Speaker 3 (05:44):
Man.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
You never know, we may end up having to give
something away. We keep getting more of these live viewers
here in the live stream. That's awesome. Well, I tell
you what, before we get the show, I see you
folks joining us in the comments if you'd like to
support the podcast that supports the local music scene, where
(06:06):
you can easily put your money where your mouth is,
or well, you know what, you can reach for the
stars and participate in the Stars Wars. Now. The Stars
Wars is a fun, interactive little competition that we do
each and every week here on the podcast. And what
(06:29):
the Stars Wars is is we like to have some
folks that will donate the stars. You have that option
there in the bottom of the screen. That's how we
monetize the live stream. So if you are one of
the top Stars senders of the live stream, you get
(06:53):
qualified for a prize, as we have now begun awarding
all of our winners of the Stars Wars by giving
away some prizes every month. And the truth be told,
I don't know what we're gonna be giving away this month.
(07:14):
I've got an idea, but I don't know for sure.
Last month we gave away some of these limited edition
signed still Knocked hats, and we also gave away a
couple of passes to the upcoming Black Pearl Rockavette benefit.
(07:39):
So so excited to be a part of that, folks.
So you never know what you could win. But that's
the easiest, one of the easier ways to qualify for prices.
Or you can subscribe to the Facebook page for four
ninety nine, cancel any time four ninety nine a month,
and you will automatically be entered in for all drawings.
(08:01):
So we appreciate those of you who support the live
stream see what we've going on. I've got some alerts
popping up alrighty, So I tell you what. Let's go
ahead and give some thanks to our sponsors who put
on who helped power this show. And first up, we've
(08:25):
got the folks who power the stage inside the roadhouse
at Rock Oklahoma. We've got dB Concerts who answers the
question what do you want to do with your ice?
And Rocky does, and Rocky shall be doing. And we've
seen that Rock Oklahoma lineup. Oh my gosh, and we
(08:49):
get a peek of who will be playing those uh stages.
You know what, let me let me make this a
little bit well at least that's what she said. Uh,
we're gonna magnify that so we can read it and
(09:10):
see who all is playing. Wow, look at that. So, folks,
we've got some big names that are going to be
playing Rocklaholma. I tell you what, We're gonna break into
that here in a little bit later. Thank you so much,
Doug for sponsoring the show and doing everything you do.
(09:31):
There was a lot of local bands on that Rockaholma
lineup and that makes me so happy to see. All right.
With that being said, we also want to think at
your service, Rentolds for putting up with all of our shit. Well,
they are the forcial official purveyors of the Poosh Shacks
(09:54):
at Rockklahoma that you can also get your own portable
restroom for your campsite at not only Roklahoma, but Born
and Raised as well. They've even got swimming pools and
will fill up those pools with some nice, cool, fresh
clean water and it will help you beat the heat
(10:19):
like none other. And let's just be honest, nothing gets
a party in the right spirit like a swimming pool
on a hot day, and you don't want to be
like that guy who's looking around for a place to
go the middle of the ninth Hey, buddy, what are
you doing over there? Yeah, he didn't call at your
(10:42):
service rentals. Also, we want to give a shout out
to Rockavett. Rockavette is a five oh one nonprofit charity
who has been just We've been working with these folks
for almost ten years now giving away passes to veterans
(11:04):
because they believe that music is medicine and that is
their mission to help give back to our veterans and
support awareness of mental health and everything that goes along
with doing what they've had to do as they were
(11:25):
warriors for our freedoms and our national defense. So I
am so happy to support a organization that takes care
of our warriors because once again, music is medicine and
Rockavett they just live to get that medicine to our veterans.
(11:51):
So join us. March twenty ninth, at the Shrine Black
Pearl will be hosting a benefit for Rock event. They
will be raising funds one hundred percent of all ticket
sales I believe are going to fund the charity and
(12:16):
everything they do yours truly, Adam Richmond, That's me. We'll
be hosting this event. There will be raffles and auctions
and let's not forget there's going to be a band
straight off of the Rockla Home in twenty twenty five
lineup Dime Store Riot will be headlining. Also Seven Foot Monkey,
(12:38):
we featured them on the last live stream and nine
Left Dead. It's going to be an amazing show. A
lot of rock family will be there, so just make
sure you go ahead and get those passes so or
you might be able to win some, but don't hold
your breath. Also, and we would like to get a
(13:00):
lot of love to the Rock Oklahoma Bitches. Now. These
ladies are some of just my favorite community cheerleaders. These
girls are just love to keep the energy going. They
love to support the parties. And we've been working with
the Rockklahoma Bitches for several years now and their newest
(13:25):
incarnation a couple of weeks later, they will be donning
the Redneck Bitches, so we are so glad to be
working with them. These ladies have been donating one of
the guitars that we've been giving away the last couple
of years in the Rocklahoma Scavenger Hunt, and last year
(13:47):
we debuted the Born and Raised Scavenger Hunt as well.
So we want to thank the Rockklahoma and red Neck
bitches for everything that they do for the music community.
We also want to think the big old bus bringing
a busload of debauchery tonight, and yeah, they've been bringing
(14:13):
him to Rockklahoma for several years now. It involves every year.
The party just keeps getting bigger, better and crazier. And
you can find the full lineup of events on the
Oklahoma Campgrounds Map and you can find that map exclusively
(14:34):
on it surviving Rockklahoma dot com. Remember, the Roklahoma Campgrounds
Map is a community based map. This isn't This doesn't
come from the ladies at the Rock Office. This is
something that I inherited several years ago. We expanded it,
(14:55):
we built it up, and as the podcast grew, we
made the map part of us. And once again, Darren
Pilkington has been very generous with his time and his
efforts as we have continued to evolve the Roklahoma Campgrounds
Map and we've got a ton of campsites just like
(15:18):
that host events and list the parties on the Roklahoma
Campgrounds map just like the Big Old Bus. Now. Also,
we want to recognize our proud partner and sponsor, Photography
by Angel Lee, our own rebel. Angel Rebel with a
(15:40):
Rebel with a lens has been covering Rockaholma for several
years with us as well as other local festivals, and
we've covered We've crossed the country twice to experience music
abroad and you can find her stunning images on her
(16:00):
Facebook page Photography by Angel Lee. Make sure that you
hit that like and subscribe button on her Facebook page
as well as if you are going to be tagging
or sharing those photos, please do us a favor and
(16:20):
tag that page. That's how we support our local artists,
just like we do our local music artists, is we
make sure that they get that recognition for their hard work.
And Angel's got some cool things coming up this year
as well. I can't talk about it just yet because
(16:41):
we're still getting details together, but I do not there's
something in the works and it's going to be a
really cool addition now. Also, she is a one of
the proud sponsors of Rock the Equinox as well joining
(17:02):
us Surviving Roklahoma as we support and sponsor the local
music scene, so we are so glad to be working
with Rebel now. We also kick off every show by
cracking open a cold one, and our good friends at
(17:27):
Prior Liquor Wines and Spirits, they know I love to
sample new beer's. I've tried this once before on a
past live stream and I still got more, but I
absolutely loved them. You know, I'm a I'm a fan
of all kinds of drinks and you just haven't lived
(17:49):
if you haven't had a Moscow mule yet. But I
tell you what the next best thing. You can go
to our local Lika Daddy, Prior, Oklahoma and get you
a vodka mule. This is brewed by Cutwater, made with
(18:10):
award winning real spirits, most warned canned cocktails in USA.
A mule with the kick one point five shots of
Cutwater vodka, cut water ginger beer and lime flavor. So
(18:30):
with that being said, everybody, let us know what you
are imbibing on in the comments, and with that on,
behalf of Prior Liquor Winds and Spirits, the folks who
sell the SuDS that keep me sauce cheers everybody. That
(18:53):
is definitely one of those beers that it's best cold
and this is ice cold, and oh my godsh it
is nice. I dig it all riding folks. With that
being said, we've cracked open a cold one. So let's
go ahead and crack open this show. Before we are
(19:15):
joined by our first guest. We have something that happened
in the last couple of weeks. Not me, you know,
taking the night off last Monday, but I'm talking about
a certain lineup that came out. Check this out, y'all.

Night's stand in Fist of Rage, Now that's gonna be
your Friday Night. Saturday, your headliner will be Breaking Benjamin
three Days Grace Knocked Loose. Now, I haven't experienced knocked
(20:51):

ready to be knocked loose. We have not experienced anything
like him as from what I've been told. Now, this
next band, for me, this is on a bucket list. Now,
everybody wishes that they could see Rage Against Machine again.
(21:14):
But you know what, if we couldn't get the Rage

us right here on the live stream waves. In April,
Angeles will be kicking off Saturday, now Sunday. All right,
(22:19):
I know we've seen Shine down at Rockaholma a few times,
but I absolutely love this band and I'm here for
Shinedown now my big one, the big One. I am
so excited and probably more excited than just about anybody
(22:42):
on this lineup. I have not seen this band since
nineteen ninety nine at the King's Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
It was one of my first concerts I've ever went to.
Three eleven will be playing Rockkolaholma Sunday night. Also will
(23:06):
be the Legend Bruce Dickinson Flyleaf with Lacy Sterm The Struts. Now,
if you haven't seen the Struts, you have got to

They've always got great energy. The Struts will be playing
on Sunday. Also playing Sunday will be of Mice and Men,

assume they're playing the deb concert stage also will be
Color of Chaos. Now, if you have the weekend passes,

have the weekend pass you've got access to the deb concerts,
Thursday Night throw Down, including the legend Twisted Sisters. D Snyder,
(24:39):
Hey one more time? Hey, what do you want to
do on Thursday Night? Yes. D Snyder will be making
his return to Rock Oklahoma. I think we've got a
surprise in there. I don't know. I haven't asked, but
that's uh. I believe it's a surprise. We've got something
(25:02):
to be announced on that Thursday. Also in attendance will
be Trickster Sebastian James. And we've got a couple of locals.
I want to say a huge congratulations to fellow podcasters
and local music scene enthusiasts Jenna and Scott Squires of
(25:26):
the Tulsa Music Stream. Their band Rocket Science will be
part of the Thursday Night Throwdown pre party. Also will
be Crimson Love, who has been making waves in the
local music scene lately. They have a great eighties feel
(25:46):
and they've been playing a lot of shows lately, and
I get a lot of good reviews from them. Let's
go back into the comments before we move on weekend
into VIP. Can't Wait, Yes, Amel Elizabeth, what's up? April
(26:07):
says I'm excited to see Trickster saw him in like
fourth grade. I want to get drunk and stumble around
the campgrounds. Me too, Buddy, can't wait. Billy says I'm
going full on rock star for the first time ever.
I'm so excited, you know what, Laurie, I'm so excited.

first bands that I can confirm is playing this year's
(30:55):
Rock the Equedox two thousand and twenty five. And speaking
of confirming bands, that's gonna be playing. Ladies and gentlemen. Badass,
loie brass, What is up?
Speaker 6 (31:08):
What is up everybody? How is everybody doing tonight?
Speaker 2 (31:12):
They are doing awesome? You know what a badass like that?
You need a studio audience.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
Us.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
All right, Lourie, I am so excited to discuss with
everybody one. Just man, you have been working so hard
on this festival. Tell me a little bit about Rock
the Equinox as if you'd never seen the festival before.
Speaker 6 (31:47):
Well, we started out ten years ago. This year is
our tenth anniversary. We had four bands play. It was
a one night, just a little you know, a bunch
of local guys got together and said, let's throw a
show at the lake, you know, never even imagining that
ten years down the road what we would grow into,
you know, and they just wanted to put on a
(32:10):
show that first year. I believe they charged five dollars
a ticket, and it's the only year that Rocky Equinox
has ever charged for admission. The city of Stigler sponsors
us greatly by donating the entire part to us, giving us,
you know, a space for everybody to camp for free
(32:32):
and enjoy the music, you know. I mean, we've come
a long way since that year one where we didn't
have any food vendors or anything like that. You know,
there was one year we actually cooked ourselves. I think
you remember that, I do.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
That was I think the second year that I win,
we cooked.
Speaker 6 (32:51):
Yeah, we cooked the second year or the third year,
and then we cooked I think about four years, it'll
be four years ago this year. And that that last
one that was that was nuts. That was somebody who
dropped the ball and didn't get you know, food venders
signed up to be there, so I jumped in last
(33:14):
minute and I had one coming, but they got a
flat on the way.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
So yeah, well, I tell you that that festival has
come so far, and you've been doing this for I
believe what going on ten years, Chris.
Speaker 6 (33:34):
This is our tenth anniversary show this year.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
Yeah, oh my gosh, and every year I feel like
it doubled in some regard. Maybe not always you know, exponential,
but like there's always been like it's been so much
equally better every year. Now the last couple of years,
some really amazing things came together, especially last year. That
(34:01):
was an awesome, awesome year.
Speaker 6 (34:04):
It was totally a you know, it was the culmination
of all of our hopes and dreams for this little festival.
Last year, we had you know, some really great talent
on our stage, and we had some wonderful vendors and
food trucks and so many people. I can't even, for
(34:28):
the life of me, I just can't even you know,
grasp the whole thing. I'm still kind of riding on
that high a little bit, you know, here here five
months later, and it's exciting. It's it's very exciting when
we finally get this lineup together. Every year, it's it's
just the push and a lot of a lot of
people don't understand, is it. It takes a lot of work.
(34:50):
Three hundred and sixty five days a year. We have
nine committee members. We just added Shannon Ollinger of the
Rockklahoma Big Old Bus Wow to our committee this year,
and she is already just go getting and we are
awfully proud to have her partner up with us.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Now you mentioned this lineup, I feel like if we
don't get this thing out, you're not going to have
like much of a tongue left. You just keep biting
your tongue, Lourie, tell me a little bit about this lineup.
Speaker 6 (35:28):
Well, this lineup, we have an eclectic group of bands.
We have everything from cover bands to nationally touring acts
and some names you might recognize, some names you might
not recognize. We have one band coming all the way
up from San Antonio, Texas, so that's a good trip
for them. We have Well Left on Red, which you heard.
(35:52):
I want to say, those guys are out. I'm pretty
sure they're lead singers from Oklahoma City or thereabouts, but
they're really good. You guys saw him sing with Widow
seven last year. Miles Clayburn. I always mess up his
last name.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
So I've got this lineup right here in front of me.
Let's just go through some of the names now, I see.
It's a two day festival, Friday, September twenty sixth, starting
at three pm, and then Saturday, September twenty seventh, starting
around two pmish. The bands on Friday. I've got Oklahoma, Blood, Ravens,
(36:40):
Banquet Infall, Copper Steel, She Hates Me Not the Normandy's
Rockaholma twenty twenty five band Dime Store, Riot nine Left
Dead Saturday, I've got five Body Blade, Edge Over Edge,
The Destination, seven Foot Monkey, Ring, Strength and Agony, Waking
(37:06):
the Sleeper, We Are a Rayah and once Again Rockklahoma
twenty twenty five band Fist of Rage, Kira and Left
on Red. Wow.
Speaker 6 (37:20):
Congratulations, Yeah missed one our opening act on Friday's Shotgun Funeral.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Oh I see that? My bad? Wow.
Speaker 6 (37:29):
Yes, I'm over here staring at my list saying, wait
a minute, he didn't say shotgun. And I know mister
Brisco's in.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
The in the chat, so that is fair enough. My bad. Wow,
that is man, that is such an awesome lineup, Lorie, Wow,
that's that's that's a lineup.
Speaker 6 (37:51):
And yeah, we did I think we did pretty well.
There was you know, there's just so much talent. I mean,
we had eighty seven band submit this year and we
have room for nineteen. So it's it's a lot of
work and it's a lot of you know, soul crushing,
you know, anxiety over how are we gonna do this?
(38:13):
How are we gonna, you know, get these bands on
our lineup and and get it organized and get these
guys confirmed. And let me tell you, I had every
single one of these bands confirmed in twenty four hours
because I stayed on them. That's because I stayed on them.
Speaker 7 (38:32):
You know.
Speaker 6 (38:33):
I'm just like, hey, I need to hear from you.
If I don't hear back from you, I have to
move on. So, you know, they all they all got
back to me within twenty four hours, and I had
them all confirmed. Now, I do want to say Waking
a Sleeper. They are a band that played a lot
in the area years ago. I don't know if you
(38:54):
remember them, but they they they played rock to Equinox
I think probably a year three or four. They used
to come down to Fort Smith. They're actually out of Witchita, Kansas.
And she, the lead singer of Waking a Sleeper, has
completely revamped her band, like she has replaced almost everybody
(39:14):
and has added a second female lead singer. And so
they are harmonies and they are just bad to the bone.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
Now.
Speaker 6 (39:23):
I couldn't get over the change in that band. Like
they were good, you know what, I mean, there's never
anything wrong with waking a sleeper, but they really are
going to kill it on our stage.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
I feel like that's awesome. We linked up with Raven
once before, and I did see that she was one
of the many bands that have submitted their music here
to the podcast to be featured on it. And I
want to thank all of the bands for working with
us in the podcast and giving us the opportunity to
(40:00):
be a platform to give everybody the opportunity to experience
the music that we've got coming out of this area,
and it is very much represented in this lineup. Lorie.
I've been planning my own show coming up here in
a couple of months, and let me tell you that
(40:22):
was nerve wracking just trying to fill force lots and
you know, do the local scene justice, but trying to
also bring an influence of outside and you know, a
well rounded celebration. Can you tell me a little bit
about the selection process.
Speaker 6 (40:44):
Well, as I said, in the beginning, we were you know,
really small and only you know, we had to practically
beg people to play our stages in the beginning, and
then as we grew, it got to a point where
the minute we post open submissions. We are bombarded with
(41:06):
emails like it. It is fantastic. I think I had
probably twenty five to thirty submissions on day one.
Speaker 2 (41:15):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (41:16):
And So what we do our process is this, we
get the submissions in, they send in their video audios,
They give us a little you know, backstory, where they're from,
you know what, you know, they they can you know,
they ask what they can expect, you know, as far
as playing on our stage and everything. And what we
(41:39):
do is we create a chat and I post all
of those videos in that chat, and every single committee
member will listen to every single song that is sent
in and give that band a rating from anywhere between
zero and ten. Okay. So when we got together on
(42:01):
March first to do selection, what we do is a
bunch of math and those bands that get the highest
grades get to the top of our list. As we
go through that list, we figure out all the logistics
and everything else that you know comes with it. Is
this band going to be able to come They're they're
coming all the way from you know, California or something,
(42:23):
you know, so we have to figure out, you know,
what we have to do to get them there. Sometimes
we have to you know, offer to give them gas money,
and that works out for a lot of time, a
lot of times speaking which like like the that Ravens
banquet out of San Antonio. We're we're giving them gas
(42:45):
money to get here. So it takes a lot. It
takes a lot of money up front. It takes a
lot of heart and soul. I live, eat, and breathe
Rocky Equinox three hundred and sixty five days a year,
and it's you know, it's a lot of work, but
it's so worth it in the end when we get there.
(43:05):
It's just when Saturday night closes, it's almost like it's
not relief, it's it's now we go back to work,
you know, right, and we do. We go right back
to work day one on Sunday. We have a little
quick meeting in the morning and then we tear down
(43:25):
and and we start new.
Speaker 5 (43:28):
You know.
Speaker 6 (43:28):
It's it's it is our baby. I mean, every single
person on this committee has a certain type of music
that they want to see and hear. We have an
eclectic set of people. You know, some of us are
a little bit more hardcore than some of us. You know,
some of us lean towards country, you know, so it's
(43:53):
it works out really well and the bands get a
fair shot, and I feel like we do our best
to make it fair and equal for everybody that submits.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
I love that. And you know, while I've got you
on the line, I figured, you know what, this will
be a great time to give some folks a glimpse
of Rock the Equinox two thousand and twenty four, as
seen through the lens of Rebel angel Of Photography by
(44:28):
Angel Lee. I see some amazing some events here. I
see a water slide. Can you tell me about what
you end up seeing us crazy adults do for a
good time? That was That was the.
Speaker 6 (44:50):
Idea of miss Shannon Bulger. She wanted to do a
hill billy slipping slide into the lake and it was
so much fun. And I think they're going to try
to do something similar, but I think they're gonna maybe
do things a little differently this year, and hopefully it'll
go a little smoother than it did last year. Sure,
you know, with experienced things come. And I believe that
(45:12):
the Rockavette fellas mister Christian Hopkins and mister Jason Polk
are planning an event of their own, and I'm sure
that This is going to be announced really soon. They're
what they're talking about doing is a cardboard and duct
tape boat race.
Speaker 2 (45:30):
Oh how fun. That is way more creative than what
I was thinking. I just wake up and get on
the kayak. Can call it a wake and bake on
the lake.
Speaker 6 (45:43):
There you go, there you go. Well, I'm going to
be out there on that lake in my little raft.
I'm not building a cardboard boat, but I'm going to
be out there and I'm going to go live for
Rocky Equinox while we have this boat race, so that
should be fun. We also have a little wedding going
on on Saturday morning. I believe we're doing that at
around eleven am, so that we have time between that
(46:05):
and the opening of the day and have time for
the boat race and whatnot. But miss Misty Love, who
I'm pretty sure is in the chat, and mister Chris
Koshat are going to get married, and of course I'm
going to perform the ceremony. Again, it seems like it's
becoming a tradition to have a wedding at Rocked Equinox.
Speaker 2 (46:24):
Now that is absolutely awesome. Can you tell me about
the first time that somebody asked you if they can
borrow their stage so that they can take their vows.
Speaker 6 (46:42):
Well, the first time that was that was our president,
mister Travis Davis and his now wife, and they said,
we want to get married on stage in the middle
of the festival. And we're like, if that's what you
want to do, that's what We'll work that out and
we'll get it done. And that's what we did. We
took a little intermission, you know.
Speaker 2 (47:04):
And as I'm looking through angels photos here, I see
that there's it's not just you know, a bunch of
grown ups. I mean, there's families out here, which, by
the way, I want to say, shameless plug, thank you
so much for continuously booking Adam's backyard bouncers. We are
(47:24):
so glad to bring a bounce house so the kiddos
have something fun to do out there.
Speaker 6 (47:29):
Them kids love them. Thanks so much, and we appreciate
you bringing them down in the rear. And we also
appreciate all of your support over the years. You've been
coming up since year three, I think I believe so.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
Yeah, there's somewhere in there.
Speaker 6 (47:43):
I think year three was your first year. That was
the year me and Tammy were cooking up chicken legs
and sell.
Speaker 2 (47:54):
Well once again. For you folks. To see more of
these photos, these high res photos, head on over to
photography by Angel Lee. She's got hundreds of photos and
she's also one of the newest proud sponsors of Rock
the Equinox. And you've got a whole host of other
(48:19):
sponsors as well. Can you tell us a little bit
about some of your sponsors?
Speaker 6 (48:24):
Absolutely, we have. Actually I have to add one to
your list because you didn't get We just got confirmation
from Sarah's Creations. She is sponsoring us with some T shirts,
So we obviously are paying for our T shirts, but
(48:44):
she's adding to that what we can afford, and she's
adding more T shirts to that. She's also going to
do an online store. The online store, if you order early,
you can get your T shirts for twenty bucks. You're
gonna say five bucks. Oh, I believe there's gonna be Yeah,
I believe there's gonna be a cutoff day sometime in
(49:05):
July for that. As soon as I can get to
prior and pay her, she'll get started on those and
get that store open and people can start ordering. If
you order early, like I said, you can get them
for twenty bucks. If you wait till later, they go
to twenty five and that's what they will sell for
at the festival as well. We also have returning this year,
(49:27):
we have Prior Liquor Licked Daddy. He has been a
proud sponsor. This will be his I believe, his third
year sponsoring us. Obviously you said rock Bus. We have
the Starving Artist. Lindsay is also a committee member and
she is right now working on helping us get our
(49:48):
LLC so that we can get a bank account. And
once we get all that done, then we can go
for our five oh one C, which is our end
goal is to be able to donate UH instruments to
local schools, starting with Stigler and working our way outward.
Speaker 1 (50:05):
Oh.
Speaker 6 (50:07):
We would like to someday have enough to have given
at least instruments to every school in the region. That's
our that's our angle. So that's why we want to
get our five oh one C. Once we have that,
then we can get we can get state and federal
grants to run this thing.
Speaker 2 (50:25):
That's absolutely beautiful.
Speaker 6 (50:27):
If we get those, then we'll have you know, the
money to go. Hey, we can go and buy X
amount instruments donated to the schools, so that it's all
about the kids, right, It's all about getting kids interested
in music and and and and enjoying it like we
you know, like we have always done, you know. And
(50:48):
it makes me so happy when I see all the
littles out there enjoying the live music, the bouncers all that.
That's that's like my favorite thing, seeing all the littles
out there. That just it makes me happy. Now our
brand new sponsor, the loud Spot podcast with Sebastian and Sam.
(51:10):
They are they are our stage sponsor, Scarborough Enterprises, who
deliver our porta potties. They are they are are at
your service.
Speaker 2 (51:24):
They will they will have that.
Speaker 6 (51:27):
You will be able to order private porta potties from
them and they'll put them at your campsite. They offered
them last year and I'm not sure but I think
only one person ordered a porter potty. But yeah, you
can order your own porta potty for your own.
Speaker 2 (51:41):
Camp I did not know that. We will definitely have
to bring more attention to that. That is huge.
Speaker 6 (51:50):
These guys deserve all the respect that we can give them.
They donated. We had nineteen total porta potties. Last year
delivered five of which we paid for ourselves, two of
which the city of Stigler. They have been donating porta
pottis since year one. As we grew we had to
(52:12):
have more, so the year before last we had seven total.
Last year we had nineteen and that is due to
him donating the extra twelve, So he is he is
huge sponsor. We have Shannon's custom cakes and sweet treats
and she will be back, so you guys make sure
(52:33):
you get over there and get your all of your
confectionery needs. She is. She's doubled down and given us
a bigger sponsorship this year, and we appreciate her very much.
And I'm trying to see if I've covered everybody. I
think I have and we are still accepting sponsors, So
(52:56):
anybody that wants to help keep this this festival free,
hit me up in my DMS or email us at
Rockdyequinox at gmail dot com.
Speaker 2 (53:06):
I love it. You sent me a list earlier, so
it looks like Sponsors include prior Lakers, Wives and Spirits,
the Rock Bus, Rockavette, the Starving Artists, the Loud Spot,
Scarborough Enterprises. Vendors include a Little Country Charm, Shannon's Cake
(53:28):
Gottess Custom Cakes and Sweet Treats, Night Owls, Crumb Connect
Snack Cart, Miss Tamby's Lunch Cart, Monkey Munchies and Big
CS Snackshack.
Speaker 6 (53:42):
And now you guys might remember Monkey's Munchies. Last year
was Nick's place over there. He had the elotate.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
It was just.
Speaker 6 (53:49):
Phenomenal, that's all. I had never had a low tate
in my life, and I'm telling you, I'm gonna have
to get me some again this year because that stuff
was amazing.
Speaker 2 (54:00):
And it looks like your last couple of sponsors you
added there was Canada Church of OKC And as we
mentioned earlier, photography by.
Speaker 6 (54:09):
Angelie, Yes, Yes, photography by Angelie. She has been a
proud sponsor for the last couple of years and we
appreciate everything that she does for our festival with the
photographs and you know, she's always willing to throw in
a help in hand if I asked her to. She's
(54:29):
always right there and she's an amazing person and we
love her.
Speaker 2 (54:34):
That's awesome. We love you. We are so glad that
you have continued to have us down to cover your festival.
Speaker 6 (54:42):
Free Festival folks free, absolutely free. There's one other thing
I got some got some news from the city of Stigler.
They are saying this year is the year for a
permanent stage. We'll see, but they also are putting in
more fifty amps for RB hookups and more one ten
(55:04):
outlets for all the revenders and anybody that can hook
up to one ten can hook up to one ten.
And we're getting all brand new picnic tables up.
Speaker 2 (55:15):
Ladies and brow Stigler, Oklahoma bringing the juice this year.
Thank you so much, Yes, I absolutely love it. Well, Lourie,
before zoom cuts you off, just once again, I want
to thank you so much for uh not only letting us,
you know, cover the festival and having us down, but
(55:38):
giving me the opportunity to reveal this beautiful lineup once again.
Let me go over these bands. I'm not going to
miss in this.
Speaker 6 (55:47):
There're our go to guy, bro. We're never gonna let
nobody else do it. You're the guy.
Speaker 2 (55:53):
You make guy feels special. Ladies and gentlemen free. My
mom always said so. The free Festival in Stigler, Oklahoma.
Folks on Lake John Wells, Stigler, Oklahoma, Family friendly event.
Bring your flotation devices for a day at the Lake
(56:15):
Music Free Festival. There's a bounce house. Bring the kiddos.
We've got family friendly events going on during the days,
and we're going to be rocking out all weekend long.
A couple of Rockklahoma twenty twenty five bands are on there,
some locals, some tastes abroad. Lourie, I like to give
(56:36):
everyone a chance before I let them go to you know,
just have a moment to acknowledge the audience, talk to
the folks that have been supporting your festival and everything
else you do. Laurie, the stage is yours.
Speaker 6 (56:53):
I'm going to just say this. If it wasn't for
all of you coming every year and in your and
enjoying what we do, we wouldn't have a festival. That's
point blank. Without the fans, we're nothing, absolutely nothing. You
guys make it what it is. I can't thank you
(57:15):
all enough for uh, always showing up and showing out
and doing what you do. And you guys never cease
to amaze me with your generosity. Every year you guys
come in, you buy raffle tickets, you you know, buy merch,
you do you know, uh, you tip the bands that's
(57:38):
that's like, that's awesome, you guys, You guys tipping the bands.
That's that's awesome. That's why we put the bucket up
there because hopefully they can make a few dollars and
get home on You know, most of these bands, I'm
telling you, they play for free. So if you've got
a few coins in your pocket, throw them in that
bucket on the stage and we're looking forward to seeing
you all for year numb and let's just have a
(58:02):
blast and rock out.
Speaker 2 (58:04):
Absolutely. You know, Laurie, we had you rally the troops
and I. We've got some folks that we've we've seen
here on the show, that we've played here on the show.
But there's also some fresh new names. And one of
the bands that submitted to the rock Box is a
(58:25):
new one. So I will let you tell us a
little bit about the first time that you experienced Red Echo.
Speaker 6 (58:35):
Red Echo. You know, they they submitted to us as well,
and we would love to put them on our stage.
To be honest with you, we just ran out of
space for them, but I would love to put them
on my stage. They're excellent, excellent band. I really love
those guys.
Speaker 2 (58:56):
Awesome. Yes, we had that band and a lot more
that had submitted for your festival, my festival, and we
just love a lot of them. So I've got a
feature from Red Echo that we're gonna go ahead and
bring up. Thank you so much, Laurie, thank you for
(59:18):
joining us here on this show.
Speaker 6 (59:20):
We'll see you in the comment Thank you for having me,
mister man, I will see you in the comments.
Speaker 2 (59:25):
Absolutely here is Red Echo.
Speaker 7 (01:00:00):

Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
And coming at you from the rock box. That was
red echo. Thank you guys so much for submitting to
have your music played here on the podcast. And thank
you once again Lori brass of the camp or excuse me,
of Rock the Equinox. That's badass brass to all the
(01:03:25):
rest of you, ladies and gentlemen. Give it up for Laurie.
She has done an amazing job with Rock the Equinox
for ten years they have been doing it. And you
know what, we're here at the show. We've got a
little something in common in that regard. You know, Surviving
(01:03:47):
Rock Klahoma hasn't always been a podcast. It was, once
upon a time just a simple humble Facebook page that
I launched to as a support companion as a survival
guide for my favorite rock festival, Rock the rock Lahoma.
(01:04:12):
Excuse me, and that happened in two thousand and fifteen. Now,
for those of you keeping score, that was ten years ago.
Ten years ago, Surviving Rockklahoma was born, and it was
only a short year or two later that we became
(01:04:34):
a full fledged podcast. And I am so grateful to
have had the long true support of this local music community.
I'm so proud to be a member of the local
music scene. And as a thank you and as we celebrate,
(01:04:58):
we are going to be have our own concert this
year for the first time ever. It's gonna be Memorial
Day weekend, May twenty fourth at the Shrine. We have
our lineup. We've gone an eclectic mix of local bands
that we got a few friends from abroad. We've got
(01:05:19):
some Oklahoma alms, some folks who's going to be playing
Roklahoma this year. The lineup will be coming out this week.
Just as soon as we finalize everything and get all
the graphics done. Next week, I will be announcing the
bands and dropping the lineup for the Surviving Rock Oklahoma
(01:05:42):
ten year anniversary bash. We're going to be having it
at the Shrine in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ladies and gentlemen, clear
your schedules for Memorial Day weekend this year and join
me at the Shrine. We're gonna have a Oklahoma reunion
there at and you know, I can't. I think that
(01:06:05):
is just so perfect because you know, Oklahoma has always
been a musical pilgrimage to me. Every year we go
out there and we organize and we work our extra
all year longs so we can pay for that music festival.
And when we're not at that festival, we're going and
(01:06:28):
celebrating our local music at and the Shrine is just
such a perfect place. So we're going to be doing that,
and we're going to be a telling you the bands
next week and we will let you know who will
be playing, how much the tickets are, and we'll have
all of those details. So make sure you come back
(01:06:49):
next week Monday at nine pm right here, and we're
going to give you details on our tenth anniversary bash
or yeah, as we celebrate ten years. Now you want
to be a part of it, We're looking for sponsors.
Shoot me an email Surviving Rockklahoma at gmail dot com.
(01:07:12):
Now that's something we got coming up here in a
couple of weeks. Now, before then, we've got a couple
of other things to visit with. We've had a lot
of folks that have been submitting for the Roklahoma Campgrounds
map and may see there we go. Now, if you
(01:07:36):
are wondering about the Oklahoma Campgrounds map, first of all,
the map is a community based thing. Okay, this is
something that was born in the Rockklahoma Campgrounds. A good friend,
Brian Beck took over it for a while. He passed
(01:07:59):
the torch onto me. I'm still, you know, doing everything
I can to keep it of something fun and enjoyable
for everyone to participate with. We brought on Darren Pilkington,
who has been essential in getting the map off of Facebook.
We hosted now on my website Survivingrockklahoma dot com, and
(01:08:26):
that's where you can submit to have your campsite listed
on the Rocklahoma Campgrounds Map. Now, the way to do
that is simple. You just scroll down and locate the
Rockklahoma Survival Guide. You click on that. We'll give you
(01:08:46):
a nice aerial view of the properties so you can
get an idea of where everything is at here. I'll
zoom that in for you folks, so we can so
you guys can see this. There we go. I locked
the screen. That's why. Alrighty, So as I was saying,
(01:09:13):
We've got you a big aerial view and the Rockahoma
Campgrounds map is proud UH is sponsored by Prior Liquor
Wines Experience. Thank you so much money for being such
a enthusiast and a sponsor for the all of the
(01:09:36):
going ons in the Rocklaholma Campgrounds. Now we are accepting
the submissions for the Rockahoma twenty twenty five Campgrounds Map.
All you gotta do is go to Surviving Rocklaholma dot com,
click on the Rockaholman Survival Guide and you will find
the button to add your camp to the map. Please remember, folks,
(01:10:04):
let me see if I can do this here. Please remember, folks,
before you submit your campsite to this map, remember this
is public knowledge. This everybody's going to see what you
are putting out there, So we are not responsible. Rockaholma
(01:10:27):
is not responsible if you put something out there and
then you're not wanting everybody to necessarily know where you're,
where you're camping, or where you're going to be hanging out,
all right, So proceed with your at your own discretion
on that. Now, if you're doing up your campsite and
you want to have people over and have some fun,
(01:10:48):
and you know it's like trick or treating for adults,
and we all just look around and go walk around
looking for a fun time. See how everybody's camps are decorated.
And we're all a bunch of we're all extra so
we just like to have a fun time, express ourselves
and just keep things light and festive. Now if that's
(01:11:10):
if that's your bag, now, that's fine, or maybe you
just want to walk around and see what everybody does.
Easy Surviving Wrocklaholma dot com and check out the Rocklaholma Map.
Please remember, submissions will appear on a public map. Do
not submit your KIP site if you don't want its
location shared publicly. But now, we have also recently been
(01:11:34):
doing the Best Campsite contest. We've been doing this for
several years and we've got some folks that's won several
years in a row. We've had some folks that come
in out of nowhere and win the award. And this
(01:11:55):
year we are going to continue to evolve and continue
to take yours suggestions and heed your input on how
we can make things better, and we will continue to
do that.
Speaker 5 (01:12:10):
This year.
Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
We will have the three categories Best new Camp, Best
Camp party or Event, and Best Overall camp Now. The
new camp is for the newcomers, the folks who haven't
been here before, but they just want to do it
up now. The best camp event or party, Well, some
(01:12:35):
camps like the Big Old Bus, they like to have
events all weekend long. Some of us like Camp Marti
Gras who for eleven years, we just like to party
at our campsite one night and then the rest of
the night we like to go and socialize with our friends.
It doesn't matter how you like to get down and
(01:12:57):
how you like to party. That's why why we have categories.
So with that being said, you will be able to
vote on those when we get closer to the event.
But yeah, now all of this to say, the first
draft of the map will be uploaded soon. Darren said
(01:13:25):
that he's been working on it, so we will be
getting the first iteration of the two and twenty five
map any day now. But we are still accepting submissions,
So if you would like to be listed or have
(01:13:46):
your event, we will, you can go to the website now.
In the comments, Heather asked a very good question, Yes,
this year's campsite will the ballot if if you will,
will be centered around a QR code Now this will
(01:14:06):
be one single QR code. We will release it probably
the week of or a little bit before that. A
way folks can have a chance to print it out
or put it on flyers or a sign or something
that they want to represent at their campsite. And everybody
has an easy way to vote. They can just take
(01:14:29):
up the phone and take a picture. It'll take them
straight to the ballot. So with that being said, y'all,
let's go ahead, and we will go ahead and move on.
Now I will say we've got a couple of events
coming up that we want to talk about. We want
(01:14:52):
to plug before we let you all go. Now, this
is a big event. This is coming at you from
one of our our sponsors, which by the way, folks,
by the way, if you are keeping track, we haven't
