Speaker 1 (01:46):
Stands, stands, back, spending, sick back sta.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
What is up?
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Everybody? Welcome to Surviving Rock Klahoma, your official podcast of Oklahoma.
I am your host with the Locks that Rocks Adam
Richmond and once again this is the official podcast of
Wrocklaholma and Born in Raised Country Music Festival as well.
Let me know how we are doing. Can you guys
(03:16):
hear me? Okay? How is the volume? So glad to
see all of you already joining us in the comments
ahead of the live stream. We have got a big
show figured out for you guys tonight, so once again,
let's double check make sure that everything sounds great. Thank you,
(03:38):
thank you. I hopefully by wearing the Grimlins, we won't
have to deal with any Grimlins, so maybe if they're represented,
they'll be nice to us and we'll be able to
finish out this live stream. Last time, our live stream
got caught off a little bit early because we featured
(04:01):
a lot of live a lot of music here and
unfortunately the algorithms tend to catch some of those sometimes
and we get the occasional flags. So if you all
are experiencing any issues with your Surviving Rockklahoma Facebook subscriptions,
(04:22):
please bear with us. We are waiting for that stuff
to be rectified. Yeah, to make sure that we get
that stuff fixed. So in other news, well, you're so
glad you guys are joining us. It has been a
long month. It is festival season, y'all, and you all
(04:46):
are two thirds of the way through. But due to
unforeseen scheduling conflicts, my schedule is, uh, we're done. Unfortunately,
I will not be making it to this to the
Rock the Equinox this weekend. We're going to talk a
little bit about that here a little bit later on
in the show. But we are so glad to be
(05:10):
finally recovering from Rock Oklahoma and born and raised country
music festival. My let me tell you going out there
that first week during Rockklahoma in the rain, and then
dealing with that the allergies from that, and then going
(05:31):
back the week after or two weeks later and dealing
with the heat and the dust and dealing with the
allergies from that. Man, my voice has took a it
was like sandpaper. So we definitely needed the week off
so that we can get everything in order so we
(05:51):
could go live for you guys and the audio could
be palatable. So before we get into the show. Let's
go ahead and talk about our sponsors, the fine folks
that help sponsor the show or produce the show. We
want to first up give a shout out to DEB Concerts,
who answers the question what do you want to do
(06:13):
with your life? And rock who did inside of the
Roadhouse stage and he seemed like he had a bit
of an influence on the Renegade stage as well. So
we want to give a huge shout out to Doug
Burgess of DEB Concerts for everything he does for the
(06:35):
local music community as well as the Roklahoma experience. So
thank you so much, Doug, as well as his supports
in the Road to Rockklahoma series where we got to
set down not only with the owners of Rocklaholma Sharon
and Dave, but Sebastian Bach and lead A Ford as well.
(06:59):
You can find those interviews on our YouTube channel. We
also want to give a huge shout out to At
Your Service Rentals. Uh guys, these are the guys who
put up with all of our shit, y'all, and they
did a stellar job at Rocklaholma and Born and Raised.
(07:21):
I'm gonna say, you know, the restrooms that we used
in the areas that we used them. They were cleaner
than they had ever been that I can remember. So,
Brett and all the Pooh crew guys, you did an
amazing job this year, as well as facilitating all of
(07:43):
us who rent our own portable restrooms for campsites and
swimming pools too. So remember, folks next year if you
want uh, make sure you squat in confidence. You don't
want to be like that guy wandering in the dark. Kay, buddy,
what are you doing over there? Yeah? You didn't call
(08:05):
at your service rentols. Now, we also want to give
a shout out to the Rock Oklahoma bitches. But you
know what, I got somebody who wanted to give a
shout out, hey to my alsie friends over there. Bitches
absolutely loved hanging out with Snake Bite Whiskey and they
(08:31):
are an amazing group of guys and they had so
much fun keeping the spirit alive just like the Oklahoma
bitches do. And you know what they the Wronklahoma bitches
also donated getuitars for us to give away in the
Scavenger Hunt, not all, not one, but two guitars. The
(08:53):
Scavenger Hunt guitar for Rockklahoma. One of those guitars was
donated by the Roklahoma Bitches. They donated the yellow one.
This one is the one that was donated by Justin Hoppey,
but they donated a yellow one that was looked just
like this one and we got it signed by a
(09:13):
bunch of artists. Now, they also donated one for the
Born and Raised Country Music Festival and we got that
one signed by a bunch of artists two as well.
So we want to thank the Roklahoma Bitches for being
such a huge part of making the scavenger hunts happen,
(09:34):
not only for Oklahoma, but Born and Raised as well.
As well as a special thank you to Justin Hoppey
and David Henderson aka the Flamingo in George Washington aka
the Founding Flockers for pioneering those scavenger hunts. You know,
we also want to give a shout out to photography
(09:57):
by Angel Lee. You know, Angel has been covering Roklahoma's
with us for four years now and she has been
bringing some amazing sights of Roklahoma. But she also joined
us this year and there's our desk at Born and
(10:18):
Raised Country Music Festival. Wee had an absolute blast and
she had an absolute blast for her first year of
Born and Raised, and she said she will definitely be
coming back. So we appreciate everything that Angel does for
(10:39):
us here in the show. She's not only a proud
sponsor my favorite photographer, but she's also a proud partner
in the podcast. So make sure you head over to
Photography by Angel Lee on Facebook and check out some
of her sites. From Born and Raised two thousand and
(11:04):
twenty five, this is the first set of those photos
that she dropped, but she's got all kinds of albums
as well, and one of her favorite things to cover
is the people of rock olaholm of the real rock Stars.
So I tell you what, If you folks see yourselves
(11:25):
on a photo from Photography by Angel Lee, tag yourselves,
tag your friends, but always remember to tag your photographer.
Once again, that's photography by Angel Lee. We also want
to you know what, Angel is not only a proud
(11:45):
member of the rock family, but she is a proud
veteran as well, and that's why we also love to
work with our good friends at Rockavet, who believe music
is medicine and their mission is to facilitate getting that
medicine to as many veterans as they possibly can, and
(12:05):
we've given away over two hundred, going on three hundred
passes to rock festivals and events abroad. So remember, folks,
if you know a veteran, if you are a veteran,
if you've got a special veteran in your life, you
know what. And it's not only just limited to veterans,
(12:26):
it's also open to active servicemen and first responders and
Blue and Star Gold families. So remember, folks, if there's
someone that is putting their life on the line serving
their country, make sure that they know about Rockavet because
we would love to honor our warriors. Oh and also
(12:51):
speaking of they've got a really cool event coming up
Memorial Day weekend two and twenty six, and they are
looking for bands. So if you're in a band and
or if your band has a veteran member, they would
(13:12):
love for you to submit to play their Rockavet event
Memorial Day Weekend twenty and twenty six. Submissions for bands
with VET members. That is r Okay a v e
T One at gmail dot com. So remember, folks, if
(13:36):
you are if you know a band that's gotten veterans
in the ensemble, make sure that they submit to play
Rockavett's Memorial Day event coming up two and twenty six. Now,
we also want to give a shout out to the
(13:57):
Big Old Bus bringing a busload of debauchery to a
festival near you. They came, they saw, they conquered Rock Lahoma.
We had an absolute blast hosting the second annual Lip
Sync Battle at the Bus Saturday night at Rock Klahoma.
And guess what, folks, if you missed them, you still
(14:21):
got a chance. They will be at Rock the Equinox
this weekend with a whole host of events, all kinds
of cool stuff, and this time it's going to be
family friendly, because as you know, Rock the Equinox is
a family friendly event, So they've got things going on
during the day and then of course they're going to
(14:42):
have some fun at night, and it's going to be
an absolute blast. I can't I am sough. It's weighing
on me so bad that we're going to be missing it.
But we've got some amazing things going on here at
home that I cannot yes. So that means all of
(15:02):
you guys are going to have to throw one back
for me, each of you. So you guys do it
upright and make sure that you take care of each
other at the Big Old Bus this weekend in Stickler,
Oklahoma at Rock the Equinox. You know, we also want
to give a shout out to another one of our sponsors,
(15:24):
Paul atte Hass. Remember, folks, don't just get you a house,
get you a house that kicks hoss from the realtor
that rocks. She will also be making appearance with both
her bands, Dime Store Riot and Fist of Rage this
weekend at Rock the Equinox, the tenth annual Rock the
(15:46):
Equinox two thousand and twenty five. Dime Store Riot and
Fist of Rage will be playing Paul It'll be slapping
the base for both bands. But remember, folks, if you're
looking for a place to upgrade your downgrade or just
looking for a change of pace, you want a different
type of real property, well give Paul at a call.
(16:08):
She can put you in a house that kicks hosts.
And we also, folks, we want to give a huge
shout out to tannem Bomb Graphics. Thank you, Casey for
all of the graphic design you did for us. That's
not only Oklahoma, but for the podcast in general. Will remember, folks,
(16:35):
if you would like say some surviving Oklaholma merchandise in
the comments of this video. We've got a couple of stores,
one from tannem Bomb Graphics where you can get your flags,
you can get your banners, koozies, you can even get
you some shirts. And he absolutely knocked it out of
(16:58):
the park this year with the all camp Sites T shirt.
Now things will be working a little bit differently for
that T shirt this year, but it was a lot
of fun picking up that torch and carrying it this
year as we filled that void. But I don't know
(17:23):
what the T shirt's going to look like for next year,
but we decided to go ahead and take that up
for the year because we didn't want anyone to have
to go without one. And I believe Fallon will be
back this next year, so we should be collaborating with her.
(17:44):
I think for the all camp Sites T shirt next year.
We will see it's super early on that one, but
you can still get your twenty twenty five shirt by
visiting that link on tanem Bomb Graphics. We've also talked
a bit about veterans. You know, our prized photographer Angelee
(18:07):
is a veteran and we are proud partners with RockA Vet,
but we've also got some good friends a veteran owned
business and rock family owned business, metal Core Clothing that's
been making our T shirts this year, So we want
to give a huge shout out to metal Core Clothing.
You can also find that link in the comments as well.
(18:33):
So with that being said, everybody, for this last sponsor,
I think everybody should go ahead and get your drinks
handy if you haven't already, because before we officially crack
into the show, we've got to crack open a cool one.
And I don't know about you guys, but I get
my SuDS from Prior Liquor Wines and Spirits, the liquor
(18:55):
daddy of Prior, Oklahoma, and he is They are the
folks that sell the SuDS to keep me sauced. So
I tell you all what, I haven't had very many
since born in Reis, So I think it's time to
jog my memory with a little drunk election and you
(19:16):
guys can do that with me. So on behalf of
all of our sponsors and Prior Liquor Wines and Spirits.
Cheers everybody. It's already it's starting to come back to me.
It's starting to come back all the fun we had.
Let me tell you, man, Oklahoma was an absolute blast.
(19:40):
We had a little bit of time to talk about
it a couple of weeks after Rockklahoma, but to be honest,
Roklahoma was such a blur for us. We had so
much going on that weekend between debuting the.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Booth, doing our interviews, and.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Experiencing our access as much as we could possibly do it.
And you know, because we were going so much, we
missed a lot. But you know, we also got to
see some once in a lifetime experiences. And we talked
a little bit about it on the last episode about
(20:24):
getting to experience firsthand. Sebastian Bach and Leada Ford, and
we didn't really get enough time to talk about debuting
the radio booth, and it was an absolute dream come true.
Whenever we first walked in, we opened that door and
we saw that empty booth and you know, four years
(20:49):
ago when we were initially approved for one and we
weren't quite ready, we walked in and it was like
walking in to you know, your first office or something
of a new job. You don't have any furniture, you
don't have anything to put in, and you're like a
little overwhelmed. You know, things didn't happen that year, but
(21:14):
this year we made our debut. We we were where
we needed to be.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
It was our time.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
We had our scavenger hunt, we had the podcast, we
had all kinds of things that we are the best
campsite contests that we were doing. We had all of
these things that we were able to serve as a
hub in our radio booth. And this year in the Rain,
(21:45):
mind you, we pulled an amazing crowd for that guitar
giveaway and we're talking over seventy people in the Rain
to see who won those signed guitars and the scavenger hunt,
(22:06):
and we had other folks dropping by throughout the day. Now,
it was very much a learning curve. I know, a
lot of folks came by and it was kind of
hard to catch us. But you know, when you are
everywhere and nowhere at the same time, it's really hard
to keep tabs on this. But we still managed to
get several interviews and you can find all of our
(22:27):
interviews on our YouTube channel. And we also were able
to still get up on some side stage and acts
as well as we got our first taste of being
up on an actual Rocklaholmas stage thanks to eternal Frequency,
and it really was the best year I can think
(22:52):
of for us as a media outlet. It was just
absolutely insane and plus not only that, you know, normally
when I we're at Rockklahoma, we don't get to interact
with the fans as much. So being in that booth
and able to conduct some interviews while folks were watching
(23:16):
as we conduct those, when we figured all of that out,
it was just such a trip getting to see let
the fans come in and see us doing our things.
So next year we will definitely be doing a few
things different. But you know, every year you do anything
(23:37):
is a learning experience. You take notes, and so next
year things are going to be a little bit smoother.
We've already got some ideas with how we are going
to do things. Hopefully next year we will be able
to have some help as my daughter and her girlfriend
came out for the first time ever. So I was
(23:58):
so excited that my my eighteen year old daughter, Kayla,
got to see me at work and see me doing
all of the things I do at Rockklahoma and kind
of share the experience with her and let her see
some of the areas that I get to see and
that was that was a big one for me. So
(24:20):
that was a first and I'm so excited about that.
You know, we talked a bit about the Scavenger Hunt
guitars and I showed you one of them last week.
I've got to get this one back to Daniel. I
was going to see check this here, we gotta I'll
throw them up here on the big screen. Check out
(24:41):
these guitars that we got signed. We got a we
got a red and a yellow one this year and
the yellow one was donated by the Rockklahoma bitches. And
we've got the red one, which was a bass guitar,
(25:02):
which was the first time we've ever given a bass away.
Now we've got all kinds of awesome signatures in here.
Now ooops, the big one is Leader Ford. That's the
one that takes up most of the guitar and rightfully
so we've also got Crimson Love the Band, Feel, the Struts,
(25:26):
Fan Halen, Eternal Frequency, Mike Tramp from White Lion, and
we've uh, let's see, we've also got yeah, we got
the Struts in there. But yeah, it was a lot. Oh,
we got sneak Mike whiskey of course to sign. Aaron
Jones signed, and basically everybody that we interviewed signed. So, uh,
(25:52):
these were are always so much fun when we put
these things to get other Now.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
A funny story.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
So Daniel said. So Daniel one the first two years
of the Scavenger Hunt and he said, hey, man, if
if I don't win or if I win this year,
I'm going to retire. Well, Daniel didn't win, and they changed.
They changed the way the thing operates, you know, to
(26:28):
level the playing field.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
And you know it works.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
We got two new winners, but you know it's still
going to one of them is still going to the
witness household. So but it was definitely definitely well earned.
And look at that. She was so excited. Now the
other one also has a proud winner. Now they have
(27:00):
both agreed that you know, these these are not things
that you're going to find on Etsy or resell or anything.
These are once these are priceless memorabilia that's signed by
Roncklaholma artists. So part of us getting to do this
(27:23):
is under the agreement that you guys keep these forever
and they stay in the family. And we want to
thank each and every one of you guys for participating
in this contest, because not only does it give me
a chance to chase these artists, but I get to
feel like I'm giving back to all of you fans.
(27:46):
So I am so honored to be able to give
these grand prizes away as part of the Scavenger Hunt.
So once again, congratulations in a huge thank you to
Justin Hoppey and David Henderson, the founding Flockers. You know,
we also had another contest that was going on and
(28:12):
I didn't see Angel correctly. If I'm wrong, if we've
got those photos out, I'm sorry. I just now thought
about it. But we had a couple We had another
contest going one that we've been doing for several years
now and it's called the Best Campsite Contest, and we've
(28:36):
been doing it through the Campsite Map, and we launched
this six years ago mainly because as someone who has
been doing a campsite party for eleven years now, we
wanted to recognize folks that go all out to provide
(28:59):
a party or of something fun for folks, to keep
the atmosphere of fun and lighthearted and you know, just
give place people a place to party because doing all
these big campsites is it's not cheap, it's and it
(29:20):
takes a lot of time and personal of investment, and
we wanted to make sure that folks are getting their recognition.
So we launched the Best Campsite Contest a few years ago,
and you guys have kept it going, and even when
we kind of wondered if we should still keep going it,
(29:43):
the fan demand has always been out there through the
campgrounds Map Facebook group. So I want to give a
huge thank you to Darren Pilkington for keeping helping me
keep that thing going and a huge, a huge, huge
thing going. Excuse me, we had to pop up there.
(30:06):
And another huge things to Monty the licadaddy of Prior, Oklahoma,
Prior Liquors, Wines and Spirits for being one of our
sponsors of that Best Campsite contest. Now we had a
couple of winners. Now this year we had the best
(30:26):
New Camp and they they took this category by a
large portion with fifty four percent of the vote of
eleven camps. Thundercocks won the best New Camp category and
(30:49):
they won that one like by I think ten percent,
almost a handful of votes. To be honest with you
and the Best Campsite Event Party or best event or
(31:09):
Party with out of thirteen camps that were nominating with
fifteen point five percent of the vote, winning it by
literally a handful of votes, camp EFN working on it,
So congratulations to Camp EFN working on it for the
(31:35):
best camp event now out of twelve camps including that
the best New Camp, Best Event. These are campsites that
were nominated and submitted to Surviving Oklahoma dot Com in
the Oroklahoma Scavenger Hunt. We had the QR codes circulating.
(31:58):
The best overall camp this year was Thundercox once again
with eighteen point three percent of the vote. So yes,
congratulations to all of you folks for participating in the
Best Campsite contest. You guys were absolutely awesome and we
(32:22):
can't wait to see what you all do next week.
So with that being said, Joel, we've talked quite a
bit about Rockklahoma, and one of our favorite things to
do whenever we work at Roklahoma is to talk with
the bands. So I tell you what, we've got an
(32:44):
interview with some of folks that we absolutely love partying with.
We talked to him a couple of years ago and
we were so glad to see him on the lineup
again and coming out you from one of our favorite
bands from Australia, Ladies and Gentlemen, Snake Bite Whiskey.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
I am your host with the Socks that Rocks.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
This is the official podcast of Rockklahoma, Surviving Rock Oklahoma,
and I just survived an amazing performance from some of
my friends from the opposite side of the freaking planet.
Welcome back, Snake Bite Whiskey. Let me tell you, guys,
(33:56):
you guys get better every time I see you.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
I just love what ten you all perform.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
You guys played here once before, and once you guys
came back. You guys have been back every year, whether
you were playing or not, and every year from now on.
Speaker 5 (34:12):
This is our spiritual home away from home.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
This place the home away from home.
Speaker 4 (34:19):
So tell me a little bit. How's how's your year
so far?
Speaker 5 (34:24):
Fucking that it's been a big year. Two new guitar
players in the band, and we've embedded ourselves in this
freaking one. We've we've done a two Japan, We've got
two new singles out, We've got almost an album ready
to go for next year. It's just been freaking amazing.
(34:47):
Just and then to be able to come back here
and almost finish off the year like later in the
year down here Rockaholm. It's been fucking so much fun,
so much fun.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
Tell me a little bit about that performance you had
the crowd exploding, guys, tell me about performing here at
Rock Oklahoma in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 6 (35:07):
Yeah, anyway, it was Yeah, it was fucking good. Man
like they fucking yeah, like what everyone's here's the fucking legends.
Speaker 3 (35:15):
You just fucking yeah, how do you say it? Yeah?
They fucking Rocott.
Speaker 6 (35:27):
Yeah, so Rocott two years ago we played, Yeah, it
was good, it was fucking amazing, But today it was
fucking double that. It was fucking yeah. It was so
fucking good. The crowd or fucking amazing. And when you yeah,
when you're playing and you've got that pocket, you get
in the pocket or fucking I don't know if you
understand what I'm saying, but because I'm English, but you're
(35:51):
in that pocket with a crowd and you know it
and you just fucking it makes every It elevates everybody,
like you.
Speaker 5 (35:57):
Know, this is a real rock and roll crowd here.
We play all over the world. We've done lots of shows,
lots of shows, but walking out there today not one
hundred percent sure what to expect. Within four and a
half seconds, we're like, this is our fucking place, this
is our fucking place to play. Because every single one
(36:18):
of those people in that crowd gave it as much
as we did. And that vibe, that power, that energy,
that's what that's what thrives us.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
That's why we do it.
Speaker 5 (36:26):
It's a long way from Brisbane, Australia to come and
play here. It's a long way if you want and
we and we it's absolutely worth it. Like we loved
every second of that. Every person came out, everyone gave
it their energy, people knew the songs, hands were in
the air, and that's why we do it. That's why
(36:46):
we do it. It's freaking amazing. Rockaholmer is a seriously
incredible crowd and we fucking love it long.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
It is great.
Speaker 6 (36:53):
But we're just saying, for anyone that's watching out there
that's an organizer, we need to be on a bigger
fucking says fuck or not next year, but in a
few years because.
Speaker 3 (37:05):
Europe next.
Speaker 7 (37:08):
Yeah, Europe do Infinity and beyond.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
I have no doubt you guys are going to be
on a made stage and it's just a matter of time.
And speaking of time, you guys are putting it in
a lot of time in honing your craft.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
Tell me a little bit about your sound.
Speaker 5 (37:24):
Like, we work hard for what we've got. We work
really fucking hard. But when it comes to the stage,
we're a balls to the wall rock and roll band.
We are an old school band where there's zero technology
in what we do. We turn our mds up as
fucking loud as we can and we play rock and
roll and that's what people respond to. People don't want
all the other bells and whistles and all the other
(37:45):
shiny shit. That's it's real. It's real rock and roll,
and that's why our shows are fucking awesome and that's
why people have a great leg.
Speaker 4 (37:52):
What how do you guys put all of this together?
Speaker 3 (37:55):
Like, how do you You guys are everywhere and I
love it, but at the same time, you got to
put something together for music and everybody's got to be
on the same page.
Speaker 4 (38:05):
How do you guys lock it all yet?
Speaker 2 (38:07):
Time?
Speaker 6 (38:08):
I think like, if you like talking about how we
kind of develop the sound and ship, it's like this
right together, it's just about ideas. We fucking somebody all
come with an idea, we'll fucking build on that and
we fucking that's how it grows. So we wrote too,
so when when these idiots fucking joined, so we were like, okay,
(38:34):
so these two comes joint and we're like, fucking what
we're gonna do is release some songs with these guys playing,
because they're playing fucking ship that we fucking wrote before.
So we did that two standalone singles, fucking Tombstone Blues
and Living to Die, which is the last one. And
(38:55):
that's so one was one was his Tombstone Blues and
then the other one is his Living to Die, which
was a passion project for him. Like fucking so yeah,
and now we're obviously right in the album. But yeah,
it's it's like a fucking organic, fucking process. You just
come with rifts and we fucking jell it out from there.
And like I can tell, like when it's somebody will
(39:16):
play a riff, like we wrote songs off his bass lines,
You'll be like he's playing something. I'm like, dude, what
the fuck are you playing? It's like, oh, it's just
my warm up fucking rioff. I'm like, no, man, that's
a fucking song, like fucking and you build it up
from there.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
So yeah, that's how.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
We do it.
Speaker 8 (39:32):
Organic ig that we're.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
And you guys, you guys have been doing a lot
of traveling since you've been back in the stage. You
guys played here in Tulsa a week or so ago,
and you also played for your what second time at
Whiskey a Go Go spectacular.
Speaker 6 (39:58):
It was brand the fucking Hill and we fucking slaid
it and we were only fucking rock and roll band.
It was all heavy metal ship, which is not ship,
but I'm just saying it was. And we were like
a different flavor. We're like halfway through the night and
people loved it because now because we do what we do,
we fucking we're just a good time, fucking rock and
(40:21):
roll band, you know what I'm saying, Like fun first,
fun first.
Speaker 4 (40:26):
I diget, So tell me what is next?
Speaker 3 (40:29):
Like, you guys got something else, you're going to be
a dropping out and dropping on us.
Speaker 2 (40:33):
So we got we got.
Speaker 5 (40:34):
One more show on this tour, last last show. We'll
leave here and we head to Nashville, so we've got
one more show there and then make the long trek
back home, try and get our ship together after after
three weeks on the road, and then yeah, it's it's
we got We've got a bunch of shows before the
end of the year. We're playing a few festivals. We
got some really good gigs coming up back home in Australia,
(40:55):
which we're super pumped about as well. And it's album
out with an album where we are the demos are flowing,
the riffs are flying, the JD is flowing. Will put
all those things together and put an album out by Yeah,
we'll put an album out next year and it's going
to be awesome. And hopefully once the album's done and
out and people are digging, the new new tunes will
(41:16):
come back.
Speaker 3 (41:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (41:18):
We're kind of talking about what touring for next year
and that, and obviously we haven't done Europe for a
little bit, so we might go back there. But we
want to come back to the fucking states Man. Fucking yeah,
we we love it. Play Rockahomer, We'll play the fucking
game Ground.
Speaker 4 (41:35):
Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 9 (41:37):
And this trip, this trip we've come back, made more
companions on along the way with other bands and stuff,
so we've opened up other opportunities for other gigs and
other shows, stuff like that, other dates in New Orleans
and places like that.
Speaker 7 (41:49):
So yeah, hoping to get back soon.
Speaker 4 (41:51):
I like it.
Speaker 3 (41:52):
So, you guys, you're so at home here on this
in the States. So when you get back home over there,
what's the first thing you guys do when you get
back home the Australia.
Speaker 5 (42:05):
Sleep for a month, sleep from.
Speaker 3 (42:12):
Kangaroo.
Speaker 4 (42:21):
Hello, check one too.
Speaker 7 (42:23):
So I'll probably slept Kelly up a little bit, that's.
Speaker 4 (42:33):
What he does.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
So so before we start wrapping things up, I will
You know, you guys always have of the best stories.
You guys have always anytime something's fun is going on,
there's my snake bike whiskey. Friends, you got you got
(42:56):
a favorite story thus far from this weekend that you
can share. Whoa, whoa, whoa whoa.
Speaker 5 (43:03):
All these people watching, that's a pretty fun story.
Speaker 2 (43:12):
He did.
Speaker 5 (43:13):
He did get paddled on the ass in front of
about two hundred people in the campgrounds.
Speaker 3 (43:21):
It's red.
Speaker 5 (43:21):
It's very red down there, I do. That's that's the
most tame story we have that we can give you.
Everything else is uh And it's.
Speaker 3 (43:36):
The thing about Rockahomer for us.
Speaker 6 (43:39):
So everybody always says, like obviously we were touring band
and ship like that. But we want, we wanna even
if we were multi platinum selling fucking artists. We were
saying the campgrounds because that's where it's fucking real, man,
That's where everybody is fucking cool and.
Speaker 3 (43:56):
Fucking you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (43:58):
So nobody wants to fucking.
Speaker 3 (44:01):
Hang out backstage ship.
Speaker 6 (44:02):
We want to be out with fucking everybody else and
fucking partying and that for us. And honestly, man, Rockahomer
is the best fucking music festival in the whole fucking world.
It's the only place you have this fucking community. It's
unfrecking believable. Man, Like fucking.
Speaker 5 (44:21):
We've ever twenty four to seven.
Speaker 4 (44:23):
There's no predicton.
Speaker 2 (44:25):
We're out there with everyone.
Speaker 4 (44:26):
And just having and drinking and having the best time.
Speaker 5 (44:30):
You guys, you guys have something really special here in Rockahoma,
really really special.
Speaker 4 (44:36):
I want I want everyone to know hang on.
Speaker 5 (44:39):
To this because this ship is fucking real. This shit
is real. Protected at all costs. The reason we come
all the way here because this is a family and
it means a lot. It means a lot to us,
and it means a lot to everyone we meet on
the way you guys hold on to it because it's
really fucking incredible.
Speaker 4 (44:56):
I absolutely lad that, and you know what, we totally agree.
Speaker 3 (44:59):
And this is one of the first years since I've
been coming to Rockklahoma that they said, you know what,
we don't need a franchise, we don't need corporate We're
going to do it ourselves. We have something special and
no one's going to tell us what to do. We're
going to give the people what they want. This year,
we are proudly proclaiming this is our Rock Oklahoma when
(45:21):
it comes back every year.
Speaker 5 (45:24):
We're coming back every year every year.
Speaker 4 (45:27):
Absolutely, you know what, and that's I think that you guys.
Speaker 3 (45:33):
I don't think I could have said any of this
any better, you know And I want to give you
all a chance to directly acknowledge your fans, the people
who watched you out on the deb concert stage, the
folks who stream your music on the streaming platforms snake Bite, Whiskey,
the stage is yours, so.
Speaker 6 (45:54):
To everybody everybody that watches today and everybody watches on
the whole tour and where the fun we play and
fucking follows us on social media like fucking ship. You're
the fucking reason we do it right that that is
where it's at. Fucking We do this ship to make
fucking hopefully improve, make people fucking happy man, and play
(46:17):
some fucking real rock and roll for fucking everybody.
Speaker 5 (46:21):
Thanks everyone, it was the best time ever. We love
you all. Thanks so much for coming out rocking out
with us. It was such a good time.
Speaker 3 (46:29):
Is it my turn?
Speaker 5 (46:33):
Just love, love so much love.
Speaker 4 (46:41):
It's all right, guys.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
Thank you so much for setting down and thank you
so much for hanging with me all weekend long.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
I am looking forward to finishing.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
Out strong this man that knows me as the Cherokee
that loves to party, and thank.
Speaker 4 (46:57):
You for carrying on my and over there with.
Speaker 3 (47:01):
All your friends. Fuck yeah, all right to folks. So
for Snake Bite Whiskey, I'm Adamitzman. You're a host What
the Locks That Rocks. This is the official podcast of Rockklahoma,
Surviving Oklahoma and until next time.
Speaker 4 (47:16):
You know what, We're going to change it up because my.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
Guys are here.
Speaker 3 (47:20):
Ozzy, ossy assie. And that was our interview with Snake
Bite Whiskey. Thank you so much to all of the
guys for sitting down with us, not once but twice,
and we are so glad every time that we see them.
They're so much fun to hang out with. And uh yeah,
(47:44):
you guys check them out on all of your social
media platforms, all your streaming platforms. Normally, this is b
where we play some music, but unfortunately, due to the
copyrights that we've suffered in the line couple of weeks,
we are going to have to strip back the amount
of music that we play. So we got a lot
(48:07):
to cover, and we are going to go ahead and
talk a little bit about Born and Raised before we
cut off the live stream. But once again, thank you
so much. If you enjoyed that interview, go check out
all of our other interviews on our YouTube channel and
make sure that you hit that subscribe button. Now. With
(48:29):
that being said, j'all, there was also another festival that
happened a couple of weeks ago. Yes, this episode is
going to run a little long, folks, but we are
so glad that you guys are in the comments with
us and participating. We'd love to see each and every
one of you guys. Yes, we covered Born and Raised
(48:53):
Country music festival here a couple of weeks ago, and
that festival is so different from Oklahoma, and not in
a different is in a good or a bad way,
just it's different. You know, us Rockklahoma this is like,
you know, a oky version of Sturgis Man. We go
(49:14):
wild at Roklahoma. But Born and Raised is a little
bit different, folks. It's a little bit more laid back
in the way they experience the music. But lord knows,
they still know how to party and if you go
to those campgrounds, you know all about f and around
and finding out because they also have been doing a
(49:38):
huge party for several years now. And we want to
give a huge shout out to Crystal and all of
the gang of Camp FAFO. We're going to censor a
little bit because the all seas we're here, I think
they probably took up about all of the F bombs
that I can drop in a live stream without getting flag.
Speaker 4 (50:02):
But yeah, this year.
Speaker 3 (50:03):
At Rockklahoma, Angel was able to join us this year
and she had an absolute blast, and we experienced the
media tent this year. We were in the radio booth
for Rock Oklahoma and we loved it. We loved and
interacting with you folks. But the thing about Born and
(50:24):
Raised or the radio booth is a little bit harder
to pick up interviews, and we had a lot of
fun in the media area at Born and Raised, but
we were still only able to get a couple of interviews,
which is fine because you know what, we were there
on a mission not only for interviews. But we're networking
(50:45):
as we are preparing ourselves to launch a country edition
of our podcasts. So that's right, we are adding another
show into our lineup. I know I've been talking about
it for probably well, let's be honest, I've been talking
about it for over a year now. But you know,
if I'm going to do something, I'm going to do
(51:07):
it right. So if you would like to check out
a country version of our podcast for as we do
Born in Raised Country Festival and we cover red dirt
and local country artists, tell me shoot us an email
and drop in the comments. What is a good day
(51:28):
in time do you think we got? Monday nights at
nine pm is our night to rock out, So when
is a good time for us to go live with
a country edition where we feature local country artists and
feature their music as well, just like we do for
(51:48):
the rock community. I will say that we did interact
with quite a few artists at Rock Born and Raised.
Excuse me, one of our good friends tan or Usrih
we get to hang out with every year. We also
were interacting with a lot of stars as we were
(52:12):
assembling the Born and Raised version of the Scavenger Hunt guitar.
And we've got Lord Knows, ladies and gentlemen. We got
a lot of signatures, and I do want to give
a huge congratulations to Abigail Fox for winning that Born
(52:39):
and Raised Scavenger Hunt geuitar and folks, it was an
absolute blast obtaining these signatures and she was so over
the moon. She worked so hard for that guitar. And
(53:01):
here is the guitar right this is during the final act.
We got a couple of other signatures after we awarded it.
We got Uncle Lucius, Silver Rada, excuse me, Silver Redo.
We've got Randy Rogers and Tanner Usrie. We've got Shelby,
(53:30):
We've got Josh Weathers and who Will. We got one
of the band members from the Cody Jinks. We've got
the Smoking Oats and a few other Parker McCollum, who
was one of the headliners. Absolutely gorgeous guitar. Thank you
(53:54):
so much to the Red Neck Bitches aka the Rock
Oklahoma Bitches for donating that guitar, and yes, that scavenger
hunt was an absolute blast. Once again, thank you so
much to photography by Angel Lee for helping us acquire
all of those signatures. And once again, thank you to
(54:18):
Crystal and all of the folks of Camp f Around
and find Out for organizing the scavenger hunt for Born
and Raised this year. You know, we also you know,
there was also some stuff that happened at Born and
(54:40):
Raised that went that went viral, and I have been
really on the fence on whether or not I wanted
to discuss it, but you know it, honestly, it's everywhere
and one of the great things about my media access
and doing what I do and the partnerships that I've
(55:05):
arranged with all of the other artists and such. I was, man,
I was right there, folks. I mean I was side stage.
I knew something was about to happen. I was visiting
with another gentleman that I had been networking with and
(55:26):
we were working on getting some more signatures on the guitar,
and I had just arranged about three more signatures, including Gambriella,
Rose Hudson and Yes, of course Zach Bryan. Now, I
(55:47):
have known a member of Zach's family for several years
since the first time he played back in I think
twenty twenty two wasn't and I'll be on. I had
never had the opportunity to meet him, but you know,
I've been networking with mutual sources. We'll just call it
(56:08):
at that. And anyway, I was in position, we were,
you know, making arrangements. I was. I had a time
where they were all going to come over to the
media area. Unfortunately I had to make a trip. I
had to. I had to run an erin that I
(56:29):
could not put off. So I had to leave the
area where I was at and I was looking at
the guy and I was like, dude, something's about to happen.
I can tell you my Spidey things since its tingling.
I even showed him the hairs on my arm. They
were standing up looking down at Angel. It's like, girl,
we got to go run this er and something's about
(56:51):
to happen. Though I don't want to leave, so you know,
I caved into responsibility. I went and took off and
made the arrangements, and so I was only gone for
like forty five minutes and so as we were starting
to go back to the media area to meet up
(57:12):
with everyone, that's when the stuff went viral. That's when
we started seeing it on Facebook and all of that stuff.
And if you are watching this podcast, if you know
anything about Born in Raised Country Festival this year, you've
seen the videos of what went down, and as far
(57:33):
as opinions go, I have none to offer it. Honestly,
it has nothing to do with me. I will say
that in all of the parties, none of them are right.
I think to some degree just about everybody can see
some sort of why they would do the things that
(57:57):
they did. But guys, I mean it's you just kind
of have to take it at what happened. And fortunately
nothing they weren't able to lock up and with nothing like,
no one was charged, there were no risks, nothing like that.
It was a dust up. But you know, take a
(58:19):
lesson from what the lesson is. And folks, if if
something doesn't pertain to you, I just suggest keep it
out of your business, because, like one of the camps says,
one of these days, you're going to fuck around and
find out and I'm going to leave it at that,
because I don't need anyone jumping over the fence after me,
(58:39):
But that's just me. But it was entertaining and I
will say it did generate a lot of interest on
all parties involved. And I think a few of the
songs that some of them have are very ironic for
what all happened. But you know, never a dull moment
(59:00):
these festivals. But yeah, I missed it by that much, folks.
I wish. I don't know why what I would have
done if I had seen it, but probably nothing. But wow,
you'll jump over well, thank you Casey. Just boy, he
cleared that fence and no time flat. I will say,
(59:23):
I mean he was open over it once he made
his mind up. So that was about pretty much all
I'm going to say on the incident. Like I said,
I don't know either parties. It's really not any of
my place to say. But you say stuff online, eventually
(59:44):
somebody is going to get tired of it. So I
really I think that's pretty much what it was. Now.
With that being said, there are the Born and Raised
Campgrounds is just absolutely awesome. Guys. There are a couple
of parties that have been growing in several years. We've
(01:00:06):
talked a bit about them camp FAFO. You can imagine
what that stands around stands for Camp f around and
find out I have been notified this year that it
is going to be their final year, that they're not
going to be back next year, which to me is,
(01:00:28):
you know, it's very bittersweet because when it comes to
the born and raised campgrounds, I mean, these people throw
a party. We're talking hundreds of people out there, and
they do such a great job of maintaining the crowd,
keeping everybody entertained and having fun and safe and managing
(01:00:53):
all of the overflow in the traffic. The crystal and
everybody involved with camp f a FAFO is they're all
just you know, top notch in my book. Now, there
was another campsite that made their debut this year, and
(01:01:13):
it's called Camp Wild Wild West, and this campsite had
an awesome temp. They had a stage in there and
they also had a couple of pull tables and a
cool even roping thing going out there. I had a
video and just didn't have it pulled up here for
(01:01:34):
the show, but they told me that they're passing the
torch to Camp Wild Wild West, and from what I
met of the folks at the campsite. I mean they
they're going to do it upright, and I can't wait
to see what they do for is next year. Now,
(01:01:56):
remember Angel did drop her first batch of Born and
Raised Country Festival photos. You can find those images on
photography by Angel Lee. Remember, folks, if you find yourself,
be sure to feel free to tag yourself, tag your friends,
(01:02:19):
but always remember to tag your photographer as she absolutely
loves to capture these moments and capture you all as
you are experiencing the bliss that comes from these concerts
and the live music at Born and Raised in Rock
(01:02:40):
Klahoma music festivals. Now, like I said, we didn't get
very many interviews at Born and Raised, and that's fine
that we had other things that we wanted to accomplish,
and we accomplished everything we wanted to. But one of
the interviews that we did get was a good friend
(01:03:01):
of ours that we've been partying with for the last
couple of years. And it's always, uh, it's always fun
to catch up with Tanner Usrie. I'm your host with
(01:03:31):
the Locks that Rocks Adam Richmond, and this is the
official podcast of Born and Raised Country Music Festival. Surviving
Born and Raised and I am joined by a gentleman
I met a couple of years ago. We spoke with
him a few minutes years ago. But we still party
every year. Oh yeah, ladies, gentlemen, how's it going, man,
(01:03:53):
going well?
Speaker 4 (01:03:54):
How you doing great?
Speaker 3 (01:03:56):
Great?
Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
Yeah? I feel so good.
Speaker 4 (01:03:58):
It hurts, feel so good, it hurts, it hurts.
Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
So yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:04:01):
Yeah, yeah, So tell me a little bit. Uh, hou
was born and raised so far for.
Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
You, it's been fun.
Speaker 10 (01:04:06):
I got in last night. Obviously, I made it out
to the campgrounds and like I usually do, and uh,
part of it everybody, it's always it's a fun time.
Speaker 3 (01:04:16):
Man made it in and barely made it out. Yeah,
but we're still here to do it, Yeah, for sure.
And you come back every year.
Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
Yeah, I try to.
Speaker 3 (01:04:24):
So you know, we spoke to you a while back
and uh, now you're obviously in a different place. Yeah,
you're elevating. Man. Tell me a little bit about the
journey from joining us a couple of years ago to
this year.
Speaker 10 (01:04:38):
I mean, I mean, I just I've just been on
the road, just playing a bunch of shows, just just
listened to brand new record that I'm really really super
proud of. And uh, it's been grinding.
Speaker 2 (01:04:51):
I think.
Speaker 10 (01:04:53):
Bands getting tighter.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
Everything's everything's good now, you, my friend.
Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
I saw you as a guest to feature on a
part of a performance.
Speaker 10 (01:05:02):
Last Yeah, I messed up the words.
Speaker 2 (01:05:05):
It's all right, Yeah, it's okay. It happens.
Speaker 3 (01:05:08):
But it was still awesome to see you joining them
on the main stage.
Speaker 4 (01:05:12):
Man, So how does something like that happen?
Speaker 3 (01:05:14):
Do they just like, hey, man, we're gonna do something special,
come out and rock with us.
Speaker 10 (01:05:18):
Me and Sam we're friends with the treatou guys. So
I just was like, hey, god, same.
Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
Song with you.
Speaker 10 (01:05:25):
Yeah, you might see me on a couple other sets too.
Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
So nice.
Speaker 4 (01:05:30):
Nice.
Speaker 3 (01:05:31):
So tell me one ant, what do you currently have
going on for you right now?
Speaker 10 (01:05:36):
Like I said, I just released a record back in July,
so we are currently touring on that. We are halfway
through the tour, and then I'm gonna start writing again
and start releasing more music.
Speaker 4 (01:05:47):
Start writing again.
Speaker 3 (01:05:49):
Alrighty, So you've got something like are you already feeling
the inspiration?
Speaker 4 (01:05:54):
You know where you're kind of wanting to do for
the next one?
Speaker 10 (01:05:56):
Right now, I'm just kind of toring. I think I'm
gonna do a bunch of singles. Think that's the name
of the game.
Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
I guess.
Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
Now, do you feel like it's something that like I've
got to set some time, I've got to do this,
or they just kind of like a diary.
Speaker 10 (01:06:12):
Songs just kind of come to me. I can't really
set aside time. It's it's hard for me to do that.
It's hard for me to focus that, right. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:06:19):
So now that you've had, you know, some years experience,
you've been touring, you've been doing a lot of collaborations,
do you have any that you're particularly excited about at
the moment.
Speaker 10 (01:06:29):
Obviously the Beautiful Eyes with Ella Langley is pretty sick still,
even there's a couple of years ago, but it still
badass because he's doing so well. I got to write
a song with Wade Bowen and put that on the record,
so that was pretty cool. I'm super proud of that.
Wade's like the reason I play music.
Speaker 3 (01:06:48):
So yeah, so what's that like somebody that has inspired
you so much? And now it's not so much we're
on a different level. We're now equals.
Speaker 10 (01:06:59):
Becoming peers and friends with like my heroes. Has been
the craziest thing about this, Like go to Canada and
Wade and Randy Rogers and and Cody Jeeks. It's just
it's cool, man, It's it's cool to calling my friends.
Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
Absolutely, So how do you all feel about the genre today?
Red dirt and country and like finding your way onto
mainstream radio.
Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
It's uh.
Speaker 10 (01:07:25):
I think this is like the biggest genre of music
right now. It's that left the center country music. H
It's real music.
Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
So it's cool.
Speaker 3 (01:07:34):
And you know that's something I've I always loved so
much about red Dirt. You know, I love all genres
of music, but for red Dirt especially, it's all about
the story. Yeah, and telling the stories of your experiences
and you and I we love to be out and
experience everything we can, and so I always.
Speaker 2 (01:07:53):
Know that you don't want to miss nothing. Yeah, I
don't want to miss anything exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:07:57):
You got always got that fear of messing out. There's
something going on. Oh yeah, absolutely, Now speaking of we
don't want to miss out on anything that you've got
