(00:39):
Sports Guys podcast dot com, TCHWN dot orgon anytime out there,
top search result of iHeartRadio podcast. We'll tell you what
she's on this season's of the Voice, so season twenty eight.
I believe this is hard to believe. They're I'll go
on almost thirty years now. She's kicking ass and taking
names of the competition out there too. It's safe to
say that here on the podcast, we can do it.
We hope she wins it. No offense to the other contestants,

(01:01):
but she's got a hell of a voice, and she's
kind of enough to join us here on this very
radio show. Corey Kennedy to the broadcast, Corey, how you doing,
my friend.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
I'm doing fining and Andy yourself.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
It's good, you know. Finally, I'll say, Texas weather has
been acceptable over the last week and a half. To
get these cool temperatures. I'm sure California is always great
year round, except for probably the summertime. But good to
see you on the show. And how you enjoying the
weather in Kelly.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Well, right now, I am actually in Tennessee.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Jenessee, Okay, and I've been I'll tell.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
You what I've been hopping all over. I'm originally from Minnesota.
I just recently moved to Tennessee, so heat wave for me.
So I cannot complain about the weather at all because
in Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
She's getting real chilly, no doubt too. And I know
you guys get into those live shows. That's where you
want to be in the coming weeks two for the
broadcast of the Voice coming up there on NBC Hey,
tell us about this, I mean far as what you
can so far, the ride, the competition, the videos that
people have seen, the battle rounds. Of course, obviously you're
going up there to get those chair turns out there too.

(02:01):
We had many contestants come by here on this very
show and talk about whether it's a two chair, three chair,
four chairs, just to be a part of that and
get the coaching you guys are getting. What's your experience
been like so far on this season's version of the show,
and talk to me about where you guys are in
the competition as of now.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Yeah, I mean right now, we're currently in the knockouts.
So I've made it through my blind audition.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
That was awesome. I got to sing on Whyo in
a judge song. I sang why not Me Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:28):
And I think the last time that song was done
on the show is maybe like ten years ago.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
I think it was released in nineteen eighty four. So
I got an.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Oldieuddy Goody, I got two chair turns. I got Michael
Bublay and then the Reba McIntyre.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
So I leaned towards Reva. That woman's a legend.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Love her to pieces, yeah, and then we moved down
to the battle rounds and I got to sing a
really kick ass song with Aubrey Nicole. We got to
sing something bad by Miranda Lambert and Kerry Underwood and
I'll tell you what, that song's a tall drink of water.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
But we did it and we had a lot of
fun with it.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
And yeah, now we move out of the knockouts, and
you know, they don't tell They don't tell us when
we're going on necessarily, so we're in the dark, just
like everybody else.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
So we're sitting at home waiting just like everybody.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
That coaching is so valuable to get that kind of
feedback after you perform a song. Talk about that for
me too, because you got four legends sitting up there too,
doing in their respective genre of music, and for some
of them it's a crossover genre from all the success
they've had too. But what's that coaching and that feedback
like every time after you perform.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
I mean it's really crazy, just not even the coaching alone,
but just like.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Being in the same room and breathing the same air
as all of them.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Like when the blind auditions are going all we're all
waiting backstage, and you know, we've been rehearsing in band
practice and all this jazz, and then you hear Carson
Daley announcing these coaches and you hear them talking like
on the sound system. We're like, oh my gosh, like
Nia horns like right behind this curtain, and Snoop Dogg
is right out there. And you walk on stage and
like you see these four massive chairs because the room

(03:57):
is dark when you walk out there, and they're just
like the fore just illuminated in the dark and red
and you're like, oh my god, they're sitting right there,
like forty feet away from you. But it's just been
awesome because like each coach, I know, everyone picks their
certain coach, but oh my gosh, you get such great
feedback and stuff even from the other coaches after your performance,
and it's just so cool one that your name is

(04:18):
even in their mouth. And two it's just been awesome.
And I've loved learning from Riba because I my songwriting
and my own personal music is a lot of storytelling stuff,
and like no one tells a better story or obviously like.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Gets it through to an audience like Riba.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
So oh my gosh, I was just tickled pink to
be able to learn from her and it's been great.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
When they had the open casting or open auditions, that
should say was this something you kind of knew you
were gonna just take a swing at to see what happens?
Or is this something i've sometimes, well, my friend did
this or my family ever signed me up for this,
And I wasn't sure I was gonna do it because
you'd already had some success there Middle Tennessee right there,
being in Nashville and being a country artist too as well,
great social media following. So is this something you're like,
I'm just gonna take a swing at and see where

(04:59):
it goes? Or was this like being kind of pushed
by a family member or friend.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
It actually wasn't on my radar at all. So at
the time, I was a furniture salesman. Hey, but uh yeah,
selling commercial furniture. I had I was doing music on
the side a little bit in Minnesota at the time,
and I had just got back from a work conference
and they get you all fired up.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
So I was like, oh my gosh, I'm gonna be the.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Best furniture salesman you've ever seen. I'm gonna be so awesome.
And then you know in southeast Minnesota, there's not a
whole lot of outlets for necessarily music, but especially country music.
So I was I felt like I was really stuck,
and so I had just told my fiance. I was like, hey,
you know, I think I'm gonna just do music on
the side as a hobby and I'm gonna.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Just really focus on selling furniture.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
And then literally a week later, a talent scout from
the show reached out because they had saw my social
media and that was back in February, and so I
was like, oh my gosh, I thought it was being
punked because they were He was like, oh, it's the voice.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
I'm like, oh, hey, the voice. He's like, let's jump
on a call. I'm like, okay, no, Ed. It was Peter.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Then.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
He's an absolute honey bunny.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
He was just a peach and I he was like, Corey,
thanks for getting on the call. I said, oh my gosh,
Peter thinks for being real. I thought you're fake.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Yeah, And it was just so awesome.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
And so obviously you go through these rounds of casting
and whatnot. But then in that time, so that was
obvious February when that happened, and then in March. I
had my song on TikTok go uber viral to like
sixteen million views, and so we would be in those
meetings for the Voice stuff, and like we would like
the casting director.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Her name is Michelle. She's totally awesome. She'd be like,
oh my gosh, Corey. There's Corey going viral right now.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
And I'm like, oh my gosh, Like I don't even
have my audio arm, like where do I even find it?
But yeah, so I definitely think that helped me get
out there because obviously they make a lot of cuts beforehand.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
So just the right place, the right time, just bonkers.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
It really is crazy. That's so it's always is is
God's hands, not our hands. Right place, right time too.
And I got a question for buddy out there. We're
gonna answer it to coming back here and the time
to play some music here on the backstage pass. She
knows what I'm going with this. Corey Kennedy joining us
here on season twenty eight of that very show, The
Acclaimed Voice nb C. Out there. The question is, Hey,
who shot the water tower? We're gonna play for you

(07:16):
right here too on the backstage pass. Corey Kennedy here
k YBN ninety eight point one, your Bay Area broadcasting network,

I know you guys would love that song there. Hey,
who shot the water tower? We're gonna get the answer
here back here with Corey Kennedy on the Backstage Pass
KYBN ninety eight point one, your Bay Area Broadcasting Network
and our friends out there to THWN dot org for
tar Heel World Network out there too, Corey Kennedy joining
us here too. So I love the thought of that.
You mentioned the cuts there too, and all these songs
that viral there too before being on this season's NBC's

(14:11):
The Voice too at the same time. But looking back
at this one, I love it because you've got the
old school sound in you two, and I know that's
probably what you loved you're growing up on two. There's
actually a rendition you did have a George Jones song
We're Gonna talk About two is all I got to
hear for the first time they which is fantastic too.
But how did the backstory of this one come together?
Because there's so many good flavors for this song. I
love it.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Yeah, When I wrote Hayes Shot the water Tower, Oh,
it was a Sunday afternoon, and I'm scrolling around on
Instagram because when I wrote, the incident of the water
tower shooting happened like three years ago. So I'm watching
this video and I am laughing so hard because you know,
whether or not it's hilarious, it's super funny.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
And I was like, if that's.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Not the most Johnny Cash thing I've ever heard in
my whole life, like he would probably be the one
to shoot the water tower, honestly, And I was like, Oh,
we gott to write something. And so, like I grew
up on really old country music, so like a lot
of especially with my grandparents because like my grandma and grandpa.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
They don't have like a family picture in the kitchen.
They have John Wayne framed in the kitchen.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
So we listened to a lot of Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, Dolly,
Geenie c Riley, old artists like that, and so I
love that sound. But I also like, my dad's a
total metal head in rock music, but like I think
rock music has some of the best story songs, So
I love doing story songs. I was like, Okay, we
need to do something Johnny Cash style.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
So I had to do my research on it.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
I was like, okay, let's see who shot it, like
who did what, Let's let's.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
Talk about it.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Oh yeah, and I just want to make it something
super fun and lighthearted and funny, because it was.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
But then the whole thing like it's snowballed.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
So the video made its way because it happened in Kingsland, Arkansas.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
The video made it to Kingsland, Arkansas. So I got
people from the town.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
They're like, I'm from Kingsland, Oh my gosh, my dad
was the judge on this case, and oh my gosh,
my you know, my uncle's the sheriff and blah blah blah.
And then some of Johnny Cash's family members because that's
his hometoime, they reached out. So I got to be
on a podcast and talk with some of them, and
I was like, oh gosh, I hope I'm not like
mad to me. But they loved it, so I was like, okay,
who it was great? Yeah, it was wild. The guy

(16:10):
who shot the water tier of himself, he says allegedly,
but he reached out to me and we got to
chit chat. So it was funny because I got to
hear the story from people from the town, from people
from law enforcement, and from the guy who shot at himself.
So yeah, it was crazy. It was a fun story
and it hit home for people.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
In Arkansas there.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
It's a really great song and a great cutout there too.
I love it so much to it and it really
show showcases your vocals as an artist too, and really
just love it. And I'm sure this you know, we
talk about this competition too, how fierce it is, and
of course everybody becomes friends. And I will say a
great friend of mine, a great friend of the show,
and how I got to meet you through that too.
I loved her name, Jackie Rore, just a great name

(16:53):
out there too. She's kicking some mass too. In fact,
she just signed with Kim Kate Entertainment, one of the
top entertainment agencies in Nashville too as well, So congratulations
to her too, and just a tremendous all around person.
We've hung out in Nashville several times when I've done
my show live from the different CRS, and of course
CM a week up there too. The biggest part about
competing in something like this is you're you're up against

(17:15):
some extreme talent. But I want to ask you about
just in general being in the performing arts. Kennedy. When
you guys take that stage, the lights come on, you
got the microphone in your hand, you're about to built
out that first note, what kind of goes through your mind?

Speaker 1 (17:28):
I don't know, you kind of slip and you just
kind of slip into this alter ego. And like, especially
when we did something bad, because that's a badass songs,
I'm like, Okay, here it comes out, Here comes Corey's
in her badass.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
Here we go. But it was a really different experience.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
For me because before going out there, I had never
performed with a full band.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
It's just been me and my guitar.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
So but I didn't want to tell the show that
because I didn't want them to like eliminate me. So
they were like, you're going to band practice, and I
was like, oh, yeah, another band practice.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
I had never been in that band practice, so I
was like, we're just gonna figure it out.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
So I dove in, like totally over heels and just
bought into the process.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
And yeah, just saying my face off.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
But it is so crazy because obviously, like a show
like that, they love to bring a ton of different voices,
so you almost get this imposter syndrome, like what am
I doing here?

Speaker 3 (18:13):
These people are incredible. It's like no, like you gotta
gotta like get yourself back in the game. You're like, no,
you belong here.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
So but it was crazy even like some people obviously
like Jackie Rohor because I have I watched her season
and she's just a total badass. So then she's messaging
me and I'm.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
Like this, this life is crazy, and like she is
the nicest, nicest person. So I don't know. It's just
been so awesome.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
And you get people from you know, a different fan
base and whatnot reaching out and but.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Yeah, when you take the stage, like they prep you
pretty well. You get to do so you get your
stage rehearsals and band rehearsals and whatnot.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
But there's a lot of just you know, you really
gotta believe in yourself because they're like self doubt can
set in really quick when you're out there, but you
just got to block it out and just.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Go out there and do your thing.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
What's harder the wardrobe choice or the lyrics to the
song you're about to sing to America a little bit
of both.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
I mean, especially because like wardrobe, I had never worked
with a stylist before, so as they build your outfit,
you kind of have some faith because when they forged,
like the blue suit that I wore, when they first put.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
It on me, I was like, what am I wearing?

Speaker 1 (19:19):
And then like they obviously build it and they have
a seamstress there and she's pinning up your.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Clothes and whatnot, so it is really cool. You get
to play dress up a little bit.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
But even like the words of the songs, like when
we say something bad. I don't know if you know this,
but there's a lot of words in that song, so
we're like belting our faces off, we're like kind of
you're almost rapping. And also you have to work the
stage on that song, because that song gonna be a
little weird if I just stood in the middle of
the stage.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
So it's like it's it's all the bells and whistles.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
It's a lot, no doubt, ude, a lot went through
your mind too to prep for that competition too as well.
We're gonna play another one here original cut here from
Corey Kennedy. Check her out on the Voice hereous season
twenty eight on NBC there right there in Petecock and
of course so you can check it out knockout stages

Dreams were higher and higher.

Speaker 5 (22:53):

Speaker 6 (23:33):
She loved at him as a shadow ran red abby

Speaker 5 (23:41):
He told him to show a red with the muff

Speaker 3 (23:49):
There's no balling in the fire.

Speaker 5 (23:52):

They're not threether. Their compassion will please and.

Speaker 5 (24:00):

Speaker 2 (27:29):
And back here Corey Kennedy on the program. Here the
Backstage Pass, the award nominated show KYB in ninety eight
point one, your Bay Area Broadcasting Network, and of course
our friends out there too. THWN dot org for Tarheel
World network. Check those guys out always supporting independent artists
out there too, playing a great selection of music out
there too. And of course we're rooting for her, cheering

(27:50):
her on to win the season twenty eight of The Voice.
Jackie says, she just actually texted me a few minutes ago,
did you get on I'm free on this day? I
got to promote my new single too as well, say
you never know what we're going to do here on
the show out there too, Jackie, We're gonna get back
to you, no doubt about it too, for setting all
this good stuff up out there. Force all right, So
you mentioned the catalog of songs that positive, uplifting music,
the old school kind of country sound. It did a

(28:12):
lot for me and took me back to nineties country
on this one with Lawless, tell us about this one.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
Yeah, Lawless is my baby.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
That's the first song that I had ever written, and
the inspat for that is the Marty Robins song Big Iron,
And it's like, you know, classic outlaw stuff.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
So I really want to do a story like that.
But I was like, why can't we have like a
female outlaw in there?

Speaker 1 (28:31):
So yeah, we kind of created the story of kind
of like star Cross Lovers and yeah, because I was
gonna just release the water Tower song, but I was like, wait,
I've been holding on to this song since oh God
only knows when. So we released that at the same
time as Hey shot the water Tower and that song
that is a near and dear song to me because
it's the first one I had ever written.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
So I love it.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
It's a great song. It should be your baby. They're
done too. I can't wait till they release the results,
like you said too, over the next few weeks too,
to see kind of this goes. I know you're gonna
win the knockout stage. I'm just gonna go ahead and
predict that here on the show there too, and just
go further and further in the competition out there. And
we mentioned that sports aspect, so we got to tell
everybody about this who do not know. You have a

(29:13):
special connection to sports. That's why I thought you were
a perfect figure because of music, sports and entertainment. So
talk about this in college and doing a lot of
different things where I love using these words in c
double a champ and I love saying that too as well.
Tell everybody about this too as well, and you can
put those I say, those figures in the air there too.

(29:33):
People can't see you, of course listening to the audio
stream side of things, but NC double a champ and
the connection with sports there too, because you're a hell
of an athlete and a hell of a singer.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
Yeah, I come well music. My family's not known for music.
We're known for our athletics.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
As you know. I agree up.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
I was a a three different sports All state and
all three and then I went to Minnesota State and
Cato on a softball scholarship. But it was funny because
I was really the only one who did like kind
of soft All my sisters did a little bit, but
then they quit earlier on. But then, my brothers are
all wrestlers, so we're known as being a wrestling family.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
So I've got two brothers right now who wrestle for
the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
Which is so random, but uh yeah, one he's an
All American for the Hawkeyes and the others. Uh the
other he wrestles for the Hawkeyes, but he's also a
combat medic U he's a sixty eight whiskey, so they're
both totally badass. But then me, I was like, you know,
I'm still the only one with an NCAA title. But yeah,
so I went to Minnesota stateian Kato. My sophomore year,

(30:35):
we won the national title.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
I caught all seventy one games that season. I was
a catcher. Yeah, and I'm I'm paying for it now,
don't you worry. I've I've torn acel. My rotator cup
is still torn. I've still got tormaniscus. I tore up
my achilles two years ago after the fact. So yeah,
it was great while lasted, but now the wheels are
falling off. But yeah, while I was in college, I

(30:59):
was uh a media major. So after college, I went
into broadcasting. So I was actually an on air color
analyst for professional softball, which was so awesome. It was
such a fun gig. But then COVID happened and the
league shut down. So I was like, oh, well, you know,
it was nice about lasted, But yeah, definitely come from
a much thicker sports background than I do music. So

(31:19):
I'm stepping into full whole new territory here going into music.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
So my mom, because like you know, if we were
talking about like do you hear the new NIL rules?
You hear all this and whatnot? We know it.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
We know the book in front of the back, but like,
what do you mean net and gross profit for music?

Speaker 3 (31:34):
What do you mean a label? A manager? Why would
you need a manager when you have an agent? Blah
blah blah.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
So this is all new stuff I'm learned in, but
it's like hard to even explain to my parents, like
what's going on because they're.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Like, is it like a scholarship what? We don't get it,
And I'm like, I don't either, but we'll figure it
out as we go.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
Well, give me some thoughts on that too, because there's
other pros and the cons. I've waited them both here
and I've done that, Like I said, the on air
work now for one close to thirty years in this
street now looking at all the sports things that I've
done and the athletes I've interviewed, and of course all
the commentary out I do for high school football, college
athletics and all the stuff out there, but it really
intrigues me. I guess a couple of things. One, it's
amazing that the agents have changed sports just in general,

(32:15):
especially at the college level now too, both for college
coaches that can go in there and negotiate a lifetime contract,
coach a couple of years and then get the buyouts
like Brian Kelly just did with LSU. And you look
at Jimbo Fisher at A and M and all these
things to have those kind of James Franklin at Penn Steake,
give me some thoughts on that with like how agents
have really changed the game. And you mentioned it right
there when you hit the nail on the head when

(32:36):
you said nil. That's amazing because twenty twenty five, thirty
years ago, it was about playing for the passion of
the sport. And I still think there's some ways that
college athletes still do that. But money has changed the
name of the game, hadn't it.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
Yeah, it's changed the whole world of it.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
So I graduated twenty nineteen, so it was one year
before you could make money, and I was like.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Oh my gosh, I was so upset.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
But yeah, so like obviously my brother he's an All
American in Iowa, so they take care of him very well.
And it's just it's crazy, and I do think agents
are important, especially, I mean, it's the wild thing is
we're giving so much money to.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Like seventeen eighteen, nineteen, twenty twenty one year old.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
It's crazy, and like obviously it's life change, like some
of the money is life changing. It's it's wild to
see what some of them do and what they you know,
build their platform out to be and how they take
and run with it.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
But you know, you also have a lot of people
that bowl a lot of money too.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
But it's crazy. But honestly, so I do believe athletes
deserve to get paid. Is a little over the top now, absolutely,
but I do believe they deserve to get paid because
it is it is a job that you are doing.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
I know if people might say, like.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
Oh, well your scholarship covers that, it's like scholarship covers school,
Like you still your housing, you still have, you know,
all your you know, your bills, utilities, you have, still
have meals, So like I'm really glad it's changed for
that aspect.

Speaker 3 (34:10):
But yeah, it's it's just wild to see how the
world has changed.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
And I know one of the big things too, what
what they've been dealing with is like you you know,
you pay a transfer to come in, you give them
X amount of money and then they don't perform. So
I I don't necessarily know like how it changed, But
one thing that I can see changing going forward is like, hey,
this is your gonna be your base pay. If you

(34:33):
place here, you'll get this kind of like a bonus,
you'll get this. I think that's going to come more
into play because one thing that we've seen a lot
of is you like over overpay these players and they
totally underperformed. So and then it's even the transfer portal
to has gotten so crazy now.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
I think the transfer porter is a.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
Good thing when it's needed, but it can also be
really easily abused, and especially now with like the whole
money grab too. So it's a big old mess, but
it's it's also some that's really cool, And I think
that these rules changed for the right reasons.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
And there's a.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Lot of athletes out there and a lot of coaching
staffs that definitely take care of their athletes the way
they should and they're paid handsomely, but there's also a
lot of crazy loopholes out there too, So it's a
tough one. I'll just say, I would not want to
be a college coach these days.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
Absolutely not, no way, no way, Or if.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
You sign me up, let me sign up for a year.
Just have a crappy season and get the buyout of
like what this two coaches?

Speaker 3 (35:29):
Right, yeah, like, oh no, you're gonna fire me?

Speaker 2 (35:32):
No, fifty four million, seventy million, and we're going, yeah,
we're pretty much set for We can really step inside
another locker room again too as well, because we actually
go buy an island somewhere pretty much live live on it. Right.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
It's it's crazy because even you know before what was
an Oklahoma so off ball, like Patty Gassa was like
she made she her salary is a million, and that's
like record setting the female sports, and then you see
the male sports and it's just it's not even close.
But yeah, it's I might be like, you know, where's
this money coming from? Because I would love to take
some of it because that's a big love sum.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
So yeah, yeah, because we're definitely underpaid professions out there too,
where's this coming from? And we'd like to get a
little bit a little piece of the pie, no doubt
about it too. I want to put the website out there,
Corey Kennedy dash music dot com. You guys can go
check out all the cool stuff out there too. And
Peru's that website out there too, Hey, and closing. We'll
have a little bit of fun here too. I always
say this on the show. Nashville's like a test market

(36:31):
for different type of restaurants that want to go there
and open up now. So it's really cool to see it,
like just food just all different at this city's background.
There's things in there from Indian food, like I said,
all the Mexican food out there, to Italian food. It's
just crazy going there for these last few years. I
got the hot chicken debate. I'll kind off my radars.
So Hattie Bees it was for me when you go out,

(36:52):
either coming out from a show or hanging out with friends,
things like that. Like Jackie Ripper, you know, she recommended
a bunch of places I should go try, and so
I did them, and I mean again up for everythings
she recommended out there, Like German Town's a really cool
place that Sixth Street is sixth Street. It's one of
the diners. It's open. I think that's like twenty four
to seven. But it's like the top floor gives you
a pretty good skyline view of everything too. They got

(37:12):
some really good salads there too, for people that are
like me that are trying to eat healthier now pretty
much my sarcasm. Anyway, where do you like to go out?
Where do you like to eat out?

Speaker 12 (37:20):
There?

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Just in Nashville downtown, I'll stay away from Broadway. Where
do you like to go?

Speaker 1 (37:24):
So I have not really been to Broadway yet, Like
I'm telling I'm telling you, we just moved here.

Speaker 3 (37:28):
We still have a couple of moving boxes that were
getting a box. But we found this place cause.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
Where by Goodletsville, So it's like fifteen eighteen minutes outside
of Nashville.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
But there's this place.

Speaker 1 (37:39):
It's brick oven Pizza and it's called Now, forgive me
if I'm saying this wrong out there, but it's called
like Calabria or Callabria.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
Oh my god, it is so good.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
Now, well, Eric and I we we love to get
Indian food, but so we have yet to find a
place around here yet.

Speaker 3 (37:56):
We just haven't had the time to venture out and
do it.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
But yeah, we like to treat ourselves to Calibri and
pizza because it is so darn good and you're gonna leave,
you're gonna have to unbutton your pants a little bit
because it's.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
Gonna fill you up.

Speaker 1 (38:08):
But it's one of those things you just can't stop
eating it. They'll put the whole thing in front of
you and it's gone. You go, oh my gosh, how
that happened? But it is so good. So if you're
around the good Littsville area at all, you better go
to Calbary Pizza.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
And they don't even know who I am, but I
know who they are.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
So you are there too, like yep, but here too
as well. We'll bring the food out to you.

Speaker 4 (38:25):
Dad.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
I'll be prepared to unbutton the pants there too at
the same time and have a little fun with that
to overeat when I go there too, and save the
appetite for a good restaurant like that too. Any other
hobbies or things you like to do when you get
some some downtime you're not doing music. What are some
things you like to do outdoors? Things like that.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
Yeah, I mean, I've got my yellow lab. His name
is Louis become Lufus Dufus. We we're outside a lot.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
But one thing that I do, and I'm kind of
known for it on my social media because I'm really
I like to be really funny when I do it
is I am really big into like Sourdale bread, So I.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
Make all my own sourd ough bread.

Speaker 1 (38:58):
Like the other night on my story, I was making
and chicken pop pie with my sour dough. Yeah, so
you can. I just do a lot of random things.
Oh my gosh, I can crochet. I played piano. I
don't know I'm watching.

Speaker 3 (39:12):
I have no idea. I'm so random.

Speaker 1 (39:13):
I swear I have an undiagnosed add but whatever. But
I'm never bored. I'll say that I'm never bored. I
always have something going on. But yeah, a lot of
times I'm songwriting a ton like. I love to write songs,
and my brain just don't stop working.

Speaker 3 (39:26):
So yeah, sour on songwriting.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
I guess I love that sour dough and songwriting out
there too, which is a combination we have not had
here on the show. I'm much of a bread eater.
Sour dough is a little bit better for you than
some of the bread out there too, but I love
eating it. So we'll have to do a come into town.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
You let me know, because I will till I will.
I will make you a fresh loaf.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
Okay, okay, so can we do it on the air
maybe at CRS next year in March.

Speaker 3 (39:50):
If we, Oh my gosh, I'll make a whole big batch.
I'll bring it for everybody. We can taste test it.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
I'll do with several loaves. I'll do a oh, I'll
do a cinnamon loaf, a pumpkin loaf, a rosemary garlic
chutter halpino. You let me know and I'll make them all.

Speaker 3 (40:03):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
It's just a great market for restaurants too. And I
love that German tat over there by the Sounds Ballpark.
They had one to call three one two Pizza, which
is actually Chicago style, and the olders from it actually
came from Chicago too. To open it was like a
deep dish, and man, you talk about sharing it with
some coworkers and friends. Fantastic pie. I gotta give them
one hundred and ten percent credit for good flavor. And

(40:24):
I'm gonna try the place you recommend it out there
in Goodletsville too. At the same time, well, to tell
you what, hey, best of luck continuing in because we
know you're gonna move forward. I like to make projections
here on the show before we even see them, before
I even know what's going on too. We know she's
gonna win the nuts around two. Check out the music
out there too for the songs across all these social
media platforms. Corey Kennedy on the program, looking forward to

(40:47):
many more of these shows to connect and I can't
wait to do the bread Challenge and see all this.

Speaker 3 (40:54):
Yes, thanks for having me. We will be doing this again.

Speaker 2 (40:56):
Okay, you got it, the one, the only Corey Y
