Speaker 1 (00:20):
Hello, and welcome to the special edition of Christmas Babe Spotlight.
I'm your host Dom Mac and I'm here with my
lovely co host, Pam.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Hey, Pam, how are you look at you?
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Changing it up? What am I going to do now?
I'm not used to that.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Well, I wasn't trying to.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Okay, I'm here with my friend, my colleague and my
co host, my bestie.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
You go, I don't know you're gonna make You're gonna
make people think they're listening to a different show when
you change it up like.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
That, well, you know, and they're probably some of them
if they listen regularly, they're in their head going, okay, she's.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Gonna say that, silly diddy. And here we go and
say anyway, but how are you doing? How's your week? Man?
Speaker 3 (01:09):
I'm doing I'm doing great, Thank you. But I wanted
to say, now, there's one or two things like when
we you know, you always do the same intro right
at the beginning. Yeah, either people are going to roll
their eyes exactly, They're gonna start saying it, you know,
like you do. Like I will watch something on YouTube, okay,
(01:34):
and the person I'm watching always says the same thing
at the end. So it's funny because I'll catch myself
like moulding those same words that he's saying.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
I'm guilty, team, and I would bet if I had
not taken any polls.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Don't send us hate mail, folks, but.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
I'm gonna get the ambassador of our vast majority of
our audience. It's probably rolling their eyes, going, oh my gosh,
there's that girl from North Carolina again saying those things.
But anyway, we try to make it fun, or we
at least try to convey how much we have fun
doing this show.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
So so anyway, so you've had a good week. Things
are going good?
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Yeah, yes, thank you. How about yourself?
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Things are going great. You know, we're kind of in
the throes of the holiday season now, and I mean
what people started talking about started getting all the Christmas
feels what in July August, and I guess we do
in part because that's when we start planning for our show.
But yeah, it's finally here, and so it's I just
(02:46):
have a feeling it's gonna whiz by and it's gonna
be over.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
In a new year before we know it.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
And so I am excited for the season, but I
wish it would slow.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Down a little bit, just a scooche.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Oh, I agree. I agree, And even though a lot
of us get expected and I'm not going to include
myself because you know me by a humbug until a
certain date right.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Right right exactly, it would be you if it didn't,
if you didn't say right right exactly.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
So there are a lot of people and some that
I follow on you know, social media, and they are
huge holiday people. Like there's a girl right now getting
her house together for her Halloween party that she throws
every year. But I saw her in the store and
she's like, come on, where's the Halloween stuff? This is
(03:39):
Christmas stuff. And even the stores are getting into it
like way too, you know. And then there was another
person I saw in the store that I watch on
Instagram too, well, the cat guy that I told you about,
and he's he's like, come on, Casco, give me a break.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Well, you know, I think I think the holidays, you know,
they hold that tradition, on that nostalgia, and I think
that's why people get so excited because our world is
ever changing, as you know, and it's so crazy at times.
But I think it's kind of a personal preference you've
got your fall. People that are not going to decorate
until after Thanksgiving, and they may have Halloween up for
(04:21):
a while, may still have it up whatever, it may
just be putting it up.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
It depends.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
And and then there are those like myself. As soon
as it stuffs being Halloween, even though I'm watching Christmas
movies prior to Halloween, I am all about, let's get
the tree out because it's a lot of decorating.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
I want to enjoy it for as absolutely as long
as I can. But do you know that.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
The day after Christmas, I'm like, Okay, Christmas is over,
It's time to take it all down. And it's never
as much fun taking it down as it is putting
it up, by the way, But but yeah, it really
is kind of weird how we're not weird. But it's
just interesting to see how people embrace the holiday season.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
Right, And those two people I was talking about, they
love the holidays, but they have a statement that the
stores are putting stuff out like way too soon.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Absolutely, they really.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
I mean, look, I've seen some posts on social media
back in August that they were like at their local
store and a big box store, and they would.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Talk about you know, or they would film and say,
look what is out already?
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Right, and you know it's like.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Halloween here, Chris is here? Thanksgiving? Where is Thanksgiving? Old
Tom Turkey?
Speaker 3 (05:34):
You know.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
So yeah, it really is. It's interesting to see how
people perceive it. But I think for most people consider
the holiday season to be like the September September one
when pumpkin spice drops at Starbucks and all these other
places and you know you can get pumpkins spice whatever.
You know, that's kind of when the unofficials start to
(05:57):
the entire holiday season kicks off, and then it just
transitions all.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
The way to the new year.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
So so yeah, it's like to each his own and
there's no wrong way to do it. You know, everybody's
enjoying it in their own way, which kind of really
makes it all the more special.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Exactly exactly. That couldn't agree more. Let me do it
my way, you always do.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
I never have to say, Pam, have you put your
tree up yet? Because I know what the answer is
going to be, and then I would just feel like
a big ditz for asking because.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
I already know the answer. But there is no dizziness.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
In today's show because our guest is one that we
have had on our show before, but it has been
years and when we had him on the show, initially
he was just really starting to rise in the ranks
of rom Com Central and making movies, and we really
(06:54):
got to talk to him then. But from then to now,
he's kind of really evolved into like this leading man
and every time he turn around, he is making movies glore,
and I mean for all the networks. He's not resigning
anyone in particular. And he's just such a phenomenal human being.
I mean, he's as equally nice off camera as he
(07:18):
is on camera, and so it was such an honor
and privilege to be able to interview him yet again
and to kind of catch up and find out, you know,
all the great things that he's.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Doing and what he has to come too.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
And so with all that said, I am talking about
the one and only, immensely talented and so handsome Jonathan Stoddard.
We Pam and I absolutely love him. He's actually become
a friend of ours and we really enjoy seeing him
in any and everything that he makes, and I think
this year he has we interviewed him about one.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Of his movies for the holiday season, but.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
He has filmed several and we're not sure where they're
all going to land, but he has several that he's
completed for this year. So we'll give you that information
as we get it. But oh my gosh, what a
great interview.
Speaker 6 (08:10):
This was, Oh my gosh, woon worthy to great smile,
great personality.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
I mean, just.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
There's Jonathan is like the whole box at Cherry's. You know,
there's not even one missing.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
True And you know what makes him such a just
a such an incredible person is he so down to
earth and it's just so gracious with this time because
he's probably one of the hardest working, busiest actors going
right now. Because when we interviewed him, we actually changed
(08:50):
our time from what we were originally going to do
it because he had to be he had to be
away filming at the time we had recommended, and it
worked out.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
But you know, he is just busy.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
He's on the go and he's gone more than he's
at his home, and so it was just great to
have him spend some time with us and be able
to afford the time to talk with us.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
So that was great, yes, exactly. And so the the
movie that we spoke with him about is up TV's
holiday movie and it's called Saving the Christmas Ranch. So
get your little TV guys out and check out when
that's going to be on because we unfortunately don't have
exact dates yet, but beyond the lookout and if you're
(09:34):
following us on social media, you know we'll have the
dates then when we can get them, and we'll put
them out there.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Yes we will.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
And now we are so excited and honored to bring
you our exclusive interview with Jonathan Stoddard.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Enjoy the show.
Speaker 7 (09:54):
How's it going, everybody? This is Jonathan Stoddard and you're
listening to Pam and Don.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
Hey, hey, Jensen, welcome back. It's been a while.
Speaker 8 (10:03):
Thank you. It's great to be here. Have you been.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
I've been great. Thanks. I mean, although the summer was
kind of yucky with all the air pollution, but yeah,
other than that, it was pretty good. How was yours?
Speaker 7 (10:18):
It's this has been an amazing ride. The journey has
been fantastic. Summer was great. I was filming a new
series up in Toronto, so I didn't really get to
experience a lot of the smaller pollution or things like that.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
But yeah, we're going to talk about that series. Don't
you worry. Since we last foke, you have rocketed And
now John and I are going to go ahead and
sing rocket Man to you by Alton John, because that's
who you are.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Now he will.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Be not really hitting off the call so quickly.
Speaker 8 (11:03):
I want to stick around for this and I do too.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
I will not saying that I was just kidding, no way,
but I want to thay congratulations because you're everywhere television, movies,
I mean, you name it, there's Jonathan's face, and we
are so happy to see you everywhere.
Speaker 8 (11:24):
Thank you so much. Thank you. I'm very grateful and
very blessed.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Now what do you think you attribute to your rise?
Did you do something different or people finally said what
we've been saying. You're talented, you're handsome, you're a hard worker.
I mean, come on, what's there not to like about
this guy?
Speaker 8 (11:46):
First off, you're very kind.
Speaker 7 (11:47):
I appreciate that and happy that was all set on
the record too, So thank you. I will say there,
I don't know really what the difference is why all
of this has happened, and I hope that it continues
to happen. I will say that there are so many talented, beautiful,
(12:12):
amazing people in the world, and.
Speaker 8 (12:17):
It's been my experience so far that.
Speaker 7 (12:20):
Everyone kind of wants that shortcut, that great, I'm talented
and everything, and therefore I should jump, you know, right up.
Speaker 8 (12:27):
To this level.
Speaker 7 (12:28):
And I've never really had that, and I think that's
part of the reason why so many things have happened
the way that they've happened, but also why it's taken
so long for me to evolve the way that I
have for my career, and that's because i have no
ego in this and I'm really grateful to just be working.
Speaker 8 (12:48):
And so I've done movies where I end up losing.
Speaker 7 (12:51):
Money, and I've done movies where I end up gaining money,
and a lot of it is about the relationships and
the craft and being on set and being a part
of an industry that I feel like is really crucial
for our society and community. And I think that's all
kind of built a certain amount of momentum that's led us.
Speaker 8 (13:07):
To where we are now.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Well, I think it's a real testament given the relationship
building aspect, because you keep getting roles and like Pam said,
we're seeing you a lot, and that I think that's
to be attributed to the hard work that you put forth,
and just you know, it's a two way street. The
relationship piece is such an integral part of it. So
(13:30):
and they must everyone must like what you're doing because
you keep getting asked to play roles and that's great.
Speaker 7 (13:38):
I am continually fine tuning so and I'm very grateful.
Speaker 8 (13:41):
God has been good.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
So yes he has.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Well, I've got to ask you about being a musician,
because I know that at some point you have been,
and then you've transitioned into acting. But do you feel
your musical background influences the way you approach a character
or a scene or.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
Or this way? You know, do you feel your musical background.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Influences the way you approach acting?
Speaker 2 (14:04):
I guess it's a better way to say that.
Speaker 7 (14:06):
Yeah, when I'm working on a character, I'll go into Spotify.
I'll create playlists for that character or what I feel
like the the optimum playlist for what the movie might be. So,
if it's Christmas, it's going to be a certain kind
of Christmas music. If it's more intense thriller, it might
have these other kind of vibes, And.
Speaker 8 (14:28):
Obviously the playlist would be very different.
Speaker 7 (14:30):
So I try to do something that's related to the
movie itself and its entirety, and then also for my
character and my role in the project.
Speaker 8 (14:39):
So I love it. Music.
Speaker 7 (14:41):
Weaving music in and out is one thing for character
development for various projects that I've done, and even the
series that we're working on now, I actually get to
be a character that plays music, and so that's that's.
Speaker 8 (14:55):
A whole other level of enjoyment for me personally.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Right, and that excuse me. That role is on Crossroad
Springs as James Hamilton. He's still charming like all the
rest of the characters you play, except maybe one or
two of them on Lifetime are not so much. But
(15:28):
you also play a pastor in Chicago. I wish that
I had known at the time that you were there.
I would have gone to see you. If I could have,
I would have loved to have seen you. But you know,
next time. First, congratulations, we absolutely love the series. We
(15:48):
cannot wait. We anticipate every week for you know, the
new season, I mean not theme this season, but the
new episode to come out. So you're welcome. Did they
how you how to play this character or did you
come to that yourself? Would it be in such a
different character, you know, as a pastor.
Speaker 7 (16:09):
No, there was actually there was a lot of freedom.
So they didn't come to me with anything specific. They
kind of gave me the call and just said, hey, John,
make it your own. I've worked with a lot of
these people before, and they said, we trust you, take it,
play with it, you know if we end up getting
any notes. And I kept checking in, So I kept
checking in with the network, I kept checking in with
(16:30):
the production company.
Speaker 8 (16:31):
Just being like, Hey, are we in the right direction, Because.
Speaker 7 (16:35):
Because even though I've been a part of series and things,
I have never been the lead of a series before,
and so this was a beautifully intimidating opportunity. It required
a lot of surrender and dedication and commitment for me
to do it. And just because it was so new
(16:56):
and I had nerves and all the stuff going on,
I was also incredibly excited about the opportunity. So I
just kept checking in and everyone said, keep playing in
that world, keep playing in that world. And also that's
part of having a great team, trusting your director and
Marco who directed all six episodes, and I believe he's
(17:17):
gonna continue directing the rest of season one because we
have four more left to shoot, but it's you know,
it's just trusting your team and going for it.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
Well, you know, the one thing I've noticed in Pam,
and I haven't even talked about this, but is that
when you're on screen, there's so much natural you know,
it just seems so natural. I know you're playing a role,
but when you can come across that way, it feels
like such a connection to the viewers who I think
it makes it so much more relatable. And so that's
(17:51):
one of the I think the things that we truly
enjoy about you know, what you do and the work
that you do. And the other thing that we love is,
as she mentioned, you play guitar and singing, and in
episode two you got to do that with Kate Drummond
(18:12):
and Kudos.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
That was awesome, beautiful.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Beautiful song and you guys were great together, and we
are curious are we going to be seeing more of this?
Speaker 7 (18:22):
So we did actually film We filmed a lot more
guitar playing for episodes one and two, and I think
just due to run time, they had to make decisions
and cut certain things, and so that was some stuff
that was cut, along with some other really interesting things
that I think they're going to work back into future episodes,
but I do I do know that within the next
(18:44):
four there are some more musical elements, so we'll see
if those make it. And then outside of that, we're
going back to shoot four more episodes to round out
season one to ten episodes in total, and they've given
us a heads up that we're going to be playing
and singing and doing.
Speaker 8 (19:01):
A handful of things for some of those episodes too.
So I hope that.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
I love that. I love that. I love that. I
heard that song that Jillian and you rogues, Yeah, I mean,
I so that's how is that going to come on
to Cross Road Springs where that's out there?
Speaker 7 (19:20):
Our fingers crossed are that they integrated into the show
as the theme song, which is kind of what we
wrote it in mind. I mean, the chorus being coming
down Across Road Springs and things like that.
Speaker 8 (19:32):
So we'll see. We'll see. Obviously, the first episode released.
Speaker 7 (19:35):
Before we wrote it, and they have a lot of
things in place and whatnot.
Speaker 9 (19:40):
But still, you know, yeah, yeah, it would be really
cool if they if they did that, and then you know,
to have that be the theme song of the show
for you know, God willing have many seasons we have.
Speaker 8 (19:54):
That'd be such a cool experience.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Well, it's awesome. I mean, like I wrote on the host,
it's a very catchy tune. So I would love to
see that the theme song at least thank you.
Speaker 7 (20:06):
It's so much fun doing it, and it happened all
it happened real fast, real fast.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
John and I have been manifesting things this past week
or so, So we'll manifest that song.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Yes, all right, we sure will. We'll start working on that.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Yes. Now, you have such a huge base of fans,
and that of course includes myself and John and we
always when we're looking at and watching movies, we see
if there's chemistry or not with you know, like the
Leeds co star love interest. Let's say, and this includes
(20:47):
you and Britt Underwood. You guys have a natural chemistry.
But is it natural or do you get to know
your co stars before filming start it starts?
Speaker 7 (21:00):
I mean, ideally i'd like to say that, you know,
it's great if.
Speaker 8 (21:04):
You can get to know them beforehand.
Speaker 7 (21:06):
I'm not always given that opportunity, and going into a project,
especially a mom com or Christmas movie or something like that,
sometimes it's showing up and then the.
Speaker 8 (21:16):
Very first day or two days, we're.
Speaker 7 (21:18):
Filming the end of the movie, which is the I
Love you and let's get married and that kind of thing,
and you're like, oh, hi.
Speaker 8 (21:25):
My name's Jonathan.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
How are you Yeah, okay, cool?
Speaker 8 (21:28):
Are you ready for this? Yeah, let's go.
Speaker 7 (21:30):
So sometimes it's it's kind of interesting. And I've also
been told that directors will do that on purpose sometimes
because the natural nervousness can be felt on camera and
that helps heighten the moment of when you tell somebody
you love them and stuff like that, and so it's
less acting and more well, this is uncomfortable, and so
(21:52):
we're going to go for it, and then it translates
pretty beautifully. Now, I will say with Brittany, it's a
different scenario because she's directed me in two movies and
we filmed I think four or five movies, and so
we have we've we've worked together so many times. She's
(22:14):
one of my best friends. We have so many similar
friends in the industry and everything, even with her boyfriend,
and like we've we always keep in touch. We always
check in with each other. We try to help each
other out. We'll call each other with gigs opportunities things
like that. So to have that kind of relationship with
(22:35):
other people in the industry like Brittany and then to
be able to do a series, I mean, we go
in and we already have a mutual love and respect
and admiration for each other, and I'm happy to hear
that that comes across on screen because she's absolutely wonderful.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Yeah, I mean, you guys together is just you know,
there are certain couples in movies and when you see
them tom and again in Get movies, they just become
your faves. And you and Brittany definitely have raised the
bar on that. I mean, it's just so natural the
way it comes across, and you can tell that friendship
is there, you know, offscreen as well, so it really
(23:12):
comes into play and that's a beautiful thing. Now, speaking
about movies, I have to ask you about your new
holiday movie, Saving the Christmas Ranch. So can you tell
us a little bit about this movie without giving too
much away?
Speaker 8 (23:28):
So it's kind of fun.
Speaker 7 (23:30):
I will say we shot it in Connecticut, and I
play a character named John Dunn, and I am a
real estate developer and I want this ranch, which has
been in her family forever and my co stars Brianna Cohen,
and so she's working on since the ranch has been
given to her and she inherited it, she's trying to
(23:53):
save the ranch and I'm coming in. I keep trying
to give her offers and I want to develop it
into this big thing, but she doesn't want to lose
the charm and the community aspect of feeling all that
kind of stuff. And so that's the conflict, and that's
originally how we end up meeting, and then there are
some other things that happened, and then it's a Christmas movie.
(24:15):
So but I will say it's really fun that that movie.
I mean, we shot that one actually pretty quickly, and
we had so many we had oh wow, girls, I
gotta tell you, Okay, we had so many scenes that
(24:36):
were supposed to be outside, that were written for outside,
with like big groups of people all this stuff. And
then on the day it was like ice storms or
all the snow had melted. And this is Yeah, the
whole point of shooting in Connecticut was because of the
snow during this period of time, and so we were
(24:58):
trying to cut down on all this production costs and
so we'd wake up in the morning and then.
Speaker 8 (25:02):
We'd go out there and there was nothing.
Speaker 7 (25:04):
Everything had melted overnight, and we're like, oh, wow, yeah, okay,
this will be fun, this will be super interesting. And
then the winds picked up, and then all of our
all of our townspeople, all the background and stuff like that,
a lot of them didn't show.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Up, oh, because they were like, we have kids, We're
not standing out in the cold.
Speaker 7 (25:26):
Like we can't blame them, of course, but there were
so many really interesting on the fly like hurdles and
things that we had to figure out, and so we
had a lot of fun with that.
Speaker 8 (25:38):
And Brianna, of course, I've done several movies with her.
Speaker 7 (25:40):
She's phenomenal, so it was great to problem solve with
her and the team.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
I mean you just never know because we hear about
a lot of different Christmas movies being shot in the summertime. Yeah,
and here you are actually doing it on the winter
to say, like sud for production costs, it's not collaborating
with you, right.
Speaker 8 (26:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (26:07):
The ideal concept, right is like, oh, shoot a Christmas
movie during Christmas, right or during the winter. And then
it's like okay, well, now you get bizarre windstorms, you
get ice storms, what if it hails like you have
a whole other set of problems.
Speaker 8 (26:22):
So it's it's tricky no matter.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
In a place where you would expect snow to just
be on the ground until like March, you know, not
to have all the bizarro kind of winter weather. You know,
that kind of is there and gone.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
So oh my goodness.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Well, we just never know these days with the weather,
when when we think it's gonna happen, doesn't happen usually
so true.
Speaker 8 (26:45):
Yeah, we just go with the flow.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Well, speaking of Christmas movies, what is your favorite holiday
tradition in your own life, like something you cannot even
skip one Christmas with.
Speaker 7 (27:00):
So I know this may sound overly simple, but it's
seeing my family.
Speaker 8 (27:10):
And I'm the youngest of four.
Speaker 7 (27:12):
I travel around a lot, and at this point, the
rest of my siblings they are married, they have kids,
There are different parts of the world, and Christmas is
the one time in which everybody they all fly out
their kids, they all fly.
Speaker 8 (27:27):
Out their family members, and we all get together.
Speaker 7 (27:29):
And that is it's such a fundamental concept that I
have learned to value and appreciate immensely. There are, of course,
like fun traditions. We all cook together we all do
this beautiful contribution.
Speaker 8 (27:46):
Of food and buffet, and.
Speaker 7 (27:49):
We'll get together and we'll do like the oranges with
clothes in them, and we'll decorate trees and of course
things like that. But I have to tell you what's
been warming my heart recently is justing that I get
to see my family because group chats don't They're not
enough for me.
Speaker 8 (28:08):
I miss not the same. It's not the same.
Speaker 7 (28:10):
I mean, I'm grateful for technology, and I'm grateful we
have all the all of these things, but my goodness,
my parents are getting older. And when I think, okay,
what if I only have fifteen Christmases left?
Speaker 8 (28:21):
But if I only have ten Christmases left? Right, and
it puts.
Speaker 7 (28:26):
Me in a it makes me connect with the holiday
a little differently, where it's like, it doesn't matter what
we do, I just want to see I just want
to see my family. And that fills me up with
so much joy and love.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
And you know, when you think about it, that's really
the heart of the holiday anyway, is spending time with
those you love. And you know, every Christmas movie kind
of promotes that, and so in real life it is
it is a very meaningful concept. I mean, it's what
we're all aspired to do, and we want to spend
time because you know, through the year, everybody's doing their
own thing and it's hard to come together at times.
(29:00):
I have three children, so trying to get three adult
children to come is usually holidays. And they live in state,
they live not even far from me, but they're busy,
live in their own lives, you know, and working, and
they have their own responsibilities. And so it's a special
time when you can have everybody home, you.
Speaker 8 (29:18):
Know, it really is.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
And as we have spoken about you, you know, you
are a familiar face. And holiday movies, of course, And
why do you think that holiday films resonates so much
with people year after year.
Speaker 7 (29:36):
I think holiday films serve as a reminder, a reminder
of the possibility for goodness, what we could be, what
we can be, how powerful it is to be together,
the reminder, even if it's just a goal.
Speaker 8 (29:53):
So because there are those bitter people during Christmas, it happens, Yes,
so they're out there. We got we got all of them.
We got them.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
Oh well wait, I'm the Bahambug of this group. But
it doesn't last the whole season. It's just up until Christmas.
Then I'm okay again.
Speaker 7 (30:09):
Exactly, exactly, Yeah, And I think that's the value of
holiday movies is it's just that reminder and it is
it becomes i think, a fantastic excuse as well, for
families to get together or to make that call that
maybe you were nervous to make earlier in the year,
(30:30):
or to say you're sorry, or to make amends, or
to say I love you, or to say just Merry
Christmas and have that be one of the most beautifully
loaded sentences you could.
Speaker 8 (30:41):
Say to somebody.
Speaker 7 (30:43):
And there's just something really special special about that time
of year. And then about holiday films reminding people that
it can work out if you want it to, and
that there is goodness in the world.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
Absolutely, I agree with everything you said. I also want
to add it's an escape from the world real world
too for us, you know, because we always know there's
going to be a happy ending.
Speaker 8 (31:07):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
So that's I know. That's another reason John and I
have spoken about that we like to watch them. There's
pretty much, you know, maybe five plots for sure, but
it's okay, it's written right, yeah, different characters, different places.
(31:30):
But we still watch them. We still love them.
Speaker 8 (31:35):
I mean for a.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
Lot of people. You run in us about your childhood too.
Speaker 7 (31:39):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, Well I was going to say there
were only eight keys. Well, there are only technically seven
keys in terms of musical notes. I mean you have
different nothings, but you only have seven keys. You only
have twenty six letters.
Speaker 8 (31:54):
In the alphabet.
Speaker 7 (31:55):
You only need five plots for a Christmas movie. You
can make all of this beautiful magic.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
So true, and it happens. I mean it works right, Yeah,
every year. It's now a tradition for many people with
you know, to get really excited about the coming holiday
movie season.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
So it's just part of it.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
So yeah, exactly. Well, looking back on your career so far,
because you have a big one ahead of you, which
project or role would you think pushed you the most
out of your comfort zone and taught you something new
about yourself As a Christmas movie anything, any role, any character,
(32:41):
actually I will see.
Speaker 8 (32:43):
Yeah, I do think it was a Christmas movie.
Speaker 7 (32:46):
I frequently revisit this one in my heart and mind
a lot, and it's a Prince and Popper Christmas.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
Oh good movie, and thank you.
Speaker 7 (33:00):
I think that one really stretched me the most because
of playing two characters and addressing scenes very differently because
when I was going in, instead of dancing with a
scene partner or trying to figure out the blocking, I
was blocking it for myself then teaching another actor to
do it so that they could wear my clothes and
(33:20):
do it and we could shoot over the shoulders and
things like that.
Speaker 8 (33:24):
And I had to.
Speaker 7 (33:27):
Pre plan in such a way that I've never had
to do before because I do like discovering what the
set is gonna be. I love showing up and going
like the director will come up and go okay, So
see this line where it says it's a beautiful sunny
day and we're gonna shoot outside, but it's actually raining,
so we can't do that. We're gonna shift the whole
(33:47):
thing into the barn. And I'm like, well, half of
our action is interacting with like me pulling out in
a car doing all this like X y Z, so
I can't do that in a barn.
Speaker 8 (33:56):
He's like, Yep, You're gonna figure it out, John, I
believe in you. I'm like, oh, hey, let's rock and roll.
So with a Prince and Popper Christmas, I had to
go in.
Speaker 7 (34:08):
I had to go in prepared and then find and
create with myself and in the space. It was just
it was just it really really pushed me and stretched
me as an actor. I still think back about that
that movie very very fondly.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
So I think one of the best you've done.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
I don't know if it was because of the dual
rubble or and they've all been good, but I don't know.
I think I think Crossroads Springs is now gonna supersede
that just because of all the elements and the storyline
and just the unfolding story week to week. So but yeah,
that is a that's up there at the top that
(34:47):
Christmas movie.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
It is so it was so well done, and you
did an amazing job for sure.
Speaker 8 (34:52):
Thank you. It's a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
Well, we've got one more question for you, and this
is I think the best for lack because it's a
fun question.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
It we call it a lightning round. It's where we
ask you five questions.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
They're super easy, no wrong answers, and it's just to
pick your brain.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
Is all Christmas related.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
So the first one is do you prefer a fake tree.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Or a real tree?
Speaker 8 (35:17):
Real tree?
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Good answer, that's great.
Speaker 8 (35:25):
If we get into a logical debate, about it.
Speaker 7 (35:27):
I do end up having a fake tree, but I
would prefer a real tree.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Yeah, something about I mean years ago, I used to
go and with my family and it was kind of
a tradition for a number of years where you'd go
to a tree farm and cut a tree down, and
it was in the mountains of North Carolina, and you know,
there was just something about going through the whole motions
of that and bringing it home and trimming it. It
was just just like something you see in a movie,
you know, Christmas maybe.
Speaker 7 (35:54):
Almost well, and it's so special, like right before like
fake Christmas trees.
Speaker 8 (35:58):
That's what you have to do.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
That's right, and that's right.
Speaker 8 (36:02):
And you would like, oh the smell. I just I
mean that smell. There's nothing like having a real tree
in the house. Yeah, tree, if I don't have to
clean it up and do all that stuff. Real tree,
that's right, all right.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Do you prefer matching ornaments or do you prefer to
mix and match them?
Speaker 8 (36:24):
Is this like if I was married?
Speaker 2 (36:29):
No?
Speaker 7 (36:31):
Yeah, oh, just in general decorating the tree, I kind
of like an eclectic assortment on the tree.
Speaker 8 (36:38):
M I like everybody bringing in their.
Speaker 7 (36:41):
Own flair, and especially as with my siblings bring So
here's something super cool. My oldest sister she married a
gentleman from India.
Speaker 8 (36:51):
My brother married.
Speaker 7 (36:52):
A Staten Island Greek, like orthodox Greek. Oh she's she's
so cool, like my big fact Greek wedding. That was
their wedding.
Speaker 8 (37:02):
Oh my god, it was amazing.
Speaker 7 (37:04):
And then my other sister married an artist Frenchman. And
so when the three of them, they each have their
own kind of unique twist on ornaments and how to
decorate the tree and all that, and so at my
parents' place, when everyone contributes to the tree, it's this beautiful,
colectic mosaic.
Speaker 8 (37:23):
I like to call my family the un I mean,
we are.
Speaker 7 (37:27):
This beautiful question of yeah, religions and people and cultures
and all kinds of stuff.
Speaker 8 (37:33):
So I like that mosaic seeing the history on the tree.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
Mm hmmmm hmm, that's beautiful.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
Do you prefer snow for Christmas or do you prefer
beach weather?
Speaker 8 (37:47):
Wait? Sorry, I said again.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
So at Christmas town, do you prefer snow or do
you prefer it to be nice and sunny like at
the beach during Christmas?
Speaker 8 (37:59):
I feel like snow is the only answer.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
That would be my answer to then you live in Chicago.
Speaker 8 (38:11):
Oh oh well, yeah, okay.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
I think Pam Craft did that question because she is.
There's a little ba humbug in that.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
By the way, I could just feel it. I sense it.
Speaker 7 (38:22):
Yeah, but I gotta say, I mean Chicago winners. You
don't mess with those.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
That's true.
Speaker 8 (38:27):
Yeah, that's true. Those pushed back, those are rough, that's true.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
And our winners here in North Carolina can be very
hit and miss. So you know, it could be seventy
five degrees on Christmas days, like, well, we're getting the sun,
you know, all right, So do you prefer christs in
July through December or only in December?
Speaker 8 (38:47):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (38:49):
I do like Christmas being a special time of year
in December. I'm not mad at it being all year round,
but I I do think I like Christmas being Christmas.
I think I have to think about that. I don't know,
And maybe that's just an old school concept because especially
(39:11):
as kids, summer was summer and there was something so
special about like the individual I don't know, summer meant this,
and then you know the different holidays and sorry, Thanksgiving
and Halloween, like there was a perquestion that you could
work up towards and even though I don't know, even though, yeah,
(39:32):
I don't know, I'm starting to ramble because now I'm second,
but but.
Speaker 8 (39:37):
I do think, Yeah, I'm gonna stick with it. I'm
gonna double.
Speaker 7 (39:40):
Down for now until I journal about this, but I'm
going to double down to say Christmas during Christmas time.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
Well, like we said, no wrong answer, so that's awesome,
all right. And the last one is one thing you
have to find in your.
Speaker 7 (39:54):
Stocking marzipan, different marzipan my mom, so we had my
mom had some friends from Germany and they used to
fly out every single year and they would give us
little gifts and things like that, and they would bring
back a very specific kind of Marzapan and in our
(40:16):
stockings every single year. I wouldn't eat marzapan any other
time of the year, but I I just always knew
that I could get this little three by three box
of marsupan like little pigs or like painted beautiful Marzapan
art that as a kid I didn't appreciate, right, I
just shoved in my mouth.
Speaker 8 (40:34):
Yeah, but there was something there.
Speaker 7 (40:37):
I have a soft spot for marzipan because I've grown
up with it. During Christmas time every single year and
it's always in my stocking.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
Ah.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
Well, that's great that they followed through with that tradition. Yeah,
makes you feel like a kid again.
Speaker 8 (40:51):
Right, yeah, it does, it does.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
Well.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Jonathan. We love you today. We want to know everything
that you're doing. And I know you're extremely busy, but
you know when you can get a minute or so

(41:18):
But we we'd love to have you back. I think
you're going to be a regular with us.
Speaker 7 (41:22):
I would love to and it's always it's always so
good to talk to you girls, So yes, please, I
would love to. Okay, we have a lot of cool
stuff coming out over the next like six months, so
we definitely need to do a follow up.
Speaker 3 (41:35):
