Speaker 1 (00:17):
Hello everybody, and welcome Superhero Speak. I'm your host Dave.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
And I'm the other guy on vacation dot.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Yes, still on vacation in an undisclosed location. It's all
part of the witness protection plan. We won't get into that,
so we're going to talk about the news quotes. It
came out of San Diego Comic Con for this week,
including we did it's the trailer for Peacemakers in two
let's see first look at Ahsoka, which was and some

(00:47):
comic book news that's a little exciting and interesting, and
and somebody made their debut this year at San Diego
Comic Con, which shocked me when I learned that. We'll
get into all that in a minute. But before we
get to all that, how are you done? How is
your vacation so far? No one is forcing you to work?
By the way, just so people.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Know, Yeah, if you gave me the option to slack off,
but I said no, I'm a dedicated We'll make a
level of podcast nerds here we are. I wouldn't miss
the world. But yeah, no, it's great not working. Other
than I did get a text today that was like, hey,
I know you're on your case. Yeah, that old yeah,
but that didn't take long to resolve that. All's well,

(01:29):
just spending time with the brother and sister in law,
niece and nephew. You may even hear them once or
twice during our podcast today, but it's real fun. Because
my nephews he's in two Marvel and Star Wars, and
even learned that he was in the Magic. I was like,
oh man, I know I would have could have been
dueling this whole time. Next time I will know better,

(01:49):
so I will look Yeah. Not good stuff, man, good,
having a good week. A little bit of homesick, miss
my dog's macab in my bed, but other than that happy.
What about you, sir? How is your since Sunday Bend?

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Okay? Nothing nothing too earth shattering. The my badge for
New York arrived today, so that was exciting. As we
said before I got on areas is probably sitting in
your mailbox and and looking forward to that getting that's
getting close, though, I will say, since you know on
topic a little bit, I was gathering the news for
talk about and I was shocked, how I won't say

(02:28):
little news, but little bit of news that we really
care about to talk about because nothing exciting came out
of San die.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
As we go through these things, you will notice a
lack of Marvel stuff, which.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Yeah, that was one of the things I'm gonna say
is one of the articles I was reading was a
round up of all the news from the convention, and
it said the one thing that was lacking was news
from Marvel and deed to c especially when it came
to the their movies. Like there of course there were
people there talking about what you call it, Superman and

(03:04):
the Fantastic Four because they just came out, and there
was hubbub around that, but nothing about their upcoming movies
other than I think Peacemaker. But no, Marvel had no
hall aged presence this year, which shocked me greatly.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yeah. With San Diego Comic Con being considered by most
to be the comic Con, you would think that Marvel
and DC would both have robust presence in that con.
But really, two things that I take away from that is, ay,
I'm hoping that means good news for us because we'll
be at New York Comic Con and so hopefully they

(03:41):
will have a presence out there. I know they did
last year, at least when it came to their Magic
Secret layer stuff that they announced, and outside of that,
it does make sense because they do both still have
movies currently in the theaters trying to make money. Yeah,
so it does make logical sense that maybe they're not

(04:01):
trying to hype anything outside of that just yet. So again,
hopefully good news for us at the New York Comic.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Com Yeah, fingers crossed. Let's see. Oh Sun says that
he saw he just saw Fantastic four last night and
he was pleasantly surprised.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Wonderful there you go.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Oh yeah, and the last time we saw Front he
was walking in to see the movie. Yep, hopefully he
enjoyed it. So yeah, speaking of things that are disappointment,
here's a friend dark. Don I tell you where you
could find more superhero Speak off down here.

Speaker 3 (04:38):

will trap you in a box with an agitated gun

(05:22):
doc named Free Lawson. I would just false lightning you,
but we don't have that in the effects budget. Now
back to the show.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
The heck, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Okay, I was trying to play a clip but it
started and failed.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Okay, like my first marriage.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Oh man, you are on a roll and I talking
about your ex wife. So first, okay, first article we'll
talk about. This was the big quote unquote surprise making
his debut at San Diego Comic Con, which this is
what shocked me because been around as long as almost
as long as the convention making movies was George Lucas.

(06:17):
And he wasn't there to talk about some kind of
upcoming Star Wars project or an upcoming film. He was
there to talk about a museum that he's opening, uh
called the a Temple of the People's Art. It'll be
opened in downtown LA next year. And yeah, I assume
it's gonna have a good amount of art from what

(06:40):
you call it, the movies, the concept art and whatnot,
because stuff that he have probably stuff that he keeps
on the ranch, Skywalker Ranch. But I don't know, what
do you think? Were you shocked that this was the
first time that he was there.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
I was, I because I figured at some point he
would have to be there in the past, but I
guess it makes He made his debat San Diego Comic
Con this year because really there's been a resurgence in
George Lucas love the courtesy of the sequel trilogy, because
I can clearly remember before that that everybody, everybody is

(07:13):
a strong word. A lot of people didn't like George
Lucas because they didn't like the prequels, but then the
sequels came out and everyone's, Oh, those prequels were great,
They'll make another Star Wars trilogy, and everyone's going on
the sequels. Mark my words, Ryan Johnson will somehow become
master class and directing.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
I don't know about that. Okay, we'll see, but.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
So listen, he's revered, he's a big name. Makes sense
to me, and really, when it comes down to it,
maybe you don't think of art when it comes to
Star Wars, but you really should, because Star Wars comic
books have been a thing forever. Yeah, most of them
high quality. By the way, I have never read a

(07:56):
Star Wars comic book and said, oh, this was trash.
It's always been really cool. Stop always had quality artwork.
Him making the first trilogy the way he did with
a bunch of plastic model pieces glued together in vasoline
on the lens so that you don't see the wheels
on the hubver the speeders like that is art. And
then even the music the Star Wars. The Star Wars

(08:17):
was like the first movie soundtrack ever. Yeah, so it
makes total sense. Unfortunately it's in LA, which means I'll
never see it. But hey, it's out there, and i'd
rather see him get his love while he's alive. Hey
why not?

Speaker 1 (08:33):
I don't know. Maybe it'll be a superhero speak road
trip to LA.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
That's a long road trip.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
It is, But yeah, I concur let him get his
acolytes while he's around. He's not making the movie Acolytes.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Was that a Freudian slip? No?

Speaker 1 (08:50):
I was looking like a comment earlier about you being
none disclosed location? Are you the run anti acolyte crowd
after you? Which I do find strange? That stopped making movies.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
So after you sell your billion dollar franchise and then
you hand all that to a profit, but to charity,
obviously you're retired.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Yeah, this is true. It must be nice.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Plus, who wants to make something just to have the
Internet assholes, trash you for it. It's it's going to
happen either way.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
They're going to trash you no matter why. That's just
how that works. Yeah, the other let's see next article. Oh,
speaking of Star Wars and George Lucas, that's right. I
did try to do that. We got our first look
quote unquote at Ahsoka season two and Darth Mole. What
was what's that show called Mole shadow Lord. Moles shadow

(09:43):
Lord is an animated show, yep, that's coming out. It
was just a picture of Darth Mole holding his dual
lightsaber of school. And the first look at Ahsoka season
two was Ezra Bridger in a different outfit than yeah
it was in season one, which is a little closer
to this suit that he wore, a little closer than
he wore in Rebels. Funny, like, that's one of those

(10:05):
things that was glammed on. Is big news because it
was like there was much that came out of it.
Let's start with the Darth Maul. What did you think?
Are you excited for that series?

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Oh? Yeah, I'm excited for anything Darth Maul. I have
been infatuated with Darth Maul ever since I saw him
in The Phantom Menace, the five times that I went
in the theater to see it, and then the hundred
times i've seen it on actually believe it or not,
I actually owned that movie on VHS. Wore that sucker
out for sure. But yeah, no, Mal's a cool villain.

(10:39):
He's a captivating character with going from Acolyte to sith
Lord to then crime Lore to Mandalorian. Now he's trying
to revive his crime syndicate. And then the one bright
spot for many people for the non solo Star Wars
story was of course we saw him at the end

(10:59):
of that was like old boy. Yeah, yeah, No, I'm
definitely one of those people. I'm super super excited for
Dark Small as well as I am for Asoka season too.
I just it's one of the big mysteries to me.
Dave is somebody that's a long time Star Wars fan.
It's a great time to be a Star Wars fan,
and it has been for several years now, So I

(11:20):
don't know whatever one's bitching about. This is all great stuff.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Go ahead, No, I don't disagree with you. And it's
funny because Ahsoka was a good show. It just flew
under the radar and I don't.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Don't know why. Yeah, don't know why, because hating Christising
returning as Anakin Skywalker slash Darth Vader was frigging spectacular. Yeah,
and the fact that it's heavily rumored that he's going
to be heavily involved yet again. Yeah, the fact I've
even heard that, Yeah, the show is maybe ah Sosoca

(11:52):
season too, but honestly, a lot of it may be
about Anakin slash Darth Vader. Yeah, which is great. I
always thought that the hate he got, We've talked about it.
He's not a bad actor. Now, you could say the
writing was a little bit suss, but I always maintain
Star Wars characters in the Air universe they talk different

(12:13):
than us. They have a different dialect and voice, kidd.
So that's just the way it is. So just to
see him get an opportunity to come back, to see
him get the love that he deserved, because he really
did play a great Anakin Skywalker. I couldn't think of
anybody else on this earth that could even play that role.
So I yeah, I don't know, man, I am so

(12:35):
excited about all of this. Not to mention, of course,
if you're a fan of the show, and you've heard me.
I love Baylen Skull as a new character. So to
see roryer McCann, who played one of my favorite character
from Game of Thrones now playing Baylen's Skull, I just
I yeah, I'm so excited. Don't get me wrong. Not

(12:57):
a lot of news came out that I didn't already know,
but it's at least it's at least a sign of
it's getting closed. And I can't wait.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Yeah, I'm sorry, I'm distracted. Son and Thron are talking
about Fantastic four in the comments and as in reference
to Sue's Storm or Sue Richards as her powers in
the movie comic accurate rainbow lights that can be telekinetic.
It's not rainbow lights, it's force fields. She generates force fields.
She can make things visible and generate force fields. And

(13:30):
that's what it was. She was pushing Galactus with a
giant force field and people saying, oh, she was op No,
she has done some incredible feats in the comics. And
her son was being kidnapped, her baby was being kidnapped.
So it's you think you look at it like a
woman who can lift a car off their child because
of the adrenaline. If we talked about this in the
review on Sunday. But yeah, so she was putting her

(13:54):
all into that force field to get rid of Galactus
because he was trying to steal her baby. So that's
I felt. It was a very believable scene. She wasn't overpowered,
and and she did pay the ultimate price for doing that.
She had a mcguffin as a baby.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
Ultimate price equals five minutes of death.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
Yes, especially in a comic book movie. I was gonna
say so. The other one was Ahsoka season two. We
were just talking about that. Yes, it flew under the radar,
all right, Sorry, I'm trying to remember where we were.
So yeah, I'm excited for it. I do hope there's
a lot more hating Christians than Darth Vader. Maybe we'll
get another cool fight with him and her Ahsoka and Vader.

(14:34):
That would be cool. Maybe get that mask broken again.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
That was an obi wan But maybe day. I mean,
I hope so too, because there is other than Ray
Park in episode one. There is no other actor that
wields a lightsaber as good as hating Christians. He is
really spectacular with his lightsaber.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
There's been I've been seeing videos surface online, like behind
the scenes videos where they were lightsaber training for the movie,
and yeah, you know, he got really good.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Like.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Yeah, the back troll he does, he does a move
where like he drops the saber from one hand to another. Yeah,
like and he's doing it. It's not a they weren't
camera tricks, like when you see the behind the scenes
stuff and they're just using sticks to train and he's
doing this stuff. It's, yeah, that's good. I don't know
why people don't like him. And again I also say

(15:26):
this too. You see him in Ahsoka, you see him
come Back and and thebi one series, and you're like, wow,
he's actually pretty good. And there's there was a lot
of argument for it was direction of why he came
off robotic in some of the prequel stuff. All right,
let's move on to DC. So the only kind of

(15:48):
movie related stuff is we got the new trailer, the
full trailer for season two of Peacemaker, and I assume
you've seen it. Actually it was funny because it was
played before the Fantastic for movie, but they did premiere
it at Comic Con and obviously it's it's your favorite.
It's a multiverse story like they confirm it, like there's

(16:09):
this doorway thing that he goes to another universe. So, yeah,
the the guy that was in Superman and is going
to be in season two. The act the actor he
is playing Rick Flagg Senior. It was the guy who
played cross Bones. Yes, so he's gonna be Rick Flegg's.
He is Rick Flagg Senior. That was confirmed because I
was confused if that was Rick Flegg from like a

(16:31):
different version of Rick Flagger, if that was supposed to
be Rick Flagg senior. And yeah, it's a confirmed that
was Rick Flegg Senior. And he's now hunting Peacemaker for
killing his son. So the trailer makes it look like
he's deciding he wants to try to escape into this
other universe where Peacemaker is actually a good hero people
like him. And so it's an interesting plot for a

(16:53):
movie plot for a TV show. What do you think
any excitement for this?

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Yeah, Peacemaker is actually a super hero show that my
wife really enjoys. Yeah, so I was excited watching the trailer.
Really said they chose a great Ozzy Osbourne song, rodanor Aware,
off of his No More Tears album. Yes, And so
I was liking that one of my favorite songs. I
was just disappointed because you mentioned I didn't see any Peacemaker.

(17:19):
Peacemaker in I didn't see him.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
You didn't see him in the trailer.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
I didn't see John seen it.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Oh God.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Got him.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
Oh God, that took me out so long.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
I know, but it's cool. I just again I question,
Like you mentioned the multiverse. We saw him in Superman.
He's a remnant from the old DC universe, so I'm
really interested to see how they pull that off. I
hope they don't screw it up.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
Yeah, this is something that they can easily screw up
and make it make no sense because here's the thing, right,
you assume he's gone to this other universe because obviously
the story is he's being chased and he's trying to
in the world seems better for him. But also you
think that they're doing it so they can say this

(18:09):
is why it's still piece the same Peacemaker, but we
now have a new Superman and Green Lantern and all.
It's a whole different ball of wax. And also I
did think about this too watching it, like, oh, if
they wanted to, they could now bring in Patterson's Batman
into going through one of those portals, but we won't
get into that just yet. So yeah, I think it's

(18:31):
gonna be tough to pull this off and have it
make sense and not have people go huh. But at
the same time, if it's just contained to this show,
to this season and it ends up with him in
the Superman universe, then I think we're probably fine. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
You know what, even if they screw it up per se,
the redeeming quality of it will be it's gonna be funny.
At the very least, it's gonna be funny. So I
but again, I just hope if you get old chefs
kiss and they actually do something that makes sense with
the multiverse, and I agree with you. I think maybe
this is a way for them to explain how he

(19:09):
does come to the new DCU with the new Superman
and all that. So we'll see it. I think it's
a dangerous move, but I think James Gun and the
other guy Saffron more James Gun, he seems and knows
what he's doing. He seems to know what he's doing. Yeah,
And I think that if he couldn't pull this off,
he wouldn't do it.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
No, I agree with that, and I also think like
they can also, which I don't think they will. They
could also pull it where it's like he ends up
staying in his universe, but they established that there's a
peacemaker already in that universe. Yeah, maybe it just makes
sense that way. I don't know, because that would be
silly as well. So we'll see. Then. The other news

(19:50):
that was DC related, I wasn't originally going to bring
it up, but I have to now because you mentioned
it earlier. Yeah, sent me a text.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
There's not an eight o'clock in the more running this
time while I was on the Pooper.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
There's a an animated show coming to HBO Max. Is
that what this is?

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (20:07):
Batman as Tech Batman Clash of Empire. So it's a
reimagining quote unquote of Batman during as tech ancient American times.
And I feel like should I say this? Not only
is Hollywood of ideas, the comic book companies are now
out of ideas like like why Batman? Like why not

(20:29):
just have a story, Like write a story, good story
that takes place in ancient America and have an interesting
story around that. Why does it have to be Batman?
Is there going to be in Alfred. Is is he
going to have a joker type villain to fight like,
because then it's just it's just you're just slapping Batman
on it. It probably won't make a lot of sense

(20:49):
other than we're using his name because we're afraid no
one's gonna watch it if we just make an original
car too.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Yeah, man, I'm thinking, like, boy, how have the Mighty fallen?
Particularly you see animation they used to be the King. Yeah,
I'm so. I can't see the comments, so if you
need to read it.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
Oh no, just the fron said as sec Batman let
the child sacrifice continue exactly.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
But yeah, why I don't get this at all. I'm
so done. I was never not done with the whole
reality swamp Batman. It just it seems like ever since
they did the killing joke where him and back Girl
had sex, it's like ever since then, everything they're doing
with Batman and their animated department.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
Is just this isn't all. Shoot. I don't know if
you remember sending him out a Deep Comics reader, there
was a storyline where Batman gets shot, but the but
it wasn't a regular gun that shoots him. It sends
him back in time. And he has to like go
through time to get back to modern day. And so
they had him, they had a caveman version, they had

(21:52):
him in like different time periods, going through whatever the
story was to get him back to the modern world.
And I feel like this is an offshoot to that.
Someone was like, oh, that's really cool Batman without modern technology,
and it's like they've already done that. Gothen by Gas like, yeah, yeah,
I don't know it.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
Yeah, I just out of all the ideas out there
that could be had, why go down this.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
This isn't one of them.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Batman Beyond is still out there. No, you want to
do something Batman do Batman Beyond? Well, love it, absolutely
love it.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Yeah, I don't disagree with that. I don't know why
they're not touching Batman Beyond. Terry McGinnis is a lot
of people's favorite Batman not why not cash in on that, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
Especially while you have Michael Keaton a Rale.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
Who can play the old Batman.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Yeah yeah, so you're yeah, that's where it's Batman, this
Ninja Batman, Aztec Batman having sex with bat Woman.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
I'm just come on, And that's another thing too, right
that that was it Ninja Batman where he was like
in feudal Japan. Yeah, like a lot of people hate
it that it got and online, So why would you
continue doing stuff that's possibly going to be hated by people? Yeah,
I guess it's also a different role now because like
they can put it on streaming instead of trying to

(23:08):
put it out for people to buy. They don't have
to worry about like selling it as much.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
But right, but in order to make money, which it's
all about, Yeah, it's gotta be some people are interested
in so we buy the shirts, the hats, the fun collops,
the figurines or whatever you want to call We're not
going to do that if it sucks. No one's buying
a statuette of Aztec Batman. Guarantee.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
You can ask the same question to Marvel, why do
you keep doing stuff that people hate? Caissan, You're right?
Except right talking about Marvel. They announced at the New
York Comic Con San Diego Comic Con the Maker is
going to return in the Ultimate Universe and in what
they're calling Ultimate Endgame. So again, no new ideas because

(23:58):
oh the movie was popular, it's it's a series endgame.
But yeah, because apparently he hasn't been around for almost
two years. They're saying, so.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
That's what that article said, But I'm gonna call bs
on that.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
That article is on Marvel dot com.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
So no, because there is a comic a recent I
guess in my mind or maybe has been to but
where he made this world. He's trying to bring back
the Ultimate Universe. And then at one point he basically
trapped all the heroes throughout the multiverse and to make
sure that there's no heroes so that he could just

(24:34):
run them up. So I swear that's been within the
past two years. Maybe I'm wrong. Compelling character. Nonetheless, he's
always doing some major shit. And as far as the
old Ultimate Universe, I know we've got the Ultimate Universe
now that's going on that they re established he played
a part in. But he really is a survivor of

(24:55):
a character. This is the Maker from like before Secret War. Yeah,
him Morales. We're the only two characters that survived that universe.
If there was a storyline about it. Maker even tried
to work with Miles Morales a little bit because he's like, hey,
from the same universe. But Miles Morales isn't a fan
of Genius psychos. But yeah, Maker's cool. I like what's

(25:15):
going on with it? Yeah, I don't know about the
name though, Endgame. That really does just cheapen the whole
thing for me, but whatever.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
It also it hints that this is the end of
the storyline. Yeah, like you're gonna get a five issue
mini series and that's it. No more Maker, But could
be wrong. I don't know. It just seems interesting. I think.
I guarantee I'm gonna go check it out. I'm sure
you'll go check it out.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
Oh yeah, yeah, but I guess this is the first
crossover event of the new Ultimate Universe. Interesting enough.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Yeah, so yeah, yeah, that's the other thing. That is
the first big crossover for that universe, which is funny
because you start off with Endgame. Yeah, I'm sure it's
going to be a play on whatever his plan his question.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Unless they're gonna unless they're gonna do away with the
Ultimate Universe.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
No, because I also feel like I feel, I honestly
feel like they do stuff in the comics to trial
balloon some ideas.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Yeah, movies, absolutely, that's all they.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Are, And I feel like there might be there might
be ideas floated in this that will float that will
end up in the MCU. What's this? Thron says, I'm
just holding out for lunch lunch lady, Batman lunch from.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
Lunch lady and slapping jewel slap.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
Have you been drinking?

Speaker 2 (26:35):
Not at all? Oh, I'm not at all.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
And let's see. What was the other thing that you
sent me that you wanted to geek out over.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
Oh? That was the gund Wing thirtieth anniversary video, which
basically announcing they're gonna redo or not redo, but they're
gonna restart at gund Wing manga. And then they redid
some scenes from Gunda Wing and this new animation that
is beautiful. Literally, I shared a meme on Facebook. It's
that meme of the guy from Parks and rec where

(27:01):
he's this is beautiful, but staring at it for five hours.
That's exactly what I've been doing. The way death Sithe
looks and it's just it's great. And I hope that
they take this really nerd gasm that all of us
met guys are having over this and saying, hey, we
need to do some more gundam Wing.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Okay, so John's not here, yeah, and he was our
he was our resident anime nerd My question is Gundam
Wing isn't that Is that the original off of.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Part of this that's romotechnically, No, that's a whole Yeah,
ok No, Gundam Wing is not the original Gundam. The
original Gundam is mobile suit Gundam. Okay, okay, but Gundom Wing.
The thing about Gundam Wing is it is the first
foray into Gundam that US Americans got. Okay from the
old townami Okay, So it was how I was introduced

(27:55):
to Gundam and understand, mobile suit Gundam was the start
of it. But compared to how Gundam Wing look and
when I talk about Gunda Wing, this is still this
is like mid late nineties animation. So compared to today,
it's not super great, although I think it still holds up.
But compared to the nineteen seventies mobile suit Gundam, Yeah,

(28:16):
but so a lot of US forty five plus year
old mech Gundam nerds. This is major nostalgic for I
must watch through Gundam Wing at least once year. Okay,
it's just it's very nostalgic. I think it has the
best Gundam designs of any people may disagree with that.
It's okay to each their own. Maybe a nostalgia is
playing a part, but I don't know. It's just it's

(28:38):
frigging spectacular, and I just I love seeing like the
some of the scenes Redone in a new, better animation.
And I'm not a big manga guy, but I might
just pick up the Gundam Wing manga that they're gonna
be doing. I don't know, super excited about it, and
I hope this birth's more Gundom Wing, I know, and
there's a new Gundam series it's like quu Ux or

(28:59):
whatever it is. And this is completely stole. It's thunder
and I'm fine with it. It should it's great. It's wonderful.
Is there was there?

Speaker 1 (29:08):
Did they give a release date or is it just
next year?

Speaker 2 (29:11):
This just next year?

Speaker 1 (29:13):
All right? Maybe we'll check that out for the podcast.
Maybe John will come back and do that. Who knows.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
I doubt it.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
I doubt it too, which is too bad. I think
he's think he's moved on to greener pastures.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
He was not fucking around. Is how we're done here?

Speaker 1 (29:31):
Anyway? Was that out loud? Okay? Okay? The last thing
I was going to bring up because okay, you got
me into Invincible. You were like, you gotta watch it,
and so we watched it. Season four is coming out.
But my question before we get into that, do you
read the comics at all? Just the TV?

Speaker 2 (29:51):
Not at all? And in fact, I was late to
the TV series because I was much like you another
evil Superman. I'm done with this, but I don't know.
One day I was just bored, sat down. I was like, oh,
there's a lot more to it than that. I love
the animation, I love the fighting, I love everything about
the voice acting is complete top notch. So that's a

(30:13):
good segue for you.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
Okay, yeah, because they made an announcement at the Comic Con.
Robert Kirkman made the announcement while at his panel talking
about Invincible, and they're gonna bring dinosaurs in the season
for I don't even know who Dinosaurus is, and he'll
be voiced by Matthew Rise which apparently a lot of

(30:35):
people were excited about that as well. So I guess
I need to ask, if you're watching this, let us
know in the comments, tell us about Dinosaurus. Is he
cool character? Is he an important I'm assuming he's an
important character. Yeah, I'm producing him like this, and.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
I don't know. I don't know anything about Dinosaurus, the character,
but what I do know is the dinosaur race that
he is. It's actually a race that can stand up
to the Viltrumites a lot like a lot like battle
beat The Viltremites are not like the end all be
all of the universe. There are species out there.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Yeah, and that was one of the things in season three, right,
it was like the Allen was like, oh wait, there
are people who beat them, So he's gonna he was
gonna go look for alien races that had beaten the filtermite.
So I'm going to assume the dinosaurs race is one
of them, and they're gonna team up and have a
iltermite dinosaur Allan the Alien War. Maybe.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
But I'm also excited because in that same announcement, Robert
Kirkman is saying that in order for him to cover
the comic book run, he's gonna need seven, eight, possibly
nine seasons. Yeah, already super excited about it.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
Because that was one of the other things they said.
It was already approved for season five before season four
even came out. So yeah, that's so we got a
lot more invincible to go, I see, just good for you.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
You should be excited.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
That's here's the thing. Like there were other articles that
was everything felt like worth talking about because it's stuff
that we talk about a lot in the show and exciting,
and it had me wondering because we've talked about this.
I feel like we've been talking about this at least
since the pandemic. And the question is are comic book
conventions dead or are they just reverting back to being

(32:26):
about comic book because we know they're working on They're
filming Doomsday, and they've got five other projects under their
belt for Marvel. We know that they're filming Supergirl and Lanterns,
and so they have these other projects that DC's has
coming out, So why not get all h and show

(32:47):
a trailer for Lanterns get people excited about it. I don't,
and I understand in the past it has blown up
on them a little bit in the sense of they
have announced stuff that never came out, or they announced
stuff and it took seven years to come out and
people weren't as excited about it when it came out
because there was too much build up. Batman v. Superman
being one of the best examples.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
Oh yeah, I still remember that when they first revealed
that logo and then yeah, and.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
It took a long time for it to come out. Yeah,
but I don't know because someone had pointed out we
talked about this before, and it's Disney has the D
twenty three and they want to kind of want to
announce things there.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
And then DC has fandom, Right, do they still do that?

Speaker 1 (33:31):
They did it for a couple of years. I haven't
seen it since.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
Because yeah, I feel like I haven't seen it either.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
And there's an argument of oh, you just released stuff
on YouTube and bah blah, But it's not the same
me seeing a trailer on YouTube and looking out, oh okay,
yeah that looks cool, and me being in a group
of fellow nerds who loved this stuff and experiencing a
moment like that that builds a lot for property.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
Because you watch it on YouTube, you're by yourself. If
you're me, you're by yourself in your basement. Okay, that's cool,
But if you're in Hall H or whatever. They can't
remember the name of the bigger hall there at the
New York Comic Con because totally different experience. When you're
showing it and everyone's woo you and then you put
that out on the internet when you can hear that

(34:17):
hype from the crowd and it translates over you. Yeah,
I'm really I guess they really just must be frosted
over some leaks. But I think they should just say, hey,
we know it's gonna leak. Yeah whatever.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
I never got that either, like when they would show
something in hall H but then be like, don't show
this to anyone, don't film it, don't show it. And
that doesn't make sense either, right because you can't. Even
if they don't film it, they're gonna go tell people
what they saw. So that's just how human nature is.
So that is one thing I think they always should
have been, like, no film this and put it on

(34:50):
to build the hype of what we're working on. And
you can't argue. You can't argue for Marvel right now
that oh, they're so successful, they don't need the hype.
People are and more and more disappointed with them, so
they need the hype still in There was a few
years ago, quite a few years ago where they head
a hal H panel and Tom Hidleston was showed up

(35:13):
in full Loki gear and he just walked out on
stage and the audience explode it and then he just
did this and they all got quiet. Yeah, and he
just makes his line I've been burdened with great purpose
or whatever, and then they explode again and it's yeah, like,
moments like that they need to bring back. And I

(35:33):
do think, I honestly do think if they could bring
moments like that back, people will get excited for the MCU.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
Again for sure, Like how cool would it be? Dave?
Me and you were at comic Con this October New
York Comic Con and this time we go to the
Marble announ and what if Captain Hydra Chris Evans walks
out full suit, right, just walks across stage, doesn't say nothing. Yep,
how hype? Were we going to be?

Speaker 1 (36:00):
Alright hyped? Oh?

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Yeah? Yeah. They need to bring that art forum back. Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
Yeah. Marvel, if you're watching this, you better have some
plans for New York.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
We can only hope so well. On that note, let's
just ask that question we do in every episode. What
do we learn on the show tonight? What did you
learn don or do you have any recommendations? I know
you haven't been watching anything because you're on vacation.

Speaker 2 (36:26):
That is correct, But I actually do have a recommendation.
But before that, what I learned on the show tonight
is even when we're talking about Star Wars and a
Soaka and Darth mall our chatters saw fit to talk
about Fantastic four. So on topic recommendation. Tomorrow, season two
of Twisted Metal comes out. So, Dave, I don't know

(36:47):
if you saw the first season of Twisted Metal. If
you haven't, you should. It's great. Ok So I recommend
that if you haven't saw a Twisted Metal season one,
watch that and join me in watching. Probably won't get
to watch until I get back home because a kid
friend the program, but definitely check that out. It's a
great show, and I think season two is looking more

(37:07):
and more of the video games and one. Season one
is still it's a great setup. It's still awesome.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
Did they show a trailer for that before a Fantastic four?

Speaker 2 (37:16):
I think so?

Speaker 1 (37:17):
Yeah? Okay, all right, so yeah, yeah, because that looked
like the video game. I didn't here's yeah, you forgot
that there was a season one.

Speaker 2 (37:26):
It's great. Anthony McNee does a great job. Yeah, and
that also has a Samoa Joe playing sweet too. Yeah,
and they bonded over the Thong song in season, so
to give you a little taste of what to expect.

Speaker 1 (37:39):
All right, I'll maybe I'll check that out. I learned that, yes,
no matter how good a Marvel movie is, that Casan
will find something to complain about. And yes, the invisible
woman that's claiming that wasn't a force field. It was
a force field. Come on, read the comics and recommendations.
I got nothing myself. I don't even know what we're

(38:02):
gonna talk about on Sunday yet. Oh yeah, we'll have
to figure that out. Maybe I'll go watch Twisted Metal season.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
I say, yeah, if you can catch up. I think
by the time Sunday thirty rolls around I can. And
I because I can't remember. I don't think they do
the whole season thing. I think they release it once
per week. Yeah, I don't know, Dave, let's shoot for that.
If you can't get it done, and I'm sure we'll
find something else we can bullshit.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
Well figure it out, all right. I think we get
hit it. We got it done, so I can say that.
On that note, Poison Girl, as always, thanks for watching. No,
let you keep caught in the door. See you next time.
