(00:00):
That this is a Bramble Jam podcast. Oh My gonna got mom, gotta

(00:18):
go because it's it's Wednesday, Maynineteenth, and you should take the day
off. Call your mom. Callyour mom. Call it your mom calling
your mom. Hello, everybody,Mother's Day you missed by ten days ish
and you're saying to call your momnow what I yes, what I'm gonna

(00:42):
say is if you haven't called yourmom since Mother's Day, you need to
do. This is a reminder. This is a reminder to call your momsons
to the show. What do youneed to tell her right now? I'm
tell her. Tell Timmy biggs Bethat I I did steal that yo?
Yo? Oh you told Timmy Joeyo. Unbelievable. Did you really light

(01:07):
about it for years? Man,Timmy Bigsby, what a guy you would
do something to, like a kida friend that you feel bad about?
Now you want to say, yeah, there was a kid that on the
streets that I was just thankful itwasn't me, um that was anytime he
would come around, we would justrag on him because it was normally me
that was getting ragged on. Youreally, yeah, and so yeah McNasty

(01:32):
had to get ragged on. Youknow there's a hierarchy of there was Brandon
Kaiser, Brandon Kaiser, there's Dave, there's me, Yeah, there's Mark,
and then wait on here there's Jacob. So you are comfortable enough to
say that Brandon and Dave were aboveyou. Yes, Mark and Jacob were
below you. You would say thatif you you pulled all five of those

(01:53):
guys, they would all give thesame ranking. I bet I could call
Dave right now and he would confirmedthat from Dave. Let me see if
I can get Dave on the form. Yeah, because I do think this
is the stuff that's in Jacob,Mark, Brandon, Dave and and was
there two Brandons? No? Wellyeah, Brandon you wow. I didn't

(02:15):
even say Brandon you did? Yes, m Dave, Brandon, uh Jet,
Mark and Jacob. I'm gonna askhim out of order to rank those
You don't talk to you, Youjust introduce me, and I know Dave,
so this shouldn't think. Let meuh see if you'll answer. This
is good stuff. This is whathappens when it feels more like afternoon and

(02:38):
we're recording takes the day. What'sringing? Dave just guessed? Hey,
hey, Dave, Hey, I'mrecording. I'm recording a podcast right now,
and um Dan has a question.Hey Dave, how you doing,
buddy? Um Well, I answeredthe phone. Yeah, I'm glad you

(03:00):
answered to your your friend group inthe neighborhood growing up. Not friend group,
but these were the kids and thekids in the neighborhood, Jacob,
Brandon, Kaiser, Mark, BrandonGray, and Dave you how would you
rank them on the pecking order ofjust popularity, like hierarchy, hierarchy of
of it, from from one tofive? How would you rank them?

(03:21):
One being most We're talking about JacobRussell here in case sane, Jacob Russell,
Mark, Brandon, Gray, BrandonKaiser, Dave. Those are the
five? All right? Uh?First of all, I think you just
put them in order right there theway you listed them. Go ahead,
I'm just kidding, just kidding,Okay, Jacob's probably Jacob's probably one because
that kind of forgot you like oneas in last yep, yeah, yeah,

(03:44):
okay, um see, I mean, I think, honestly, it's
tough to say in that group becauseI was I had two different groups I
hung out with, and Brandon hadthe one, So I think that otherwise
I think it would probably mean theyou next. No, no, no,
let him keep going, Brandt.I'm trying. I'm trying to I'm

(04:05):
trying to get my first in mylast place. I just want you to
remember the day. Um like onBrandon Kaiser's front yard. And this is
not very didn't happen very often, but occasionally everything would come together and for
reasons unknown, Jacob Russell was there. And so you're correct that he's the
worst. Okay, but just thinkabout that day. Okay, that's not

(04:27):
fair. I asked how your friendswould rank him. Brand Brand had a
distinct ranking, and he said thatyou would match the ranking. So Jacob
his last You and him, heagree on that. But now we're starting
to go off the rails here,Dave. Okay, well, I was
trying to confirm the first and lastplace. But if you want to can
try and build it up. Youwould say you're first, then like you're
like, okay, okay, allright, makes sense, Okay, out

(04:49):
of place with that brand Yeah,no, you're not off by much.
You're not off by much. Hehad one. He had Brandon first place.
I would have Brandon Kaiser in firstplace. Yeah, he had and
Kaiser and then you that was hisone too. That's but that's where I
need to clarify. So if you'resaying we're already hanging out, yeah,
we're all hanging out, like who'spicking on Like Brandon's picking on everybody.

(05:11):
Yeah, you're right, Yeah,Brandon's definitely on top, all right,
And then you, you would besaying, okay, and Brandon then Mark,
then Jacob. Okay, that's whatI'm saying. That was the order.
It took a while to get there. We got a lot of cajoling
from you. I picked on peoplewhen Brandon wasn't there a lot, right,
he was doing it right. IfBrandon was there, then he was

(05:32):
picking on you. And so that'swhy he's at the top. Yep,
yeah, point. I would neverpick on you. But I know Peloton's
having a great day to day.So yeah, thank you for check get
it all right, fuddy, thankyou, you know what, Thanks for
calling see you guys later. Imean, guys, it took a while

(05:55):
to get there because he is right. The neighborhood was split and so the
five those five people, those fivepeople were rarely together. So Dave Dawns
was hanging out with a different group. Yeah, Dave did have a different
group he was he was homeschooled. He had a different group, homeschool group
with But yes, everybody hated Jacob. But I think what the important thing
is David Brandon didn't get didn't reallyget along because there was a you know,

(06:20):
alpha alpha male situation exactly right. And I was just happy to hang
out with either one of them.I was happy to get ribbed on by
either one. That's why you likeme, Like nothing has changed the life,
It's just the people and has changedin me life. For you,
a pirate, nothing has changed inme life. Now that we've done this,

(06:41):
it is national May Ray Day,May May Ray Day. I was.
I was talking to Mother may Ithe diner. I was talking to
the mother that owns Mother may Ithe downer down the street, and she
was mentioning this day and I waslike, what is going on here?
And give me him a biscuit. She came and she probably might bestkin.
She said, just talk to Danabout it, because Dan knows, do

(07:02):
you Yeah, sure, but Ido have to get something on my chest.
From a neighborhood standpoint, we hadin our neighborhood, there was all
these kids that would all hang out. We didn't have separate homeschool gangs like
your neighborhood did. And there wasjust one guy in the on the street.
Can I let me just preface thisthe reason why there was different Brandon

(07:26):
used a lot of language, andso I don't think like Dave's mom like
was not My parents didn't really canyes, because they were next door neighbors
Kaiser, Like there was no wayto hide the fact that Brandon Kaiser was
the worst from Dave's parents. Myparents didn't know. So I was able

(07:46):
to hang out with both of thosepeople, but they didn't really they weren't
together. So we in our neighborhood, we all had kind of nicknames.
And there's this one guy. Hewas a year younger than everybody else.
His name was Peter Philippetti. Thatwas his name as his actual name,
and somehow his nickname was Pooper. That was his like in middle like not

(08:09):
like it as eight year olds likethis is like in between ages ten and
eighteen, we called him Pooper. And I don't know why we called him
Pooper. To this day, Idon't know why it happened, and I
feel terrible about it, Like howwould you feel if everyone else had a
normal nickname and your nickname was Pooper, why it was it was just the
same as Pooper. Something had tohave happened. No, I no,

(08:33):
Peter on your phone. I don'tPooper. I'm sorry, I don't know.
I don't know why. But heinvented mayray Day. If you can
believe um, Nat take a stabat what made Mayray Day? Is all
about ray? Something about sunlight exactlyright now, National Mayray Day was starting

(08:54):
in night by Richard any easy foryou an key in honor of his brother
Ray, who was born on Maynineteenth. Now you might be wondering,
why why do we care about Ray? Who's Richard and Key? No one
cares? You're right, no onedoes care. But the holiday is roughly
one month before the start of summer, and May Ray Day encourage you to

(09:16):
go out and to enjoy the warmwater before it starts to get hot,
hot, hot water. And that'swhat Ray Day changed in me life.
In National May Ray Day, it'sall about you might be wondering, how
do I take this day off,go enjoy some time outside. We're gonna
take a quick break. We're gonnacome back and talk about your favorite way
to spend some time outside during asunny day. How do you enjoy the
sunny days? I'll find out hereon take to day off? Oh man,

(09:46):
ye, sunny day sweeping the cloudsaway. Ain't that the truth?
Ain't that the truth? Hey?Trace, you have a weird thing that
you do out in the sun thatyou swear by. That thing is just
yeah, what is it? Whatwere you saying? You get six baked
potatoes, okay, cut them inhalf. They're already baked. They're already

(10:07):
baked. Okay, you cut themin half. Yeah, you put some
marshmallows on that, okay, withwith some chocolate set m add on top
of that. Some uh what's thatcalled? Liquid? Not liquid? Nitrog
the um ice? Frozen ice?Uh? Try ice? You put it
in dry ice for three seconds, not a second longer, and you got

(10:30):
yourself a good time. And whydoes you why you have to be outside
to do this in the sun becauseit's dry ice? Your mon s you
don't want to get that stuff inyour house. Ruining hard with gosh,
I can't believe, I asked.I don't know what I was thinking.
What are you doing? The sun? Brain? Go inside me too,
I can't go inside. I'd loveto tell you I spin it out at
my pool, but it's not readyyet. Yeah. Yeah, I'm not

(10:50):
upset about it at all. Contractorsare fine. They're good people. They're
good people, and they're doing thebest that they can. There's a chicken
wing shortage. Give them a break. It's a chicken wing shortage, and
it's a it's an eight week projectthat we're on week twelve or thirteen.
We're doing fine. We're doing fine. No we're not. No, we're
not doing fine. Play golf, stay inside. Those are my things that
I do. Yes, I tryto find ways to keep my kids active,

(11:16):
yeah, while also keeping them inside, like a children's museum. Yeah
that sounds great. Yeah, sothings like that. Man Fiser said,
the the old vaccine's gonna be readya just two to eleven before September.
Tell me, I'm not getting mykids first in line on that. That
train, for sure. Unbelievable. All right, let's see what we got.
Mona gets it, she says, inside in the air condition, Rina

(11:39):
says, the gardens in Central Park. But that's just not fair, Rina,
It's just not not fair. Umvisiting wineries, says Aaron Yep,
that sounds It sounds like a goodidea. Buy a pool in the shade.
Alonzo gets it drinking a beer ona deckira YEA feel that I will
say this if I can have,like, I don't mind a screened in

(12:00):
porch with a fan and a TV. I think also people who listen from
across the country, I don't thinkthey quite get like in July and August
here. It's when I lived inSaint Louis and it got hot. People
like, does it get this hotin South Carolina. I'd be like,
you're you're you've lost your mind.People when it gets nice out in the
Midwest, they like get their grillsout, and they like don't want to

(12:20):
miss a second outside. Here inSouth Carolina, we have those days in
December. So when it's in Julyand August, you were inside, like
it is so hot, the humidityis absurd. You don't just go outside
unless you're going swimming. It's reallyreally hot outside. It's really really hot.
It's not a it's not dry no, no, no, not a
dry heat. Um. Yeah,So I like a screened in porch with

(12:41):
a with a fan and a TV. I like that. Genus is kayaking
with a cold beer, and thatsounds like you you really have down to
a science. If you are kayakingand have a beer somehow on that kayak
that's not spilling. That's impressive.I'm impressed by that. Uh man.
A few people have said golf,we should have a neck the Hallmark Golf

(13:05):
tournament. Oh, that would befun, spread out across the country somehow,
No invite everybody here. Okay,we ran out, of course,
love me too. What do wedo? We have prizes? Oh yeah,
we gotta have prizes. Trace pickshim out but forgets to bring him.
That's right. I love it.We have a silent auction afterwards,
yes, exactly. The rig thinkshe's the auctioneer. It's great. Uh,
this is a great idea. Itis um in a pool, Christina

(13:28):
says, in a pool with myfavorite cold beverage and ending with a bonfire.
A bonfire when it's hot is justsound because the skeeters come around.
Skeets come around. But also you'vegot what we're rolling with skeets. Okay,
wrong, you sound like I wouldlike you would discussed that. I
said it. Nothing's wrong with skeets. Okay, then and just back off.

(13:52):
Um, oh wow. I lovewalking around Lake Michigan Lake Front in
Chicago or Look or along most Michigantowns like Saint Joe, South Haven or
of course Potoski Class. Happiness tome is the vivid blue waters of the

(14:13):
Great Lakes, Michigan beautiful. Goand visit Michigan. Hi, I'm Megan's
fine. We have a lot offun here and take the day off.
But we never joke about Michigan. No, we don't. It is as
fun a time as you'll have.Go visit. I hear the golf courses
in Michigan or wonderful. I've neverbeen to Michigan. I've never been.
We should go either, and it'sstill a live show. Okay, Okayian,

(14:35):
if there's enough requests, we'll goto Michigan. I love it all
right, Guys, we did it. I want to talk about Brandon's friends
in his neighborhood. Guys, Iwant to hear your friend groups. How
would you rank the hierarchy? Isthat just a is that just a boy
thing? Does? Guy? Imean, I'm sure girls did it too.
I'm sure there's a hierarchy then girlfriend groups for sure, But I
feel like there was somewhat of ahierarchy on our in our neighborhood, but

(14:58):
everyone was about an like there wasthere was kind of this like ladder,
Like my brother was two years olderthan me, and they were there was
a guy a year older than him, and there was one dude his age,
and there was two people year younger, and then there was me a
couple others like, so it waskind of staggered by age two. So
that kind of throws another wrench intoit for sure. Yeah, friend groups,
man, they're tricky. Yeah.Um, we're gonna be back tomorrow

(15:20):
with this one. What is somethingthat isn't expensive but makes you feel fancy?
I love that one. That's I'mgonna how many people are gonna say,
guacamole. Let's just be honest, like, there's no over under six
answers tomorrow. Guac I'm not looked. Goat cheese makes people feel fancy?
Why truffle truffle, That's there forsure, But truffle ended of itself is

(15:45):
expensive, but I think getting itlike truffle truffle oil. Yeah, I
feel fancy. I'll go back tomorrow. Until then, here's a good day.
Oh boy, coming in chair everybuddy. We have a good okay,
Yeah, thank you for asking dayslate. I held down the ford here.
Don't you worried? I'm very worriednow. It's in ship shaping,

(16:10):
is that it? I can't hearyou. I clucks out for a bit.
