Main idea: We must follow the Jesus that is revealed through Scripture.


Jesus gives us what we need (Matt. 6:31-33). Fallacy: “My Jesus gives me everything that I want.”

Who Do You Think You Are?
Ephesians 1:3–14, 2:1–10

Main idea: God created you in his likeness, for his glory. 


I am a reflection of the divine image of God Almighty (Eph. 2:10; Gen. 1:26–28).


I am beloved by God, known and embraced fully (Ephesians 1:3-14).


I am brought from death to life by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:1-9).

Indicatives & Imperatives
Ephesians 1:1-6:24

Main idea: We live in grateful obedience for what God has done. 

Indicatives declare what God has done for us (Ex. 20:1–2, Ps. 105:1–44, Eph. 1:1–13; 2:4–10, 13; 3:14–21). 

Imperatives command how we should live in response (Ex. 20:3-17, Ps. 105:45, Eph. 4:1–3, 17, 25; 5:1–2, 6–7, 15–17; 6:10-20). 

Living in obedience is a response to what God has done for us.

Genesis 42:1-45:15

Main idea: Forgiveness reflects the character of God. 

We are all in a unique position to show someone forgiveness (42:1-26). 

It is impossible to truly forgive someone you do not love (45:4–8). 

Those who have hurt us still deserve our care (45:9–15).

Genesis 41:37-57

Main idea: God has expectations for those in authority. 

Authority is given to those who reflect God’s character (41:37-45). 

Those in authority have a duty for those whom they lead (41:46-49). 

Those is authority bless and are blessed by their obedience (41:50-52). 

Those in authority demonstrate faithfulness through hardship (41:53-57).

Main idea: God has given us purpose in times of hardship.

Main idea: We must flee from temptation. 


We must run from temptation because giving in to sin…

Main idea: Trusting in God requires full faith and surety. 


We must serve where we are (39:1-6).


We must suffer with faithful expectation (39:21-23).
