Tables for two table tables, table tables for two.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
We are at yunkies constitute of sounds, and it is
definitely going out.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
It's gonna be the premier night of the Scratch League.
And we got the one and only Baboo right here
on one of the mics. What's up?
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Thanks for having me on. Thank you guys for coming
up and setting up shop over here, fellas.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Thank you for having us. Yeah, we're excited about it.
Speaker 7 (01:30):
It only made sense.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
I'm sorry I didn't like thank you guys right off top,
you know, but I'm glad we connected. I'm glad you
guys are able to come over here and bring the
podcast live to you from the b j als graduallyguard
to our debut like night of the season. So uh,
super excited.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Yeah, just like just like you said right now too.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
So this is gonna be the start of a season,
so it's gonna be like all summer long type of deal.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Like for sure, it's gonna be going on.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
So this first season takes place over so we have
these monthly So the next one is the first Saturday
of June, and then July will we'll we'll close it out.
But in a perfect world, we have sixteen competitors in
the first night tonight, we're gonna be like narrowing it
down to eight head to head scratch battles hosted by
Lotus of the Lost Home Pros, and uh, from there
(02:15):
those eight, we'll move on to session two and we'll
narrow it down to four. And session three we around
the Season one champs, so we got a five hundred
dollar cash prize. We got goodies from uh, we got
goodies from jet Pack, and I believe I'm working on
some goodies from our friends phase. So yeah, it's it's
(02:36):
just U and in all that series, it's just a
lot of fun. It's more of a hangout, you know.
We we uh got got some some tacos here and
some some delicious drinks, and we got open turntables with
flip flop, we got straps and Jesse Dean and in
the open format hosting a portable session out here in
the back. So it's more just h the school, like
(02:59):
you know, where else we can find know these damn
turntables and mixers and enough space to to sessh out
and hang out with other cutters and stuff. So as
much as it is about the league and the battle
and all that stuff, it's it's really more about like
getting up and cutting it double folks, and yeah, you know,
just getting us out of just relying on our social
(03:19):
media and getting stuck behind screens, you know, actually come
out and cut it up and hang out, you know,
so yeah, you're in Glendale, come through you know, yeah, yeah, yeah,
looking at at our instagram beat Chunkies at beat Junkie
Sound or actually it's at beat chunkiesound dot com for
everything about our school. We're at fifty one thirty San
(03:41):
Fernanda Road in the city of Glendale. But yeah, fellas,
I'm excited for tonight, glad to have tables for two here.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
I actually made a couple tap tags for for all
of them too, So on your guys as a by register,
I put yours up there and I think, but your
Instagram is for the school.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Is beat Junkie iOS.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
Be chunky hous you know better than me. I was
over here like telling you the website. But yeah, at
each Junkie iOS on ig for sure for all the
latest updates on the school and events coming up for sure.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Yeah, because you guys just you guys just had a
graduating class that just graduated.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Too, just had graduation last Sunday. Congratulations to our Wednesday
Foundation class, mister Chalk and c Los and Analog. They
really turned out another amazing group of DJs. So we
celebrate down the road here in Glendale at the brew
Yard shouts out to the brewyard. Our folks over there,
so we take over the brewery for an afternoon and
the you know, another group of students made their DJ
(04:35):
debut and they all killed it, so shouts out to them.
But yeah, you know, the school is as much as
it is about like you know, what happens in the classroom,
Like we we try to provide a lot of you know, events,
and it's really more about the community, you know, those
students here. Like I've seen classes go from knowing nothing
to becoming really capable DJs. And these classes now form
(04:58):
their own crews. They were their own nights. They they
have their own gigs, their own websites. It's like it's
like wild and just like a few years ago, I
remember them coming in here just with a love of
music and really no knowledge, and you know, it's really
amazing to see.
Speaker 7 (05:13):
So but yeah, come through the school. We're here.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
You know, if you want to start your DJ journey,
you know where, you know where it begins.
Speaker 8 (05:20):
So yeah, I know because at the Harfest. Yeah, they
even shouted the Tiny Humans. They did a whole set,
so they they we said, yeah, Babs he uh, he
helped us put all this together and I was like, yeah,
that's what's up.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
No, those are those are those are my literal DJ
kids right there, shouts out.
Speaker 7 (05:37):
To the tiny humans. So proud of them.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
But uh yeah, they've all been training with us for
the better part of six years.
Speaker 7 (05:44):
I think they were.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
They all started pretty early on with us opening the school,
and I remember them when they were all little kids.
But obviously they're not such tiny humans anymore. They're they're
all grown up. They set up and have their own
routines and rehearse and get out and wreck these rec
these shows, man, and you know they're actually they originally
(06:05):
started as our kids class, and you know, this group
showed more than your average interest, you know, and we
started just building a class called you know, you know Advanced,
uh you know b JOS Advanced Kids program. So it
was either like you know, like you couldn't just jump
into this class. It was just like kind of our
(06:25):
traveling team here at school if anything, you know. So
you know, they they quickly evolved into like literally our.
Speaker 7 (06:31):
Most advanced class.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
Like I like, if this is like school school, like
they're learning. They're over here learning calculus and trigonometry and
chaos theory, you name it. They're like teaching like the
most advanced things I can and and you know, it's
it's amazing, like all the work they put in and
seeing last year, like all the kids compete and you
know actually two of them, uh taking the the LA
(06:53):
heat first and second place and then going to a
us DMC was just like it was like such a
such a milestone for the crew, for the whole school and.
Speaker 7 (07:01):
The crew, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
So but uh yeah, shouts out to Tiny Humans man,
like we work hard every Saturday and get it in.
Speaker 7 (07:08):
And uh, shouts out to all of them. I should
shout them all out.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
Shouts out to sorry cuts, baby Bee, Wolf, Pup, Mamba
is low ll am.
Speaker 7 (07:20):
I forgetting anybody.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
I hope I'm not forgetting anybody, but shouts out the
Tiny Humans crew.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Hell yeah, yeah definitely.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
When when we had them on, we were talking about
it and like just watching how they were their whole
stage performance from like them doing like the it's.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Time routine and it was like all stop playing.
Speaker 8 (07:37):
Yeah they jug I was liking it. Juggles how they
was going in well, Sabi did ho thing too.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
It's like back and forth.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
I was like, yeah, okay, yeah, it's wild, like because
I'd say, maybe, you know, two three or years ago,
I might have been like literally, you know, I got
their skills to a certain place, but there was no
other way to teach them other than to like make
routines with them or you know, early on, make routines
almost for them, help them figure out and science things,
you know, even give them the records.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
You know.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
So that was like three two three years ago, like
they were doing things like that. But like I can
genuinely say, within like the last year, it's like they're
bringing their own ideas, they're formulating their own patterns, they're
they're they're you know, they're interpolating lessons that we teach them,
they're putting their own twist on things, and it's just
it's just amazing to see they all just like really
(08:27):
get it. It's it's it's crazy. But yeah, I'm looking
forward to this this battle season. You know, a bunch
of them again are are going for it. And but
a great bunch of kids.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Man.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
I can't say enough about them and their families. They really,
uh are super deer in the school family at this point,
they've been with us so long and you know, yeah,
a couple of them, Like I think with Sabbi is now,
Oh I didn't shout out with Sabby, shouts out to
with Sabi.
Speaker 7 (08:52):
That's what I forgot. But she's she's.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
A you know, she she won the dmc l A
heat last year and she's also just started this year
at UC Riverside.
Speaker 7 (09:04):
She's a college student.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
Baby Bee is starting in fall at the UCLA Music
Program as a DJ, which is amazingly mind blowing, you know,
like she got in on the strength of what she's
posted on Instagram and whatever she's submitted in her grades.
Speaker 7 (09:19):
But yeah, she's super proud of her.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
And yeah, all the kids are not, like I said,
they're not such tiny humans anymore. They're like fully fully grown,
crazy DJs now. So it's really exciting.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
I like the bond they have with each other, to
the bond is great.
Speaker 9 (09:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
They they worked hard, you know, and we really pushed
them and they've they've just they just they're a little
family too, you know, like that the points are it's amazing.
I'm like very hands off, and you guys saw it
as the best festival. Like that was the one where
I literally said I'm not gonna be all up in
the mix. I'm gonna actually kind of like see what
happens if I just step away and let them like
(09:55):
handle the whole thing themselves. We've been practicing them hosting
the show, but I think they're still so used to me,
you know, Like I said a couple of years ago,
it might have been like, if we use multiple laptops
on stage, one of the laptops would be mine, like
the main setup, and and maybe it's my control vinyl,
and then two of the other kids laptops for the
turntable three and four. But now it's like it's all them,
(10:20):
you know. They have to roll up to a gig
and they all have to be be e clip with
their own needles, their own control vinyl, U phase whatever dongles,
power chords. Everybody has to have, like just in case,
even if we're only having three turntables, everyone brings a
their computer with the same file, just in case someone
(10:40):
computers take a ship. There's always like someone ready to go.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
And that's the thing too, like just as being a
DJ or or anything, like you're gigging around, like you
just saw I think Jewels came over and he was like, yo,
do you have an RCA? Eight at quarter inch plush,
like you always need something like someone like.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
Yeah, we have to almost be like our own engineers
as well, you know, and you know, and so anyways,
SFS Fest, I kind of got lost, you know, five
minutes before they were about to perform, they're starting to
set up. I just kind of like dipped into the
shadows and kind of dipped way back in the in
the forest of the park.
Speaker 7 (11:11):
And it was it was amazing.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
Like, I mean, the performance is one thing they did,
They did amazing, but just to really see them really
professional communicating like fellow professionals about their ship. I mean,
like I was so impressed on where they got their
sound levels at and making sure watching them make adjustments
for each other other drums are a little too loud,
let me reach over and just the homies drum really quick,
et cetera, et cetera. And you know, and like I said,
(11:35):
I used to host the whole show, now they're hosting
the show.
Speaker 7 (11:38):
They wrote their own little bits on like.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
Things to say, like so, yeah, I'm super proud of
those those fools. They're they're amazing on the cut but
tiny humans, oh yeah.
Speaker 9 (11:48):
Man shout out to prolifics man for putting that together.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Definitely did his thing, putting the whole thing together. I
was excited to see the B boys too, and then
the tiny humans were out there getting their B boy
on too.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
I was like, okay, you know, and I also did
I shout out Isla.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
I think you did.
Speaker 7 (12:04):
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
See this is this is the trouble with shouting people out,
like you miss him and then you feel horrible.
Speaker 7 (12:10):
I didn't shout out is Low.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
He was probably the one getting busy as well, because
he's before he was a DJ, he was b boying,
so it's amazing. It's like full circle circle for him
because now he DJs for Bee Boy ciphers now, you know,
but he still dances and stuff. But uh, he was
the one who also went to the us A final
last year. Is Low he's the newest tiny human.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
He got second place.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
I was telling him when I when I heard him
throwing the gang star and he was like, is the real.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
I was like, oh, stop it, stop.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
It, and like, you know that's all him too.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
I may mean that.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
I mean when he debuted that like a few weeks
ago in class when we were rehearsing and he did
it and he did.
Speaker 7 (12:46):
Like I was just like, wow, all the nuance.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
Like it's like it's technical, yeah, but like all the
nuance and the flavor and the bar count like in
the structure of it.
Speaker 7 (12:54):
Like I was so impressed he.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Hit the breakdown.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
Yeah, and then even the whole no Fader part, Like
I didn't teach them that. All the body tricks I got,
I definitely didn't teach them that because I don't I
don't teach that, you know what I'm saying. But yeah,
like it's really amazing. Like you know, it's like in
the Matrix when you know, when Neil first gets plugged
in and he's sparring with with uh Morpheus, you know,
(13:19):
and you know they're doing martial arts and at one
point Morphius steps back and there they to catch a breath.
Speaker 7 (13:24):
Morpheus is like it's like you think that's the air
you're breathing.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
Now they're improvising, making, you know, interpolating, and and you know,
Kean is like, I just get to shut the fuck up,
you know what I'm saying. You know, Like That's where
I'm at with the kids right now, you know, like
like I'll stop and being odd. But you know, but
but I better not stop and pause too long because
I'm getting sliced and diced up left and right by
these fools.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Man.
Speaker 4 (13:44):
But but yeah, if you haven't see the Tiny Humans,
check them out. They're gonna be performing uh May tenth
this Saturday at the La County Fair.
Speaker 7 (13:55):
So they're getting down, all of.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Them are uh doing uh they're they're uh, they're a
performance at around six am on Gosh, I'm forgetting all
the details.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
But yeah, I think it's called like fresh Fest or
something like that, right.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
Something next fast, next Fest. Thank you, we'd see team working.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Yes, hey, we got it.
Speaker 4 (14:16):
Check them out at the next Fest stage. It's Saturday
the tenth on around six pm. But the Tiny Humans
are going to be getting down showing the art turntablism
and hope you guys are get to catch them.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Yeah, so that's that's a little bit something.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
I mean, if you guys are looking into getting into DJ,
head over to the be Chunkies and s us the sound.
Because as much as you put into this, you never know,
Baboo could be talking about you in a couple of years,
a year, You never know, because I mean that's very much.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
That's really what it is. When when it comes to
DJ and if you're not going to.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
Put the work behind it, it might not really go anywhere.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
But if you do, I mean, it's that hours.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
It's that body memory, that muscle memory that gets you.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
I'm promising.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
I mean, we we do everything we can to support
and and break things down and and make sure you know,
people are having fun here, you know, on their journey.
Speaker 7 (15:06):
But you hit it on the on the head, ADM.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
It's like that's what we tell all of our classes,
Like attending class is great, but you know, to be
really successful, you got to get into student practice or
or have a set up at home and put in
those hours a lot of the things like you said,
like it's always comprehensions, just like half the battle. But
like you know, we're teaching things like like how to
(15:29):
use our ears different you know, having our hands independently
do different things at the same time. And you know,
like you said, it's a lot of muscle memory repetition,
just sitting there and putting in hours by yourself. Like
there's a certain amount of by yourself time you need.
Speaker 7 (15:42):
And you know, some people are faster than this.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
Some people it takes a lot of help, and it
takes and the and the and the by themselves time.
But you know, here here at the school, like we'd
love to have you part of our community. We make
this a struggle, a good struggle, a fun struggle, right
and uh yeah, come through and see us.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
The one thing that I did appreciate too, when LTP
hosted the open deck session. You guys always have open
decks on here on Fridays and stuff. And I was
watching the mister Chalk and flip Flop and they were
going over it. And the thing that I wish I
would have done, like back in the day when I
first started scratching, was really head for the Amberdextrious thing
because they were like, Okay, now we're gonna go to
(16:23):
the left.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Now we're gonna do the right, and I was just like, damn,
I need to do that.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Yeah for sure, shouts out to mister Chock and Flop,
But yeah, yeah, you just witness a little part of
every one of our classes. Because so as much as
like you know, we start our students on vinyl and
and all the scratch techniques, we teach most of them
all the way up to the transform. We require everyone
to do on both hands. So like we might run
(16:48):
a drill, like we might be working on something like
the baby scratch, and we start off on one hand.
You know, after like I don't know, twenty four or
thirty two bars of working a progression, you're gonna hear
mister chock say switch, and everyone knows to stop that
turntable they're on. Quickly get queued up on the other
side and pick up the drill on the other hand.
Speaker 7 (17:04):
You know so, and I hear you so.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
I wish someone would crack the whip on me back
in the day because I totally leaned toward one side.
And you know, as a scratcher, I think at the
least you got to be able to do all of
your scratches on one of your hands to be successful.
I know, we all get to the point where it's like,
oh man, these scratches on this hand, forget about it.
But these other scratches on this hand, I'm the king,
(17:28):
you know what I mean. And you know I remember
being that fork in the road. No, you know, but
you get to that fork in the road, you got
to decide the one way you can go. Would say, hey,
I feel like I'm gonna put everything on my left hand.
On the record in my right hand on the fighter,
let's say, you know, but then you know, I implore
everyone and I still work on it myself. I mean,
I never hearts to be able to do it on
(17:49):
both hands, and you know, my right hand on the
record left on. I have most of my basic scratches,
but when I started getting to transformed territory, that's where
it's rough. But I do have a simple transform and
a one click player happening, So I'm pretty proud of myself.
I'm working on it a little by little, day by day.
It's not gonna be anytime soon that my right hand
is going to be a hand I choose to do
(18:09):
a scratch solo or jump on the long to gone
confidently yet with But you know, I really encourage everybody,
like I look at amazing DJ's like Craze or even
more recently shouts out to my brother Revolution like I
haven't seen red cut in a while, and I'm like,
you know, he told me, like, hey, I'm really dug
in and work on my other hand. As to the
point where he's at the point now where he doesn't
know which hand is better, you know, talking to like
(18:32):
a og like DJ scratch. One of my biggest influence is, like,
you know, I'm asking him about old records. He can't
even remember what hand he did it on because he's
so ambidextrous. He couldn't even tell you if I do
this scratch better on this hand or I don't. He
doesn't even lean to one hand. He's just fully capable
on both hands. So some not that we can always
strive for.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
So Yeah, and then if you guys check out the
be Junkies YouTube channel too, Revolution is full of set
from Nam is up on there too.
Speaker 7 (18:57):
He got busy this year.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
Yeah, yeah, shout out to everybody that jointed or watches
on Twitch. But yeah, shots after that's my dog.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
The lineup that you guys put together on that man that.
Speaker 7 (19:07):
That was cracking, bro, Thank you.
Speaker 4 (19:08):
No, it's it's a it's a labor love every year.
You know, we just love highlighting all the dope DJs
in the community and like you know, they're all friends,
you know, like to to. I think in any of
the kind of uh setting, like the lineups that we've
been lucky enough to carrate on another stage would probably
equal hundreds of thousands of dollars to make that happen
(19:32):
and facilitate that, and it's really just on the generosity
and the love of the culture that you know, all
our friends. When we send out the Bee Junkies symbol
in the sky, they come through, you know, you know,
and you know, I think we it's something that we've.
Speaker 7 (19:46):
Been doing with our brothers jet pack bags. Dang. I
think this is like maybe our shoots eighth year.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
I think we started doing this when we opened the school,
so we must have been doing this since twenty seven
team with a jet pack and it grew toed just
us having a little booth and having people do sets
to now where we have it to where we have
that big ass screen and you know, we're powered by
all of our amazing sponsors like Alpa Theta and Jico
and Serato, and our stage is a little bigger, and
(20:17):
there's you know for some for some for a bunch
of people, like well jet Pack selling stuff.
Speaker 7 (20:21):
But we're up there.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
We don't you know, we have really no business at
NAM except for the cultural impact and just creating a
place where we can like really highlight people we think
who are moving the culture forward.
Speaker 7 (20:33):
And we're fans of as DJs as well.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
You know, in the beginning it was it was a
little bit more about the be junkies. But as time
went on, we realized, like you know, getting older and
us teaching more and sharing more and becoming elder statesmen.
Speaker 7 (20:48):
You know, we we let that NAM Jet Packed booth.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
That we do turn into like the real place where
we could celebrate because great DJs that that we're lucky
enough to call our friends. And like I said, I've
never we've never had to pay anyone a dollar to
be up on stage with us, and it's like such
a blessing and honor and but yeah, it's something I
look forward to every year. Us and and jet Pack
work really hard to put it together, from you know,
(21:13):
logistically to all the sound and lighting we do and
just coordinating everything and working with people's schedules. It's a
it's like I said, it's a labor of love, and
it's always a.
Speaker 7 (21:24):
Great feeling after we have.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
A good NAM and that three or four days of madness,
it's always worth it, you know, with all the DJ
memories that that we've been able to make and and
and share with people on it's been dope sharing online too,
like like just streaming the whole thing from our booth.
I don't think any other booth was trying to do
that as well, you know, shouts out to all the
other boothts. I love that about Nam going around and
(21:47):
seeing all the new ship and seeing all the equipment
and talking to the people who make it. It's it's amazing,
you know. But you know, on the low key, it's
like it was a kind of a David and Goliath
kind of thing that was going on with with the
jetpacked be Chunkies booths versus like the giants like Alpha
Beta or any of these other people, and he's giant boots,
and I think before it used to be kind of like,
(22:09):
I don't know if they were very fond of us
being there and like creating these big crowds and like wolupt.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
Week because everyone kind of just gets all up in
the stage because like I mean, the crowd is like
really really big in front of the be Junkis booths.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
You guys haven't been out to Nam.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
And just as we're talking about Nom, I know something
else is coming up too.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
I believe it's in a week or so.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
But he also killed his set when he was out
there at your guys' boots Scratch Bastards Barbecue is coming
to all Yeah, and then be Junkys are gonna be
out there too, So.
Speaker 4 (22:38):
For sure that's our brother shuts out the bastard that's
coming up on Mother's Day, May eleventh, the.
Speaker 7 (22:42):
Day after the kids rock at the Fair.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
Uh, myself, Ret madteckin Shortcutter gonna be getting down.
Speaker 7 (22:48):
A Bastard's barbecue, la.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
So if you're in town, be there or b Square,
we're gonna be getting down and be having fun on
a bunch of turntables and mixers.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
So yeah, I'm just saying, I'm I mean, if you
if you guys don't know, come out to the b
Junkies Institute of Sound. So this is gonna be the
first of a few sessions. I know there's gonna be
two more of this Scratch Scratch League going down so and.
Speaker 7 (23:11):
More after that.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Two more in this season. Okay, yeah yeah, but the
next season we're fired. We fired it right back up
so and and you know this is long overdue, but
uh we're working out the kinks. We're hoping, like you know,
as we throw more and more, we we develop and
grow this into something uh really special. So, but yeah,
everything about our school Beachritosound dot com.
Speaker 7 (23:35):
What was the I g again.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Be Junkie iOS iOS b Chunky i O S is
the one and only be Junkie bab Boo hanging out
with us right here.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
We're in his back backyard right now.
Speaker 7 (23:51):
I love it too.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
I love it my family.
Speaker 7 (23:53):
Thank you guys, thank you.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
For having us.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Man Gemini, Let's take a break and then we'll see
who we're gonna get on the mic next.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
Bro, Bang bang you already know.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
So Yo, Jem and I we are back right here
at the Beat Junkies Institute of Sound.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Yo. We're having a good time. Man. Hey, bro, it's
kind of lovely for you. Guys. Had the tacos, you
and Shock I would hold them.
Speaker 8 (24:12):
Tacos, Yeah, tacos. Shot had the tacos. I didn't have
no tacos. I'm about to go back and get some tacos. Yeah,
but I had the guest idea. I saw stuck like.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
What I want?
Speaker 8 (24:28):
Son Son, Hey, it looked good. I'm not going that
ship was Bob. I gave one of the jewels. Come on,
it's good, it's good.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
Didn't make you go.
Speaker 8 (24:40):
Yeah, man, you know shout out to loadus for for
bringing these uh the what are the catering or whatnot?
Speaker 1 (24:46):
What?
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Yeah, I think I think it's I think it might
be someone that works at his work too, or something
like that.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
No ship exactly.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
He was talking about bringing them out for for his
session after for the invitation, right the party. Yeah, so
pretty dope to see him. Bro, there's some beasts walking
around all over.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
Right here right now. It's dope. It's dope. I'm everybody.
I'm excited to be here. Flip flop over there by
the porter bulls.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Yup, it's relays over there, hanging out with them strips.
It's holding down the whole. He's the host of that
over there. They were calling him an FJ. He's not
a DJ's an fj's a fader jockey.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
I like it. Prolifics just showed up too. So man,
I'm saying, it's pretty dope. It's pretty You got Jesse
jen right there, just chilling, chopping it up. Yuh mine
Soil hanging out with us too. Hey dog, I'm getting
him on the mic and ship a little bit later. Yeah,
we gotta get Jessee into you.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
You were saying, too, you have some of you gotta
what is it the AC power adapter for for some.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
Tef for techniques. Yeah, I'm jealous, man. I showed it
to him. I said, Yo, this is the ship right here. Bro,
I'm glad.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
You made pulled it out of his pocket.
Speaker 8 (25:46):
Like he was like, yo, jam, if you need some more,
let me know. I got a ship ton of those.
I says, all right, I got you.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
Yeah, I like it.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Hey, So we did have some some news that happened recently.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
I wanted to get into it.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
But so Serato has been like going through jumping through
hoops and not that they're not that they're in trouble
or anything.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Yeah, but they was a wrap. But you know, they
got brought out at a at.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
A certain point you gotta like, you know, you gotta,
you gotta take your money and get what you can get.
They were actually trying to get bought out by Alphabeta.
Remember Alphabeta was trying to buy him, but then that
sale got blocked so that didn't go down.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
But now, and this is kind of crazy.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
This is kind of crazy to me because I feel
a little bit like kind of close to this because
I I really I don't really talk to her to
my baby mama all the time. But like I want
to ask her because she used to work for Tiny Incorporated.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
It was a computer company, I don't talk to her.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
So so I'm wondering because now Tiny inc Now owns Serrado.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
That's Canada's ship, right, yeah, it's Kenned Kenned Canadian company. Canadian.
From what I hear, they're not even a real country
anymore anyway. It's just what I heard South Park. Don't lie.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
I'm just saying, don't don't tell. Vea said that his
ears are ringing right now.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
He's Oh that's how you fail. Sun. Oh look there
is like, yeah, I see you eightym one talking. By
the way, we got shot one on the mic. Yeah,
we got shot one hanging out with this. We got
Jewels on a mic with us too as well. Hell yeah,
So how do you guys feel? How do you guys
feel about Serronto getting sold? I mean it's kind of
just another.
Speaker 9 (27:24):
Day, right yeah, I mean it's are they going to
improve upon it? Like all the features that they're lagging behind,
like algorithm DJ's stems features being way their big time,
their beat grid feature being way above Toerado's like are
they gonna fix all that?
Speaker 1 (27:44):
I just saw actually a video that.
Speaker 9 (27:47):
People are doing their beat grids in Serrato studio because
it's actually better, more precise, more precise, and it actually
gets to like, if you have a transition track, it
sets all those cuy points on your tracks transitions.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
With up t grids. Oh shit, yeah.
Speaker 9 (28:01):
So it'll be on point. Like let's say you start
at ninety eight. It'll even show a ninety eight bpm,
and as it's transitioning, you'll see a change, change change.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 9 (28:13):
So and even if you have like those old funk
you know, those funk songs that are not at quite
four forward or off of just a little bit. Yeah,
it'll adjust for all that. So oh always be on time.
But uh, I guess they're saying that it doesn't quite
get Uh if you don't get the first beat right on,
it's gonna be way off. So if you bring it
into Serrado and you try to adjust it, I don't
(28:34):
know if it's gonna adjust correctly.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
So that's probably why they haven't put.
Speaker 9 (28:37):
It in Serato, because if you have something that doesn't
start right on number one, then it's gonna throw everything off.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
And then people are bitching about it.
Speaker 10 (28:44):
Probably I just sold they don't get behind a fucking
tractor because tractor was ship.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Yeah you get what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
I don't know, I've never used tractor before, but but
I know every time I seen someone have tractor up
on their laptop, I'm like, what the hell is going on?
They just look like there's so many options.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
It's bad ass, bro. Yeah. Yeah. And then you you've
used you use the algorithm on your phone and it
was dope. I like it.
Speaker 10 (29:07):
I mean fucking I think it's competing with fucking Serado
big time.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
I can do all kinds of shit just on my phone,
my phone. Yeah, I think that's dope just walking around.
That's why.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
Like I remember, I told you, was like, oh dog,
can you do a set? You're like, hold on, let
me see what I got on my phone real quick.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (29:22):
I mean fucking Now, now that you have Apple, Apple
fucking Music, you can's just transfer all your music to
fucking algorithm and that's it.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
See, that's that's another dope thing too, that that that
now Apple Music is now streaming Gemini. You've actually used
like streaming on your phone, not on your phone, but
on your laptop because you use title. Okay, so now
title versus Apple Music? Is it enticing to use Apple Music?
Speaker 8 (29:50):
It's first and foremost you gotta be connected to in it.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
Yeah know what I'm saying. Without it is like that
you can't use it.
Speaker 7 (29:59):
You can't use it.
Speaker 9 (30:00):
So me, I usually go through my my phone, you
know what I'm saying, what.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
You us like your WiFi on your phone, like the hotspot.
Speaker 8 (30:09):
The hotspots, the hotspot on my phone, and then like
save I'm away.
Speaker 9 (30:13):
From I can't get access to you, and then I.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
Just do it phone and it works pretty good. You
know what I'm saying. I like. I like the fact
that stems works on that too as well. Untitled.
Speaker 8 (30:24):
Yeah now yeah, so it's it's it's not like before,
you know, when it first came out, you had to
like put it in a little file some ship like that,
and yeah, this this is way easier type of a
big give you mean you want to use the acapella
you gotta want you want to take.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
I don't think you could do that Apple, Yeah, I don't.
I think you can still do it. I don't know,
I don't know. I don't think what about beat source, No,
I think I used I use beat Source.
Speaker 9 (30:49):
But what I like about beat Sources you also have
an offline locker, so if you save everything you songs
before you get yeah, so you'll have everything offline if
you need it. But I still put on my hot
spot just in case.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Like I think, I think that's what sets that everything
apart right now from Apple is that whole having the
offline mode where you're like, it's not like you really
downloaded it, but it's there when you're not online.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Edit.
Speaker 9 (31:13):
B Source has DJ edits too, so it's like, you know,
if you got something like that.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
That's the other remix, so you know that that's the
other thing too. Because b Source is actually gonna have
like an intro to it like Apple Music.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
If it doesn't have stems, how are you gonna even
mix the song because it just starts like a song,
you know what I mean, Echo out and drop it in.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
Right, I mean, I guess if you're playing Ain't no
fun this is DJ, you might want to start like that,
but not every song.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
You don't want that, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Like, you know a lot of DJs, so you'll hear
that at the bar a lot of times.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
But Apple music. They do have something I guess.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Where they're they're trying to to set themself apart. Where
they got DJs that are that are uploading playlists. And
I was telling Jim when I sent it to you,
I was like, yo, I didn't really know who any
of these DJs were, so I have my on my
notes who.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
They are, so there's curated playlist.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
One of them is the only one that I knew
was DJ Puffy because I know Puffy won the Red
Bull three Style in twenty sixteen, so I'm thinking maybe
his his his set's probably like more Island, right, because
he does more.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
Like Island beats, right.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
But then they have let's see, they have this one
I've seen all over, Jasmine Solano, and I guess she
was the host from Started from Scratch on.
Speaker 9 (32:32):
MTV, which if you even remember that show, I've never
heard of that ship.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
I know, I never heard of that show. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
Then also they have miss uh, miss Million Ferry, who
I guess she's do Chi's DJ, So that's that's pretty dope,
but I never heard her. Then this one's z Muffin Pakistani,
who I guess does a whole bunch of like afro
beats and some hip hop stuff. And then the last
(33:00):
one that I've seen that they're promoting big time is
Nick Chio, known for uh jem and I Have you
heard of this dude, because I guess like he went
like super viable lens.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
And mashups right yeah, and taking your spot have lost
on pros.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
That's what I'm saying, lotus, we got to get the
Apple Music pro playlist going on.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
It's nothing but loopers, he said. It's on Spotify.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Yeah, hey, and that that's that's the That's the crazy
thing too, Like when is Spotify gonna have an integration
for Serrato?
Speaker 1 (33:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 9 (33:33):
I'm hoping soon because I already have a Spotify. I'm
not going to cancel for Apple Music.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
So that that's how I feel too. I mean, fun,
I think Spotify, That's what I'm saying, Like, Yo, Spotify.
Spotify is number one on my That's where I go
to all the time. Yeah, if you're listening on Spotify
right now, shout out to you.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
I'm just saying like that usually too, when I'm promoting
the show, that's generally where I tell everyone to goes Spotify.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
You know what I mean. I mean, we are on iHeartRadio,
We're on everywhere everywhere.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
We were podcast but but Spotify is the main one,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
But yeah, I don't know. It's pretty crazy.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
And then also to just because we're talking about Serrato,
you just recently bought a REP seven.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
So how are you feeling about the REP seven? Now?
Speaker 8 (34:15):
It's dope, son, it's dope, but you did you did
mention one thing, and now I gotta check out. Like
if the mic, if the mic is mike muffled.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
Like.
Speaker 9 (34:25):
Muffled food, it's like sounds distorted as sounds distorted, but
when I heard it, sounds distorted like like the.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Got Boy sabotage too much. It's pretty much like this.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
Shock was telling me that they were at a wedding
and that his boy was like talking on the mic, and.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
It's like.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
It's like at a wedding, it was terrible. At the bar,
it was terrible the bar. So I can only imagine
that a life.
Speaker 9 (35:01):
So that's like a downfall with the red settle. I'm
gonna when I get that crib, like if you plug
in your headphones, when you forget your micro just like that,
just like that good.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
Yeah, that's all that good bro, all that all that.
So you gotta you gotta chest it out, you gotta
let us know.
Speaker 9 (35:20):
Yeah, because it does have a knob in the back
like an attenuation. Now, maybe that's you gotta turn down.
Maybe that I don't know, like i'd have a chance
to mess around with that. I'm just like, it sounds like.
Speaker 8 (35:29):
I'm saying, for all the money that thing is, you know, hey,
I got it. I got it for a deal, so
I can't really complain. But if you buy that fresh
out the box, you know what I'm saying, myles is
on that eighteen press, that ship and it sounds like that,
like I can't even say.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
I don't even know what the fuck you just said.
I said, blow it off. Oh you're using a good
mic now.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
So the reason why I bring it up is because
Rain's about to be dropped in the Rain one Mark two,
which they displayed over there at at NAM and they
fixed a couple of things that people didn't like about it,
and I'm I'm torn because I want to get.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
A controller because it's just easier.
Speaker 10 (36:13):
It's that the channel than you one the performer, the performer,
but now.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
The two channel. I never liked that I never liked.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
That, so so they changed a couple of things which
now you can adjust the jog will sensitivity. It also
has twenty nine new internal effects, so the actual controller
has its own effects.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
It has instant.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Vocal and instrumental separation, so actually just a button you
hit it.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
So STEMS is integrated into it.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
And not for me though, because you got to have
a proper laptop that actually uses STEMS. Well, you wouldn't
need it because if I were to get the rain too,
that would be the mixer.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
So then also they changed up and down faders and then.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
All of them because now they're mag four faders, so
they upgraded that. They they do have the secondary set
of buttons right above the platter.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
And then now it's gonna come in what they're calling
a premium white wow, which that should be.
Speaker 3 (37:05):
I mean, I mean that that's that is different because
all every controller and everything that comes out it's black.
What's the price, so the price twelve ninety nine suggested price,
so it's definitely in competition right there when it comes
to what I was saying, I think eighteen hundred for
the Rev seven.
Speaker 9 (37:23):
Yeah, So I hope it comes out soon because I'm
kind of in the market now tossed up between. Okay,
So personally I don't like the layout of the Rev one.
I don't like the the ring one right, yes, yes, sorry, no,
I have a Rev one, That's why it's okay, So
no the Ring one.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
I don't like the buttons underneath. It's just like that,
it's control.
Speaker 9 (37:47):
Yeah, if it has all the controls that they're saying
it's gonna have and it works, it might, you know.
And that price point, it's like kind of really good
to talk to one hundred.
Speaker 8 (37:55):
I just I just like the Q points to be
away from the plattern man. Yeah, it's got to be
definitely like where the mixer is at. That's why I
like the REP seven at.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
Table fucking feel. That's not just me, no exactly.
Speaker 8 (38:07):
But I just heard too that sometimes the the Rev
seven it malfunctions and it starts spinning backwards or some
ship like that.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
And I was like what, and so he was like, yeah,
what you gotta do is you gotta take off that
flatter and you gotta sprayed with it.
Speaker 8 (38:21):
Interesting, Yeah, you spray with it and then you put
it back on and it should work the way it's
supposed to work, you.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
Know what I'm saying. So you just got to carry
your nods can in your.
Speaker 8 (38:30):
Bad bro, like if you don't act when it's what
they're saying is that there's a lot of dust inside
with the sensors of that and ship like that. You know,
don't quote me on it, but that's what what was said,
you know, all right.
Speaker 9 (38:42):
So yeah, now we've ran into that problem before too,
So that's all. So basically you gotta take it off.
Speaker 8 (38:49):
You got sprayed with that, not that, not the can
that's gonna when you spray it. There's some liquid that
come out on that ship. It's got like that dixic Yeah, yeah, cleaner.
So yeah, that's the only that that that and the
fucking mic that you just told me.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
Man hey, and that's actually you're finding this out now.
Well you just showed up with once. We couldn't give
you the warnings.
Speaker 8 (39:10):
Yeah, yo, like I said, like I said, for the price,
you can't go wrong.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, he got a really good price
on this though.
Speaker 9 (39:18):
So for that rain one since we got Jesse didn't here,
did he make those toone arms for them?
Speaker 10 (39:23):
Yes, yeah, yeah, let should see if it works for
the second, you've got to jump on those.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
And then and then that's the other thing too. I
think even though you would be able to put.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
Probably put those on the on the the Red seven,
but the Red seven has the pitch control on the
very top, so I don't.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
Know if you'd be able to put those where it
is the rain one. Yeah, they're on the sides.
Speaker 9 (39:44):
No, no, no, it has the spindle for the record.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
That's why they can put it on you.
Speaker 10 (39:48):
Oh yeah, so you can put at A five on it.
Speaker 9 (39:51):
Yeah, put a forth little forty five slip mat with
the record and it's.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
Yoh yeah that no, hold on, hold on, let's pay
some bills. B Yeah, let's take a break.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
We'll take a break and we'll come back from the
Big Junkies Institute of Sound. And yeah, more tables for two,
tables for two, tables for two.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
All right, man, well yo, we're back, man yo.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
So right here at the B Junkies Institute of Town.
Let's see if I can say the acronymbra, what is it?
B BJ I O S right there? Yeah, B Joyce
that's what That's what my son was saying. He was like, Yo, Dad,
what's a B.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
Choyeug it's rainy? Is it rainy?
Speaker 3 (40:26):
I do see, Yeah, I see some some sprinkles, some
sprinkles in the building. Definitely, we are outside. We got
three tenths out here. The portables are cracking him. We
got some tables set up and yeah, tables for two
in the full effect and uh yeah, so we we
were just done talking about uh Serrato and some new
things that were coming out.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
But then let's see here something else.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
That I wanted to get into, guys, which is really dope.
So I've noticed that Cuba had sent out a tweet.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
I haven't seen it.
Speaker 3 (40:53):
I keep on looking up Rolling Stones, But Rolling Stone
magazine is.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
Gonna do a full on DJ piece. Guys.
Speaker 3 (40:59):
Where they got uh they got is sp right there
on the cover, and I did see a few other
things that were on there.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
Let me see. So the the.
Speaker 3 (41:09):
Header on it did say that it is a super
hero DJ issue.
Speaker 1 (41:14):
So I'm really wondering.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
Besides the people that they named so above it, they have,
who do they have on top of it? They got
Mixed Master, Mike, Tom cut Tom Kat who I don't know,
who don't know who Tom Kat is.
Speaker 1 (41:29):
Lean Rock Kendo, Uncle Al and DJ Apollo.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
So I'm like, okay, so what are they gonna what
are they gonna do with this issue?
Speaker 1 (41:36):
Like, because I think that's really dope, Rolling Stone like
covering like some DJ like DJ DJ stuff.
Speaker 3 (41:43):
Yeah, you have to pick up that issue, right because
I guess I sp is gonna have a new album
coming out, so so it's all it's And then if
you haven't been a thud rumble dot com, Cubert's always
dropping like personal stuff, his own stuff, you know what
I mean, free loopers.
Speaker 1 (41:56):
All kinds of stuff.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
Yeah, yeah, the fidget fader and if I ain't Jesse
Dean has a fidget fader too. It's when we're gonna
we're gonna have to ask swips out how come he
doesn't have the scratch break figetador because it seems like
everyone's doing them.
Speaker 9 (42:10):
You know.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
Yeah, pretty dope. So I'm excited to see.
Speaker 3 (42:14):
What they do with with that because I know also
too that they they were highlighting to the fourteen year
anniversary of Church of Drum and Bass in Cleveland. Diesel
Boy's gonna be headlighting that, So I was like, all right,
that's pretty dope that they're like covering a span of DJs,
because obviously it's gonna be.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
I'm surprised that not Craze on that ship too. That's
the ball dog.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
They were probably like, we can't put Craze and Hubert
in the same issues. These are about to fight, and
then so too, because I've seen Crazy is doing a
bunch of stuff too right now.
Speaker 1 (42:46):
Yeah, yeah, dog, he's been. He's been putting out some
putting out some dope war, fucking house music, fucking drumm,
and bag a lot of shit. Yeah, it's always dope
to see what Crazy is doing. But yeah, they're killing
it over there, geh them. Yeah, and the little portables
and ship. I can't, I can't. I can't get down
on it.
Speaker 3 (43:05):
Gemini, you got your port My portable don't work because
I'm I'm like stretched out the band.
Speaker 1 (43:10):
I took it out.
Speaker 8 (43:11):
I took it out, it had a lot of dust
on it, and I just started messing with it again.
But it seems like the fader for some reason, it
feels like it's like dragon per se, you know what
I mean, Like it's grinding a little bit, almost like
the old school Gemini mixes and ship when you burned
those faders out and it's like scratching on the bottom
(43:32):
and ship.
Speaker 1 (43:32):
That's what it feels like.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
Man, I don't know what stick a Q tip in
there with.
Speaker 1 (43:37):
I'm boxing. I'm about to I'm about and clean that
ship and oil it up. Yeah. Hell yeah, I'm saying.
It's the trick right there. Clip agree.
Speaker 3 (43:45):
Oil that mug upright, oil that I'm.
Speaker 1 (43:49):
Saying, Christian oil brown. What I'm saying the diddy oil?
Is that what you said? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (43:59):
Cooking oil sun?
Speaker 1 (44:02):
Yeah? What is it that? Scigence said that he dipped
it in what like in water some ship like that. Yeah,
he had some weird way of doing it. We're like
what yeah? We both was like wait, wait, hold on,
are you serious? He said, like you wash it and
some ship you put it in water and wash it.
Speaker 3 (44:13):
I don't know, I'm gonna have to give I think
he was talking about the old rain faders. With the
old rain fader, it's.
Speaker 8 (44:19):
Supposed to be waterproof for some ship waterproof And I
was like, whoa, but isn't isn't like the rain. Isn't
the rain also the same way because it's magnetized, right?
Speaker 1 (44:27):
But I know it's sat those two bars.
Speaker 8 (44:29):
Yeah, yeah, it's just two bars and then you got
the magnets at the end of them, at the end
of the bars.
Speaker 1 (44:33):
Yeah, I don't know. I wouldn't put water on my ship.
Speaker 8 (44:37):
No, no, no, no, absolutely absolutely. But you know how
many times people not drinks over and ship.
Speaker 1 (44:42):
Oh man, you know what I mean? Oh well, hey,
it is what it is.
Speaker 8 (44:47):
It happens to get back to what we were saying.
I'm saying bro sidetracked and ship.
Speaker 3 (44:51):
So something else that that that that is coming out
because we're talking about I sp coming out and he's
actually walking around.
Speaker 1 (44:56):
Twist Style just released the re release of.
Speaker 3 (44:59):
Hand Control Phase and then, I mean, it's pretty exciting.
I don't know if they anyone got Did you get
in on the on the pre release?
Speaker 1 (45:06):
No? Yeah I didn't either. Well I was the first
release control Oh you do? Yeah? Oh that's hard.
Speaker 9 (45:12):
Yeah, so I got it when he's first release.
Speaker 1 (45:15):
Yeah, that's right. I'm track there you go, all right,
there you go? All right? Yeah? Yeah, so I have
the first one. What color is that one? Cover? Silver? Right?
Or great? Right? Now? Got the hand the hand green? Yeah,
green with the green bar and it's all yeah, so
(45:37):
I'm let me, let me, let me go over it.
But yeah.
Speaker 3 (45:39):
So the new re release, the hand control is going
to be in purple and then the phrase is going
to be in gray, so switching it up a little
bit so that well, you know, yours will be worth
more money because it's the first press.
Speaker 1 (45:51):
But like, yeah, I got the first press. Yeah, I'm
gonna hit him up. Then he got a white labors,
come on bag, come on bag. So yeah, pretty pretty dope.
Speaker 3 (46:01):
So I mean, you guys should head over to scratch
break Records dot com and pick that up. And then
scratch Break Records also one of the one of the
sponsors over here at the suit of the Town for
the uh for the the scratch league over here.
Speaker 1 (46:11):
So indeed, pretty dope. That's that's why I'm that's why
I'm bringing them up. So if you guys have to
check that out.
Speaker 8 (46:15):
Yeah Swift, that out Swift is uhwhere.
Speaker 3 (46:19):
Oh yeah, yeah, think this is definitely gonna go on
a video and then and then also to each one
of those re released too, they come with a they
come with a slip mat too.
Speaker 9 (46:26):
So pretty bad ash up.
Speaker 3 (46:29):
So there, it's gonna be a limited quantity that he
said he's gonna be available afterwards, So if you didn't
get in on the pre release.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
You can get it. Go check him out scratch Break
Records dot Com. Hit the homie Swish style up and
uh and yeah that's what's up. Hey, Gemini.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
We we we touched on this this next topic just
a little bit. But I was I remember I was
showing you Dead Mouse talking ship at Ultram.
Speaker 1 (46:50):
Yeah, and you were talking about it. Bro, What do
you think about that? Would you? Because like it's one.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
Thing for like battle DJs to be like talking smack,
But how do you feel like someone in the E
d M scene talking back during the set?
Speaker 1 (47:04):
Hey, I don't know nothing about that. It's none of
my business. That doesn't do their thing. I never don't
at it. You don't press that fucking uh you sing
fund that way?
Speaker 4 (47:12):
Homeboy?
Speaker 1 (47:17):
Oh man, yo Joe. You you were saying though that
Dead Mass has has a has a record of.
Speaker 10 (47:24):
I think, uh maybe four or five years ago, and
he went at it with fucking Ooral. I guess fucking
the Oral brought from the homies and since they got
like free bupat and ship, so he was trying to
get tickets for his homies and fucking the Oral posted
a tweet a tweet and then fucking death. Mauna fucking
just replied, like, what the fuck you get paid? You
(47:45):
can't pay for your own plate.
Speaker 1 (47:47):
So they went at me. That ship funny. That ship
was fucking funny, dude, Damn Twitter fingers popping off. You
can't feed your friends, that's crazy.
Speaker 3 (48:01):
So so during during his during his set, a couple
of things that that he because he didn't call out
Martin Garrick's so he said older, not wiser when he was.
Speaker 1 (48:14):
Playing, uh, where the fucking animals? Right?
Speaker 3 (48:18):
But when he played it, he didn't play the regular version.
This Will played the old McDonald had a farm version.
So definitely trolling him right there, Jem.
Speaker 1 (48:35):
What else did this was say? I know, I know
he said a couple other things.
Speaker 9 (48:38):
Yeah, didn't he like during the fireworks show? Did something
happened over there too as well?
Speaker 3 (48:42):
Okay, So I don't know, I don't know if you
guys are paying attention, but Ultra in Miami it's pretty
much a big festival. Miami Music Week goes down every year,
and we all know that bottle service is popular, right,
It's definitely popular in the bar scene, and it's made
its way into festivals and shock how much do you
(49:04):
think their most expensive table is? I don't know what
it would have included, but how much do you think
their most expensive table was at Ultra?
Speaker 1 (49:13):
I thought I saw something.
Speaker 9 (49:14):
It's something like six figures or something like right.
Speaker 3 (49:18):
Yeah, bro't think five hundred thousand dollars?
Speaker 1 (49:23):
Why not cut up in the building? Yeah, what's up?
Come on its body?
Speaker 3 (49:35):
So so, so let me ask you this question, Tony.
When you're right here, you could say answering the mic.
Speaker 1 (49:39):
So when you go to NOBU, how much? How much?
How much would you pay for a bottle? What will
be the most that you ever paid? Person? What your table?
Your table? Get close to the mics.
Speaker 7 (49:57):
It depends what's the most?
Speaker 1 (49:59):
Come on? Five hundred five hundred?
Speaker 3 (50:03):
So if you went to if you went to Ultra
in Miami, would you pay five hundred thousand dollars for
a table?
Speaker 1 (50:09):
Final K? If I had the money, obviously he's down
with it. I ain't got money like that, you know
so much?
Speaker 3 (50:20):
So five hundred K was the top of the line
bottle service at Ultra.
Speaker 1 (50:25):
So during his.
Speaker 3 (50:25):
Set, Wow So during his set, dead Mouse straight played
the intro to to his his music and it was like,
you know, like a little like symphony type thing, and
he said, hey, hey, everyone stopped looking at me, turn
around and watch this fireworks show.
Speaker 1 (50:40):
And then so so this big fire went off, right
and he said, oh, well that actually the bottle service
guys paid for that one.
Speaker 9 (50:53):
Sedience god Son, super fucking clown.
Speaker 1 (51:03):
And no one is safe. No one is safe.
Speaker 3 (51:06):
He's calling people and then and then at the end
of his set. The funny thing, especially because this is
a scratch battle. So I think this is kind of
funny because James Hype does get a lot of a
lot of views and thridinally on the on the on
the internet for his uh, his scratching and his little
sets that he does. And I think it is pretty
(51:27):
cool that he's got like live remixes on the foro
C DJ.
Speaker 1 (51:30):
He's pretty dope.
Speaker 3 (51:31):
So he's playing another one of his long intros or whatever,
and this Fiel.
Speaker 1 (51:37):
Gets on the mic.
Speaker 3 (51:38):
Dead Mouse gets on the mic and he says, James,
wait this one, god Mouse has just and then okay,
so that was week one. So then flash forward to
(51:58):
week two of it. No, actually this was that at Coachella.
Dead dead Mouse was at Coachella. He actually got kicked
off the stage for being drunk. They ended his set.
Speaker 1 (52:09):
That's normal, that's normal. Dog.
Speaker 8 (52:12):
It's like a manny Lynks. Remember he's got drunk pass
out on the stage.
Speaker 1 (52:17):
Bro, he was mad asleep done, mad asleep up. So
he's he was out of control back then, brog Yo,
yo yo.
Speaker 3 (52:27):
Security was about to just draw a white chalk around him,
like oo, just just leave him there, right, Yeah, they
made they made him bounce out.
Speaker 1 (52:34):
So but yeah, dead mouse.
Speaker 3 (52:36):
He's crazy. He's a crazy food. He's a crazy fool.
I'm saying, but damn son, Hey, I'm saying dog.
Speaker 1 (52:43):
So yeah, we got you already know we got we
gotta pay these bills again. Bro, Bro, we gotta we
gotta take another break.
Speaker 3 (52:48):
But Yo, all I gotta say is like, Yo, don't
don't show up to your gig drunk, and and don't
get overly drunk and start talking during your set.
Speaker 1 (52:57):
Like it's a live stream. And make sure you're stuff
fucking sing bum right, especially if you're drunk. Look, no headphones, bitch.
I'm saying, Hey, there's signs. There's signs.
Speaker 7 (53:10):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (53:11):
You read the signs.
Speaker 3 (53:13):
Super crazy more coming back from the be Junkies Institute
the Sound.
Speaker 1 (53:16):
When we get back, Stratch League is going down, y'all.
Speaker 9 (53:19):
It's pretty dopeuping. I'm gonna get some more tacos.
Speaker 1 (53:21):
Hey dog, you look hungry. Should set up an interview
just what you'll never get sea.
Speaker 2 (53:32):
We should get started.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
Yo eighty And we are back, Yo Gemini. We were back.
Speaker 3 (53:36):
And you know what, you never know who you're gonna
bump into out here at the be Junkies of Sound,
And I've seen them having a conversation.
Speaker 1 (53:43):
So I was like, yo, pull up on them, I'm saying.
I'm saying. So we got a private peep show.
Speaker 8 (53:48):
Peep show and the one and only I Q, what up?
Speaker 6 (53:53):
So you guys are you guys were talking about training
the loud.
Speaker 1 (53:59):
It's not the first time. I don't think it's gonna
be the last time we're outside. Were outside, you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (54:03):
So you guys, you guys were actually talking about I
think a couple of DJs that you guys like, right,
that's what you guys are, that's what you guys are.
Speaker 1 (54:10):
Getting in there right now. Yeah, pretty much? Who are
you talking about? Because I mean, oh man, it's a
long list. It's a long list.
Speaker 11 (54:18):
To talk about like DJ's like, you know, my inspiration,
you know, you know, stuff like that checking out that's
cool nowadays.
Speaker 3 (54:26):
Yeah, yeah, no, And I like that too because I mean,
I know, so what's up with with the next album
with with the crew.
Speaker 1 (54:32):
Because I know I've seen you guys putting out a
bunch of stuff and everything right now.
Speaker 11 (54:35):
Yeah, So we're finishing up actually two albums right now.
So the first one is about to be done pretty soon.
The second one hopefully by like the end of this year,
they'll be out.
Speaker 1 (54:48):
So yeah, hard thank you.
Speaker 3 (54:52):
So I wanted to ask you last time, and I
didn't ask you when I had you on the show,
So can you give me a little background on like
on the androids and everything, like.
Speaker 1 (54:59):
What you going on?
Speaker 12 (55:01):
Yeah, I mean we started a long time ago, like
in the nineties. It was mainly just DJs, but we
also were doing production, making beats. We used to do
shows where we would bring like a Fender Roads piano
and we had homies and we're on the Fender Rows
and we had the NPC's. We were kind of like
the first cast that we were doing that shit with
and then turn tables we were cutting, so it was
(55:21):
mainly me and my brother DJ Confusion, and we had
another home ology he was on like beats and Fender Roads,
and we had another dude named Computer J, which I'm
sure he probably heard of him nowadays. He also he's
still in the game doing hip hop, and so we
would just do shows with beats and cuts and Fender
road shit and just all this hip hop shit, you know,
(55:42):
just combined.
Speaker 1 (55:43):
You know. Yeah, that's dope.
Speaker 3 (55:45):
That's That's why I like what's going on right here,
because I mean, we got the portables out here, and
even though like you wouldn't see no one out here
with like an MPC or anything, but I mean we're
playing the Loopers, So I mean it's like production is
a big part of what's going on with the scratch
battles too, you know.
Speaker 12 (56:02):
It has to be like I got into production because
I was like tired, tired of hearing like beats. I
didn't want to scratch you anymore. So I was like, man,
I need to make my own fucking shit, you know, Like,
so I just learned on the PC you started making
all kinds of shit, so I can just scratch them,
oh shit, and not worry about other lupers.
Speaker 1 (56:19):
And stuff. Yeah, what would you say if your your
BPM is that's everything? Dude.
Speaker 12 (56:24):
You gotta don't know every PPM, dude, you know if
you want to be the fucking the best, so you
just have to learn master every PPM.
Speaker 1 (56:31):
You know what I mean? I like it? What what
about you?
Speaker 6 (56:33):
What would you say, like, is your zone if you
had his zone Petro, Yeah, that's a tough one.
Speaker 11 (56:41):
I could show you put for nowadays maybe like seventy five,
but it could change next week.
Speaker 3 (56:47):
It's it's crazy because I always tell Jim, I'm like, man,
I'm like stuck on nineties and especially like I had sessions.
That's one of the bpms that you don't really ever hear,
right right, Yeah, it's either like that or or or
a halftime that's like sixty five sixty, so.
Speaker 8 (57:04):
You you always got to adjust yourself. Yeah, it's words
because I'm used in nineties as well, nineties.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
Coming coming from being like a club DJ.
Speaker 3 (57:12):
That's why I think that's why we're so used to it,
you know, right, we're like, yeah, ninety one hundred, I'm good.
Speaker 1 (57:18):
Yeah, that's respect. That's can range.
Speaker 8 (57:21):
When it gets real slow, it's like oh okay, all right,
I gotta go.
Speaker 3 (57:26):
I know, especially like the one twenty fives, but like
it's crazy when you hear someone.
Speaker 1 (57:30):
Just murder it till one twenty five. Yeah.
Speaker 12 (57:32):
Yeah, I like one twenty one thirty because I like
the electro shit, So I like, I like going crazy
on movement. I feel like in the pocket and I
get another and then going to the like the the
double time ship, I just have to fresh and adjust
a little bit. But I feel like I can flow
on that ship too, because it's almost the same thing
kind of just different techniques you gotta apply.
Speaker 3 (57:51):
Yeah, plus plus especially at the at the at the
slower speeds when you double time it.
Speaker 1 (57:56):
It's just real intricate what you have to like pull off,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 12 (57:58):
You can't get caught like sometimes, you know, if you
get caught on a movie, you could tell, like it's
more obvious.
Speaker 7 (58:04):
I feel like.
Speaker 8 (58:04):
Sometimes that's definitely a workout though. Yeah, yeah, it's definitely
work out. My whole fall arm dy burning Yeah, that
trying man.
Speaker 12 (58:13):
Yeah, you gotta just yeah, you gotta burn that ship
and so it doesn't burn anymore.
Speaker 1 (58:16):
You just keep burning.
Speaker 7 (58:18):
So the muscles is conditioned.
Speaker 1 (58:20):
Hell yeah, muscle memory, Yeah, saying some say you got
to run them drills, drill it into your body there
Exactually I'm gonna sleep eat you know what I'm saying.
Cut cut cut saying you got anything that's that's coming out?
Speaker 12 (58:36):
That was with my album I've been working on for
a while, but I just couldn't. I kind of like
fascinating a lot. But it's almost done. It's like nine percent.
I just gotta finalize it. It's going to be released
through a cat from in Italy that did like a
lot of the represses of what's it called The Styles
and fantasmic Oria, So that Phoe hit me up and
(58:58):
I've been working on that album. So it's gonna be
dope for probably within a few months or I don't
know who knows, but it'll be out soon.
Speaker 1 (59:06):
Do you already have like an idea for the artwork
because I know like a lot of things.
Speaker 12 (59:09):
Yeah, I do already, because it's based on like the
Android ship, so just like a robo arm and ship.
Then my brother he fucking built like a robot arm
out of like RCA cables and like all kinds of
ship because he's he's super artistic kind.
Speaker 7 (59:22):
So I got a dope, like photo of it.
Speaker 1 (59:24):
So it's it's pretty sick. That's dope. That's dope, pig.
So with the with the floor pedal thing that you're doing,
what's up with the scratch music?
Speaker 11 (59:31):
I know, I know, it's pretty much when I messed
with the pedals, just a jam out with But I'm
gonna make some videos pretty soon. He's just jamming out. Yeah,
that's pretty much what he's used for.
Speaker 3 (59:45):
Yeah, Hey, because I think it's it's dope to see
like that that like you know what I mean, Like
that side of like turn for people to see that
side of turntable isn't especially when you do it live.
Speaker 1 (59:54):
It's like yo, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (59:56):
It's it's kind of like what you were saying about,
like the whole MPC thing and do it, you know what,
It makes a whole different type of.
Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
Performance, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
And then to see to see the scratch music like
like the Beatsurfing stuff that they just put out that
free album, like yeah, like it's super crazy just to
hear the tracks.
Speaker 1 (01:00:11):
That are on there, you know, yeah for sure, yea,
yeah we did something on there. Yeah, that's that's actually.
Speaker 11 (01:00:17):
So the first compilation came out, and the second one
was about to come out to so I did a track,
I cu died a track.
Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
Yeah, yeah, I heard it. They got the sneak pink
It was really doode. Yeah, so be on the lookout it.
Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
I know they usually put the links on beat Surfing
on on Instagram, So if you haven't caught the first
one already, you're gonna.
Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
Have to cop Yeah that's what I'm saying. Yeah, you
gotta gotta download that for free scratch music.
Speaker 3 (01:00:40):
I think that's called l A Sessions, So then what's
what's this next one gonna be called LA Sessions volunto
man Beatsurfing and then I think too on their on
their website too that they have a good deal going
on with all with all their their plugins that they
have too.
Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
So yeah, check them out that stuff coming out from
them the same same. So what do you what do
you guys?
Speaker 3 (01:01:03):
What do you guys see so far of the whole
the whole scratch league that the be Drunk has got
going on right now?
Speaker 12 (01:01:07):
Man, it's good man, it's always good good sraight nough
I was, you know, as long as they're keep doing
that and supporting the turn jamis it's all as good man,
absolutely and all always support that too.
Speaker 3 (01:01:17):
Say whatever, Yeah, I know, I know it's gonna get
to start. It's gonna get started inside. So I'm not
gonna keep you guys any longer, but thank you for
stopping by.
Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
What tables for two? The keep show? I Q.
Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
I'm saying, Gemini, yeah saying, son, let's go check out
the battle, pay some.
Speaker 1 (01:01:34):
Bills, let's do that, Let's do that, Let's do that,
Let's do that, Yo, Gemini, we are back at the
Chunkies Institute. Is sound? The first the first round, bro
Bro was on point. I'm saying it was dope. Seeing
everyone go ahead. I like that. It was a head
to head battle. It wasn't just a session and then
your elimination, you know what I mean.
Speaker 13 (01:01:55):
It was.
Speaker 3 (01:01:55):
It was head to head DJ versus DJ Cutter versus cutter.
Speaker 1 (01:01:59):
What was it?
Speaker 3 (01:02:00):
Eighteen bars? Yeah, eighteen bars, eighteen bars. They're getting it
going back and forth. So we had John Be's, Hey,
so we're gonna have We're gonna have to come right
back with it. Yeah, we're gonna have to come back
with it. We're gonna have to come back with it.
That was That was the he might as well pick
it up.
Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
Oh yeah, yeah, I like it. Okay, So so we
swapped out John Be's I'm sure you watched. He's gonna
come back to me, but like I'm back, Yeah, he's
gonna be I'm back. But look, oh hold on, hold on,
say let's talk about the eight and a half bars
and ship. You know, but sometimes, you know, sometimes it's
(01:02:43):
hard to count. Yeah I was counting.
Speaker 3 (01:02:45):
I mean I know, but you actill weren't cutting, so
with the pressure wasn't on you, Gemini, the pressure wasn't
on you. It's relay. So it's cracking, bro, not much.
What's going on again? I want it all in the
bro voice.
Speaker 1 (01:02:58):
Not much broad just you know over here at the
scratch battle.
Speaker 9 (01:03:03):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
It's good bro, it's so much fun.
Speaker 14 (01:03:09):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
Hey, so what do you think about the first round?
Speaker 15 (01:03:13):
First round was was good. There was a good mix
of I think that the the matchups were good. I
think they put the people who should be against each other.
It's pretty fair, as you could tell from the one
more round.
Speaker 1 (01:03:26):
Yeah, that was a dope brown bro. They went like
four rounds, one more round, one more round. Yeah. Hey,
there's a Mike right here.
Speaker 3 (01:03:35):
Jee Yeah, yeah, yeah, you get on the mic. Don't
be talking to about Come on. He's like, I'm gonna
just talk to you guys without talking to.
Speaker 1 (01:03:41):
You, open up candy and ship. Hey, I think it's
getting good so far. Well, look, I think you might
be bad. If you want, you can jump back on.
And here's what means.
Speaker 3 (01:03:54):
Yeah, I mean we got four mics. That's the glory
of having four mikes. What's up, fellas lift lift that
up for him, Jim.
Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
I got it, man, right here, it is there. It
is just you know what I'm saying. Okay, there weah.
Sounds good. So John Be's we were just talking.
Speaker 3 (01:04:12):
We were just talking about about the battles, and then
I heard Baboo come up to you, and I guess
he co horsed you into it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 16 (01:04:19):
I came here tonight and I just wanted to hang
out with the crowd and everything. And I actually had
in the back of my head if they had spots available,
I might jump in. And he told me to have
four spots available. So he's like, it's like Johnny shoot
out and I'm like, all right, he didn't take.
Speaker 1 (01:04:35):
Much persuasion to get me in there, so it's cool.
So you now on to the next round.
Speaker 16 (01:04:39):
Yeah, I'm in the top eight, so I'll be back
next month, Okay, and then we'll from when I understand
it cuts down to four and then it's the final
four of the month after that. It's kind of a
cool format. I like that it's a little different, so
it'll be fun.
Speaker 1 (01:04:52):
Yeah. I like the split up of it. It's pretty dope.
But we're gonna go back next month for Cole. Yeah,
well we'll be here.
Speaker 3 (01:04:57):
We'll see, we'll see, we'll see if you make it
to the top four, because I know next month it's
gonna be a little.
Speaker 16 (01:05:02):
Bit it's gonna be a little more challenge, a little
bit more tough. You got some dope cutters, and it's
gonna be a lot of fun.
Speaker 8 (01:05:06):
So definitely, definitely. They definitely killers man for real. The
fade is like on five.
Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
I'm telling you no, I was. And then I liked.
Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
I liked how Lotus picked like a wide variety of
bpm range just rushing every.
Speaker 16 (01:05:20):
Every round was like switching it up in terms of
like style of feel to beat, and it's kind of cool,
like to have that random random draw what kind of
rhythm you good of rocks too.
Speaker 7 (01:05:29):
So that was fun.
Speaker 8 (01:05:31):
It definitely puts you on a different scale round because
some some DJs came and cut to.
Speaker 3 (01:05:34):
The bpms that he was playing. Yeah, exactly, you know
they'd be comfortable in there certain VPM range.
Speaker 16 (01:05:39):
Yeah, y'all, y'all watched that one round that went like
two three extra rounds and he was throwing them super
slow beats and then super fast at that.
Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
Yeah, I've seen that. He took that one beat and
then he slowed the real down. He killed that plan.
Speaker 8 (01:05:50):
There was one ppm, but when he slowed it, really
I was like, oh damn, that's a workout right there.
Speaker 1 (01:05:55):
And then and then it's funny because all the sudden
next to you, you're like, look at a fast beating.
He threw the one at him. Yeah yeah, I was like,
oh snap, now it's going down.
Speaker 7 (01:06:04):
Yeah, it was quick stuff. So that was cool.
Speaker 9 (01:06:05):
Shout out to lotus. Man, he really did his day tonight.
Speaker 1 (01:06:08):
Yeah. Oh yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:06:09):
So man, is there is there any like VP ranger
that you would say, like that's your sweet spot or I.
Speaker 16 (01:06:15):
Like kind of like a mid tempo like maybe like
I think I think I do best when it comes
to like maybe seventy to ninety just in that like
not super slow, not super fast in the mid range
because you can hit a lot of cool double time
stuff without having to work too hard, but at the
same time, like hitting the the one like in the
(01:06:36):
terms of like just on on beat, maintaining the the
tempo without doing halftime or double time.
Speaker 1 (01:06:43):
It fits. It's fits in my pocket pretty good for that.
I think.
Speaker 16 (01:06:47):
I think if I'm gonna do better next time, I
would work on my my my super fast tempo.
Speaker 1 (01:06:52):
Is I gotta work on that a little bit?
Speaker 7 (01:06:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:06:54):
Yeah, because I.
Speaker 16 (01:06:54):
Don't really practice that very much, so I don't really
try to flex like that most of the time.
Speaker 3 (01:06:58):
But when you say you are you talking to like
that one twenty five or you talking about when he
hits hits that drumming bassed spot.
Speaker 16 (01:07:03):
Yeah, yeah, like anything else like one hundred and forty
faster than that, Like you know, I'm saying that super
drum and based stuff. So I don't typically rock that
that fast, but if I need to, I'm gonna work
on it the next.
Speaker 1 (01:07:14):
Month, because hey, you never know, notice is gonna hear like,
oh John B's is up? Watch? Watch? Watch? Would I
give him?
Speaker 3 (01:07:21):
He was practicing the week spot, let's do it hey,
And then you know another thing that was dope to
about the competition. There was a lot of people that won,
and you were one of them that was like, yeah,
I'll go first.
Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
Yeah, yeah, Yeah.
Speaker 16 (01:07:32):
I think it's fun because it's like I think, for me,
at least, if I don't have their stuff in my
ear first, I feel like I can handle my cuts,
like I can be more natural on the first round,
because it seems like if you have them going first,
you're you're you're inventorying what they're doing and kind of
message your brain a little bit, at least for me.
I don't know, but I like going first.
Speaker 3 (01:07:52):
I never really thought about it that way because yeah,
because it's kind of it's it's like like like a
like a question and answer, So they're saying something you're
already kind on their like wavelength.
Speaker 1 (01:08:01):
But then if you go first, it's like you set
the tone.
Speaker 16 (01:08:03):
Yeah, you kind of set the stage for for what
the what the sound is gonna be. I like going
first better. Every time I've done the Rock Paper Scisitors
and these battles, I've always gone first.
Speaker 1 (01:08:12):
That's the way I do it. And then you also
you also called him out, like, hey, you did it wrong.
Speaker 16 (01:08:18):
I mean it was very clear one two three shoot
and he did one two shoot. I'm like, that's not
how we doing it, man, So you got to clean
that up a little bit. I actually ended a rock
paper scitters battle at a bar.
Speaker 1 (01:08:29):
Oh snap.
Speaker 16 (01:08:30):
I got into the finals and I lost, and I
was so mad about it. I had a fucking dope
name too. It was Scissor Wizard. Okay, yeah, so I'm
serious about the rock paper decisions. I'll come hard with
that ship. So watch out, hey, that that's pretty hilarious.
A rock paper scissor battle at a bar. I can
only imagine, like how how intense they got.
Speaker 1 (01:08:48):
It was.
Speaker 16 (01:08:48):
Everyone had character names and it was funny as hell,
and like the top the top grand prize.
Speaker 7 (01:08:53):
Was the day.
Speaker 1 (01:08:54):
Oh that dope was it? Like the sheet got warm
and ship it was one. It wasn't one of those.
It was a It was a basic bedet. But you
have a I should have wanted a costume. I'll do
it next year. I'll wear a costume. I'll do it.
That's gotta be careful with the speeds and ship all.
Speaker 16 (01:09:17):
It's cool checking in with y'all.
Speaker 3 (01:09:18):
Good night, No yeah, John B's hanging out. Where can
people find you before you get out of here?
Speaker 5 (01:09:23):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
You can find me on Instagram.
Speaker 16 (01:09:25):
I haven't really been on there for a couple of years,
but I've been kind of, you know, lowkey, but it
is John Be's be easy, the one at Instagram, so like,
that's my user name.
Speaker 1 (01:09:35):
So all right, there it is. You know what it is.
Speaker 3 (01:09:37):
You can catch him here at the Bee Junkies Institute
to sound next month.
Speaker 1 (01:09:41):
Round two are Gang Gang. So thereang saying, relay, how
are you feeling about it? Bro? How come you didn't answer?
There was a lot of LTP up in there. How
come you were not one of them? You know, it's
a good question. I just uh, not any for battling it.
I guess Jewels almost put my name in the hat,
(01:10:03):
but they were filled up. I was like, oh they
were okay. They have a ring sixty two, and I
know I was. I looked at it.
Speaker 3 (01:10:09):
I actually I haven't scratched on it every time every
time we come though.
Speaker 1 (01:10:13):
That's what Jewels tells me. He said, hey dog, there's
a sixty two. They break that up for you. Hey dog,
sixty two. I'm not getting on the sixty two.
Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
I want to try all the other mixers because all
of them are better than the sixty two.
Speaker 1 (01:10:25):
I feel.
Speaker 8 (01:10:28):
Yoh man, that's sixty two is browing you a long way, bro.
No it remember when you were still rocking the old
and when you first got that, I was like, okay,
just stepping on up right, I know it was.
Speaker 1 (01:10:38):
Right right when I first started the Dodgers, I was like, yo,
I need that in my life.
Speaker 3 (01:10:43):
But I mean that was the mixer then, that was,
that was the mixer standards. There was a whole like
four months period where that was that was the mixer.
Then people playing told playing out those little buttons and
a little buttons.
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
Yeah, I was like, yo, I could do that too. No,
there like three of them are broken there because yo,
yo shock. You remember back in the days yo eighty
and one those effects and everything. He loves those sampoos
and everything. Yeah.
Speaker 15 (01:11:04):
Here's a question, when when you finally move on, if
you do from the sixty two, what are you gonna
do to I don't memorialize that sixty two.
Speaker 1 (01:11:13):
I don't know. I'm just gonna put it on the shelf.
Really into chocolate or that's right, right, something out of
all things chocolate. I'd say, I'm gonna turn it into
a sixty two rollo. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 3 (01:11:30):
Eight ms, eight ms sharp caramel and chocolate, mixed cuts,
combo cuts cup, combo cuts mixer.
Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
Hey, maybe I should get a skin for my mixer.
You're gonna put a Britney Spears skin right there on yo.
Speaker 8 (01:11:45):
Okay, So look, now he's gonna put the one when
she was in that car and she crossed the leg.
Speaker 14 (01:11:49):
Hey.
Speaker 3 (01:11:50):
So, so I saw something on Instagram and I'm gonna
remake this because I guess in nineteen ninety.
Speaker 1 (01:11:57):
Seven, Barbie came out with a twirling spin Barbie Bro.
Speaker 3 (01:12:01):
Someone just made the commercial, but they put they put
Britney Spears spinning under the sting and set up with
that dog. Now, I gotta get one of these down
Barbies for fifty dollars. I'm gonna buy it on eBay.
It's fucking forty seven ninety nine. I already found it.
I'm gonna buy it, and then I'm gonna remake the
packaging so it says twirling spin Britney.
Speaker 1 (01:12:19):
It's gonna be like a definite show piece something my ship. Yeah,
Swiss style.
Speaker 3 (01:12:24):
Up in here oh, started hitting the notes like he's like, yeah, watch,
I'm about to make a looper right now. But yeah,
twirling spin Barbie Brittany is coming up. I'm saying it's
gonna it's gonna be my next thing.
Speaker 1 (01:12:39):
Shock. What do you thought about that battle? Which one?
This atogether, the whole thing together, it was dope.
Speaker 4 (01:12:45):
We're dope?
Speaker 1 (01:12:46):
Yeah, that one with Isla and uh who was it up?
I guess I forgot what he's getting this. That was
pretty dope. That their long U rock crapersus a game.
Yeah that was long, but yeah, son, they were hitting
the same ones like at least fucking twenty times.
Speaker 9 (01:13:07):
Everybody was like, oh, then again there's the Yeah, it
was just going they're gonna get it all.
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
They got it a dead and this is like that's
what we tend to see. Everyone go home.
Speaker 9 (01:13:17):
Yeah right, and then what that the one where Lotus
slowed down that beat like really slow.
Speaker 1 (01:13:25):
Yeah, that's what we were just talking about. Yeah, that
was crazy. I was like, that's so hard.
Speaker 3 (01:13:30):
Yeah, no, I can't do the slow ones, not that slow, son,
Like I already lost damn it.
Speaker 1 (01:13:37):
You got me. Slow ones definitely a workout. It's a workout. Da,
it's a workout.
Speaker 15 (01:13:42):
It makes you, uh not hide things in the fast.
A lot of times people do fast beats electro beats
and stuff, and they're just kind of power cutting. But
if you slow something down to like a sixty fifty
five sixty.
Speaker 1 (01:13:53):
What is it called precision precisions scratch or something like that, Yeah,
super technical good. It's called get good. It's called practice
a lot more hours.
Speaker 3 (01:14:05):
Yeah, right, man, I'm saying, and then you know what
that that since you said that to you, I think
it's cool too that some of the some you could
tell there was some students that were in the battle too,
And I think that's dope too because honestly, for them
just starting their their scratch journey, for them to be
in like in a battle like this, it's dope because
I mean they're starting in the right spot, they're ready
(01:14:26):
here at the ends to the sound, and then they're
entering the battle. So that's dope, you know what I mean,
Because this is something even though yeah, you know you're
in here with some cutters just.
Speaker 1 (01:14:35):
To get up there with you know, you're gonna go
up against someone that's a lot that takes cuts exactly.
Speaker 9 (01:14:40):
You're just like you're just gonna go up there and
you know you ain't got it what the other guys got.
Speaker 7 (01:14:44):
But you.
Speaker 8 (01:14:46):
That's what I told you when he went on there
that one dude. You know, I was like, you know what,
you gotta give it to him.
Speaker 1 (01:14:51):
And that's a lot of heart right there.
Speaker 7 (01:14:52):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (01:14:52):
Yeah, that's it's a lot, a lot of pressure, is
a lot like it's just the courage to do it.
Speaker 15 (01:14:57):
Yeah, in the sessions one thing, and even that walking
into a session with a bunch of heat, it's difficult.
Speaker 1 (01:15:04):
So but then you have the spotlight on you.
Speaker 8 (01:15:08):
But that's to show you how much his hunger it is, right,
that's it's right there, man. So it's like I could
just imagine him in a year or two. You know,
the dedication is going to be ridiculous. Yeah, you know,
because it does take a lot of balls to get
up there. Those killers, you know, why not cut you
know what I'm saying. They don't even want to go
to the bathroom back, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
Those Those are killers, man, Those are killers. Man. Yeah,
you bro, it was pretty dope, David. He's the Davers
Jay Range.
Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
I mean, I'm just saying dog and anytime you come
into somewhere where there's a lot of lost tone hitters
in the mix, it's gonna be Beast Moode.
Speaker 1 (01:15:45):
And then and then yeah, there's just so many other
hitters up in here too. Oh yeah yeah, so and
then and then you have.
Speaker 3 (01:15:51):
I Q Prolifics and Peach Show judging. So it's like, yeah,
I'm saying it's it's dope, but they put it together
is dope. Next round first Saturday of the month, going
down Round two next month, and then rounding it up.
Speaker 1 (01:16:06):
I believe he said in June. Right, So this is
the first one.
Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
It's the premiere.
Speaker 1 (01:16:11):
You know what I'm saying. I like it. It's only
gonna get better. I'm saying, Sony gonna get better and better.
Speaker 7 (01:16:16):
You know what it is.
Speaker 3 (01:16:17):
I'm saying, the be Junkies Institute of Sounds Scratch League.
Speaker 1 (01:16:20):
In full effect.
Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
Round one is in the books. I'm gonna see who
we who else we can get. We gotta get some
more of these competitors.
Speaker 1 (01:16:27):
I'm about to go get me another tacos. Look you're hungry,
hurry up, because looks like they're gonna start packing it
up to around.
Speaker 8 (01:16:37):
You're not who told me who told me somebody was
like today night, there's only one bathroom.
Speaker 1 (01:16:43):
Son, I gotta leave that ship alone. Gemini was hold
you though that I don't want to talk about it that, yo.
That ship tastes good. Everything was good on it.
Speaker 4 (01:16:56):
Man.
Speaker 8 (01:16:57):
Yo, it's like you know this, there's a line over
there right now, so you know, shout out to the
taco people.
Speaker 1 (01:17:02):
Man, I wish I knew what their names were. Ship
shot them out and what's not.
Speaker 7 (01:17:07):
What you two already?
Speaker 1 (01:17:11):
Yeah, yeah, that's why you're laughing because I'm like, yeah,
I know what you mean. I want to taco to son.
They think, all right, y'all, let's take a taco break.
We'll come back. Tables for two, tables for two, tables
for two, tables for two.
Speaker 12 (01:17:26):
All right, get ready, tables.
Speaker 4 (01:17:28):
Tables, tables for two, Ready for interview?
Speaker 8 (01:17:31):
So ready yo, eight and we are back. And we
got two lost tom pro. We got to the pros's
moving on to the next round.
Speaker 1 (01:17:42):
Yes, sir, we got that. They We got damn one
up in the building underneath. We got James Ring on
the other mic. What's going on, man, it's going on?
Move so okay.
Speaker 3 (01:17:58):
So so I got a serious question for you, j Rain,
what was going on while you were playing Rock paper
Scissors up there?
Speaker 1 (01:18:06):
Bro?
Speaker 3 (01:18:06):
Like I mean because there you were having some technical difficulties.
Speaker 1 (01:18:10):
Bro, there's j in my games. My st you're trying
to throw them off? Yeah yeah, John he he kind
of thought I put some ship, but no, I was cool.
This is me, you know that is j R.
Speaker 3 (01:18:28):
For someone that's so on beat with the fader, You're
really off beat with that Rock paper scissors. Bro.
Speaker 1 (01:18:34):
Dude, Well because the thing is like a count but
just four.
Speaker 14 (01:18:38):
So like I had to like kind of think, Shoot,
I don't know who's gonna start first, So like I
was waiting.
Speaker 1 (01:18:44):
