to a company, They'll stay maybea year and they figure, oh I
can go do this on my ownor they want short term things because they
want to travel, they want adifferent kind of lifestyle. They don't want

to be tied to a desk.They don't want to be working for a
company for thirty years. So Isee the future of work or really especially
for this next generation with their withtheir phones, with their computers and not
being in a corporate setting like wewere or like we're seeing. I wouldn't

see that same thing with a higherad And I think people in higher it's
gonna have to switch their mindset onhow they even do higher education. It's
not just going to be in alecture hall. These young people, they
are not wanting to sit in alecture hall and here you talking for a
fifty minutes, an hour and fifteenminutes. Even the way how read.

They have to start thinking about itas a business as well, and say,
Okay, this next generation they're moreof the gig common, they're more
of the shared economy. They've beenworking the uber and the lifts and Starbucks
on the side and doing all thisother work. How do we educate them
in a way to get them readyfor a different kind of work place or

different kind of work environment down theroad. Yeah, I tell you what
though, even with my boys,I can tell you, I mean when
I have some positions with them,I mean, they have great jobs,
but they don't necessarily see themselves stayingthere for like ms by the same way,
I'm like, you're ready, buthave always been great offering me.

If I ask something and they're notoffering me that, then I need to
go away that I've been offered that. And I'm looking at them like huh.
I mean with us, even whenthey when we ask something and they
don't offer it. With this,we's down there. Yea why, I
have no clue, but we justsee there because we want stability, we
want you know. But we thenthey're willing to take the chance, which

is the difference. They're like,yeah, we'll take a chance us.
We're like, no, we justwant to we just want stability. But
they're like, we can fly.We'll do whatever we need to do.
We will do it. If itdoesn't work right now, we move on.
And I've been noticing that they thatgeneration actually get what they want by

the firm. We were afraid.We're like, we don't want to lose
our jobs. We're single mothers,we're single guys. We don't want to
lose our job. They're like,okay, I just say yes or no,
and if you say no, well'llsay thank you. I ain't know
by the end of the year mostI've begun. You just said something that

they want. You just said somethingthat's key with this new generation and the
past generation. They don't get caughtup in stability. No, but that's
what that's the mindset you have tohave to even be in the gig economy,
because it could be you could ifyou had a gift of creative graphics

for Disney or some of these bigmovies, and you see that other production
houses can use your gift to You'renot trying to just stay with the You're
not like I'm not just stuck withthis one company. My gift can be
for many because they're not caught upin the stability they caught up in.

Okay, how far can I go? How how far can I take my
gifting my skills to really spread itand eventually be on my own. Like
my son wrote, he has workedin several different sectors of gas and or
finance, healthcare in his in hisas a systems in your engineer, and

he was like, Mom, Ineed to work in all these because I'm
like, you're going somewhere else.He's not gonna work in all of these
sectors because I want to eventually havemy own And if I've worked in those
spaces, that's the way they're seeingit. They're not seeing I'm gonna go
work for this company and be therefor thirty years. They are not afraid,
not afraid. They're another afraid tofly. There are not And and

the thing is they'll save them moneyand they'll say, you know what if
it means I'm I'm home for sixmonths trying to figure it out, That's
what he means. But I'm gonnabe okay on Like my generation's like,
oh no, oh my god,I have these two. I have that
to do. No, I can'tmove, even even where a miserable.
We stay there. We stay therebecause we're not now. One of the

things I was looking in your book, I was looking at page twenty three,
right and three you talked about lackof benefits, some of the things
that could be kind of like adrawback. Yes, make because I want
us to talk about that for thosewho are actually watching and listening right now
and saying maybe this is something Icould actually do. But I've also seen

in my field where people would tellme, Okay, how do I take
care of my baby? You knowwho needs healthcare? How do I take
care of myself with my healthcare?I need benefits? And then on the
other hand, I see some thatsaid, okay, all right, for

one ca is what you make ofit. You know exactly what some people
tell me is what look at lookis that? Look at what look at?
Or Wall Street right now, it'swhatever you make of it. So
let it goes goady to go pickyour money whichever. With so lack of
benefits you mentioned that that is goingthe biggest pea false or the gig economy,

you said it lack of benefits.Talk to us about that absolutely.
One of the things I tell peopleif they were wanting to do a side
gig and they feel like they wantto transition and do it full time,
they have to make sure that they'remaking enough if they're working for a company
that's covering all of that, thatare covering their benefits. But they were
like, I'm gonna leaven do thison my own. What happens and a

lot of them get in troubled becausethey don't think about what is it going
to cost for them gonna pay fortheir healthcare to pay for all of those
benefits and do their retirement and allof that. And so one of the
things I have them do is reallylook and say, how much do you
really need to make in order foryou to cover that? Do your research

on how much even your healthcare willcost. A lot of people don't know
because their employee is paying it,so they don't really know what the cost
is until they go research. Itcould be some state insurance programs for a
self and point person that you canget that you don't even you're not even
aware of that may not even costyou as much as you're thinking. But
if you do that research ahead oftime. But a lot of times people

jump out there and then look,we've seen them, We've seen I'm gonna
be entrepreneur. They come off,they come to us and we're like,
you're not ready. You have nomoney saved up, you have not counted
the cost. Let's go back accountthe cost of what all of what you're
gonna take. Because one of thethings that I am seeing is that a
lot of the companies, especially theubers and lifts and those kind of people

that are doing that as a sidegig or people are retiring and going and
doing that. They're they're fighting itin court because they're seeing they're going to
come up with this number that's goingto determine whether a company cannot consider you
a self employed or based on anumber of hours that you're working them.

Yea lifts, you can work themto a max where the government is going
to consider them your employee, thenyou have to give them the benefits.
So there's this debate and these courtcases, especially with the uber and lyft,
trying to figure out what is thatmargin that you have to be on
some people that are wanting to doat full time and benefits. Some of

the companies, I think they're gonnaget to that place where they're gonna cover
some of that and they're gonna helpsome of their people, But you have
to count the costs and figure outSometimes I tell you need to have at
least the years worth of money inthe bank if you're planning on leaving,
sometimes more depending on the sector thatyou're in, in order for you to
make that leap, because if youdon't have those benefits. The wrong time

to figure that out is after youhave left your job. I leave your
job and your benefits, and youdo not have a plan. I know
that there will be a lot ofnurses that will be watching and listening here,
and a lot of our nurses theycaress their caregivers, but sadly,
many of us are not great entrepreneurs. We can take care of the whole

world, yeah, you know,but when it gets to entrepreneurship, they're
not great at that because a partof their brain wants to say, oh,
you can't afford it. He hadthe medication by But then the other
part is your entis due. CanI have the money right exactly? I

wanted to talk to my my,my nose three years because many of them.
I actually had a particular one thatworked for me for a while,
and then she decided to go outopen hers right without me knowing anything.
So she left. I just thoughtshe just left. I just thought she
went to go and open on ourown one, until all of a sudden,
six months later, her people startedcoming to our clinics and saying,

we're looking for her, and I'mlike, what do you mean you're looking
for her? She left. It'sbeen six months ago that she left.
He said, no, no,no, we've been seeing her. We
still saw her last look. SoI was scratching my head, thinking,
okay, so what's going on here. But it became a situation where more
people were coming looking, and everytime we would say she's down with us,

just say, oh, well,we'll just stay with you onto.
Somebody finally told us that she started, but I guess she got to a
point she didn't realize that it tookmore than just sitting and caring for somebody
and just chatting away and doing counselingand can't the cuff. So I think
(11:48):
she got to that part she couldn'thandle it, and she just walked away
from her for my patience, whichis not even legal to do, but
literally walked away from all of ourpatience. So I wanted to talk to
people like that who think that,okay, I see you all, I
gotta do this, so it mustbe easy. So I'm just gonna go

ahead, right, the same kindof buck, just go ahead, stopped
doing what were your land is doing. Talk to people like that, Yes,
yes, yes, yes, thatis so good. We see that
so much. And I think socialmedia has not helped it. Yeah,
because it can make things look easy, what you have the grace to do,

what you have the background experience todo, and also the back end
stuff that people don't even think aboutthat needs to be done. The business
side of business. It's not justabout seeing patience. It's about the accounting,
it's about the finance, it's aboutthe HR, it's about billing,

insurance, It's about and if youdon't know that piece, you better get
somebody that does know and bring themalong with you or ask questions. If
you are working for someone and youthink I want to go and do this
on the side, it's okay togo to that person to say I think
down the road, I really wantto do this. Will you mentor me
get a mentor. People want youto be successful, but if you like

slip out the back door and sayI'm want to go do this and then
you crash, you don't even youcan't come by be like oh I want
I want no go. I tellyoung people, if you started working for
a company and you see the presidentand you say in your mind, one
day I want to be the president, get you some mentors. Because even

as the president, if you findout what really goes on as the president.
You may not want it. Youmay not want that stress because you
are carrying the whole thing. Peopledon't realize that your staff are sleeping.
You're the one up. Weren't aboutthe us. We gotta allow for us.
Let me figure out that's that's theleadership and that's the ownership of a

company that people don't think about.They see you doing the work, they
see the success, they see patientscoming in, they see your staffing that
are working, but they don't knowthe back end. We both are run
companies and run foundations, and weknow the back end of it. When
we weren't sleeping. I'm like Lord'speople gotta get paid, that's right.

I think people see the outside.I used to even tell the staff,
you get a paycheck every week.Let me tell you how that happens,
because I think people can be workingand not realize what takes place in order
for even get that paycheck, andwhat it's hard owning a business. Entrepreneurship
is not easy, and everybody's notcalled to be an entrepreneur. So we

need to work for somebody. Theyjust need to go work for it.
