Speaker 1 (00:20):
Hello and welcome to the special edition of Christmas Movie Spotlight.
I'm your host Don Mac and I'm here with my
friend and Collie and co host Pam. Hi, Pam, how
are you?
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Hi? Don? I'm okay, how are you.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
I'm doing okay, just enjoying this wonderful, dreary fall weather
that we're having. It's so seasonal.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Well, you mean you don't have fifty two feet of snow.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
No, no, we don't get that. But they are saying,
they are saying that for Halloween that the North Carolina
Mountains could see some snow, which oh really, yeah, I
mean now, in the winter months, the mountains typically have
not had snow. They have to make snow for the
ski slopes and stuff up there, so this is quite interesting.
(01:10):
We're having a real fall. I'm very excited. I've mentioned
this before, but it's still it's the mainstay. Is it's
sustaining itself.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
So we're loving it.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
You know, it didn't end after a day, so yeah,
so there you go. Yeah, I'm loving this weather. I'm
loving the seasons are changing, the trees are in full color,
and it's just wonderful. I just love this time of
year for so many reasons, so many reasons.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Yeah, And I don't mind it, and I don't mind spring.
It's just when it gets you know, wishy washy Chicago,
just like North Carolina. We can have four seasons in
one day, you know. So that's so true. That's the
only thing that makes me crazy because you just don't
know how to dress, to walk outside, and even in
the morning, it could be snow and then it could
(02:00):
be seventy and you're like, what, tree Tree.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
I'm loving the fact that we're not having to worry
about four seasons in one day right now. So I'm
enjoying the fact that it's been forties at night, and
like today it didn't even hardly get up to fifty five.
It's been rainy, dreary all day and just so fall,
you know. So I'm loving it. Well. I am also
(02:23):
loving who our guest is for today. For this episode,
we had the honor God Pam and I aren't so
excited about this. We had the honor to bring you
a special interview with the beautiful and immensely talented Jennifer Taylor.
Oh my gosh, what a great interview that was.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
I'm telling you now, as we said before, we love
every single guest that we have on and Jennifer did
not let us down, which I knew she wouldn't, you know.
I was more worried about my.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah, it was a very surreal moment, Like you know,
I think once it wrapped, I'm like, did we really
just interview her?
Speaker 2 (03:10):
You know?
Speaker 1 (03:11):
But yeah, she was a delight to speak with for sure.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Yes, definitely. And Jennifer Taylor will be starting in a
holiday movie called Christmas at Fields Ranch, which you may
have heard about because I've been seeing a lot foot
out there about it and it looks really good. It'll
be streaming on November first, or starting I should say,
on November first, on Roku and Visio and the always
(03:37):
Christmas Fast Channel and you know, different areas like that.
So take a look for it because you don't want
to miss it.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Yeah, it's it's going to be streaming all over the place,
So if if you can find it, please watch it,
because I really think this is going to be a
great movie for the holiday season, one of those little
Gem's best kept secrets you know that people will be
talking about for years to come. So we are so
excited and honored to bring you our interview with Jennifer Taylor.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Enjoy the show.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Hi, this is Jennifer Taylor and you're listening to Pam
and Dawn.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Hello Jennifer, and welcome into Christmas Movie Spotlight.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Thank you, it's great to be here.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Thank you for joining us. We know how incredibly busy
you are and we appreciate you taking the time. So
one of the first questions I have for you is
how did you first get into acting and what drew
you to the entertainment industry.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Probably by accident and in a backwards way. I was
born in New Jersey, and you know, my dad was
a grocery store manager, so I had no connections to
the business at all. And I saw Annie on Broadway
in elementary school and I was like, Oh, I want
to do that, And then yeah, I might as well
(04:59):
just walk the moon because there was no path. But
I did plays just in elementary school and then and
then when I was like fifteen or sixteen, I started modeling.
And when I got my first speaking commercial, I was like, oh, no,
I like talking. So I just grew up in Miami
modeling and then started doing commercials and then I got
(05:21):
my first movie, Wild Things, while I still lived in Florida,
and yeah, that was kind of what kicked it all off.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Well, I think that's exciting, and you know it was
a happy accident. I guess you could say since that
was kind of the way it happened for you. And
what was your breakout moment when you realized, Okay, I'm
really doing this.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
I guess I don't know that I have actually had that.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
Its it kind of just as you go along the way,
because as an actor, you work on something and then
immediately when it's done, you're like, oh, I might not
ever work again, and then as work keeps coming, you're like, okay,
well it still might not come again, but you appreciate
every single job that comes by.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
I don't know. I guess maybe now I'm finally there
like okay, this is what I do.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
And it took you long enough because we knew about
it when we start you acting for how many years? Now?
I'm glad it sunk in with you. But if you
could go back in time and give your younger self
one piece of advice before starting, what would it be.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Relax? I spent a lot of time early in my
career just worrying, and you know, worrying if somebody liked
my performance, or if I was going to get the job,
and I would just say, just relax, just trust your
instincts and it's all going to work out.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Yeah, you know, I think it's the hardest thing sometimes
for us is trusting our gut when our gut is
I don't know that it's ever wrong, but it is
hard to trust that. But when you can let go
and do that, it's it's really a remarkable thing because
it does take a lot of the weight off, you know,
it does. Well, You've been open about your passion for health, fitness,
(07:24):
and gardening, and how do those interests shape your mindset
and your creativity?
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Uh hm, well, I mean I I'm I it changed
because before health and fitness and eating good food. Before
was yes, I want to stay healthy, healthy, but I
want to I want to look good. And now as
I'm getting older, it's okay if I want to be
(07:52):
strong and healthy. Uh, for my future, like decades down
the road, I need to. I need to be strong
and healthy now. And the gardening, like, I don't like
anything on my food I want. I don't want pesticides,
I don't want anything. And so my husband thankfully has
the green thumb. So I make him grow us all
(08:15):
our stuff and I help a little.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Well, it's a good thing that somebody has the green thumb,
because in my family we all have brown thumbs. That's
on there to it.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Yeah, that's what he says to me. But I take
care of the chickens. The chickens are my domain.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Oh you have chickens too, Yeah, you live on a farm.
I mean, do you have cows and everything or just chickens?
Speaker 3 (08:37):
No? I mean I still live in La County, but
I have enough room where I have seven chickens. Oh,
it's lovely. Oh.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
I've seen people raising chickens, and some that are starting
out and they don't know what they're getting into. It's
a lot of work, but it's a lot of fun too,
especially to at your own food.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Yeah, to be able to get eggs every morning, it's
it's wonderful.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Absolutely. Well, what's something about the film industry versus television
that people would be surprised to learn?
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Ah, well, it's so funny you say that, because it's
it's it's kind of merged in now that everything is streaming.
Things are not as cut and dry before. Whereas before
you used to have movies and movie stars and the
big movies, and they would never do TV. And now
(09:36):
there is, uh, there are no barriers there anymore. So uh,
you know it just it it. It's not a matter
of I think the difference between TV and movies anymore.
I think it's your budgets. You're going to get certain
things on uh. You know, something that is from a
big studio budget, whether it's a film or a TV
(09:57):
series or if it's an independent uh TV series or film.
You they're at their essence, they're the same, but you
just get different things that go with it.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Yeah, I can imagine, you know, streaming has changed so
much of the way people view content now, and it
does seem like there's there's no defined line anymore. And
and it's you're correct. I mean you're seeing people doing
TV content that didn't do it back in the day,
you know. So it's interesting how that's evolved. You're a
(10:34):
mom and an actress to full time roles without a doubt.
How has motherhood influenced the way you approach your characters?
Speaker 3 (10:43):
Oh? I well, I think motherhood has has uh has
influenced everything in my life. It as far as my characters,
I think also not just being a mother, but because
I am, you know, I'm just moving into a different
categor category as far as age. So I'm doing more
motherly roles, which are wonderful because I got that. I
(11:07):
got that, but being when I became a mother, it
just it. It definitely made me relax because now my audience,
not that the kids are the audience. My focus became
on them and not on myself. And I actually started
(11:28):
enjoying work more. Even auditions, which I didn't particularly care
for before, I started enjoying them more after I had kids,
because again I wasn't trying to impress the people that
I was auditioning for. I'm like, this is this is
what my skill set, this is how I see it.
(11:49):
I hope you like it, but if not, I have
things to do over here.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Yeah, right, absolutely. Well, you've transitioned from medic rolls to
more dramatic and faith based films. What inspired that shift?
Speaker 3 (12:05):
H Well, I mean I still love both, but I
guess I like, I want the roles that I play,
I want them to make a difference. There's a lot
of content out there that I wouldn't want my kids
watching that I don't want to watch. Fortunately, there's a
lot of great content out there, and I want to
(12:27):
be a part of that. And I'm not sure about
my faith. So if I get to do what I
love for work and share my faith at the same time,
oh my gosh, that's that's a great bonus.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
Oh absolutely. And speaking of great positive content, Pam and
I are very excited about your new holiday film that's
coming out, Seeing Christmas at Fields Ranch, and we we
can't wait to see it. I think we've seen the
preview trailer and it looks like it's going to be
so good. But what can you tell us about that
(13:04):
without getting away?
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Well, I'm so excited about that because I did that.
That was the second time I was in Rhode Island
to film a movie. And Rhode Island is wonderful and
the people there are great, Like everybody was just I
don't know, just real. The producers who did Christmas It
(13:28):
Feels Ranch, Chad Verdi and Paul Luba were amazing and
all of their casts, so the cast and their crew,
Like you think Rhode Island do they have a really
big film industry. I don't know, but they know what
they're doing there and this film was so fun to make.
(13:48):
There were horses, we were on a ranch. It was
it was Christmas. So I had a really really great
time on this and it's funny it comes out November first.
It's going to be released November first on to be
in Visio, and then there's a whole bunch of other
other platforms that it's going to be on.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Yeah, I think, let's see, I was trying to remember
off the top of my head. I think it was Roku.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
And I think in zoomo zoom o, yes, and.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
Always Christmas Fast Channel, which I've never heard of, but
I need to look into that.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
Yeah, I guess it's Amazon's Always Christmas Channel. And then
in July of twenty twenty six Amazon Prime It'll be
on Christmas in July.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Oh wow, Okay, good tonight. Well yeah, definitely, thank you
for that. And Rhode Island's not a very big state,
so I would imagine that the whole place is like
one big community.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
I know. It's it's so funny like when when I
first got the first movie there, Rhode Island like Rhode Islo,
what do you like? What are you talking about? And ends?
And I got there and I was just amazed. Our
director Glenn was fabulous, Like, but I guess this is
(15:13):
kind of happens. The business is kind of spread everywhere,
and so as our technology gets more accessible to everyone,
and you know, people are moving away from Los Angeles
and and it's it seems to be a very family
oriented state. At least the people that I came across with,
(15:35):
they're very family oriented. So if you got to make
movies and stay in your own state, Oh man, if
I was able to do that when before I moved
to California from Florida, I would probably still be in Florida.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Right. Well, it sounds like an amazing time was had
by all ann. We are definitely going to watch it now.
If there was a TV show, show or a movie
written about you, what would it be called and what
genre would it be?
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Oh wow, you're gonna have to give me a second
to think about that. Oh yeah, wow, you are stumping
me because it would be all here the place.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
For you it is.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
I yeah, I have a like. I know one time
I got asked if I was an instrument what would
I be And I was like, oh, cello. I would
be a cello hands down. Uh. But but this there
are so many possibilities. It would probably be a TV
(16:50):
series because it would have to just go on and on.
And I would say a drama y because there's got
to be some comedy, but there's gonna be there's gonna
be some heartfelt not silly drama. And what would it
be called. Oh gosh, it's all over the place. Let's go,
(17:11):
She's all over the place.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
There you go? Andromad was my thought. So yeah, that was.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
You know, and uh, we're sitting here laughing about this, Jennifer,
but I'm sitting here thinking, you know, this could be
a very real, possible.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
Oh, it'd have to be a really slow day in
Hollywood for that.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Well that's great.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
I mean, we stumped you, but you came out great
on the other side of that for sure. Now, before
we wrap up, we always like to play a fun
little lightning round game that's all Christmas related, because of
course this is a Christmas podcast and it's just five
quick questions. You just give us the first answer that
comes to mind. We won't stump you, I promise, And
(18:00):
so the first one is what is your favorite Christmas tradition?
Speaker 3 (18:05):
My favorite Christmas tradition is you know, decorating, putting up
the Christmas tree, and then Christmas morning we're just all
in our pajamas as we open presents, and then literally
just stay in the pajamas all day long.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
That's the best. What's your favorite Christmas song?
Speaker 3 (18:26):
My favorite? Oh? Oh, I don't know if I can.
What's the one? I'm singing it in my head right now,
but you don't want to hear me singing it. Fall
on your knees to Holy Night, Yes, Holy Night?
Speaker 2 (18:46):
All right?
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Your favorite Christmas movie?
Speaker 3 (18:48):
Elf?
Speaker 1 (18:50):
And Hot Toddy or hot chocolate, Hot chocolate? And white
lights or colored lights?
Speaker 3 (18:58):
White lights, but my family likes colored lights.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
So.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
You know, has always love the colored lights. I say,
the more the lights, the merrier. I love white on
my tree. But you know what, you can never have
too many lights this time of year, so you really can't.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
No, I totally agree with that. Excuse me.
Speaker 5 (19:22):
Whatever makes people happy, I'm all for it. So have
we got to have a mixture of lights or whatever.
Let's do it, right, yep, whatever works, that's right. Well,
thank you so much for playing along and for joining
us today, Jennifer, we truly appreciate it. Like I said before,
We know you're so very busy, and we absolutely love
