used to do a lot of stufftogether. We did a comics podcast through
Talk Star Wars. Of course theRoundtable was started out on Talk Star Wars

them we did a celebration together.We got a lot of history. We
just because you you left Talk StarWars doesn't we mean we've fell out of
touch. This isn't like, ohI haven't seen you in three years.
No, we've It's it just weweren't podcasting. That means I'm now referring
to myself as a recovering podcaster.I've clearly fallen off the wagon for this.

time around, we had a lotof announcements come out. I think we

by some guy on the Mandalorian.I don't know will we'll say that to
the end. But we get alot of stuff that's been announced, a
lot of stuff was just dropped onus. I'm gonna throw it to let's

say Kyle first. Out of everythingthat's been announced, even just the last
month, what's tickling your fancy inthe Star Wars? Oh boy, I
almost want to say it just pickedsomething out of a hat, and I'm
excited. I'm excited for all ofit, basically, but the things that
have me revved up the most,I would have to say, I'm gonna

go with the Rogue Squadron movie fromPatty Jenkins, just because that came out
of left field. So that justcaught me square in the jaw, and
I'm stoked to see what she's goingto do other than that. Ahsoka one
of my favorite top three Star Warscharacters of all so that's right up on
the list. And of course Kenobiwho doesn't want to see you and McGregor
back in that role with Hayden Christensen. So those are the three that really

have me revd up right now.But I think on top of that,
it's just something like the Acolyte hasme most intrigued. If I can make
that distinction. Okay, let melet me rephrase the question. Then is
uh, what's what's what are youleast looking forward to as far as he's
new. And again, I'm nottrying to be this is a positive podcast.
I'm not trying to poopoo anything forme. You know that the news

about the Bad Bunch, it's likeit was cool in the Clone Wars.
But is this something I want?I'm like, I'm sure I wasn't sure
what the mangalorian when they announced it, so but now I yes, they
apparently they know what I want?Um is something like that with you?
Is there anything? I guess justby default the bottom rung of the ladder

would be occupied by a droid story. I'm still gonna watch it and probably
really enjoy it. They should havethe same theme song they did back in
The Droids, that sting sounding song. Oh oh that's that was the best.

And also I'm an astronaut builder.So is he in the room?
Is he there? He's upstairs?I wasn't. Yeah he is, Actually,
yeah, I didn't. When mykids get sick, I can put
him in the corner of the roomand they can just watch them, make
sure no worms come in and eatmy kids. So um. So Kylie,

So the astromat isn't just or thesorry astromats um the Droids stories?
Uh, I haven't heard anything.I haven't heard much other than just the
splash title, like is there something? Um? Is it going to be?
Like? Oh, here, thisepisode's about R five and this episode
was about well, I guess that'spart of it is because there's so little

info about it that what is therereally to get excited about other than it's
a story about droids and a newhero. I'm not sure if it's animated
or live action. I think it'sanimated, but I don't know. I
mean, there's just it feels likethey're just there. They've got a wedge
of lemon. It's been squeezed,and they're gonna squeeze a little more out
of it. On the on theflip side, I'll be happy to hear

Anthony Daniels back one more time,at least one more time, so there'll
be stuff to pull out of it, for sure, and it's probably gonna
be a riot. I'll watch itwith my kids. They're probably gonna love
it to death, and I'll probablybe pleasantly surprised. So that's that's where
I like to keep it expectations low. Yeah, that way, when it
happens, i'll go, hey,that was that was worth it. I
think. I think that's exactly whathappened with I'm not gonna spoil anything with

the with Wonder Woman. And whenthat came out originally Patty and Jenkins' is
like, oh, what has shedone before? I don't know, I'm
not familiar. And then who's thisGalgadac? I don't, I don't and
then it's like, wow, thismovie is fantastic. And then the bar
was raised so high that even thoughWonder Woman eighty four was was it's it's

a great comic book movie. Itjust there's no way you can clear.
It's one of those things where itwas like when we first see it,
it's like, oh, this iswe have no expectation. I mean we
could say that with Phantom Menace.There was a lot of expectation with Phantom
Menace, meaning like that bar no, all right, going around the table,
Andrea, what are your thoughts?A lot of new stuff coming out

(08:03):
um Um. I'm obviously excited byAsoka um that she is currently yeah,
top three Star Wars character for me, because of all of them, she's
had the most screen time and bestcharacter development. Um. So I can't
wait to see what that produces andhow that links back with Mandalorian and the
other stories. Um. I'm actuallykind of more excited about alcolyte A.

(08:30):
It's it's in a set in theend of a high Republic, so they
have no timeline constraints. I'm gettingeither a syth or force magic vibe from
it, um, and that excitesme that that that kind of takes you
away from the fundamentalism of of Jeditype mentality. So there's a lot of
possibility for creative creativity and and uhstorytelling. Um least favorite or at least

(08:58):
excited about. It's probably and OrI'm droids. It's gonna be fun.
I expect it to be, youknow, written for a third grader and
on a Saturday morning. I'm rightthere. Um, But and Or it's
because you know his his finale point, you kind of uh limit your story

options. I think, I meanthey if if they can tell the story,
well, I'll be excited any more. Lore and backstory I I I
love, but by putting you're havinga finality to the character already and a
limited time spectrum. It just kindof feels feels stunted or or or handicapped.

Right, He's no, I know, I I hear, I hear
Rob Williams thoughts. Is there aI was. I was nodding my head
when you said and or that's myleast favorite. I have no desire to
see that. I probably will justStar Wars but um, okay, Star
Wars show. But I mean Istill like the Holiday special, but it's

endors just the character I found boring. I did not. I'm one of
the few that did not like themovie. But I do put a part
of the blame on myself on Rogueone because of my expectations going in.
I do put part of the blameon Star Wars and the trailers for hyping
up something that did not exist.But yeah, sorry, I don't mean
to get negative, but and Oris my least favorite, and I'm just

not into that sort of thing.Droyd's story. You mentioned Droyd's story.
I was like, Tales of theSand Crawler was a book that should have
been written after Tales of the Canteenand Tales of the Jado's Palace. And
I was always thinking, there's somegreat stories of how those droids got into
that sand Crawler. So this ideathat you're saying, again, I'm putting
my hopes up. But ideas ofhearing about R five D four, how

did he get to what happened after? You know, he ends up in
Mandalorian, right, and just allthese droid stories of things would be really
cool. And I can see Cthree people being the narrator and being the
story terror like he does in Jedi, So I'd be kind of cool.
Lando looks cool. I like thestyle of Lando. I'm curious to see
where what time it is, whetherit's just Um, whether it's after after

(11:09):
Return the Jedi, before Return theJedi, after before solo, what's going
on? I would really see what'sgoing on with that one. And who's
going to play Lando as well?Uh My buddy and Neil um my co
host had a great idea about himbeing the storyteller. I already tell you
this story about you know, justgo on and on about some sort of
droid that he hooked up with,so uh top at all I think Soko

(11:35):
would be is going to be great. But on my list above everything else
is Tales of Sorry, the Bookof boba Um. I'm that surprised me
at the end, and not justbecause the fact that rees is a lie.
I'm okay, I'm going to goon to ever told you the story
about rees Um. The fact Isaw him there just made me excited alone.

But this also as a big returnthe Jedi fan seeing some of these
characters return, like uh like Taskthe Core and a bit of you know,
saw Bib return. Maybe we'll seemore Boss in Denar. What happened
after that whole sale barge thing?What you know, there's a story that
needs to be told there and obviouslyBoba, how the heck did he get

(12:18):
out of that pit? And sohim it's it's like, ah, I
mentioned this on one of my videos. It's like a Disney version of the
Sopranos. And I'd like to seewhat's going on with all this and then
we could probably see and we gotming now win in any show, any
show. It's just it's it's magic. Yeah. And and bib Fortuna discover

carbs. I did he ever?Well the whole remember the book he was
supposed to have, as I knowit's not can anywhere. He supposed to
have his brain taken out and putit inside those bomar months hang around the
palace as it's a church again ormonastery, and so obviously that story doesn't
exist unless unless he got out andhe's like, what's you been doing with

(13:01):
my body? Leased to work itout for the back in the skull,
but yeah, I'd be very curiousto see the whole story of how it
happens, so we might get aflashback. They can't get rid of a
lot of these costumes they've made.They've got to reuse costume. Now they've
got a test. They've got tonsof corn costumes, they got all these
sort of things, so I cansee them using these these costumes and raising

the bid for Tuna a little bitkind of before and after sort of thing.
So excellent mark, same question goingaround, what do you again?
There's a lot to change from,and there is A Soca is obviously high
on my list, if not thetop, because of the name drop if
you had in the Mandalorian, whichI'll try not to spoil just in case

(13:43):
I don't know what we're doing withspoilers in that regard and where that show
is pointing. So definitely a Socaand Obi one, of course, because
that's that has been on my wishlist for years, in before was being
discussed or hoping for a movie.But I think just to I'm not trying

(14:05):
to be contrarian, but and Orhas really caught my imagination. And there's
a couple of things I know theguys have said. It's maybe you know,
you know where Cassian's story goes,and maybe it's not the most original
thing to dip into that character's prestory, But there is something I've picked
up in some of that footage thatthere's a character that's being deliberately obviouscated in

(14:28):
that trailer that we saw that teaser. In some of the boards, the
design, the art design behind someof the talking heads are being fogged out,
defocused. So that's called my imagination. I want to know who it's
a woman by looks of things.I want to know who she is and
what her role is in this.And I know we know what's happening to
Cassian. But as with most characterswhere you know that they're their end destination,

(14:54):
their final destination, or the factthat they're impervious, like Superman,
some of the best things you cando is introduce as appointing character who they
care about and make those the characterthat's at risk. So this this woman
that's on the artwork that they're tryingto keep from us, I'm thy keen
to see you. That is wherethis story goes. I think she might

(15:16):
be the person that we're really watchingduring Angel People know how the Titanic ended,
but yeah, it's still gross millionsand millions of dollars because of the
story that led up to it.So yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
And I think from a just ajust to end, just the top
of a off from myself it wouldhave to be. Um, what do

(15:37):
I want Asoka? Just just Ithink that's one of those ones. It's
because it's it I've watched it frommy adult life. That's kind of a
weird thing because I've been with allthese characters from day one. But as
as those at home playing the roundtable mingle, I saw the original Star

(15:58):
Wars at a driving theater in nineteenseven with my parents. Anyway, Um,
I just had to get that out. But the so I think out
of uh can I be a Soca? Yeah, they're at their tops,
but and again it's so hard,it's just gonna be It's almost like splitting
hairs. I don't have no ideawhat's gonna be my favorite? Obviously having

(16:18):
affinity for the for the Droids thatare coming off, I'll be watching that.
I'm a little leery because of theoriginal adaptation of the Droids cartoon back
in the eighties, but we hada holiday special a long time ago and
they redid that and the new ones, I mean as charming as the first
one was Whipster Whip but the newone is actually it is really the Lego

(16:45):
one is fantastic. So um,I'm not what happened before, isn't gonna
scare me off. But again,I think the bad Batch, I just
I don't know it was in theClone Wars. I thought that it seems
in hindsight, it seems like they'rein that bad Batch bunch or match was
in there knowing what was going tohappen. They had something else lined up,

(17:08):
so they had to create like alittle bit of history, Like because
they had limited episodes on the returnof Clone Wars, do we need that
in there? They could have doneup a lot more, But now we
know in hindsight, well maybe yeah, then wanted this little story art because
it's going to eventually spin off anddo their own show. So I'm not
poopooing it. I'm just out ofeverything. It's kind of like this big

(17:33):
Star Wars buffet right now. Youmean the bad batches, like the broccoli,
It's like, oh, I'm sureI'm gonna put some on a plate,
absolutely, but I'm not gonna letit take You mean that the you
mean the chicken balls or the shrimpor yeah, no, no, no,
I'm not gonna I'm not gonna steeranything else away because of it.
I'm very curious about with the badbatch. If they the Order sixty six

(17:56):
moment, I'm wondering what the situationwith that is. And I'm wondering if
that is how things are started,because do they have the chip? But
are they immune to the chip?What's going on with that? So that's
my biggest curiosity out of that one. Hopefully that's the primary storyline or a
part of the storyline in the beginning. That's what I'm hoping for. Is
it has it just a mini series? Is it like going to be a

(18:17):
repeating series? What is it?Don't remember reading that m I just I
am eated what I am? Andthey've got Fennick is going to be in
it at least that's right an episodeor two or something make an appearance.
So that kind of interest actually forthe nerds here, which is almost UM
so Penick shand let's let's let's backtracka little bit to UM episode seven with

them there's a bunch of criminals whocome take over han ship. There is
them, those guys with the circlefaces, and then there's another group there's
a shand in there is or isn'tthere a criminal whose last name is shand
yeah, one of the not theGuavian Death Gang, the other guys,
Canji Club, Canji Club things,right, Rob, there is somebody whose

last name in that group is Shanned. I just think nothing's by accident on
that. It's hard. Yeah,I tend to think that nothing happens by
accident in Star Wars at that level. That name was selected for a reason.
Who knows. It's curious, justcurious because that could be her son
eventually over time. So and maybeBoba's son. Maybe they have a I
would love child, and those moveson and everybody and the whole world is

related to each other. So yeah, that's Baby from the robo womb.
Yeah, well that's what it is. It's built there. It's it's an
incubation thing right inside there. Justit's the new version you updated. That
was the only misstep in that episode. Yeah, yeah, I think so.
Yeah, it was weird. Ididn't figure out how it all worked,
But you know Star Wars. Yeah, maybe they do like a mini

Camino in there and just have abunch of Baby Boba's still coming out.
That's what they do with the withthe clone guy they got off the ship.
Oh, I got another job foryou, by the way, I
want to create another mini me.So all right, okay, So what
I'm gonna do right now, I'mjust gonna let this be known to everybody
out there because there's a few thingsI want to touch on them. But
there's stuff we have to talk about. If you have not seen season two

of The Mandalorian, as much asI hate to do this, go away
because it's and if it hasn't beenspoiled for you already, good on you,
Like, yeah, you're you're definitelynot on social media, You're not
watching this on Facebook, You're notany anywhere around any of us. So

okay, so here on out,we can go ahead spoil a bit.
Um, I'm not gonna I'll letsomebody else touch on that last little bit
how they ended. You may knowit's weird, but anyway, um,
do you I've seen where I've seena bunch of memes where they're saying,
I mean, you see the onewith JJ Abraham saying you can't please everybody,

like the og crowd and the prequeland the and the and the sequel
crowd, and these John Fabris likeor hold my beer, m those moments.
This is happening what we wanted asot fans or what I wanted.
I'm just gonna just I'm not gonnaspeak for everybody. I wanted what happened
after Jedi, right again, becausethat's where I left off. I wanted

to know what happened after Jedi,and then the only thing I had after
Jedi was a Thrown trilogy. Andnow what name pops up five years after
Jedi Thrown? I mean, andnow we have this new character Aska that's
sprinkled in and that's you mean,So that's awesome, And of course there's
links to Ezra and Sabine and allthat other stuff. So basically, what

(21:40):
we're having is what we wanted asOT fans, and again with the Thrown
trilogy and the early nineties because thatwas the only thing we had. It's
like that's a lot of us cravedit. So now we're getting five years
after Jedi. M what's happening withLuke? What's happened with the Jedi Order's
now you're getting getting hints of Thrownand everything else. It's like, basically,
somebody was listening to me. Iguess, I don't know, like

again, and I'm I like,I like the sequel to relies they got
nothing wrong. If you're gonna putout a new Star Wars show or Star
Wars movie, I don't have tolove it, but I'm not gonna go
on line and poopoo it. TheResistance cart animated series wasn't for me.
But it's not like I'm gonna Imean, scorched the Earth because they made
something that Rob Cast disagrees with,like it's or it doesn't or it doesn't
is it entertained by or is iteven made for someone a forty seven year

old white guy from Sudbury, Ontario, like like, so you know what
I mean? Like again, I'mventing at it was in their mission state
exactly, Yeah, he was inthe opening crawl specific exactly, Rob stop
lotching. What did you do?Rob? Who did you upset? Which
one? Um? So basically,But now I'm seeing this Mandalorian. It's

got that old school look. It'sfilmed very similar. We're getting a lot
of the there's fan service everywhere,even even even the Reese fans are excited.
Well the Reese sorry the correction,the Reese fan in the room.
No, it's me and Ben bothMeg's notorious. And of course the reveal

at the end. Um. I'msure most of us saw this coming.
But yeah, Luke Skywalker making anappearance as a jed a night so around
the horn, I'm gonna throw atKyle firstcause because keep things in order.
Um, so what are you?What are you thinking of this new Star
Wars Luke Skywalker thrown Yeah, Yeah, it seems like they've built themselves almost

(23:40):
an MCU style universe on the DisneyPlus side of things. Where they've left,
They've planted lots of different seats forthem to explore. And the way
I'm thinking of it, I thinkLucas film with in tandem with Disney has
sort of evolved what their plan is, whereas you know, going we've just
celebrated the eighth year of Disney takingover, and so I think originally,

(24:03):
of course they hadn't you know,Disney Plus was not really a thing in
their brain at that time, soeverything was about theatrical releases. And eventually,
now we are in twenty twenty movingout of it, and it's all
about Disney Plus and how are wegoing to populate this platform? And so
they've I think they've evolved from let'swe can now space out our movies because
we don't know what the hell we'redoing post episode nine, and we don't

(24:26):
know what direction to take this.We don't know. It seems like theatrical
fans want two separate things, andhow do you make that a coherent thing
for a theatrical release. So okay, let's put that aside for a minute
and let's just mind the hell outof Disney Plus and let's give them all
kinds of stuff. Let's talk aboutLuke, let's throw in Grand Admiral Thron,

(24:48):
Let's bring a Soca back into themix, and let's build this all.
It seems like with Asoka and withMandalorian Rangers of the New Republic,
which we didn't mention before, butthat's part of it. It seems like
they're doing this MC style build uptowards a confrontation with Thrown and his forces,
perhaps which might lead us closer tothe sequel trilogy and the First Order

(25:10):
origins. That's kind of where myhead's at. I'm excited for that.
I always wanted to say, like, I want to go forward. I
want to see what happened after Riseof Skywalker. I want to I want
to go past all this stuff.I don't want to worry about the backstory
and the Lord of the Details.But it seems like Star Wars fans almost
split down. I want the backstoryof the Lord of the Details, the
checkmark the boxes I want to Iwant that info and pushing ahead. But

(25:33):
I'm an easy mark. I willtake it all. You know, I'm
a bottomless hole when it comes toStar Wars content. So bring it all
on. I'm excited for all ofit, and especially now that they've they've
fleshed it all out, it seemslike to me that this might be where
it's headed. I gotta agree withyou, but also I am again I'm
by Wars. I'm also a bigStar Trek fan. And what people wanted

(25:56):
most when the reboots are happening,everything else it's like, no, what
happens after When Voyager finished What's Next? Like everybody was like, yes,
I get it, Kurt, Yeah, he was awesome, Okay, cool?
Whatever? It was just you know, I mean it was It's it's
almost that same sentiment where like,let's push forward a little bit here,
even though there's lots to be mine, but there's lots to be done,

(26:18):
and but it's just it's it soundsit's it's it. Just give us something,
tell us we want to turn thepage on the story, right.
And the biggest sorry, I mean, the biggest analogy I can come up
for it is is we've got up. We've all these forty years we've had
a puzzle, and we put thepuzzle together, and then after episode or
after Return the Jedi came out,the puzzle was complete, and then the

(26:40):
prequels came around and we said,oh, it's not complete. Actually we've
built the bottom half of the puzzles. Now we're gonna build the top half
of the puzzle. And then Disneytook over. Turns out, oh,
we didn't have that at all,So you got to redo the puzzle and
fill it in again. And itseems like with every announcement we're the same
puzzle is just being organized. We'rerebuilding the edges of the puzzle and then

(27:03):
filling it in again. What whatI'm hoping for at some point is to
say this puzzle is now complete,and you push it to the side and
say, take the box, emptythe pieces on the floor. We're building
a new puzzle. It doesn't connectto that one, right and other than
by name, yep, no,and I agree with you. And again,
like I was saying, with wantingto turn the page on the next
step, but that's that was mysentiment. I understand five years after Return

(27:25):
of the Jedi, yes that isbefore him Forest awakens, but I mean,
that's that's my next page. Again, I understand that's kind of going
backwards a bit, but again it'sit's just wanting to continue our favorite stories.

understand why Luke came back and he'sa fan favorite and I appreciate him,
I actually was kind of disappointed thatit was him. And either way school
I just wanted something that didn't havea Skywatcher fingerprint in it. Um I
I kind of you know, whenyou put Skywalker in and then you once

again you're starting to put you know, fan expectations and handicapping yourself going okay,
well now we kind of know whatLuke kind of was doing during this
time period, so now we haveour expectations. They're different now. I
too, am a Star a StarTrek fan. Actually, Star Trek was
my original fandom. My first howdo we end this skull again? This

is this is my one and onlyappearance on the Round Table. Um.
But um, I am currently watchingthe New Star Trek and I appreciate the
fact that they literally jump a thousandyears um and so that's also why I'm
really excited about the High Republic stuff. It's it's even though it's backwards in
the timeline, it is untapped timeperiod. There's there's no real um weights

that you have to our anchors,that you have to really hit besides certain
basics, you know, so Iyou know when you put brought Luke back
in, like I said, andyou know, traditionally we only have like

That's the thing. They didn't.They didn't put any groundwork for any
of the other characters. As Ezrahad been fun because it would have been
an interesting point if they have Asokaand the and and the throne stuff pretty
mapped out, because then you justkind of throw that out there. You

push Mandalorian back a season because thenyou put Boba in there, and then
you put a Soak, and thenthen you bring Mando back. But that's

bring Luke in, you kind ofput our expectations in a certain flow of

other Jedis to choose from. Justwhile, I got you on on the
comparison to Darth Vader and Luke Guywalker, they're they're they're saber fighting abilities.

oh, when Obi Wan killed Mallat the end of Rebels, that looked

for really He's like, yeah,of course, elatory. So I'm asking

missing? No, No, it'sthey obviously took their their cues from the

where you get the difference between likea soak fighting style which is very active

when when you look at Obi Wan, you look at Qui Gon,
you look at Luke, they tendto be very more linear, very straightforward,
for a lot more effortless in thethey're just kind of mosying through where

it it it showed that that youknow, he got some of that training

the hallway with a saber ignited versusLuke. For me, what that scene
brought about is that everybody in thegalaxy is terrified of anybody with a glowing

Vader through the eyes of those haplessguards, right, and they're all screaming

for their lives, Vaders walking throughand he's chopping them all up without even
a sweat. And it's kind ofthe same thing in Mando, where we

Luke mo through these dark Troopers,which gave our Mandalorian of all kinds of
fits. So I don't see itas necessarily a tribute like Father, like

of Star Wars have done this umgraying of things good and evil. Ass

just point of view, and that'sall that stuff has kind of been uh

where it's people are afraid of theJedi. You don't understand him. They're
terrified as they're terrified of Luke's Gouwalker. We're crying. I'm crying watching Luke,

because we know Luke, but everybodyelse is terrified of this guy. And

I think that's a story point thathas kind of gone amidst all the happiness
