Speaker 1 (00:00):
For those who may have not caught it, well, let
me close them crap here, way too many windows open.
This is the closest we're getting to an an event announcement.
By the way, Oh great, it froze. That's nice. Come
back please, there we go. Now we're back. Okay, it happened,
(00:23):
ladies and gentlemen, it happened. Close you please you. My goodness,
I didn't realize I had every app on my computer open.
Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen to the stream. Look at
this Greg jaw As we act just confirmed it. We
(00:47):
can do Lawrence right blah, it says if did. Oh
my god. So, in case you missed it, from Greg
Joswiak himself, this is Apple's head of marketing Mac your
calendar's winky face, very funny, good job. We have an
(01:13):
exciting week of announcements ahead starting on Monday morning. All right,
So there's a lot to unpack there. I think two
main things. There's a week of announcements. So I interpret
this announcement from Greg as Okay, we are not getting
(01:33):
all three max on the exact same. Oh my god,
you're gonna break this again on me? Can I switch?
It won't it won't let me. Okay, let me try
the webcam because the iPhone is just not having it today.
I guess all right, I want this behind me though.
(01:56):
If there's a way to do that, there we go.
That's probably little better. I'll take it well too much.
Sekoya is getting worse by the minute. Oh brother, But yeah,
I think we're gonna get a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday sight refreshed.
That's what I'm anticipating. He's saying, starting on Monday morning,
(02:17):
So the same day Apple's releasing iOS eighteen Dot one
with Apple Intelligence, we're also going to get a new
Mac of some kind, probably with the M four chip.
Very likely, but very likely. Now it's a confirmation from
Apple themselves. This is not a leaker, This is not
an analyst. This is the head of marketing from Apple
sending out this animation with the Winkie face and everything,
(02:40):
saying that we have you know, Mac your calendars, so
it's gonna be Mac refreshes. This is bizarre though Apple
has never prematurely like announced that they're going to have
site refreshes. Usually you just wake up one day and
it happens. But they decided now to just give everybody
the heads up and say we've got a week of
an announcements ahead starting on Monday morning. So who knows,
(03:04):
Maybe maybe I'm interpreting this wrong. And the exciting week
of announcements means that they start out with the iOS
eighteen Dot one launch on Monday, and we don't get
any new Max. But it is confirmation if you were
looking for it. So no, I was not clickbaiting with
my last video saying that M four Max were happening
(03:25):
next week. It's it's definitely happening. Now seems like it's
all confirmed at this point. Margel says, so are we
getting an event or a website refresh? Yesn't. We are
M four AirPod Pro. We need M four AirPods Max exactly.
Rix's I think website refresh and that's it. Yeah, they're
pre pre announcing the website refresh. Basically, they announced that
(03:47):
they are making announcements. Where's the M four polishing cloth,
where's the M four Apple Watch? Is that? What's next?
New AirPods Max? Yeah, honestly at a new AirPods Max
if we're being real. But there's your announcement. If you
were looking for confirmation, I don't get how Marcus saying
(04:09):
that this is the biggest release week since Apple Silicon,
I mean, M one, Macpicpro, M two, MacBook Air. How
is that bigger than those I suppose? Yeah, that's a stretch.
I don't know if I agree with Mark German saying
that this is the biggest thing to happen to the
Mac since the Apple Silicon transition that was just such
a drastic There was redesigns, and there was new silicon
(04:31):
that was substantially faster than before this. There's one redesign.
The Mac Mini will look different, but Macmcpro's looked the same.
I Mac will look the same. We'll get USBC magic
keyboard and Magic mouse, which is kind of cool, but
not a redesign magic keyboard. It's literally just Type C.
They might Margell says they probably have a fifteen minute
(04:53):
video explaining each of the new products, like what they
did for the M two Max slash MacBook Pro. I
don't know if it'll be a fifteen a video just
for faster performance. You know, Airpod's Max didn't get a
fifteen minute video. It just dropped on the website one day.
The truth is it's it's inconsistent. Apple doesn't have a
pattern that they necessarily stick with every time. That's why
(05:16):
he said, since I would, I would agree that the
M one pro MacBook pros was probably a bigger deal.
M two Maccacare at least was a redesign, so that
felt like a bigger deal, even though the design wasn't
all that great in my opinion. In my opinion that
M one MacBook Air was better in many regards other
(05:37):
than bezels. But yeah, they added back mag safe to
the macpaguarea. I guess that's a big deal, but never
had an iMac. Is the M four a goodbye when
it comes out? I think the M four Mac Mini
is going to be the one to get because if
you were looking for a new Mac setup, you would
not be buying the monitor that's in included with the
(06:00):
twenty four inch iMac. You just wouldn't. The M four
Macmini will give you much more flexibility with external monitors,
which I believe even Mac people are not that picky about.
I don't think Mac people care that much about having,
you know, a two hundred and sixty plus pixel per inch.
I don't think you would go out of your way
(06:21):
to buy a six hundred dollars four point five K
twenty four inch monitor. But that's that's basically what they
make you buy. If you're buying an iMac. It's like
buying a Macmini with a mandatory twenty four inch monitor.
And I think you would much rather just buy any old.
(06:42):
You can get very very nice monitors now, like the
one I'm using. I'm biased because they did send it
to me, but still the one I'm buying was less
money than a pair of AirPods. It was like a
couple hundred bucks for a thirty two inch fourteen forty
P which is been fine for me, But you could
do four K. I just wanted the higher refresh rate.
(07:04):
You could do a four K monitor for much cheaper.
That's bigger, and just put the Macminnie on the back.
You could like mount it in the way or whatever.
So I would I would recommend going Macbinnie. I don't
think the iMac is worth it, but Jason says, I'm
sticking with them one pro sixteen inch MacBook. I don't
need a new one. I'm with you. I'm not planning
on upgrading. The Mac Minni is what I'm most excited for. Though,
(07:25):
because it hasn't been leaked and it hasn't been redesigned.
It has been redesigned, but we don't know what it
looks like. Somehow Apple has kept that. Oh my god,
I am so sorry. That is way too loud. I
didn't realize they added music to the animation. Holy crap,
there you go. It takes up the whole thing. Thank
(07:52):
you for ug. Carson Calvacci says, I need a fifteen
minute explanation on Cowboy Frog capability. Yes, the new Mac
Mini will support Cowboy Frock. I quit Max after they
took away in video. They don't have any decent GPU,
at least for the three D apps I use. The
graphics has gotten much better and more recent generation, particularly
(08:12):
with the M three trip supporting rate tracing, and the
M four is supposed to be even better than that.
But yeah, if you don't if you don't optimize the
software to take advantage of the R architecture for GPUs,
yeah it just won't work. Sorry for the Apple music
Jump Scare, I apologies. I apologize that scared me as well.
(08:35):
I want a Halloween themed sequel to Scary Fast. Scary
Fast was great, not only because it was like Halloween
Night themed, but also it was the first Apple event
that was like all shot on iPhone. Why not mag
Safe Magic accessories for Mac Minimax, Studio, MacPro, and iMac
because European Union also not everybody has mac Safe. A
lot of people, especially iMac users. iMac users aren't using
(08:59):
the mag Safe three connector. So the idea is crazy,
wild idea. Right, what if you could charge your keyboard
and mouse with the same thing you charge your iPhone
with the same thing that comes in your iPhone box,
or your iPad box or your airpod's probox. All of
these things come with a USBC cable because USBC is
(09:19):
the best port. I'm not even using MAGSA three. I
charge my MacBook via USBC. The keynote is starting. Yeah,
there's a very very early hypestream. We just have to
work our way up to it. Oh, I know what's wrong.
I'm blind. I didn't see that I could adjust this.
This is so much better. You probably don't feel as
claustrophobic when I zoom out like this. There you go,
(09:44):
much bigger improvement. Okay, let me move that down there
we go all right, Now we're cozy. Now we're comfortable.
Thank goodness. The Tech podcast, this always happens, always happens
when we record early the channel members, it wasn't dated.
Several channel members already watched the podcast. But Rich is
(10:04):
amazing on what the graphics are better? But not CUDA
is a non starter for a lot of machine learning use.
I believe you. I have no clue what you're talking about,
but I do believe you. Maybe it'd be easier if
I switch this like there we go. Yeah, there you
get a little bit more Mac action in the back.
(10:25):
You can improve the lighting a little. There we go.
How's that? Is that? Any? Is that any good? But
in case you missed it, I'm just sending it around.
This is the announcement, and Jaws is confirming that Monday
morning is when the Mac of refreshes begin. Mac your calendars.
(10:48):
They have an endless supply of puns. It's beautiful. Oh
oh my god, thank you for the superchat virus. That's
completely unnecessary, he says. Is it still worth buying an
M two Macbigair all these years later? In your opinion?
I'm still using mine and I have not regretted it
since then. No, I don't think you can buy in
my opinion, if you're a MacBook Air customer, you probably
(11:11):
don't care all that much about performance. The only caveat
to that is the M two. MacBook Air has been
around now for several years, so there's nothing wrong with
buying it. Just don't buy it brand new from Apple
because you can find them much much cheaper, certified, refurbished,
or on Amazon renewed. Amazon renewed, by the way, has
a ninety day return policy, so even if you buy
(11:33):
it and you find out you don't like it or
there's damage on it, usually there isn't. By the way,
it's been a pretty consistent experience, but you can buy
one and use it for two months and then send
it back if you decided you didn't like it, or
you want to wait for them three or whatever. I
just joined. Can you explain what's going on? Greg? Joswiac
(11:53):
just announced via this animation on Twitter that they are
going to announce new Macs throughout next week. But it
starts on Monday morning, so I interpret that as Monday
we're gonna get one Mac, Tuesday we'll get a different Mac,
and Wednesday we get a different Mac. So my speculation
is that it's gonna be something like MacBook Pro Monday. Monday, Monday, Monday,
(12:17):
MacBook Monday. I'm for MacBook will get you know, the
M four MacBook pros, which will have three USBC ports
and sixteen gigs of RAM on the base model, hopefully
at the same price. We don't know the price yet,
and then the next day on Tuesday, we'll get the
M four iMac with the USBC keyboard and mouse. It'll
charge the exact same way, just with Type C instead
(12:38):
of Lightning. And then on Wednesday we'll get the redesigned
Mac Mini. That would be my guess. It could be
in any order, but that's my prediction, is that they're saying,
you know, Mac releases are gonna be all next week.
This is confirmed, by the way. This is not a leak,
This is not a rumor. This is an Apple released
animation from Greg Joswiak, who is the head of marketing
from Apple. But yeah, their press releases, it's not technically
(13:01):
an event, but they're announcing that they're going to make announcements.
And that's why I decided I could do like a
two minute recap video, or I could just go live
and see everybody's reaction. In real time, which is kind
of fun. The live streams don't perform as well for
my channel, but I don't care. I enjoy reading the chat.
(13:22):
I would say it's it depends on your definition of
an event. There may be videos that go live next
week when the announcements happen, but it will not be
a live stream. But to be fair, even when we
have an Apple event, the events are not live really.
I mean they're live broadcasted, but they're pre recorded, so
(13:45):
we're blurring the lines of what an event announcement is.
But can we just give a shout out to this
MacBook Pro that's live streaming. I'm using the onboard microphone
on my m one Max MacBook Pro. This thing still
handling it like a champ. I'm using the onboard microphone.
I'm using the on board webcam. This is not continuity camera.
(14:07):
And look how well it is masking out my face
and hands as I hold my hand in front of
the animation. This is a three year old MacBook. And
look at how good the neural cores are at articulating
what to mask out with my hand and my head
as I move around like this MacBook is crushing it
(14:29):
and fan it's not even hot, the fans aren't even on.
It's live streaming all this. Yeah, like you can so
all of that to say that, well, yes, we're getting
new M four MacBook pros in just a couple of days.
M one variant is still incredible. It's still exports videos
super fast. The speakers are fantastic. I use them every day.
I don't even have a dedicated spare of speakers anymore.
(14:51):
I just use my onboard MacBook speakers because they are
that good. The webcam is great, the microphone quality is great.
It's just favorite Apple product. The sixteen Pro Max has
been a big disappointment. Can't get freaking continuity camera to work,
So I guess I don't need this mounted up there anymore.
But AnyWho, let's see why not a redesigned Apple TV
(15:13):
box because it has been the same TV box designed
since two thousand and eight. How many different ways can
you design a box You need to invert the camera.
The problem is whenever you do screen capture, it inverts it. Anyway. Hey,
thank you Penn for the super chat. Very nice of you. Wow.
I can't wait for the event, although I'm not buying
anything that might get announced happy with my M two Max. Yeah,
(15:36):
M two Max is plenty. Hey, we got Randy in
the chat. There's Randy. He says, agreed, M one Max
are so good that the only way they can make
you upgrade is by software locking you. That's probably the
approach they're doing. But so far, I don't think I've
been software locked out of anything. Maybe next week, that's
what they're going to announce, is that these new M
four Max have new Apple intelligence features that are only
(15:59):
possible thanks to the sixteen gigs of memory and the
redesigned neural cores. So your M three and your M
two Max can't do some kind of mac os intelligence features.
Maybe that's what it is, because this is definitely intelligence
themed with the color thing lighting up around the edges
and all that dpax is finally the base fourteen inch,
(16:21):
we'll get sixteen gigs. That's most likely what it's looking like,
because the Russians have already got their hands on an
M four MacBook Pro and unboxed it and done geek
bench tests. But to be fair, we don't know technically
if the Russians had the base model. We just know
that the models that they had were using the base
M four chip, so we assumed it's the base model,
(16:42):
but you could always spec an M three base model
MacBook Pro to have more RAM. It's only two hundred
dollars extra if you cared about that. People made a
big deal out of it. It's like, oh, sixteen hundred
bucks for eight gigs of RAM, and I'm like, uh,
just just speck it up. If you really want sixteen
gigs of RAM. It's still cheaper than the outgoing model,
because before, if you wanted a fourteen inch macbik Pro
(17:04):
you had to spend two thousand. Now you can spend
sixteen hundred. The specs were a little worse, But yeah,
I think the RAM bump is most likely. But the
caveat to that is we don't know if the RAM
bump comes with a price bump. It's entirely possible that. Okay,
now there's sixteen gigs of RAM by default, but it
starts at eighteen hundred instead of sixteen hundred, in which
(17:25):
case nothing really changed. There's just a cheaper model that
they've removed because it upset too many Techi people that
we're not going to buy that model anyway. I've been
seeing the M one Pro hold its price similar to
the most recent models. Look around, they've been around for
a while. You can get an m one pro MacBook
Pro for probably close to one thousand bucks now, and
(17:45):
it's just an amazing piece of piece of hardware. Just
everything about it. It's got a pro motion display, it's
a high dynamic range Mini LED panel, it has a
great webcam, great microphones, great speakers, it's just massive trackpad.
It's got decent io, you got HDMI, got the SD
card slot. Things you won't find on the MacBook Air.
(18:07):
Fine have sixteen gigs of RAM now for two hundred dollars.
More good, more good. Try to try to fine tune
my evil Tim Cook, morna good, morna two hundred bucks
price bump is just around the corner. Well, to be fair,
there were no price hikes with the iPhone lineup, and
(18:29):
there was also no price hikes with the new iPad Mini,
even though the RAM was doubled and the storage was doubled.
So we got double the RAM, double the storage, same price.
Hopefully they feel like doing the same thing with the MacBooks,
but I'm guessing most of the tech community is gonna
be like ungrateful about it. They're gonna be like sixteen gigs. Buh,
(18:50):
it's about time. They're not gonna be like got the
more Ram. Do you over this already? Do you think
it's a refreshment event? Oh yeah, they said, they said
in the by the way, I guess I zoomed in
on the animation so people can't see it. But it's
right up here. From Greg Joswiak himself on Twitter, the
superior social media threads is pretty good. I know, mac
(19:16):
your calendars. We have an exciting week of announcements ahead
starting on Monday mornings. Stay tuned. Those are the words
from Apple's senior vice president of marketing, so he's in
charge of all the announcements and everything. So this is
from Apple, guys. This is not this is not a leak,
This is not a rumor. Of course, ian 's elbow
(19:37):
letting him know right away. No continuous corners. Ian never
skips a beat. But I don't know how the iPad
many is so disappointing to people because it's exactly what
we all said it would be. I don't plan to
upgrade until my d one pro stops getting OS updates.
You just wait, slide, They're gonna come up with some
(19:57):
AI feature that you're gonna really want, and they're gonna
find a way to make it only work on the
M four chip and not the M one. That's what's
gonna happen. So strange how this is still just one
tweet by Greg even for a press release week. They've
never pre tweeted it. I know that is weird. Usually
site refreshes, there's no pre announcement. It just you wake
up one morning and it happens. This is the first time.
(20:20):
That means it's confirmed. It is. Yeah, this is This
is not a leak. This is a straight up announcement
from Apple. Why not add a micro SD card slot
on macbick Pro because pretty much every micro SD card
in the world comes with an SD card adapter, so
why not add a sea fast card reader as well.
You know, there's all kinds of different SSD types that
(20:41):
you could build into the side. They probably just went
with the most common one, which is an SD card.
Micro sds are pretty common, but typically devices that record
to micro sds also will have USB, so you can
just plug them in via Type T. They got to
give us M one users all the AI stuff. Oh
they should, They absolutely should give us all the AI stuff.
(21:01):
But will they Will they find a way to software
lock us out, or maybe they'll lock you out via RAM.
Maybe they'll say these Apple intelligence features we've come up
with require sixteen gigs of RAM, so you can still
use them if you have an M one chip, but
only if your M one chip is equipped with sixteen
gigs of RAM or more. Maybe they'll do that. I
(21:22):
don't know when Max might get the iPhone fifteen treatment.
Apple's stupidity. Not a live event, but there will be
stuff happening beyond just a press release. Correct. But to
be fair, even the live events are not live anymore.
Apple hasn't had a live event in years. All the
events they've had are pre recorded. Some of them are
broadcasted live, but they're not taking place live. So is
(21:43):
this really that different? This is this is the closest
thing we're getting to a Mac event, all right. That's
why I'm live, That's why we're talking about it. I
just bought on October the three Max MacBook Pro fourteen
inch and thirty four mile Oh my god, why did
you do that? There's still time. If you're within the
two week return window, you can send it back on
October fifth, fourteen days October nineteenth. Wow, yeah, you're right
(22:07):
outside the return window. I am sorry, soul Kel go
back to the Apple Store and beg, beg them to
take it back. My only one that doesn't really care
about the AI stuff, not at all. Boy, you are
by far not the only one I would say you
are with. Like most people, there was a lot of
hype yesterday because Apple launched I was eighteen dot two,
(22:30):
which means develop for Developer Beta. So if you're on
the Developer beta, you got image playgrounds, jen Moji, visual intelligence,
and chat TBT integration on the system level. And I
tweeted in thorough bullet point fashion exactly why I don't
care about any of those features. Jen Moji's are just gimmicky.
(22:55):
There's not a big list of I don't use ninety
percent of the emojis on my phone, and Apple's telling
me to make more. I don't have a lack of
emojis in my life personally. Maybe gen z does, but
it's hardly going to work in a bunch of third
party apps if they're you know, other Android users reading
the emojis, or there's a bunch of websites that aren't
going to know how to read emoji, so it's just
(23:15):
going to default to sending a JPEG, which is just
kind of cringing and weird. I think it'll be about
as gimmicky as memojis and emojis and slow fies, which
is that a few techie people know about them, but
the vast majority don't know. Also, image playgrounds is not
a new concept. There's dozens of free apps already, like
Facebook Messenger. I think open ai has one, Soora or something.
(23:40):
But yeah, there's a million apps that let you come
up with AI generated Gemini does it. I'm sure, I
know Grock does it, but I guess Grock costs money.
But still, it's not a new thing by any means
that you just put in a prompt and have it
spit out an image. It look all AI images look
the same. They all have that fake artificial look and
feel to them. You're going to use it a bunch
(24:01):
when it comes out and then never again. And Chat
to BT integration, it's like just download an app. You
don't need to buy a whole new phone and run
developer beta software just so that you can access Chat
to BT. You can maybe chat or text and or
call Apple first before making a trip. Yeah, good luck,
good luck with that. Tom Mavericks says you are gen Z.
(24:24):
You were born in ninety nine. That's not true, but
I was born in ninety eight, But yeah, that technically counts.
I'm like the very very first gen Z. I'm the
oldest zoomer. iPad Bennie does not go on sale in
Argentina until March thirty. First, that's a long wait, geez,
Why do you gotta wait that long? Does the image
feature from the iPhone sixteen event work on iPad pro
(24:46):
and one? I assume so, but I don't knowing it's
an iPad, I'm guessing they haven't got to it yet
because iPad always has to wait before it's mastered the iPhone.
The iPhone has to eat first, you know, just like
how you eat dinner before your dog eats dinner. That
kind of thing. Show him whose boss, the iPhone is
(25:07):
the boss? He gets to Apple Intelligence first. I'm so mad.
I only bought it because my twenty nineteen Intel sixteen
inch MacBook Pro so I upgraded. First of all, I
don't think you should have upgraded to the M three
in the first place. If you were coming from an
Intel Mac, you would have been totally fine buying a
refurbished M one sixteen inch MacBook and probably would have
(25:27):
saved two thousand dollars and still it would have been
a massive improvement. I thought you were a millennial. I
don't know where you got that impression. Everyone has different
opinions on when the timelines drop. But if you google it,
I think that the first response is that gen z
is people born in ninety seven or later. Some people
(25:49):
say it's two thousand or later, means I can clean.
That's great. iPad is that some of the same features
as my Max I think getting features at the same time,
but they might be behind iOS. I would not be
surprised if it's behind iOS, because iOS always gets things.
iPad os is always last to everything, almost intentionally. My
(26:14):
one pro Bacbook Pro fourteen inch overheats frequently. Already run
all the diagnostics. What should I do restore it? I
would ask Apple. I am not tech support. Everyone always
assumes I know exactly what's wrong with their computer. No,
I haven't had any overheating issues with mine, so I
don't know. I would check with Apple, not random YouTube
(26:34):
live streams You're far less likely to get customer support
and technical support help in a YouTube live stream than
you are just asking Apple. And if you ask Apple,
they'll probably tell you to buy a new one, or
they'll run diagnostics on it and tell you if the
fan is broken, and maybe they'll fix it, or maybe
(26:55):
they'll not. I don't know, but I just know the
best way to start. If you're ever having technical difficult
please with your Apple hardware, best thing to do is
check with Apple support first, not with random YouTubers. Taylor's yeah,
this is not Telos of tech support. It's just Teylossi
of tech AnyWho. M four Macmennie may kill all fire
(27:16):
sticks in the world as a media consumption device. I
don't think so, because fire sticks are all like one
hundred bucks and the M four Macmeni is probably gonna
be at least six hundred bucks, possibly more, maybe more
like seven hundred bucks. M let's see, taylos of going
from Intel to M three max is such a big jump,
literally blew my mind. Yeah, and I'm telling you, going
(27:38):
from Intel to M one max is such a big jump,
and it blew my mind. You don't know what you
had if you never had it. So if you just
saved your money bought an M one Max, you'd have
money and you'd be impressed. Bingo. I don't know what
you're using on your Mac, but I would rather have
the money if I were you. No reason to upgrade
(27:59):
from an M one Pro. The hardware is the same,
minus support being better and a better chip set. Yeah,
I mean there's some reasons to get an M two
at least or an M three. Like if you wanted
an Hdmi two point one port, you don't get that
on the M one variant, which is kind of an
edge case. I don't know if that many people care
about having Hdmi two point one, but yeah, that's one
(28:22):
of the small differences. Nothing we'll ever touch the high
form when the high from when the M ones came out, Yes,
that was a big deal. That was a huge, huge
upgrade just hardware, software, silicon everything. There was never an
upgrade that substantial. We'll probably never get one that big again.
Amazon servers might get a problem once Macmini size changes.
(28:45):
I would be surprised if Amazon used macmini's, but yeah,
they're gonna have to update them. Maybe that's part of
the redesign, is they make them more rack friendly. There's
an option where they specifically let you buy Macmini's that
are just slide right into the racks, rather than buying
Mac Mini that you have to then buy a separate
rack for because obviously Mac Mini out the box is
just a box. It's just rounded corners and flat edges.
(29:10):
So if they redesign it kind of like the MacPro
where you have an option to check out to make
it rack friendly and the rails are just built right
into it, that might make it easier for enterprise use.
Everyone deserves the latest and greatest. Take the plunges. Live
a little. I'll feel better about plunges I've taken. Eah.
I would say, save your money. We're facing more and
(29:33):
more challenging financial situations. You know, the difference between the
cost of living and the average income is constantly widening,
which is all the more reason to live a little
by putting some money aside, investing in mutual funds or
the stock market, you know, not financial advice, but don't
have to find some special stock. I'm not telling you
(29:55):
to put all your money in Tesla or Apple or
any specific company. I'm just saying the S and P
five hundred as an average return rate and you just
invest that money and forget about it. You can invest
one hundred dollars a month, which isn't much. You know,
you save one thousand, or you save twelve hundred dollars
by going with an m M one MacBook Pro over
(30:17):
an M four MacBook Pro. Just by buying a couple
of years older model, you got twelve hundred bucks. Extrapolate
that out. You can invest one hundred dollars a month
over the course of a year. If you keep that
up over the course of forty fifty years, you'll probably
be a millionaire. And that's the magic of compound interest.
It's a good idea. Don't reference the real world. I
(30:38):
come here for escapism. Yeah, Tesla's today was good, but
doesn't mean it will be good tomorrow. If you bought
Tesla stock two years ago today, you'd have the exact
same amount to list. If I imagined price drops are
coming for M three Max MacBook Pro by the resale market, yeah,
(31:02):
I don't think by Apple. Apple will likely stop selling
all the M three MacBook pros unless by certified or furbished.
Is there any leaks about the RAM Yeah. The only
leak we've got is that the base model might make
the jump to sixteen gigs. But that's about it. That's
a rumor. It's not even really confirmed because well, yes,
(31:22):
the Russian YouTubers that unbox the M four MacBook pros
already theirs had sixteen gigs of memory, but we don't
know for a fact if they have the base model,
they could have just had a higher spec. So that's
why I won't say it's confirmed, but it's looking quite possible.
Especially with Apple Intelligence features being more ram hungry, it
would make sense that they update the Mac line to
(31:44):
be all sixteen gigs by default, So I hope. So
when is the announcement coming? Is it Tuesday next week? No,
it starts on Monday. That's what Jaws tweeted right up here.
We have an exciting week of announcements ahead starting on
Monday morning. Greg joswiac is the zenior vice president of
Marketing at Apple. This is not a leaker, this is
(32:05):
not an analyst. This is an Apple employee that's saying, Mac,
your calendar's winky face. So it's Mac related announcements. Exciting
week of announcements ahead starting on Monday morning. So I
took that as we're probably gonna get one new Mac
for three days Monday, Wednesday, Tuesday. Well maybe it'll be
like I'mac Monday, MacBook Pro Tuesday, Mac Mini Wednesday, or
(32:28):
any number. I don't think they're I don't think they're
gonna announce all three Macs on Wenday. They're stretching it out.
They're spreading it out so that they kind of dominate
the news cycle over a longer period of time, because
it means every day for the course of three days,
they're gonna be announcing something. It could be four days
or five days too. I don't know, but I'm guessing
three because they've done that in the past. But sometimes
(32:50):
Apple changes things. I know there are no rumors pointing
towards this, but I would love to see a refreshed
M Fourmatbook error next week. I get it. That would
be cool. But all the rumors are saying the M
four MacBook Air isn't coming until spring of twenty twenty five.
So if they have a spring event, that would usually
be around March or April. Sometimes it's April, sometimes it's March.
(33:11):
It's not the same time every year, but around you know,
sometimes it's may. Sometimes you get a random May event
thrown in there. But yeah, sometime in the spring, we're
probably gonna get the M four MacBook are But sadly
not tomorrow. Jaws tweeted, Jaws will bite your wallet. He's coming,
(33:31):
He's coming for your wallets. Here, here he is. They
have to upgrade it to sixteen gigs. The iPhone SC
four is gonna have eight gigs. It'd be embarrassing to
leave it at eight gigs on the Mac. It would
be embarrassing. But I'm just saying it's not impossible. It
wouldn't be good. But do I recommend an M one
iPad Pro depends on the price, but yeah, in your
(33:51):
use case for it. I have lived so far, very happily,
for the past year and a half, maybe more without
an iPad. The phones have gotten so dang big. This
feels like an iPad Mini anyway. Everybody's asking, where's O lead,
where's one hundred and twenty hertz on my iPad Mini?
Here it is, Boom, this is my iPad Mini six
(34:12):
point nine inches. That makes it one inch smaller than
the seven point nine inch iPad many five. So these
phones are getting so dang big. I don't need a
tablet anymore, and these phones get more features, and they
get features faster than the iPads do. But yeah, I
would highly highly recommend an M one iPad Pro before
I recommend an M four ipet Pro just because M
(34:35):
four IPD Pro doesn't have much to offer. In my opinion,
it's just a lot of money and you can buy
a used IPEd pro for much, much cheaper. I really
do think iPhone fifteen Pro Max, M two, Mac Pro
and IPD Mini is the go to setup. Why the
Mac Pro ball Star? That's what I don't understand. Why
why not a Mac Mini? Sorry? Why not a Macmini
(34:58):
or a Mac Studio. What's the advantage with going with
a Mac Pro. I think you can live with less.
I think iPhone Mac AirPods. That's my ecosystem. That's pretty
much everything I get by with that. You can't do
split screen on the sixteen pro Max though, while you
count on the iPad Mini. And here's what I discovered
after years and years of doing split screen. It's annoying.
(35:20):
It sucks, especially on an iPad Mini because it's too small.
Because anytime the keyboard opens, everything is covered. You're constantly
cramming all these things together. I can multitask so easily
just by swiping back and forth. Just like this, I
can multitask just find on my iPhone. But how often
(35:41):
are you genuinely interacting with both apps at the same time. No,
you've only got one set of eyes that they can
only fuck. Your eyes aren't like split screen, you know.
On a Mac it's a lot easier because the windows
can be resized and the screen's much bigger. But on
those smaller iPads, I feel like you're better off just
doing one screen at a time. Anyway, if you really
(36:03):
want a good multitasking device, I would say the Mac
is the better buy. But the sixteen pro Maax your
actual phone right now. You always used older iPhones right now.
There was a phase where I was reviewing older phones,
But now that my phone is used as a primary
work tool for not just TELSIF, but my other job
(36:23):
at Tello Trucks as well, I've decided that having a
newer phone with USBC is too helpful to useful. So yeah,
I like to review older stuff occasionally, but yeah, the
sixteen Proax is my actual phone. Give us features anyway.
If base M four gets sixteen gigs, would M four
pro get thirty two or twenty four gigs or no
(36:45):
upgrade at all. I think it's pretty likely they'll still
start it out with sixteen. There's a lot of people
that buy these macs and don't need a ton of RAM.
It'd be nice if they op the default, but it's
not a guarantee. And for MAX, I believe has always
been thirty two gig. The Max chips have been thirty
(37:06):
two gigs by default though for a while. Now excuse me,
whoo oh you guys didn't know I had a second job.
Oh my god, look it up. I'm working for a
startup company. I can't believe there's still people who don't
know this. I'll put it in the chat if you
(37:26):
want to know I'm working I'm running the social media
for a startup company in the Bay area. And I
just said the link didn't work. Hold on YouTube. Chat
always gets weird with links. Let me try it like this.
(37:47):
There it is now it works. Yeah, second message, let
me remove the first one. Yeah, if you want to
know who I'm working for, it's an ev startup company.
Very cool stuff going on. Just got off a meeting
with them, right Before I went live, there were reports
that the base M four IPD Pro had twelve gigs
of RAM modules, even though they only had eight active.
(38:09):
So maybe the bass M Macwigpro will have twelve gigs
of RAM. They might up it a little bit. It's possible.
It's possible. Base model is it? You ask me why
I went with the pro model? My Firefox tab just
crashed explaining why the base model isn't enough. I don't
mean the base model, I mean the studio. The Max
(38:30):
Studio has the exact same chip as the Mac Pro.
How is this gonna work? One product a day? That
would be my guess. But yeah, Greg Jaws is saying
there's gonna be a week of announcements starting on Monday morning,
So I would guess there's gonna be one maca day
for three days. That's my prediction. Do I have any
predictions for M four Pro and Max. We haven't really
(38:52):
heard much beyond the base M four. I predict it
will be faster, fast, chip will go fast. I don't
know what other things can you predict. You could just
throw numbers at the wall. It'll have eighteen gigs of
RAM by default instead of sixteen. Apple will go with
these random arbitrary numbers. A product today, an Apple a day,
(39:17):
stay back doctors. Fourteen pro is good is pretty good.
USB c those same with thirteen pro. Yeah, I would
just go older because you'd probably save money that way.
The fourteen, I think is a better phone because the
fifteen back has a terrible coating. You can scratch it
with your fingernail. That's not true. I've owned an iPhone fifteen.
I could not scratch the back of a fingernail. Maybe
(39:38):
you got the wrong color. Maybe it's much easier to
scratch with it, but it's no, it's frosted glass. It's
the same thing as the pros. I know what that
material is. Uh. The fourteen is not a better phone
because the thirteen is almost the exact same thing, but cheaper,
same port, same display, same size, same buttons, same chap.
(40:02):
The iPhone fourteen is just a slightly more expensive version
of the thirteen. Worse color options as well. Fourteen has
far worse colors than the thirteen. The black color I
scratched it off table well, sounds like a you problem.
I'm just saying. I'm just I'm sorry it's scratched. But
(40:23):
most people have a case anyway, But also I had
the blue iPhone fifteen. That thing did not scratch. I
also have the exact same frosted glass on the Pro
models and do not have issues with scratching. Where's the
iMac Pro Well, I'm reading the chat off of my
iMac Pro right now. Actually, who needs extra performance than
(40:45):
M three Max? I would argue, who needs more performance
than an M one Max? Because I am still going
strong with the M one It's still very powerful. But
what's exciting to me is the Mac Mini actually getting smaller,
getting frontal io, getting more USBC ports, Like the Macmini
is going to be dope. iMac is kind of boring.
MacBook pros kind of boring. Unless you're in the market
(41:07):
for the base model, then there's some interesting developments. Potentially
you might be able to get next week a sixteen
hundred dollars M four MacBook Pro with sixteen gigs of memory,
five hundred and twelve gigs of storage, three USBC ports.
You know, that's something you just can't do right now.
If you go with the base model, you get two
(41:29):
USBC ports. You can buy the thirteen for a similar
price and sometimes even the same price as at thirteen.
Why not just go for the fourteen with a little
better specs, because it's not better specs, it's the same
fricking chip for a small price increase. Because I'd rather
have money it's the same chip. I know many people
(41:53):
that are getting by just fine with iPhone twelves. By
the way, iPhone fourteen was the most skippable year. It
was the most basic, bare bones, minimal upgrade. So that's
why I say thirteen all the way, go thirteen or fifteen.
Fourteen ain't worth it. Also, you can get a mini thirteen.
(42:14):
Thirteen Mini is amazing. A friend of mine was rocking
an iPhone seven for like seven or eight years, and
his phone wasn't working anymore, so he decided to finally
make the upgrade and he switched to the thirteen Mini
and he loves it. It's incredible. Thirteen Mini. I guarantee
you will be much cheaper than an iPhone fourteen. It's comfortable,
(42:36):
it still has a great oh that display, it has
a great camera. Fourteen Pro. I don't know what they're
going for, but I would rather have a fifteen. Fourteen
Pro is going to be a lot of money to
spend on a device. With lightning, which lightning is on
its way out. And I think when you're considering an
iPhone upgrade, you should buy something that you know is
going to last as long as possible. And fourteen pros
(42:58):
made a steal, which is extra hay, extra fingerprint E.
I don't like that generation if you're going used, if
you're trying to save money. Does M three have AI
built in already? Yes, it do. All Apple silicon chips
have some kind of AI. But if you're talking about
Apple Intelligence features, yeah, that just requires an M one
(43:19):
or newer I don't know if you answered that already.
But do you think the new Mac Mini will have
a price increase? I really hope not. It's a possibility
because of the redesign and because of the spec bump
with the M four chip, But so far we haven't
seen Apple hike price as much as of late. I
think the last price hike was the O Lead iPad Pro,
but I feel like that was justified because the panel
(43:40):
is substantially more expensive. The O Lead panels are far
more expensive than LCD panels. But the Mac Mini physically
is getting smaller, which means it should technically be cheaper
to build. So my guess is it will be the
same price. I hope that's the case. I just really
really hope that sixteen gigs of me memory is default.
(44:01):
But I think Tesla add Usbcport into Robotaxi screen. Yeah,
I mean not in the screen, but yeah, there's USBC
Ports and there's been USB Sports in Tesla's for like
five years now. That's that's not a new idea. Basically,
one year ago, found a new M one macpoc pro
sixteen inch, sixty four gigs of memory, one terabyted storage
(44:25):
for twenty three hundred dollars. Insane deal. Use it for branding,
graphic design. Feels perfect, zero need to upgrade, great content. Yay,
there you go, Rogue Wave Creative shout out to Roguewave
for taking my advice. Yeah, m one macbuk pros are
still awesome. They're still very fast, they're still very capable,
and you can save a lot of money with that
extra money. You can invest it in mutual funds or
(44:49):
the stock market and get decent returns over time. And
then million dollar decision. Where's the compound interest calculator? That's
what we need to find here, where to go? There's
my pickup truck company. By the way, let me find
this investment calculator. I'm going to explain to all of
(45:15):
you why going with an M one pro instead of
a M four pro or whatever is a one million
dollar decision. Let me compound this. Okay, average and start
(45:42):
of each month. Okay, sorry, I'm just plugging in the data.
Go yeah, let's see average return rate. What does it
take forty years trying to find the bare minimum? Oh,
(46:09):
that's close. That's close. Okay, that's pretty close. Okay, so
it's a long time, but I know we got a
view a lot of young viewers watching, so over the course,
here it is here, it is all right. If we
(46:32):
invest one hundred dollars a month for fifty years, then
that turns into one point four million dollars assuming at
ten percent return rate, which is pretty close to what
you can expect over the long haul with the stock
market and mutual funds and you know, s and P
five hundred that kind of thing. Getting a free ta
(46:54):
losed finance lesson. This is not financial advice. I'm not
a financial advisor, but of course one hundred dollars a
month isn't much, and maybe fifty years is too long.
Maybe you want to retire and stop working in thirty years.
So still that turns into two hundred thousand, one hundred
bucks a month. But let's say you do two hundred
dollars a month. That turns into four hundred grand after
(47:17):
thirty years. Okay, that's probably as much money as y'all
are spending on coffee. Most of these days. You've got
a Starbucks every day. You're probably spent around two hundred
bucks a month up at three hundred dollars. After thirty years,
that turns into six hundred and eighteen thousand dollars. And
then you could just live off the dividends from that
(47:38):
that would be that would be paying out close to
two thousand dollars a month if you just pulled four
percent of it out. But yeah, see, when you're young,
this is when you should be thinking about putting money
aside because you have so much time for that money
to grow. And that's why I advise spending money on
(48:00):
cheaper products if you need them, rather than buying the
newest one. Just spend an extra grand here grand there.
While it only may feel like an extra one thousand
dollars today, over the course of thirty years that can
turn into hundreds of thousands of dollars. Then tell everyone
to get the older products weird times. Yeah, I'm letting
you know that the new products aren't that good by
(48:23):
reviewing the new products. That's how it works. I hope
the world is livable place in thirty years for me
to spend six hundred thousand dollars. So far, so good. Yeah,
casual Dave Ramsey Enjoyer, that's right. What if I need
a Bugatti like now, I want to retire in four months. Well,
(48:47):
the less you live on, the easier. It is included
in your telosuv tech view free of charge. Older products
age really good. Yeah. That's my main point is that
as a guy who has bought the latest hardware, I
can tell you that the older hardware is just fine.
And I regret buying this. This is a mistake. I
didn't need to buy this. I should have just stuck
(49:10):
with the fifteen pro So take it from me as
a guy who's bought everything. This is what I would
tell my younger self. What if we abolished the FED
and messed with inflation and that's interest rates and payouts
on deposits. Great idea, A bullish. Why is Apple doing
so bad though? I mean it'll take long for us
(49:31):
here in Europe to get an Apple Intelligence at the
same time as Jim and I. Well, part of that
is because of the European Union, but space money. Tim
Cook didn't know there is an option to name groups
on I message. How did he do not know that? Well,
he's getting old, guys. He's kind of a boomer in
a way. Chromebook in ninety bucks, Motorola. I'm still the
(49:53):
Apple sheep. I'm still telling you to buy MacBooks. I'm
just telling you to buy the cheaper ones. Someone asked
earlier if it's still worth buying the two Macbookare. I
would say it's still worth buying the M one Macbookare.
The M one MacBook Are actually had a better heat
sinc Than the M two. The M two Macbookare is
not that thinner light I mean it's thinner, I guess,
but it still has a decent amount of weight to it.
(50:13):
It's only point one pounds lighter than the M one Macbookare.
M one is still super fast. The speakers are also,
I think better on the M one Macboocare than the
M two Macbookare. Don't forget the sixteen Pro Max. You
got it so that your wife could have the fifteen Pro. Yeah,
but I was I was mainly motivated that the microphones
were going to be better and the capture button was
(50:35):
going to be cool, and it's not. I never used
camera control. It's not that good. The phone still overheats,
which I thought they were going to fix, and the
new microphone suck, so everything I was looking forward to.
I would have returned it if it weren't for the
brand deal saying that you know we want you to
We'll cover the price of the phone if you showcase
(50:57):
our cases. And had it not been that brand deal,
I would have just kept my fifteen Pro and my
wife would have upgraded too, Like an iPhone twelve, that
would have been the cheapest solution. But because that brand deal,
this became the cheaper solution. But they weren't going to
sponsor me if I just featured an iPhone twelve on
the channel. They wanted to feature the sixteen for me.
I think Craig Turnis or Jaws are good options for
(51:18):
next CEO. I am all on team Turnis. Apple marketing
does annoying things and confusing things, and that's all under jaws,
and Apple software still does annoying and confusing things like
shipping the phone without Apple Intelligence features, despite claiming that
it's all built for Apple Intelligence from the ground up.
We've had bugs and things we've been complaining about with
(51:40):
ipeds for years, with iOS rollouts for years, lots of
issues with software. That's all about Craig Turnas has done
nothing wrong. John Turnas is just in charge of the hardware,
and I think that's Apple's strongest division. John turnis oversaw
and did everything in regards to transitioning the Mac lineup
(52:01):
from Intel to Apple Silicon, and we got the greatest
max we've ever received. We got incredible hardware from the Mac,
and that's been John Turnas's main focus is like a
lot of the Mac hardware developments. So I would say yeah,
I would say Turnus is the best of the best.
Do I feel guilty taking a sponsor Yeah, I do,
even though everybody still is like Drew, just do more
(52:23):
sponsorships is fine. I'm like, ah, I had a really
good track record there for many years being able to
say I never did a sponsored video, and now I
can't say that anymore. So I don't want to do
it again. I don't like it. I've done it now,
and I'm I don't want to do it if I
don't have to. There are some you know, sometimes you
(52:44):
could find yourself in a financially tight situation where you
just need the money. I'm not in one of those situations,
So I am not going to do more sponsorships. But
maybe down the road, if times were tough and I
really needed the money, maybe I would do more. But
if I don't need the money, I don't want to
do it again. John Turnas is the one that revealed
(53:04):
the price of the pro Stan. Yeah, but he didn't
set the price. John's job is not to price the objects.
He's just in charge of the hardware. That's the main
thing he's oversaw, and I think he's done an amazing
job compared to Craig and Jaws. Turnas is the younger one,
(53:26):
and he's done more things right. What announcement that I
miss from Apple is asking Nicholas, So we have it
straight from the horse's mouth, straight from Greg Jaws. We act,
He said, Mac, your calendar's hunt intended. We are getting
new Max next week and he said starting on Monday.
But they are announcing them throughout the week, so we're
(53:46):
not getting all the new Max on one day, but
the first day is Monday, that's when the first announcement happens.
Do I think that camera control will be the next
three D touch, something that they will cancel after two
to three years. Yes, I absolutely think that, due to
lack of you usage after a few generations, they will
eventually stop putting a camera control on the iPhone. I'm
surprised it god out of development, honestly, Alexander, thank you
(54:11):
for the superchat. Very nice of you, he says. It's
rumored that Apple will add a vapor chamber cooling next
year to the seventeen to fix the cooling issues this
year they only added a graphine layer and not a
vapor chamber. It's true, but keep in mind that the
rumors also said it will only be on the seventeen
Pro Max. They did not say they're adding a vapor
chamber to the seventeen Pro, seventeen Slim or Plus or whatever,
(54:34):
or the regular seventeen. So you're gonna have to buy
the highest end Pro Max iPhone in order to get
the vapor chamber. I don't know if that's worth upgrading
single handedly, because I have a hard time believing it
that it will fix all the issues because they said
they had improved the heat sink on the iPhone sixteen lineup,
and it's still overheats. So I'm concerned that. Sure, they'll
(54:56):
put a vapor chamber, but then they're going to put
a more powerful chip that will run hotter and it'll
still have the overheating problems. So aren't iPhones the coolest
running iPhones? They used to be, not anymore. I've still
had overheating issues on my sixteen I had them on
the fifteen. Who's in charge of hardware design like the
looks of the product? Hopefully not him, because the iPhone
(55:17):
has been too similar looking for too long. I would assume.
I don't know if he's head of design, I don't know.
He probably has a say in it, but I don't
think there's much change you could do. There's a billion
different Android phones with different camera bumps out there. Yes,
I wanted to look more like a pixel, but would
that make you happy? Would you all be happy if
(55:39):
the iPhone just looked like a pixel with an Apple logo?
I would, just because I want to get rid of
the camera wobble. But I discovered that with the case
I can get rid of camera wobble anyway, because my
phone is just always propped up like this. Sorry you
can't see it. There you go. My phone is always
propped up like this and that way face ID works
and I don't have to do this on a table
and the camera don't happen because my phone is just
(56:02):
you know, mounted here, sitting here like this. But anyway,
that's why I always get the white case the white iPhone,
because it reflects the most amount of light. What leaks
have I heard of the next HomePods? They might have
a screen and they might move. I think we've talked
about that in earlier videos, But yeah, they might. They
might be adding a display, I honestly thought. I think
(56:24):
vapor chamber cooling is the most overrated feature that the
tech community constantly talks about. I don't know. I heard
people who got the Pixel nine say that it ran
a lot cooler because now every Pixel nine has a
vapor chamber, which is pretty cool. Is the keyboard any
better on iOS eighteen or is it just my wishful thinking?
I have noticed no difference. I think it's the exact
same as before. Let's see, I don't mind the handworming
(56:48):
feature during winter. There you go. Oh sorry, Rashie dom says,
I think you missed my Superjet. Sorry let me scroll
up here. Um, yes I did. Sorry, so sorry, Rashie. Okay,
I'm on a twenty eighteen fifteen inch Pro and it's fine.
Don't use it for heavy task. Plus it got some
(57:08):
KOI support holding out for tandem oled refresh. Is that
a good call? Yes, yes, that is a good call,
And I'm sorry I didn't read the Superjet right away.
I totally missed that one. It's my bad, but yes,
I think if it's your Mac is working for you,
there's no reason to replace it. Don't get caught up
in all the Apple silicon and Apple intelligence. I need it.
I need it, if it works, if it gets the
(57:30):
job done, just keep on using it. I think that's
the best way to live. Use what you have until
it stops working, and then find the most cost effective
model that will do what you need. In this case,
I would say like you'd probably save a lot of
money just going with an M one Pro MacBook. That's
what I'm using, and it's a great machine. I have
(57:51):
very little complaints with it. The only slight edge case
as to why I might be interested in an OLED
macbric Pro is occasionally I'll use my MacBook Pro outside
if I'm traveling or if I'm editing on the go,
and the display being brighter would be easier to see,
but that would probably kill the battery life, and I
bet it overheats than it has to dim anyway. So again,
(58:13):
if you're on a budget, you could easily, I think,
get by with a refurbished M one pro MacBook, but
holding out as long as possible is a great call.
I would say, I don't know about the redesign. A
lot of people just keep assuming that if the MacBook
Pro gets an OLA display, it's going to be redesigned.
(58:33):
I'm not convinced that it's necessarily going to be a
different chassis. I guess they could make it thinner, but
that would just make it even more like a MacBook Air.
What about an M one pro versus M three, both refurbished.
A friend asked me recently which one he should choose.
I said the M one Pro because he does very
light video editing. But I wonder if I missed anything.
(58:55):
I believe the M one Pro would have more ports
than the M three, and I'm guessing it would be cheaper.
The M three got that price reduction when it came out,
so you could buy a fourteen inch mini led MacBook
for sixteen hundred bucks. But I've seen M one pros
lower than that, and you can have three USB C ports,
(59:18):
which I think would be cooler. So that would be
my recommendation. Whichever one's cheaper. If you've found a way
to lower the price. If you found a way to
get the M three MacBook Pro cheaper, then you can
find any M one, then I would say, sure, go
for it. But the current chassis is perfect. I don't
want anything change. The only suggestion I would have is
I want four USBC ports. I know they had that
(59:40):
back in the day, but I genuinely used all four.
I have run into situations where I'm using all three
and I need another one and I can't use it.
So maybe those are situations where I should be using
mag safe charging, but I'm sorry, it's just too danconvenient
to charge on the right side. If you use the
(01:00:01):
Vivid app, you get a thousand nit brightness in any situation.
It adds sections to the brightness control works great for me.
I've heard of it, I know about it. I just
I have a fundamental principal thing. I hate the concept
of paying money just to boost the brightness. That just
feels wrong to me. But yeah, I should probably consider it.
I think I have used it. I think there have
(01:00:23):
been a situation where I use the free trial, where
the free trial it just brightens half of the display,
and I was like, Okay, cool, I'll just use that
side of the display. So I just like edited my
video with one half of the screen brighter than the
other because I'm cheap. But yes, I know there are
ways to get the mini led to go brighter. I'm
just a little nervous about it because I feel like,
(01:00:43):
if Apple didn't want you to do that, why why
didn't they? You know, if there was no damage, if
there was no worries about what would happen to the
display if it ran at that high of brightness, why
wouldn't Apple let us you that. That's what I don't get.
There's probably a reason that they don't let you set
(01:01:04):
the brightness that high by default. There's something a little
fishy about requiring a third party app to boost the
brightness up, and I'm worried about I'm worried about it
damaging the display longer term because I do intend to
use this MacBook over the long haul. I don't have
any intention on replacing it in the near term future.
(01:01:25):
And if something were to happen to it, if my
MacBook Pro was damaged or lost or stolen or something,
I would just buy another one same year. I wouldn't
get an M three, I wouldn't get an M four.
I would just buy another M one Max. I would
just replace the spec I have, except used or refurbished.
Let's see, I'd much rather have a USBA port. It's
still so important all the time for me. Get over it.
(01:01:47):
USBA is dead. If you've got old tables that are USBA,
get adapters or replace them with Type C because Type
C is the future. USBA has been around far too long.
It has overstep. It's welcome. We can't be flipping the
port back and forth. Which way do I plug it
in for the rest of our lives. It's ridiculous. We
got to have one port for everything. That's the future.
(01:02:10):
Then we don't have to worry about which port it is.
It's just they all fit. You just have to worry
about how fast it is. Is there any way I
can make the iOS keyboard easier to type on so
I don't make so many mistakes? Sounds like a skill
issue to me. Imagine trying to find a used macput
Pro eight terabytes of storage. You could do it, and
(01:02:32):
if it was an unexpected replacement, I would probably be
willing to live with less, like four terabytes or two terabytes.
But we have this thing called the Internet, and it
lets us filter our eBay listing searches. I could find
one you want to race. Let's see. Let me go
to eBay right now. Let me see how fast, timey timey,
(01:02:55):
eight terabyte MacBook Pro um. There it is done. Found
one twenty twenty one Mac mcro and one max thirty
two gigs of RAM, pristine condition, twenty two hundred dollars,
open box, free returns, top rated. Dang, that's a good
(01:03:17):
deal that and that's from a seller on eBay with
ninety nine point two percent satisfaction, so that's not a scam.
But wow, that's exactly my spec for twenty two point fifty.
That's impressive. That's a lot of local stories, same color,
(01:03:38):
same ram, same chip, same size. It's exactly my Mac.
Oh that's cool. eBay is great. I come across the
need for usbaports all the time and feel frustrated every
time I need to whip out the dongle. Where where
are you finding all these USBA ports? Tell them to
(01:03:59):
get it? Who are these people? Fifteen seconds? I stand
correct it, it's right there. I'll send the link if
anybody wants to buy it. It's not mine or anything.
It's not sponsored. But oh is it not? Let me
send it? It's too long? Dang it? How do you
shrink the link? Oh? Well, well it didn't take long.
(01:04:24):
I just went on eBay and I looked up eight
terabyte Macmocpro and it was like the sixth listing. That's
what I would buy. Okay, I'm ready for my MacBook
Pro to be stolen. Drew. Is there a huge advantage
to buying from Apple certified refurbished? Not really in my opinion.
I mean, Apple certified refurbished will basically feel new. They
(01:04:47):
tend to replace any component that has the slightest sign
of wear, so they tend to replace the battery and
the glass and the aluminum, so it feels practically new
I think usually Apple even certified refurbished. It's nice, but
it's usually more expensive than just buying an open box
(01:05:09):
or refurbished, which you can find on Amazon or eBay.
And everyone always freaks out as soon as you suggest that, like, yeah,
maybe you should just buy it from Amazon or eBay,
and they're like, oh, I'm gonna get scams. Someone's gonna
scam me, and it's like, guys, there are buyer protections
built into these services. These websites have been around for
a long time. You can buy it like this one
as long as it has free returns. I've returned things many,
(01:05:31):
many times. This one is thirty day return. By the way,
the MacBook problem looking at which is a better return
window than Apple. Apple only has a fourteen day return window,
So say the Amazon renewed is usually a ninety day
return window. So you can buy it, try it. If
you get it and it has a big scratch on
it and you discover, oh I hate this, I can't
(01:05:52):
use this, you leave a negative review and you send
it back and you get all your money back. But
most of the time that's not what happened. Most of
the time, if you buy it and it's from a
trusted seller and it says returns are supported. You get
the product, it's in good condition, and it functions, and
you save yourself a bunch of money. Jetting Chin says
I stopped buying Apple refurbished since I found back market.
(01:06:13):
I've heard a lot of people talk about back market.
I've used it myself, but yes, apparently some people are
very happy with it. I use a USB to USBC adapters,
so I could use buy USBC to lightning cables in
my car, but the adapter melted, but luckily it came out.
I didn't expect that many people to buy a macpick
Pro with eight terabytes of storage and already start selling it. Well,
the truth is not a lot of people probably bought it,
(01:06:35):
but the people who did buy it are having a
hard time selling it because most people probably don't need
eight terabytes of storage. I do, though, I have a
bunch of locally stored b roll, and when I'm traveling,
I like to travel lights, so I don't want to
have to fumble around. I've done that. I've done the
thing in the past where you have an external SSD
where people are like, oh, just buy the base storage
and then buy an external drive if you need more,
(01:06:56):
but no, I literally have terabytes of b ROLL that
I pull from for my videos that have to be
stored locally because I'm traveling so I don't always have
access to a server, and if I'm in a tight place,
like on an airplane or on a bench, I don't
like having a USB SED drive fumbling around next to me.
(01:07:17):
I've done that and it's not as fun and it's
not as convenient, and it's harder to travel with. So
I was like, no, I need as much storage locally
as possible, and right now I'm consuming. I think I'm
at like six terabytes, six and a half terabytes used,
so I will. I wouldn't have been able to get
by with four terabytes. But it's cool to know that
(01:07:40):
for twenty two hundred bucks I could replace my MacBook
if something were to happen to it. That's actually kind
of like a freeing feeling. That's kind of like, oh, okay.
To be fair, the three USBC ports are better than
the foreport because the new MacBook uses three individual USB controllers,
so each port has full bandwidth, whereas the Intel MacBook
had two controllers. I get that, but most of the time,
(01:08:01):
I'm not looking for full speed on all four. Most
of the time it's like I'm doing like power video importing,
and then i want one more for like wired headphones
or something. So it's okay if one of them is
not at full speed, one of them is not at
full power. I just like having the option to plug
(01:08:21):
in two things from either side, whereas now it's like, oh,
I gotta go on this side because I'm charging on
the right link. Please. Back market is really good. Apple
certified or furbished is amazing. It's basically like getting a
new device. I got my iPad pro eleven in second
gen two fifty six gig for five hundred and thirty
(01:08:42):
nine pounds, which is a good deal. It's true. Yeah, no, there,
They're definitely good. If buying from Apple, it comes with
a full one year warranty, which means if anything goes
wrong with it, they'll fix it. But usually I don't.
Apple stuff is usually pretty well built, so I've never
had to utilize that. What speed does the MacBook Pro
charge at? It depends on which one you have, in
(01:09:03):
which charge brick you have, but my sixteen inch MacBook
charges at up to one hundred and forty watts with
mag Safe, and I think up to one hundred watts
with Type C, which is plenty fast. I've actually never
needed it to charge that fast. It's very rare that
I'm in a situation where so I actually prefer that
it charged slower as to not overwhelm the battery. Since
(01:09:25):
you have all of your work stuff on local storage,
do you back up your MacBook Often? No, I don't
really have anything else to back it up too. And
also I've had very good, reliable, consistent local storage with Max.
I have a Mac from twenty eleven that's not even
a solid state drive, but it still has every single
file I've had on it. So funny enough, the backup
(01:09:48):
I used to back up stuff. I used to have
backup drives, and I'd buy third parties things that i'd
plug into to back up everything, and yet those have
gone bad. So I'll spend money on the backup and
the backup will fail, but the local storage doesn't fail.
So after that happened to me several times, I was like,
now I'm not wasting money on backup storage. That stuff
(01:10:09):
probably goes bad more than the local stuff. But also
I back up a lot of the b roll that
I use for my videos onto YouTube because it's free
and they let you store up to eight k sixty
frames a second, so it's and you can re download
it if you need be. So yeah, I'm pretty happy
with just backing up anything that's super important to YouTube.
(01:10:32):
But I trust local storage because it's gone pretty well
for me so far. I'm a sucker for a sealed device.
Man just hits different. Unless I'm going back a couple
of generations to save a ton of money. It's your money.
You can spend it as you want. I just know
that you are spending money just so that you can
peel the plastic off the screen, which takes you twenty seconds.
(01:10:53):
And then the moment you take it out of your
device and start using it, you have a used product.
You really only have new MacBook for a few seconds,
then you start using it. Now it's used. So all
that you're doing by buying a used open box product
that's thousands of dollars less is missing out on that
ten seconds of unboxing and then same experience. I use
(01:11:18):
slow five watch chargers that have always been around whenever possible.
I five watts wouldn't charge my MacBook, but even sand
disk and Samsung drives fail. It's true. I've had my
backups fail. M let's see. So basically it takes skill
to type fluently on the iOS keyboard. It does. Yeah,
a baby can't do it. It's not something that everybody
(01:11:40):
can just immediately do perfectly. But I actually have a
harder time whenever I switch to an Android phone. It
just takes some getting used to. You think external hard
drives fail because they aren't being actively used like local storage.
I don't know why they fail, but maybe it's because
they move around a lot more. Maybe they're more rigidly
secured inside the MacBook so there's less physical motions shaking
(01:12:01):
them around or something. I don't know, but maybe the
third party companies. You know, you look at all the
backup options and you're like, huh, there's a lot. I'll
go at the cheap one. And the reason it's the
cheap one is because it has a higher failure rate.
But you don't know about that. What's the battery health
in my MacBook? I don't know. I haven't checked it
in a while, but the battery life is still amazing.
(01:12:23):
It's like a twenty one hour battery life, I think,
so even if the battery health has gone down, I'm
not worried about it. But it's three years old and
the battery is at eighty eight percent, so that's pretty good,
but honestly kind of low considering that my battery only
(01:12:44):
has one hundred and ninety five cycles. But I purely
blame mac os for that because you know, oftentimes I
leave it plugged in, and the optimized battery charging did
not pick up on any routine. Because there are sometimes
days or weeks where my mac book is plugged in
and it would just charge it to full and leave
it there, which is not good for the battery. That's
(01:13:04):
probably why I've had more degradation than I should. But thankfully,
the battery life was already insanely good, So even with
eighty eight percent battery health, I'm happy with it. Like
it easily lasts me throughout the day if I'm on
the go and I'm using it away from the away
from home, when a reliable backup. Get a cheap one
(01:13:26):
terabyte Windows laptop, no, thank you, I would rather die.
Sorry AnyWho. I just bought the Studio Display open box.
Saved five hundred dollars was in perfect condition, and they
even put the paperback on the screen. That's awesome. I
love hearing those stories. Save your money when you can,
(01:13:47):
that's wonderful. What is the most iCloud storage you can get?
Is it eight terabytes? Yeah? I think so? Or no, don't.
I thought they recently announced like twelve terabyte iCloud storage plan.
Let me find that close storage plans, and then you
can get Apple one, which adds up to additional two terabytes.
(01:14:12):
Compare plan. This is like C plus. Yeah, it goes
up to twelve terabytes, and then you can get Apple
one on top of that. So fourteen terabytes of iCloud
if you want. But that's sixty bucks a month plus
Apple one Premiere, which is like forty so it'd be
like one hundred bucks a month. But yeah, you could
(01:14:32):
technically have fourteen terabytes. Scratches are my pet peeve. I
personally ensure my devices don't get scratched by doing this
crazy thing. Being mindful to pay substantial money for a gag.
It just kills me. Well, that's the good news is
that they rate them usually unused. Like if the product
says it's pristine, it probably doesn't have any scratches on it.
(01:14:54):
So the belief that if you buy anything open box
or used, that it'll have scratches is just not true.
In my experience, you can find pristine products that are
open box because other people who resell their products are
also the type of people to be mindful towards those products.
Have you heard about the qualcomon arm legal feud. I have,
(01:15:17):
but I think min chi Quo said it's it's not
going to go anywhere. It's just a settlement thing. It's
it's not going to affect anything. He said, it's overblown.
So in case you're wondering why, I'm not worried about
it or talking about it, that's why. But AnyWho, I
gotta get going here. I've got other other jobs outside
of telosif by the way, I'm working for Tello trucks
(01:15:39):
if you haven't look them up. We're on pretty much
every social media platform and if you see any posts,
it's probably me. So thank you all for your support
and thanks for the super chats. And we're getting new
Max just a couple more days, guys, and we'll talk
about the differences and why they're probably not worth it.
But that mac Minie, I want to see the new design.
I'm really really excited for that Mac Minnie because Mini
(01:16:01):
is better. And this is an all electric Mini truck.
Five seats, five foot bed, three hundred and fifty miles
of range, and it fits in the form factor of
a two door Mini Cooper. It's incredibly compact vehicle but
with the same interior space of a Toyota Tacoma. Still safe.
Our CEO specialized in vehicle safety testing, so we have
(01:16:21):
a bunch of patented proprietary safety technology that goes into
this thing. But still five hundred horse power, zero to
sixty and four seconds midgate, so you can fit a
four by eight foot sheet of plywood in the back
with the tailgate up. You can't do that on the
cyber truck. You can't do that on a Rivian, you
can't do that on an F one to fifty Lightning,
but you can do it on our little truck. I
(01:16:43):
like the Macmini. This is the Macmini of trucks, powerful
in a small form factor. Thanks all, see you there,
Bye bye.
