Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, y'all, this is recording artist Emmy Russell and you're
listening to a grand slam of music, sports and entertainment.
It's the award nominated Backstage Past Podcast with Brandon Morell
on KYBN ninety eight point one, your Bay Area Broadcasting Network.
Tune into the show on iHeartRadio podcast, on the Sports
Guys Podcast dot com and at THHWN dot.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Org, and welcome inside the Backstage Past, the award nominated
show of course KYB in ninety eight point one, your
Bay Area Broadcasting Network, our friends at THHWN dot org
and the Sports Guys Podcast dot com. Always out there
iHeartRadio Podcast presented by our friends over at Jksuberu jksuberu
dot com, and of course out there the Morell Law
Firm and our friends out there to Barkley Musicanmedia dot com,

(00:47):
course Kseybeck and Chandler Marie Music. Well, I'll tell you what,
she's been busy. We all have been busy. We finally
got a time here to sit down and talk with
the super talented Emmy Russell here on the Backstage Past.
Former American Eye little sweetheart. I can say that too,
because she had one hell of a story on that
very show, my friend, how.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
You doing, I'm doing so good, American Idol, sweetheart.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I love that I had to bring it up to
because you know, you had such a great story. And look,
let's start right there. We'll get to all the music
here in a little bit and we'll talk about the
new song that's coming out October the twenty fourth, right there,
week before Halloween. But you know, thinking back to that show,
I'm sure you have a lot of great just not
just memories. But what's cool about a competition like that,
and I love it, Emmy, is you get to take

(01:29):
a lot of friendships with you and I know the
competition is tough in itself. Talk about how that you
your process, how you got involved, you know, with it.
When did you kind of know this was going to be,
you know, a leap forward because it takes a lot
of confidence to do a competition like this so much.
So many people have just great musical backgrounds when they
step on this platform. And I'm sure you learned a
lot from this competition, right.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Yeah, I learned a lot. So they found me starting
off like from the beginning. They found me a couple
of years ago and they sent me a DM on
Instagram just saying hey, we would love to have you, you know,
like would you be open to trying out? You know
for American Idols. It was a casting girl and uh
they found me through a song that I released with
the song House called Skinny, and so Skinny went viral

(02:11):
and it was a song about eating disorders and there
was like over probably like nine million, ten million on
all like the TikTok and Instagram, everything kind of combined,
and so they didn't even know that my grandma my
grandma's Loretta Lynn, so they didn't even know anything about
I thought that that's how they found me. So I
was like, oh, did y'all know that? Did y'all find
me through like my grandma? And they were like, no,

(02:31):
who's your grandma? And I said, uh, Lauretta Lyne and
they were like, uh no. Then, you know, I don't
think the girl, the casting agent really knew who that was.
And so I was like, oh, okay, and she was like, well,
we'd love to have you try out. And I tried
out in front of the casting people that before he
tried for the judges, and I got on a zoom
and then I sang a song and more Hearts than
Mind by Ingrid Andres. And then I went on the

(02:53):
show and they were like, sor are you going to tell?

Speaker 3 (02:56):
You know?

Speaker 1 (02:56):
The producer told the producer and said, are you going
to tell them that your grandma's Lredda Lynn. I was like, well,
I mean if I asked me about my history or something,
I mean, you know, I grew up on the road
with her, So I mean for me not to talk
about it, I'd feel like a fraud. And then for
me to talk about it that has that pressure. And
so they've just asked me, you know, like where do
you play? And I've turned into a songwriter.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
You know.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
I was signed with Lizro's Music over here in Nashville,
who wrote all the Taylor Swift songs like all Too
Well and all those songs. And I kind of just
was a songwriter and came off doing missionary work after
my grandmater stroke and stopped touring, and so I was
really not in front of on the stage since I
was like sixteen and I was twenty four at the time.
And so and these kids, like you said, they they do,

(03:39):
you know, even though they might not grow up in
the family that I did. They have more stage experience,
and so that was something I wasn't on my school
playing guitar in terned of my grandma. You know, like
it was different. I was a little kid and fearless.
It's like this twenty four year old girl that's had
all its pressure.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
It was.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
It was cool.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Yeah, And a lot of people say that when you
come off a show like that, then the real work
really begins because you get all the hoop lost stuff
and the camera, the lights, the song choices, the wardrobe choices,
the feedback from the judges and go very far in
the competition. Or some people don't even have to win
a competition like that to be successful when they come up.
When they come off a show like that, many of
the superstars have gone on to excel in careers, such

(04:17):
as Kelly Clarkson, Cary Underwood and shows like that, not
just Idle, but others too. Was that true the real
work kind of began for you when you got off
that show.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Well, funny fact, well, I know Najudd at the end
of the finale, she was my finale person and she
was like, are you a mama? And I said no,
long and behold, I didn't know I was pregnant. But
I was pregnant and I didn't know that, and so
you know, we were all talking about like are we
going to sign and like I was going on a

(04:47):
plan with just signing with you know, this group of people,
and I didn't know if like the you know, it
was just kind of like are they going to sign me?
And then I ended up saying, guys, I think we
need to pause because I'm actually having a baby. So
everything kind of went on hold for me for a second.
And I'm assigned to a talent agency, so they kind
of I went on a couple of dates with Megan

(05:08):
Maroney after I had my baby, but I mean, yeah,
I was having a hard time because I was like,
oh my gosh, you know, this is the time that
you got a rock and roll and here I am,
you know, like a month pregnant.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
And talking about that change because I can tell you this,
even five five and a half years ago, it changed
us for the better, no doubt. Always becoming a mom
or a dad is just a great feeling in life,
you know, creating this little miracle, no doubt, and then
watching it grow up and I mean now mine's singing
all type of your songs, everybody's songs out there too,
which she'd get her hands on great music out there.
How has that changed you both as apparent as an

(05:43):
artist too.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
At the same time, I remember watching the ultrasound and
that's kind of when it like something with I don't
know how it was for you, but like looking at
that ultrasound and seeing that heartbeat and just like that
little face, like it just it does like I didn't
know that there was a compartment like that inside and
it just I don't know. It was the first It
was the ultra sound and they put the baby on you.

(06:05):
I think as an artist, I think it made me
want to write more less miserable songs, you know what
I'm saying. Like I remember rocking her and I was like, well,
I don't want to write a breakups song right now.
I want to write a song about you know, like
I don't know. I had a song idea called only
the Stars Watch, and it was about me just waking
up at night and being with her and like just

(06:25):
rocking her. And it was my first joy song that
I've had in a long time. And so I think
as an artist, it's just I don't know, sadness isn't
the only emotion that we should write about. We should
write about like love and joy, and so I think
that that changed me as an artist.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
When you look at being a songwriter too, it's such
that creative process and a lot of people now get
pitched songs and see kind of it's a personal fitter
personal connection. Of course, a lot of it now is
seeing any if they get pitched, you know, somebody is
either going to record it or not. But at the
same time, you got to have that affinity that loved
for the song too. What's your favorite part of just
that whole songwriting process.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
I love writing concepts like what's a great hook? Like
I love like, let's write a good hook, and I
want to write something truthful, so like you know, yeah,
I just really want to get I love, I just
love I don't know, and seeing it connect with you
and then it connects with others like it's I don't know.
It's just really cool to me to see that by
coming up with the ideas for the songs, no doubt.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Let's talk about that. You mentioned this female class, so
Megan Maroney is one of the ones, you know, just
killing it out there to at the same time, of course,
the Queen Bee is Landy Wilson, and then you look
at just a host of other females behind her. Now,
how cool is this to see and for you right
there in that class with so many names, we could
go through here Priscilla Block and like I said, Hannah
Ellis and all these Ella Langley. I mean, these names
just go on and on for this female category as

(07:42):
of right now, that perception you know, people get because
it once was and maybe still is to some degree,
a male dominated industry. But it's really cool to see
the ladies of country music doing well. Give me some
thoughts on that.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
No, I love Ella Langley. I'm a huge Ella Langley fan.
Meghan Maroney is a sweetheart. I love her. And like
you just see all these like sorority girls and like teenagers,
all these ages and young and like I just remember
being out there and like I was the opener, so
they were really looking for like the like the megant.
You could just tell that everyone. Oh my gosh, her
fans are the best, Like they're just so loyal, Like

(08:16):
I think that that says so much about the artist,
you know, like their brand and just like be a
girl's girl. You know, and so I don't know. I
just love I love seeing yeah, and I love Ella Langley,
I love her voice, I love Laney Wilson and Laney Wilson.
Just I mean it's just country through and through and
there's no nothing fake in it. I love her, so yeah,

(08:37):
I mean I love it. My grandma she was she
was all about women, and you know, she pioneered that
and like speaking your truth as a woman and being
a woman in a in like you said, a male
dominated industry. So I think, I don't know, it's it's yeah,
close to my heart.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Well, you grew up around one of the greatest of
all time too, no doubt about it, and if not
the greatest. And that female category you mentioned the red
land out there, How cool was that just from a
young to discover what she meant for country music? Obviously,
Cold Miner's Daughter one of the biggest hits ever in
country music live on throughout time. When it comes to
songs like that that people will still play on vinyl
records and play on any streaming services out there too,

(09:15):
and of course the classic country stations to listen to
it on. But what she meant to country music and
just kind of give us a little backstory of you
mentioned growing up around it and being involved with this
and it was just so cool to see a lady
go out there and just do her thing and just
leave it all on stage every time.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Right, Yeah, no, she my mom was her manager and
her opener. So my mom brought me as a PREMI
and so my mom was super attached to me because
I came early, and so me and me Ma were
I call her Mama, my grandma. Me and me Ma
were super close and so like I went on the
road with her as a baby, Like I was always
the one that went on the road and never all
my siblings were like, why does that make it to

(09:51):
go on the road, And I just I loved it,
Like I wanted to stand the bunk. I'd always kick
my mom out of the little the bus bunks, you know,
the little beds. That's that what they call the beds
and the tour bus. And I just remember me and
me Mema always wanted to watch scary movies. And now I'm,
you know, having scary dreams now because she loves scary movies.
She's crazy, but in the best way, and so yeah,

(10:12):
I just like watching her. I think because she was
just my grandma. Just felt like, what was this what
grandma's do? I would leave Thursdays and Fridays of school,
which is probably not good, and go on the road
and come out and sing Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star. I
remember that being my first memory was singing Twinkle twinkletle
start two years old and her calling me out and

(10:33):
just her looking at me, and me looking at the
piano player and just a blurry crowd. And I think
people just loved her, and she always made people feel
just like loved like she she'd always respond to the
crowd like I love you. I love you too, honey,
like I never missed one. She'd never miss one. And
so I just think that the way that she was
with her fans, she always called them her friends. She

(10:55):
never really said like her fans. It was always like
her friends.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Her friends, no doubt. And I'm sure she got a
lot of good fan mail out there too at the
same time, but she got the fan mail, those letters.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
Oh so much fan mail.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
At the same time. You know, she did a lot
of great collaborations in her career. But I almost say
for me personally and love that era because of eighties
nineties even seventies, eighties, nineties country was such a huge
fan like myself growing up and I DJ back in
the day music Loucianna woman Mississippi man still has to
be And what was it like? I mean, she'd tell
you any any good Conway Twitty stories.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Gosh, she loved Conway. Apparently I didn't know this, but
he was like super shy. I don't know, you probably
know that the backstory by Yember were shy. And what's
funny is like people think that like they kind of
had like a thing or something. My mom was telling
me about this, but you know it's my Grandpa Mooney.
I call him Grandpa Mooney, call him Paplall. But I
never met them. I was born on their anniversary, which
is kind of weird. It's like God saying hey, but yeah,

(11:49):
but he put them together. Grandpa loved Conway Twitty. Yeah,
and so that that's one of my favorite songs too.
I love that song.

Speaker 2 (11:59):

(19:26):
So congratulations on this single. Thanks for letting us play this.
I love this song so much. How did this one
come about? Tell us all about the arrangement here?

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Oh gosh, so I just remember just in the in
the middle of my relationship. I just remember driving back
to my mom's house. He had broken up with me
like one hundredth time, the guy that I was dating
at the time, and I was just feeling like I
completely lost myself. I underestimated the power of relationship and
I was like, I have betrayed myself and my values

(19:56):
and you know, like in the verses, it's like I'm
the girl with common sense, I'm the girl like with
values and like how did I do this? How did
I become that girl that waits by the phone? You know,
like how did I How did I get here? And yeah,
it's just about kind of calling yourself out and being
like this isn't you. You're stuck in the matrix and
so uh but how I have to have grace for

(20:16):
that girl. And so that's kind of what that one's about.
That's a little short story.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
But yeah, now I forgot to ask that million dollar question.
What's the little one's name? And how old?

Speaker 1 (20:28):
Taylor? And she's eight months?

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Wow, that's amazing.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
That's just got her first teeth. Her two bottom teeth
are coming through, and I'm just, oh, my gosh, I
just want to It's like her mouth and her lips,
I just want to eat. And people are like that.
And I've heard that's called cuteness aggression. I chatch you
beteed it and I said cuteness aggression, and I was like, okay,
at least it's like cuteness aggression, not just aggression.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
That's what that is. And they start when they tea
at that age too. You're like they gotta have the
little teething, little foamy stuff out there too, the little
teeth and rings, and you're like it's hard to take
away from because you're like, you know, it's it's a
matter of they know that, that's they well, I said,
they know, they don't know. We know what's good and
what's bad. But you got to have that to actually
keep your sanity sometimes too, because it's just something to
chew on because everything goes in the mouth at.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
That age, right, yes, everything everything, Like don't get the legos, Maya.
We take care of Tyler, my husband's nephew as well.
She's kind of been like adopted in the family, not adopted,
but kind of you know, and I'm like, clean your legos.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
She will put that one out, So yeah, mine still,
I want to say, was it until about maybe late
of the three she's five now, she'll be six next year.
But I'm thinking it's like, wait till three three and
a half maybe four, she sucked her thumb and we
couldn't get her through that.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Taylor would suck her thumb. I think it's the cutest here.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
And the other day were walking out of the house
She's going to kindergarten, and then we're like she was
getting something desert or something. I guess she was getting
the sticky stuff off her hands. And the next thing
I know, she's like she looked at me straight out
of the blue. And at this age the personality really
comes out. Is she's like, yeah, Daddy, just wanted you
to know I'm not sucking my thumb, just getting the
sticky stuff off my hands.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
From she's trying to say she's like a big.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Girl now, yes, trying to act like that. You know,
every Friday is like a spirit day for their their
their little school that they have too and they get
their face paint and everything. Yeah, and always get the
quote is that, Daddy, did you put the money in
my bag for my Spirit Day?

Speaker 3 (22:23):
You're in it, You're in it.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Yes, Daddy's girl hooked around the little finger too. At
the same time. Now, like I said, she's singing you
believe this. Now, she's singing your songs, really, any other
country songs she can find. She just learns. So such
an auditory learner too, and of course I mean visual too.
But once she hears a song, she likes it. She's
gonna tell you so the K pop demon Hunters is
like the big thing for her.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Yes, loves it. That is so funny. Tell her, I said, Hi,
I would have.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
To send you a photo to let you know what
she's up to.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
Now.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
I guess it's it's it's it's just a cool thing
to be a girl. Dad out there too, Hey, let's
talk about this, uh the uh three song short album
out There which Taylor Tyler Ward was on. You mentioned
Tyler there. I almost want to say, Taylor your daughter,
but we should we should get out of here? Yeah,
cool songs with that one. I loved phone call to Heaven,
Oh my God and amazing just my faith and my

(23:12):
family is everything to me and unbelievable And if if
anybody's lost a relative, they can really relate to that
song and resonate. How did this one come together? For
Phone Call to Heaven tell us all about we should
get out of here? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (23:24):
So Tyler had written we should get out of here,
So that was more just like hey, I feel like
you're that girl, and I was like, okay, let's do it.
And so like we had fun with that one. For
phone Call to Heaven, I actually got an invite. This
girl she lost her son, like she gave birth to
her son and like only two days later or a
few days later, he passed away, and so she started

(23:44):
this kind of ministry and she said, you know, I'd
really love a song for this, and we just kind
of took it and we're like, well, we can all
relate to loss. And then I was telling Tyler I
had a video idea and like what if we you know,
had like a like a calling place where people could
call the voicemail to their loved one. And I just
kind of recorded myself and I said, you know, memo,
you know, and then I brought it to you know,

(24:06):
because I lived with her. We were so close and
it was so painful the loss was and I should
recalling her and it was really healing because you almost
get to say what you couldn't and we got like
over gosh, probably like twenty thousand boy smails, thirty thousand
boys mails something crazy like that. So it was a movement.
And I love movements. I don't just love music. I
love like transformation, movements, healing.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
So yeah, and those stories. Yeah, the stories you get
back from the fans, like you said, that is just amazing. There.
I love your rendition last year. I believe this was
May when it was released last year, this redition of
your song Redemption. Oh yeah, this one. Loved this song,
tell us all about it.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Oh, thank you. So that one I written a few
years ago, probably in a relationship, and I was just
like American Idol was like, show us your songs, and
like some people get written for and then for me,
they were just like we love your writing.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Like what do you have?

Speaker 1 (24:54):
And then I was like, oh, there's a few that
might be interesting to you, and uh yeah. It was
about a relation and here I am.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
So it just got it comes full circle again, no doubt.
I love the fact that the new stuff just came
out to September tenth. And of course we talked about
this and we mentioned that girl coming up here is October.
But I got to go back to a little bit
of September tenth. The ordinary three songs off of this
one too with Tyler two at the same time, and
a lot of cool stuff on there too. You mentioned
phone Call to Heaven, but Ordinary it was one of

(25:25):
those songs you could kind of relate to if you
come from that small town looking back and I love
your album cover you'd put out with this one. Tell
us all about that arrangement.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
Yeah, So Tyler is super logical. So he was in
the YouTube space, one of the biggest like YouTube kind
of singers on there, and he's really about numbers. So
he was like, he was like, what is streaming the
most right now? And so I was like, oh, Ordinary
by Alex Moren And then he was like, we got
to do a cover of this song. And so we
did like a country cover of it, and it was

(25:54):
so fun to do just because it's such a great song.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
It really is, no doubt too. Well, looking back, I
know we're we're in this last quarter of twenty twenty five.
You mentioned the new song that girls Across all the
DSP's advisorybody to go check it out out there too.
Of course you heard it here on the show here
on the backstage pass. But looking ahead to twenty twenty six,
looking to kind of break out more for what you
can tell us, and there's a lot of things you
can't tell us when it comes down to you know, projects,

(26:18):
things like that, working on And I always say, we're
not looking for the exclusive here on the show, but
if you get one, it's great too. But I know,
like everybody's talking about closing this year looking forward to
twenty twenty six. I think about it from my business
Standfoard here from the radio show too. For what I
want to accomplish. You set goals for yourself, and you
set little metrics and you want to check all these boxes.
What are you most looking forward to to close out
this year and going into next year.

Speaker 1 (26:39):
Well, fun fact, I am going to be releasing an
EP in January, so I'm really really excited. It's going
to be my first EP I've ever had. I've never
had any EP, so it'll be my first one. I'm
going to do three songs and they're just all my music.
No one's on them except for me. So it's like
really exciting for me because I'm like, oh my gosh,

(27:00):
this is my first project and it's called that Girl,
and so I'm really excited for that. And I'm going
to try and do like a secret like house party
kind of thing for like people that have followed me
in October and invite like hand pick some people maybe
on my Instagram or something and be like, Hey, do
you want to come to my you know song, my
you know EP release, but you get to listen to

(27:22):
it before it comes out, and so I'm planning on
doing that. So I'm really excited.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
You should be too, looking forward to that too. We'll
have to have you back here on the show to
talk about that once it's released too. I'll just get
you some fun stuff too. I love college football. You know,
it's that time of year we're talking about, you know,
favorite teams, and for me it's like the Texas a
and Maggie's because I love the Aggies so much, and
then NFL is the Arizona Cardinals. For you, I love
college football. But I got to ask you about football
fan yourself, the favorite teams and kind of who you

(27:48):
root for.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
Okay, well, I'm a huge Bronco fan because my husband's
from Colorado. So even though Broncos have really struggled, I
know they struggled, but you know, I'm really proud of
them though they were really like I love bon Nicks.
Bonicks is freaking awesome. He's doing a great job. But
I don't know how they are doing this year. But
I don't know. I'm like, I'm excited to see who

(28:10):
goes to the super Bowl this year though, because I've
heard Kansas City has, you know, kind of there's a
few games that they did lose. So I'm like, oh,
my goodness, is Kansas City just gonna be it for
the next three years? And Tyler was telling me no,
like people age and like they start like, you know,
like it's the new guys, and so I was like, Wow,
I wonder who's gonna win this time? So we'll see.
I also like the Miami Dolphins. Yeah, I think they're great.

(28:32):
They're really good team.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Like a little too attack of Ioloa, like I said,
love that too at the same time, which is good there,
and you know they've had their ups and downs to
the Chiefs. Like I said, he's gonna be you know,
some big games. We're only eight week five of the
National Football League right now too, and actually getting through
week eight, week nine, so a lot of weeks to
go out there too. I'm with you. I love bo Nicks.
I love the fact that the Broncos had a pretty
good running game out there and really good defense, so
I think, you know, he was one of those guys

(28:54):
in college I paid attention to when Bonnicks played at
the University of Oregon. So it's gonna be a lot
of fun too for a lot of teams that are
out there doing their things. I still like the Eagles
until you beat somebody and take it away from them.
Philadelphia's will be a strong team to beat, and I'll
tell you whether they're they're super talented. And then, uh,
one of the teams that I kind of expect more
of the breakout, kind of a quiet like four and
oh start now. But the Buffalo Bills could really.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
No.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
I like them too. Yeah, I like that, but they
went against Colorado and I was like, I don't like you,
but I see them playing like y'all are gifted. They're gifted.
Who's the one one guy that he played both? Uh
he was in college. Uh oh, what's his name? This
his son? Should there's Shoudo and then there's this other Hunter.

(29:40):
What's his name?

Speaker 2 (29:41):
Uh oh, you're talking about Travis Hunter.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
Yeah, he's ridiculous. I'm like, I'm like excited. I haven't
actually seen a game with him playing, So how's he doing.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
Do you know how he's doing, Travis said, A couple
of games, I know they got, Like I said that,
the Chiefs coming Jacksonville is kind of one of those
teams right in the thick of it there too as well,
the same time playing the Chiefs and then got some
you know games coming up over the next few weeks too.
But you know it's gonna be any any rookies are
going to have their ups and downs for the first
year in pro ball, so this's gonna be. But Hunters
explosive player. He won the Heisman Trophy award too, so
it's it's a exciting times. And of course, hey, look

(30:12):
when you when you when your dad's a primetime Deon Sanders,
that's good. Good thing.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
Understand this isn't even fair. It's so intense and all
the pressure, but yeah, he's yeah, goodness.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
The low league Cleveland Browns do too. Just made a
change at quarterback, got Dylan Gabriel in there too, so
she Door is gonna have to wait his time and
hopefully be that starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns one
day too. All right, let's let's have a little fun
with this one. When you get a chance to have
a little downtime and you're not, like I said, you know,
kind of sitting there doing music. I'm obviously being a
mom takes a lot of your time too, but there
are other fun things that you love to do, spending

(30:46):
time with family, going places, travel eating stuff like that.
Tell us about it.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
I love going to Colorado. That's absolutally bringing it back
to Broncos. Not only do I love like, you know,
like the Broncos are sweet, but I freaking love Colorado.
So we actually, I like like taking trips. This is
really weird. I love traveling, getting out and so we're
literally going to Colorado tomorrow. So like, so I mean

(31:10):
I love spending time with God. I love like opening
my Bible, Like I'm such like I just like love it.
I get lost there. Fun fact, I was like a
missionary for like four years and so like that's like
one of my favorite things to do. And I really
wanted to do to go to like a prayer school
for like three months and just kind of get deep
in my faith and just like kind of break it
back and produce music from that space. And so honestly,

(31:32):
that's probably my my favorite. Of course, I'm not perfect,
you know, and sometimes I don't read and I don't
feel close, but I know like that's my that's kind
of where I feel most alive. So yeah, my best friends.
I've got a best friend named Mattie. We always hang
out go uh so yeah, yeah, no, those are probably
my few favorite things. Colorado, prayer school and uh Maddie.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
Gosh.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
Being a mom is like like it's like your free time,
how's your free time? And it's like, you know what
this feels like. It's like what free time?

Speaker 2 (32:05):
There's not much free time when it comes down, especially
being a young parent having a kid, any of that
young age right there too, especially eight months nine months
old right there too. Food, as far as cooking or
eating out or things in Nashville are just things when
touring and things like that are just on stage. Where
do you guys like to dine in at and looking
at just some things even to cook? What do you
like to cook?

Speaker 1 (32:24):
I love steak. I'm like, I used to like sushi
and I'm like, oh gross, I hate sushi. I used
to love it and now I'm like this is disgusting.
Ever since I had the baby, I don't know what happened.
I just don't like sushi anymore. I loved Thai food.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
I love no but.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
Probably I'm a big steak person, you know, steak and
mashed potatoes. Just that's that's my best one.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
It's all the cabs. Yeah, it's right there too.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
What's your favorite?

Speaker 2 (32:53):
You know? For me, I'm gonna tell you right now.
I've been on this chicken and fish because I've lost
a lot of weight too. Just been back in the
gym for quite a bit too, because I love fitness
and it really just is really one of my biggest
things to do outside of the show is go to
the gym and let it all. Just like I said,
release the endorphins, have fun out there, let go. And
I've been on a chicken fish kind of that leaner.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
Yeah. I love salmon and are my two go tos. Yeah,
the car I love sweet potatoes. That's probably my sweet
potatoes are really good Sweo potato fries. For a long time,
so I felt really good because I was sticking that
low car and it was it was nice.

Speaker 4 (33:26):
It was good.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
I felt really good about myself. It's hard to stick
off those carbs though.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
It is it is very much too. And I started
doing these hit workouts. They're high intensity interval training and
they're kind of the fitness gems out there too. And
we get together some friends and we do all these classes.
So everybody just tries to motivate each other because one
person can't do it alone. So we take the classes
from a trainer and we get all this information and
now whether we follow it going outside of there's pretty
much up to us, just like anything else. But it's
all about what you eat and trying to work out

(33:51):
and mix it up at the same time too, And
you know, it's it's uh for the for the fun
also people. The classes aren't for the faint hearted when
you go, but for the fun of it too. At
the same time, you do your best, and I think
as long as you keep moving, Yeah, the biggest thing
we could do don't ever just kind of you know,
sit down and relax, have your fun, chill out and
do all that kind of stuff. But every day you
cannot lay down for I don't know, I mean for

(34:11):
me at least, I can't sit still for five or
six hours, maybe an hour or two. Yeah, get up
and just go move. I gotta do that.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
Yeah, go ahead, yeah, move herround.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
Yeah, it's very long too. All right, we'll finish with
this one. Love it. If you weren't a working musician,
what other career path would you have chosen?

Speaker 1 (34:29):
Oh my gosh, probably a therapist. Tell me your story, Yeah,
a story. Probably a therapist or a teacher. I love
just like those kind of like how do I make
you feel like you're coming to live in your purpose?
Like I just like love that. It's a Probably I'm
a teacher or a therapist.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
You'd be great at either one too, But she chose
that right career. At the same time, love it and
