Speaker 1 (00:02):
Superhero Speak as Joyey he John John John Chaste last.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Hey everyone, and welcome to Superheroes Speak. My computer's running
slow again. I'm your host, Dave, and it is We
are without John this week. He has some family business
that he's taking care of. As he's talked about on
the show. His mother passed away her funerals this weekend,
so he was not joining us this week. We do
wish him all of the best. And I don't know

(00:42):
what else to say, but let's not dwell on sadness. Hey,
look who's here? Cassan? Hello, Cassan? All right, Hey, there's
no football to watch tonight. I guess there's college football,
but who cares about that?

Speaker 3 (00:54):
How are you doing?

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Don?

Speaker 3 (00:56):
How was your week exciting to report? Yeah, it was
a little bit of an exciting week. I completed Armored
Corps six so that was fun. And me and the
Star Wars tabletop group got back together this Friday and
had an awesome session. Spectacular. Yeah, and here we are.

(01:17):
Happy days are here. It's been a while since I've
gotten to give you all my bs, but here I
am happy to babble on about. But more importantly, Dave,
how is your week congratulations. By the way, as a
Philadelphia's fan.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yes, yes, sorry, sorry for all these Browns and Bengals fans.
So I guess you're not a Bengals fan. You're just
a Browns fan.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Yeah, yeah, no, yeah, the Bengals is more Kentucky than all. Really,
it's in Ohio, but it is order. Yeah, and in
Ohio drastically changes once you start going south anyway, Like
it really is a I don't know, suburban state, but
with some big mutropolitan stuff Columbus, Alito, acron stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Anyhow, I had a busy week with work. They're doing
another reorg in my at my company with with the
IT department. It's not a it doesn't affect me right now,
but I always make you nervous when they do that
kind of stuff. But the thing is, the funny thing
about it is I had said a little while ago,
I got moved to.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
A different team.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
The team that I was on got moved to a
new department and has a new boss and everything, and
the team I got moved to, I'm staying with my
current boss and same organization. So it's oh, I dodged
a bullet. I have been working on a painting this
past week. That is a lot of work and I
will gladly display on the show once I'm done. But

(02:43):
I still have a couple of things to do. But
I'm really enjoying this one. It's a it's a following
a video on this and it's a lesson in depth
on how to paint depth into a painting requires doing
multiple layers.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
On a painting.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Yeah, that's why it's taking a lot of time because
I wait for the you I don't use a hair dryer.
I could get it. I don't have a hair dryer.
You can use a hair dryer to dry the paint
and to quickly move through the layers. I don't. I
just walk away from it for a while and live
with it at the point that it's at till it dries,
and then do the next part. So part of the
reason it's taken so long. But I'm enjoying it. But yeah,

(03:20):
that's that was my week. We dealt with it. Not
only the Eagles winning. We had a big snowstorm here
yesterday and almost prevented me from seeing my girlfriend, but
I said nope, I got an uber and made it
through the snow rouse and spent the night there last night,
and did my grocery shopping today because we were off
for MLKA and then now I'm here doing a podcast.

(03:42):
So yeah, that was my week. Had a bit of
an emotional roller coaster this week with some of the news.
Let us come out and things have come about one
of the things I wanted to talk about. We don't
talk about this kind of stuff on the show normally,
but it has affected too many people, and so many
people have questions and maybe we have answers.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
But TikTok was banned for thirteen hours kinda sorta and
its back kinda sorta. I asked my first question is
done you ever go one time?

Speaker 3 (04:16):
No? The only time I went on TikTok is when
the rest of social media was like TikTok ban. I'm like, oh, oh,
I'll be damned. And it had the message about all
we're temporarily I know we could get shut down. Oh
we're shut down, but hopefully President Trump will help us,
and oh look President Trump help us. We're back now,
and then boom, that's that. I haven't touched it since,
so yeah, like it was all a stunt.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
It's got it just yeah, it definitely came off as
a PR stunt, so from my understanding, I have been
following it closely. It was so fight Dance I think
is the name of the company that owns TikTok, and
they decided they banned it themselves, like they blocked the
United States themselves.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
And then they brought it back.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
There is but here's the whole thing that, like everyone's
forgetting and everyone's celebrating when it came back, there's still
a wall that's saying they're not a lot to be
in the United States as long as they're owned by
the Chinese government and are collecting the data that they're collecting.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
And I'm sure none of that changed.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
It was just the temporary block and people sit there
and go, oh, these social media companies all collect our data.
Except there is a couple things that unfortunately, China is
hostile to us in some ways. It's a communist country.
I know people don't like to say those kinds of things,
but it's true. I'm sure we're not going to get
money viewers in China. I'm not worried about that. And

(05:36):
they're they're more aggressive than any other companies, and I
think the ban proved it because I'm in some IT
groups on Facebook and they were talking about how to
get around the ban. The only way you could get
it to work was that you need it to use
a VPN to say you were in another country a
different account, because they kept track of what country you

(05:59):
said you were from when you signed up, and then
you had to have a fresh install on a fresh
phone that had never logged into TikTok because they're tracking
the information about the phones that you use and all
that stuff, and it's and they're storing that information. So
that's a little scary. Let's see, every country is hostile
to every other country. Yeah, yeah, in some way or another. Yes,

(06:23):
I don't disagree with that sentiment Caissan, But that's the thing, like,
it's scary and it's funny because I worked and that's
actually how John and I met. The company worked that
was hosted advertising for online so you're like, you know,
when you go to a website and there's a little
batterer at the top and and ad pops in it,
and if you're refreshing, different ad pops in it. There's
companies that can Flyever, there's companies that control those assets

(06:45):
and what shows up and stuff, And I learned working
there just how much data is collected on your computer
whenever you log onto any website. And my argument's always
been no, yes, I understand why they collect the data
because the advertisers want it, because they want to pinpoint

(07:05):
they want to send an ad to you, don specifically
that will you're more likely to click on and And
it's true because we were doing it back then, and
this is going back a while ago. I'm sure it's
way more advanced now, Like they knew, you're more likely
it was a car AD. You're more likely to click
on a red car AD than a blue card AD.

(07:26):
So the ash that changes the image that you get
shown changes based on those that information that they collect
on you. But there's the other side of the quint
that no one talks about is the people who make
the hardware you use, your iPhone or laptop, your tablet,
whatever it is, should make it a little more difficult
to take that information off of your computer, to be
able to store to use the advertise to you. No

(07:49):
one talks about that side of it. It's always like, oh,
look at the data they're collecting. Why is it so
easy to get that data?

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Because why a lot of people don't know. There's a
lot there's a lot of things like that you think
would be talked about more. Just your regular everyday user
of technology doesn't realize that. Like when they save a file,
let's say a file or a picture, they don't ever
want anyone to see, so they let me delete that.
All it does is take the first bit of memory

(08:18):
and change it to an E five, which els a
hard drive. Hey, you can save over me if you
want to, but you're probably not gonna because there's at
this point free programs that will look at that and
completely restore whatever image or file it was, because all
it has to do is change that E five to whatever.
And yeah, with the algorithms and everything, now that's it's

(08:40):
been super easy for decades. So yeah, people don't realize
how much shit is just out there and we'll be
out there and on their devices.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Oh, the Internet's forever, Like you can't once it's out there,
it's out there forever. You can't Pandora put as Pandora's
box s golls, you can't put it back in.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
For Layman, the basically imagine your hard drive like a
book with an index at the front, and when you
erase a file, all it does is erase the index entry.
It doesn't actually delete the file. So that's yeah, And
there are wastes around to actually delete the file, but
most people just hit the delete key and go, oh,

(09:16):
it's gone. Nope, no, no, even if you empty the trash,
it's still not gone or recycle bin or whatever your
operating systems has. Yeah, you know, anyway, I do think
it's interesting. I would say to anyone using TikTok and hey, look,
we put our shorts out on TikTok as well, and
we do well on there. We do better on there

(09:38):
than we do on definitely on Instagram. I can't figure
out Instagram to save my life, and a little bit
better than we do on YouTube with our shorts. But
and do it with caution because the law still exists.
Like the thought is that Trump is going to sign
an executive order to say not to enforce it. But
the next person that gets in can just verse that

(10:00):
and say nope, go after them, and then you might
be liable for using it when it was banned. I
don't know, and I'm waiting to get more information about
that side of it. You still can't download it from
the app store like they took it out. Oh yeah, yeah,
so you can't download it anymore. And it even says

(10:21):
if you go to the app Store and look it up,
it'll say this application is banned in your region. So,
because I'm telling you right now, Google and Mac or
Apple were told do not until they changed the law,
do not put the app in there, because if it
doesn't change, you'll be liable for having it in there.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
They're just covering their butts.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
I think people should be That's all I'm saying is
people should be careful going forward if you want to
keep using it. But look at just do shorts on YouTube.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
You can If you were figuring out how to do
it on TikTok, you can do it on YouTube.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
It just takes time and knowing how to use the
right keywords and all that stupid stuff. But it works,
so we get views. Somehow, we got people watching us
right now. Go figure. But it was an emotional rollercoaster.
I'm sure John would have a lot of choice words
about especially today of all days, about the TIC, but

(11:19):
he's not here. That's why we're talking about it. The
other thing that I did this week, and I know
you did this week, and we need to talk about this.
We watched the finale of Skeleton Crew.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
What did you think? I thought it was really fun.
I thought that it was displaying something that Star Wars
really does better than anyone. And of course we know
the visual effects, so I'm not talking about that, but
that is as well. But just a multi tiered fun
action adventure set was really cool. You know how they

(11:51):
brought it together. I think that they are looking to
see what the reception is to the series, because it
really seems like they could reintroduce a lot of these
characters in the new movies, perhaps shows or whatnot. So
I thought it was good. I thought it was enjoyable.
It's not my favorite no I have, but it introduces

(12:15):
something into the lore that doesn't exactly break anything, and
we don't really have to explore right now, but it
is an interesting thing that's out there with Atton now
that it's basically just a planet once again. Because the
spoiler alert, the protected barrier of the planet gets gone.
That way, our lady can call the X Wings in.

(12:36):
Not quite sure what that is about, per se, whatever,
She's got new Republic connections and so we the X
Wings come and they help the Skeleton crew call the kid.
So I am that was good.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
I feel like there's a whole story continuing on with
this planet finding out a finding out that the Old
Republic was destroyed, there was a galactic empire, and then
that was defeated by the New Public. Like they don't
know any of this. They've been living in this cysolated planet,
working towards the great work with apparently very minimal outside
communication and then.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Being like ruled and controlled by a computer.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Yeah, and then what happened what happened on those other planets,
those other act in planets, like the one with the
kids who are all warriors and fighting each other, and it's, oh,
maybe someone should go help them, And what was their
purpose originally? I don't think they were all just making credits.
They probably all had different purposes. And there was they

(13:33):
said there was what four or five of those planets,
I don't remember how many they said exactly, So it's
there's stories they can explore right there. It opened up
a whole new avenue and it is not connected to
the Skywalker saga at all, which is even better. And
then yeah, I think my favorite part of the whole
episode and I feel like I can't remember who wrote

(13:54):
the series, but I think because I met the main
not the the showrunner, I feel like I can look
that up over while I'm talking that he must be
somebody who grew up on Star Wars and is a
father now, because the scene where Wim not Wim.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Is it wim?

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (14:16):
The boy would yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Wim like runs off from his dad and gets on
the hover bike and he's gonna go off with his
friends to go save the planet and the dad runs
after him and he jumps on a hover bike and
then he's going with him and then they make that
jump and he's like this is great. I'm like, yes,
he's like us gen xers now experiencing Star Wars in

(14:39):
real life. And it was like, yeah, that was that
was great. That was like the best throw on evening. Gents,
you're only addicted to TikTok if you downloaded it.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
Yes, uh agreed what I will say. And I don't
know if you can call this a complaint of the
show or whatever, but those pirates, because when you're talking
about that scene, they're on their little motorble, which is cool.
Their bicycles are basically to do this, but the whole
like bicycles versus like Speeder with the turret on it,
shooting at him and missing, repeat, like, those pirates are

(15:11):
worse than Stormtroopers by far, like with shooting the kids.
So again, I don't know if I can say that
the complaints, but those pirates suck like they should have
blasted those kids.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
John Watson, Christopher Ford or the creators of the show.
By the way, so what your complaint is not enough
dead kids?

Speaker 3 (15:30):
I'm sure I guess one could interpret it that way
that my complaint is that there are not enough dead
children in the episode. I just don't listen. But what
I'm saying is it's not realistic. Just saying you've got
like a humvy with a turn on the back, chasing
like kids on tricycles. You just it wouldn't end well.

(15:50):
And so in this I just it's a little that's all.
I'm glad they know. I'm glad they made it through
because it's a lighthearted show and series, and I have
nothing against that. But I'm just saying the whole pirates
repeatedly missing the children on the toy bikes while they're
in a battle, Heart and Speeder it's a little much.

(16:11):
There is the force still a little much, It's still
there's wiggle room. I get it.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
So apparently you were sympathetic to Anakin Skywalker.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
And not at all. Nope, we're not going to screen
crush it. We're not going to be like which funny story.
So screen crush had these like Anakin Skywalker shirts and
one of them was like Anakin Skywalker and it was
making fun of the fact that he killed children. We
complained about it, me and Jay one hundred on Omega

(16:42):
Level Nerds my old podcast, and then they took it
off the other stores story there, So I am not
an Anakin killing children sympathizer.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Let's be clear, Okay, all right, all right? And then
I think the only my only complaint is I was
hoping John's character was going to turn around and be
the good guy at the end, but now he was
just a pirate who was for sensitive But well then.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Yeah, obviously you didn't think though that was interesting. Though
I don't know I felt for his character because he's like, yeah,
I was came across this Jedi and she was training
me and showing me shit, and then I just watched
the world fucking Killer and they made me watch. It
made me sympathetic to the character.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
But I didn't say I didn't say that, But yeah,
I was hoping that he was going to be the
hero at the end, but obviously not. It's the kids
and I and the ending was well written. All the
kids are involved. They all have a part to play.
It's not like one comes out. It's not Fern or
Whim come out as like the main hero of the show.
They all work together. Even Neil gets to fire a

(17:47):
big cannon at the ship. But they do leave John
hanging at the end too, So I don't think his
story's done. I think he will return.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
I think if he trends all who returned, I think
they leave it open.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
Tron said, not all Navy seals retire and become good guys. Wait,
Jude Law and navy seal. I thought his character was
a pirate, So I don't know. So yeah, I definitely so.
I definitely hope we see more of these guys going forward.
They got to do something quickly, because kids grow up
fast while they're still cute, you got to get them

(18:21):
in something else. Do you guys think this is from Cassan?
Do you guys think Skeleton Crew will have an impact
on Star Wars. Everyone seems apathetic to the show. Everyone apathetic.
I don't know about that. How he's a seal to him? Okay,
I think so. I definitely think. I think John is
going to be is going to come back. I think
the at At and at whatever the other names where

(18:44):
I can't remember at the top of my head. I
think those planets. Yeah, they have to explain why those
planets existed and why they got forgotten about. And it
might just be a line in the next Mandalorian or
Ahsoka season two, which I did see an article I
didn't include it. They are working on the Circus season two,
so it could just be a quick line talking about them.

(19:04):
But I think they'll be back. I think Jod will
be back because if they start exploring Luke rebuilding the Jedi,
which is I think a storyline people want to see.
I think he's going to try because he's rebuilding the
Jedi Temple. We saw that in the Mandalorian.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
He's going to We could have something to do with
the Kylo Wren shit. Yes, it goes down between Kylo
Wren or whatever Ben in Luke and he might be
one of the dudes.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
That gets Yeah, So I think, yeah, I think that's
the whole thing. I think Jod will see him come
back in that respect some way.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
So I'm fifty to fifty on whether or not this
will actually affect the greater Star Wars universe as a whole.
I think if it tracks, if we like demand, like
Dave is saying, if Dave is one of many that
we want to see the jew Blaw character return, I
definitely could see them doing something. It's just in the
weird air between Return of the Jedi in the sequels

(20:01):
where whether the kind of the Mandalorian is where it's
the New Republic because we had the New Republic in
this show. Yeah, we already know what happens. So it's
really in a weird place because if they're going to
move on with the next sequel trilogy focused again on Ray,
I don't want to say more on Ray. It could
be something that just in the end we're apathetic to.

(20:23):
And I'm okay with that person. I'm okay with him
just saying hey, here's the Star Wars show, and there
there's your story in this universe. They have not shown
that they're going to do that. Look at the demand
for Ezra Bridger returning from rebels and poof there he
is characters coming back that we never thought we'd see
again in the Star Wars. So you never know fenced

(20:45):
or be a separate production entirely.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
Yeah, I don't know. I think I don't know. I
guess we'll have to. Like, I haven't looked at reviews
or anything for the show overall. I'll look at some
of those. I think it went. I think it did.
Everyone I know, Okay, I's put it to this way.
Everyone I know that's in my age range that grew
up with Star Wars who watched this love this show.
So does that mean that they're gonna make a show

(21:11):
to appeal to middle aged Star Wars fans? Probably not.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
But I don't know, a little bit give us a
little something.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
But I don't know how.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Yeah, Like, my son's twenty two and he hasn't watched
it yet, so I don't know how he feels about it.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
And I don't think twenty and thirty year olds get
into Star Wars. I think young kids do. Yeah, and
us old folks that got into it with kids.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
He loved the it's funny, he loved the prequel stuff
and what do you call it? The clone Wars? Like
that was his Star Wars when he was a kid.
And he's been Obi Wan for Halloween and all those things.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
But okay, yeah, but he's gonna do it anymore. Yeah,
so not as into it as I am, because we
just have that nostalgia we were there when just every
fucking thing with Star Wars it was just such a
I think literally, Star Wars is literally the first movie
with an actual soundtrack. I could be wrong, but I
remember that kind of beating. I remember my grandparents had

(22:07):
the album, big fucking album of Star Wars. John Williams
still had great but yeah, wow.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Thron says, the average age of the current baseball fan
is sixty five. What do you think the medium age
of a Star Wars fan?

Speaker 3 (22:22):
Okay, nice, Dave go first like this.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
I don't know if Bron has the answer.

Speaker 3 (22:27):
I would guess. I'm assuming it does.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
I would guess the medium age of a Star Wars
fan because I do think there's young Star Wars fans.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
So I'll say thirty five, thirty five, thirty five, I'm
gonna say forty one. So Thrond you got survey says
you got us, buddy, or we just waste everyone's time.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
Sixty five is interesting because you could look at that
and say only old people watch baseball anymore. But I
think at the same time, that's medium age, right, So
that's saying that there's people that are oh, thron didn't
have an answer.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Okay, you know what, and I should have said that, wow, yeah,
well because of all the young ands that that do
like it. You know, your son getting into well, you know,
he's got a point.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
I met a guy, funny the same job where I
worked with John that just was hit this age where
he did not watch Star Wars.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
He didn't.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
He's the only person I've ever met that came out
and said he didn't like Star Wars and we were like,
have you watched it? And he's like yeah, And it
was funny because one of his issues was and he
was just at an age where Star Wars wasn't a
thing when he was a kid, right. It was that
dry period between the end of the original saga and

(23:44):
the prequels, so there was no Star Wars other than
us reading books and playing a couple of video games
that came out, but the actual there were no movies
there were no big TV shows that everyone was watching
related to Star Wars. It was a dry period, so
he didn't he had no nostalga towards some of the
new movies the prequels came out. He just you know,

(24:05):
he had no interest in seeing them, and he said
it looked too fake to him because there was too
much CDI in those movies. So sure, so yeah, so yeah,
like none of those people, not none of them. But
I think a lot of these people aren't Star Wars fans. Yeah,
forty seven makes say because it's the end of the
baby boomers and the Gen xers. That's when Star Wars
came out, and we're the ones who were kids and

(24:26):
grew up with it, so it makes sense.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
Yeah, yeah, I believe it or not. The first movie
had already come out before I was born. Actually it
was the first two, but I was actually my grandma.
My grandmother did actually take me into the theater for
a Return of the Jedi, but we got kicked off
because I was a baby. Gryb Wait.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
Okay, so Jedi was eighty three, so I was nine,
So I was three when the first one, So I
did not see the first one in the theater. The
first movie I remember, and I talked to her this
many times. The first movie I remember, I really remember
going to the theater and seeing and like it being
an experience was Empire Strikes Back. So yeah, all right,

(25:09):
I liked it.

like what's up with that place? And Bron said he
only saw Jedi in there. Oh that's sad. We released

(25:31):
them every once in a while. You can go see
in the theater at some point. But on that note,
there's a guy around that apparently likes to watch young
ones be killed, and he's gonna come in here and

of being a fan of children.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
Terrible. Oh my god, quick announcement, Wow, quick announcement. We
I know people who visit the website, I'm sure on
occasion probably haven't noticed that we have not been posting
any reviews lately. I haven't done any and we have
not heard from Chris in a while. I have I'm
going to email and see how he's making out. He

(27:48):

just it'll be in video and it'll be shorts. There
will be keep an eye out on our YouTube channel.
There will be a playlist that will include all the

(28:55):
reviews going forward, and there will be one coming out
this week. I am debating betwe in two different comics
that I'm going to review, and it's either going to
be Absolute wonder Woman number one or Toxic Avenger.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
I toxtic.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
There's also something.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
From David Peppos that I have in my inbox that
I might take a look at. It's gonna be one
of those I'm gonna read it tomorrow and then do
the review right away, so look for that probably Wednesday.

On that note, poison Girls, we will be taking a
quick commercial break and we back with our news.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
Some podcasts are like this.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
I don't wash my hands. I don't really trust people
that wash their hands because one, I don't think it
does anything. And some podcasts I like this, and let's
be honest, I'm starting to think it's a scam because
I have a very painful sunburn.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
They have no sunblock in.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
The seventeen eighteen on just yet, nobody's talking skin cancer,
so give me cancer.

Speaker 5 (31:04):
Is where you can get in depth analysis like so
like Max is like searching through these fake photos of
his old fight for the murder memories and we get
another flashback and it's fucking it's the same.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
It's the same flashback.

Speaker 5 (31:18):
Fucking nothing has changed, no information, an adage.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
Cave in skull head explode. Nothing about this flashback gives
us anything new, rings, grab a rope. Nothing about this
is important.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
Why are you showing that?

Speaker 3 (31:33):
Why are you wasting my time showing this fucking flashback
that I've already seen.

Speaker 5 (31:39):
Was there a quota of the show David Herrindy's face
like eighty five times?

Speaker 2 (31:42):
It had to have been.

Speaker 6 (31:45):
You are now listening.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
This has beat them down, and I'm random Rendy Savage.

Speaker 6 (31:51):
Find us on all your podcatching apps like Podbean or Spotify,

Speaker 3 (32:01):
Also check out our YouTube for that sweet video content.

Speaker 6 (32:03):
Cold forty five the only podcast that puts hair on
your chest.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
If you want hair on your chest to go check
out col forty five. Alright, I'm a liar. Don I
said I didn't include that article. I did so our
first to continue with the Star Wars talk our first
article we have it is rumored, but not because it was.
Some of the people involved with the show posted on
their social media's Ian McGregor, how we say that we'll

(32:36):
be returning for Ahsoka season two as Obi Wan Kenobi,
which obviously would have to be flashbacks or something weird
because Ahsoka takes place again after Jedi and Obi Wan
is long dead at that point, and he's also not
Alec Ginnis anymore.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
What do you think I think they can Let's say
you don't think they can do some sort of transitional
force ghosts where we've got an a because they've already
established force ghosts are inconsistent as to how they appear,
with the Anakin one being the prime example there. Of course,
I'm referring to him being the actor from the original

(33:17):
movie force ghost in the original cut, but after Hayden
Christiansen start in the prequels, they added effects on and
put the Hayden Christian Force ghosts in the jedis. I
can see it being something like that, but I also
think it is very likely it'll be flashbacks. Absolutely, they've
shown that in Ahsoka. They've done the whole Hayden Christian thing,

(33:38):
which was absolutely awesome. There again, there's a lot I
like about the Ahsoka show, and that's one of them.
So yeah, this is no surprise to me, and I
love it. I love that they're still finding ways to
incorporate the Obi Wan and Ewan McGregor and got a
live story here. I love it.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
Yeah, I don't get my hopes up up too high
because it could also just be she's in something and
she hears Obi Wan's voice that like says like Luke
hears in a New Hope, he hears Obione say run
and use the force. It could just be something that simple.
But yeah, it would be cool to see a flashback.
It's we know that Hayden Christensen is still heavily involved

(34:19):
with a lot of this stuff too, so maybe they'll
have a flashback with the two of them. So that
would be cool. Show something from the Clone Wars.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
Which I'm so happy for that. I'm so happy for
hating Christiansen, but just he nowhere near Jake Lloyd, the
young Anakin. He's hayting got a lot of shit because
of the prequels, which again the hate has severely dissipated,
and so now that's history. At this point, people tortured
him and I'm just he's forgiven. They've forgiven. I'm glad

(34:50):
to see he's back and getting something. I hate did
a great Anakin Skywalker he did.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
I hate when he gets crapped for lines like I
hate sand But it was like he didn't run the dialogue.
George Lucas did. And it's funny because these stories. Hear
these stories all the time. People need to go back
and look at interviews with Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher
from when they were promoting the original movie, complaining about

(35:18):
George Lucas's dialogue in a New Hope and how clunky
it was and how difficult it was to say things,
and like the actors and the people working on the movie,
assistant directors and producers are all fought with him to
change a lot of the dialogue and they did cut
a lot of stuff out. And I feel like, to

(35:39):
be honest with you, when he went to do the prequels,
because he did all three of them himself, he wrote
and directed them, and people were like, this is the
guy who gave us the original movies. He's the expert.
We got to let him do whatever he wants, and
I don't think Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen and Ian
McGregor fought against it as much. And a lot of

(35:59):
the stuff that he wrote is what ended up on screen.
And maybe someone should have pushed back against him a
little bit when he was doing those with some of
the line So.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
Yeah, certainly there's no one that questioned him for those
behind the scenes they did. But yeah, you're right they
could have. They could have brought him in a little
bit or got some other writers. But with that said,
the Star Wars dialect, I don't know, that's kind of
people talk. I don't know, it's weird because we speak
English and in English there's eight ways to say everything,

(36:31):
and Star Wars just doesn't really have that. Like it's
so no, that's my defensive George Lucas's writing, which I
go out on a lot of limbs. I'll do that,
but there you have it. I don't know, it's not
that bad, but I get it.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
Yeah, I want to see Ian mcgrecord do some more.
Obi Wan, he's a lot of people's favorite character.

Speaker 3 (36:51):
Like I said, he's absolutely like my son's.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
Favorite character from the prequels, So yeah, bring him back.
That'll get my son to watch season two of So Good.
All right, let's see what else we got to talk about.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
Oh, you know what before we move on, I'm sorry
because I wanted to add this in so not only
though with Ewan McGregor. Oh god, damn it, I forgot
his fucking name. But so baylin' skull my current like
obsession and who I'm going to cause play at Comic Con.
They're replacing the actor they're gonna recast. Oh, the guy
from Game of Thrones that played at a Hound. So

(37:26):
fucking excited for that. I completely forgot that. Yes, they
did recast him and he is coming back. Get the
dude's name here. I'm just I'm so freaking excited. Yeah,
Rory McCann from Game of Thrones.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
Casan is saying that it's poor writing. There's no defense
poor writing. Son, You're just terrible. Listen.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
I can take structured criticism of George Lucas and Star
Wars just I get hot under the cow all or
when people are Star Wars is dead, No, it's not.
It's not going anywhere.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
And I think Skeleton Crew proved that the fact that
the actors want to keep coming back and doing the
roles over and over again proves that. And yeah, and
Baylin' Skull coming back. Yes, we're all excited for that.

Speaker 3 (38:09):
But it's good. I'm telling you. We're gonna causeplay. I
found I think it gost like two hundred bucks, but
I found like someone was going to make the armor
and ship.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
All right, So here's the thing. We've got upgrade. We've
got ten months to figure this out. But I think
the three of us will have to cause play something
together at New York. So if you're Baling Skull, I'm
gonna have to figure out a Star Wars character, and
John's gonna have to figure out a Star Wars. I
think John should be C three po just robotic.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
Yeah, oh, you got to be proper. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
I think that's Bailing was the only bright spot from
the Accolade.

Speaker 3 (38:44):
He wasn't the act.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
I thought it was Ahsoka that.

Speaker 3 (38:46):
He was in. You're correct, Dave, Yeah, yeah, Son.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
You're getting all your Star Wars mixed up now. Yeah,
and I guess I'll be job of the hut.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
Oh come on, now, if you're going to do anything,
Dave self deprecating like that, fat want that's right.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
I forgot the FATO wanting all right, this is this,
This is going to be tough to talk about, but
we are a comic book podcast. We've got to talk
about these. So it has come out that Neil Gamon
might be a dirtbag? Did you read anything? Did you
read the article on Variety about him?

Speaker 3 (39:19):
Yeah? Yeah, I did. I read what was provided there
in him denying that sexual assault, and I just rolled
my eyes with a dave because it's just here's creeps
in every corner of the earth, and comic books certainly
not immune.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
Here's the thing, all right, So Neil Gaman, he's written
a lot of great things that we all read and watched,
the Sandman series being I think the most popular one.
He didn't what was the other one, the series that
he did with the Devil and an Angel shoot.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
I can't remember the name of that. That's the thing.
I'm not even a huge Here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
There's going to be a tendency for people who are
huge fans of his is to run in his defense.
There's gonna be people who are, for lack of a
better term, white knights that are gonna be like, oh,
he did something against women.

Speaker 3 (40:10):
He's terrible.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
But I think anyone who has an opinion on this
needs to make sure they read the Variety article because Lucifer, yes,
I think he also did. But then that's what the
show I'm thinking of, Cassan it was on. I don't
remember one of the streaming services anyway, that's neither here
nor there. You read the article and it starts talking
about this one. They're talking to this one woman who

(40:32):
was their babysitter for their when they when their kid
was young, right, him and his wife's kid was young.
And the story starts off with this is so weird
that he had a bathtub in his backyard garden they
call it in England, call out their garden. He had
a bathtub there and he asks her if she wants
to use it and get a bath. So she gets

(40:54):
naked and gets in the tub, and then he got
naked and got in the tub with her, and okay,
that's bad, and she describes it as a horrific thing,
but she continued to be their babysitter after that. This
is the once she first met him. He did this
and she continued to go back and like all of
the stories, it comes off like he was in a

(41:15):
sexual relationship with these women, and then he did something
they didn't like, so then all of a sudden it
was bad and apparently, look, I'm not again, I'm not
defending anything he did, but apparently he was into what's
it BDSM or BSDM or I don't know what it is,
sado masochism, that stuff, and it feels like he would
cross the line with that stuff. And then that's when

(41:37):
they had a problem and would like then say something.
So it's like, how do I say this without sounding
like a jerk? Look, I get it, women can definitely
be victims. I've known women who actually have been real victims.
But this comes off like, Oh, this is the charming, rich,
famous guy. I'm gonna get with him. And then once
he crossed the line at any care for now, I'm

(42:00):
gonna complain about being molested and no, like women have
to be accountable for some of their actions. I'm sorry,
And I know that's gonna get us a lot of
flak from anyone who watches this.

Speaker 3 (42:12):
Oh but here's the thing, because I'm a father of too,
I'm a husband, a son, all that, okay, So I
am so not for it to be creepy to try
and get laid. Okay, but with that set, like, I'm
really somebody that needs a really fucking strong sign before
I like come on to a woman. Okay, if I,
for whatever reason, offer for you to get naked and

(42:34):
be in a tub in my backyard and you're like, hey, cool,
if I want to make a move, I'm gonna make
I'm gonna make a move. This is all weird, but
I'm but just to your point, Dave, obviously there's lines
that you cross, and then you don't get blamed for
getting sexual assault because you cross those lines. But it's
like you're putting yourself in a situation. I'm a good situation.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
I have a daughter and a son, and i'm three granddaughters.
But the one thing I always taught my daughter is
that if you're in a situation and you're uncomfortable, you
get out of that situation, period, point blank. And I've
told this story many times. I'm going to tell it again.
I got flak from somebody for telling this story on
the podcast. If they're I doubt they still listen, and

(43:16):
if they do, fuck them. The proudest moment, one of
the proudest moments of being my daughter's father was she
was at a store, she was looking for something, and
some guy walked up and grabbed her butt, and she
turned around and socked the guy in the nose and
gave him a bloody new And that's exactly the right
thing that she should have done in that situation. I

(43:37):
was because the thing was, when I talked about this
in the podcast before I was told I was glorifying violence.
And it's like, oh, so what she's supposed to just
be a victim? Like, get over yourself. And that's the
whole thing. Am I saying? What he any? Like men
that predatory man are right?

Speaker 3 (43:52):
No, not at all. But women need to like know.

Speaker 2 (43:55):
When to get themselves out of situations, and if they can't,
that's a whole nother story. And I know stand there
are times that it happens, but there are women who
put themselves in situations and then complain about it afterwards.

Speaker 3 (44:05):
And that's what I'm tired of.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
And when you read the article and read these women's stories,
it comes off like, oh, wait, no, she kept going
back to him and then it got uncomfortable, and then
she complained, sorry, move along, I don't your story is
invalid at that point to me.

Speaker 3 (44:21):
That's the thing.

Speaker 2 (44:22):
These women could have been okay the first time when
he got naked and got in the bathtub with you.
First off, you don't go back, and second all you
go to the cops right after that. And if you
don't want to go to the cops, fine, but you
don't go back period, end the story. Yeah, I'm sorry.
They're trying to all of a sudden paint this guy
as a villain. And when I saw this couple of

(44:42):
stories that were posted, I'm like, it's gray this whole
women are always right bullshit. No, sorry, I'm not one
of those guys. They went for the sex and stayed
for this gat that's gross but probably true.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
Then later on they went to a bars so they
could see a ska band.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
So all of that being said, and we're probably demonetized
at this point. My question is a question. I always
have one stuff like this, Okay, fine, maybe he's a comeback,
maybe he's not. But if he's this comeback, does that
invalidate any of his work that he's ever done. If
you're a fan of Sandman, can you no longer like

(45:29):
Sandman because of these stories?

Speaker 3 (45:32):
I can answer that question, at least for me, and
that's no, you're not. You can continue to enjoy their
work because I have my own personal example of this. Right.
So one of my probably my second favorite run ever
of X Men was Josh Whedon's astonishing X Men. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (45:49):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (45:50):
Yeah, a lot of people love it. He of course
directed the first Avengers, which and second which both I
actually love, but the event and then turns out he's
like a total a hole creepyzoid boy. Yeah, believe me.
It's a great shame that my second favorite X Men
writer of all time is Josh Whedon. But I'm sorry,

(46:12):
it is the truth.

Speaker 2 (46:14):
Yeah, no, I think the gal Gado butt shot in
this league gave it away and the Barry Allen falling
on top of Wonder Woman's scene as well. But yeah,
it's funny because I liken it to music and Michael Jackson.
There's been a lot of stories that have come out
about him. I don't know how if they're true or not. Nothing,
He's never been convicted of anything. There's never there was

(46:36):
never any hard evidence that he did anything wrong. But
a lot of people still say that he was a creep.
But I still like his music. He was still a
musical genius. Right, does that make me a terrible He
was the baddest ever. Hey, does that make me a
terrible person because I like his music? No, I'm always
gonna like Michael Jackson that said this long time ago

(46:57):
when I was in high school, and he said it
about and I think that's where this came from, and
it's where my philosophy came from. He's he was a
huge Elvis fan, and it came out that Elvis was
his big drug user, and he died of a heart
attack on the toilet because of all the drugs he
was taken, and he was he slept around, and he
was a womanizer. But it was like, but at the
end of the day, he still was a great singer

(47:19):
and he was My father was still going to always
be a fan of his music. So yeah, Like it
shouldn't take away from the art who the artist is,
because I'm sure if you go throughout history, any great
artist had issues just that, plain and simple. So yeah,
if you like Neil Gamon's writing, you like his books,
you like the TV shows based on it, it doesn't

(47:40):
change that you're still allowed to like. Hey, maybe you
agree with us, maybe you disagree with us. Let us
know in those comments down below, and we'll tell you
next week how wrong you are. No, speaking of wonderful news,
not at all. Di'mond distributors who used to distribute all
the comics to all the comic book shot not so
much anymore, have filed for bankruptcy. So this is an

(48:05):
interesting one and a lot of people are like conconcerned.
There's a big article I saw. I think it was
either Forbes. It might have been because it was originally
broken on Bleeding Cool, but I think Forbes picked up
and it was like, oh, where Diamond goes, so does
the comic book industry. I don't think that is true.
I don't think that's been true for maybe at least

(48:25):
six or seven years at this point. Marvel broke away
from Diamond a while ago, and then dec broke away
from them, and that is why, Yeah, that is why
they're currently declaring bankruptcy. Because the big boys aren't using
them any It's all smaller publishers that have been using them.

(48:45):
And let's face it, we're in a digital age and
people are reading digital comics too, So yeah, do you
think this is gonna hurt the industry? Help it?

Speaker 3 (48:54):
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (48:55):
No?

Speaker 3 (48:56):
I don't think this is going to hurt the industry.
I mean, personally, I love comics, but again, and I'm
not a big fan of the economics of them right now,
particularly with the print because right now the big two
are doing five dollars books and you just you're not
getting a lot for your money. You're not getting a
lot of the story for your money when you buy

(49:16):
these books. That said, Diamond Distributors going down is not
going to affect much. I don't think, not only because
things are moving more towards digital, but even for the
print business itself. The pandemic, which is where all the
troubles for Diamond started right before they lost Marvel and DC.

(49:37):
I remember how much flak they were getting for the
condition of their shipments and things of that nature. So
they were causing themselves some problems before this happened. So
I don't think this is strictly a they're going bankrupt
because the comic industry is going bankrupt. No, they're going
bankrupt because A the pandemic happened, and then B they

(49:58):
had apparently massive quality control issue as far as distributing
the actual books. And this is comic retailers themselves, So no,
I think this is a company that was I don't
want to say doing bad business. Quality is important, and
at a crucial time I think, yeah, they just didn't
have quality, and here we are. But moving on in

(50:18):
general to the comic book business, I do think it
is going to shrink. I think it has to shrink
because at some point I just don't think it's going
to make business sense for Marvel or DC, or any
comic book company for that matter, to put out this
many books for this much money and get that little story.
And I guess I'm more speaking to Marvel and a

(50:40):
certain point of DC. I think the smaller comic book
companies have a little bit better pacing and do a
little bit more focusing on making sure you get a
complete story in your four or five issues. Yeah, so
I will say that much. But as far as again
Marvel and DC, the companies that's charge four now five

(51:01):
dollars per book, you just don't get much for it,
and I think they need to shrink and focus on
characters that care about and making sure they're only writing
shit when they have an actual story to tell, and
not just making it because it's got to be made.

Speaker 2 (51:13):
So I used to work in the publishing industry. Many
moons ago. I worked for TV Guide, and even back
then we would say print is dead. It's something you've
heard since the eighties, and it's only gotten worse with
the Internet. And look, I'm not saying the comics. There's
a few things that have kept print alive. People who
collect books. And that's not just comic books, that's also

(51:37):
actual books. There are people who still like the tactile
feel of a book in their hands and they go
to read it. My daughter's that way. She loves a
lot of the same books I do, and she will
go and buy them and she reads them. So comics
is one of the things that has kept print alive
for a long time, because again, digital doesn't make sense
to a collector. It makes sense to someone who just

(51:57):
wants to read the story, but somebody who wants to
collect books, digital doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 3 (52:02):
It's also one of the things.

Speaker 2 (52:03):
I don't think the comic book industry understands, like their
money is with collectors, not with people just reading the stories.
No one cares to read the stories anymore, as like
they care to read the stories, but like they also
want to be able to say Ooh, now this goes
in my long box and I've got it forever. It's
a weird mindset, but it's true. That being said Marvel,

(52:23):
because you had talked about five bucks and it's not
a contained story anymore. Marvel went to this idea of
let's do a four issue story, collect it, and now
we can put the trade out, and then the trade
could go into like Barnes and Noble and any place
that sells books now like they might not have the comic.
And it's also one of the that wasn't done through Diamond,

(52:46):
that was done through a different distributor, right because and
that was the thing that became their concentration for comics
for a long time. And then I feel like, I
honestly feel like it became now that we've got you
collecting a trade here, and now we want you to
get the next trade. So maybe there's a lingering thing
at the end of that four story arc that you
got to read the next story to get it. Seven

(53:08):
hundred page traditional paperbacks equal ten dollars.

Speaker 3 (53:11):
Yes, I need to move where he lives because but
a twenty page comic is five dollars. I get. I get.

Speaker 2 (53:18):
We're not the economics is messed up with comics.

Speaker 3 (53:21):
I agree.

Speaker 2 (53:21):
I also feel like comics used to have a lot
more ads in them that offset the cost of the production.
Because Caissan, there's something else you're not thinking with a book.
Joe Schmoe go sits in his house and writes a
book and then sends it to publishers and tries to
get it published, and then if it's good enough and
then they like them, they'll forward him some money for

(53:42):
his next book if that book sells well. But other
than paying a fee buy the book to be able
to publish it and distribute it, there's not enough front
cost to the publisher for the books flip that they've
got to pay an artist and a writer to create
a story they want for a So that's my only
defense for the five dollar thing, is that there's more

(54:04):
production cost to Marvel, DC or whoever to make a
comic book than there is to a publisher to find
an author and go, oh, you wrote a seven hundred
page book. You want it to be published. You know
we're going to publish it, and we're going to also
charge you money. Because that's another thing. It's like the
record industry. There's fees that the publisher that the writer

(54:25):
tends to pay if they want their book published. There's
less risk in comics. I don't argue with this. Casanta's
comic book need more. I agree with him martiall time frame.
I don't disagree with that because I think that would
bring the industry back. But again, but the five dollars
argument is there is more production costs up front for

(54:47):
a comic because I have a very good friend of
mine who is an cover artist for Marvel and has
done some stuff for DC, and he makes a pretty
penny for one cover. So because and I don't dissuade
him at all, because it's not like he doesn't have
a nine to five, Like, however many covers he can
do for the publishers, how much money money he can

(55:08):
make for the year and that kind of stuff, But
they have to pay him for that cover before the
book goes out, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (55:17):
Good, I think that's totally fine. One of the things, though,
Dave is like, they come out with all these variant covers,
so not only they're paying the guy you're well, yeah, yeah,
but they're also paying five other guys, gals or whomever
for the variants, and it's there's ways they could cut costs.
I don't want any writers to make less money. That's

(55:37):
not my pitch here, But I'm just saying something else
has to be wrong where you have to charge five
dollars a book and just get a sliver of the
story to the point frontal. That's why I'm a trade guy,
because they don't really help you save money all the time.
But at least I buy it. There's the whole story,
and I don't at least have to spend the extra

(55:57):
time in gas money going to the shop once a
month or over two weeks or whatever the cadence of
the story you're reading. So I don't Yeah, I don't
have the accounting behind it. I'm just completely with consan Caissan,
and it's the reason why I'm not actually collecting currently,
or at least not having a pool currently, because I
just if I go and I pay five dollars, I

(56:20):
need to get way more than you get. Just that.

Speaker 2 (56:24):
No, and yes, again I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm
just saying there is a reasoning behind the pricing which sucks.
Maybe if they could advertise cigarettes again in the comics
less hey, listen.

Speaker 3 (56:38):
I just saw them advertised chewing tobacco on YouTube, so
I was like, hey, is this cool again? Right? What
You're right? They don't have advertising in the comics and
if they and they should, but just make sure they're
targeting the right people. Don't put Lego advertisements in the
comic book because kids that they're gonna buy legos or

(56:58):
or squishmellows, that's a big thing. They're not looking to get.
They're not looking for comics.

Speaker 2 (57:04):
But I would like to say there is one there
is one reason that this news bothers me. These are
what I collect. We got Magneto here and and Silac
thank you. I was about to say Electro and I
don't know why. They're Diamond Select. So they're Diamond Toys,
which is under Diamond Distributors. They make the Diamond, the

(57:26):
Marvel Select. They make a bunch of different toys, a
horror series. I collect those, and that's one of the
things I don't remember if you remember I bought I
bought one at the New York Comic Con.

Speaker 3 (57:39):
And that's one of the Iceman. Yeah, I bought the Iceman.
He's not on my desk, So you got swagged out
come on. But that's the thing.

Speaker 2 (57:47):
It's like, wait, I do have this on my desk,
hold on Iceman's different head. It came with two heads,
the more modern with the hair and then the traditional
bold Anyway, so I don't know how this affects their
toy manufacturing. It might become one of these things where
maybe they stop doing comic distribution and they just concentrate

(58:08):
on the toys. Who knows.

Speaker 3 (58:10):
But I like their toys.

Speaker 2 (58:11):
Not everyone's a big fan of them. I like the
Diamond Select, the Marvel Select toys because okay, they do
have I have a Captain America that is based on
Chris Evans. But for a long time they claim the
fame is they would take art from a famous artist,
like the Thing is based on Jack Kirby's drawings. My
Electra is based on Greg Horn's art because he did

(58:33):
the covers for Electra for her short run in the
early two thousand, once she had her own book.

Speaker 3 (58:38):
So that's the whole thing. The art, the sculpts are
based on.

Speaker 2 (58:42):
Famous comic book artists version most popular versions of the characters.
That's why I really like them. So I'm hoping they
don't go away. They continue making quality toys because they
aren't doing quality and distributing comics.

Speaker 3 (58:58):
If they do go out though, to make your stuff
worth a little bit more, relying, it's yeah, yeah, you're
not wanting you're not wanting that trade off. I get it.

Speaker 2 (59:08):
Yeah, I still need to get with Doctor Doom. They
just came out with the Fantastic Four last year, believe
or the year before, believe it or not. They had
never done the Fantastic Four before they finally did them,
and I do have all four. And then they did
a Doctor Doom years ago. I'm not a big fan
of that sculpt I'm hoping they were going to redo
them to go along with the Fantastic Four release, but

(59:32):
there has been no announcements since then. In fact, there
were no new toys announced last year at New York.
So it makes me feel like, oh, maybe this was
a long time coming. The bankruptcy and there were not
spending money on development for different things because of it.
So it sucks. Hey, if you collect toys, if you
collect Diamond, Marvel Slack, Diamond sleckt or maybe Marvel Legend,

(59:56):
maybe McFarland toys, let us know the comic blow comments
below because I am a twin collector, and I'm curious
what other people are collecting, So let us know and
I would appreciate it. All right, Don, were in the
home stretch. This is our final news article for the week,
but it's the big one. I am sure we have
all watched this trailer multiple times. At this point, we

(01:00:19):
got our first look at Daredevil born. They are reuniting
the entire cast from the Netflix series. We even have
John burtonfall how we say his name back as Frank Castle,
the Punisher. There is even a hint at Luke Cage

(01:00:39):
in this trailer. So if you were a flan, if
you are a fan of any of the Marvel Netflix series,
this is a must watch. I think so, Don, what
did you think of this trailer?

Speaker 3 (01:00:52):
I think it looked very good. Don't get me wrong.
I am not the biggest fan of the Netflix Staredevil series.
I did watch it, though, didn't watch Luke Cage or
Jessica Jones. Certainly not gonna watched they Immortal Fist after
I've I've heard about that. Yeah, but I will say
though the Daredevil series was good. I'm not a big

(01:01:13):
street level hero guy. A lot of fighting in dark hallways,
but Hey, you gotta cut your production costs somewhere. It's
almost like a skeleton thing for me. Say, okay, that's good.
But I know a lot of people. I know a
lot of people that really did enjoy that Daredevil series,
and I certainly don't have anything bad to say about it.

(01:01:34):
I think it's a really smart choice for them to
bring back the cast, for them to why they In general,
I thought it was a smart choice for them to
keep that part of the universe alive because it did
have a lot of fans. So yeah, I liked a
Kingpin scene visit Inofrio. I think is absolute perfect choice

(01:01:54):
for that character. And so I'll enjoy it and not
even my fing again, I'm not a big Aredevil street
level hero guy, but it is confident writing. It is
a good show, interesting show, So yeah, I gotta be excited.

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
Yeah, no, it's so going on a second, I need
to look something up because thron just said I heard
the guy who plays White Tiger died. First problem with
that statement is White Tiger is a woman in Marvel,
so I don't know who he's talking about.

Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
And uh oops, sorry I'm clicking around here.

Speaker 2 (01:02:32):
And then Daredevil, I'm Punisher where the best Marvel TV
show is nothing as good since says Cassan, and I
did not hear that she passed away, so let me
look at while I'm clicking around here. So I did
not have a Netflix subscription until I got until Daredevil
came out. I and I don't see anything in the news,

(01:02:54):
so I'll have to I'll have to do some research.
And I loved this show, the original Daredevil's show. I
was a fan of the comics. I was a fan
of Daredevil for many years, and I felt this was
true to his spirit. It's definitely very Frank Miller run
inspired the first season of Daredevil. And if you've read

(01:03:17):
the Frank Miller run on Daredevil, and you have to
love it too. Introduction of the Punisher was so good
in season two.

Speaker 3 (01:03:25):
What's his Face?

Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
From Full Metal Jacket as Nstininafrio as Kingpin is a
master stroke and casting. It's probably the best thing they
ever did. And I love that, Like they're not redoing it, Nope,
Now Daredevil, this is Daredevil. He existed, like they've already.
He's already been back obviously twice in No Way Home

(01:03:49):
and in shea Hulk.

Speaker 3 (01:03:50):
So heysh Sea Hulk.

Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
Yeah, so Charlie Cox has been back already as Daredevil,
so obviously it's this isn't a surprise. And anyway, Vincent
Dnafrio was an Echo as already as Kingpin. Obviously he
doesn't die. They gave us that cliffhanger at the end
of Echo, where you hear, you don't see anything, you
hear the gunshot.

Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
And then they ended it like that.

Speaker 2 (01:04:15):
There was a rumor that they were gonna say he
got shot in the head and he was gonna have
an eye patch and born again, but nope, I don't know.
I hopefully they explain whatever that was. Even though Echo sucked. Sorry,
people liked the show. Oh no, no, no, that wasn't
an Echo. That was in That wasn't Hawkeye. Echo was
spent off of that. That's right.

Speaker 3 (01:04:34):
I'm sorry, I'm getting confused.

Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
I only watched the first couple episodes of Echo because
it was horrible.

Speaker 3 (01:04:39):
Anyway, too many C Lists shows.

Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
Yeah, so yeah, and that's the thing, and that's the
right comment, because Daredevil is not a Sea Luster. He
I feel he is an A List character, So to
bring him back. I know you said you're not a
fan of the street level.

Speaker 3 (01:04:54):
But I absolutely will not argue with that statement. Absolutely no. Yeah,
but I don't like Spider Man, but I'll never argue
that he is tiptop. Yeah, no problem.

Speaker 2 (01:05:03):
Wait did you just say you don't like Spider Man?

Speaker 3 (01:05:05):
Okay, that's a little bit strong.

Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
But I might have to kick you off the show.
He's not one of your favorite characters. I know he's
not Colossal.

Speaker 3 (01:05:16):
We get it. Everyone can just when I grew up
as a Spider Man.

Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
He's the greatest.

Speaker 3 (01:05:21):
I'm just hating. I'm just jealous because Colossus in himself
is i'd say, b tear. Okay, Becausan says, don't worry.

Speaker 2 (01:05:28):
No one watched that code, don't need to explain it.
So yeah, So having them back and I love Obviously
they're doing Born Again. They're not going to do Born
Again the same as they did in the comics because,
first off, what's her face is still alive?

Speaker 3 (01:05:43):
Geez, Karen?

Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
That's it, Karen Page, like anyone, there's a whole Karen
dies of a drug overdose. Matt Murdoch hits rock bottom.
He goes to confront Kingpin with a gun and he's
going to kill him. It's a whole crazy story. Then
he's not Daredevil for a while, and then he comes
back and it's Daredevil born again. Obviously they're not following
that story because Karen is still alive, right, Like they

(01:06:07):
didn't do the drug addicted Karen in the show on Netflix.

Speaker 3 (01:06:11):
But that being said, this is gonna be dark.

Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
In fact, this feels darker than the Netflix Daredevil show,
just for the fact that there's that scene at the
end of the trailer where he's pulling the guy in
his arm back and you see this arm is starting
to rip off, Like that's some bloody, dirty stuff that
they didn't go that far. I feel like in the
Netflix show, and they're gonna put this on Disney Plus,

(01:06:36):
like they're going for it, and I give them man
props to be like willing to do that. I'm curious
how this story is gonna work. Obviously, we're doing a
story where he hasn't been Daredevil for a while and
Fisic has become Mayor, and we're gonna that's gonna push
him over the edge to be Daredevil again. And I
want to see how they do the count and Mouse. Obviously,

(01:06:57):
that whole diner scene is count and Mouse, where Fisk
still knows he's Daredevil, and that's Kenan for anyone who's
gonna complain it is Ken Fisk knows that he's Daredevil.
In the comics, I think it got redconded at one point.
I'm not sure, because I did fall off in the
nineties on Daredevil, sorry, just like I did with a
lot of comics.

Speaker 3 (01:07:17):
And when I go in between the nineties and now,
everything's been red cond and then conned back and then
red cond again.

Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
On a side note, the actress who plays Karen is
an Avid D and D player DM. Yes, I have
heard that before, but but yeah, so, like I am,
I'm excited for this, I really am. I can't wait
for it to start. I can't. I can't believe that
because Netflix would dump the whole show and you could
binge it, and of course Disney doesn't do that. They

(01:07:44):
do a weekly so that's gonna kill me.

Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
But yeah, it'll just be me weekly watching, waiting, hoping
for an X Men glimpse.

Speaker 2 (01:07:54):
And that's one of the things I was gonna say.
I want to see how they're gonna tie this into
the Greater m you. He's already interacted with Spider Man,
so you can't just now all of a sudden have
a full standalone Daredevil movie. But that also now means
that Punisher is in the MCU. Oh my god, that's
that is There are so many implications for Punisher being

(01:08:17):
in the MCU that, like you really have to think about.
He's a vigilante that kills people and are they gonna
stand for that he's But then the other thing is
they're bringing in White Tiger, and I thought that was
an interesting choice. But then I was like, oh that
the Matt Murnock and White Tiger do have a relationship
in the comics. I'm guessing the actress who played Electra

(01:08:37):
didn't want to come back, that's my guess on it.
But they're doing a comic accurate costume, which I love
that we're in the error of Yeah, she's gonna wear
a skin tight white costume with some black detailing on it,
and boom, there's White Tiger and it's like, all right,
I'm in, like, let's go for it.

Speaker 3 (01:08:58):
Don you got a cartoon?

Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
Be happy?

Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
Of course he's talking about your X mensan. Listen, listens, listen,
shut up.

Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
Perfect, that's all you need just right there. I hope
that they keep the Punisher as well. I hope they
keep the Punisher with the same edge as Netflix. That
Punisher didn't hesitate, I think so. I think again. I'm
going by sure two seconds in a trailer, but it
looks like they gave Frank PTSD like a bit extreme

(01:09:36):
in this, which I mean obviously they played on that
in the Punisher TV show on Netflix, but I feel
like they're gonna push it harder in this because it's
almost like he doesn't recognize Matt Murdoch and that's yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
I know, you say the PTSD a little strong there.
I think that's gonna be a lot to do with
the Punisher's character, explaining his mindset and what he does,
and not to mention like my brother was a mechanic
in the army. We're in Iraq and Kuwait and came
back with PTSD. I don't know. Shit happens, crazy shit

(01:10:14):
soldiers sadly wait.

Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
Cassan says, I hope he won that standoff because he's
talking about from the trailer, because it looks like he's
gonna put the hatchet in Matt's heads, and I hope
he doesn't.

Speaker 3 (01:10:24):
I hope the main character doesn't matter that would suck. Yeah,
a little bit getting starked.

Speaker 2 (01:10:30):
Oh my god, No, don't give them ideas, because somebody
at Marvel's going, hey, there's Game of Throne.

Speaker 3 (01:10:37):
Shows did really well up until the end.

Speaker 2 (01:10:40):
No, I don't remember. Do you remember what the release
date is? Is it next month?

Speaker 3 (01:10:45):
Oh? No, I don't. Oh we are terrible. I don't
see it because then the switch to release date came
to my head. Oh yeah, that's right.

Speaker 2 (01:10:53):
They did announce the switch to I was gonna I'm
not as much of a gamer as you are.

Speaker 3 (01:11:00):
Included.

Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
It actually does not say looked up March fourth. Okay, yeah,
so he had a month and a half to wait.

Speaker 3 (01:11:06):
Oh i'll live. It's further of something else coming. Oh no,
I'm captain America.

Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
Oh yeah, that'll be our next big movie review.

Speaker 3 (01:11:14):
Hey you excited? It's your boy, Sam Wilson. I'm excited.

Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
Yeah, I'm excited to see Harrison Ford turn into a
red Hulk, the guy, the grumpy guy who got sucked
in like the nerd world.

Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
Who's who?

Speaker 2 (01:11:30):
Actually he doesn't care at all about this stuff, but
yet keeps taking these roles. Come on, yeah, I know
what would be interesting. I can't believe I'm saying this
what if? And this is a terrible what if? And
I hope it doesn't happen. But what if this ends
up being Harrison Ford's last role. The guy's in his eighties.

Speaker 3 (01:11:49):
It is possible he's taking that calculated risk at this point.
It's gotta be something he thinks about and resolves himself. Yeah,
I know, I'm really surprised that he's taken this role again,
like you said, knowing how like anti type cast or
nerve type cast he wants to be to then be, Hey,

(01:12:09):
immortalize me and CGI as a Hulk. Yeah, Marvel movie
where this fandom is gonna want me at comic cons
till I die. Yeah, it's not the play I would
have thought old Harrison Ford did, but he did, and
I'm glad for it. I'm happy, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
And a son as asking what's up with everyone ignoring
Caslvanian not turned season two. I haven't finished season one yet.

Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
I can't remember if I finished season one, so I'm
gonna redo season one. But yeah, I just haven't watched
it yet. I'm assuming it's great. I just haven't watched it.

Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
Yeah, Hey, I had what if Creature Commandos and Skeleton
Crew to get finished up on this week. Plus I'm
painting now and I've got a girlfriend and a full
time job. I haven't had time to go back and
watch Caslvania Patience.

Speaker 3 (01:12:54):
Yeah, I know, I've been on a video game tear
I work, so don't get I know it, got to
watch it. Do you want to talk? I didn't even
know if it's some guys we talk about.

Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
Don loves the Pennsylvania and he watched the first season,
so yeah, maybe we'll start talking.

Speaker 3 (01:13:10):
To really good, really good, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:13:12):
I means I gotta get caught up. I'll rewatch it,
all right.

Speaker 3 (01:13:16):
So that's it.

Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
That is all the news we had this week. We
get we're under two hours this week, so that's good.
Let's bring this one home. So don tell me, did
you learn anything on the podcast this week? Or do
you have any recommending you learned?

Speaker 3 (01:13:30):
Apparently I am into children's genocide, all right, recommendations. Yeah,
what I definitely recommend is Marvel Rival. So now that
I'm done with my Triple A single player titles and
now I freeze up a little time for me to
do some Marvel Rivals. Really having fun, So anyone out
there within the sound of my voice. Anyone want to

(01:13:51):
squat up or if there's a squad I can become
part of. Let me know. But if you haven't already,
download Marvel Rivals.

Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
It's for free.

Speaker 3 (01:13:59):
It's on most systems and it's very fun.

Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
Casan learned that Don doesn't appreciate cardtoons.

Speaker 3 (01:14:09):
Now are tunes. I just want my Avenger quality x
Men movie exactly. I don't disagree. I learned. What did
I learn this?
