(00:01):
Okay, do you have a storytimefor this one? Because I knew nothing
about it. I don't. Soit's weird because like when I was doing
like the research on this and checkingthings out, the stuff that just set
me, and then looking at afew other things, I'd never even seen
this line like growing up. Whenit came out, it was not ever
something that hit my area. Iended up watching was It the Toy Galaxy?
(00:27):
Dan Larson had done an expose onit, and it was a part
of a trilogy, right, andso I was watching that, and I
remember watching the other two cartoons andgetting into one of the toy lines,
but this one I'd never even reallyhad heard of, So I, you
know, I don't have a storytimeunfortunately for this one. The line He's
(00:51):
not talking about folks, his TigerSharks by LJN. And that's why I'm
here Talking toys. Welcome to TalkingToys with Taylor and Jeff, where we
(01:15):
go back in time to discuss ourfavorite toys, one toy line at a
time. Hello, and welcome tonot talking toys but Taylor and Jeff Taylor
(01:37):
and I'm Jeff and folks. Thatstory time, Taylor mentioned the research that
I had sent him, and Ijust want to bring it to everyone's attention
and remind Taylor that this was atoy line that he suggested. Yes,
but and yes I assumed something aboutit. So what let's so, let's
(01:57):
recap, folks, let's recap.Um. I did all the research for
this one. I do all theediting. Taylor basically just shows up and
plays Fred Willard from Best in Show. Um, oh, so yeah,
you gotta start pulling your weight again, Taylor. Come on, I'm I'm
honored by that. Well, so, you know, looking looking looking at
(02:17):
the toy lines. So I did. I did go through and I was
um because as I was looking throughthe figures to understand a lot of like
the engineering, how they were made, um to understand like the backing of
it. So I did watch likea whole series of videos. Uh some
where there were toy openings where theytalked about tiger sharks that showed some of
(02:40):
the play features, showed like someof the the ins and outs of what
they did. You know, kindof size comparison. They're they're very close
to size to the ThunderCats. They'rea little bit undersize the ThunderCats. But
they're bigger than Silverhawks, but theyare a part of a trilogy of universe
(03:01):
characters from ThunderCats to Tiger Sharks toour ThunderCats Silverhawks of Tiger Sharks. And
the thing is is that the companythat made the cartoon and the creative minds
behind them meant for them to allbe kind of a world builder like way
(03:22):
way way before there was a multiverseof things. And it's interesting because in
the relaunch of the ThunderCats cartoon,at one point, when they're looking at
this screen, you can see ThunderCatson one screen. You can see kind
of tiger looking people like shark peoplein one screen, and people flying around
(03:45):
with silver wings and silver suits inanother. So there was a kind of
a thought process, a plan.If ThunderCats the remake had done well in
the two thousands, they would haveprobably launched all three property But they know,
I'm sure they were planning on itbecause that was in the middle of
that, you know, right whenthe Marvel Cinematic universe was really taking off
(04:06):
and people were trying to jump onthat bandwagon. So yeah, I would
if they had, if they hada plan to create this this universe,
it would make sense for them todo it in this way. However,
ThunderCats was kind of the property thateveryone knew, right, Silverhawks was,
(04:28):
you know, the kind of nextbeloved but didn't have quite the same fan
following, and most of the timeTiger Sharks no one knew about because you're
you're looking at cartoon wise ThunderCats thatran in the eighties, that had oh
god, it was over a hundredand odd Yeah, Tiger Sharks had twenty
six episodes. Yeah, yeah, that's it, you know, So it
(04:49):
was and it The Tiger Sharks wasactually paired with a series of cartoons that
would basically go through a rotation calledthe Comic Strip, along with Karate Cat.
Do you remember karate Cat? Ido not remember Karate Cat. I
don't know. They're along with StreetFrogs, Karate Cat, Tiger Sharks.
I can't remember what the other onewas. But it's like, you know,
(05:12):
I never watched Tiger Sharks because Inever got exposed to it. Um.
Apparently it came on like Sundays onspecific TV channels and it was a
part of a rotation where they wouldplay two episodes of one of these four
cartoons every week. So even whenyou got Tiger Sharks. You would see
an episode maybe one Sunday, andyou'd have to wait two weeks for the
(05:35):
other. Well okay, so yeah, so so Tiger Sharks is from LJ.
And so Taylor, give us ifyou can based on the breach.
You appreciate you doing that research andwatching those videos. I really was joking
about all of that. Um,can you give us a rundown of what
(05:58):
the premise was like? Is thisanother or is this like ThunderCats where they're
from another dimension or is it youknow, genetic mutilation or something like that.
So what it is is it is? It is genetic Okay. So
there is a sea exploratory unit thatgoes around and I believe it's through kind
(06:19):
of through the universe. But theygo and they explore different oceans and in
this one m sea oceanic group theygo and they explore this one area the
ocean looking for resources, trying toprotect the fish and the wildlife. And
(06:39):
in that one doctor, doctor Walrome, decides to create this genetic pool.
They find this material and he decidesto use this genetic pool that would enhance
them aquatically to create basically sea lifeor or make them into sea life based
on who they were. So eachcharacter you know, goes into this pool
(07:03):
and becomes a specific sea life.So Bronk becomes basically a seahorse, Doctor
Walrow becomes a walrus, Dolph becomesa dolphin, Lorca becomes a orca,
Mako becomes a mako shark, theonly shark out of the group. And
there was another which is a wale, isn't it sorry? And then and
(07:30):
then there was one other team memberthat never was made that's Octavia, and
she became an octopus, so shehad like an octopus sort of head and
pretty much the same premise as Silverhawks, except Silverhawks. There were genetic bird
people that float through space to stopmutants and bad guys. But they were
superheroes ThunderCats. They were mutant catsfrom a planet that stopped mutants and they
(07:51):
were superheroes. This there mutant sealife that stops bad guys from taking over
the os and enslaving sea life andcausing you know, um, causing like
oceanic spills and stuff. Now thepeople Captain Biserly, Spike, Marlin t
Ray, these creatures. Tray wasa part of an oceanic group that also
(08:15):
got mutated but they would try tostop the um the tiger sharks by you
know, basically like killing them ortrying to destroy their their station. Captain
Biserly and Spike Marlin workhorse space piratesthat would come down and try to steal
resources from the ocean, which theywould stop on multiple occasions. So it's
(08:41):
kind of been Sorry, I haven'tbeen, I haven't been recording this whole
time. We got to do allit over again. Sorry, Oh no,
are you kidding? I'm kidding.I'm kidding. U Are we Are
we still with you? Are westill with you? Folks? Are you
still with us? Um? So, so basically, these are people that
have been turned into shark and otheraquatic type of animals through the machinations of
(09:07):
this. Uh doctor wal Row anddoctor wal Row. If they ever do
a movie of this, it's toobad Wolford Brimley is not available to play
it because that would be that wouldbe perfect casting. So okay, well,
folks, this was going to bekind of a shortest show because there
are only eight toys in this line. They're all figures. So we're gonna
(09:28):
do We're gonna we're gonna break downto the line. Then we're gonna do
a top three and are one thatgot away. But I did think this
was just weird enough that we neededto talk about it because we've we talked
about ThunderCats, we talked about silverHawks, so naturally we have to talk
about Tiger Sharks in the trilogy.Yeah, so, am I correct in
assuming Taylor that you have never hadand do not currently have any of these
(09:52):
in your collection? No, Ido not. This has been one of
those so like I have looked pricewhy on eBay and these things go for
upwards into the hundreds of dollars oncard. So well, one of the
highest price ones I saw was goingfor about a thousand. It was an
(10:13):
a graded card. There's some thatrun about three hundred dollars a pop.
I have seen these in at showslike conventions, and even a loose figure
will run a premium of sixty toseventy dollars, that is without accessories.
Now, who is buying these? It has a very it has a very
(10:37):
weird fan base. It's it's oneof those where usually people who are big
fans of Silverhawks and ThunderCats and haveboth collections usually will find their way into
Tiger Sharks. And grab those aswell. It's just it's weird. I
know that I know Super seven atone point has even because they have the
(10:58):
license now for cats what they've beendoing the ThunderCats ultimates, and I know
that they were also doing the Silverhawksultimates, which has kind of had some
some some fan backlash on it.They have mentioned before and have thought about
doing Tiger Sharks as well to kindof round out all the extra characters.
(11:22):
The problem is is that, youknow, the people who like Tiger Sharks,
I don't think we're really going tobe out to buy a Tiger Shark
Ultimate because these things had such alow quantity being made for market that the
people who are buying them, they'rebuying, you know, hundreds of dollars
worth of these figures and then that'sit. The lowest price I've seen on
(11:48):
one of these is it was like, I think it was a bronch and
he was selling for about forty dollars, but he was missing both the front
and back plate for his head exchange. And so it's kind of like you
can get one of these figures forthirty forty dollars, but then they'll try
to pee smell it together you're goingto be spending upwards into one hundred at
(12:09):
least. Und Yeah, and it'sit's kind of it's it's ridiculous. It's
a little bit like, you know, kind of like Sectars has kind of
gotten pricier. This over the yearshas just gotten pricier. There's been this
weird fan loyalty thing like you canbind you know, bootleg DVDs of it
with kind of a low riff traffare like not a riff track, but
(12:31):
it's got a low resolution rate. What you can buy DVDs of it at
conventions, but nothing's ever been putout officially. Well, yeah you can,
but I mean again, they're they'revery low, low resolution. All
right, Well, let's let's goin and talk about the figures. Now
(12:52):
again, we have eight figures. We have Doc wal Row, as you
mentioned, we have Bronc Lorca,Spike, Marlin, Mako, Dolf t
Ray and Captain. You called himbusily. I would have said, bizarrely.
Yeah, he's supposed to be apirate captain. It's bizarre early so
(13:13):
if I'm not mistaken, it lookslike they all have a human head and
an aquatic head, and it lookslike the heads are housed within their torso
kind of like the some of theghosts from Ghostbusters. Is that correct?
Yeah, so some of the ghostsfrom Ghostbusters. The best thing to look
(13:35):
at was back in the late ninetiesearly two thousands they had a quick head
change run of Power Rangers where youwould basically flip the arm and one head
would roll out and the other head, the helmeted head would roll up and
(13:56):
the chest plates would kind of closedown on it automatically. And it's a
lot of the same technology they usedfor this was later used for that as
well. Okay, so basically youturn like an arm or I think,
yeah, and these you turn anarm and it would flip the head over
from one side to the other. And they had like a human head and
(14:20):
then their aquatic head because they wouldchange as they needed to when going into
the water and doing there there there'sstick. Okay, you could say,
yeah, and so it was I'massuming it was fairly easy to make that
change. The one thing that Ido like is for the most part,
(14:43):
they've hidden that feature pretty well.I Mean, you can see obviously on
most of them that there's that thereare lines going down their chest, but
I think they probably could have donea better job of hiding that a little
bit by making it, you know, like giving them like a an outfit
or something. Bronk is the onlyone that I've scene that maybe doesn't have
that feature, or at least it'snot hidden as well. But it may
(15:05):
just be the picture that I'm lookingat. He has the feature. Yes
he has a feature, but buthis like his is open, like his
chest is open, and it mayjust I think maybe there's a chest plate
that's missing from the one I lookit is. Yeah, Okay, I
see that now. Yeah. Yeah. One of the problems with getting these
and aftermarket is oftentimes the chest platesare missing, right, And that's just
(15:28):
that's this weird, kind of sadfact about them. But it was it
was always their left arm. Ifyou rotated their left arm back, it
would flip the heads out, anda lot of them had it also where
they would have like pop out fenceon their arms and legs that would kind
of pop out a place to givethem fence for making them go through the
water quicker. Right, Yeah,And so how many points of articulation we're
(15:56):
talking here? I know they're obviouslytheir arms and their their next move.
Are they articulated at the legs becauseit doesn't really look like some of them
are. Yes, so they dohave articulation legs. They are swivel rotations,
but they're at a forty five degreeangle, so the legs rotate kind
of like how the ewalks rotate outright. That's how their legs would also
(16:18):
rotate out But it was all swiveled, which is different than what we got
with ThunderCats, where we had theninety degree you know hinge. These would
rise with their legs out well, and I guess that's probably just a result
of how they were made, becauseif I remember correctly, I believe the
Silverhawks were ninety degrees as well likethe ThunderCats. Yes. Yeah, with
(16:41):
the Silverhawks being kinner, yeah, that they definitely would keep on that.
Well, that's right, since theywere all connected. I always forget that
they're actually they're actually kinner toys,Yeah, which is which is what makes
them so much stranger than this line. This line works well with ThunderCats being
a little bit smaller, but theywork well with ThunderCats, but they're too
(17:03):
big for Silverhawks. So even thoughcartoon wires are supposed to be like a
trilogy. Nothing was ever planned inthe way that they felt cohesively, like
attached to one another. Besides forthe Ruby Spears company that was running all
the cartoons. Okay, now,the only one that I can see,
(17:26):
well, I don't know, um, I know, Captain bizarrely doesn't change
into a fish. No. Whatabout Spike Marlin? What is he?
What is his deal? Do weknow? He's he's a space pirate,
so he's he's like a So he'sone of the he's one of the bad
guys. Yeah, the okay,Captain, Bizarrely, Spike, Marlin,
(17:47):
and t Ray are all bad guysand they do a is a transformer for
lack of a better word, isa fishman, Right, He's a fishman,
but he is not a transformers. So none of the bad guys transform.
Okay, so he's just always afishman. Yep, Okay, he
doesn't have like a human human head. Okay, I gotcha, I'm with
you. That's that's weird. Itdoes seem kind of weird, but it's
(18:15):
it's like all the all the badguys to have their their own kind of
play feature, but they they don't. They don't transform like they That's just
not something that they do. Right, there's spike connection. Okay, so
like Spike Spike Marlin, you twisthis waist and you make him uh spike.
(18:37):
You spike somebody with his removable whateverspike it is, he'll like raise
it up or whatever and captain Bizarrely, when you do that, you make
his arms thrashing, his teeth chatter. Yes, and then for um for
the t ray, he has awhipping arm. That's that's more like the
(18:59):
super Powers action features that we gotfrom Kenner as well. Yeah, or
even like the action features we gotfrom like Mum Raw and some of the
ThunderCats, because there was one Ithink it was um Let's see, it
was a monkey and he shoots atray shoots a stream of water as well,
So don't put dirt in him ifyou do get one tailor. I
(19:22):
wouldn't. I wouldn't. He might. His name is not Sandstorms, so
true, come on, his namewas Sandstorm, so obviously as a kid,
I'm like, way, he's supposedto shoot sand right, not a
mist of water. He's supposed toshoot sand which since I got Sandstorm,
he's in good condition. I havenot made that mistake again oh good.
(19:52):
Yeah, So anyway you were saying, oh um, yeah with uh with
with a lot of these, there'salso water squirting features on several of them.
We've got one, two, threethat have water squirting features, t
Ray being one of them who hasa whole mask that fits over his head
that shoots water. You've got Lorcaand Doff that also shoot water and they
(20:18):
shoot it out of their blowholes. So they've got holes in their head for
their fish heads that you can sticka tube in the back and you can
kind of belt on this like almostlike a rebreather pack, and they shoot
water out of their blowholes at people, which is kind of cool. It
is, it's it's a really gooduse of the premise, right, So
(20:42):
okay, so let's talk about tRay then. Let's start with him.
He's the one that reminds me themost of a thundercat because his color scheme,
the color they're they're sort of muted. They're they're lighter colors, but
they're sort of muted. And hereally does he looks like he would fit
in with ThunderCats. And do youdo you agree there? Yes? I
(21:03):
do? Um, And I thinkhe's the one that kind of kind of
gives you that thundercat vibe even whenyou look at the card art and everything
with him, the way that he'sset up on the card art, if
it didn't have tiger sharks up aheadof it, I would think that he's
a thundercat. He's bulky like athundercat, his accessories feel like a thundercat.
(21:27):
He looks like he would belong inthat group very easily. Well.
And speaking of the card art,the villains have a different card art than
the heroes. The villains are inlike a like a cave, it looks
like, whereas the heroes there, their card art is more sort there's like
(21:49):
a pinkish ue to it. It'slike a sky behind him. Right,
Yeah, I'm pulling up one ofthe and and water they're yeah, they're
coming up out of the water, whereas the bad guys are in the cave.
Yepp. It's really nice. Yeah, it's a really nice uh change
between the two, really nice comparisonbecause the other good guys have that sort
(22:11):
of you know, blue blue andpinkish background, whereas the bad guys are
just sort of that cold, grayishblue cave behind them. So it's it's
really cool and it's weird because likethinking about so thinking about um ThunderCats and
the connection with ThunderCats, the badguys, both Spike Marlin and t Ray
(22:33):
both looking at them on card andseeing how their cards are built, look
more like the cards that we gotwith ThunderCats, including like the layout of
the like the drawing of the actionfeature, the way that they're presented on
the bubble of course, the LGand rainbow at the bottom. Everything about
it looks very much like ThunderCats. And both of these I have seen in
(22:57):
some collections being mixed up with ThunderCatstoys. I can see that, especially
again with t Ray, I cansee that. Yeah, well, and
even even Spike Marlin, because whenyou think about like the like not necessarily
the mutants, but when you thinkabout the cyber the mutant cyborgs, like
(23:17):
the humanoid people that have like thedifferent motorized parts and pieces, he he
looks like something out of Masters ofthe Universe more to me, really ThunderCats.
Spike Marlin does. Yeah. Ithink it's because he's human maybe,
but and he's got that nice headbanddown. He looks to me to be
shorter than the rest of the figures. Is that correct, yes, Spike,
(23:41):
Yeah, okay, yea. Andthen t Ray has like a has
a kneepad on one knee. I'mguessing that's so he can go down to
shoot things. Not sure. Maybeit's one of those where I'm looking at
I'm like, maybe he just hada bobo on that leg and maybe so
(24:02):
it's I don't know, it's it'sweird. I don't know anything about him
having it. Like I see thekneepad and it's interesting. It looks like
it could be like a laser eye, but it doesn't make a lot of
sense. But it was just kindof break up the asymmetry and like or
to make it a little more asymmetricaland add a splash of color and have
(24:26):
something that works along with the headpiece. Yeah. Yeah, So Captain bizarrely
is an interesting design. He lookslike something out of the Yellow Submarine cartoon
to me, Yes, and thatwas that was in my notes. That
was one of the biggest things becauseeven okay, so let me pull him
(24:49):
up. Even his weapon sounds likesomething from Yellow Submarine. So the blunderbus
blunderbuss, yes, yeah, andit's it's a very whimsical and kind of
crazy looking, has a lot ofyou know, um, kind of Doctor
Seussian sort of like that's a goodway to put it, Yeah, very
(25:11):
much so. And even his designbecause he's he's got those he's got the
red pants with the like the tanboots, and then he's got this bright
blue jacket and then he of courseis like a like a sea foam green
I guess which makes sense. Andhe's wearing what looks like a a marching
band hat, and he looks likehe's he looks like he's in a marching
(25:33):
band because he's got the paaldrons onhis shoulders and everything epoets I guess which
which is why? He feels likesomething between like Yellow Submarine and something from
a Doctor's SEUs book. Like right, his weapon feels like a Doctor Seusian
item. His get up reminds youof something from Yellow Submarine and he or
(25:53):
like even, uh, what whatwas the show them? There was a
Muppet show that was kind of likethat that Fraggle Rock. Yeah, it
reminds me even of something from thatera Fraggle Rocket. It fills very late
sixties, early seventies, and itdoes eighties heading into the nineties yeah,
(26:18):
I can see that. Yeah,So let's talk a little bit about them,
the heroes. So it looks tome like Lurca, Mako, and
Dolf and maybe just to a certainextent, Bron but definitely Dolf, Mako,
and Lorica are all very similar.Would wouldn't you say, as far
(26:41):
as they're design and everything, andthey're they're they're the way they're built.
Yeah, for the most part.Um, for the most part, I
know, Maco has Maco being thethe shark of the group, he he
is missing the play feature that Loricaand Dolf carry. Um. They all
have the head switch ru thing,so they all like have that that had
(27:04):
to flip, which is nice. But Lorca and daw both also have the
added feature of the um like thatbasically the spray that shoots out of there
there um blow all. Whereas Makohas the same sort of head switch that
(27:26):
they have, but he doesn't havethe water shooting thing. Instead, he
has fence that pop out of hisarms and legs. Okay, but but
I would think yeah, so,but but those three together I think would
be sort of the if you weregoing to have a generic tiger shark,
it would be these three. Yeah, yeah. I mean, since Maco
(27:48):
is the only one that's really ashark, right, give him a point
for for having one shark out ofthe group. I will say, though,
I do like Mako's design, butespecially his um his human head.
I like that he's got like akind of a mohawk, like a white
fin. Yeah, and and naymore ears. He has kind of pointed
(28:12):
ears like he is like like he'saquatic in that way. Yeah, he
has on risk rocket as well, but it's great. It's the same color
as everything else, so it's reallyhard to see. But his Yeah,
his design is fairly basic, thesame with Lurca. I do like Lurca's
(28:36):
color scheme um the dark blue withlike the cream colored. Yes. And
he's probably the most muscular out ofhim. M Yeah, he's a little
bit more hef to him, he'sthe one that looks more like a master.
He's built more like a he manor a master's in the universe figure.
Yep. It's interesting though that hishis head, his his his Orca
(28:57):
head to me looks more like abird. Yes. And it's also interesting
that in the picture the drawing onhis card back he's got a white upper
mouth, whereas the figure itself isblue. Yes, I don't know why.
Uh, there there were some changes, um, I think even like
(29:18):
the like the the card art hashis face a little more purple. But
then the actual humanoid head is notthat. Um I'm trying to find a
good picture. It's not that purple. It's more of it is more like
flesh. Tom, So it's eventhat and yeah and I assumed that.
Yeah, yeah, all right. So so then let's talk about We've talked
(29:44):
a little bit about Bronch. Let'stalk about Doc wal Row, who is
h to me, he's sort ofthe shining star of the line because he's
just goofy. His his walrist feet. Sure, he looks like a walrus.
Um, he's human feature looks likeit looked. Tell me he doesn't
(30:06):
look like Wilford Brimley. Oh yeah, it totally going into this. Like
seeing Walrow, all I could thinkof was like, is that supposed to
be? Because I mean it lookslike it's supposed to be him. You
know. The only thing is theyprobably should have given him glasses or I
(30:26):
think a monocle might have helped. But yeah, it's right very much.
Um, yeah he he, heabsolutely looks like Wilford Brimley. Um.
And he's got a like a reddishred and orange color scheme to him.
And let's see uh and he's uh. He comes with like a little fish
(30:51):
accessory too. Yeah, it's asea pup, sea pup. Okay,
of course, the walrus pond. It's it's loy m Pet. I'm remember
the I was trying to look atthe name of this, but it's a
pet character in the show as well, I believe. Okay, it is
like a sea pop if you lookat him. And then he has like
a little like staff thing that healso carries. It's supposed to I think
(31:15):
it's like a walking cane or somethingthat he has, right, he can
use to bot people on the head. It's his susure like sure from the
character from Home shush kind of seeingthat. Oh it's pretty good. It's
pretty good, that's what I hear. And he's another one that's when he's
when his when his legs come out, they splay out like a forty five
(31:36):
degree angle. It looks like um, and I like that they made him
pudgy. You know, he's notin the best shape, so yeah,
I Duck Duck Walrow is is greatand I love his His outfit almost looks
like a Starfleet uniform. It's gotthe flat going across the front. Yeah,
and everything his I think for me, I I personally prefer his look
(32:00):
over like Dolf, Lorca, Makobecause his feels like a wet suit.
I mean they have that's a halfpoint. They have wet suit kind of
like ability to them because you know, there's seams here and there, and
then like Dolf has I think it'slike a dive watch, and Mako has
(32:22):
I think like a seam up byhis knack, and Lorica I don't think
it has anything that really feels likea wet suit. But they're supposed to
be like wet suit and then theyswitch into their animal sort of ability to
carry on their superhuman strength. ButDoc Walrow feels like a wet suit.
(32:46):
It does. It really does. And I do like that and it's absolutely
correct. Yeah all right, well, folks, I mean that that's the
line. So we're gonna take ashort break and we'll be back to discuss
our top three as well as ourone they got away. Okay, so
since neither one of us had these, but Taylor met the bullet and watched
(33:07):
some videos. I'll let you choose. Do you want to go first or
do you want to go last? You know, I'll go first, Okay,
I'll go first. So my numberthree, and this was this was
a tough one because I wanted toput my one that got away as my
number one, because I really feellike it's the number one. However,
I'm reserving the right that the onethat got away in this case, since
(33:30):
it never got away is truly mynumber one, like the one I would
be after. But keeping that oneon that list, I'm gonna go down
mine. So my number three thatI chose was actually Mako. I feel
like he's kind of the quintessential tigershark. When you think of tiger sharks,
(33:51):
he's usually the face that comes up, and including in the ThunderCats episode
where they show the the three differentup of people, the people in the
water were actually like Mako. Theyare a tiger shark people swimming around.
So to me, that's kind ofthe corn essential. That's my number three.
(34:13):
Okay, that's reasonable. And againhe's the only one who's actually a
shark, so it makes sense thathe would be on your list. My
number three is t Ray, andit's it's for no other reason than his
design. I just think he looksawesome. He looks mean, and I
just I just love that design.I love the you know, the swept
up of his of his of hisuh the I guess you'd call it the
(34:37):
wings. And then I love andI love the painted like a beard on
him. He looks like he's gota beard and he's scowling in his ears.
He you know, he reminds meof Black Manta from Aquaman. Yeah,
I was gonna say. He alsoreminds me a little bit of Overlord
from Black Star with the Yeah,I can see that as well. M
(35:00):
Yeah, another favorite character of mine. Yeah, which I need to get
mine replaced. Yeah you do so. But yeah, like everything about him.
I like that he's get this scortingaction in his helmet and everything,
the color scheme, he looks, you know again, he looks kind of
like looks more like the ThunderCats. So yeah, t Ray is my number
three because I just think, Ilike I said, I like the design.
I think it looks cool. Whatabout you? What is your number
(35:21):
two? My number two is actuallyDoc Walrow. Again, you know what
we talked about like, I lovethe color of the suit. I love
the fact that he looks like heis in a suit. I liked that
it comes with the cane and oneof his hands is actually shaped to hold
the cane upright, like he's,you know, actually walking on it.
(35:45):
And the sea pupp is absolutely adorable. We interesting enough. The Sea Pup
reminds me of some of what wegot when we would get like Wiley Cat
or or Kit or Eve and Snarfin the Thundercat's line. The Sea Puff
kind of has a nice call backto that from that day, and I
(36:08):
dig it. I think it's fun. Okay, yeah, no, that's
that's cool, and you're absolutely righton all accounts. I won't say any
more about it because he make himup on my list. My number two
is Lorica for two reasons. One, I love the pun on his name
because he's an Orca yea and sohe's Lorica. And I like the color
(36:28):
scheme. We talked about it before. I like that dark blue with the
cream color on his color scheme. And and again, like he said,
he's sort of the sort of themuscle of the group. He's sort of
the the beefiest of the group. And I like that they didn't make his
head the paint job on his headlook like the painting on the car back
(36:50):
because as a result of that,he looks more like an orca, right,
just more like a killer whale. And I like that the way they
sculpted his his boots they could beboots or they could just be skin.
Same with his gloves, you know, his forearms and his and his hands
that could be gauntlets, they couldjust be skin. I just think it's
really cool and I like the youknow, he's very bare bones. He
(37:10):
comes with a tank and like yousaid, you know he can he can
do the same thing that Dolf does. But I just yeah, I just
think it's a cool figure. Andit's one that if you looked at it,
you'd kind of know kind of whatthe line was about. Yeah,
you may not guess tiger sharks. You may guess you know, fish police
or something, fish army or something, or or whale army even better.
(37:35):
But yeah, it's it's just acool figure. I like the design and
that's why he's my number two.I will I will jump on that,
both him and Dolph. Like again, it's kind of there's a genius part
of it, and that once they'rein their fish form, the fact that
they have a hole that you cansnap a little squeezy bottle too that almost
(38:00):
works as like a scuba pack thatgoes to the back of their heads so
they can blow water out of theirblowholes because Dolph for dolphin, Lorica for
orca. Both of them have blowholesbecause they're sea life mammals. And I
just I love I think that thatis that's kind of a cool little nod
off to a play feature that wewouldn't get with every single one. And
(38:22):
I love that they are looking atspecific things that these mammals do and using
that as a weapon for them tofight with. No, yeah, yeah,
absolutely right, Yeah, that's cool. So that brings us to your
number one, alrighting, what isyour number one? So my number one
and it's kind of a weird one, but I love like the design of
(38:43):
them as a complete thing is bronch. I really dig his design with the
kind of skeleton like kind of armorthat's up on his body, of the
fact that he feels like he haslike a a one piece suit that comes
up on his shoulders and he hasflip flops and everything, and this kind
(39:06):
of like stringy, almost like seaweedtype lasso that he can whip out,
and even a holster for it.I really like the look of this.
He doesn't really feel like he fitsin with everything, but he does.
And it was strange seeing how theywere going to make a sea horse out
of this kid. And I mean, he's supposed to be a kid,
(39:28):
but he's big, you know,he's like an adult sized kid. But
I really love the the the useof the sea horse imagery for him in
order to make him feel like asea horse, along with horns on his
shoulders and the kind of build ofthe kind of armor onto his body.
(39:53):
Cool. Yeah, and see,to me, he's sort of kind of
the ones that just seemed kind ofgeneric to me. But after what you've
after what you've explained, it makesperfect sense for him to be your number
one. Yeah, so I canget behind that. However, my number
one is Doc Walrowe because at aglance. At a glance, you might
(40:13):
think he's a chubby wookie, butupon closer inspection you realize he is a
walrus and his human form, you'dsay, hey, that guy looks like
a walrus. Well, funny youshould say that because look at this,
he is a walrus. Blow somebody'smind. And like he said, he
comes with a little pup. He'sjust he's just a fun figure. He's
goofy, and that's sort of epitomizesthis toy line to me, and I'm
(40:37):
now rethinking my one that got away, but I'm going to stick with him
as my number one for that veryreason because he's just goofy. And that's
what this line says to me,is he's just it. It's goofy.
It's weird, it's not meant tobe taken too seriously, and it's sort
of half baked. And that's exactlywhat this figure says to me, is
he's half baked. But I dolove that he's in the wetsuit like you
(40:58):
mentioned, and I love that hecomes with a little a little pup accessory.
So it's very cool. So Warrowis my number one. That sea
pup is cute, is adorable tohave, I thought. So, so
that brings us to the one thatgot away? So which one I think
I know? But which one isyour one that got away? Let me
(41:21):
ask you which one are you thinking? Captain? Bizarrely? No, oh
okay, now my one that gotaway is t Ray. Okay, I
forgot that he wasn't on your list. So yeah, I'm in absolute love
with this figure. This is onethat it's like, if I had to
get just one, this would bethe one for me. This is like,
(41:44):
this is awesome, and I'd hadto get him with this accessory.
It's like, I love the lookof him with the whip and the mask
that the whole whipping armed thing like. He reminds me a lot of Manta
Ray from the Teatina, which wasone of my favorite action figures from that
(42:04):
line. And I love Manta Raise. I've actually swam with Manta Raise before,
done some diving in Cozomel and inrow A ten where there were man
to Raise in the reefs, andI absolutely love them so well, Devil
Raise in the reef and then manto Raise in Cozomel. I'm sorry,
(42:25):
you've done You've done bragging? Sure, Okay, no I can't. I
can get behind that. Like Isaid, he was my number three,
so clearly you know we both havea lot of affection for this guy.
So I think it's cool. Ithink I think that's a perfectly reasonable one.
The reason that I thought it mightbe Captain Bizarrely is because Captain Bizarrely
(42:45):
is my one that got away foreverything we talked about as goofy as Doc
Wall where he is. Captain Bizarrelyis even goofier. And you would look
at this guy on my toy shelfand go, I have no idea what
this is or what it goes. When I would oh, that's from Tiger
Sharks, and you look at itand go, I don't get it,
and I would say I don't either. But he's kind of funny, right,
(43:07):
I mean, look at look athis gun. He's like, yeah,
that's why I was confused. Itlooks kind of like a cross between
Yellow Submarine and Doctor SEUs, I'llsay, exactly. So obviously he's from
a line called Tiger Sharks and abumper Blaster. Like it's just it sounds
like it sounds like you know something, It sounds Susian, it does,
(43:30):
and that's a real word. That'sa thing. Blunderbuss is a thing.
So yeah, yeah, I justyeah, he's he's goofy, and I
love it. And that's the oneI would want on my shelf just because
again he would spark. I thinkhe would spark the most, the most
conversation. Yeah yeah, all right, well, folks, there you have
it. That is everything and probablymore than there is to say about Tiger
(43:52):
Sharks. So we'd love to hearyour thoughts. So hit to the Facebook
page and if you have any inyour collection, sell them because apparently they're
worth more than gold. But wewould love to see him, so posting
pictures for us. I was goingto say, for those who are Tiger
Shark fans and have a collection,I know that there was a whole series
(44:13):
of like one giant figure in vehiclesthat never came out, and I know
that apparently there are some sellers oneBay that are creating the Dragonstein, which
was the giant beast that was nevercreated for the Tiger Sharks toy line.
Like it was created. It showedup in a and like a seller's catalog,
(44:37):
but never made it to market. There are people who sell those online
where they are three D printing them. If you have one, definitely have
to show that one off. Yes, absolutely all right, so that will
do it. So for this editionof Talking Toys with Taylor and Jeff,
I'm Taylor and I'm Jeff. Iremember they're not dolls, action figures,
(45:01):
action figures that don't. I shouldlive up to the name except for one.
But it's a makeo, not atiger shark. Yeah that somebody did
not think this one through. Whatif? What if there were lemon sharks?
This whole thing would be like alemon. Good night, folk,
