Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to seven Minutes Sunday on the Switch Pivot
Quick podcast. I'm your host, so Yanna Angel, and we
are going to spend the next seven minutes together getting
you filled up with inspiration and goodness, of course, to
get your mind primed to achieve greatness as you enter
the week ahead. We are still talking about the psychology

(00:20):
of playing small, right, We're getting into the mental side
beyond just the phrase quit playing small. And today we're
going to be talking about the Sunday scaries and the
possible solution. I know this used to happen to me.
It was like a Sunday night and I would feel

(00:41):
this unease and my stomach. Some might even call it
like a pit, that creeping anxiety that you might feel
as Monday morning starts to approach. Have you ever felt that?
Like I said, I'm all too familiar with that feeling.
But what if I told you that that feeling isn't

(01:02):
something that you should be trying to push through, get
on the other side of and just power through. It's
something to in fact pay attention to. What if your
Sunday scaries are actually your internal compass trying to give
you directions? So today we're talking about how to decode

(01:26):
what your weekend anxiety is really telling you about your life,
about yourself, and about maybe your next steps. But the
longest time, I really thought Sunday scaries were just part
of being a responsible dope. It's something we all have
to feel. It's something that we all dread Sunday night

(01:47):
rolling into the next week. I just thought it was
the norm. Everyone feels that right, that heaviness when the
weekend ends. I convince myself it was normal, natural, until
I realize that there are people who do not feel
this way. Some In fact, there are even people that

(02:08):
you may admire. After interviewing hundreds of people for this
podcast which privulor quit, as well as doing personal development
work and working with people individually, I came to realize
that some people actually get excited about Mondays when they
love what they do. I also realize that Sunday scaries

(02:30):
aren't this universal given and this natural human experience that
everyone has. It is a symptom of misalignment. Your body
is more sophisticated than you will ever know. Your internal
GPS and navigation system has all of the clues. It

(02:51):
knows the difference between what may be challenging work that
energizes you, and challenging work that may be drained you,
intopletes and takes away from you. It knows when you're
growing versus when you're just grinding it out and in
that hustle survival, maybe even mentality. And every Sunday, your

(03:13):
body is giving you a report card. So let's break
it down. Because Sunday scaries are your internal GPS. We
know now, So I think your Sunday scaries are trying
to tell you one of three things. They're trying to
send you a message. Message number one may be that
you're not engaged. If your Sunday anxiety feels like boredom

(03:38):
dressed up as dread, your GPS is telling you that
you're underutilized. You're capable of more than what Monday through
Friday is asking of you. So that means there isn't
a problem with your work ethic. It's a problem with
your work alignment. You need to be challenged more. You

(04:01):
need to invite more creativity into your week. You need
more opportunities that use your natural skill sets that you
feel good about. Message number two that your internal GPS
could be sending you is that you're not growing. The
message is glaring saying you are not growing. If your

(04:24):
Sunday anxiety is all about the sameness that you don't
want to repeat, it feels like dread the same problems,
the same conversations, the same actions, the same routine, everything
is on repeat. Then your GPS is telling you that
you've stopped evolving, You're maintaining instead of expanding. And this

(04:47):
type of angst comes from being way too comfortable for
way too long. Message number three, you're not authentic. This
is a big one, and I know that that can sting.
If your Sunday anxiety feels like you have to put

(05:08):
on a costume that you don't want to wear, then
your GPS is telling you there's a gap between who
you are and who you have to be Monday through Friday.
In essence, you're performing. You're giving them a version of
yourself that doesn't match internally, your truth and who you are.
And all performers they have a limit, they have a

(05:30):
max out burnout and you need to turn it off
at some point. And maybe that Saturday and Sunday is
just not enough recovery time for you. So let's think
about how we can offer ourselves some actionable solutions. Because
now we've started to identify some of the sources, let's
figure out what we can do on the other side
of that. Instead of pushing through the feeling, get curious

(05:55):
about it. Ask yourself, what specifically am I dreading? Is
it the peace, people, the projects, the pace? Maybe the purpose?
Is it that I'm not challenged enough, or that maybe
I'm challenged in ways that don't align with my strengths
so it just feels unnecessarily hard or ridiculous. Then ask

(06:17):
yourself if I could change one thing about my Monday
through Friday to make Sunday evening feel a little lighter,
what would that be? What would I change? Your answer
to all of these questions, that's your roadmap, not necessarily
calling for you to take immediate action, but for you

(06:39):
to start strategically planning. Maybe you need to have a
conversation with your manager about taking on different types of projects.
Maybe you need to start building skills that align with
where you actually want to go. Maybe you need to
start exploring what authentic success looks like for you. Want

(07:00):
you to remember this Sunday scaries aren't something to endure
and push through. There's something for you to decode. It's
an opportunity there instead of a barrier. So this week
I want you to challenge yourself with a little investigation.
Next Sunday evening, instead of distracting yourself from the anxiety,

(07:22):
I challenge you to do what the hard thing is.
It's what my previous therapist used to encourage me to do.
Sit with yourself, sit with the feelings, feel the feelings,
identify and name the feelings, but don't like take on
the feelings right. Ask yourself these specific questions. What exactly

(07:45):
am I dreading about tomorrow? Is this about the work
itself or how the work makes me feel? And last question,
what would need to change for me to feel neutral
or maybe even excited about Monday? Write down your answers.
Don't judge yourself, don't judge the answers, don't try to

(08:07):
solve them immediately, just document You're gathering intelligence about your
own internal guidance system. After you've done this for a
few weeks, your patterns will start to emerge, and patterns
give you power to make strategic changes instead of just
living for the weekend making decisions haphazardly in the moment.

(08:31):
You will start to identify areas for you to be
able to improve and make changes. So remember this. Your
anxiety isn't your enemy in this case, think of it
as your advisor. Next week, we're talking all about the
difference between shrinking to fit and expanding to lead, honey,
and why your gifts need room to in fact breathe.

(08:54):
Ha ha ha, let it breathe. Thank you so much
for spending time with me today. I appreciate your presence.
I hope you have an amazing week ahead. I know
that you might be listening to this on a Sunday
and the scaries feel what scary? But you got this.

(09:14):
There's a way to the other side, and you just
need to take the time for yourself to be able
to work through it. All right, I will talk to
you next week, and until then, be well.
