  • We love God when we realize that he deserves our commitment / obedience.
    • Once God has our love, he will also have our service.

Genesis 11:1–32

Main idea: Apart from God, the effort of man leads to calamity. 


Man sought to glorify himself (11:1–4).


God protected man from himself (11:5-9).


God extended man’s opportunity to return to him (11:10-32).

Genesis: Salvation and Its Recipient
Genesis 6:9–10:32

Main idea: God gives salvation to the obedient. 


Obedience separates believers from an unbelieving world (6:9–22).


Salvation is a result of God’s initiative (6:18, 7:1, 8:1, 9:8-17).


Obedience identifies believers with Christ (6:18, 7:1, 9:9, 9:12).

Genesis: Sin and Its Remedy
Genesis 3:1-24

Main idea: God secured victory over sin. 

Temptation turns to sin (3:1–7). 

Sin disrupts the relationship between God and man (3:8–10). 

Correction leads to shame and evasion (3:11–13).
