nine nine, just one more week until the four hundredth
episode of the show.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
I'll tell you.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
More about that shortly and our big giveaway, but first
you can probably hear that I'm on the road right
now recording this week's show at an airport, coming home
from Mexico City. So apologies for a bit of ambient
noise here, all right. So, as I mentioned last week
on the show, we've got a great giveaway for a
lucky listener next week on the four hundredth episode of

(00:53):
Teck it Out. It'll be a brand new Asus laptop,
and I'll share more details with you next week when
I also explain how you can win this what you
need to do to be eligible to win. But onto
today's show, where we have four great guests. Speaking of
Mexico City, I attended the first ever electronics show Mexico.
It's a trade show that focuses on Latin America, and

(01:15):
so I'll have the organizer on the show in a
minute or so in an interview recorded on the showroom floor.
I think you're gonna really like this one. It also
touches on tariffs and other international issues today. After that,
what's new from Reolink and its security cameras for the home.
Then tech lifestyle expert Mario Armstrong will join us to
share some summer tech ideas. And finally we'll talk with

(01:37):
a company called Eternal Applications that lets you leave messages
for loved ones after you die. Yep, but not just
immediately after your passing, but for any of life's major
milestones like birthdays or holidays, anniversaries and more. Creepy or cool.
I'd love to get your feedback. You can hit me
up on social media. I'll plug my social media handles

(01:58):
when we get to that interview so you can let
me know what you think. But all of this and
more on an all new tack it Out powered by Visa.
Securing the world's payments is priority one. I'll tell you
more about Visa's anti fraud efforts shortly, but let's officially
kick off.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
The new show with our first interview. I'm here in.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Mexico City, beautiful Mexico City, at the first ever Electronics
Home Mexico organized by Grupo Elektrolar. I'm here with Carlos Klure,
He's president of the company. Pleasure to meet you, and
congratulations on launching this first ever show in Mexico City.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Nice to meet you. Mark.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
We are organizing for twenty years in Brazil the biggest
consumer electronics show in Latin America.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
In San Paulo.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
Right, so, Pablo, I'm now also in Argentina and now
this day, we are very happy for Electronics Home Mexico
because we complete the three biggest economies of Latin America
and we want to integrate Latin America more. Also, Mexico
is a very good place for b.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
The door of Latin America.

Speaker 5 (03:06):
The proposal our show is integrated the industry and the
retail and all the market together to develop business with distributor,
with factories. And today we have the focus to make
our show more international, and so this step to launch.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
In Mexico this strategic to build.

Speaker 5 (03:28):
The network in all Latin America for international business.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
You have brands here that are international. I know there's
some from China, from Europe, from North America. So this
is already even your first year here very much an
international show feels like it.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
Yes, we have some companies from Brazil, from Mexico, from China,
and some famous brands worldwide. But this is our first one.
We want to increase this in the next year. We
have will be in June next year also it's sixteen
to nineteen. But in today, in Argentina and Brazil we

(04:07):
have all the famous brands. In the same time we
have a global suppliers. Is a pavilion with international suppliers.
We are increasing many categories. The focus is the consumer electronics.
This market is all the time innovation with innovations to
that increase the cells. No like always, so we are

(04:32):
showing the new products. But the most important is the
high level network with entrepreneurs of Latin America and global
suppliers that they come to our show to connect with
distributors in Latin America with big retails with big factories
to make joint ventors. So the focus of this presential

(04:55):
meeting is a big showroom of products, but the most
important is the high level network that we provide in
our shows.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
And you also have manufacturers here from Latin America, so
from Central America, South America and Mexico. So it's not
just suppliers, but also the tech companies themselves, the brands
that maybe my audience isn't familiar with, but they create
consumer electronics.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
So part of the show, if I may.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Paraphrase, is to celebrate what's happening in Latin and the
scene here and as we just heard on stage with
a panel, sales.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Are really booming. But it's also to show the rest
of the world what's possible.

Speaker 5 (05:34):
Yes, the point is we have twenty years doing the
show in Brazil that today the base sixty thousand square
meters is a big show. We have around four thousand
visitors professional and then we want Mexico be part of

(05:54):
this increase, not like we made in Brazil and Argentina.
That is a very good point of meeting of the
connection between Latin American buyers and the rest of the
war suppliers.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
Also, the suppliers of.

Speaker 5 (06:12):
Latin America already have a big factories in all Latin
America that they are. Some of them they are subsidiaries
of the international companies, but part of them there are
local factories that also they are looking for time vendors
or they are looking for to launch in new roads.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Also would be remissed not to ask you about tariffs
and how that's changing the mood with a lot of
these tax suppliers and the US and manufacturers. Obviously everyone's
still trying to figure out when the DOST settles, what's
going to happen with the tariffs and so is it
also about forging partnerships and relationships outside of the US
to strengthen the economies and not be so dependent on

(06:55):
the US.

Speaker 5 (06:56):
I think they have always had the positive side the negative.
I think today also US is watching more Latin America
factories in the same time China is watching more Latin
America like a big market. I think Latin America together
is biggest than Germany or Japan together. So today the

(07:20):
problem of the tax some companies in Latin America are
preparing to have, example in Mexico, to have more components
or more percent of the production be local for be
available to incite in US. So one request of the
factories is to bring some components companies to have established

(07:43):
business in Mexico and starting to develop more percent of
the production here to be available for the US. And
then also Mexico is watching the neighbors countries to improve
the also.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
In Latin America.

Speaker 5 (08:02):
In the same time US is watching Latin America factories,
and in the same time China is watching Latin America
like with another eyes, because they are not focused just
in Europe and US.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
I've noticed on stage today they talked about the fact
that Mexico is uniquely positioned on both oceans, so from
a logistics standpoint, they are an amazing hub for international
companies to sell two other countries, not as to Latin.

Speaker 5 (08:34):
Yes, Mexico have a geographic, very strategic position in Latina.
In Latin also is a big market, is the second
market after Brazil, and Argentina is the third. So our
company is doing this integrating the three biggest markets in
Latin America to invite the neighbors countries to any show

(08:58):
that we with the idea to make the show more
international and to be more integrated and generate business between
Latin America.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
My last question is what do you think for our
American and Canadian listeners, what do you think is the
biggest misconception when it comes to the Latin American tax
scene here.

Speaker 5 (09:18):
I think is also the same miss concept that also
the Latin American have with the Latin America and other
neighbors countries because always they're watching Europe and US and
don't watch the neighbors countries and Latin America. Like I
mentioned before, the economy together is biggest than Germany and Japan,

(09:40):
so will be like the third economy together, so.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
They need to be more integrated.

Speaker 5 (09:45):
Mexico, Brazil, Argentina they have a biggest market. If some
companies in Canada also US want to make businesses, not
just in this global economy, they have possibilities to have
a good to have daies to boot, but for the
solution and also for production.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Excellent Carlos, congratulations once again on the launch of Electronics
Home Mexico. Been great chatting with you and thanks for
having us here.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Thank you so much, Mark for coming and for all
the support.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Welcome back to tech it Out.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Just one more week until the four hundredth episode of
the show.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
I'll tell you.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
More about that shortly and our big giveaway. But first
we cover cybersecurity a lot on this program and how
you can best protect yourself in the digital age, even
if you're not super tech savvy. One part of the
solution is securely shopping online, and so I'm thrilled about
my partnership with Visa on Tech it Out, as they've
made some significant investments in fraud prevention over the past

(10:44):
five years, as much as ten billion dollars yes that's
billion with a bee to support Visa's brand promise to
protect the financial information of individuals and businesses. Zero liability
means peace of mind when you shop online using your
Visa card. There can be no half measures when it
comes to cybersecurity, which is why the company takes an
aggressive and multi layered approach to combating the rising threat

(11:07):
of malicious software and other threats by well funded and
global criminal enterprises. Read more about Visa and how securing
the world's payments is priority one at Visa dot com
slash Security. That's Visa dot Com slash Security.

Speaker 6 (11:22):
We'll be right back listen to check it Out whenever
you want to find the Check it Out podcast at
it or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Welcome back to check it out, whether there are more
break ins in your neighborhood, increased instances of porch pirates
taking off with packages, or you simply want some extra
peace of mind to keep an eye on your home,
whether you're inside or away from it. Security cameras are
becoming more affordable, easier to install, and with a handful
of cool features to learn about Reolink, which offers a

(12:02):
vast selection of wired and wireless security cameras. We're joined
by Guy Pithy. He's Real Links vice president for North America.
Hi Guy, thanks for your time today.

Speaker 7 (12:11):
Hi Mike, Yeah, thanks for having me.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
I really appreciate it great.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
So before we talk about specific solutions that you've got
some products from the real Link family, please tell us
a bit about the company.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Real Link absolutely.

Speaker 7 (12:23):
Reallink is a leading provider of innovative security solutions for
your home or business. Reallink was founded in two thousand
and nine, and since then we've been dedicated and focusing
on really providing innovative solutions that are cost effective, easy
to use, and affordable.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
He's got a really.

Speaker 7 (12:40):
Wide range of everything from entry level Wi Fi or
IP camera solutions to a solar powered range of cameras
that are powered by solar panels. We also have LTE
solutions that work off selling of the networks, which are
really cool. And then we have a professional line of
NVR solutions network video recorders as well as power over

(13:02):
Ethernet cameras that connect to your network or directly to
the network video recorder.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Okay, great, So these are mostly outdoor cameras.

Speaker 7 (13:09):
Yeah, mostly outdoor cameras. We do have a few indoor cameras,
but majority of our cameras that we sell and design
are designed to go outdoor, weather rated, go withstand extreme conditions.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
And why do you think these are popular?

Speaker 7 (13:24):
Okay, outdoor cameras are a very popular. First off, see
your first line of defense on your property or your business.
Not only do they provide instant notifications if someone does
walk on your property, you can log onto that camera
and see live footage and you can also download recorded footage.
So it's really your first line of defense. And it's

(13:45):
also a major deterrent.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
Yeah, good point. So it's a deterrent.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
But then you also have some video footage should you
need it. And then depending on which unit you go with,
how you share that footage with say, the authorities will vary,
but let's focus on the real link. E series is today,
and why don't we start with the E five sixty.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
What is it and who is it for?

Speaker 7 (14:05):
The E five sixty is a really cool compact outdoor
or indoor rated camera. It's four K resolution, so it's
super high resolution. It has pan, tilt and zoom, so
it has three hundred and fifty five degrees panning so
you can control the camera left and right. It also
has fifty degree tilt control, so you've got you can

(14:25):
control the camera up and down. It's Wi Fi six,
so it's the latest Wi Fi protocol. It's fuel Wi
Fi ban so it's two point four and five gig hits,
so it's very easy to set up on your Wi
Fi network. It records locally to a micro SD and
we've the E five sixties. We've included a sixty four
gigabyte memory card with this camera, so everything's recorded locally.

(14:46):
You don't have to pay for any cloud subscription.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
I like that.

Speaker 7 (14:49):
Yeah, it's a great option because a lot of people
don't like spending money on monthly subscriptions these days. The
sixty four gigabyte memory is upgradable to one hundred and
twenty eight gigabyte. It's two way tour, spotlights and siren.
So it's a great camera to put in your front
garden or your business or your backgart it because you
can monitor the whole viewing angle of your front property

(15:11):
or the back property and you can control the pan
till zoom via the app, so if you log on remotely,
you can control the camera. The camera also has auto tracking,
so if it detects someone on your property, the camera
actually will follow someone until they out of view.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
We're chatting with Guy Pithi. He is Real Links VP
for North America. We're learning about its outdoor cameras, specifically
the E series first starting with the five sixty, and
then we're going to move into a battery based model
in a moment. So for this Wired E five sixty, Guy,
how much does it cost and where's the best place
to buy it.

Speaker 7 (15:44):
It's retailing for one hundred and thirty nine ninety nine
right now, so really competitively priced. We've got promos running
down to one hundred and nineteen in the next couple
of months, and you can find this product on best
buy dot com. And we're actually in seven hundred and
twenty seven best buy stores right now, So your local
best buyer has got this camera on the shelves.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
All right, awesome.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Now let's pivot and talk about the E series. The
model called B three sixty. The B stands for battery,
I assume.

Speaker 7 (16:13):
Yeah, the Argus B three sixty another really cool compact camera.
We've also included the sixty four gigaby the memory. It
doesn't have the pan till zoom but so it has
a sthetic fixed lens, but it has a battery built in.
And we've also included a six watt solar panel, so
you don't need any power source for this camera. All
you need is a place where you can put it

(16:34):
where it gets a bit of sunlight. It comes with
a three meter cable from the solar panel to the camera,
so you can mount say the camera on the north
facing side of you of your property and have the
solar panel on the east or west side, depending on
which one gets the most summed. So it's another it's
another four K resolution camera, so it's high resolution that

(16:55):
has two way talks, spotlight and siren, and it's a
really cool camera, a competibly priced also at normally one
sixty nine to ninety nine, and we're also doing promos
down to one twenty nine at best Buy. Yeah, we're
doing Deal of the Days right now in the next
couple of months, so we've got some really good promos
running on these two cameras.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
So our guest B three sixty would be for those
who who don't want a wired solution, and then the
only sort of trade off is that there's no ptz
pan Tilton Zoom, but everything else is pretty much the
same four K resolution app support, sixty four gigs of
included storage.

Speaker 7 (17:31):
YEP spotlight, two way talk, weather resistant.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
And down to one twenty nine. It's only ten dollars
more on sale than the.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Sale price for the E five sixty, so this lets
you choose which one of the two is for you.
And I know there are other cameras at reolink dot
com as well.

Speaker 7 (17:45):
Guy, Yeah, you can learn about all of our products
on rear link dot com. We have a wide range
also on Amazon dot com, Best Buy dot com, costcos,
but you can find at all of your major retail outlets.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
All right, awesome, guy, Thanks, thank you so much for
your time. Appreciate it again.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
The Rio link E series, the E five sixty and
the Argus B three sixty, which you can learn more
about at those websites.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Thanks again, guy, Thank you very much.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Mark.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
We'll be right back with more tech it out momentarily.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Want to follow Mark Google, Mark with Az and Saltzman
with a Z breaking down geeks peak into street speak.
This is check it out to check it out with

(18:35):
technology columnist, author, and TV personality Mark Saltzman.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
Summers here and it's the perfect time to upgrade your
fun in the sun or while at home with some
cool new ideas and who better to share them than
Digital lifestyle expert Mario Armstrong is on the program once
again to share some of the latest gadgets and gear
to help make the season even hotter, even better. Hey, Mario,
always great to chat with you, and I suspect you're

(19:00):
having fun showing this tech on TV stations today.

Speaker 8 (19:03):
Right, I am having a lot of fun. Do have
a lot of tech here? Partner it up with some
great brands to really help people figure out something that's.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
Great for the summer.

Speaker 8 (19:12):
You know you're going to be traveling road trips summer travel,
but also what can you do at home that can
make it even more fun.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
Right, those who work or in school probably get some
downtime as well, so you always have great ideas. Since
this is radio and or podcast, I'm going to ask
you to verbally explain these cool gadgets. So why don't
we start with two of them that can help jump
start your summer?

Speaker 8 (19:35):
Okay, well, my first one is the new Kindle Color
soft s. So everyone knows what a Kindle is, small
handheld device, but this is the first Kindle with a
soft color display. So imagine seeing your favorite books in color.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Now.

Speaker 8 (19:50):
This is incredible and more and it's distraction free.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
One of the things I love about the.

Speaker 8 (19:54):
Kindles no pop ups, no text messaging, like I can
actually just lock in and read and absorb the content.
This one does have an auto adjusting front light, which
lets you read in any light, so you could be
in the sun, or you can be at bedtime and
it will automatically adjust.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
It's got an eight.

Speaker 8 (20:11):
Hour battery life, and what's really cool is that it's waterproof,
so you could take this with you to the beach
or the pool, or if you read in the tub,
you don't have.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
To worry about water getting on it. For sure.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
I love the idea of this, especially for kids books
because they tend to have more illustrations, Yes, they do,
as well as for textbooks. I know a lot of
students read on Kindles and now they can highlight in yellow,
you know, passages and things like that. So I think
that's it's really a great idea, as well as digital magazines,
which you can also read on the Kindle color soft sure.

Speaker 8 (20:44):
I mean, like you know, gray scale highlighting just.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
As yeah, exactly, it doesn't have quite the same impact
one hundred percent. And speaking of internet, because that's how
you'll of course download your your new books and other content,
I know you've got a solution for high speed Wi Fi.

Speaker 8 (20:59):
For outside, which is different for me. I love this,
Like take Wi Fi out into the backyard people like
really get good solid connectivity for a variety of different uses.
So we're talking about the EO Outdoor seven. That's Ero
Outdoor seven, and it's actually built for extreme weather too.
So if you live in a hot environment or lots
of rain, thunderstorms, things of that nature, you put this outside.

(21:22):
It can handle it and it will give you Wi
Fi seven speeds up to fifteen thousand square feet. So
maybe you have security cameras that you would like to
put at the edge of your property, or maybe you
just want to have better connectivity outside so you could
stream sports or play DJ for the summer cookout, whatever
it may be. Now you can have better Wi Fi
out in your yard and stream some of your favorite stuff.

(21:45):
Maybe you want to even connect your Wi Fi grill.
I don't know, like you can do the whole thing
now because it's enabling you to do it, So the
sky's a limit.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
I do love my Trager Smoker that has Wi Fi.
So yeah, that's that's awesome, Mario and I alluded to
earlier and reading on the colorsoft the Kindle. But I
know you've got a couple of other ideas for kids
this summer.

Speaker 8 (22:06):
I do one that's like super tactile, and then another
one that's like perfect for like the timing right now,
because if you know kids like we know kids like
they love Stitch and so Amazon has put out their
fire HD ten Kids Pro tablet, the Disney Stitch Edition,
So that one's now available for pre order, and it's

(22:26):
just in time for Stitch Day, which happens on June
twenty six. So it is designed for ages six to twelve.
I did not know there was a Stitch Day until recently, but.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
I did find out. I was like, this is incredible.

Speaker 8 (22:38):
It has a protective case around it, which is awesome.
Parental controls Amazon Kids Plus subscription to access the books,
games and shows and things of that nature. My favorite
feature though, is probably that it's a thirteen hour battery life.
You will not have to worry about the kids saying
are we there yet for those road trips. But if
they want to do something also hands on, then I

(22:58):
would suggest checking out Lego City F one Garage and
Mercedes AMG and Alpine Car Set. Now, this is a
really expansive car set. It's an immersive garage. It features
realistic like launch bays where the cars pull into and
get worked on. There's realistic tools in there, two iconic
Formula one race cars.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Mark This thing has six hundred and.

Speaker 8 (23:21):
Seventy eight pieces, so it's not some small thing like
I have it here on set with me, and I
can see like six different action figures like little people
that I can move to put around and fix the cars,
the cars I can play with. And it's just really
cool too because it's foldable. So this whole garage, can
pack up and it's got a little handle on it,

(23:41):
so it's great to carry with you. So this is
really good for kids ages seven and up, or perfect
for those kids that are into racing or want something
creative to build this summer.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
And you were talking about battery life earlier with the
fire tablet and the kindle.

Speaker 3 (23:56):
Lego is unlimited.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
Battery like that, you never have to worry about battery life.
The only thing that's going to maybe run out of
your imagination. Fat I'm a big fan of Lego. That's awesome,
big fan.

Speaker 8 (24:07):
I don't know if you saw that recently, but they
did ten life size Lego Formula One cars at the
Miami Grand Prix. This was like maybe a little of
a month ago. I think they were actually drivable and
they took like four hundred thousand Lego bricks to make.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
That's awesome.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
We are chatting with digital lifestyle expert Mario Armstrong. He's
here to share some great gadget and gear ideas for
the summer for the whole family. In fact, and you
talked about having that Lego car set on the TV
set with you today. So we're going to plug a
website in a moment for those listening, we'd like to
see that in action as well. But let's end off
on something that you can enjoy indoors. Let's say it's

(24:46):
hot and you want a little reprieve from the summer.

Speaker 3 (24:49):
You've got a new streaming TV solution. I believe, I do,
I do.

Speaker 8 (24:53):
I got two ideas really quick for that, and it's
great for summer entertainment. Blockbusters are coming out and streaming
as well as sports. So the twenty twenty five Roku
Plus Series TV is brand new and it's really great.
It's got premium features like Mini LED backlighting, it's q
LED color Smart Picture Max, It's got deeper blacks, lifelike contrasts,

(25:15):
better audio.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
I love that it has a built in subwaffer, which
is really nice.

Speaker 8 (25:19):
But if you have a regular screen around your house
and you just want to have more access to more
channels or to the Roku platform, then I would recommend
the Roku Streaming Stick Plus. I have this in a
few TVs in my house. Fits neatly right behind your TV.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
Welcome back to check it out once in a while.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
On this program, we explore the uncomfortable topic of death,
even though it is the one thing that each and
every one of us will experience around us and when
our time is up, something our family and friends will
need to process as well. So today we're going to
learn about a platform called Eternal Applications let you leave

(27:00):
messages for loved ones after you're gone from this earth,
and not just immediately after your passing, but for any
of life's major events like birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and other milestones.
We are joined on the line by Chris Jalbert, founder
of Eternal Applications.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Hi, Chris, thanks for joining us today.

Speaker 9 (27:18):
Thank you so much for having me.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
Why don't we jump right in? What is Eternal Applications
all about?

Speaker 1 (27:24):
So?

Speaker 9 (27:24):
Eternal Applications is a platform where users can create written,
text or audio messages to be delivered to their loved
ones after their passing, and it can be based on
various events, so it can be for directly after your passing,
it could be for a birthday and anniversary, a holiday,
really any milestone which you may may otherwise want to
be present for and to really broadcast your legacy, whether

(27:48):
it be love or specific memories or wisdom or anything
that you would want your loved one to carry with
when you're no longer presently there. As you can imagine,
it's also a deeply meaningful experience for the person receiving
that message. You know, it's often moments where you would
wish that person's presence where they're arguably more than any
other time in your life. We're excited to really present

(28:11):
to the world this application that can allow you to
do just that.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
So you mentioned that it could be text, it could
be audio, or it could be video. What is the
delivery mechanism? Is it an email?

Speaker 9 (28:22):
Yep, So the delivery mechanism is an email. It has
an encrypted link which will actually send you to a
page on our site which contains the specific message. And
really we of course we had the option of going
with either. We could go text messages, we could go
go email. We found that email was just a bit
more appropriate for the nature of these messages, sure, and

(28:44):
it allows users to really assess them when they're ready
to view the message. We understand that it can be
somewhat of a heavy thing to receive, so we certainly
wouldn't want someone to accidentally click like on a link
that's embedded in a text message, just on accident and
not be ready for the moment.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
Fair enough.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
So, I've heard of services like this over the years,
and I've always been intrigued by the concept. I guess
just because you know we all face our mortality. I guess,
can you walk us through how it works from start
to finish?

Speaker 4 (29:14):
Sure?

Speaker 9 (29:14):
So the process is actually extraordinarily simple. The first thing
you do is go to our website Eternal Applications dot com,
and you you first just create an account. The reason
you create an account so you can come back to
it many years down the line if you want to
update content, update the content of your message. You know
where where the people will come and go in your life,
Your reflections and your stories and your wisdom will change

(29:36):
as the years progress. So by creating an account, you
have the ability to really edit as often as frequently
as you wish. To create an account, you can look
around the site a little bit, get an idea of
the content you'd like to put into your message, whether
it's it'll be more on the lighthearted side, whether you
want it to be more focused on how much a

(29:57):
certain person meant to you specific story. You can really
customize your message to be a reflection of who you are,
which is great. Once you feel like you're ready, you
can go ahead and purchase one of the three packages,
which really just differentiate on the number of messages that
you have available to you, and from there the process

(30:18):
is very simple. You input the recipient's contact information, which
is really just their email and a backup phone number,
although there are other ways for someone to update the information.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
After the fact.

Speaker 9 (30:30):
You designate the delivery date, which is based off a
certain event which you'd like your message to be delivered.
So again, it could be directly at your passing, which
has no month, day or year information. It could be
for the first birthday after your passing, which will have
month and day information, or it can be for a
fixed date such as a child's twenty first birthday or

(30:52):
grandchild's eighteenth birthday, So you really have a lot of flexibility.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
There, got it.

Speaker 9 (30:57):
After that, you designate your administrator, which is the person
who will actually notify us eternal applications of your passing
and which you only have to do that once. And
then after that it's very simple. You have all the
tools directly in the app to create you create your message,
whether that's dragging and dropping a file, whether that's recording
directly on site or writing out a letter type message.

(31:20):
All of the tools you have are right there at
your disposal and after that you review it, you complete it,
and that's that you can come back at any time
and make changes, or if you want to restart entirely,
you have the ability to do so.

Speaker 3 (31:32):
You already answered this.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
I was assuming that you did need some sort of
digital executor, if you will, an administrator you called it,
so someone that you tell them that they have to
contact eternal applications on your passing to confirm your gone
and it is a one time message. For example, everything's
set to go at that point, so you do have
to assign somebody that task. Otherwise eternal applications wouldn't know

(31:55):
that you're now deceased.

Speaker 9 (31:57):
Yeah, so there are databases out there. There are really
two schools of thought in the space that either you
can have an administrator system or databases. We try to
leverage both, but really we rely mostly on the people
are who are closest to you. And we're also excited
at the fact that your administrator you can give them
just the basic rights to go on the platform and

(32:17):
mark you as deceased, but also it can give them
additional privileges to say, update the contact information of a recipient.
They can update the delivery date if you wish them
to do so, and that allows you to actually schedule
for maybe events that are are yet to be The
day is completely up in the air still, so to

(32:38):
maybe a grandchild's wedding, for example, if the grandchild's three
years old, you really have no insight as to when
that that specific day will occur, but now you have
the ability to allow someone in the future update that.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
I understand or you know. I'm a realist.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
So if you're widow remarries, you may not want to
get an anniversary message every year from your late husband
or what have you. Right, you may want to, you know,
have an executor or an administrator just take you off
that list at that point.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
Yeah, very perfect.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
More with Eternal Applications when we return on check it out.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
Follow Mark Saltzman on Facebook, on Twitter, on Instagram, Listen
to check it out whenever you want.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
If you're just joining us now, we're talking with Chris Shelbert.
He is founder of Eternal Applications. As the name suggests,
the company lets you craft messages for loved ones while
you're still alive, but isn't sent to your family and
friends until after you've left this earth. Chris, I think
some people may find this concept morbid. With that in mind,

(33:47):
who would you say it's for exactly? Do you have
like a target demographic?

Speaker 4 (33:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (33:52):
Sure, And as with all things, there will be many,
many different ways of reading the application. Of course, whenever
you're thinking about death, you have to treat it with respect,
and it is to some degree morbid. But I actually
like to look at the other side of the coin
of that, which is well, in part, how how beautiful
is it and how amazing is it that we have

(34:13):
people that we care so much about in our lives
that we wish to be be there for them even
when we physically can't be. And and the fact that
we won't be here forever is is what somewhat makes
life beautiful to some degree, you really do need life
to have death.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
I like that that was.

Speaker 9 (34:32):
The really the inspiration for the specific app where I
think your question earlier was it was who was this for?
And just a personal use case. My unfortunately, my grandfather
passed during during COVID after many years of dementia and Alzheimer's,
and by the time that he did pass it was
really a shadow of his former self where he recognized

(34:54):
very few people and as so many of us are familiar.

Speaker 4 (34:57):
With the disease.

Speaker 9 (34:58):
You really you are who you previously were. And I
thought to myself, how amazing could it have been had
he created this message ahead of time, so that the
final memory that everyone had of him was of him
while he was still so full of life and so
sharp and funny and all of the things that made
him him.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
Yeah, valid point.

Speaker 9 (35:17):
We also make it very clear to the recipient what
this message is before before they actually click on the link,
So we describe who sent it to you, we say,
we introduce ourselves if they're not familiar, and just so
that no one really accidentally clicks on a link or
opens up a message that they don't wish to view.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
Fair enough, So you did say earlier that if someone's
email addors change by chance, let's say, I don't know,
nobody uses Gmail in twenty years or whatever, that administrator
or digital executor would be able to change it. But
what would happen if eternal applications went under? And you've
already paid money for messages to be sent following your death.

Speaker 9 (35:51):
Sure, so we've certainly a contingency plan for such an event.
I'd say generally, there's always a risk with every business, thankfully,
where we're fortunate to be very well capitalized at the moment.
We actually just a month or so ago finished our
first round of funding, which is exciting.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
Congrats, Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 9 (36:09):
We intend to be here for a long while. But
actually part of that funding was also designated to make
sure that no matter what happens, no matter what business
conditions occur, we actually have funds to keep the site
up and running. And really, at the end of the day,
we created this application because we we and myself and
all the staff here want this want this platform. So

(36:31):
we all have our messages on site, our families have
created their messages, so we were certainly we have a
vested interest.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
Yeah, you're personally motivated to keep it going, got it?
And then finally, how much does it cost and what's
the best website to learn more?

Speaker 9 (36:45):
Yep, So you can find us at Eternal Applications dot com.
And the costs will vary depending on the packages that
you purchase, so it'll span from fifty to one hundred
to one hundred and fifty again depending on how many.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
Messages you purchase.

Speaker 9 (36:57):
You can buy one, three, or ten in the basic
premium or plus respectively, and that gives you a fifty
year delivery window. Each message comes with ten unique recipients.
Typically people leave a personalized message, so it's one message
creator and one recipient, but if you want to make
it more generalized, you can leave it up to ten people.

(37:18):
And also there's permanent editibility, so if you again, if
you want to come back many years down the line
and make a change or an update and edit the
lead a message restart, you have that freedom to do so.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
All right, Eternal Applications dot com, Chris, thank you so
much for this. Thank you so much for having me
so check it out.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
