Speaker 1 (00:00):
You don't need everyone to like you, just the right
ones to believe.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
In you, educate, empower, enable, impact. Thank you for tuning
in to That Will Never Work, an award winning podcast
where we share inspiring information and personal experiences related to
business and the entrepreneurial journey from those who are leaders

(00:28):
in their respective field. Now here's your host, author and
business coach Maurice.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Hey everyone, how are you today? So here is what
I would like to get into for today's episode. When
you show up as your true self, you naturally attract
people who genuinely connect with your message and repel those

(01:04):
who aren't aligned. So when you show up as your
true self, ma reason, what does that mean? What does
that look like? And I'm gonna use it from a
perspective of dating, but I think it goes across any situation.

(01:26):
Is the idea, So you meet someone and you are
on your best behavior, especially from my point of view,
my point of view, if I'm dating someone, I am

(01:47):
going to open up the car door. I'm going to
open up the whatever doors that are available. So whether
it's to the mall, whether to a store, whether it's
to the movies, no matter what the situation is, I'm
more than likely I'm going to open up the door,

(02:07):
and my wife can tell you I do that today,
like I still open up the doors for her, things
like that. And then with that, you're going to become
that individual of hey, you know what, he's such a gentleman.
So for from soon now, for myself, as if you

(02:29):
just heard that is authentically me. I am one to
hold the door open because of that's how I was taught,
and I've noticed how that has giving me a positive
outlook on life. People have treated me differently just for

(02:50):
that small gesture of being me one hundred percent of
the time, because I don't just do that for my wife,
I have done that for other people, and just a
genuine hold the door for a person, for an individual.

(03:10):
Sometimes we're in a position where we may not do that.
Sometimes we may be in a rush, we may show
up as somebody else or something else, and so in
a dating scene that might not be who you are

(03:32):
one hundred percent of the time because your mind is
somewhere else. You're thinking about, hey, what are we going
to order? Or Hey, you know what, I'm not really
that hungry, or I'm upset with you, or whatever it is.
So unfortunately, dating, you show yourself as another person or
an individual. And so even if I am mad at

(03:55):
my wife, I'm upset with her, I will still hold
the door for her, because again, that's just who I
am authentically. And so in this situation, if you're a

(04:17):
speaker of podcast or whatever it is, just try to
show up for yourself. Be authentically you. We don't need
you to be someone else. And what I mean by we,
all of us, any of us. Be who you are.
Speak the way you speak, write the way you write. Now,

(04:42):
of course, if it's totally broken, let's try to correct
that just a little bit right, being broken English or
Spanish or whatever it might be, whatever language you may speak.
And what I mean by broken, it does not form

(05:03):
complete sentences or thoughts or whatever it might be. So
but be authentically you, because it can be a great
turnoff if you're not. And it could be a turnoff
to a point of where someone sees that you are

(05:24):
opening up doors and they really enjoy that, and they
like that, they liked that feeling, they liked being whatever
position they are in that moment, and that's not really
who you are. You've taken some of that away of
allowing them to be authentically who they are. So in

(05:46):
my wife's case, authentically being the as she calls herself,
the passenger princess. So open up the door, close the door.
It's very rare that she has to touch a handle.
It's rare she does it, though, because sometimes she's moving

(06:08):
faster than I am, and she will open up the
door on her own. She doesn't always just stand there
and just wait for me. Sometimes she may, but not
all the time. There are times, even when you know,
we get the the groceries and she's trying to carry

(06:30):
two or three bags, I'm like, hey, I can take it.
But no, no, no, no, no, no, I got it.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
I got it.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
I got it. Because some of that you have to
show your independence and who you really are, even in
that moment. But and I'm using that the dating situation,
because we can appear to be somebody that we might
have seen somewhere else. So in podcasting or speaking or whatever,

(06:55):
or even business, when we are trying to be someone
else because a lot of times I've heard of being duplicatable, right,
someone be somebody else, be something else, or whatever it is.
But here is a challenge, and here's why it matters
to be authentically yourself more, especially when you're trying to

(07:19):
appeal to the masses. Like I said in a podcasting
speaking perspective, trying to appeal to everyone tends to water
down your voice and or your message. Let's let's let's

(07:40):
let's think about that for a moment. So, trying to
appeal to everyone waters down your voice, right, So, so
what is your message? What are you trying to put
out there? And because you are a lot of you
may may know this individual, Myron Golden. I listen to
them often and sometimes you look at him and you say, hey,

(08:01):
you know what I could do that I can teach
and speak and walk and talk just like him. But
you're not him, And unfortunately, it could order down your
own message if you're trying to portray your message in
that same tone, that voids that brand that he's portraying,
because that's him, that's who he is. But you need

(08:25):
to stay who you are and standing firm and who
you are strengthens your brand and your tribe because you
have shown who you are and in any and all situations,
they know who they're getting and what they're getting and

(08:47):
how to approach you. Because now you're approachable as well.
And if you're standing firm and who you are, that
means that when you go to the next person, you
don't have to remember who you were just two seconds ago.
You don't have to remember how things happened a week ago,

(09:08):
you don't have to remember how things happened a year ago,
because you're standing in who you are and understand this
is who you're presenting to the world, and you could
stand on it all day, every day. So you don't
need to be like everyone else. You don't need everyone

(09:31):
to like you. The key is you just need the
right ones to believe in you so that when you
do become a business owner, so that when you do
become that speaker, when you do become that manager, that CEO,
that chief information officer, the director of finance, when you

(09:56):
become the vice president of operations, whatever the situation is,
if you stay uniquely you, all it does is strengthens
your brand and your tribe those individuals that are supporting
you all the way. I think very much for listening today.
