Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey guys, this is Annie Bosco and you're listening to
the Backstage Pass with Brandon on KKTC True Country ninety
nine point nine.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
And welcome inside the Backstage Pass. Always a busy day
and we did not slow down after sixty interviews there
at CRS last week there in Nashville, Tennessee at the
Omni Hotel, presented by our friends over at the Caaden
Gordon Show dot com. Today's best country mix out there
the Sports Guys Podcast dot com. And now we're proud
to say, wherever you find your podcast, we're there the
Backstage Pass powered by the Sports Guys Podcast dot com.
(00:30):
KKTC True Country ninety nine point nine. She's True Country.
She's headlining the Houston Livestock Showing Rodeo at the Champion
Winegarden coming up this weekend. Here as we kick off
rodeo season in Houston, Texas. Down in my neck of
the woods, the great Annie Bosco here on the show.
Any how you doing.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
I'm doing great?
Speaker 4 (00:46):
How are you doing?
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Brandon?
Speaker 2 (00:47):
It's good to see you back in the home studio.
Like I miss Nashville already, you know, I really do.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Yeah, it was fun. CRS was such a fun. It's
a fun time to see everybody. Everybody's in one place
and everybody gets sick and everyone and everyone's like hunger
over on Friday.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
It's really funny. Yeah, good times, good times.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Everybody was hungover and of course, uh Chase Matthew at
the Rhyman last week too, so a lot of people
who went out to Jason Alden's bar and had like
the after party. It was. It was a lot of fun,
no doubt.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Nice, I see you in the after parties. I just
do like the all day parties. And then now I'm
like at the place where I'm like, if I'm not
on the road traveling, once the sun goes down, I'm like,
all right, time for bed, time to go home.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
I felt like that. Now I will say I did
better this year, and I got in before midnight every night,
so it was it was pretty good. So I did well.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
I was gonna say you did better than you, but
I'm like, no, I did better than I think. I
still did better than you, no pun intended.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah, I just couldn't handle. At one o'clock o'clock in
the morning, my eyes started seeing different things and I went, yeah,
I get it.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
I was I was plugging my song better than you.
I'm just finding like ways to like lyrically plug.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
It, which is cool. Hey, big names this weekend, tell
everybody about it. Like I mentioned that Champion Wine Gone
and playing this Houston Stock Show of Rodeo. It's Rodeo
season March twenty third, Barbecue Cookoff. This has to be exciting,
no doubt, right.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
I've heard it's crazy. People are like, You've never seen
so much barbecue in your life. I love barbecue. Sorry,
I know I live in Tennessee, but I'm going to
go Texas Barbecue over Tennessee because I'm more about the cow,
not the pig. Not into the pig barbecue so much,
not the pulled pork. I'm like, really, when you can
have brisket, I just that's me personally. So I'm excited
(02:28):
for the barbecue and then also playing the barbecue contest.
But I'm also gonna sing the national anthem on March fourth,
and they tele advise it, I guess every night for
the Houston Rodeo, which is so cool.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
I think that you got to put it on there
a whole one of our home station. I believe it
got Space City Home Network, which is the Astros and
the Rocket station down here. I think they're gonna be
televised somewhere on that channel Space City Home Network too
as well. But hey, you've got a new one out too,
when you have a chance to talk about there at
the OMNI during CRS. But help me make it through
the night that classic country song. Tell me how this
came together and what a great rendition you did, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
I was raised on traditional country music because of my dad.
He growing up as a farmer and loves old school countries.
So we literally drive around this truck listening to country music,
driving through the fields. That's really where it started. And
I think my love of traditional country music started. I
want to say I saw Chris Christofferson being honored at
(03:24):
an event somewhere in Nashville and Patty Griffin saying helped
me make it through the night, And it was just
this like soul piercing rendition of this song. And then that,
you know, as I moved to Nashville like nineteen years
ago to do this. So this is I'm going on
the I'm going on the two decade overnight success journey here.
And you know, the more I got into songwriting and
(03:46):
living in Nashville, the more I started to study songwriters,
study the greats, and Chris Christofferson being one of them obviously,
and so just fell in love with him and his artistry.
And I started to cover the song live and people
were like, man, you really sing that song so differently
from anyone else, from like Derk Spentley to Joe Nichols.
Everyone would comment on it, like, oh my god, when
(04:08):
you sang that song in this set, it was so beautiful.
So I thought, you know what, why not just put
make my own version of it and put it out there.
And obviously losing him, you know, this past year was
devastating to the world, so just try to, you know,
also pay homage to him. Just one of the greatest
renaissance men artists of all time.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Certainly was no doubt too. Hey, talk about twenty twenty
four in a blur, because I know, like it was
my best year, for the broadcast year and for my
show for you. Musically, it just went by, I'm sure,
just like you know, traffic going down a freeway going
eighty miles per hour. You're not supposed to eighty, but hey,
you know sometimes we do. But hey, it was a yeah,
big year for you in twenty twenty four, kind of
reflect on that for your career.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
It was wild.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
I lived in airports because I did radio tour and
then regular tour. So I think, yeah, it's it's a commitment,
you know, it's a commitment, and.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
It just changes. It's I feel like it evolves.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
You have these peaks, you have these valleys, you have mountains,
you have like stretches of plateau. You know, you we
realize you're like, oh my gosh, it's like this never
ending journey that we're on right and sometimes all the
good stuff is happening at once, sometimes the bad stuff
and sometimes things you feel like you're on a rocket ship,
(05:24):
and then sometimes you feel like nothing's happening. But I
would say that last year was the biggest year of
my career with all the exciting things that happened for me, and.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
You know, I'm grateful.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
I guess that it maybe took a little bit longer
to get there because I think I was probably more
prepared for it.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Yeah, you know, it's like you said, those baby steps,
and we always want instant gratification. But I'll tell you this.
You know, being in the music business and the broadcast business.
There is no such thing as insta gratification out there.
It's the hard work, it's the grind, it's the going
to Nashville and when you're tired, you know for yourself
putting out singles. You got a chance to work with
just one of the greats of all time that we
did a show with last year, with Joe Nichols. I
(06:03):
know that song. We're to play in here a little bit.
Thank you everybody. It really changed your career and of course,
like you mentioned already, a big year coming off of that,
playing all these live shows, living in airports, in and
out of airports. But this song, and he did still
well for you on Brown Sellars Brown and of course
Courts Hill Records.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Better than you.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
I just felt like it was sort of undeniable. Everyone
that heard it was like, yes, yes, that song, that song,
that song, and it's hard. You don't get that, you
know what I mean, You don't get like you don't
get that kind of response from everyone. Usually it's like
we like it, we don't like it. It's usually mixed, so
very rarely do you hear from a lot of people
love it, love it, love it, And that was just
(06:41):
the response with that song. I think it's it's impactful.
It's a really beautiful melody, and I think a lot
of people can relate to it.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
We're gonna relate to it right now. KKTC True Country
ninety nine point nine. It's Andy Bosco and it's better
than You. The duet with Joe Nichols took the world
by storm and country music last year. In twenty twenty four,
Here it is Craig it A.

(11:37):
on the quiet right now too till we negotiate that
too as well. Back here at Brandon morel Andy Bosco
Better than You with the duet with Joe Nichols. You
know I mentioned there last year too, not just that song,
but Cash came out and this really resonated with a
lot of fans. Talk talk to everybody about this one,
because what another special song.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
Yeah, this was a fun one.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
It actually was born out of like playing in a prison.
I literally went to go play a prison show for
my friend and I know I was playing for the girls.
Didn't always playing for the guys. And when I left,
I was like, all right, the next time you're playing
in a men's prison, you're going to have something that
you can like rock their socks off with, Like we
got to rock out and have.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Something that they can identify with.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
And obviously Johnny Cash was known, you know, for going
in the prisons and for playing for people, so really
it was a nod to him, you.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Know last November too. I remember when this came out.
I loved it because right there close to Christmas. I
always try to do shows up until that holiday season.
It would be a nice, well deserved break. But Silent
Night came out, and what a huge rendition you did
with this Christmas too.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Thank you, thanks for your support and for being so
emphatic about it.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Oh yeah, it's just a it's the night that Jesus
was born. And it's like I just every year Christmas
in church singing Silent Night, like the harmonies, people singing
that song together. There's something so uniquely special about it.
And so again it was one of those things I'm like, man,
I always wanted to do my own version, and so
we did it.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Yeah, he did a fantastic job too. And yeah we
got to have here on the show, my friend, because
we're emphatic. We got to have just that positive energy
flowing all the time. You do tell me about getting
with Dwight yoakum on heartburn. I want to know all
about this when you get to a chance to ask
you that at the OMNI. But what another fantastic do it.
Speaker 10 (13:23):
I was.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Playing a gig and his wife came and brought him
and that sort of started the beginning of a friendship
and getting to know them. And I want to say
it was years ago after the CMA Awards. I just
walked up to them, I don't have to party and
just said, oh my gosh, I'm the biggest fan you know.
And so then she started following me, and then it
(13:47):
sort of started a friendship and they started to follow
my career and I have so much to be thankful for.
I told him it was during COVID I didn't have
a record deal. I said, I'm trying to make my
first album. I just did a song with Raul Mallow
and if you'd be willing, it would be just a
dream come true.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
And he said yes, his acting too, because I go
back to four Christmases and I know everybody.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Loves that movieling blade. He's brilliant. He is brilliant, is.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
Superrilliant, super talented. And also another one. I loved it
mad because it really brought people into just that positive
aspect of life. Any the Vince Guilty and higher ground.
This is just another fantastic in your catalog too.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Yeah, that was a special one. He really kind of
changed my life in a lot of ways. I had
moved home and I didn't know what steps were next
for me. During the pandemic, I said, I'll go back
to Nashville and I got to get a gig.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
I got a gig.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
I bumped into him and he said, well, I want
to sing him play on something that you're doing. And
so that really sort of gave me the vote of
confidence to go full force of my career after that
that he would have like that faith in me and
offer that. At that point, it was like, Okay, you
really got to do a you got to go make
a project, You got to do some do with them,
you need to like really go.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
Through with this.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
I have a fantastic do it out there too. Let
me ask you this, and we probably talked a little
bit about this at CRS the same time, But this
latest women's movement, you're right there included with it. But
just seeing what ladies done over the last couple of
years and Megan BRONI, so many others, what's this you
know meant for you in this women's move now in
country music?
Speaker 1 (15:20):
I think it's awesome and it's needed because I remember
as a kid, you know, being in the nineties, it
was like all these females, awesome female artists that were
all and I think, I'm like, man, wonder that wave
gonna come again because everything's cyclical, right, so hopefully that's
what's happening.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
So too, and getting diligence now to put all these
great ladies on the map, because I'll tell people all
the time I interview more females on this show than
I do male country artists. It just happens that way.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
So that's that's cool. Well, thank you for that, Brandon, Thank.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
You say it's something I like to do. And like
you said, hey, it's it's it just gets around, like
I said, all the shows and hey, I don't ignore
the pres I get the pitch. I get too. It's
always uh female artist that it is male artists. Like
I said, flip a coin. Awesome crazy times we're in
now too, because it's so saturated now with so much
talent out there too, not just these shows now American Idol,
(16:16):
The Voice. I'm getting into what Kelsey Vallerini's doing for
The Voice already, Great coach, after watching a few episodes,
give me some thoughts on these reality shows and how
they're changing the industry today with with all this great talent.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
I did American Idol years ago, I didn't get very
far on it.
Speaker 8 (16:30):
I call it.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
I got to an American not idle. I always tell
people that joke. I think it's great.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
I think that anyway you can get exposed, everyone has
their own journey, their own you know, way of making
it and so and it's hard.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
It's so hard to make it.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
That my my rule thumb is, hey, you know what,
whatever you got to do to make it. I mean,
look at Carrie Underwood. You know, it's it's amazing. So
I think that it's an incredible platform and a great
way to get exposure.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
It is no doubt too. And I think the coaching too,
with those judges each season, I can't believe the Voice
is like season twenty seven now, this is crazy what
these coaches are doing on there too, to help shape
these artists, to teach them everything that you know about
the music business. All right, I'm gonna go back to
old school Andy Bosco too, because you know, we do
our homework here on the program. Honckey Talk Highway. Yeah,
(17:22):
story of that one too.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Yeah, that's a fun one.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
That one I performed that at the Rose Parade on
a float, and I think I sang it like seventy
times in a row.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
The voice was tired after that, right, oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Yeah, But it's a fun one. I usually close my
set with it. It's always a barn burner. People are
always rocking out to it. It's always just a great
way to end the set.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
And yeah, a fun song.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
I love it too. And this one's also fun too,
because I try to have a man cave every now
and then too. Put those lights out there too. But
I want to get a sign and I want to
get this. It's like, we gotta play it here right now.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
KKTC True Country ninety nine point nine, it's Eddie Bosco
and Neon Baby playing it right now too. On your
station out there too. For True Country ninety nine point nine,
it's Eddie Bosco. She's gonna be your neon Baby. You'll
get the gist of this one coming right back. Stay two.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Baby, what you say we say so longly bright?
Speaker 9 (18:37):
After this song, I've been dancing around with you when
all I want to do is dance you back home,
to step me through the kitchen to the bedroom with
nothing all put the candle on.
Speaker 13 (18:56):
The metal and some final play and Haggard John.
Speaker 9 (19:02):
I'll be here, knee off, baby, I'll have you midnight
gre easy.
Speaker 14 (19:12):
I'll let she'll lift side whisking when you lean into,
kiss me, boo the whiskey down and kiss me.
Speaker 4 (19:19):
I get and I get Curney off a bear me off.
Speaker 13 (19:27):
Baby, a cowboy, give me that cowboy hat and watch
this cowgirl a lot of the room.
Speaker 14 (19:39):
No, nothing gets me buzzing like the Then are you.
Speaker 8 (19:46):
I'll be here knee off, baaby, I'll have your midnight crazy.
Speaker 14 (19:56):
I'll let she'll lift side westing when you leave giddens.
Speaker 9 (20:00):
To kiss me, pull that whiskey down and kiss me.
Speaker 6 (20:04):
I kiss and I can't turn me off.
Speaker 12 (20:08):
A be on me of.
Speaker 9 (20:12):
Baby.
Speaker 13 (20:32):
Let's gore up another one because we ain't done until.
Speaker 8 (20:36):
The sun comes up and when it goes back down again.
I'll be your knee or baby. I'll drive your midnot greasy.
Speaker 6 (20:53):
Ill.
Speaker 14 (20:54):
It's like whisking when you lean INTI kiss me, pull
that whiskey down.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
Excuse me again and again.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
Journey on a b ond, Yeah, Journey on a.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
Stayby Yeah Journey.
Speaker 8 (21:44):

sixty interviews. She was one of them. Manny Pasco Country
Radio Seminar twenty twenty five is in the books, and
I'm so glad we're back here with any on the
show too. To catch up and do a follow up dude.
Next year. They moved it to March CRS twenty twenty
six March eighteen.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
But it'll be warmer, it'll be warmer.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
I don't want to drive in snow. I'm just not
even more. Yeah, So we'll be there March twenty twenty six.
Of course, coming up our next time there Cema week
coming up there in June to start planning that out
right now, never a dull moment in the media broadcast business.
All right, tell everybody about it in that New Mexico,
Colorado audience. Neon baby, because that is just what an
(23:02):
arrangement you did with this too, and.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
I love it, thank you.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
There's there's so many male songs about like romance, and
like I want romance tonight. I'm like, you know how
girls want romance too, So that's what this was. It
was like, man, girls don't sing about they want romance too,
but we do too, right, So like that's kind of
where this came from. And I wrote it with Jeffrey
Steel Bridgetatum, phenomenal songwriters, and it just kind of fell
(23:29):
up very easy. We were throwing out names like Crystal
Gale and like fun like retro throwback but still today
and so yeah, so that's that's what came out.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
What came out was fantastic. Hey, I want to get
to a show, Like I said, I will miss the
Houston thing coming up this week and that Champion Wade Guard.
Look forward to seeing you, you know, down the road
to it at one of those live shows. Give me
the best part of being you and being on stage
in front of an audience.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
It's my favorite thing in the world to do. Favorite Like,
I just love to put on show.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
As of recent I've incorporated now I'm an incorporated Blues
Harmonic gun to my show and line dance, So usually
jump off the stage if at some point to do
a line dance with the audience. So I'm always trying
to grow and think of, like what can I do
to make it fun for them? Because I enjoy being entertained.
I loved watching entertainers and so I was like, man,
what can I do? I'm always trying to think of
(24:22):
how I can improve my live show.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
That's the best part. I've never heard anybody say that,
like how can they improve the live show?
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Made a good like make it more fun for people,
because you know, you go to a show where everyone's
just like.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
And I'm like, I don't ever want that ever, you know,
And the second I see someone that maybe has lost interest,
I'm like, ooh.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Got to rework.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
Okay, what am I gonna do?
Speaker 9 (24:46):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (24:46):
Like all I go into like supercharge mode, like what
can I I think I have an obsession with wanting
to like put on the best show possible.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Yeah, that's keep improving at your craft too. Hey, take
me back to the EP we mentioned Neon Baby when
it came out last year in January. He Gone was
on their boots on another fantastic song. You guys put
out great catalog, great work for that EP.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Yeah, it was really it was fun to put that
one together and.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
To release it.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
And this year there'll be a single coming out every
five weeks and then an album in the fall. So
we're really excited to put that plan together, keep the momentum,
keep releasing new music and then bam, follow up the
full album.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
Oh I can't wait to everybody talking about all these
singles and that full album coming out there too. You
check out any busco dot com for all the great
tour dates merchandise out there too. Don't forget to do
that for all our artists out there, all right. I
went down to Hattie Bees. While I was there, head
my hot Chicken, went to five point Buddy Mind Radio promotions.
We did some pizza which was really good. What was
(25:55):
your best meal? CRS Week?
Speaker 3 (25:58):
I didn't eat here Las week.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
I was like literally talking interviews every day all day
and went straight home, so like, I don't even think
I ate.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
Oh I did do a lunch at the hotel all
about one day. That was pretty good.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
No, see, we live here, so it's a little different.
I'm like, we get this food all the time, you know,
when you're visiting.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
It's like, okay, we've got to hit all the Nashville spots.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
I'm like, well, we eat there like all the.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
Time, So bart taco I gotta do that next time, right.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
It's pretty good.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
My favorite is Moss Tacos in East Nashville.
Speaker 10 (26:29):
Good.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
My hot chicken Manhatti Bees. It was just so good.
I loved it.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
It's so good. Yeah, yeah, it is. It's what we're
known for.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
The medium was enough for me this time. I got
the mile that latined a couple of years ago, and
the medium was just like the perfect spice.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
Yep, no thanks medium. Yeah, I hear you. I know
one time it like almost burnt my lips off. I
thought I had got hiccups.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
I was like, Okay, that was a little dangerous. I
think we're gonna go with the medium next time.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
I now. Five point was actually really good too. I know,
slim and Huskies. Where's your pizza? Pizza place there.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
I don't know if it's still around, but I used
to love Disono's.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
I haven't heard of them.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
They baked the bread fresh there. Oh it's so good. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
If it's not here, if they moved it used to
be in Midtown, I would be very sad. My fave.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
I gotta try that one too, all right, have a
little fun here.
Speaker 9 (27:27):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
If Annie Bosco were to get in the wrestling ring
quartograph everything, have fun with it, like the OLDWWE stuff.
Who would beat her opponent? Who would she take on?
Speaker 1 (27:37):
I'm going to get in trouble for anyone that I
would say, so I might have to decline. I might
have to plead the fifth on this one.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
I'm like, I don't know, I can't really I'll tell
you what I think could like beat my ass.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
I'm I do not put me in a ring with
Carrie Underwood or Miranda Lambert because those girls could probably
take me down.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Okay, just saying you will.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Say, Jerry Underweather, They're like, no, just look at look
at the legs, man, look at the way she works out.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
I'm saying, yeah, yeah, And I have to think about
that and get back to you.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
Brandon okay, all right, we'll take the fifth on that
one too, which will be good. And I'll tell where
I got that from. We get a show before I
got to Nashville, Christian Bush and just gave me the idea.
We did one half of sugar Land and he was like, yeah, man,
just come up with something fun and just ask him
that if you want to take that's fine, but how female?
Who would get the wrestling ring with it? I told
him myself, Well, one of my ideas is to actually
(28:30):
do it first ever backstage past like wrestling type event
in downtown nas everything.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Yeah, during CRS you should. I think you asked me.
You asked me this question at CRS.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
Too, I did.
Speaker 11 (28:43):
Well.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
