Speaker 1 (00:20):
Hello, and welcome to the special edition of Christmas Movies Spotlight.
I'm your host, Don Mac and I'm here with my
friend and colleague and co host Pam.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Hey, Pam, how are you this singing song? I'm doing okay?
You know what I was expected. That's been a minute
by humbug all right. I thought before you said anything,
you would go bom bug. Oh my heavens, are we
too funny or what? So really seems to have you, Ben,

(00:55):
I don't know. Maybe we're the only ones that think
we're funny. Both we laughed, so that's all the.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Counts ourselves laugh and that's a good thing, right.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Yeah, yeah, Yeah, it's amazing. We have the same sense
of humor, and a lot of times I have to
yell at dawn to get out of my brain because
we're thinking about the same thing. I mean, she even
guessed what I ate for dinner yesterday and it wasn't
even something common, No, it wasn't.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
It's like what in the world like mental telepathy going
on here. I don't know, although you do enjoy calling
me a dort quite a bit, even though we do
get each other's sense of humor. Yes, Oh my gosh,
I know, and I really I don't know how we
have been able to keep up the mental telepathy, if

(01:45):
you will, and all the other things, because you know,
we've kind of been absent from the spotlight for a bit.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Haven't we. Yeah, we have, it's been a couple of years.
But you know, with speaking every day, I mean, it's
pretty easy to keep up with the mental schelepathy that way.
It's not like we quit talking for two years, and
I think we try to talk more. Sure the show originally,

(02:15):
which we were just talking about, is this season six
for us? I believe it is. Yep.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
We had five very successful seasons and we're I mean,
we're already off to run and start in season six
and I don't know what it's going to hold, but
so far, early indications seem to let us know that
we're not going to be able to breathe a whole lot.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
I don't think. Yeah. Yeah, And you know what, just
for our listeners, that's a good thing because that means
we're going to be able to bring a lot of
content to you.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
So absolutely absolutely, And you know, I was just thinking
the other day when we started kind of talking about
bringing the show back and stuff and how much has
evolved tech technical tech technology wise.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
I'll just say it that way.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
The two years, I mean just in two years time.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
And all the things that we have, all.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
The tools and resources we have now to enhance our
show that we didn't have two years ago. Even so,
it really makes you wonder what's it going to be
like in two years from now. So yeah, but uh,
but Pam and I we've been doing good. We like
she said, we talk every day sometime for hours.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Oh my gosh, like we have spoken in years. We
can see there on the phone for four hours. Oh
my gosh, it's crazy, it's crazy.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
I mean we've even some of our our long you know,
longest phone call records.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Yeah, yeah, now that you mentioned it, we did a
five a five hour what was it last week or something?

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Yeah, and that was when we were yeah, that's when
we were trying to we were just collabing, you know,
we're collaborating a better show and bouncing ideas.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Let me tell you, When Pam and I.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Start collaborating and starting to bounce ideas, one thing leads
to another. And I mean, it's just amazing the creativity
that we dream up and honestly, and let me get
easy goes to Don because so many of my ideas
I had she brought to fruition.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
And for you to know this, you would have to
go to our social media. So if you go to
Christmas Movie Spotlight on Instagram or Facebook, and that's m
u vi i e s And just for our new
listeners in case you don't know, we spelled it m
u v I ees because we're combining new Christmas music

(04:56):
that we're going to you know, we'll give you the
album or whatever this is from different artists, and then
we're also going to give you interviews of actors from
the holiday movies. So we just combined the word and
that's how that came to be. So if you go
to our Instagram or our Facebook, you will see Don's

(05:17):
creations of Granny Christmas and her AI video and my
AI video telling you about the new season coming back.
I mean, she is unbelievably talented. So kudo's done. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
You give me way too much credit and all you
are the I mean, do you think I'm a little
you know, I have a little technology savvy in me.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
I don't know everything.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
There is no there's a lot more to learn, but
you are the one that come up with the creative
ideas and then I just try to figure out how
can I make this work, you know for social media.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
And by the way, we make a good pair, yes, yes, ma'am.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
And by the way, folks, let me also let you
in on a little secret. Pam is the one that
came up with the creative unique spelling of movies in
Christmas movie Spotlight.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Remember that once time were now that you did when.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
We first started trying to think of names for our show,
and you and we started out talking about we were
going to review all the movies and all the new music,
and then you kind of just like light bulb went off.
Light bulb moment. Pam has lots of E and that's
how the name spelling came about, and we were like,
that is so cool.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
We didn't know if anybody would get it.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
But if you know, well, the last I think the
last season or two that we've done the show, we
have kind of steered away from music because we've had
so many guests to review and and bring on that
we just had no time or the podcast would have
been gosh, three hours long, probably, so we had to
make a choice. But this year we're gonna try to

(07:00):
bring a lot of that back, because you're already seeing
signs on social of artists that are going to be
dropping new Christmas music and I'm trying to say movies
for music.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
He it can get confusing quick.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Good, we're gonna be, you know, talking about that. We'll
have it on our website as well, you know, to
show you where you can go and get it if
you want it. So we're excited about a lot of
the new things that we're going to be bringing to
you this season. We're excited about our guests that we're
going to be sharing with you and who are gracious
enough as always to come on and talk a little

(07:37):
bit about their careers and their lives and whatever they
want to talk about.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
You know, it's yeah. And don't let don't let me forget.
I just it just dawned on me. Hello, don, I'll
kind in some no fun. Don just started a TikTok
for our account as well under Christmas Movie Spotlight. So
you don't give us a follow and and any of
these places or all of those places on social media

(08:04):
and keep in touch with us, and you know, see
what we got coming up, because we've got some interviews
coming up that I think we did enjoy.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
And you know, the Christmas movie season has become a
thing of its own. Like I remember what ten years ago,
long before we started the show, and it was exciting
because there was maybe one, possibly two channels that were
doing movies at the time, and I just thought it
was the neatest thing that they were playing movies twenty

(08:36):
four to seven from October to January one, And of
course I would love that. Pam was like, no, December
twenty third is early enough for me to put the
tree up to celebrate that. Look, she's come a long
way in five years.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Six.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Let me just tell you I've worked on her a lie.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Let me tell you.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
She's she's saying by hungle by humbug a lot less
than she did in the US. And it really if
it wasn't for the fact that she loves radio the
way she does, I probably would have had to really
twist her on to do a Christmas show because, let's
just face.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
It, long long story, short end that blog talk radio
where everybody used to listen to our show, well the
majority of people we're not of business, and so at
that time, I thought, well, twelve and a half years.
I think I'm done, I'm going to go ahead and
retire this. And we had already quit doing Christmas movie

(09:32):
Spotlight for two years, so I just didn't think anything
of it. Well thing six months later, seven months later,
whatever it was, I'm like, you know what, done, I
can't handle this. I got to get back on and
we started telling you about it.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
And also one of the I think what inspired us
was to learn that some one of your colleagues mentioned
how much they missed our show.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
I think sometimes we don't realize people do actually listen,
you know, and we we kind of are not one
of these stats driven oriented people, like we're trying to
stay up on who's following us and all these type things. Right,
we're gonna get better, but but we've kind of been
doing some of that in the you know, just in
the off time and going wow, really that yeah?

Speaker 2 (10:24):
So yeah, it's been eye opening.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
And and then you know, when you have someone that
tells you I really miss your show. I enjoy so
much the banter and all the guests, and I mean
it makes you think, wow, you know, so it got Oh.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
When I mentioned it to you, I never thought you'd
say you know what, I think we need to do this.
I never I just mentioned it to you because somebody
mentioned it to me and I thought it was surprising.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
So well, I don't think I've ever I don't think
I ever had a moment of hesitancy. It was like,
it wasn't like I was sitting there waiting for you
to say, let's do it.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
I just I don't know. I mean, well, it's because
I retired, So I mean, you probably just thought I
wouldn't be interested.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
I think I think for me, aside from you know,
someone saying they missed our show, is the fact that
they've already started, you know, putting out promotions for the
movies that are going to be showing during the holiday season.
And I was like, man, I am so getting into
Christmas spirit already, and it's August. This is not funny.

(11:30):
Pam would not think this was funny. But you know,
this is the time of year when we are hard
at it, you know, knows of the Grindstone working, planning, interviewing,
doing all the things to get the show ready to
launch in October when the movie season starts. And so
I mean, we just I don't know. I don't even

(11:51):
think it was a delay. We just once once you
mentioned it, we went with it. The next day we
were planning it. Oh yeah, you know, so here we are.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Yees. Season zero were really a high speed chase to
get this thing going, and it was really worse. It
just it wasn't something like we got to do this
now kind of thing. It was just because we got excited. Yeah,
and we both missed it.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
Yeah we did, and we I mean because we've done
the show for five years prior, we already kind of
had the blueprint.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
We knew what to do.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
It wasn't like we were starting from scratch, so that
that was half the battle. But things also kind of
started falling into place once we decided to resurrect the
show and do season six, and so it was kind
of affirmation for both of us that yes, this is
what you should be doing now, so.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Get at it. Yes, And we got affirmations every day
since then from I did higher power. Uh huh.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Yeah, it's been amazing. It's been amazing for sure. So
so anyway, welcome to season six of Christmas Movie Spotlight.
We are ecstatic to be here, we are excited to
be bringing this to you, and we have a great
year in store. Lots of things coming down the pipe,
probably things we don't even know yet, but as they happen,

(13:18):
we will be sure to bring them to you. And
we're going to be very active on social media, so
you'll want to, like Pam said, be sure to follow
all of us, all of us everywhere, just so you
don't miss a moment of all the announcements and the
things we'll be sharing.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Yeah, and go to Christmas Movie Spotlight to dot com
so Christmasmovie Spotlight dot com to get information as well,
mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
And that that's probably the one place because it's like
your one stop shop. It's got the links to all
the social and everything. So we're in case you haven't
guessed by now, we're very excited to be back and
glad that we decided to do it. So we hope
that you will as glad that we're back to so
And for those of you who have you know, have

(14:02):
been our loyal listeners for five seasons, thank you for
your time and taking the time to listen to our
crazy sales on air and then listening to all the
wonderful guests that we've had over over time. And if
you're brand new This is a brand new show for you.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
We hope it will be your go to.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
During the holiday season and that you will come back
again and again. And and by the way, I don't
think you mentioned this, PAMs, I'm gonna throw it out there.
You On our website, you can go to the tab
that says podcast episodes and you can catch any of
the episodes.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Over on spreaker.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
But we're on all the streaming platforms and we have
them linked. And check out any of our past episodes
with all of the great celebrities that we have had
the privilege of interview. And so check that out in
the meantime, and because and we'll be sharing some of
those blasts from the past interviews too, because they're still
good and they're still relevant and they still hit. I mean,

(15:00):
we've had some great guests, you know. So, Pam, this
is a really dumb rhetorical question. But are you excited?
Are you excited?

Speaker 2 (15:11):
I think we just spoke about that, and yes, I
am excited. I enjoy working with you so much because
it doesn't even feel like working a so qualis job,
even though we don't get paid for it. You know,
we just enjoy each other's company. So and we enjoy interviewing.
We love our guests. I mean, there's just no doubt

(15:35):
about that. We love our guests. We get excited with
every single yes that comes through.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Sure, I mean, and I think most days we are
we live in a state of disbelief, like.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
Did we just book that gift?

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Like, you know, it's so surreal in a way, and
it's what an incredible opportunity. I mean, just to be
able to have the chance to talk to so many
actors that people know and love and watch everything.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
That they do.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
It's just it's amazing to have the opportunity to speak
to them firsthand and get it inside, you know, to
the movies they're in, and also just their careers and
what they've done over the SVAN So so yeah, I
think in case no one has guessed already, we are
extremely excited to be back. And why did we wait

(16:27):
two years?

Speaker 2 (16:27):
By the way, I don't know. But let me add this.
We have just scheduled a guest that we're going to
be airing for her interview. It's going to be on
our Way Back Machine interview. Because when we ended the
show that last year, we had just come up with

(16:48):
the Wayback Machine. And what the Wayback Machine is is
we get a guest that has done Christmas movies in
the past and may not, you know, have something coming up.
But they were you know, exceptional. We enjoyed their Christmas
movies in the past and whatever, so it's kind of
like a catch up thing, you know, to get with them.
So we have a very very very special way Back

(17:13):
Machine guest coming, so stay tuned for that. And our
first and only one was Ed Asner. I mean, come on, well,
and and the other thing.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
When I think of the way Back Machine, I think of,
you know, the guests. Well, we've had Ed Asner and
then we have this upcoming guest, and I think of
their long standing careers.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
And how long they've.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
Been in show business and those I mean talking to
Ed Asdra was just the most amazing thing.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
You know, you only knew what he said before he
before we actually started the interview.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
I'm telling you, folks, there are certain reasons why we
don't do these live, right, my pre record and editing
it comes into play.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
No, I'm totally joking, but Ed was. He was a
riot act. I mean, I think what he was ninety
four at the time when we interviewed.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
And just to have so much youthfulness about him and
so much light and he was a big flirt, and
he was fun and he was chatty, and he was
talking about the old days of showbiz, you know, back
in the forties and fifties era, and it was just
like a walk down memory lane and so nostalgic and

(18:33):
just listen to him talk about his career and the
people he worked with. It was incredible. And by the way,
if you want to check that out, you can go
to our website. It's in the podcast episodes. It's in
a special section where we're highlighting, you know, some certain
interviews that we've had and ed mister Asner. We I
think at times we still are in disbelief that we

(18:55):
were able to interview him before he passed on.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Oh Iah, it does it seems like a dreamed it
or something.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
I know growing up watching him on television and then
got the opportunity to to interview him and to just
listen to all of the stories that he had to
share was amazing, and he was not worried about the
time or anything.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
I mean, it was crazy.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
And so we are equally excited about our upcoming guest,
and we see in promotion on that in the near future,
and we're thrilled to have this guest, and we're going
to strive to have more for the Way Back segment
because you know, like like Pam was saying, when we
came up with this, it was kind of towards the
tail end of a year, and and then you know,

(19:38):
we've been on this hiatus for two years and so
we never really got it off the ground like we
wanted to. But I think this is going to, you know,
reinspire us to do some more of this that I
think the audience is just absolutely going to love.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
So Oh, I think so too. I think.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
So we are now a few we can now officially
say Season six has started.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
Wouldn't you agree? Oh? I agree. I agree. It's it's
off and running now. People. You're not going to say, so,
there's no turn it back.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
We are full speed ahead and watch out because we've
got a lot of things lined up that we think
you'll be very excited to learn as we go along.
So you got to lock into our social and stay
tuned to what we're doing so that you're in the
know and that you can tune in and listen and
be ready to see what we've got going on.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
We're very excited. Did I say that already? Okay, get
we're excited, so I know, I know, well we are.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
We're thrilled to be back, and thank you so much
for being here.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
We are.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
Be sure to watch our social We'll let you know
where the next episode is due to drop. But in
the meantime, Mary and we will see again real same.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
And if you're a ba homburger like me, you know
it'll fade once the Christmas stuff starts. It'll fade. I
know because I speak from experience. So just enjoy it
while you can. And then when when December twenty six
comes around, Like me, you're like, okay, that's done.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
Very true. She was like, don't even talk to me
about Christmas until next year. Okay, fine, it's true. I
can't help long ways. Go back to some of our
original shows on season one and you'll see how far
she's come.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
It's amazing. This is true. This is true. She's not lying.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Really, I've rubbed off on her. She won't admit it,
but I have.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
She brainwashed me. I'm telling you something. Wait, she would
come into had come into my dreams at night without
me knowing and with that's right, it was the metal
telepathy thing. Yes, like Christmas. Okay, now can I know
that we're dorks. Okay, we're dorking out right here on air,

(22:16):
so you know. Yeah, Well, like she said, stay tuned,
follow us, you'll see what's coming up next. We have
a great interview coming and enjoy the season. Yep.
