Speaker 1 (02:08):
To do today.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Oh yeah, we mixed it up.
Speaker 5 (02:10):
Oh yeah, mix it up with some content here and
for our short reels and other sort of content you
see on the network. So with that said, Christian, it
was a again. The Ice Dogs came away with the
win and we vented a little bit about it getting
down there for the post game.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Wasn't this team's best start?
Speaker 5 (02:26):
And yes, they faced a Sudbury team that got their
first win last night in Eary, but at the end
of a three and three and you could tell in
that third period the Ice Dogs knew that they had
a tired Sudbury Wolves team and they had to take
advantage and they came.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Through when they needed to to grab the two points.
Speaker 6 (02:41):
Lots of talk about for Thanksgiving dinners, that's for sure.
I'm sure all these Ice Dogs their parents are going
to be filled with compliments for tonight and also maybe
a little bit of criticism as are we. I think
it's a game where you want a little bit more,
you know. Wastlyn comes back really excited for that. The
top six looks scary, you got you know, the bottom
(03:06):
six looks great as well. You have you know, Vladislav,
your mallenco playing fantastic and things from a statistical standpoint,
from a you know, a bird's eye view, look, fantastic.
Ice Dogs come away with the win, and we're not
gonna get too negative. It is fantastic. The Ice Dogs
take one of two here this week. They beat the
(03:26):
Sudbury Wolves for the second time this season in this building.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Can't really complain too much. They get the two points, but.
Speaker 6 (03:32):
A lot of stuff to work on, a lot of
things to develop here in the coming weeks as we
get deeper into the season. But definitely, like you said, Brandon,
not a pretty.
Speaker 5 (03:40):
One bounce back after the loss against the very potent
Branford Bulldogs here a couple nights ago. So again they
tumble with the two points, but not exactly how they
drew it up, but we're gonna hear from Ice Dog's
head coach Chris BArch as well as import defenseman Ben
Reizenecker scoring his first career Ohl goal. We'll get to
speak to that the young man as well in the
post game later tonight. But Christian quickly take us to
(04:02):
the lineup because obviously Brady Woslon being back in the
lineup tonight was big for the Ice Dogs. Your Malenka
win Net Andrew Wisik not in the lineup for the
Ice Dogs on the back end. But what did you
notice there from the line combost tonight?
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Yeah, an interesting look.
Speaker 6 (04:16):
Like I said previously, the top six looks incredible. You
got Roebrick, Patterson and Wassly in. That's what we're calling
the first line. The second line is what I call
line one and a half. That's Kevin e Ethan Zada
and Ryerson Edgar. It's a first line on lots of
teams around the Ontario Hockey League. We had two first lines,
(04:37):
which is fantastic. A little energy line on line number three,
Raith Smith, Hayden Reid, Sean Doherty. I thought they had
a great game here this afternoon playing physical and I
like to look at that as that's the Chris BArch special,
you know what I mean, Like he loves that group.
Speaker 7 (04:52):
Right.
Speaker 6 (04:52):
They're gonna chip the puck in deep, they're gonna finish
their checks, They're gonna play that physical brand of hockey.
And then a combination of a couple of different things
on the fourth line. You got Galliana, Jacob Monks and
Alex Hage for kind of a nifty look of some speed,
skill in physicality on that fourth group that I also
thought had a great night as well. The bottom six
for me looks great, so does the top six. Up
(05:15):
and down the lineup. Everybody contributed. Of course, Ben Reesenecker
on the back end was fantastic. He was paired up
with Liam Spencer tonight. I thought their unit was great. Yeah, no,
not a lot to dislike from the lineup. I think
it's really starting to take shape. And then Vladislav you're
Maleco in between the pipes again and he played sensational tonight.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Scratches.
Speaker 6 (05:36):
We'll quickly go through him just so we don't leave
anybody out. Cole Cooksy, Andrew Weissik, Blake Barnes, jud Nooft,
and Matto Speth don't draw into the lineup tonight, so
or this afternoon.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
I should say, an interesting one.
Speaker 6 (05:48):
I do like the line combinations, though I thought it
was a dangerous look for the four lines up front.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
And since our last episode, Christian Matthew Humphries has been
reassigned to the Aurora Tigers and the OJHL already picking
up a nice win for that young man confidence and
good for him to get some playing time because obviously
Charlie Robertson has shown that he's one hundred percent coming
off that double hip surgery, and Vladislav you're Malenko, the
import coming over, has shown that he's capable clearly what
we saw tonight, to handle the load as well. So
(06:15):
I think they've got those two guys right now, and
Humphreys is still only only a phone call away, and
they've got a lot of high hopes for that young
man going into the future. But good for him to
get down to Aurora, get some playing time and they'll
be riding with Robertson and your malenco for now.
Speaker 6 (06:27):
Yeah, And I think they have three fantastic goaltenders in
this organization now. It's a great spot to be where
you have to send a guy like Matt Humphries down
to the Aura Tigers.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
What a luxury to.
Speaker 6 (06:39):
Take a very prominent, young, talented netminder and say, you know,
we're gonna give you some playing time and we'll see
you next year, maybe later this season. I mean absolutely,
there's still lots of hockey left.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
To be played. Things can happen in knock on one. Yeah,
I shouldn't have said that.
Speaker 6 (06:52):
We'll knock on wood here for sure, but uh yeah,
I like what I've seen from the goaltenders. I thought
Urmleco played great, Charlierobertson's been fantastic, and Humphreys just looking
to get a little bit more experience and he's gonna
get that with the Aer Tigers, and he's gonna blank
a lot of teams in the OJ I'll tell you
right now from experience, you know, working in some of
those you know, minor junior leagues as opposed to the
(07:16):
major levels. It's a different skill level. And on in
the Ontario Junior Hockey League, you see some older players
and maybe that's some of the experience they're looking for
him to gain. There see some harder shots from some
bigger bodies, maybe bigger screens, who knows out front of
the crease, But gonna be a good experience for Matt Humphries.
But I am satisfied, I would say, And of course
(07:37):
the brass here is as well with Vladyslav, your Malenco
and Charlie Robertson.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
They've been fantastic.
Speaker 6 (07:42):
And yeah, not much else to say there about the
goaltending situation. Really quickly though, before we forget, Happy birthday
to Bones, all right, we need to make sure that
that is said on the podcast. It was well documented
today on the social media pages and you know, in
arena and outside of it. But from us at the
(08:03):
Dog Pound Podcast in the armchair GM Sports Network, Bones,
a very happy birthday to you, my favorite dog.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
I never had a dog. Actually I don't know. Have
you had a dog?
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Oh yea.
Speaker 6 (08:13):
I wish never had a dog, and that frustrates me.
So Bones is by extension my pet. Love them like
a brother, I guess you could say. But we're gonna
figure out how Oldie is in dog years.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
If anybody knows, let us know.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Please in the comment section.
Speaker 6 (08:29):
Somebody, we did a ticket giveaway and I will say
this if somebody can tell me a guess.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Let's do a guess.
Speaker 6 (08:37):
I will buy them a ticket for an upcoming game
of your choosing. Okay, somebody give me the exact answer
to a T without googling it.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Actually, I don't know how good luck with that.
Speaker 6 (08:49):
You like verifying, Well, we'll do it the way like
people you know, you know, allow students when they're writing tests.
You got like that that browser that like locks it down.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
We'll start testing people.
Speaker 6 (09:00):
I bet you guys weren't ready for that one on
a Sunday on Thanksgiving weekend, and happy Thanksgiving as well,
we can you can throw that out there as well
for all of our listeners. But what do you think,
Brandon gamestats.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Yeah, let's get into the game stats tonight brought to
you by Janel Flouring. If you think it a better
deal anywhere else you don't know Jack, contact them at
jnol Flooring dot com or visit them their Niagara Falls location.
Be your quality flooring project today and Jack's gonna love that.
He's a Sabers guy. Sabertooth was here in attendance today
along with it along with Deeke from the Oshawa Generals.
You had Jacques pass On from the well and Jackfish
(09:33):
and a couple of mascots from the Oshwagan Speedway as well,
here to help Bone celebrate his birthday bash.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
What a lucky guy.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
It was the hottest red carpet I've ever seen.
Speaker 6 (09:41):
These guys were there. Should have been sparks flying. You
should have seen the way these guys were entering. Yeah, jocks,
you name it.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
Mascots all over the plabertoothed labor toooth, except for when
they came with the Blue Jay jerseys on.
Speaker 6 (09:52):
But that's that's where Brandon's afternoon took a sharp turn
for the worst. Most of you are aware he is
a New York Yankees fan. Be sure to remind him
in the comment section that the Yankees are no longer
playing ball this year.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Yeah, tred Lightley Christian.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Anyway, So let's get into the shots on net.
Speaker 5 (10:09):
And this was the biggest discrepancy that we had talked
about most of the game forty five to twenty six
in favor of the Sudbury Wolves, the first period eighteen
to six, and then a sort of was able to
stabilize for the Ice Dogs thirteen ten and fourteen ten
in favor of Sudbury, but Obviously, the glaring thing was
that first period with the Ice Dogs even giving up
a couple of short handed chances as well on the
(10:29):
power play.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
That they had.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
Definitely looked like they were coming off of three and
three in the first period, for.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
Sure, and I think that's where some of the concern
sets in. It's and to take it a step further,
not just the first period, it leaked into this second
period as well. I took a look up at the
shot clock or the shot tracker. Thirty minutes into this game,
ten minutes in a period number two, the Ice Dogs
had not registered ten shots on goal. They were down.
(10:56):
I think it was something like twenty four to seven,
and you know, absolutely shots weren't great, and it just
speaks to you know, not being ready, not coming out
with the Ice Dogs brand of hockey, the Chris Parch
brand of hockey, of playing physical, getting the puck, indeed
four checking, putting your foot on the gas. I felt
like we were we had our left foot on the
(11:17):
break and our right foot on the gas, like driving
a car in a circle.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Going nowhere in a parking lot.
Speaker 6 (11:22):
Like it was some guys moving forward and then you know,
two steps forward, one step back right or two steps
backwards as opposed to one step forward, And there was a.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
Lot of great things that happened.
Speaker 6 (11:33):
I just think Sudbury did a great job of controlling
the pace of play in that first period, and you
gotta give them a lot of credit. I mean, they
come into this one the latter half of a three
and three and they look fantastic in the first period.
And of course Chris Parch and company won't be too
happy about that one. But yeah, the shots definitely glare
off the page for you and for myself. They're gonna
(11:54):
jump forty five to twenty six. Not a great look.
The ice Dog's also lost in the face off dot
this afternoon. They lost on the power play, they lost
on the penalty kill. Like there, we won. You won
the game. The score was four to three, But you
look at all the other metrics, all the statistics they
read in Sudbury's favor, and that's how you can analyze
this game. Yes, Kevin he score, Yes, Ryan Rodbricks score,
(12:19):
Ben Reisenecker gets his first of his OHL career, and
vladislavvire Malenko set fire to the blue ice tonight.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
But but beyond that.
Speaker 6 (12:27):
There was not a whole lot of other things happening
in this game where the Ice Dogs were successful, and
I think that's a little bit concerning for me.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
And the Ice Dog's eleven eleven percent powerplay coming in,
which ranks them seventeenth out of twenty team Sudbury, Eerie
and Flint the only other teams worse in the power
play department. And Sudbury scored two goals on the power
play tonight, so that's gonna up their percentage a little bit.
But the Ice Dog's penalty kill, to me, has been
a lot better than twelfth in the OHL. I feel
like they've done a really good job on that PK
(12:57):
unit and they've they've been able to stabilize their They
only up well, four on six isn't their best performance,
but uh, Subbury two for six on the power play,
Niagara won for five, but they did get a shorthanded
goal from Grayson Tiller, as we'll get into in the
scoring summary, Christian, But anything else you mentioned the faceoff
dot did anything stick out to you there tonight?
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Not really.
Speaker 6 (13:18):
I think it comes with hockey. You know you're not
always gonna win the faceoff dot. Like it's fantastic when
you know Ethan Zada decides he's gonna win every faceoff,
but it's it's just not realistic. Sometimes it's gonna go
the other way. I think for me, the face offs
are not the worst thing to lose in a hockey game.
Of course, it dictates, it dictates possession, and that could
(13:39):
also be you know, reading in between the lines, something
that was a factor here today, But I don't want
to read too deep into it. Ice dogs win, they
get big performances from their big guns when they needed to.
They lost in the box score, you know, beyond the goals,
but it is what it is.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
I will say.
Speaker 6 (14:00):
Before we move on that I thought the penalty kill
was sharp. You mentioned it briefly. They did a great
job of moving pucks out and they clogged the center
of the ice, which is exactly the struggle that the
Ice Dogs had on the power play. They couldn't find
a way to get the puck through the center of
the ice. But to their credit, the Ice Dogs had
a fantastic penalty killed tonight. I thought kallum Chanowski in
(14:22):
particular was an absolute wall.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Like his knees, his shin pads don't even work.
Speaker 6 (14:29):
After this game I'll tell you that he was blocked
shots left, right and center. Give him a ton of credit.
Liam Spencer was great on the PK tonight. Love what
I see from Galianov. As always, he's a workhorse on
the penalty kill. So I thought that the penalty kill
was strong. Power play not so much shots, not so much.
Face off thought not so much, but penalty kill was
a plus.
Speaker 5 (14:49):
Quickly on the power play Christian because I asked Chris
Parch about it later in the post game. But they
started with five forwards tonight with Brady Washington being back
in the lineup. You had him on the point with
Kevin He, Ryan robrick Ethan Zada and Riiley Patterson up front.
By the end of the game and the last power
play they had it was Washlon, Patterson, Zada up front
with Kevin he at the point, but ardam Frohlov as
the defenseman. And we saw that come in handy a
(15:10):
few times when Sudbury had some really good short handed chances.
Ardam Frohlov came up with a big three on one
play where he was able to break it up, and
he came up with a big one on one play
as well later in one of the other power plays,
So putting Frolov back there obviously gives you more of
a chance to not give up those great short handed
opportunities w Sudbury had early in the game when they
(15:32):
had the five forwards out and it just to me
seemed like too many cooks in the kitchen with all
five of those guys being elite offensive players and need
to puck on their stick.
Speaker 6 (15:39):
Yeah, exactly, And it's it's almost like, well, what's the
weak side.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
What's the weak side of the power play?
Speaker 6 (15:44):
You got five superstars on the ice, how do you
navigate the offensive zone? Who gets the puck where? And
what's the strategy? Like, you know what, what Robrick on the.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
Half wall is?
Speaker 6 (15:54):
He just supposed to shoot it every time. It's so
for me, I agree with that saying. I think cooks
in a kitchen too many is a great way to
look at it, for sure. And when they did make
that adjustment, it worked. Ryan Rodbrooks scored on the power
play on the second unit, mind you, because they made
that adjustment. And I think for a ton of different reasons,
Art and Frolove is fantastic on this power play.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
I mean, you see the mobility.
Speaker 6 (16:17):
His defensive game, to your credit, we talked about this tonight,
has taken massive steps in his ohl career. He's not
just an offensive player. You can play defense as well,
but I think he knows how to quarterback, and as
good as Brady Wasslyn is, I like him better on
the half wall. I think he can make those scene passes,
but he can't. What he can't do is kate backwards
(16:39):
at the same speed as Arden Frolov. So for me,
those two on ones, the three on one and the
breakaway that we saw tonight on the penalty kill is
probably a result of not having forro Love quarterbacking that
power play. So I do like the adjustment and it
paid off. We'll get to the goal later, but I
did notice that myself as well. Five forward power play
(17:00):
an interesting choice.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
I mean, can't blame them, though, can you.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
Yeah, look at.
Speaker 6 (17:05):
The guys you put out there, it's not exactly a
bad decision. I think maybe the chemistry's come in obviously
at Brady Wastlin's first game back, so you know, he's
got to start gelling with his teammates and they'll start
to get an idea of where each other are on
the ice and they'll start to develop, you know, an
understanding of.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
You know, how that puck's gonna move. I don't think that.
Speaker 6 (17:25):
Five man power play, that five forward power plays going
anywhere anytime soon. I think it can be dangerous. But
I do like the option of having both. You know,
you can have Wotlin at the point, you can have
fro Love on the point. I like either one. I
just think that that five forward power play tonight didn't
look great. It can It can look great. I mean,
there's no reason why it can't. Just I like for
(17:46):
Love better.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
And it can be very volatile at times the other way.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
So that's the thing.
Speaker 6 (17:50):
It's, you know, do you want to score five and
give up four short handed goals? You know, yeah, what's
the trade off? So yeah, I think forro Lov's that's
that's more of that unit is more of a comfortable
If you're with three minutes left in a playoff game
and you're tied, you're probably putting fro Lob out there
on that unit, right.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
It depends on where you are.
Speaker 6 (18:12):
It's what the tenth game of the season playing Sudbury,
you know, in our own building, we're comfortable. Wastlin's first
game back, let's try it. Sure, Sure, but I do
think as we get deeper in this season, decisions are
going to be half to you know, decisions are going
to have to be made as to you know, what
is the moment and what's important, what's up for grabs
(18:34):
or maybe a better term would be what's at stake?
And I think I just like arden Frolov on the
back end. I think he's a weapon.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Yeah, I like him a lot too.
Speaker 5 (18:44):
And again his second stint here with the ice Dogs
definitely looks a lot more confident in all ends of
the ice. But we'll get forward with our scoring summary tonight,
brought to you by the NYGRE Employment Health Center, helping
people find work in Niagresus nineteen eighty three. Checkout through
up to day job board at EHD dot to find
your next work opportunity. Today we'll call you get through
the scoring summary as fast as we can, because we
both want to go home and eat her somewhat Thanksgiving dinners.
(19:06):
But regardless of that, first off, two big saves by
Vladislavir Malanka in the first thirty seconds of the game,
I wanted to quickly mention that that Studbury could have
got off to the lead. But it's it's Ben Reesenecker
taking the pass from Kevin he and risting it with
traffic from sort of the point there being able to
risk that one and a good seeing eye shot there
(19:27):
to give the ice dogs the lead and obviously pick
up the puck for the the the CHECKI and import
and a really special moment for that young man.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Absolutely and for me.
Speaker 6 (19:36):
I've said this before on the podcast, that play comes
down to Kevin. He's speed. You know what he does.
He drives the corner and he turns back.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Have you ever tried to turn back in a car
going one hundred miles an hour.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
It's not possible.
Speaker 6 (19:52):
It doesn't happen. Doesn't happen. Kevin he is an ass car,
all right. He can do that. He has the ability.
The defender that was caught him could not.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Kevin. He turns around in the corner.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
Guess what all kinds of time and space reason Ecker
does a great job.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
He opens himself up.
Speaker 6 (20:08):
He gets that stick in a receiving area, grabs it,
fires it. The rest is history. Riisenecker has his first
in the OHL. So a great way to start this one.
And then I guess the next three and a half
minutes were just non stop goals.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
There was four goals in four and a half minutes.
Speaker 6 (20:24):
Branded a great start, but definitely fantastic for the young
man to get his first.
Speaker 5 (20:30):
You mentioned, Sudbury gets that five on three after unfortunately
play trying to get the puck out given Sudbury the
two man advantage, and Kieran Walton takes a shot and
it was deflected by one of his teammates out in
front past your Malanko. Not a whole lot he can
do on that to get the Wolves on the board.
But then it's Kevin he cutting down the left wing
and just watching him skate through the neutral zone and
(20:51):
then seeing him cut towards the wall and going down
that left wing. He scored a similar goal against Branford
doing that the other night as well, so and he
went schwartze this time on the Wolves goaltender who tonight
out of the Russian brulette that we're gonna call the
Sudbury Wolves goaltending. No offense to our friend David Bowen
over there in the Sudbury Wolves broadcast, but I'm sure
(21:12):
you would agree. And he was a goalie wants himself
as well. But Owen Owen Leonard was the goalie for
the Sudbury Wolves tonight.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
Kevin.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
He really nice short sights shot and just the elusive
moves that he's able to do in the neutral zone,
those cuts to get around those defenders.
Speaker 6 (21:25):
Yeah no, it's just the way he navigates the neutral ice.
I think, you know, having this speed is one thing,
but knowing how to use it and where to actually
skate is a totally different thing. He's got the physical
ability and he's mixing it with the almost the chests
of you know, if I move this way, which way
does that guy go?
Speaker 8 (21:42):
You know?
Speaker 6 (21:42):
And what are the domino effects of my edges?
Speaker 9 (21:47):
You know?
Speaker 6 (21:47):
He cuts this way, that guy moves this way, it
opens up that side. Okay, I'm gonna go over there
and then I'm gonna roof it, you know, short side,
top lefts, you know, and just to you know, stay
there for a second, you know, with a Leonard, I
think they targeted short side tonight, a couple of goals
short side. Later we'll get to roebricks, but yeah, no,
(22:08):
a great play, great individual play. We're gonna see a
lot more of that from number eleven. Another speedy goal
down the wing from Kevin He that's not a surprise.
Speaker 5 (22:18):
And then Shoutroni's able to tie the game for the
Sudbury Wolves right off the face off. He kind of
just won, got the the face the the puck. Off
the face off, win kind of just cut down and
was able to beat your Malanko there. The ice dogs
want that coverage back, but then they're able to in
the second period. It's one, it's two two going into
the second period. Midway through the second period, and this
one was a sort of a momentum changer because Sudbury's
(22:41):
on another power play. I don't know if this was
the Lettice love your Malinko shot over the glass, but
I know every time he goes behind the net to
play the puck, i'n up here and he's some pins
and needles sweat. Every time Ladys lev New Malanco goes
behind the buck. He's the modern day Mike Smith if
I've ever seen to.
Speaker 6 (23:00):
Jumping out of the poost like, I'm gonna see that netting.
So where we stand in the meridian center, the netting
cuts off at about the hash marks.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
They're gonna have to extend that because one of these
days he's.
Speaker 6 (23:12):
Gonna go back there to play the puck, and I
swear to God, I'm gonna jump towards the glass. But
you know what, I'll give him credit. He did a
great job moving the puck today. But while we're on
the topic, I will say a couple like there was
a couple of scary ones tonight, all right. One of
them he actually took a penalty. I don't know what
he was trying to do. I think the puck actually
got tipped out of play. Not really his fault, you know, whatever,
(23:33):
it's gonna happen. But the same play like later in
the game almost was a goal. Like there was one
where he was stuck in behind his cage and four
checker just came a little faster than I guess he
was expecting, and he got kind of caught on his heels.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Puck came back.
Speaker 6 (23:49):
Out into the high slot and oh, where's your malenco
He's diving out from the trap as aay to to
you know, just just save this puck. And I turned
to brand I said, this is like that that puck
goes in the net, Like this is my worst nightmare
coming true. Like Freddy Krueger, But yeah, I think his
(24:10):
his his puck play is is a is a positive,
but it can it can be can be concerning at times.
There was another play in the first period where he
just gave away the puck, you know, he shot the
puck up the far side and went off the glass
right into the hands of the Sudbury defender as opposed
to just leaving it behind the net for his defender
to skate onto.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
So don't want to rip the young man.
Speaker 6 (24:31):
He had a fantastic game here this afternoon, So by
all means, do not take my words too strongly when
I when I refer.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
To this, it's just something that I'm noticing.
Speaker 6 (24:41):
I love his ambition to play the puck and you know,
his comfortability. It's going to kick start a whole lot
of breakouts this season. But it is also giving me
heart palpitation. So it is a little bit of both, right.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
But anyways, back back to h the scoring summer, yep.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
So it was Kevin he that caused the turnover short
handed down in the in the right corner from a
Sudbury Wolves net and he's able to sort of just
find Grayson Tiller cutting down and with no hesitation, just
one time blasts this thing. Fulton Reid. Fulton looked like
Al mckinness back in the day. I'm showing my age
(25:22):
on that boy.
Speaker 6 (25:22):
But I have I've seen the Mighty Ducks. I know
Fulton Reid. I have no idea.
Speaker 5 (25:26):
Al mckinness's you're you're too young hockey player. Yes, fantast
Hall of Fame player for the Saint Louis Blues.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
Saint Louis Blues.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
I was gonna put a slap shot through the glass.
I'll just say that.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
So Fulton Reid, he's a real life Fulton Red.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
But he just blasted this one past Owen Leonard. And
what a great moment for Grayson Tiller for his first
goal on home ice in front of a lot of
friends and family. Seemed like a lot of them were
here tonight as well. The Saint Catherine's native I got
his first goal on the road, but first one at
home I'm sure means a lot to the overager.
Speaker 6 (25:54):
Yeah, it's like what we would call spray and pray,
close your eyes and just take away.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
And that buck just found him in the right spot.
Speaker 6 (26:03):
Shorthanded goal and a momentum shifter and fantastic for him,
fantastic for the team and for Owen Leonard.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
I mean, what are you gonna do?
Speaker 6 (26:11):
Yeah, right, like that puck just comes at you, you know,
one hundred and fifty kilometers an hour.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
You know, Tiller leaned every.
Speaker 6 (26:18):
Last ounce of his weight into that biscuit off the crossbar.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
And in it goes. And you know that.
Speaker 6 (26:24):
Yeah, for a first goal here at home in front
of the home fans on a Thanksgiving Sunday.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
Couldn't have asked for a better one.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
No, that's for sure.
Speaker 5 (26:33):
And again Kevin he causing the turnover, just an incredible
effort by him, continues to be a menace on both
sides of the pocket. And then we get to the
third period with the Ice Dogs up three to two.
The Wolves tie it with fellow Winnipeg Jets prospect Here
and Walton finding a little bit of space between vladysill
have your malinkos pad and the post. Really nice shot
low by by Here and Walton to give them the
(26:56):
or to tie the game at threes. And we get
later into the third period, about six minutes later ten
forty one mark, about half period to play, and Ryan
Robrick gets the power play goal. Christian Walk us through
this one.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
Yeah, no, this is uh, there's a couple of ways
to look at this. The unit's changed, so.
Speaker 6 (27:13):
We're finally we're looking at we're looking out there. So
what do we see a defenseman on the power play?
It's the second unit. Ryan Robrick's out there with Edgar's
unit and just a different look. He gets a great
look at Owen Leonard on the short side up top
of the point. It's Ben Reezenecker. Just feathers one right across,
you know, not even really across, just right down the
(27:35):
wall finds Roebrick and he takes a couple of strides
to the top of this circle and lets one go,
goes short side top left. A beautiful shot from Ryan Robrick.
I thought he had a couple of nice shots tonight.
You know, his shot looks good. You know, it's it's funny.
I was listening to at least talk the Toronto Maple
Leaves podcast the other night, right bran as Brandon looks
(27:55):
skyward and rolls his eyes.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
But and you know what they were talking about.
Speaker 6 (27:58):
They said, with a guy like Austin Matthews, I'm not
looking at whether or not he's scoring. I'm looking at
what his shot looks like. Right tonight Roebricks scores. He's
quietly been putting together a decent season. He's got, like
I think after tonight, probably eight or nine points so
far he's producing. But it doesn't it's not necessarily a dynamic,
(28:22):
you know, a dynamic production that we've seen so far
from Ryan Robrick.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
But I saw a couple of shots today he leaned
into them.
Speaker 6 (28:29):
They were heavy, they were fast, and you know, they
definitely gave me a neck kink trying to keep up
with them.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
They were fast, and you know, I like what I
saw from his game.
Speaker 6 (28:38):
He had, you know, some great defensive plays and of
course that that was a great snapshot. He goes upstairs
on the short side and his fourth in the season
comes with the power play. So two times from the
same spot they beat Owen Leonard. That was the second
time they did that.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
And Ryan Roebrick gave a lot of credit to Liam
Spencer on that play, who as the defenseman was screening
the goaltender as well.
Speaker 6 (28:59):
Yes, yes, and that's another thing. Bring in some big
bodies on the power play. I mean to go back
to the first unit, like the all forward when Ethan
Zonna is a pretty big boy.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
So is Riley Patterson.
Speaker 6 (29:11):
But Brady Wasslin and Kevin he and who's screening who's
screening the goaltender there?
Speaker 3 (29:16):
All of them are waiting. You know they're waiting.
Speaker 6 (29:18):
I want the pass right we're looking for. These are
skill guys, right. You put a guy like Liamspencer out front,
all he's gonna do is stand there six five.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
There goes six five. That is a.
Speaker 6 (29:30):
Telephone pole in front of Owen Leonard. He couldn't see
a thing like you know. That gives Roebrick the chance
to walk in. But I will give the coaching staff
a ton of credit. They made the adjustment. They dismantled
the five forward power play. They went with a different
look and they got rewarded for it.
Speaker 5 (29:49):
And the Ice Dogs do hold on. Sudbury had the
advantage with the six on five and then ended up
taking a penalty to really negate any opportunity that they
had and the Ice Dogs basically just to hem them
in their zone for the last twenty seconds.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
So Ice Dog's come away with a four to three victory.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
They do, and a great victory. Well a lot of love.
You're a Milanko forty two saves.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
That's where that's where the great comes in. For me.
Speaker 6 (30:12):
The great is that Ryan Roebrick got in the score sheet, Kevin,
he had three points. Again, I don't know what's this guy.
You know, he's just lighting it up and you love
to see that from the captain. Yeah, you're a Malanko
at a great night. Lots of stuff to like, but
lots of things to improve upon. And it's still early season.
You know, growing pains are are.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
You know good? I like to look at it that way.
Speaker 6 (30:37):
I myself am very recently getting into the gym, and
I will tell you right now that when you're new,
it's something it hurts. It hurts, and it's a good feeling.
When you get the growing pains, it means you're you're developing,
you're getting better. The Ice Dogs right now are like
me on a bench press machine. They may not be great,
(30:58):
but they got potential. They're going places. They're going places,
and there's a lot to like. But still you know,
room to improve, room to lift heavier. But I thought
it was a respectable sixty minutes of work tonight from
the Ice Dogs.
Speaker 5 (31:14):
We will get more postgame reaction coming up after the break,
We'll here from Ice Dog's head coach Chris BArch and
Benriesenecker following his first career OHO goal.

that said, Christian, before we get to Chris Barch's postgame comments,
the Ice Dogs a little bit of a lighter schedule.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
This week with the two home games.
Speaker 5 (37:27):
They'll have some more practice time a home and home
with Erie for the Ohl Rivalry week, which is something
that they've done the last few years, really ramping it
up this season. They'll face the Eerie Odders, their geographical
rivals here next weekend and a home and home first
and Erie and then back here. So if you're looking
at it, more opportunity if the Ice Doogs pick up
some points against an opponent that you look on paper
(37:48):
that they should should quotation marks be able to beat.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
But that's why it's called rivalry week.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
Yeah, my only questions where's the tailgate? I mean, we're
gonna be eerie and here.
Speaker 6 (37:59):
We gotta we're gonna collect, We're gonna we're gonna unify,
or we gotta protest in the streets. Everybody come together,
all for one, one for all. But uh no, yeah,
it should be a great week. I'm antaicipating two massive
Nigrice Dogs victories. We go on that winning streak, we
bounce right back from a couple of tough losses last week.
(38:20):
But you never know, I mean, Erie played a pretty
respectable game last night against the Sudbury Wolves.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
Uh So it's you know, it's hard to know. It's hockey.
There's bounces.
Speaker 6 (38:30):
Erie a team that's competitive, and Niger's gonna.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
Have to bring their best game.
Speaker 6 (38:36):
They're gonna have to start on time, which they didn't
do tonight, and they gotta get shots on goal.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
I mean, Sudbury similar to the Erie Otters.
Speaker 6 (38:44):
They both have a little bit of a question mark
and goal, you know, not one hundred percent, you know,
a Charlie Roberson or in Brantford like a Ryerson Leanders
or a David Egarov. You gotta get shots on goal
how you win these games. So for me though, those
would be my keys to victory. You know, show up
as the packet wild Dogs that you did here tonight.
Make sure you get the puck active actively on the
(39:07):
net and cause havoc. And that's how they're gonna get
it done next weekend, but definitely an exciting week of hockey.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
I'm looking forward to it.
Speaker 5 (39:15):
The Ice Dog's improved a five to three, zero to
one on the season, and we'll see where that ranks them,
coming in second place in the Eastern Conference in the
top the Central Division standings as of now, But wait
and see how everything shakes out after the other Sunday
games this afternoon.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
So let's get two Ice Dogs.
Speaker 5 (39:29):
Head coach Chris BArch and his postgame comments is always
brought to you by Wild Those out of Repair, helping
customers stay safe and confident on the road in niagress
Is twenty twelve in honor of the late William Robert Hunter.
Here's what the Ice Dogs head coach had to say
about his team's victory to close out Thanksgiving Sunday, in
a little bit about his favorite dishes on this day
as well.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
Well.
Speaker 5 (39:47):
Coach, get this team at the end of a three
and three. You could tell in the third period they
were on their heels a little bit. You were able
to take advantage to be able to pull out the
two points in a four to three victory on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
I'm sure that was a big one for the guys.
Speaker 9 (40:00):
Yeah. I thought the way we started the game, I
thought maybe they got to turkey at a little early
this morning. But you know, hey, it's two points. We
are in the business of wins and losses. So that's
in terms of taking that confidence and bringing it forth
throughout the week. Is will be a good thing for us.
And then you know, for these kids to go home
and to families and have a good meal tomorrow, hopefully
(40:22):
they'll have more of a smile on their.
Speaker 5 (40:24):
Face getting Wastling back in the lineup, I'm sure is
big for the whole group's confidence. Getting an impact player
like that, you put them on the power play as
well tonight. What do they feel like having number sixty
six on your lineup card again?
Speaker 9 (40:34):
Yeah, I know, it's great. He's a weapon. It's a
big year for him in terms of the NHL Draft.
It's probably a lot of excitement and it's just nice
to have him back in the lineup.
Speaker 5 (40:42):
Ben Reisenecker, big night for him, import player coming in,
he finally gets his first goal. I know the guys
are really excited for him in that sense, and you
know he's put a lot of work in on and
off the ice to turn that opportunity and then getting
assist as well. What do you think of the Checky
and Imports game tonight?
Speaker 3 (40:55):
You know what great?
Speaker 9 (40:57):
You know, defended well real good for his pass execution
was was it was very high shut down you know,
a lot a lot of their high end players. So
for me, what he did out there again another step
towards uh, you know, further growth and uh you know
again we look this week and continued to work with
respect to his development.
Speaker 5 (41:17):
So for half the game, you put out five forwards
on the power play again. I know that you had
said last week that maybe you were going to try
something different there, but you went back to the five
obviously five really good players. Was that sort of just
maybe too many cooks in the kitchen? You switched the
fro lob back there, and I know he made a
couple of big defensive plays on some of those short
handed chances that Saidbury had as well.
Speaker 9 (41:35):
Yeah, you know what we did attempt the five forwards
again wasn't the result we wanted. So yeah, we ended
up breaking up into two units, full love on one
and then we had the resnicker on the other. You
know again, Ryn roebrook a nice goal take advantage of
that power play. So, you know, you make some changes
(41:56):
and they you know, you hope, you hope they work.
Speaker 5 (41:58):
And you had a little bit of a lighter schedule
game schedule this week, so we were able to kind
of maybe dial in on some of the more of
the details that practice because when you play, you know,
two road games back to back weeks and you're not
really maybe getting as many practices. This kind of good
after that Branford game to to really get the guys
going with what you wanted them to do out there.
Speaker 9 (42:17):
Yeah, you know what, Yeah, we did invest in a
lot of our system work this week. Next week again
will be a nice four day segment for us to
you know, kind of keep tightening the bolts on everything.
So yeah, I know, preparation and having you know, those
days of practice are are huge, especially early.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
On in the year.
Speaker 1 (42:36):
What's Chris Barch's favorite dish on Thanksgiving?
Speaker 3 (42:38):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (42:40):
My wife makes a lot of good dishes, so I
don't know if.
Speaker 3 (42:42):
I can pick just one.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
So is there one maybe that you you know that
you had.
Speaker 9 (42:46):
A nice sweet potato. My son loves stuffing, so that's
up there. There's a real good family tradition of a
strawberry salad. Yeah, so there's a few out there.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
So thanks coach.
Speaker 9 (42:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (42:59):
Thanks.
Speaker 9 (43:01):
Is there any target date in mind when you want
to get those shots on your goal down a bit,
because it seems to be you've been outshot just about
every game. Yeah, I would say more so starting on time.
I think if you start on time, you possess pucks,
you win puck battles. Therefore you're playing an other team's end.
I think it's more not really looking at that as
(43:22):
a total, it's more showing up and being engaged when
that when that pucks shot, shot is a shot, you know,
I mean you can fire anything from anywhere if you want.
But it's more for me analyzing O zone possession time,
you know, I mean having pucks on your stick, you know,
making their d turn, making their d playing, making them
play defense. That's the real analytic that that we buy
into it. You know, shots is one thing, but what
(43:45):
are those Grade A? And then also, like I said,
O zone time, are there other analytics that you really
need to to to you know, investigate and buy into.
Speaker 1 (43:53):
Yeah, Letsla really came, played a good game.
Speaker 9 (43:56):
Too, fantastic phantasm and you know, again great for his confidence.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
Young guy, you know, made some real.
Speaker 9 (44:04):
Important safes for us. So yeah, he's a huge part
of the equation.
Speaker 5 (44:08):
So there was Ice Dog's head coach Chris BArch on
the Wild Bills out of repair postgame.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
Christian.
Speaker 5 (44:15):
I wish I could ask about four more follow ups
about that BArch family table at.
Speaker 1 (44:19):
Thanksgiving with some of those dishes.
Speaker 5 (44:21):
He was talking, Oh, it was getting me in the
his his my stomach is rumbling a little bit. That
strawberry salad that he talked about sound pretty good, but
in all seriousness, sounded like he was pretty pleased with
the way that they came out in that third period
and took advantage of a very tired submarine team.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (44:35):
Absolutely, but yeah, no, I want some strawberry salad myself too.
Speaker 3 (44:40):
Sounds great.
Speaker 6 (44:41):
I gotta say, I'm starving, starving, but no, Yeah, I
think a lot of the things that he mentioned there
are are similar to you know, some of my observations
with the way that this game went, you know, of
course starting on time. Yeah, that's a big one. And
as much as we want to talk about, oh they
got out shot tonight, Oh they got out shot in Sarnia.
Speaker 3 (45:01):
Well what does that mean?
Speaker 6 (45:03):
What does that actually mean to get out shot? I
think he hit the nail right on the head. Getting
out shot is not as as simple as you might
think it is, because to his point, I could shoot
the puck from the corner and it could be it
could you know, register as a shot on goals.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
So I think it's a good.
Speaker 6 (45:21):
Point that he makes, you know, to you know, credit
his forwards for when they're playing well, you know, if
we are up in the shots, it probably means that
we're carrying the pace of play, it means we have
offensive zone time. He mentioned that, So I think that
for me is a big one. I like the way
his head is turned in that direction when it comes
to the shots, not too worried about the actual metric,
(45:43):
but what it represents. And I think that that's a
good thing for this Ice Dogs team to really focus on.
You know, they have been out shot with you know,
consistency over the past couple of games. But I think
if they can focus on it from an offensive zone
time point of view and starting on time and really
building momentum, I think that that's gonna be key for them.
(46:03):
Another thing, you know, confidence with the way and he
talked about it, it's a victory, you know, as ugly
as it was, it's still a victory.
Speaker 3 (46:10):
You know, you take it, you roll with it.
Speaker 6 (46:12):
Take that confidence in the next week back here at
home and then across the border in Eerie. Just make
sure that you're ready to play, you're feeling good. You
bring that good feeling to the rin for sure. And
then Reesecker, you're Malenko both, you know. For me, the
big dogs tonight. You know, if I had to pick
one of them for you know, player of the game,
I'd probably be in a pretty tough spot. I think
(46:34):
they both played fantastic. Reesecker to Barch's point, you know,
he's great in tight areas for such a big guy.
He's got great hands. He moves fantastically as well. You know,
breakouts are solid at the point he holds it, you know, solid.
He's got great pinching ability. He can shoot, he can score,
he can hit, he can fight. You know, there's not
a lot of things that that kid can't do. And
(46:55):
then yeah, your Malanco had some massive saves this afternoon,
so I think he you know, really covered this game
top to bottom for sure.
Speaker 5 (47:04):
And uh again, he's happy to have number sixty six
back on that lineup card as well, of course can no,
definitely not. And he's just gonna keep getting better and better.
As his first game since September or sorry, August thirtieth
in that presess, which is crazy.
Speaker 3 (47:18):
Yeah, so, and I thought it looked great. Not a
whole lot of you know, offense happening there.
Speaker 6 (47:24):
But again, it's a night, it is a day where
the Ice Dogs just you know, didn't have a whole
lot of offense as a whole. So I I but
I liked his game. I thought he made a couple
of interesting dynamic plays. You know, he came across the
blue line. I like the ways he moves laterally. You know,
a lot of guys can be fast in a straight line.
You know, you could have Kevin heat speed. But he's
(47:44):
got great agility. He moves around well. And you know,
I see the confidence with the puck. I see the vision,
you know, and I see the shot coming along, and
I see the maturity in his game. So I think,
you know, for this team, it's just on another Chenga
block at the top of a you know, leaning tower, Pisa.
It's a dangerous group, and he just adds to that.
(48:06):
You know, he's a weapon, you know, to Chris Barch's point,
he's an absolute weapon. And it's always nice to get
somebody like that back.
Speaker 5 (48:13):
He's only going to get better and better when he
gets those game legs under him. So we'll get to
our Ice Doogs feature player interview brought to you by
the Niagra Dentric Clinic creating Nacro Smiles in the Niagar
region for over twenty five years. It's with Ben Reesenecker,
the check In Import defenseman on his first career goal
and adding a nice assist as well.
Speaker 1 (48:29):
Well.
Speaker 5 (48:29):
Ben, I'm sure that was a long time coming for you,
being able to get that first puck into the net.
What do you see on the play and then how
did you feel after it went in?
Speaker 8 (48:38):
I just got the pot, close my eyes, got a good,
good pass from Kav of course closed my eyes. Shot
At first, I thought like some team my teammate like
directed it, But it was my goal, So I'm really happy.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
Are you going to keep that or send it back
home to family?
Speaker 7 (48:55):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (48:55):
I'm gonna keep us.
Speaker 5 (48:56):
Yeah, don't blame you. You've shown some bite, You've you've
dropped the gloves a few times, shown some strives defensively,
But how good was it to show out offensively and
to help out with an assist as well and one
of the goals tonight? How are you feeling adjusting to
the North American style game?
Speaker 8 (49:13):
I mean, it's always good to score some goals, have
some assists throughout the seasons, some offensive plays, but yeah,
I mean I I'd have to click pretty quick.
Speaker 5 (49:23):
So yeah, what is what is the coaching staff ask
from you? And what have you have you tried to
implement as you've gotten forward now about a month end
of the season and getting used to everything here in Niagara, Like,
how how do you feel personally confidence wise?
Speaker 8 (49:36):
Yeah, I'm more of like a defensive defensive defense one,
just like for his defense. I can drop the gloves
like I think I can do like everything maybe.
Speaker 1 (49:49):
Yeah, what did you think of the game tonight?
Speaker 5 (49:51):
Obviously Sudbury, you know, coming in off of three and
three here in their final game, and they took it
to you guys a little bit in that first period.
It seemed like as the game went on, you guys
started to gain the momentum back. How did you feel
as the game went on there to get the two points?
Speaker 8 (50:03):
Yeah, it was an up and down, like we score
a goal, they score a goal. But I think they
got tired in the second third period, so we started
pushing them more.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (50:13):
I think that that was just they started get tired,
So that that says.
Speaker 1 (50:18):
What there was.
Speaker 5 (50:20):
Ben Riesenecker on the Niagara Ice Dogs Player post game
brought to you by the Niagar Denuer Clinic. Christian really
good thoughts there for his first interview. I got to
say killed it did did really well, handled himself really
well for the CHECKI and import and you know, talked
about a lot of things there as far as trying
to get used to the North American style and how
(50:41):
he's fitting in and the coaching staff and talked about
being more of a defensive defensive But it's nice for
him at chipwin offensively as well tonight for sure.
Speaker 7 (50:48):
I just I love the words that he uses, drop
the gloves, fight, shot, goal. He knows all the right
words in English, for sure, But love his game the
Grayson Hiller's strategy as well on that shot, just closed
his eyes and let it rip. Seems like two guys
tonight did something similar just you know, spray and pray.
(51:09):
But no, he brings so much to this team, you know,
such a character guy in the back end. You love
the fact that he endears himself to his teammates in
a way of you know, blocking shots and being physical
and you know, willing to drop the gloves and you know,
I think just he's he's a special player. For a
guy to be that size, with that kind of skill,
(51:31):
with that kind of attitude and mentality towards the game.
Speaker 3 (51:33):
He just he's fantastic.
Speaker 6 (51:35):
And the two points tonight he played physical and he's
anchoring a top unit. Well could be a top unit again,
I think, you know, just like the forward core, the
defensive core is just as deep you could. You can
go up and down the lineup. But he's playing with
Liam Spencer and that's a pretty big bodied unit. You know,
look at those two guys one six five the other
six three. Doesn't get any meaner and bigger than that.
(51:56):
So I like the unit he plays on it, like
the way he plays, like his mindset. He's gonna be
a staple here. The fans are gonna love him and
hopefully we continue to see performances like he had tonight.
I think he's a big character guy, and I'm sure
the guys in that room love him.
Speaker 5 (52:13):
And he talked about Sudbury looked like they were starting
to get a little tired and they were able to
take advantage of that. So it was nice of him
to sort of recognize that. But the congratulations to Ben
Reesenecker and we'll see if he sends that puck home.
He said he's gonna keep it, but I can't believe that.
Speaker 3 (52:27):
You know, mom, you're not getting it.
Speaker 1 (52:29):
But then he didn't even have it to take a picture. Afterwards,
they had to go.
Speaker 6 (52:32):
Back in, but we're trying to get him to take
a picture for the socials and he's like, oh pac okay,
runs to the locker room to get it.
Speaker 3 (52:39):
Like he didn't even bring it with him, he left
it in his stall.
Speaker 6 (52:43):
Great guy, great player, great defenseman, just an all around dog.
Speaker 3 (52:49):
Ben Riisnecker.
Speaker 5 (52:50):
And before we get out of here, we're gonna put
Christian on the spot with our stick Tap of the game,
brought to you by butt Ends hockey stick grips specifically
for the top end of the stick, designed to replace
traditional cloth tape.
Speaker 1 (52:59):

Speaker 5 (53:00):
Check them out of butt ends dot com with a
Z and use our referral code armchure GM to get
ten percent off your first order. Butt Ends the number
one grip and hockey Christian, Who a you going with tonight?
Speaker 3 (53:09):
Tough? Tough Brandon, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (53:12):
I mean one in an honorable That's all you can do.
Speaker 3 (53:14):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (53:14):
We gotta get out of here and give.
Speaker 3 (53:15):
You a dog pack. I got like three, but I'll
give you one and an honorable. Fine.
Speaker 5 (53:20):
Fine, because it's Thanksgiving, you can quickly get the second one.
Speaker 6 (53:24):
Got it, got it, got it, got it, got it. Okay,
Ben Reisnecker number one, I'll go with him. Two points
scores is first to the ohl. Gotta give it to
the young man. He played a great game, so he's
my player of the game. Handled the interview fantastically, MVP
all around tonight, I thought Ben Reznecker was fantastic. Flatyslavi
your Malaco, my big dog number two, forty two saves
(53:45):
on forty five shots, had some big time stops, you know.
Chris Bartch really talked about it. He made the saves
tonight when he had to. He was all over the crease.
We've seen that acrobatic skill before. It was nice to
see it on display here tonight, really showing that butterfly ability.
And then Keviny would be my third and final big
Dog of the afternoon. One goal to assist, three point night.
(54:07):
He had speed, assisted that Risenecker goal, opened up the
lane he was finishing his checks. Now has thirteen points
in seven games, his second consecutive three point away shell performance.
Speaker 3 (54:19):
So I love what I saw from all three of
those guys. It's tough to pick a single one of them.
Speaker 6 (54:25):
They're all big dogs for me, and yeah, they absolutely
have earned their turkey tomorrow, I'll tell you.
Speaker 1 (54:31):
That my honorable mention is ardmfro Love.
Speaker 5 (54:34):
Yeah, solid as well, how because there were some of
those plays, especially on the power play, where Sudbury had
those short handed chances and he had to make that
incredible three on one defensive stick play to be able
to break it up. He broke up a one on
one later on another shorthanded the attempt. So for me,
everything that arden Frolov brought on the offensive and defensive
side of the puck tonight, again he's not going to
(54:54):
show up on the score sheet. He did get an
assist on Kevin He's goal in the first period, But
since arden Frolov has been back reacquired from Flint, I've
really loved everything he's brought back there as a mobile,
offensively gifted player, but then also making those plays defensively
and being able to get back on seb rat of
three on one short handed.
Speaker 1 (55:13):
To me, that's a plint. It's not going to show
up in the score sheet, but it was a big
momentum in the game.
Speaker 6 (55:18):
That's the kind of guy that he is. Though fro
Love doesn't show up in the box score now he's
going to He's gonna get his assists, he's gonna get
his cake, right, you know, as an offensive defenseman, but
he's got so many other facets to his game, and
it's it was really nice to see that on display
here today, but big part of the Ice Dog's victory
for sure, and such a talented defenseman. I wish I
(55:38):
could play Mike arden fro Love all right. I considered
myself to be an offensive defense nowhere near that level
of skill, but I really appreciate his game. And you know,
it's you know, major junior hockey up and down the roster.
You could pick any single player tonight for the Niger
Ice Dogs. They all played fantastic.
Speaker 3 (55:55):
It was a team win. The Ice Dogs get two
points here at home.
Speaker 5 (55:59):
Absolutely so no postgame show next week for the Saturday
game against the Eerie Odders, but we will be back
the following week with a couple of home games for
the Ice Dogs as well, and they're gonna have a
three and three that weekend, so it's gonna be tough.
They've got two home games and then a road game
as well, so they're gonna want to take advantage of
this easy home and home with the Erie Odders, even
(56:20):
though it's not gonna be easy travel wise, it's easier,
but again with this rivalry.
Speaker 1 (56:24):
Week coming up, it's gonna be fun as well.
Speaker 5 (56:26):
But again, happy thank Canadian Thanksgiving to everybody here and
all the Americans listening to us think that we're crazy
having it so early in October, but we still get

(56:47):
our ticket giveaway as well, for those that continue to
listen and watch us throughout the season, and as well
to the players, the coaching staff, and everybody that supports
and is a part of this organization. It really puts
into perspective, and I guess two days like this when
it comes to Thanksgiving things that you sort of reflect on.
It's it's nice to be able to do this sort
of thing for a job, and it's a privilege to
(57:09):
you know, be here every single game.
Speaker 6 (57:11):
For me, I could say the exact same thing. I'm
thankful to you, mister Kapudo for giving me the opportunity
this year. I'm having an absolute blast doing this. And
to the listeners, I have to be thankful for you
as well for allowing me to be here. I really
appreciate the opportunity. I don't take it for granted. Thankful

My sister, my twin, my rock, I love you as well, Sophie.
And to my parents, Mom and Dad, I'm thankful for
you doing everything that you guys do for me, top
(57:53):

knows I can't cook, and I am very thankful for
you for that and everything else. I can't say enough
good things everybody in my life. Thank you for giving
me the opportunity to be here today, and you know,
to grow into the young man that I am currently,
and you know, just uh, you know, top to bottom,
(58:14):
I'm happy to be here, happy to be alongside you. Brandon,
and I couldn't be thankful for more on this Thanksgiving Sunday.
Speaker 5 (58:21):
Yeah, I should thank my family as well. Shout out
to to my mom, my dad, my grandmother and our
dogs as well. So and to all the colleagues here
are great colleagues here, all great.
Speaker 6 (58:32):
Yeah, Denise, Rob the Hood, Royle Potris, Bill, you name it, everybody,
those guys, they all do. Darren Sawyer, the producer of
Kajigo your TV. That man does not get enough credit.
He is the the the Jesus of the production the
flow TV broadcast in here. He does a fantastic job,
(58:52):
so top to bottom everybody here at the Meridian Center
into our listeners as well. Thankful for you guys. I
feel like that's that's got to be up there as well.
Speaker 5 (59:01):
Eh yeah, come on, oh yeah, I thank him, don't worry.
And owner Darren de Dobbler as well. We saw him
three game as well, and he was in good spirits
as well, so good to see him. So that's gonna
wrap it up for our nig Rice Dog's game recap
right here on the Dog Pound Podcast, the official podcast
