Preparing students to demonstrate mastery of math state standards can
feel like a dull, unending cycle of equations and practice problems. Unengaged,
frustrated students can weigh on teacher confidence and lead to
uncertainty about overall achievement. Two Ivy League trained engineers observed
this struggle and created a way to transform how students

(02:11):
learn the fundamentals of math. Through the Innovative Acletics Math Program,
EDA has helped more than four hundred thousand students achieve
success on state administered math tests and transformed the academic
strategies and performance of schools nationwide. Acoletics uniquely designed supplemental
materials and tools are well aligned to your state standards

(02:33):
and provide a clear path to exceed state proficiency standards.
Through ongoing professional development, you will uncover common challenges and
activate solutions that promise to improve student achievement in your school.
By partnering with EDA and choosing Acoletics, you can start
to see an unprecedented return on your investment and as
little as one school year. Don't procrastinate on giving your

Guys an apology.

Speaker 8 (04:45):
I was on Friday, I was going I was type
doing some emails, and I saw the email I was
supposed to send to you in my draft.

Speaker 6 (04:57):
You're busy. You're conquering the world with your trivia.

Speaker 7 (05:00):
Trying to that a music bingo. So I got two
things going on.

Speaker 6 (05:03):
A lit bingo.

Speaker 8 (05:04):
Yes, Sir Bingo with the beat had had a nice
event on Sunday, went very well, my first one.

Speaker 7 (05:11):
I've been doing it at a couple of different spots.

Speaker 8 (05:13):
I've incorporated in my with the with the Black Trivia
as well.

Speaker 9 (05:18):
So it was funny because when we were on vacation
this year, we played music bingo and one of the
questions was like, I mean one of the categories, what
was that?

Speaker 7 (05:28):
The one?

Speaker 2 (05:28):
And Carl we were.

Speaker 9 (05:30):
Killing it because we were one of the only little
brown families in the joint.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
And we were like, yeap, earth Wind and Fire for twenty.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Right, that is so much fun.

Speaker 7 (05:41):
Okay, So you know, so you know the original name
of earth Wind and Fire.

Speaker 6 (05:45):
Uh uh no, oh, I guess the name Baby bragged.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
On us.

Speaker 7 (05:54):
Just Salty Peppers.

Speaker 6 (05:56):
Oh no, that was Salty Peppers.

Speaker 7 (05:59):
Maurice Maurice White had the name.

Speaker 8 (06:00):
Their name was the Salty Peppers, and then they changed
the name in regards to his zodiac and he got
more into the that mystical type of stuff.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
Yeah, now I got one for you. Do you know what?
What producer produced a few of their biggest hits. Uh
skip Scarborough, Skip Scarborough. But this producer is probably more
known in the general market. Oh, hmmm, Quincy that Clive Davis.
Good guess Quincy David Foster.

Speaker 7 (06:30):
Oh really yeah?

Speaker 5 (06:32):
I think David Foster produced September. We produced a lot
of the big, the mega hits. When you think about it,
you can hear you know, he also produced Chicago. Listened
to Chicago Music and the Horns and Earth on the Fire.
You're kind of like, oh, wow, they could have been
some you.

Speaker 7 (06:46):
Know, well they've toured together.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
Yeah, because September.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
Actually you could hear Chicago doing September if you think
about Peter's the terrib But anyway, I digress.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
He's coming for your job.

Speaker 7 (06:58):
I think I think the man is busy enough. Congrats
on a new.

Speaker 6 (07:01):
Gig, you much, sir. Appreciated A problem, A problem?

Speaker 7 (07:05):
All right, We're going to start something with a little
bit different something. I was like, oh, I haven't touched
on this subject. Comic a comic strip.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
Comic strips. I'm curious, Alison, you're a comic strip person, different.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Kind of comics like Archie.

Speaker 5 (07:19):
Yeah, so this is this is that kind of this
is that, this is that, That's what we were.

Speaker 6 (07:25):
The comic strips were the comic strips, but this.

Speaker 8 (07:27):
One is what was the name of the first syndicated
comic strip with an integrated cast of characters.

Speaker 7 (07:34):
It was created by Morey Turner. So I'm not even
gonna make it. Have you guess who created it? Was
it called Mic and Friends, We Pals or the Rascals?

Speaker 2 (07:47):
I don't, I don't have it.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
I think it's we Pals.

Speaker 7 (07:50):
Very good, it is we Piles. It is we Pals.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
That's powerful that you know what you know why that's powerful.

Speaker 9 (07:57):
It's just putting it out there and then sort of
normalizing diversity.

Speaker 6 (08:02):
Yeah you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Yeah, So that's that's that's.

Speaker 7 (08:05):
A powerful cooler And sure, I think I can't. I
got to look it up. I don't know if it
was before.

Speaker 8 (08:09):
I'm most sure it was after or Franklin was introduced
after this came out.

Speaker 7 (08:14):
Franklin was introduced in Charlie Brown.

Speaker 6 (08:17):
Wow. Yeah, that and that he got hate mail because
of that.

Speaker 8 (08:21):
Yeah, but he he said, if you change it, I
won't do it anymore.

Speaker 7 (08:25):
So stuck to his guns.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Yep.

Speaker 8 (08:28):
But actually it debuted in nineteen sixty five and it
ended in twenty fourteen.

Speaker 5 (08:32):
We Pounds Wow, Wow, Yeah, I don't know. It's interesting.
Now have you ever seen we pounds.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
No, but I'm familiar with the name.

Speaker 6 (08:41):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was.

Speaker 8 (08:43):
I remember it because that one little guy who always
was had a military He is a militant.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
I gotta look at that reposds.

Speaker 7 (08:54):
Next up, a little bit sports. We're going into October.

Speaker 6 (08:58):
So bye.

Speaker 8 (09:00):
Watson became the first black major league general manager to
win a World Series while running What team was got?
The New York Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays or the
LA Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Again, I defer to you, that's.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
A tough one. I'm gonna say it's between Toronto and La.
I'm gonna have to say Toronto.

Speaker 7 (09:23):
It is actually New York.

Speaker 6 (09:25):
Oh the hatstankies New York. Okay, that's shocking to me.

Speaker 7 (09:31):
It was in nineteen nineteen ninety six. I think it was.
Let me check again, but.

Speaker 8 (09:38):
Yeah, he was the general man. Nineteen ninety six, he
was the general manager.

Speaker 6 (09:43):
And I'm amazed.

Speaker 7 (09:47):
Oh wow, I skipped. Oh. I copied the same question twice.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
Today.

Speaker 7 (09:56):
I only have two for you.

Speaker 8 (09:57):
Sorry, there's one of those days. But you did learn
that the Salty Peppers is where earth Wind the Fire
was original.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
God, thank god they didn't come out as a Salty peppers.

Speaker 8 (10:09):
But okay, here's here's a follow up to that. What
movie debuted Earth Wind and Fire on their soundtrack.

Speaker 7 (10:18):
And I'll give you a cup. Was it Chad Sweet
Sweetbacks badass song?

Speaker 8 (10:24):
Or the watermelon many years?

Speaker 2 (10:31):
I'll say, I'll we just talked about the watermelon. I'll
say the watermelon mane.

Speaker 6 (10:36):
Sweep back, sweet back, sweet back is sweet back?

Speaker 7 (10:41):
Uh sweet sweet back.

Speaker 8 (10:41):
And in fact, before he passed away, Morris Warri's White
was joking about the fact that that check is still bouncing.

Speaker 6 (10:47):
Oh damn. Yeah. Yeah, that one didn't make much money
as the others.

Speaker 8 (10:56):
Well, the movie did very well because that was one
of the first blackspots movie, so we had never seen
anybody on screen going up against the man at that time.

Speaker 7 (11:05):
We're talking nineteen seventy one, I think.

Speaker 6 (11:08):
Or New or nuone women Breast on black rest on
TV to.

Speaker 8 (11:12):
Yeah that and yeah, and his secret weapon of choice
when he had to battle.

Speaker 7 (11:19):
I can't say that on the air.

Speaker 6 (11:21):
That's right. We've run a tight show here, Carl.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Those are fun, Carl, Carl, are.

Speaker 6 (11:27):
You tonight tonight?

Speaker 8 (11:29):
I am in Owen, I mean Arundel Mills TGI Fridays.
I'll be there at seven till about seven to nine.
I loved then back at it at hooking real. I
got to hope, make a whole little commercial for you
like your opening has.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
Yeah, so Carl asked, asked to ask either one if
we could do it live from there one night.

Speaker 7 (11:47):
Definitely, Okay, I'll check with both of them.

Speaker 5 (11:49):
You know, we'll do and pack it up and do
it from there and then segue right into your game.

Speaker 6 (11:54):
Alon have to wrap it up because she has to
get back on this side.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
But a boy, that time you get home by eight days. Yeah,
you know, all right, Carl, Appreciate you, my friend.

Speaker 7 (12:03):
Appreciate you. Guys. Have a great day.

Speaker 6 (12:05):
Thank Carl with the K, Carl with the K in
the frenny babesil.

Speaker 5 (12:08):
Now this feels like a normal I think streaming was
when we first started, it probably seemed like so new
and that then it feel like it's like a thing.

Speaker 6 (12:16):
Now so many people are streaming now, so mean I'm.

Speaker 9 (12:19):
Telling you we for the company that my parent company.
We have a new boss. Congratulation, thank you. And yeah
he came in and did the tour with the stations.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
What is this cutting off? I wonder weird tour with
the stations, and that's what he was talking about.

Speaker 9 (12:37):
He goes, he says, you guys know how to do
you know how to do TV.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
You're a do TV. Guess what's next? It's streaming.

Speaker 9 (12:44):
And when you think about it, it is so true
like with our with the smart TVs and the Roku
TVs and all that.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
Yeah, all it is is these apps.

Speaker 9 (12:52):
So the goal is to get your app on these
streaming platforms.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
And that's it. That's where it is.

Speaker 9 (12:58):
So I think we're on the on the verge of
like a new form of communication.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Which is exciting.

Speaker 9 (13:04):
Yeah, it's here like our parents were, Like my mom
used to talk about listening to the old time radio
and then it changed to TV.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
We're on the verge of that.

Speaker 6 (13:12):
So yeah, I was trying to watch.

Speaker 5 (13:14):
I was trying to watch us on a shout out
to those who are on Instagram. Okay, so we got
four on Instagram. I just wanted to say hello, I
can't for some reason, I can't get it on my phone, guys,
So what's up Instagram?

Speaker 6 (13:28):
I'm just going to say what's up right now because.

Speaker 9 (13:32):
We have to in the days that are not Wednesday,
we have to really work on connectivity because my people
on my Facebook.

Speaker 6 (13:38):
Page there, so what happened? What happened?

Speaker 2 (13:41):
It's hard for me to share it. So let's see there.

Speaker 6 (13:45):
Okay, there it is.

Speaker 9 (13:46):
Yeah, but that's on this website. It's on my it's
not on my Allison al TV.

Speaker 6 (13:53):
So you copied it.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
It's not on there.

Speaker 5 (13:57):
It's okay, No, I'm saying, so copy it and then
switching and put it on there.

Speaker 9 (14:01):
Okay, wait, wit, wait, I don't think that we want
to wait.

Speaker 6 (14:08):
It's okay.

Speaker 5 (14:08):
I can help out. I got a story to tell.
Anyway you can. I'm telling the story. Go ahead, you
can focus on that. I'll talk about the story. So
with the with the uh, I do it, then.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
You're gonna do it and tell the story.

Speaker 6 (14:19):
Yeah, I tell the story.

Speaker 5 (14:21):
So with the advent of not advent? What's going on?
With what's going on with Diddy? We call him Diddy?
I thought about a story, but I think I told
you this before. I don't know if I said this
on air before?

Speaker 6 (14:34):
Was that?

Speaker 5 (14:35):
So I went to a conference I was probably like
twenty my first first year out of college, and and god,
you always call me the luckiest guy in the world. Yes,
that's you're it's like a joke, but you're serious. Yes,
And what I'm lucky. I think the things that I've
been lucky about is of course meeting this amazing woman
and marrying her and having these beautiful kids, healthy kids,

(14:58):
and having his career. But all so, what do they say,
God protects babies and fools something like that. Yes, because
so first conference in La so we talk about Diddy
and we talk about the inappropriateness of the industry. I
just wanted to point out that it's the industry, you

(15:19):
know what I mean, not a TV's got this thing,
but radio and Records, which Radio on Records was a
trade magazine. Radio and Records is a long time been
known to be wow wow maybe the wild wild West, right,
And so it's not shocking. That's why people hear people
say now, people say, why do people just stand by

(15:41):
and let this happen? Not say nothing, Because it's a
part of the industry and has been just like Hollywood forever.
And when people are doing dirt and doing wild stuff
and doing drugs and sex and rock and roll, nobody's
really talking about it. So you know, I mean, you
go to a party and in the back, they're doing
some craziness. Nobody ever comes out and tells the world, Hey,

(16:01):
you know what, I went to this party at Puffy's
house and I didn't stay, but in the back I
saw some craziness and talk about it.

Speaker 6 (16:07):
You just didn't you know.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
It was like so when I look back on it,
Russell Simmons was a madman when he was at death Jam.

Speaker 6 (16:17):
I'm talking about.

Speaker 5 (16:18):
This is the eighties and nineties. I'm in my twenties
when I say madman. The goal is to get your
records played. So everybody that worked for Russell Simmons, what
you did not want to do is tell him that
so and so stationed and so and so city is
not on the new record you want played because he's
gonna cuss you out, He's gonna yell at you. It

(16:39):
was a part of it, right and also that was
a part of the business. So this story I'm telling
you is I'm in Huntsville, Alabama, and I'm going to
my first conference, my first big conference.

Speaker 6 (16:53):
This is conference is in Los Angeles.

Speaker 5 (16:56):
First time that I've been to Los Angeles since I
met my father when i was eight years old. So
I'm coming out there Babe, I'm at this small am station.

Speaker 6 (17:04):
Now.

Speaker 5 (17:04):
The first thing that was funny was this young lady
that worked at Radioscope who was you know, she's in
the business. She knows all the stars. We talk every
week because Radioscope is one of the shows that we
play all the time. And so I'm coming out there, babe,
and I don't have no money, Okay, I don't have
much money. And how it works was the record companies

(17:28):
had paid for my room and they had paid for
my airfare, which some say is that Paola. Ah, it
could be. They paid for it, but they didn't ask
me to do anything. They just took care of it.

Speaker 6 (17:45):
Right.

Speaker 5 (17:46):
So I arrived. Now where did I find out? When
I arrived, Babe? That my radio station was over? So
the record companies and the people that paid for it,
my whole situation.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
They gained nothing because you can't.

Speaker 6 (18:01):
They gained nothing.

Speaker 5 (18:02):
So since they gained nothing, I'm pretty much nothing at
this point. So I'm in La. So what happened was
I arrived at LA. I'm in the hotel lobby. Then
I get the news record reps coming in United Station clothes,
Unit station clothes, United station clothes. My people, my people
from the station game a station clothes look cloth. So

(18:23):
I'm just like, like, what am I gonna do? So
this young lady from radio Scope, who was very attractive,
She's like, well, and again I'm twenty one, so now
looking back, I'm a kid.

Speaker 6 (18:33):
I really am a kid.

Speaker 5 (18:35):
But you know, so I'm like, so it's the fine
lady from Radioscopes like, Mark, you can stay with me?

Speaker 6 (18:41):
What I can stay with you? Now?

Speaker 5 (18:43):
You know, so you know how guys are like, Okay,
I can stay. She's saying I can stay with her
like she likes me, or she's saying he stay with
because so anyway, stay with her, go to a place,
puts me on the couch, right, so puts me on
the couch.

Speaker 6 (18:57):
And then so now at.

Speaker 5 (19:00):
The conference, walking around the conference, not staying at the
hotel and not really I'm not getting pay for the conference.

Speaker 6 (19:06):
I'm just at the conference.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
In the in the bar area, I'm noticing I'm just
hanging out all day. I'm noticing these women who are
scantily clad at the bar. I've never witnessed the prostitute before.
I don't know nothing about the game. I don't know
nothing about the small Town, America. I don't know about
the game. So ironically I run into mc hammer's brother

(19:32):
Louis Barrell, who I was one of the lbmer I
was one of the early supporters of Lewis, of Louis Barrell.
In fact, I was one of the you know, the
last conference I went to, which was in Atlanta, we
hung out and nobody was hanging out with them. So
they was hanging out with the little guy from who
worked at the small station in Alabama. Because nobody else's

(19:54):
list cares about them. He knows the story and so
that's right. Montros is my college friend. So I see
him and Louis Barrell. Now, now, the last time I
saw Louis Barell mc hammer didn't have any hits and
he was nobody. This time he was the man getting
ready to tour Japan. So now Louis Barell got on

(20:16):
some uh the glasses where the glasses gazell go ahead, baby,
you know, had the gazelles on, had the Jerry Curle
wet to death. Jerry Curle went him and his man,
both of them. Jerry Curl's activated. He sees me, He's
like this, what's up, brother, what's up you? Put something
in my hand. Baby, I'm broke and not even at
the conference. Here you go, what is it?

Speaker 6 (20:39):
It was a it was a knot. It was a knot.
I was like, hand, maybe I was so nervous because
this is he said.

Speaker 5 (20:51):
He said, thanks, Bro, I just want to thank you
for all you've done. Man, Thank you Bro. I was like, so,
I finally I got to a.

Speaker 6 (20:58):
Space with two, three, four, five, six, seven eight nine. Baby,
this is nine. I'm twenty one. So have I ever
seen five hundred dollars in my life? My check every
two weeks in hospital was four hundred dollars. I was like,
I'm rich, be rich, Yeah, I'm rich.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
So so now it's it's about five in the afternoon
and they make the announcement the bus is leaving.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Where's it going?

Speaker 6 (21:29):
I have no idea.

Speaker 5 (21:31):
Everybody else has been hanging out drinking and mingling with
those fine stantonly clad women in the bar that I
just start. Boy, they're not dressed up at all. The
boves are hanging out and everything, Babe the bus. When
the bus goes, the bus leaves, they're like everybody's like

(21:52):
huh up. And you know me, I'm like, what, what,
Where's the bus going. I'm trying to find babe. Hey,
where's the bus going. Where's the bus going? So the
boy the bus was going to there was a mansion
in the hills with all the drink, all the coke,
and all the prostitute you could ever want in your life.
So I tell my story because I was, like you said,

(22:15):
I did not get on the bus.

Speaker 6 (22:16):
I missed the bus.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
I did not get the coke, I did not get
the honeyes, I did not get the alcohol. And I
did not get any drama the company. Because again that's
the thing about the Diddy parties. This is a part
of it. So did you know back then it was
so and so and then it became ditty, you know
what I mean, there's always a guy in entertainment who.

Speaker 6 (22:37):
Threw those parties that who knows what is that? A donkey?
I mean, so much going on. This is not something.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
This is not Diddy like, you know, just like Epstein
and all those these things go on. This is a
part of it, sadly, and so when it gets exposed,
it gets blown up because people are like because regular
nine to fibers.

Speaker 6 (22:55):
That's not usually their lifestyle.

Speaker 9 (22:57):
Right.

Speaker 5 (22:57):
I was just talking to their friend the other day,
and I was asked when I was we had a
you know, when I worked in Saint Louis, there were
DJs who were in their sixties moving towards their seventies,
who were still on a Friday night having sex with
people in the car outside on the trunk of their
car and drinking and stuff. And I was just like
asking my friend the sixties in their sixties and moving

(23:18):
to the seventies. Hey no, but uh yeah, I mean
so you're like, damn, what is going on? But that
that was the industry. So the bitty stuff. Every day,
more stuff comes out. It's it's terrible, It's terrible, terrible, terrible,
But sadly it is a part of the industry and
has been forever.

Speaker 9 (23:38):
If you choose to make it, or you can be
like Mark Clark and you don't get on the ball.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
Well and with a blessing, because again I could have
got who knows I could have got turned out of
the mansion, drugs coke. You know, somebody, a kid like
me who never was exposed to any of this. Now
I'm now I'm a program director. So the record company's
gonna give me whatever I want, even and that's the
thing people understand.

Speaker 6 (23:58):
Even though it was Huntsville, Alabama, it was a record.

Speaker 5 (24:02):
I've reported to record, I reported to magazines that it
was value there, you know what I mean.

Speaker 6 (24:07):
And as I look at that, I'm fifty eight years old.

Speaker 5 (24:09):
When I look around, Babe, I see guys in our
industry dropping like flies.

Speaker 6 (24:14):
Why. A lot of them had coke habits. A lot
of them are hard drinkers.

Speaker 5 (24:17):
So now you're getting near sixty, had high blood pressure,
like I mentioned the guys in Saint Louis high blood pressure,
pre diabetes, diabetic, and then drop dead heart attack boom.
Why because a lifestyle is a lifestyle.

Speaker 9 (24:31):
Latest on Diddy, just to wrap this up is uh.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
More than one hundred people. This is Forbes magazine.

Speaker 9 (24:39):
More than one hundred people could accuse him of sexual
abuse and new lawsuits.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
Including a nine year old including the case of a
nine year old nine year old kid.

Speaker 9 (24:48):
Nine year old kids, So you know it might happen,
But brother, I feel like you're going down for this.
And Wendy Williams, I don't know her state, like what
she's doing she's at right now. But he came out
a lot of people were like, yeah, Wendy was right.
Wendy he osen zone an apology. She came out and
just said it's about time. So yeah, all right, uh

(25:11):
uh man, news is happening fast, lots of losing people.
Uh America's Dad the death yead.

Speaker 5 (25:20):
I have actually had a video for that's talk. I
fell asleep on you last night on the on the debate,
Did you watch it?

Speaker 9 (25:28):
I watched a great deal of the debate, and my
thoughts were basically I was ready for because everything has
been so wacky, you know, all the they're eating the
pets and all this and the cat lady comments from that,
it's kind of morphed into this cartoonish thing with jd.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
Vance. I, to be honest, I felt like his debate
he's a lawyer.

Speaker 9 (25:51):
His debate performance, I felt like, was more fluid than
I expected it to be, and just on paper.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
I was actually surprised that.

Speaker 9 (26:01):
Governor Walls polled as high as he did because it
seemed like, you know, it's almost like you take a guy,
you know, who's this like down to earth sort of
governor from a you know, a huge state. He's a governor,
This guy is no Brookie in politics, but just seemed
like wasn't necessarily as fluid.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
But what I liked is that a lot of it
was very civil.

Speaker 9 (26:23):
There were times when they you know, I actually agree
with you on this, and I actually agree with you
on this.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
I felt like there was.

Speaker 9 (26:29):
A stumble because apparently Governor Wallas had said that he
was either witnessed what happened in Tanneman Square all those
years ago, but he actually wasn't necessarily there, so he
had to walk those comments back, which always make you
look a little bit like whatever. But an interesting Malcolm
Gladwell came out years ago with Revisionist History. I recommend

(26:50):
this podcast highly, where it's called this memory.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
Your brain fills in these events.

Speaker 9 (26:55):
So in his mind, perhaps he really thought he was there,
although he was in wherever he was in Hong Kong
or wherever. But in his mind, I was there at
the same time, and now I'm there seeing this happen
in Tanneman Square.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
So anyway I.

Speaker 6 (27:10):
Thought he got I thought, well, I thought.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
I think he got momentum.

Speaker 9 (27:13):
Later, I think at first, it's scary, like you're up
there is you know, you're you know you're in this
national stage. You know how high the stakes are, You're
the second you'll be the second in command and.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
You know your bosses.

Speaker 9 (27:24):
All I can imagine was Trump and uh and Harris
at home, like, do not mess this up, you know
what I mean. So it's a lot of pressure. But
I thought it was a very civil debate and.

Speaker 5 (27:35):
I thought he stayed on brand. I didn't have a
problem because I think he stayed on brand. He was
who he thought he was. He had that one mess up,
but he also your man, who was definitely more you know,
more savvy, but you're more savvy trying to defend some bs.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
So yeah, and definitely they did some fact and.

Speaker 6 (27:52):
Exactly when he asked about this.

Speaker 5 (27:54):
Okay, so let me ask you about you know, do
you really think he do you really think he won?

Speaker 6 (27:58):
Get an answered?

Speaker 2 (27:58):
Yeah, he couldn't.

Speaker 3 (27:59):
Right.

Speaker 9 (27:59):
So so those are the things you know, when you're voting,
to really pay attention to because you're right, in a
nice slick package, what is.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
It, we're not you know, nobody's telling me how to vote.
You do what you want to do.

Speaker 6 (28:09):
But you call he called Trump hitler, so.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
Right, that's crazy to walk back those statements. Yea, in
his way.

Speaker 5 (28:16):
So yeah, then also you realize, like you said, it
is the vice presidency, so I mean he did better
than his boss.

Speaker 6 (28:22):
So for him. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (28:25):
So because what they're saying though, is like, be clear,
when you vote for the ticket, you're also voting for
When you vote for uh Trump in this case, you're
also voting for JD.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
Vance. And I think that what I'm saying is I
think a lot.

Speaker 9 (28:40):
Of people who might have been like, like I remember
Trump saying, oh, they're not calling me where they're calling JD.
Where they're not calling me where. So you know he
was he looked pretty uh, you know whatever.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
But so we'll see.

Speaker 9 (28:54):
It's like only thirty something days until the election, So
are you registered?

Speaker 5 (28:58):
Is it really that Wait a minute. I'm excited because
I think our girls are excited about actually voting this time.
I think this is the most excitement I've felt from them.
You know, they have issues, they have things they want.

Speaker 6 (29:13):
To fight for.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
So election day is a just say no.

Speaker 5 (29:17):
And I'm glad to see that they are, you know,
getting involved, because that's the thing. Sometimes there's a lot
of young people who are not oh yeah, you know
and and almost you know that that kind of conversation
where I don't do it because I don't think it
works or or this and that, and it's like, but
you know, hey, I can't be mad because I was

(29:38):
one of those people at one point.

Speaker 6 (29:40):
If I'm honest, I've.

Speaker 9 (29:42):
Been watching My Guilt, My Guilty Pleasure. We've been binging
the Menendez Brothers on Netflix. I really wish it was
connected to to my people so I can see what
people are talking about.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
As far as as far as you're talking, I don't
want to do we can. We can make it for
next week. They because I don't want to. I gotta
go to all d Yeah.

Speaker 9 (30:08):
So, but but it's interesting now, so the Menendez brothers
and taking a look people have the Menandez brothers do
not like this portrayal because they're you know, some sensational
aspects to it.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
But it's interesting. I'm interested to see.

Speaker 9 (30:21):
What happens because it definitely clearly also paints them as
sympathetic characters, although what they did was, of course, very horrifying.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
You're not familiar with the case.

Speaker 9 (30:32):
The Menandez brothers out in Beverly Hills kill their parents,
but the reasons why are very interesting.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
It's not just black and white, right.

Speaker 6 (30:41):
I mean, if you if your parents were less you
than they deserve to die. This is real. I mean
when you say most people feel that way.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
Well you would think so do you think that they're
they're gonna jail for thirty some years? So we knew
twelve people who didn't think so, but they weren't.

Speaker 6 (30:57):
Actually they didn't get it.

Speaker 5 (30:59):
Yeah, it's weird because you know, they didn't get a
fair trial though they're rich.

Speaker 6 (31:06):
But it was like, was that because they're you know
what I mean? It's very interesting. Oh the old j
Simpsons trying damn who you are?

Speaker 2 (31:13):
Okay?

Speaker 5 (31:15):
So and then so baby, actually you have to go.
So you mentioned celebrity deaths.

Speaker 9 (31:20):
Well I want to so first say happy birthday Jimmy Carter,
the oldest. He's the only president to make it to
one hundred years old. Celebrating one hundred years yesterday. He
said he was hanging on for the November election so
that he could cast his ballot.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
Come on, hold on, it's just amazing.

Speaker 9 (31:36):
Like when I think about Jimmy Carter, I really feel
like he was the first president I remember and I
remember I feel like I remember his his commercials on TV.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
But in my mind I played it different. In my mind.

Speaker 9 (31:47):
He said, my name is Jimmy, and I want to
be your president. But I've looked back now and it's actually,
you know, not that way. But I remember he did
say his lore being I'm a farmer painting himself in
a this kind of way. My man was brilliant from
the Naval Academy.

Speaker 5 (32:05):
It was my first impression, by the way, first president,
Is that right, Jim mccardlem Jimmy called my brother Billy.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
That's the first one I remember.

Speaker 9 (32:14):
So a life well served, with habitat for humanity and
uh in love for his wife who preceded him in death.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
So happy birthday, mister president.

Speaker 5 (32:22):
Actress Maggie Smith, we lost her. Chris Christofferson, he lost him.
Broadway actor Gavin Creole.

Speaker 9 (32:31):
Younger than younger than this whole group we're talking about then.

Speaker 5 (32:34):
Of course, like you said, Bill Cosby was America's dad,
John Namis was America's dad. I think John Namis fared better. Also,
let me tell you something. Did you watch Roots when
it was on? Yeah, the original Roots. Let me tell
you something. In that little small house in Springfield, Illinois.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
Did anybody not watch Roots?

Speaker 5 (32:53):
When they pulled that axile to cut his foot off?
Kente's foot and they brought it up. I ran through. Now,
first of all, the house was small. When I say
I ran through the house, it was two rooms. I
was like, no, I ran through the house, babe.

Speaker 6 (33:11):
You remember the.

Speaker 9 (33:12):
Choice they gave him, Yeah, cut off your private part.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
So now why why would you perverted?

Speaker 6 (33:19):
It started back then?

Speaker 5 (33:21):
That's what the hatred and also the kud line.

Speaker 6 (33:25):
Of course, what's that shining on your head? Sun Fred sound?
Remember that?

Speaker 2 (33:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (33:32):
It does? Why wait a minute.

Speaker 5 (33:35):
Joseph Lovelady, Oh my god, Joseph love Lady, childhood friend.

Speaker 6 (33:43):
I don't know what happened.

Speaker 5 (33:44):
Joseph love Lady voted for Trump the first time out.
That's my brother. I love Joe and Joe. So it
got to the point so Joe, I'm curious. I got
to call you to find out what happened. Because it
got to the point where Joe and I had this
great moment friends. I would post something about whoever, and
Joe would be like team Trump Trump, and I was like, look, man,

(34:08):
I don't mind if you if you say team Trump,
but you have to engage. You have to say why.
You have to say, because Joe got offended when I
blocked him, I think, And so we talked about it
and he was like, Okay, I got it and that
was it. So I mean, that's my man there, that's
my man right there. But interesting, Joe, I gotta find
out what's going on. So we said America's dad. Some

(34:29):
say Bill Cosby, some say John Amos. We lost him,
but let's let's remember him.

Speaker 6 (34:33):
Bab. I haven't seen you. I don't think you've seen
one of these scenes.

Speaker 7 (34:36):
I don't give a damn who you are.

Speaker 6 (34:38):
This is America, Jack.

Speaker 10 (34:40):
Now you say one more word about Lisa here, and
I'm gonna break my foot off in your royal ass.

Speaker 6 (34:52):
What is it?

Speaker 7 (34:54):
I was wondering.

Speaker 9 (34:55):
Did you happen to catch the professional football contest on
television last night?

Speaker 1 (35:00):
No?

Speaker 7 (35:00):
I didn't. Oh it was most exhilarating.

Speaker 5 (35:03):
The Giants of New York took on the package of
green Bag and in the end the Giants triumph by kicking.

Speaker 6 (35:09):
An oblong bul me the pigskin to a big age.
He was the most ripping victory.

Speaker 7 (35:16):
Son.

Speaker 6 (35:17):
I'm just gonna tell you this one time.

Speaker 9 (35:19):
Yes, you want to keep working here, stay off the drugs.

Speaker 6 (35:25):
It's bigger's smalls.

Speaker 10 (35:33):
Your mama still working in them ten dollar houses some.

Speaker 7 (35:36):
Other time, some other time.

Speaker 11 (35:40):
On these days, I'm gonna climb all over you take.

Speaker 6 (35:45):
More guts than you got, Biggie. You got to brain
ass to get asked.

Speaker 11 (35:49):
Your colorful not dumb old fashioned and out of style,
but colorful.

Speaker 7 (35:55):
Figure. You out your territory.

Speaker 10 (35:57):
And I don't like it when people come into my
town without paying the respect.

Speaker 11 (36:00):
Well, we no longer consider this town as out of
our territory.

Speaker 7 (36:04):
Watch your mouths, son.

Speaker 11 (36:05):
In fact, I vote your message from the boys and
Kentucky in Alabama. They say you're running this town like
as sister, and they think you are to consider retired.

Speaker 7 (36:13):
We're ready to talk to thee deal.

Speaker 10 (36:16):
Listen, Mississippi and Louisiana belong to me and my boys,
and you'd be one dead sucker along with all the
rest of these young college clowns if you try that
expansive stuff on us.

Speaker 11 (36:26):
Even though our things are nowadays, but the game went
a sporting knife in the black belts.

Speaker 7 (36:31):
There's no need for two of us.

Speaker 6 (36:33):
You got that right, Biggie.

Speaker 3 (36:34):
Not man.

Speaker 11 (36:36):
I wouldn't like to see no violence.

Speaker 6 (36:40):
You ain't gonna have to.

Speaker 7 (36:41):
I'm gonna hit you so hard. You won't see nothing.

Speaker 6 (36:43):
Ever.

Speaker 10 (36:45):
Meantime, while you were guessed in my town, if you
and your boys looking for some action, we betting on Farnsworth.
If you all like forty Street Black our cover everything
you got, sucker.

Speaker 6 (36:57):
My money's on.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
I know you did not say nothing from good Times.

Speaker 6 (37:02):
Oh it might be something that's okay.

Speaker 9 (37:05):
We you know, man, I also don't know why.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
We're just finding out now. It's very interesting.

Speaker 6 (37:14):
Passay in August. I just found out right now.

Speaker 2 (37:16):
The whole world just the news.

Speaker 9 (37:18):
Yeah, I didn't know lots of family drama was going
family drama.

Speaker 6 (37:23):
So you gotta go no, go ahead, we got that's it.
That's it.

Speaker 5 (37:27):
So two stories that nobody cares about. Hold A Cobb
is leaving NBC.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
And you know how I know you don't care about it.

Speaker 6 (37:35):
How do you know? How do I know?

Speaker 2 (37:36):
Because her name is Copy?

Speaker 6 (37:38):
What's her name? Copy? Her name?

Speaker 2 (37:40):
Yeah, I didn't know that she's an Egyptian.

Speaker 6 (37:43):
Whole name is hold of Copy. I never heard it
said that we say black people to hear the cob
hold a Cop.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
I was surprised about that.

Speaker 6 (37:52):
The cob.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
What's she going to be doing?

Speaker 5 (37:54):
Legacy admissions banned in California, following the lead of Maryland, Illinois,
Colorado in Virginia. Okay, so you know, no longer just
because your mom and daddy went to so and so
you get in that's over.

Speaker 9 (38:05):
So that after the affirmative action ruling from the Supreme
Court with college admissions, a lot of people are like, well,
what about the legacy and so whatever?

Speaker 2 (38:13):
That's answering.

Speaker 9 (38:14):
No, that's Those were people who were saying, you know,
don't act like you know, folks just be getting in
here because no, they get in here because their parents
cut a check.

Speaker 5 (38:23):
Well, here's the one whatever, here's the one to get you.
Guess who's complaining. Yeah, guess who's complaining.

Speaker 9 (38:30):
Now?

Speaker 5 (38:30):
Who is the Asian group that pushed the affirmative action ban.
They're complaining because they say, the name number of Asian
students is dropping.

Speaker 6 (38:40):
Yes it is.

Speaker 5 (38:42):
Hello, that was the hello hell oh duh, Yes, non
you're non white Asians. You benefited from this.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
Clip. Radio Smart Clark calls out.

Speaker 6 (39:02):
You know what, I mean, what did you what's going on?

Speaker 9 (39:05):
But I think that that it's I think that that
speaks to a lot of populations.

Speaker 6 (39:10):
They're like ignorant, we don't how it works.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
We don't want government assistance.

Speaker 9 (39:14):
Yes, until there's a flood that takes your home away, Yes, kucky.

Speaker 5 (39:19):
And now you want government be my insurance alone, it
nature insurance. We don't got a job because you got
insurance through the job. There's a lot of people who
don't understand how this thing works, and even.

Speaker 9 (39:29):
Because but here's what I think, because people want it
to be fair. And listen, hear me out right, people
people want it to be fair.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
It should be.

Speaker 9 (39:40):
I have a four point h and so I'm gonna
speak for the black population. We're thirteen percent or whatever
we are. I have a four point Oh, i'm my my,
it scored a perfect score in the act and the
SAT I'm involved.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
But the numbers are against you.

Speaker 9 (39:57):
The odds are against you by the sheer number of
the majority.

Speaker 2 (40:02):
And you being a member of uh you know, a
minority member, so you.

Speaker 6 (40:08):
Bias.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
But it's just on paper, it can't be fair. So
this like and bias of course.

Speaker 6 (40:14):
And bias.

Speaker 5 (40:15):
People are biased. So because here's the right, un let
you go. Because we talk about fairness, and I think
you know, hey, hello, wake up, life's not fair.

Speaker 7 (40:27):
You know.

Speaker 5 (40:27):
My high school in Springfield. Finally, awarded after all these years,
and Tracy mirrors was should have been the number one student.
Now why what what would make her not get that?
So let's talk about fairness. If her grade point average
and her grade and her everything else was higher than
the person that they, oh, they wanted to share it with,

(40:51):
why would that even be a conversation Because people's feelings
and people's bias comes into play, and you know, it's like.

Speaker 9 (41:00):
People don't want to see the establishment fall, and that's themacy.

Speaker 2 (41:07):
They don't want to You don't even know it, don't
even know why.

Speaker 9 (41:10):
You talk about fair The Justice Department has just now
launched I want you to hear me the first federal
review of the nineteen twenty one Tulsa race and massacre
in nineteen twenty one four?

Speaker 6 (41:25):
What are we talking about?

Speaker 9 (41:27):
The only reason why I think it might not come
back in that favor because where did these planes.

Speaker 2 (41:31):
Come from to drop these bombs? Like who's who is
complyant in this?

Speaker 9 (41:35):
And so to say yes, the government had or law
enforcement or whatever had any hand in it, that's really.

Speaker 2 (41:44):
Damning all of it, all of it. When you talk
about fair you just launched.

Speaker 5 (41:49):
A hugitive Slave Act. You escaped to slavery, allowed them
to come and take your but right back over the
line in the slavery that was the government. Look right, Yeah,
a managements a.

Speaker 2 (42:03):
Piece of paper that says you're free. What's let me
hold this for?

Speaker 6 (42:07):
Let me read it? Okay, No you don't, Now, you
don't have it, Okay, come with me.

Speaker 9 (42:10):
Yeah, so I mean yeah, but the Department of Justice
just launched his first federal probe into it, so they
are still survivors of this.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
Remarkably, this is in nineteen.

Speaker 9 (42:20):
Twenty one, talking about Jimmy Carter holding on to vote
in the November election. I feel like these folks are
holding on just to see a little bit of justice.

Speaker 5 (42:27):
Well if they denied some money because of it. So okay, babe,
go ahead. We'll see you soon.

Speaker 6 (42:32):
I have a great one.
