here?
The one from Oh no, you know what it was from?
She Hulk? The woman who basically just every everybody just stopped.
Not Aquafina guys, it's.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
With Alison Ellis.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
Yes, yeah, where you think, Yeah, and that's what the
main watcher is like. And you saved this person with
some of the name whatever with two ends and one y.
For some reason, even Watsu was like cringing at this.
That was but now like it was funny. The whole
thing was funny. All the episodes were. I thought they
(24:20):
were just I thought they were great and you got everything,
like even the one with Reeary Williams calling out the
foibles of some of these heroes where they should have
died and then stepped in and and of course there
had to be a come up and set the end
for that.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Of course. Yeah, I liked it.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
I got a good mix of people. I love Red
Guardian man. I that actor is just he loves that
part so much. You can hear him smiling through every
word else says, and it is just hilarious.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Yeah. The Winter Soldier Red Guardian episode, that was good. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
What if the Red Guardian stopped the Winter Soldier?
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Yeah, he stopped something killing the Starks. Yeah that was good.
So yeah, it does sound very cool. Now that's what
that's and think about the Yeah, the take the Falcon
Winter Soldiers show where they like become they become buddies.
It's a weird buddy cop type show, but now replace
(25:22):
Sam with the Red Guardian. They're still in love with
Mother Russia and all that stuff, but they're in America,
and yeah, it's good. It's good. There's a lot of
comedy in that. There's a lot of comedy in all
the episodes this season, and I think that maybe was
due to some of the criticism of the other seasons.
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Yeah, Cassan is calling Marvel out man hot diggity look at.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
That, So I'm gonna not agree with him because I
think he's incorrect. I don't think it's dead, but I'm pretty.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Sure the biggest movie of twenty twenty four was a
Marvel movie. But let's go on, right, Yeah, boring that,
but boring that. Come on.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
Phase four is phase bore, Phase five, Phase give, Phase
six fase sucks like I'm just sitting here waiting for
the X Men. Although complaining about that, what was the
number one movie twenty twenty four, highest roasting R rated
movie ever Dead pulling Wolverines. I'm not quite sure how
to resolve that with myself. How that exists, But I
(26:22):
guess I'll be like, when's here's the X Men? When's
the X Men? That's gonna be me on the show
in twenty twenty five spoiler alert. Just hey, what do
you think about this mobile budget?
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Is it x Men?
Speaker 1 (26:31):
No?
Speaker 3 (26:32):
Huh, it just means you put Ryan Reynolds in charge
of the MCU because apparently he's the only one that
can make any of his work anymore. Although again, the
what if had had Storm in it, and come on,
tell me you didn't like Storming.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
But that's the other reason why I feel like this
at least one episode missing, because there's no what if
episode of how Storm became the goddess of Thunder, and
I would love to see that story they see that.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
Okay, I haven't watched it, but I will tell you
that's cool, Dave, And I know I get your point
because I want to see how the fuck this happens.
But it does happen in the comics, and it is
really fun cool. So I like to think that since
this is what if SIY, we can actually say that
that's what it is, that's in what continuity is in
from there? But so does actually sound cool? But John
(27:23):
or John, It's not like Ryan Reynolds is the only
person that can know. Ryan Reynolds was in movies about
Deadpool and people care about the Deadpool character. And then
he's added Wolverine. Oh you mean Wolverine only the best
Marvel character ever, at least according to the nineteen nineties
outside of Spider Man. Like people care about those characters.
(27:46):
So come on, that's the lesson that I'm hoping they're
learning here. Sure, do some offshoot stuff. I'm all for that,
but at the end day, your brand, butter, your money
is coming from the characters of people.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
Just to call out here, Ron, First off, Nicepool died.
We can't do a nice Pool series, So lie about
your generation. He can come back.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Yeah, this one, I like as you're saying, don like
going along with what you're saying. I think the rollout
of the X Men and maybe the Young Avengers or
whatever like this is their next chance to start to
catch whatever magic they had in the beginning. If they
messed up, well what else you can do to say?
(28:27):
But they better not mess it up because I want
to see. I don't like a whole lot of what
they've done lately, but the X Men, I want to
see a good live action X men come on.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Also, to address Cissan's comment, here these dean tiered Nubes heroes,
they can't die because there's a thousand timelines as garbage.
First off, super characters don't die in comics, like every
comic every there there are no comic book characters that
haven't come back other than Uncle Ben. I think that's
the one rule in comics. Uncle Ben is the only
(28:57):
one who doesn't come.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
Back a lot.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
And I've all died. Every other character has died and
comeback at this point. So to sit there and say,
oh no, that's the thing. The other side of that
coin is like, there are characters here that aren't d listers.
I'm sorry, Like, just because you don't like them doesn't
mean they aren't popular. That they're clubbing at this point.
(29:20):
One of them is Kamala Khan. Like she is a
beloved character in the comics. A lot of people like her,
they love her book like, she's been around for a while,
she's been proven a successful character. And they flubbed their
introduction in the MCU, And so that's a problem. The
Young Avengers. No one likes the Young Vendors. I like
the Young Avengers, like it's the whole idea is to
(29:41):
bring younger people in to like these stories, and they
you know, I don't know. I don't know how well
the books did. I thought they did fairly well. But
they're not they're not Maybe they aren't a Lesters, but
I don't know. Depends on who's on the team too, right,
Like we've got Kate Bisher, but they they've got the
whole Young Avengers have been introduced, and as we all
(30:01):
said that Agatha all along was just the Here's Wicked show.
So we're just waiting for that.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
Where like I don't know if we're still keeping trying
to keep this down to an hour. We're a little
bit over time on this. The only thing I want
to also come out call out here is Don Kill
said that new Spidey looks bad too. While I was
watching what if they had a commercial for they're adding
commercials now in the beginning of these episodes. It's just great,
But they had a commercial for the new animated Spider Man.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
We're gonna work. We'll talk about that in the news,
but that it is one of our news things.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
Yeah, So anyway, so you want to most I think
you mean Thunderbird.
Speaker 4 (30:40):
And yes, see, actually I actually thought of that when
Dave was saying, no, all heroes have come back. If
he would have said that like two years ago, I
would have said that, actually Thunderbird is still fucking dead.
But he did come back because the X Men a
whole crokoa thing where they could come back from basically
for five years, and he was one of them.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Yeah, even Gwen Stacy has come back, like and now
we've got Spider Gwinn. So yeah, from all right, So
the next show we'll talk about real quick. We'll do
this quick and then we'll get onto the news is,
of course Creature Commando's donna know you're not watching it, John,
(31:20):
I don't know if you're got caught up on it. Yes,
it's a violent, crazy show, and I think the only
thing that of major significance that has come out of
it is they had Clayface and they shared Batman. We
know Batman exists in the DCU, obviously we had we
had one of his villains. They appear to have killed Clayface,
(31:41):
but clay Face is a character, doesn't say. He's a
character who has appeared to die many times and has
come back he's also there's been four versions of clay Face,
I think in the comics. So yeah, like, obviously they'll
they're not gonna waste the character. I think he is
hard to do in live action though, do well anyway,
so we'll see. But yeah, did Batman have any lines? No,
(32:04):
did you get a good look at him? No, he's
all in shadow, but he was. It was definitely Batman,
there's no question.
Speaker 4 (32:10):
Well, and that's official, the introduction of this Batman into
the universe, right, because yeah, it's been declared this is
James Gunn DC universe.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Well, we've only got an outline though, so unless they
actually have in the next episode, I don't think they
will because that was a flashback. I don't like, I
don't think that we're going to see anything more of him.
It's just we know he's there.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Yeah, yeah, no, And that's the thing. And James Gunn
said it's very there's no detail because he also didn't
want to make any decisions about the costume and have
to recreate it in live action. That's why it's mostly shadow.
But obviously it's his cape with the pointy ends and
he's got the bat ears and it's definitely Batman standing
there looking down through the skylight. Could be the owl
(32:56):
guy from The Watchman. I'm sorry, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Well, that'd be funny.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
Yeah. The Bride versus Frankenstein's Monster is awesome. This is
Caissan's comments on future Commanders the whole Bride loving the
doctor and having the Monster kill him. It was tragic
and enthralling, and what is for us to say? Yeah,
like Civil War, Caissan, he is using death as steaks.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
Right, this is a world where Dragon ball z exists,
so right in content like this, superheroes are otherwise. Yeah,
they death is Tuesday. Yeahay's the time machine that will
bring me back. Here we are, it's Thursday. I'm having
a great time. So you do have to use other things,
interpersonal relationships and conflicts, other than they saying oh this
(33:41):
doesn't happen.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
We'll all know we're gonna die. Okay, see you see
you next week. Yeah. Come on. They've killed Steve Rodgers
and brought him back. They've killed Superman and brought him back.
They've killed God so many characters and brought them back.
That like regular humans, not even people with powers. That's
why I brought Steve Rogers up. Like it's Batman, Like,
first they broke his bat then they made it look
(34:03):
like he was dead, but he was shot with a
time travel gun that sent him away in the past,
and they did all these weird stories with him in
the DC error and all this stuff.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
And it was soumid human, right, humans can do that.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
But yeah, exactly like the idea of death being a
stake in a comic book show, like, it's not gonna happen.
It just it doesn't unless it's characters that no one
gives a crap about, no offense to people who like
the characters and Creature Commandos or Suicide Squad. That's why
James Gunn is having fun with them, because he can
kill them off and no one cares. What does Cassan
(34:41):
say here? These fake deaths basically declare the writer's thoughts
that the audience are dumber than rocks. Oh, Joe, my
favorite hero is dead. Guess But no, it's a trick
to sell comics because one of the highest selling comics
of the nineties is the death of Superman. And once
they saw that, it was like, oh, let's start killing
off other characters or breaking their backs or doing things
(35:03):
because we know what it's going to sell books.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
And it's more like it's a declaration that they're out
of ideas and that nobody's really trying or his studios
aren't letting them try to anything new because they've said,
like it worked the first time with the death of Superman,
because they didn't really kill anybody before that. Who's gone
that line between the Silver Age and the current age?
(35:25):
But like now.
Speaker 5 (35:29):
That Jean Gray bags the differen Yeah, fair enough, Jean
Gray is the OgH was I remember that Entertainment Tonight,
Like my mom used to watch Entertainment Tonight every fucking
day and they would talk about that ship.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
Yeah, but anyway, it's just an overused trope now like
it's it is now considered a trope, and they got
to get better writers or you know, they got what
the writers br Yes, and it was actually supposed to
kill Superman casan or that's what they But I'm pretty
sure that evidence came out later that said they'd always
planned to bring back.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
They always planned to bring them back. It was definitely
a planned story. And your son, you're gonna you're gonna
keep hyping this all night long. And all I can
say is, son, I don't.
Speaker 6 (36:15):
Remember asking you a goddamn thing.
Speaker 2 (36:19):

I've heard. All right, So we want to take a
commercial break or do we want to just go right
into the news since it's a We're fifty minutes in
already for Man. All right, I only have a couple
(39:43):
things to talk about, but I think this one's gonna
take a little bit of time. Let's start with the
big thing that came out since we've last got together,
and of course, that is the trailer for James Guns Superman.
I am sure we have all watched it, probably multiple
times at this point, and I'm going to start with you, John,
(40:05):
because I feel there's something about this trailer that got
you more excited than any image that was on the screen.
And that might have been the use of a certain
theatrical theme song.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
I don't know what you're talking about. It's almost like
John Williams score is the better Superman score. I'm just
who what a thunk? An updated version?
Speaker 2 (40:34):
I was gonna say. On that note, they have come
out and said that it is not exactly John Williams theme,
but they have borrowed heavily from it and update it,
and they use motifs of the original theme throughout.
Speaker 3 (40:46):
All the bars were there in the trailer, at least
the bars were there. Yes, And and you know what,
immediately within a half an hour after that trailer came
out on YouTube, they had at least four or five
people made trailers with the original score over it. And
man did it sync up well? Like It's almost like
they put that trailer together with the original John Williams
(41:10):
theme on it and then replaced it with the updated
version that they had. Yeah, let's see other things. I loved,
mister terrific metamorpho. They could have done a better bowl
cut on Guy Gardner, and Hawkgirl is there with her
nth metal mace, which I'm hoping they're doing Hawkgirl from Thanagar.
(41:31):
And other than that, yeah, what else? What else was there?
Speaker 4 (41:35):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (41:35):
Yes, Crypto is best boy.
Speaker 2 (41:38):
Crypto.
Speaker 3 (41:39):
Crypto is best boy. Crypto is awesome And he made
my day when I saw that.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
You have no heart, Casan. You know what, if you're
going to make fun of Crypto again, I have to say.
Speaker 6 (41:55):
I do remember asking you a goddamn thing.
Speaker 2 (41:59):
Sorry, you know you gotta blame that.
Speaker 3 (42:02):
Hey, let me, do you know how many before you
go down? Do you know how many of the action
videos I want through that The minute Crypto show up,
people started crying, like you get that kind of a
reaction from a trailer, because the thing is people want
to see that pure I'm going to save people that
(42:22):
that reaction because the next scene was him saving the
little girl like people are ones. But go ahead, done, sorry.
Speaker 4 (42:30):
Okay, Yeah, and I guess warning cover your cereal because
it just may get shit in here. Okay, So the
Crypto thing, I just want to come to the san's
side here.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
It's not that I didn't like it.
Speaker 4 (42:41):
It's just that I was really puzzled by that being
like the first thing we see other than Superman in the.
Speaker 2 (42:48):
God, God God. I'm'll explain all of that in a minute,
but go ahead.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
Okay, great, Because as a casual Superman fan, okay, I
will put myself there, as a mostly surface level Superman fan, I.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
Can get it a little silly, yes, Casan, that's the point.
Go ahead.
Speaker 4 (43:07):
So they're really laying it on thick and I get
because I love dogs. I think they're the most noble
creatures on the face of the planet, So I believe me.
I'm a dog fan. I just and I know this
isn't an origin, so I'm just having a hard time resolvment.
Do we have Crypto right away? Do you have another
Kryptonian right away? I bet you more deep cut DC people.
(43:28):
I'm sure I know JD JD is loving it, and
I know the Crypto in the overall feel of it
is a part of it.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
I just I don't know. It was like too much,
too quick for me. But again, I'm casual. I guarantee
that when that scene happens in the theater, even though
you've seen it in the trailer, you are gonna cry
like a little girl. Because I have good authority. I
have it under that the story because Crypto isn't in
the movie much. He's in the beginning, and he's in
(43:58):
that scene because Crypto is a very disruptive dog and
he keeps trying to pull on Superman's cape and he
uses that the fact that Crypto likes to pull in
his cape to save himself.
Speaker 3 (44:10):
We already spoiled oiling stuff. But I totally get where
don comes from, because like Crypto and Comet and all
the other super pets were from a bygone error, let's say,
like they they were retconned because people thought that they
were too silly for the more modern reader. As things
(44:30):
progressed through the comic ages, I get that. I think,
I don't think we're going to see Comet the super Horse,
but I think that James Gunn is going for a
more pure, down to earth like, more emotionally stabilized Superman
now more more what he has come out and said
(44:52):
that this is a lot based on All Star Superman,
and they want him to have connections to something other
than a place where he can brood. I think we've
got that out of our system from Snyder. There's a
point where Snyder had a good take on it, but
he went way too far with the dark and the
(45:13):
brooding and all that. So people are ready for something
more upbeat, more like Superman's gonna save people and he
has connections. And you could see through the trailer they
made sure you knew with no uncertainty at all, that
him and Lois are connected. And Lois has always been
that conduit through which people understood Superman because Superman, by
(45:38):
himself he's too much of a god. But his connection
to Lois who's a human, and their relationship always grounded
that so people could it came down to our level,
so that we could then feel something for it and
feel something for Superman through that. Yeah, James Gun's going
for a take, and the take is going to be
a little bit more silver age and maybe a little
(46:00):
bit somewhat can't be in certain places.
Speaker 2 (46:04):
Yeah, but I also think he said that he doesn't
want his Superman and this is canon as well, to
be a godlike creature, Like he wants him to have frailities.
He wants to be able to be beaten, which.
Speaker 3 (46:18):
Which is exactly why they started the trailer with him
bleeding out here.
Speaker 2 (46:21):
Here's the thing, and I think this was the most
brilliant thing. And people don't understand. Why do you start
the Superman trailer with him beaten and bleeding and c Yeah?
Speaker 3 (46:34):
Yeah, oh god, I can't tell you. Like the minute
that the smoke cleared and I saw him like that,
I'm like, oh god, no, this was done by a
geek and a nerd, and oh this is awesome. If
anybody whoever's listening, the chi Chip pose in the beginning
of Dragon Ball Z when the Sayans came down to
Earth and Napa and and and oh god, I'm just
(46:59):
vegeta yeh beating fighters And the very first person to
show up and TFS did this wonderfully was was Yamcha
and he's You'm just.
Speaker 2 (47:10):
Here, I'm just dead.
Speaker 3 (47:12):
And that was the pose that they had him in,
and it's it's become a meme now in certain circles,
anime circles and geek circles where if somebody gets beaten
brutally they'll throw the yam Chapose poster. But Don, of
course you got that.
Speaker 2 (47:27):
I feel they started with this scene and the trailer
on purpose because it's two things. It's Superman crashing into
the DCU and then he's in the fetal position for
the what was the posts He's laying there and then
he calls his dog and he tells his dog, you
know the most loyal creatures. As Don said, you know
(47:51):
all us white men love dogs. I'm sorry the stereotype us,
but there is something with like white people and dogs
and movies. And he says, take me home, like there
is and while the John Williams theme is playing, there
is something so poignant about that too, true Superman fans,
(48:12):
And I'm gonna get to all this in a little
bit to true Superman fans who grew up reading the
Silver Age and watching the Donner films and Superman was
a speaking of hope and even in watching Smallville and
watch him become that character. Superman become that character and
(48:33):
all of this it's and then he got a black eye.
I'm sorry if you're a Snider verse fan, but to
make him this dark character in the Snyder Verse, this
brooding Superman who doesn't know if he wants to be
Superman and has a disgust for humanity praising him and
all this stuff like and it's people hate true Superman
(48:56):
fans hate it that. So this is James Gunn said, Yeah,
I'm gonna to bring you home. I'm going to give
you the character of Hope again that you all love
and I really feel. And Casan asks, what do you
think of the people throwing crash at him, Parry Henry cavill,
I feel like that's probably a part in the movie
where he fails for the first time for some reason,
(49:16):
and so the crowd turns on him, and I think
that's going to be part of the story of humanizing
the character, where here's this guy who could do anything
and was saving all these people and something happens that
he can't handle and he fails, and now people are
mad at him because he failed, and that's a very
human emotion and I think it's part of humanizing him
(49:38):
for this movie.
Speaker 3 (49:39):
Yeah, but it is interesting that they put that in
the trailer, Cassan, that was a specific choice that they made,
and I guess they're still trying to show that this
Superman still has problems, still has to deal with stuff,
and again trying to bring him down to our level
so we can connect with him. There was also yeah,
you're going through it, Yeah, go ahead and carnage.
Speaker 2 (49:59):
JD says they he needed a big opening scene to
fully establish it's not the same DC Universe movie universe. Yes,
exactly like it was perfect. And then again, there's not
much talking in this trailer. It's all quick shots. You
get some action, you get them saving a little girl,
you get them fighting a giant dragon like creature les
(50:19):
with a gun. You see a metamorpho a close up
of them. That's it. Mister Terrific saving Lois Lane. In
some kind of fight in the desert. You see a
little kid with a yellow flag Superman flag, saying save
as Superman. That's the only other person that talks in
the trailer. I'm curious. There's I'm sure there's some kind
of far off conflict another country story in this movie
(50:42):
that he gets involved with, and I'm sure there's some
kind of importance to the story. Well, we don't know
the story for this other than it was, and that.
Speaker 3 (50:51):
Makes it a good trailer because you don't know the story.
The only thing is it was a Yeah, it's not
even a trailer, it's a teaser, right, so a good teaser,
very little time. We got some cool scenes. We have
no idea what's going on.
Speaker 2 (51:05):
The only thing we know for sure is that Lex
and Superman are aware of each other, but they haven't
met yet. So this is the first story where they
confront each other. And we know that Lois and Superman
have a relationship. We don't know if she knows his
secret yet. I'm gonna assume he does, she does, or
she finds out in the film.
Speaker 3 (51:27):
You know, don does this put you off wanting to
watch the movie or or are you just how do
you feel?
Speaker 2 (51:36):
No?
Speaker 4 (51:36):
I want to watch the movie absolutely quiet too write that,
and I guess when it comes to like content anime
or whatnot, like power is my porn and Superman is
like the pinnacle of superhero power. So I always always
going to watch a superhero movie or show to see
some cool shit.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
So I'm I'm for it. I'm glad.
Speaker 4 (51:58):
I'm glad it's a lighter Superman because I don't like
I'm okay with the Snyder vert, but I do recognize
it is a darker Superman. I don't respect the music
choice as much. Don't get me wrong. As a Star
Wars fan, I my blood gets pumping by mister John Williams.
But I don't know if I I'm like, they're going
to use the exact same Now you said that it
(52:21):
is actually a rendition or that they changed it or
just borrowed from it. So maybe I walk back a
little bit more from this, But I don't understand why
they needed to. I understand what they're doing. There's fan service,
and I actually do like fan service. It's the reason
that with the X Men theme, so I get that,
(52:43):
but I would just think they'd be a little bit
braver and not have to see we're back.
Speaker 2 (52:48):
We're back.
Speaker 4 (52:49):
But that's obviously a very big message of this whole
trailer is, Hey, remember that you hated what we're doing
one hundred and eighty degrees, so just make sure that
you were aware of that. So maybe I'm just feeling
they hit it too hard with that. I'm not sure.
But like I said, though, I'm power porn guy, so
I'm immediately thinking, who the hell just not Superman on
(53:10):
his ass?
Speaker 2 (53:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (53:11):
Don, we don't know, so great?
Speaker 2 (53:14):
Don Don dissing the John Williams Superman theme?
Speaker 6 (53:19):
No, remember asking you a goddamn thing.
Speaker 3 (53:22):
He's not dissing it, he's but I get where he's
coming from. Unfortunately, I'm not disagreeing with Don. I understand
the need that we can move on. Maybe somebody else
could give a try. We've had other people come up
to Superman themes is specifically the one for the Superman
Animated show.
Speaker 2 (53:37):
But as long as it's not Hans Zimmer right there, John.
Speaker 3 (53:42):
Quite so, yes, I believe that you have hit the
nail on the head and that being Hans Zimmer and
the hammer being wielded by me.
Speaker 2 (53:49):
So anyway, now, the biggest criticism from this trailer and
it's coming from one particular camp, which we're going to
get to in a second. Is the look of Guy
Gardner and the trailer.
Speaker 3 (54:01):
Yeah, everybody, here's the fact that it's not a complete bowl.
Speaker 2 (54:05):
Gun But here is my opinion on that. And I'm serious.
You're not supposed to like Guy Gardner, and Gunn is
a good visual storyteller. And I do believe that's part
of it, because I can't think of the actor's name
the playing Guy Gardner. Anyway. He's a handsome guy. He's
not unattractive, but the idea is Nathan Fillian, but make
(54:26):
him unattractive, and that's part of not liking him, Like
they're doing everything in your power to make sure you
do not like Guy Gardner. I think it's being done
on purpose, Like he looks silly on purpose. I don't
know what do you guys think.
Speaker 3 (54:41):
His personality was on the prickly side? Yeah, oh stop
don alone.
Speaker 2 (54:47):
In fact, fact, at Man punched him out right like
in the comics, because nobody.
Speaker 4 (54:55):
Like, yeah, yeah, I thought John Cena should have played
Guy Gardner.
Speaker 2 (55:00):
But that's just me.
Speaker 4 (55:01):
It's funny though that the look of a ginger guy
with a bull cut is so important to people. I
would have just never get that at all. But serious
on serious side of things, though, I was very surprised
at how the universe in your face, hawk girl, here's
a green lantern. I was like, oh, okay, we are
like hitting the ground running, yeah and duck and cover bullshit.
Speaker 2 (55:26):
That makes me nervous.
Speaker 4 (55:27):
Yeah, that makes you nervous because don't you think we're
over the superhero origin age?
Speaker 2 (55:32):
Now?
Speaker 3 (55:32):
Is that really what I am? Yeah, I'm not.
Speaker 2 (55:36):
Yeah, I am over the origin stories. We don't need
a twenty origin stories before we get to a team up.
But I don't like throwing all these characters in. I
don't want it to take away from Superman story. And
I'm hoping they're just cameos. Like they're just quick cameos.
It's not like there's a Justice League or Justice Society
story underneath all of it. I wanted to just be
(55:58):
a Superman story. And that's why I'm like a little
nervous because gun is really good at telling team stories,
and that's I haven't seen many solo hero stories that
he's done. So that's why I'm a little nervous.
Speaker 4 (56:11):
I see, I guess I'm not nervous because I think
it's easy to write.
Speaker 2 (56:14):
I'm a non writer.
Speaker 4 (56:15):
But anyway, because they could introduce all these godly powerful
heroes and in the end, what do they need to do?
They need Superman, I don't know. He could drive that
point home and needs bands here to save not just
a little guy, but yeah, even the superhumans or metahumans.
Speaker 3 (56:32):
That that was the point I wanted to make about
this that some people in my family asked me when
the trailer came out, is that the difference between this
and like Spider Man three, where the studio tried to
put too many villains in and all that, and I
had people tell me they're worried, Well, there's too many
characters in this, what are they going to do? It's
like the difference is that in Spider Man three, again
(56:53):
the studios force sped all the They tried to pack
all this line into this with the origin of these
villains and have them all interact and everything, and you
just basically turning it into a spaghetti mess of a storyline.
In this, we're being introduced into a living, breathing universe
where they're already heroes and everything, and so Superman is basically,
(57:17):
I'm assuming Superman is basically going to be our character
that brings us into this. He'll be the one saying, oh,
who are you and introducing all these people, but having
to interact with them because everything's already in motion. I
think it's going it's gonna this will work where something
where you know, they try to pack too many people
into something, like they did with Craven is, I think
(57:40):
this will work better.
Speaker 2 (57:41):
I also think along those lines to the big difference
is the Sony studio exects say people like Venom, so
put Venom in your movie. This is the guy who
is the studio. James Gunn also loves these characters and
wants to tell a good story. So he's not going
to use a car unless he feels it fits in
the store, you know. So the runtime for Superman is
(58:05):
four point five hours. Gun the gun, Get the gun cut.
I don't think it's four and a half hours.
Speaker 4 (58:13):
But we'll see people watched Lord of the Rings extended cuts.
Speaker 2 (58:17):
Let's tee the gun cut.
Speaker 3 (58:19):
Yeah. Hey, even the Snyder cut was good.
Speaker 2 (58:21):
Speaking of the Snyder cut, it was better. There is
a side of this that we need to talk about,
and there's a story that kind of ties the whole
thing into a bow. But there are toxic Snyder fans
out there big time. There are groups. There is a
group on Facebook called the DCEU Snyder Verse and I
(58:43):
joined it just to see and there are people and
I posted something on my social media about this. There
are people who are basically saying we should group together
and review bomb this movie so that it fails and
you know, make sure no one goes to see it.
And they're like they're actively putting campaigns together to make
sure this Superman movie fails because they still think that
(59:05):
the Snyder Verse is gonna come back somehow, and.
Speaker 3 (59:09):
Most of them aren't bots.
Speaker 2 (59:11):
That's the thing that that And here's the other side
of that too. And you saying that is poignant because
we talked about over a year ago on this podcast,
maybe two years ago, that the released the Snyder cut
hashtag on Twitter that was so prevalent and is actually
what got them to put it on HBO Max. Was
(59:32):
all fueled by bots, or mostly fueled by bots, to
make it look like more people wanted it than actually did.
And because of that, these people are so diluted. They
think that the Snyder Verse was a success, but the
last few movies lost so much money. It was a
huge The whole thing was a huge failure for Warner Brothers.
(59:55):
They lost so much money on the Snyder Verse it's
not even funny. But if you go in these groups,
they act like it was this huge success and they
should keep doing it. And I'm like, why do you
people so diluted? This is weird. I don't know. I
have you guys has seen any of this stuff online
of these people who are like the gun Verse should
(01:00:16):
fail and they should bring.
Speaker 4 (01:00:17):
Back Zack Snyder. Oh yeah, I've seen that. The Internet
is just just a big Petrie dish of muck and scum,
And if you just want a virus to grow, you
just drop it in there a little bit and it'll happen.
It's just it's sadly. One of the back draws of
the Internet is you can make these movements out of bots,
out of even forget bots. You could just Hey, everybody
(01:00:40):
in the world that's bitter about this, gather around. Absolutely,
We're it's the Internet.
Speaker 1 (01:00:45):
We can do that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
Let's let's shit never win. Cereal.
Speaker 4 (01:00:48):
You know, it happened to It happened to the Acolyte.
Obviously they are real people that don't like the Acolyte,
but I definitely think that as far as like it's
rotten tomato score and shit like how abysmal that got. Yeah,
it's just very easy to have concentrated campaigns like this
(01:01:08):
on the Internet, and yet and they've fooled people into
spending a lot of money, and yeah, that'd be weary.
Speaker 3 (01:01:17):
Okay, I think no, I think we hit this one hard.
Speaker 2 (01:01:20):
And the last thing that came out this week that
kind of puts a bow in my mind. But there
are people that are still If you go into any
of these groups, you'll see them. Look for anything that
says DCEU or Snyder Verse on Facebook joined the group
and just watch the post. But another story that came
out is officially we have a Lobo for the DCU
(01:01:41):
and that's Jason Momoa, which, okay, let me just say
I'd about to say right off the bat that casting
makes way more sense than Aquaman for Jason. Don you
feel like you look like you want to say something poignant, Well, I.
Speaker 4 (01:01:58):
Just will what we us talked about, I think can.
I don't think this is as great as an idea
as the Internet is making it seem to be I
get it. Jason Momoa looks like Lobo.
Speaker 2 (01:02:11):
I get it.
Speaker 4 (01:02:11):
I'm there with you, okay, but no one really cares
about Lobo.
Speaker 2 (01:02:16):
I'm no, no, But he also is a dude bro
type character, and that's Jason Momoa to a t Aquaman
is not a dude bro.
Speaker 8 (01:02:25):
That's why it made No, it wasn't supposed to be. Yeah,
this could be a Ryan Reynolds Deadpool thing. Okay, I'm
open minded. I'm just I feel this happened with Moonnight.
Everybody on the internet, Oh, I want a Moon Night.
They come out with the Moon Night series and hardly
anyone cares. Just like we're talking about with these small
contingitive people that inside this B level character needs a
(01:02:49):
show or movie.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
Moon Night should have been a Moonnight should have been
a two hour special on Disney Plus, not a full season.
It didn't work as a full.
Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
Sit I actually liked Night That it was good.
Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
I love it, just like it, But what did it do?
What might be? It's so disconnected from the rest of
the MCU as well. There is nothing that tied Moon
Night into anything. And it's okay. Well, I watched the
episodes of a character that you're not going to use again.
But if they had done a two hour special, I
think more people would have wanted, more people would have
(01:03:22):
liked it, and then they could have used him in
something else. So that's Atlanta. Yeah, yeah, yeah, does it sucks? Frosty, Frosty,
I don't.
Speaker 6 (01:03:36):
Remember asking you a goddamn thing.
Speaker 3 (01:03:40):
I think we've hit our quota for using that for
one show.
Speaker 2 (01:03:44):
Either. The name of this episode is I don't remember
asking you a goddamn saying, or ship in your cereal,
take your pick. All right. The last little bit of
news is did you all watch the trailer? You said?
You mentioned it already John for Friendly Neighborhood Spider Man.
What do we all think? John? What did you think
of it?
Speaker 3 (01:04:04):
I think it looks interesting. I'm all, being as old
and decrepit as I am. I have seen many different
versions of Spider Man, including ones where there was only
like basically three three frames per second back in the
seventy You know what I'm talking about. Yeah, it's all
they're updating him again with a little bit of slang
(01:04:27):
that I've heard my nephews use. And actually I think
they're still behind by about three generations on the slide.
But we'll see. It looks interesting the animation. I think
this is the kind of animation that Don wasn't appreciative of.
Speaker 2 (01:04:43):
No, jd Oh is it JD?
Speaker 3 (01:04:45):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
Yeah, yeah, so I will see.
Speaker 3 (01:04:49):
I'll give it a go. They've been mostly good when
they've done Spider Man series.
Speaker 2 (01:04:53):
Don did you like it? Are you interested?
Speaker 4 (01:04:56):
I'm sorry, David spider Man, So I'm just I'm not
that interested. I know that's your favorite. When I grew up,
it was Spider Man and Amazing Friends, but then here
come the X Men, and I've just always gravitated Spider Man.
Is just so I like Venom, like I actually like
Venom because he's the anti Spider Man. But anyway, with
that said, with that said, no, they're to give him
(01:05:18):
spider Man some riz so the kids don't think he's
mid good by what the sigma? This is what I
hear anymore. But but with the popularity Boles Morales the
Spider Verse, it makes sense that they'd maybe want to
try and jazz up and get Peter Parker out there
while it's popular and see what they can get going
with him too. So am I interested?
Speaker 2 (01:05:41):
No? But doesn't make sense, and we'll probably be good
and popular. I it's here's the thing, right, here's the
when you're the flagship character of a whole company.
Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
Me.
Speaker 2 (01:05:54):
Yeah, by the way, your your story is going to
be retold over and over. So this is a new
origin story. And I feel like what they did is
they went, let's take aspects from the MCU, aspects from
different cartoons, different comics, and throw them all together. I
don't feel there's anything original other than the fact that, Okay,
(01:06:16):
now he gets to suit Osbourne. I was about to say,
Harry Norman Osbourne, who obviously has some kind of dark
plan behind him. I'm gonna guess everything that we saw
in the trailers, like the first three episodes. So by
the end of the third episode, he's got that white suit,
the new Spider Man suit that has all of these
like capabilities, like the suit that Tony gave him. But
(01:06:39):
now it was given to him that by somebody who's evil.
So he's tracking what Spider Man can do.
Speaker 3 (01:06:45):
I don't know we're gonna get that Sinister six or
where else Sony is my.
Speaker 2 (01:06:51):
Son actually came up with a really good theory. Is
that So if you've played the Spider Man games on
the PlayStation in that the story is Harry has this
disease and they come up with the basically the Venom
symbiote to cure them from this disease, and that's the
(01:07:11):
Spider Man to storyline basically, and that's how Venom comes
into the world. He's not an alien, he's this creation
by Oscarp. He thinks they're going to do the same
thing that Harry's sick because you don't see him in
the trailer. Harry's sick and he Norman finds out Peter
is Spider Man and gives him this suit so he
can track all his vitals and use that to create
(01:07:33):
quote unquote the Venom suit that to save Harry, and
then season with Harry Harry is Venom versus Spider Man.
Like the video game. It's not a bad it's not
a bad theory. We'll see. I don't know. The only
thing I've seen negative where people complain about the race
swapping of the Osbourne's but it's come on, people, this is.
Speaker 4 (01:07:56):
That's really got to stop not swapping the complaining rightly exactly.
I'm sorry, Yeah, yeah, sir, I'll be forty five and
six months. Yeah, us old head speaking of my age,
and it's hard for me to do this, but I
think I'm matured to the point and understand the value
and just understand matured on this podcast made a that's
(01:08:19):
what she said joke and find these characters are gonna
change and be an amalgamation of what we originally knew
them to be. And it has to be that one
or they're gonna die. They have to go after the kids.
Speaker 2 (01:08:35):
Guys.
Speaker 4 (01:08:36):
It can't just say, as I heard Dave explain how
Venom comes about. I'm like, oh, it's really okay. I'm
not really interested in this. If you pick up the
book and you like what you read, awesome. So as
long as they make a good story, interesting story that
you want to keep reading or keep seeing, that's what's
really important, and that's what we want our beloved comic
(01:08:58):
properties to do or to live on. I know I'm
bitching about phase boor jive and sucks and all that, really,
but really, when i'm intionable mode, which you know is
not the mode I'm in when I'm on a podcast,
it really is cool that, like all the superhero shit
is just here to stay and we're still getting that
superhero shit. It really is cool when compared to what
(01:09:22):
they just the eighties and nineties were for me. We're
just maybe a little bit sprinkled here there. So with
that you said, listen, the old books, the old artwork,
and the costumes that you like, they're still there. You
can go back and read all those books. So just
let it be, let it breathe, and be positive about it.
A podcast to.
Speaker 2 (01:09:43):
Answer your question, who's producing the Spider Man cartoon Disney
or Sony? It is Disney. Yeah, they still own the
rights for the cartoons. Yeah, it's just the movies. And
because Sony happens to own a video game platform, they
own the rights for the video games right now. But
they are killing it. If you've played, if you've played
the three games spider Man, Miles Morales and Spider Man two,
(01:10:06):
they're awesome games. They really are.
Speaker 3 (01:10:08):
Like they were contenders for Game of the Year too,
A love with balder s K three and a few.
Speaker 2 (01:10:13):
Yeah, they haven't made a bad Spider Man game in
thirty years now. I think the first one based on
the first movie was horrible because you can't go down
to the street the whole game. You Yeah, but.
Speaker 4 (01:10:25):
Still I know what you're saying, but still I'm like, oh,
fucking Spider Man, you're swinging this is cool. At the
time it came out, it wasn't.
Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
Cassan. Why do you accept change for Spider Man but
not Superman? Hold hold hold.
Speaker 3 (01:10:39):
Bitten tonight hot damn he said.
Speaker 2 (01:10:43):
I say. The changes for Superman in the Snyder Verse
are changes to his character, not to his origin. They
could change his origin all they want, but as long
as he is a beacon of hope for humanity at
the end of the day, that is Superman Peter Parker.
As long as he learns the lesson with great powers,
great responsibility because his uncle is killed, that is all
(01:11:05):
you need. He like. If they change that, then they're
changing whose Spider Man is. That's what I would have
an issue with. They can change race, swap any character.
I don't care. They can a weird thing where he
gets a suit from Norman. But as long as the
reason he's Spider Man is because of the responsibility, He's
still Spider Man. That's it. End of discussion. Don't change
(01:11:28):
the core of who the character is. They did that
in the Snyder Verse. He let his father die. That's
all you need to know, and his father said he
should let those kids in the school bus die. That's
all you need to know. That was not Superman. So
that was someone the same powers, in the same name,
but that was not Superman. That was exactly all right,
(01:11:49):
you know what. That's all the news. We will take
a quick, really quick commercial break and come back with
I Look Back on twenty twenty four.
Speaker 4 (01:12:01):
Some podcasts are like this.
Speaker 2 (01:12:03):
I don't wash hands.
Speaker 8 (01:12:04):
I don't really trust people that wash their hands because
one I don't think it does anything.
Speaker 2 (01:12:08):
And some podcasts I like this, and let's be honest,
I'm starting to think it's a scam because I have
a very painful sunburn. They have no sunblock in the
seventeen eighteen. Oh just be it. Nobody's trying to skin cancer,
So what's giving me cancer?
Speaker 3 (01:12:21):
But only one podcast is where you can get in
depth analysis like this.
Speaker 9 (01:12:26):
So my Max is like searching through these fake photos
of his old fight for the murder memories and we
get another flashback and.
Speaker 3 (01:12:33):
It's fucking it's the same.
Speaker 2 (01:12:36):
It's the same flashback.
Speaker 1 (01:12:37):
Fucking nothing has changed, no information, adage.
Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
Cave in, skull head explosion.
Speaker 6 (01:12:43):
Nothing about this flashback gives us.
Speaker 2 (01:12:45):
Anything new, rings, grab a rope. Nothing about this is important.
Why are you showing that? Why are you wasting my
time showing this.
Speaker 3 (01:12:56):
Fucking flashback that I've already seen? Was there a quote
to show David Kearny's face?
Speaker 2 (01:13:01):
Like eighty five times? It had to have been.
Speaker 1 (01:13:05):
You.
Speaker 3 (01:13:08):
This has beat them down and I'm random rendy seven.
Speaker 9 (01:13:10):

Colde forty five the only podcast that puts hair on
your chest?
Speaker 2 (01:13:34):
Do you guys wash your hands? I don't know if
I can trust you. I needed to freshen my drink.
That's why we took a commercial break. All right, it
is the beginning of twenty twenty five, but as we
like to do with this podcast, we like to look
back on twenty twenty four and we will talk a
little bit about some things. Let's start with movies. Of course,
we all watched a lot of movies Limb Pickings, Slash Year,
(01:13:57):
and I think we'll start with our favorite and then
we'll say what we think was the worst. So let's
go around the room. What was your favorite movie of
twenty twenty four? And John, you can go first.
Speaker 3 (01:14:11):
I really don't have a favorite. I just have a
bunch of runner ups. Wow, and I just I really
at the top, I probably put Ghostbusters, Frozen, Empire, oh my.
Speaker 2 (01:14:21):
God, man came out in twenty twenty four, Go ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:14:24):
Yeah, And then the other distant runner ups are Beekeeper
and Transformers one. Beekeeper because just it was just a
fun stay the movie with him beating up bad guys,
and Transformers one because it was a really big surprise
to me that it was actually as good as it
was and actually made me care about the characters, even
though nobody really asked for a origin story for Optimus Prime,
(01:14:48):
and it just it's just yeah, it's sorry. My brain
has been fried. I'm not running all of sleep right now.
So anyway, yeah, I don't have a real favorite. There
is an the one that would try to take the
Crown from How to Train Your Dragon, which is one
of my favorites of all time. So yeah, that's for me.
Speaker 2 (01:15:07):
Man, Okay, it's obviously none other than Deadpool and Wolverine.
Is that.
Speaker 8 (01:15:14):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
Although that certainly helps it.
Speaker 4 (01:15:17):
But although one of my complaints of that movie is
it did not feature Colossus enough, and it had Wolverine
and Colossus in the same room and it didn't even talk.
But nonetheless it's still a great movie, one where we
get to see a version of Wolverine that we've been
wanting to see on the big screen since the turn
of the millennia. Finally we get to see him in
(01:15:39):
the comic accurate They even put the cowl on him.
Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
It was just great.
Speaker 3 (01:15:44):
There's a tiny one right comic actae.
Speaker 4 (01:15:48):
And they even did the Of course, the fact that
Hugh Jackman played and which I didn't appreciate this part
of the movie is where he like it was like
gratuitous Hugh Jackman six pack and chest, and my wife
is like said multiple times, Hugh Jackman's hot, and I'm
just like.
Speaker 3 (01:16:04):
Oh, I wonder why you didn't appreciate that.
Speaker 4 (01:16:11):
But outside of that, though, I really liked Hugh Jackman's performances.
To me, a more comic accurate Wolverine. I thought his
gruffness just shut the fuck up. That's just I don't know,
that's just That's exactly what Logan would say to Deadpool
in their Adventures.
Speaker 2 (01:16:26):
Ryan Reynolds funny as always.
Speaker 4 (01:16:29):
It's not my favorite Deadpool, but the movie's to twenty
twenty four and it didn't get any better for.
Speaker 2 (01:16:34):
Me, all right, I have to to second your choice there.
It's with Ryan Reynolds and Harold and the Purple crayon
is the Oh definitely for me, of course, it's Deadpool Wolverine.
Ryan is the definitive Deadpool. Youugh, Jackman is the definitive Wolverine.
You're right, it's a more comic, accurate Wolverine in this movie.
(01:16:57):
He's grumpy. We got the short wolver and we got
the Don Byrne costume. We got the cow on the
yellow and black. We got it. An awesome villain in
Cassandra Nova. Unfortunately it feels like they went off her.
But so good. Yeah, I can't disagree with it. Runner
up for me, And if you guys want to add
(01:17:18):
runner up, well you did already, John Wicked. I was
so ready to hate the movie because I do not
like Ariana Grande. Sorry uh for fans of hers, but
it's such a good movie. If you love the musical,
and they did a great job with it.
Speaker 3 (01:17:37):
I'll tell you one of the only reason I didn't
add Sonic three as one of my runnervers because I
haven't seen it, but I'm yet I.
Speaker 2 (01:17:45):
Will add that to make me care about Doctor Robotnik. Yeah,
I've heard it was that good.
Speaker 3 (01:17:50):
That would have been on my list.
Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
Hear you, Sega, you made me care about Doctor robot
It's it was good. My son loved it. He's a
huge Sonic fan from when he was a hid And yeah,
it was good. It was really well done. Jim Carrey
is a treasure. That's all I can say.
Speaker 4 (01:18:06):
I'm so friggin surprise. And in twenty twenty five, Sonic
the Hedgehog is a very successful movie franchise.
Speaker 3 (01:18:16):
I know that they're killing a video game that one
of the best video game adaptations ever made. The whole
song like three movies and none of them are a
real stinker, and two of them, I think, the first,
in the in the third are really good.
Speaker 2 (01:18:30):
Oh how did he do? Thatsan? Because I don't like
because I don't like Ari, but I and she is, like,
she's a great she's a good singer, she's a great actress,
but she's a horrible human being. I'm sorry. If you
know anything about the news stories, and things that she's
(01:18:53):
done in her personal life. She is not a good person.
Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
Oh oh no, Caissan, don't put her. Oh no no,
we're not touched the Swifties, So Dave you need to
play that.
Speaker 2 (01:19:02):
We don't. Hey, hey, hey, when it comes to saying
anything negative about a swiftye, what do you do? We
don't do that yet.
Speaker 3 (01:19:11):
Yeah, Taylor Swift is great and that's all I'm ever
gonna say.
Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
That's all we're gonna say.
Speaker 3 (01:19:15):
That's my sister, my sister in law, and I'm sure
several of my friends would kill me if I said
anything against Taylor Swift.
Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
And she's the most popular pop artist on the planet.
She can do whatever she wants, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:19:31):
I will add a runner up, although it's already been mentioned.
Transformers One Cleaning my runner up. And it's one of
those things where it's like a beloved property of mine
and it's really bringing it into the new age. My
children like it. It's the actually reason my kids get
the cuss because they're always like a bad astron and
I'm like, ah, that's funny.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
I can't I'm not gonna hate on that. So I
forgot about that tron. There are there are many options
for the next category, many options from twenty twenty four.
I'm sorry, but there are, and a feeling we might
agree on this one. I don't know. We'll see, we'll see.
What was the absolute worst piece of garbage that we
(01:20:17):
watched at twenty twenty four movie?
Speaker 3 (01:20:20):
We're still that's still not filtering it down.
Speaker 2 (01:20:23):
Gotta be more at this time. Don you can go first?
What was the worst movie to you of twenty twenty four?
Speaker 4 (01:20:31):
Yeah, The Crow twenty twenty four by Okay, I am
still absolutely fucking disgusted by that thing exist and I yeah,
I'm not gonna see say in a movie it's already
often to obscurity.
Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
I actually went into it because.
Speaker 4 (01:20:47):
It was like a date movie with my wife, and
so I wanted to have an open mind, and I
am a Crow fan and okay, and still severely disappointing.
I was ready to forgive the fuck boy appearance of
the Crow, but they just went to the nth degree
as far as what is what.
Speaker 2 (01:21:03):
The story of the Crow? What's the lord that stuff
with the Crow? Okay, we're going to do the opposite
trashy horrible, Yeah, exactly horrible, All right, John.
Speaker 3 (01:21:13):
I I fully agree with Don, I had I have
The Crow as my first and my runner up was
Madam Webb.
Speaker 2 (01:21:22):
Yeah, yeah, trying to poke at me. Oh, I just
win the podcast tonight for that one.
Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
For everything Don said and more the Crow deserves. And again,
this is the movies I've seen, But yeah, I highly
doubt I'd see if I had seen a lot more
movies that they would have been able to knock off
The Crow.
Speaker 2 (01:21:49):
I'm in the same exact boat as Don as well.
Like we my girlfriend and I went to this movie
as a date because she wanted to see it because
she loved the original as well. It's just like, yeah,
they went, what's the story A screw that, Let's use
the same character names and we'll do whatever we want.
And yeah, that's like, how do you piss off fans?
(01:22:11):
This is how you do it.
Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
My friend and his son, this is the first movie
they ever both walked out of halfway through.
Speaker 2 (01:22:17):
We came close. We came really close to walking out
of that movie because it was so bad and it's
and you're supposed to believe these characters were so in
love after meeting for and we're together for a few
years doing drugs. There was nothing sure about their love.
It's so foul. It really is a person just in general,
(01:22:39):
they both. Son says, thankfully, because of this podcast, I dodged,
Madam Webb. You're welcome.
Speaker 3 (01:22:48):
It's two hours of your life that you did not know.
Speaker 2 (01:22:51):
It is available for free on Netflix. Go check it out,
but make sure you're high wire watching it. All right?
Let ask me move on to our next category. Yes, John,
you said something earlier. We shouldn't call it a TV show.
We'll call it favorite streaming thing. Favorite. I've watched restural
(01:23:13):
TV and in two years other than no, wait, because
it's gonna be my recommendations because I didn't even realize
the show was still one, and I don't even watch
on Trustful TV. I've been watching it on YouTube, which
is we'll talk about that later. But I'm all over
the place, too much wrong, all right, Favorite TV show, streaming,
regular TV whatever of twenty twenty four, John, you can go.
Speaker 3 (01:23:38):
First, favorite, Okay, you know me. I do the anime
stuff too. So my favorite streaming show was High Potential,
which is on Disney Plus if you or Hulu if
you don't have Disney Plus. And it's the story of
a woman who just has a humongous IQ. And she
(01:23:58):
works as a cleaner in a in a police department
and one day she sees that one of them. She
works at night, and she comes in one day and
cleaning and sees their crime. They've got the board with
trying to figure out what happened during a crime. She
just glances at it, sees that it's wrong, fixes it,
and the next day they're like, who the hell did this?
And they find her and hire her, and then then
(01:24:21):
it's basically like Monk if they dating myself. It's a
lot like Monk, a little bit less of the social
anxiety that would usually transfer to me because of my
social anxiety, a lot more fun and and the actress,
and this is just one so it's a fun show.
Speaker 2 (01:24:39):
I recently started rewatching Monk, actually, but maybe I'll watch this.
Speaker 3 (01:24:43):
Monk was great. Yeah, So the only other thing for
the anime side would be Spice and Wolf Merchant meets
the Wise Wolf, which is a read. They redid Spice
and Wolf from a while ago, a couple of you,
I forget how many years, but they did a bang
up job of it and it is a beautiful story.
So that there you go.
Speaker 2 (01:25:06):
I believe that this next pick will be the most
controversial pick of the night. I could be wrong, but
god go ahead. What was your favorite TV show of
twenty twenty four? The Akolite?
Speaker 4 (01:25:19):
Okay, fair enough, Okay, great show, wonderful acting, added a
lot of stuff to the Star Wars lore. All of
that stuff is true, but it's actually not my pick'n
was absolutely an amazing show, a show that made my
wife interested in it, which I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:25:37):
Where like I do, so I guess it does mean thing.
Speaker 4 (01:25:40):
But still it won a lot of Emmy Awards. Just
amazing acting. It's so good that, even though there's no
actual story to support it, they're going to do a
season two.
Speaker 2 (01:25:51):
It's just which I'm looking forward to. So there you go. Showgun. No,
it's not a superhero show, but definitely definitely the best
show of the year.
Speaker 3 (01:25:59):
Two things. One Caissan, Blue Eye, Samurai, I get it,
But Spice Wolf the second thing done. I just put
that Showgun on my list because of you. I'll check
it out too.
Speaker 2 (01:26:09):
Oh yeah, you'll like that for sure, I think. So
here's the thing. I was actually going to say Skeleton
Crew because I really am enjoying the show, but it's
not ending. It started in twenty twenty four, but it
ends in twenty twenty five. I want to be fair,
he gets screwed next year because you don't remember it.
But yeah, this might be a yeah, and this might
(01:26:31):
be a slightly controversial pick. I don't care, because I
did enjoy the show, even though it ended a little weird.
And that's of course Agatha all along because Wickan is
now in the MCU and I'm excited to see what
to do with the character. Catherine Hahn is an amazing actress.
He's done a great job in it, and I really
enjoyed it. And it's funny because I will say this too.
(01:26:53):
I think one of the things that helps is Karen's
one son really loves this character. She he loves Scarlett Witch,
and he loves Agatha. He was so excited about the show,
and I would like I would watch it and then
call my girlfriend, not to talk to my girlfriend about it,
but like I would watch it when it came out
(01:27:14):
that day, and then like I call my girlfriend every
night and we talked to the phone and he would
burst in and be like, did you watch it? While
I'm on the phone with her, And like I'm on
speaker with her and she's like, He's like, did you
watch it? What did you think? Oh? I want to
talk about And it was just like that builds your
excitement because there's someone else like super excited about it
and they're talking to you about it. So yeah, I'm
(01:27:35):
gonna stick with Agatha for this, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:27:37):
I would have put that one on too, because I
really enjoyed that too, And.
Speaker 2 (01:27:41):
But Skarlton's crew definitely gets a honorable mention. Hopefully they
stick the landing. We shall find out this week, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:27:49):
And to be perfectly fair, high potential started last year.
There's still they were going to yeh at the beginning
of this year, starting to leave today.
Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
Actually yeah, all right, now comes the fun least favorite
streaming or TV show of twenty twenty four and before
we upset, don you can go first.
Speaker 4 (01:28:13):
Okay, I've actually got to kind of close ones here,
so I'm gonna give my actual pick being House of
the Dragon season two.
Speaker 2 (01:28:21):
Yeah, not that it was horrible, it wasn't there.
Speaker 4 (01:28:25):
There was actually a lot about the season I enjoyed,
but they really didn't stick the land Like I yet
to see the finale of that seat I saw. I've
seen every other episode, but I just really don't feel
the need to see the finale, and I've even read
about it, and from my understand as I thought, there's
nothing that happens. So because of that, it's my worst
of twenty twenty four. Right, didn't you watch the finale
(01:28:48):
of that season because it had already petered out from
So there we go.
Speaker 2 (01:28:51):
Runner up.
Speaker 4 (01:28:52):
Runner up for me is The Bear. I'm not sure
if you guys seen that. It's not a superhero thing.
It's about a in a restaurant, and I was.
Speaker 2 (01:29:01):
Really enjoying it.
Speaker 4 (01:29:03):
I think it's actually a show that you guys might
like because it spends a lot of time on characters.
It'll straight it's on FX or whatever. It's about a guy, yeah, yeah,
but they will straight stop the story and spend a
whole episode on just giving you backstory on a character.
Speaker 2 (01:29:19):
But I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:29:19):
I just find the main character. I don't know, he's
just he's too. I don't know if he's too I
don't know how to describe it. He's two in his
head and I'm having a hard time standing behind him
and enjoying it. So maybe I should enjoy the other characters.
Speaker 2 (01:29:32):
I don't know, but so quick before John answers, I forgot,
so Casan says worst he says Acolyte, Asaka and obi Wan,
I forgot. They all came out this year. This was
a year of Star Wars shows, wasn't it? One was
to carry over for twenty twenty three. Okay, but I
(01:29:54):
don't agree with that, Son, I'm sorry. Yeah. Other than
the Accolyte, I enjoyed everything Star Worst put out this year.
Speaker 4 (01:30:03):
Loved obi Wan and Ahsoka, Yeah, Exaca White, But I loved.
Speaker 2 (01:30:10):
So much for the future of Star Wars too, because
we know that's what leads into the movies.
Speaker 4 (01:30:15):
That are coming out, and yeah, come on, and then
introducing that Balin school character. And I know unfortunately actors
passed away, but they need to recast because of me.
By the way, you need to recast me for that character.
That's why you did that, Don, That's right. I want
to get that out there. So, yeah, I don't know.
Soka and obi Wan.
Speaker 2 (01:30:33):
Was all right, John, what's your worst show of twenty
four You're gonna make Don cry.
Speaker 3 (01:30:41):
If you if you search Google for a worst streaming show.
Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
I mean, it comes up. What comes the first? John,
come on, tell us.
Speaker 3 (01:30:53):
Yeah, it's okay, done.
Speaker 2 (01:30:55):
I'll tell you what.
Speaker 3 (01:30:56):
We'll go with my the worst anime show, and that's
a Remonster. And I would assume, I would hope that
anybody listening to me right now will just forget that
Remonster ever exists, because that's the last time I'm gonna
mention the name, because it was that bad and you
shouldn't watch it ever period. Other than that, I don't know,
(01:31:16):
it could have been anything that was on my list.
Speaker 2 (01:31:20):
I just we just punted to you, Dave. Yeah, the Accolade.
And here's the thing I will say about the Accolade
in all honesty, is that, come on, don let's be honest.
I was rooting for it. I was trying when it
first started to be like, no, it's good. I like
(01:31:41):
what they're doing, it's different and blah blah. But this
fell apart in the last couple episodes. To me, it
was just like, no, this doesn't work. There's just these
the Jedis are just bad. And Yoda was in on
all of it, and it's no, you really stabs be
in the heart with that one. No, Yoba is a
(01:32:01):
good guy, Like he's got to stay a good guy.
I don't want him knowing about any of this crap.
But yeah, sorry, DoD. I to me it was probably
the worst show of twenty twenty four. I will also
put what you call it the show you mentioned the
Game of Thrones show. Oh, right, house a dragon, house
a dragon, Yeah like that that. I don't know why
(01:32:22):
they made those.
Speaker 3 (01:32:23):
I heard that first season of that was good, and
I guess this is good.
Speaker 4 (01:32:27):
It's hard to describe because it really does start pretty good.
I find it actually somewhat superior to Game of Thrones
because it's like in Game of Thrones, like you barely
saw the dragons.
Speaker 2 (01:32:39):
Maybe toward the.
Speaker 4 (01:32:40):
End you really saw some awesome Yeah. This show like yeah,
dragon shit all around, and it's cool. I just I
felt that this season really dropped off, like you think
of the penultimate episode should not make you bored of
Here's here's.
Speaker 2 (01:32:57):
The problem with shows like this. They obviously it's we
own HBO owns the rights to the property. George R.
Martin probably was like, I have no plans to ever
tell an origin story to any of the any of
the families or anything. You just know what to finish
the series. This does have plans, but I don't know,
(01:33:18):
but you know what I'm saying. He was like, do
whatever you want. These are This isn't George or Martin
writing this. He might comment here and there on the
scripts they write, but they're doing whatever they want, so
it's not going to be the same quality.
Speaker 3 (01:33:31):
Yeah, I'm nonetheless put Rings of Power season two because
I have not watched.
Speaker 2 (01:33:37):
I would like to. I bet you I like it.
So I didn't fight that fight this year. Prob a
man of fine culture.
Speaker 3 (01:33:46):
There are connotations to using it, to using the phrase
that you are a man of culture in anime.
Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
Yeah this is true. But yeah, it's good to.
Speaker 3 (01:33:56):
See some of these shows like fall off like that
because I feel like Rising the Shield Hero did that anime.
First season was awesome, then the second season just died.
Speaker 2 (01:34:06):
So was that? Twenty thron says Halo was the worst show?
Was that this year?
Speaker 4 (01:34:12):
That was there was Yeah, I didn't hate that one
as much as everybody, but it also fizzled out too.
Speaker 2 (01:34:19):
It isn't like part of the problem is with the game.
Nailed the visuals on that. They nailed the visually. But
here's the problem with a game with Halo. Master Chief
is always in a mask because they want you to
be able to picture yourself. You can be master Chief.
And the first thing they do in the show is
take his mask off. It's you just ruined the game
for me.
Speaker 4 (01:34:39):
A mask off, he's having sex, he's out of the
Majoler armor. Come on, these are things that just would
not happen.
Speaker 3 (01:34:45):
It's like that Santa doesn't exist. What the hell?
Speaker 4 (01:34:49):
What?
Speaker 3 (01:34:51):
Wait?
Speaker 2 (01:34:51):
What wait? What are you telling me here? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:34:53):
That I didn't see Halo, but now I don't want
to see it because of those things.
Speaker 2 (01:34:57):
Yeah, yeah, all right, we're not gonna We're only gonna
do it best. We won't do a worst because I
had an idea for this one. Best book that you
read doesn't have to be of the year, just that
you read in twenty twenty four. Don do you have
one for us? Yes and no. Like you said, I'm
gonna skirt with using your rule. This is X Men twelve.
Speaker 4 (01:35:20):
It did not come out this year, but I read
it this year because they got it from Calm New
York Comic Con. This is actually a thirty dollars comic
because of a special cover which I bought because glosses
and there you go.
Speaker 2 (01:35:30):
It's a kind of a cheap pick for me. There
you go, all right, John.
Speaker 3 (01:35:35):
Oh, I had good reads open. Okay, so first first one,
you're gonna laugh, but I don't care. There. So I've
been reading a lot of light novels lightly and one
of them was The Skeleton Knight in Another World and
it's a really easy, fun read with a really fun
character and yet a very surprisingly deep like world that
(01:35:58):
with a lot of politics and a lot of things
going on, and it just it generally. The main character
is a guy. It's a Nissa Kai. The main character
just pops up in a world that he had played
an mm RPG and or VRP and he's in his
character and it just goes from there. But it's the
(01:36:19):
personality of the main characters, like just laughing at danger
and say okay, I'll take you care of this, and
I don't know, it's I thought it was fun. There's
another series that it got back into that was hold
on a second, Come on, bring it up?
Speaker 2 (01:36:35):
There we go.
Speaker 3 (01:36:36):
Danika Dark is the author and the series is Keystone.
It's a well a Crossbead. It's called Crossbreed the series
and the first book is Keystone and that's it's another
book of that came out past year, and I read
that and the series hasn't disappointed yet. So it's that's
an urban fantasy series. If you want to get into that,
(01:36:57):
I would point to I would yeah, we get this here,
I would point to this, what's happened to me? I'm
getting through this book, but very slowly. It's a very
long slot. I might as well just be reading emberto Echo.
So anyway, there you go. That's it for me.
Speaker 2 (01:37:16):
I have two. The first one is we talked about
on the show. We actually got JD to come in
for that episode. It was a surprise to me was
absolute Batman because I actually, to be honest with you,
I went in thinking I was gonna hate the book
because I thought it was a weird take on Batman,
and I actually ended up really liking it, So yeah,
(01:37:39):
that was a great comic. The other one you didn't
mention there, John, and you're gonna highly upset a good
friend of the show. But Dirk Mannings Homestead came out
this year, and oh that's right. Yeah, sorry, Dirk, And
it's really well done. If you like if you like
(01:38:01):
horror and you like urban fantasy. It's Old West, but
it's still kind of Urban Fantasy. Check out whome'stead. Dirk
will appreciate us sending you over to go check that out.
Oh wait megalah Nerds. I we watched die Hard on
Christmas Eve. While we argued about it being Christmas movie,
(01:38:21):
it's absolutely a Christmas movie.
Speaker 3 (01:38:24):
Frosty finally watched Flight of the Navigator. That's a long
time in coming, but good choice.
Speaker 2 (01:38:29):
Yeah. I saw an interesting meme that die Hard is
actually a oh yeah, I see what because yeah, he
spent this whole time hiding, hiding from Alan or except
for a snape retro, Because that was the question that
that Cassan's asked, was like a retro? What's our favorite
(01:38:49):
retro movie that we watched this year? The only one
I can actually say that I will have a recollection
of watching was Beetlejuice because we watched that in preparation
for Beetle. Oh YEA yeah me too. Yeah, I think
it holds up. I love the movie. I always will.
It's timeless.
Speaker 3 (01:39:07):
I've got a retro movie to recommend if you don't mind,
go ahead, and I watched it. It's the last movie
I watched with my mother. It's called Max Dugan returns
and it's an old one. It's I think it's the
first movie with Matthew Broderck in it. It also had
Donald sutherin Jason Robard's key for Sutherland. Like a lot
(01:39:32):
of people that if you've been alive the last thirty years,
you've heard their names. It's a cadre of older actors now.
But it was written by Neil Simon, who was probably
one of the best comedy writers. And you'd have to say,
but yeah, it's a great movie.
Speaker 2 (01:39:49):
It really is.
Speaker 3 (01:39:50):
Yeah, it's so when did it come out. It was
nineteen eighty three, So yeah, if you want a fun
movie to watch, Max Dugan returns. It's in the style
old Broadway comedies where everybody's mistaken about what's going on
and hilarity ensues.
Speaker 2 (01:40:06):
Yeah. Yeah, because Max can return.
Speaker 3 (01:40:10):
It's a play on Shakespeare's Midnight Summer's Dream.
Speaker 2 (01:40:13):
Yep. Wow, all right, uh, mom might take off for
two weeks. We have a two hour show. Yeah, I know,
I know, all right. The last thing, this is an
easy one, I think do we have and this might
be a hard one for John? Actually, do we have
a favorite moment of twenty twenty four? John, do you
want to go first, Do you have a favorite moment
(01:40:34):
the whole year. It doesn't have to be related to
the comic books or podcast or anything. Just something that
happened to you in twenty twenty four that you loved.
Speaker 3 (01:40:43):
That's the last moment I spent with my mom. That's
all I can say. That's sorry, but that's all I
can think of at this point.
Speaker 2 (01:40:51):
No, I know, I know, man, I'm sorry. It's tough,
all right, don.
Speaker 3 (01:40:57):
Bringing you down?
Speaker 2 (01:40:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:40:59):
Sorry, Yeah, And then Dave puts me in an impossible
position because what I'm going to say is going to
be completely just plus compared to that.
Speaker 2 (01:41:10):
New York Comic Con.
Speaker 4 (01:41:12):
As we're walking across the floor there and I catch
in my eyes and my periphery, I see a Nightcrawler
Cyclops and an Emma Frost.
Speaker 2 (01:41:23):
That has that I very much enjoyed. And then.
Speaker 3 (01:41:30):
Yeah, you did nice.
Speaker 4 (01:41:32):
But overall, the going to Comic Con though, going to
New York even like just going through the adventure, like
riding the subway for the first time, and that was
just a really cool experience.
Speaker 2 (01:41:42):
Said no, thank you, of course, Dave, thank you for that.
So we make it work again.
Speaker 3 (01:41:47):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (01:41:48):
I've been to New York Comic Counts so many times.
It was like, eh, but going with you to the
nine eleven Memorial and just yeah, doing touristy things in
New York, John, I love you. You're my brother. We
never like did touristy things in New York.
Speaker 3 (01:42:04):
But Don, it was I was too busy dragging us
through security security.
Speaker 2 (01:42:09):
It was Don's first time to New York. So like
we went to Cat's Delhi and then we went to
Times Square and then we went to the Memorial and
just just hanging out there in that moment and with
a friend and like that whole the whole trip, Like
we really became good friends with that. But it was
great not to and I've had other great moments in
twenty twenty four, but just do it because I'd never
(01:42:31):
been there before. I've never even been to the World
Carede Center when it was up, So to go to
the memorial was just like it was poignant, as the
best way to put it.
Speaker 3 (01:42:40):
So we went to the dragon Ball thing that was
not in the no I yess.
Speaker 2 (01:42:47):
John, Yes, But I think this year when we go,
all three of us go, we'll have to find other
fun things to do while we're there. What does fron
say here, My father in law is in a hospital
bed right now. Were Wow? Sorry, man, I was.
Speaker 3 (01:43:06):
My mom, so I get it. It's hard.
Speaker 1 (01:43:08):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:43:09):
Actually, for some reason, impromptu had that conversation with my
wife today. But when her parents like, we're going to
take care of them, going to stick them at home?
Speaker 2 (01:43:17):
Yeah, we both agreed. Okay, not to derail this whole conversation,
but my current girlfriend, who I love dearly, so she
left her ex and had nowhere to go. She moved
in with her mom. And while she's been living there,
her mom first off had to have quadruple bypass surgery,
(01:43:39):
so she just had to be there to take care
of her that. And then she lost her sight, so
now she has to take them because she lives there.
She's the one that's got to take care of her
mom and do all the things that she can't do
because she lost her sight. And like, it's tough, it really.
It's one of those things people don't realize how tough
that is to take care of your parents. You do,
(01:44:02):
and I'm I've talked about it on the show a
little bit, but because of financial things, I am living
with my mother at the moment, I'm looking for a place.
But that's a whole other story. But she's in good health.
I don't have to do anything for her. Like she
gets up every day, she goes to church every morning.
She's she's doing really well at her age. My girlfriend's
mother is only a year older than my mother, and
(01:44:23):
she's blind and she can't take care of herself. And
it's just like, you don't think about those things and
don I don't know. I really don't know what I
would do if, like I had to help my mother shower,
Like it's tough. Wow, I really just brought this podcast
down then, and let's just leave it.
Speaker 3 (01:44:39):
It's twenty five, it's a new year. Everybody take care
of each other.
Speaker 2 (01:44:45):
Yeah, that's the thing. Do what you can, and also
try to.
Speaker 3 (01:44:48):
Torture us with recommendations for what we should watch or read,
because we love that. We do, we really love that. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:44:55):
All right, let's bring this in for a landing. Then
let's go around and tell me telling you gentlemen, and
did you learn anything this week on the podcast or
do you have a recommendation and John, you can go
for it.
Speaker 3 (01:45:10):
My recommendation would be high potential for people that like
semi police procedurals and stuff along the lines of Sherlock
Holmes or or in the case of people who know
Monk right. Yeah, High Potential is a really nice show
on Hulu. And other than that, for my anime stuff,
Spice and Wolf or Sukamichi Moonlight Fantasy season two was out.
(01:45:35):
That was great, and yeah, that's it me.
Speaker 2 (01:45:39):
All right, Dodd.
Speaker 4 (01:45:41):
I had learned that I find the thought of Terminator
jabber jaw way too abucy.
Speaker 3 (01:45:48):
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (01:45:53):
But okay, recommendations, Okay, I've been actually waiting to do. Okay,
first recommendation, I got a couple because Armored Core six
fires Rubicon has been out for a while. It's only
forty bucks. This fucking game. It's awesome, so go get it. Also,
Final Fantasy Rebirth was great. I've been playing a lot
of video games lately. Okay, that's Christmas time, it happens. Yeah,
But speaking of video games, Marvel Rivals, which is basically
(01:46:16):
the Overwatch but with superheroes, is an awesome game and
we really should get a squad together. Like, it's free,
it's on every system, and it's a whole lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (01:46:31):
So what platform are you playing on I play on
my PS five, okay, but it doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (01:46:36):
You can play. It's cross platform, yes, whether it's whatever.
So Ron, Cassan, Frosty because it's a six v six
So if John, Don and Dave we can get half
the squad going, we get Cassan, Thron or my ext
door neighbor he plays too.
Speaker 2 (01:46:56):
But I know my son already downloaded on our PS five,
so I could probably just play it there. Yeah, what
fun stuff, fun fun game. We should scort it up.
Sun says, Oh my god, you guys didn't talk about
Secret Level. Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:47:11):
I only just started watching that Secret Level. We should
talk about that next time.
Speaker 2 (01:47:15):
Secret Level.
Speaker 3 (01:47:16):
It's really good. Oh it's little vignettes of different things
about about video games, and it's really good. It's in
the vein of what's that dark show that the spots
or something like that.
Speaker 2 (01:47:30):
Is it on YouTube or is it on one of
the streaming services.
Speaker 3 (01:47:34):
I think it's on Amazon Prime unfortunately.
Speaker 2 (01:47:36):
Okay, I have Amazon most people do. Ca Son, thanks that.
There you go.
Speaker 3 (01:47:43):
That's a really good recommendation right there. But that's not torturous, man,
you gotta get lower.
Speaker 2 (01:47:50):
Rosty says, I'm stuck on Marvel Snap. So is my son.
He loves that game. I've played it a few times.
I do not get the people that like absolutely love it.
He's a card game guy too, So five minute stories
based on video games? All right, I will definitely check
this out tomorrow. All right? Is that it is my turn?
All right? Recommend or what did I learn on the
(01:48:12):
podcast this week? I learned we all might have some
different opinions on best and worst, but that's fine. We're
all good friends here. That's all that really matters in
the end. Recommendations. You know what, I had a few
ideas for recommendations, but I'm seriously just gonna say this, sincerely.
Go check out Archer. Check out her channel here on YouTube.
(01:48:34):
She was a wonderful woman. She like she was just
trying to share her love of art with people and
teach them how to do paintings and stuff. And I
have found this new love of painting and it's so
therapeutic and I love it. And I actually set a
goal for myself to try to do at least I
was originally set at painting a week, but I'm gonna
(01:48:56):
do say that a painting every other week for the
for twenty twenty five. We see how far I get
with it, and yeah, go check her out like she's
she might be going, but her husband still runs the
channel and it's great, and just yeah, just go check
it out. That's all I gotta say. All Right, that
is it. I think the other thing that I might recommend.

we will that look for all that. We have stuff

everything I want to do yet. We have two charity
organizations that want us to do special podcasts for them,

know more about that.
Speaker 4 (01:50:38):
