Speaker 2 (00:10):
And welcome inside the backstage pass. Always a busy day again,
our thanks to our great folks over there Lakeview. The
two guys are killing it out there too across all
those digital streaming platforms, over thirty five million streams of
the song Home Team, which is out there across all
the DSPs, and some of the hockey teams are using
it out there too. Appreciate them joining us here. Appreciate
you guys joining us here. A KKTC True Country ninety
(00:31):
nine point nine in Taus, New Mexico, again powered by
the Sports Guys podcast dot com and presented by our
friends over at Decayden Gordonshow dot com. Today's best country mix.
And I told you guys, I had a good one.
Been playing the music all week and she's such you
like the ogs. I love when the OG's come back
because when I started this thing in twenty nineteen, she's
kicking ass and taking names. I can use that word
(00:51):
now officially on Radio two the new single love You
Back is across all the DSPs. Holly currents to the program,
My friend, how you doing?
Speaker 1 (00:58):
I'm doing so good? How are you?
Speaker 2 (01:00):
It's been a minute since we have caught up ednant.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Way too long, way wait, wait, too long.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Way too long. Let's talk about the force of nature
out there too. Man, you've been on this ride ever
since we met, what twenty twenty when you first came
on the same Berston out there too, with all the
great songs. You've been up to a lot of things
out there too, especially this new single we're going to
talk about and play about across all the DSPs, and
of course on the station here today. Talk just about
just the whirlwind of a ride you've been on too.
(01:26):
It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
That is the proper way to explain it. For sure.
It's been a ride. It's been a roller coaster. Yeah,
so much has happened. I've released I think two EPs
since we last chatted, and singles all over the place,
and I've been on tour and just been traveling cise there.
I'm married since the last time we chatted and moved
onto a boat. There's just been a lot of life changes.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
How's that been moving on to a boat. That's that's
a little bit unique, right.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Yeah, truly. I don't think anyone could ever call me
how maintenance, that's for sure. But no, I've somehow found
a brand new love for it. I thought it was
gonna be a very temporary thing, and I adore it,
so I'm staying for a while.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Well, we got actually we had my little girl's gonna
turn five next year already to just love Itmuntion music,
and we actually purchased a little family thing at RV
a while back, one of those little motor homes and
stuff like that. So we're taking it out on the
road for the holidays coming up over the next few weeks.
So it's either life is for you or it's not.
The RV life is for you, or it's not.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Right that tiny home life for sure.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Exactly. You make some sacrifices and you like you live
in the best field that you can live in out
there too, and that the best to feel good system. Hey,
let's talk about it. And it's the music too. You've
always been big on storytelling. I love the fact that
all this music really tells a good story. Talk about
just the newest single, if we played here on KKTC
True Country ninety nine point nine, Love You Back. You
have a chance to work with newly married husband out
(02:53):
there too at the same time with this song, and
just tell all the listeners about how it came about.
And boy, this one really tells a story. He does.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Absolutely, I think we've all been there in that place
of love, loss and hope for something else and hope
for return of the old. And I wanted to really
hone in on that. I wrote this song, and I
was thinking, you know, it would be a really special duet,
and as my manager and I were kind of like
passing back ideas on who could feature and that kind
of thing, he ended up saying, like, what about Kelly.
(03:20):
Kelly's a worship pastor. He's the most beautiful voice. And
at first I was a little like, it's a breakup song,
Like it's kind of an interesting thing to do when
you're married, newly married and releasing a breakup song together.
But I think it did make sense. And regardless of
where me and Kelly are now, we've both been through
those things, so I think it's cool to be able
to create together and relate on feelings we haven't shared together.
But we've shared separately in our lives, even though now
(03:42):
we're like one unit. It's really it's been really really cool.
So yeah, the song means a lot to both of
us in a lot of different ways, and being able
to create together as a couple is even more special.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
That's the beautiful thing created as a couple, and it
makes it more meaningful in the song just really and
you know, enunciates itself out there clear and the fact
you guys get to do it together and we're not
gonna wait me longer. We're gonna play it right here
KKT ninety nine point nine in Tallas, New Mexico, for
skiing out there Tuesday, enjoy the weather. At the same time,
we're gonna love you back here, Helly Karns here. It
is on KKTC True Country ninety nine point nine. Stay tuned.

was what off on?

trying to run out and I.
Speaker 7 (05:26):

Speaker 5 (05:28):
Saw how I wish I could love you back to
the middle of our summer.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
We couldn't get.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Enough of each other.
Speaker 8 (05:38):
I wish I could.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
Love you back to where you love to maybe laughing
when we were falling like a sage thunder.
Speaker 9 (05:45):

I wish I could love you back to the middle
of my summer and we couldn't get enough.
Speaker 10 (06:22):
Of each other.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
I wish I could love you back to when you
loved and made me laugh when we were.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Falling like the stars. We were running.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
I wish icking go you back to twenty three, Love
you back to ten, singing me, I was shocking you bad,
feel bad, and.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
I was shocking you bad, Love you bad.
Speaker 6 (06:53):

Speaker 11 (07:03):

Yeah, we get right after here on the backstage pass.
We just fire away music, a little bit of comments
and Hallie Urns joining us here KKTC True Country ninety
nine point nine and out there, of course the WSM,
the home of the grand O Lopry. Get those tickets,
always say Opry dot com. And of course we just
finished a long run of shows with that fine station
out there too, And it's great to be affiliated with them.
Hopefully we can do a spring number of shows coming
(07:53):
up there in January or February when the new year
turns around. First, let me say happy holidays to you
and the family coming up. What are the plans to
no pun intended, love you back, but you love your
family too, around these festive time of the year and
all the Christmas stuff. What are the the Kurents household,
what are we going to do?
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Well, we are very lucky this year and our family's
actually coming up to Nashville. Our whole family will be
gathering around here for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, which is
a dream because they're all from Kansas City. So between
tour schedule and travel, it's been there's just been a
lot of obviously just not a lot of time home,
so this has been super super important to stay and
(08:31):
this has just been a very It's been really special
to be able to bring everyone here and not have
to travel anymore for those couple of short weeks I
get off. So it's been good.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Let's let's build on that tour, man. I've seen a
lot of dates kick off, and I know it's it's
winding down the end of the year too. But for you,
it's been a lot of great fans out there, and
of course, you know, kind of just sharing that message
of the great music you've put out of course the
EP which was earlier this year, Quarter Life Crisis, which
is out there across all the DSPs out there too,
and also Halle currents dot com talk about the tour
(09:00):
and just the feedback you've gotten from all the fans
and just how great it is to be on stage
again and you're playing venue after venue we are.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Yeah, we had forty dates this fall and it's just
been back to back to back. But it's seriously my
favorite thing in the world, because you know, you get
to I love writing songs, I love love love getting
to perform them, but like getting to meet people afterwards
and hear how all of that kind of conglomerates together
and how it all makes sense, and just hearing how
people relate and can share in those feelings and emotions.
(09:27):
That is my favorite, favorite favorite part. So the meet
and greets after are like the best. And then obviously
watching the crowds sing along and no words and it's
just it's the coolest experience. So there's nowhere else I'd
rather be right now than on the road meeting all
these people and sing all the cities. So I'm very
very grateful talk to.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
Me about this, and grateful this music is out there.
This Quarter Life Crisis EP. When it came out there
back in June of this year, loved it, loved it,
loved it. We're gonna play a song off there in
a little bit called the Boot, you know, just a
beautiful song such as high school Friends, I mean, telling
a story taking people back to you know, what that
like to and then what it's like to stay in
touch with your high school friends even after you graduate too.
Setland kyn was on there too, carries me some highlights
(10:07):
and things you remember best about the EP once it
was released and now that you've had a few months
to kind of, you know, recollect on that a little bit.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Yeah, it's that was a really special one for me
because I think it you know, I'm always very reflective
in my songs and like to kind of analyze where
I'm at, but that one was just so the whole
project was so real and in the moment, I was
really walking through each of those things as they were
coming out, which felt very vulnerable and very special. Again,
when people could relate to them. It just encourages me
(10:36):
that much more. And songs like the Boot they've just
been so much fun the way they've been translating in person,
and it shows I'm having people hold their boots up
the whole song, just scream the lyrics back and man,
it's electric. It's it's been so fun. And you know,
the song called settling kind I wrote about Kelly like
in our early phases of dating. I he kind of
changed my whole mind on marriage and the idea of
settling down this early in life. So I just I
(10:59):
think you see a lot of that quarter life crisis
coming to play, where you think you're one way and
you're proven the other. And I like this now. I
want that there's a lot of emotion all over the place,
which is I think I was gonna say females at
this age, but I think really anyone of this face
of life.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
I love it. It's bigging of that great segue right
there too, because the females have been dominating this entire
twenty twenty four year and I feel like this has
been built off even the last almost two or three
years that Laney has been just on her domination, taking
on every big time award at ACMs and CMA's which
you're coming up here November twentieth and your biggest night
country of music. But also every lady to get that
due diligence now that I feel like has been maybe
(11:36):
a little bit not there over the past few years too.
Did you see Ashley Cook and Hannah Ellis and Megan
Marony yourself right in there too. What's this women's movement
been like for you as you just continue to build
on your career.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
I think it's just it's just been special, and honestly,
I don't know anything different right now, but it's it's
been so cool looking around and seeing these other women,
specifically because I know in the past how hard it's
been as a woman in country music, so can really
break through. It's been so cool to look around and
not see nearly as much of that. I think there's
still a little ways to go, but it's been really
(12:11):
encouraging to watch peers and friends succeed and do it,
not like succeed as a woman, but just succeed as
a person in this industry. And Laney's just incredible. She's
the sweetest thing, and I want nothing but every single
award for her the best of the best of the best.
So it's been really awesome to not only see someone
who's a female going to those lengths of success, but
(12:33):
also someone who's genuinely good to her core do so well.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
And I'm gonna make a bold prediction. I mean, when I
had Lane on at twenty twenty, I said something and
then it came true. You're like, how did you do that?
I'm like, well, do you just kind of know what
a sound is? A sound? And the music is so
good out there and the stories, just the storytelling, that's
what it's all about. And that's what you've done in
writing your beautiful music you put out there in the
catalog of great stuff, including Quarter Life Crisis and a
few songs we'll get into. But I'm gonna throw a
prediction out there too. Here we are twenty four, the
(13:00):
latter part of it. So I'm gonna say, Halle Kerns
is going to if she hadn't already, is going to
get a call from the Grande ol Opry and step
inside that center circle. Is that in the works as
of now and everybody else, I'm sorry if I didn't
see that but I mean, it wouldn't be surprised, but
already happened.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
No, that's the crazy thing is I just had I
was talking to someone earlier today and they were asking,
like this year's goals and everything, and that was my
main thing. I'm like, I just want to play the
grand Ole Opera for the first time this year would
be a dream sometime in twenty twenty five. So that's
crazy that.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
It's going to happen from one in the factaty Pass
that did that for Lanny and twenty twenty look what
happened her career. Halle currns same way twenty twenty five,
predicting that grand Ole Lopry stands there too, and watch
out too, because I wouldn't be surprised to see you
in some of those new award categories creeping up for
that Academy of Country Music or Country Music Association, And
if you're in there, I'm not CMA member, so I'm
(13:51):
going to vote for you if you're in one.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
I appreciate that so much. Thank you. That is that
is so kind.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Definitely, I love the song that tells the story. They
all do, no doubt, but one that really sets a
tone for record this quarter life Crisis any better than
this because I go back to the old school. I
remember my forties now, but I go back to the
old school stuff when it's like you live with Grandma
and she's like, you know what, I don't want to
put clothes in the dryer. I just don't want to
raise my energy bills. Let's put them on the line.
So let's talk about clothes on the line and this game.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Oh man, this song's all about just going back to
that inner child in you. And exactly what you're talking
about going back to Grandma's house is exactly what I
picture when I'm writing the song, and just laying in
the field, laying underneath the trees, and just going back
to that place of no worry, no cares, the only worries,
the clothes on the line, the only worries, catching fireflies,
the only worries, what kind of pops up clear you're
going to pick? Like that channeling of when you're swarming
(14:44):
and your brain's overwhelmed and you're stressed out, like going
back to that place. And I just that song was
so fun to write for that reason. I think all
three of us writers in that room, we were all
just like, yeah, we could use some of that right.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
Now, no doubt. And also it takes you back with
a fun song too, because we all remember high school days.
Who we were I guess see dating at that time,
not dating and all the drama that goes into it
after we were teenager high school friends. This one did
really well on the streaming side for you and a
lot of fans. Good feedback at the shows. What a
song to tell a story.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
Too, Yeah, thank you so much. Yeah, this one, this
one hit a little harder definitely for me, because I
think it just it does take you to that place
of I want to be what people think I'm gonna be,
but also things take time sometimes and it's kind of
that taking place of I have my ten yere high
school reunion creeping up slowly, and I'm like, you know,
(15:36):
it's that reflection of am I where they thought I
would be? I know what it took to get here.
I know there's a lot more complications and more factors
to it than what it looks like. But based off
of their perspective, am I disappointing them? You know?
Speaker 2 (15:51):
There were those songs and like you said, tough in
the message, but at the same time, there's a little
bit of that the hard fought victory if you will
and see a light. Yeah, which is good. Let's talk
about this one. We always love a good drink, and
I love a drink much anymore, but to homemade Margarita's.
Fans haven't heard this one. They're going to you this
(16:12):
week on KKTC True Country ninety nine point nine. Backstory
of this one, get old drinking song right truly.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
I got together with Dan Wilson and Jared Hampton, and
those boys are a hoot and a half. They are
so funny and just sitting down with them, it just
it was actually Dan who brought in the idea. He
was like, listen, my wife has been begging me to
write a song about making homemade Margarita's. Can we please
do this? And I was like, let's give it a go.
And the way it just fell out and instantly, like
(16:42):
Jerry created this vibe for it, everything just fell into
place so quickly.
Speaker 8 (16:45):
That day.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
The demo is I'm sorry. The Master is essentially just
the demo polished, like he knocked all that out in
one day. It was beautiful. We just had fun with
it and it's been a fun one to play live.
Everyone does this little like clap clap moment in the
chorus with me, and it's a blast. I love this one.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
I go back to your first EP out there, which
was I think when we Met Finally, which was twenty twenty,
when it came out to Shoes to Phil. I loved
a lot, just so much of that song, so much
of a deep meaning there too, and also before he
could off that Finally EP. Kind of just some best
memories of that because you've grown so much as an artist,
and I hear it through your voice and I hear
it through your music, and you found the type of
(17:24):
artists that you want to be, and you've really taken
that to its core. Talk about some of the memories
that you remember from that particular EP and just what
continues to kind of, you know, sit in the great
catalog of songs even today.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Well, thank you so much for saying that. I look
back on that EP very very fondly. It kicked out
a lot of things for me, and even bigger than that,
it pointed me in a really cool direction for my artistry,
and I'm very grateful for it. And the crazy thing
is there's a lot of memories attached, but there's also
still new memories being made. I still play Shoes to
Fill at every single show, and I played before he
(17:57):
cut every once in a while to all what but
out We do kind of like this full and rocky
version of it now, and it's it's awesome, but it's
really cool because it's you know, it's been four years
and I still have fans asking for that song, requesting
different songs from that EP. I play whatever you do
still sometimes, and it's it's just cool to still see
even after this long and I feel like I've lived
(18:18):
twenty lifetimes in between than and now, and still having
people pull from that place in my life and in
my heart and relate to it is so beautiful.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Beautiful part of country music is the storytelling in it,
and just right there too. I mean again, she's gonna
make her grandel Lopery debut at twenty twenty five. I'm
predicting that, And of course a lot more cool things
off this tour we're going to talk about. You've got
a chance to work with another fantastic artist, Mason Ramsey.
We'll come back after we play this, and but time
to hold the boots up here on the backstage past.
It is the boots off the EP quarter Life Crisis,
(18:50):
and of course it was released as a single Halle
Currents Here on the backstage Passion checker out at Halle
Curns dot cown exclusively KKTZ True Country ninety nine point
nine and correct this one.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Same bar, same beer, different night, downtown Saint John Ley
that you're always on the fenceive bow. We can sit
and drink and dance around the truth again.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
But I can't help but think a bell on my
mama says.
Speaker 9 (19:18):
If he don't walk, bel keep walking. If you can't back, though,
ask me talk that he's talking. If he's on no
cattle snake, don't rattle. If he don't sweep, you'll off
your little cases.
Speaker 10 (19:35):
And if your hell yeah feels like a maybe girl,
there's only one thing to do. Give him the boot.
Just give him the boot.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Just give him a boot.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
You call all the shots, but I'll shoot you straight.
Don't as any cowboy take you away. If he's gonna
give your heartache.
Speaker 10 (20:04):
On the dance war, the kicks jumps right out the door.
Speaker 9 (20:10):
If he don't walk the line, I keep walking. If
he can't.
Speaker 10 (20:15):
Back, don't ask you talk that he's talking.
Speaker 9 (20:18):
If he's all that, no cataly snake, no rider. If
he don't sleep, you're off your little cases.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
And if your.
Speaker 10 (20:28):
Hell yeah feels like the baby oh girl, there's only
one thing to do. Give him the boot.
Speaker 6 (20:37):
Just give him, just give him the boot. If you
don't love love you the best, it's Plania while wild
wild in the West.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
If you don't love love you the.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
Best, it's Plania while wild wild in the West.
Speaker 9 (21:02):
If he don't want keep talking, if he came.
Speaker 10 (21:07):
Back, they'll ask you talk that he's talking.
Speaker 9 (21:10):
If he's all had, no cattle, snake, no rather, if
he don't swim, you'll love your little cases.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
And if your hell yeah.
Speaker 10 (21:21):
Feels like lat oo girl, who saw me? One thing
to do, give him the boot.
Speaker 9 (21:29):
Just give him boot, Just give him.
Speaker 8 (21:43):
Hey, y'all, this is Texas country artist Free Bagwell and
you're listening to Brandon on the Backstage Pass exclusively on
KKTC True Country ninety nine point nine in Calls, New Mexico.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
And back here with Allie Kerns. Don't forget Shelley in
the morning. We'll be on there too doing some radio calls.
And of course the interview with Taylor Austin dot comes
out this week's because somebody just made their Grand ol
Opry debut there last week and her new album, Sick
of Me comes out to November the fifteenth, so we'll
be able to look out for that. Another fantastic Nashville
recording artists too. And like I said, if they're out there,
we get them, and we delivered to you right here
(22:31):
on KKTC True Country ninety nine point nine in Taos,
New Mexico, which I was out there skiing this time. Here.
The weather's been a little cold, but it's been nice
for just the winter setting in where Texas is like
this global warming thing going on, this trend. I don't
know what it is, but we just can't buy a
forty degree morning. I want one down here Texas. I
really do.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
I feel you on that. It's it's still warm here
in Nashville as well.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Yeah, I'm ready for this to say. Daytime hins in
the seventies, not like ninety when we get a forty
degree morning because the rather cool weather than or texts
for you exactly talked so much about back here with
Alle Kerns on our show here, and so much of
what the Boot has meant to you too, but also
(23:15):
another one off that record for quarter Life Crisis too
and just really holling in on your sound. We mentioned
the title, but I got to get the backstory that
settling kind has been real good to you and the
fans love that.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
Yeah, yeah, it's been. It's been really sweet watching that
one translate as well. But like I said, it's all
about those first early phases when I started realizing like, oh,
this could be a foreverything, and I thought that settling
down as early in life would be settling on a
lot of things that I want in my life and
a lot of dreams I have, So it was It's
been so cool to one change my mind on something
(23:48):
that drastic and that life changing, but also to have
people relate to that place.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
I love it and you did a great job back
I think it was March of last year and the
years lied by. Like you said, we feel like we've
lived twenty lifetimes here in the last four with the
COVID and even after COVID have to recover from that.
But such a song that he really takes it to
its core last March when you put it out. God
only knows. And what a tune you did with this
(24:15):
one to really bring it to life, and it really
brought your vocals and you as an artist truly to
life too.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Oh, thank you for saying that. I love being able
to sprinkle Jesus in there whenever I can. And also
it was like it just came from a place of
this is a journal intrigue, just being like, God, I
don't know who you have for me. I don't know
where he is, but I know you know, and so
take it and bring him to me whenever you're ready.
And I'll be hoping to meet him very soon.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
And he did look at that, he did, no doubt
about it. Mason Ramsey, another fantastic artist you've got a
chance to work with on this tour and how big
this has been for him, taking the world by storm
with his brand of music too. At the same time,
talk about just that relationship and what Mason has meant
to you, and I'm sure you guys have learned from
each other too.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Mason is a little brother to me at this point.
Speaker 7 (24:59):
I for him.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
He is fantastic, both as an artist and as a person.
I think a lot of people maybe see him and
think he's like the fifties thing. Oh, he just likes
Elvis and he's playing into this thing. He is that person.
He is he was raised on like fifties sixties music,
and so that's just what's in him. It's like I
was raised on country music, so country music comes out
of me. He was raised on fifty sixties classics, and
(25:22):
that's just what comes out of him. It's so authentic
and so incredible. And then off stage, he's just a
seventeen year old kid. Like he's just fun and awesome.
And it's been so sweet of him to take me
up both the Spring and fall. We did the Extended
Falls into Place tour, and his fans are mine and
I'm theirs, and it's just like it's such a fun,
(25:42):
fun dynamic and his crowd's just so awesome, and I
love that I get to call them I own now too.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Talk to me about just the most fun part of
this ride, and the fun for me is just watching
you grow at the same time. You know, we started
this thing. When I started this thing, I didn't know
where I was going back in twenty nineteen. It's coming
up on six years for me now, and any worry,
I can't believe that where this is gone, your career's gone.
The fun part of the ride, and then on the
back side of that too, the flip of the coin
the most challenging part of the ride since twenty twenty
(26:09):
major debut.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Yeah, absolutely, I think that the best part. It's kind
of it's kind of one on the same coin. It's
really based on mindset. I think the greatest wins I
feel are genuinely whenever I remember my why and I'm
focused on my purpose, which I genuinely feel like is
to love on people really well through music. So when
I can remember that, it's always a win and I'm
so grateful for it. And whenever I start getting distracted
(26:32):
from that or I get lost in like the comparison
game or the speed of things or anything like that,
that's kind of when I feel my lowest. So as
long as I keep my y right in front of me,
I think that I feel like I'm winning. I feel
like there's a good if I'm loving on one person
that day and one person's hearing a song and feeling
impacted by it like that, I'm doing it, you know, for.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
Me, no doubt too. All right, give me the kind
of landscape of the next year, two years maybe after
all the tremendous growth and songs like love You Back
as well as they're doing right now. I know musicians
never rest on their laurels. There's always something out there
ready to go next, coming up there to more shows,
more music, or another reason for me to get you
back here on the show, because I get all the
(27:11):
information on that too, and that's how we set these
things up. Looking forward to that too, and you guys
keep me in business, which is a great hit AKTC
True Country ninety nine to nine, but kind of forecast
that for me the next year too. What do you
most looking forward to?
Speaker 1 (27:23):
I'm working on a really special project right now. I
don't have enough information to divulge yet, but I have
written some of my favorite songs by a landslide in
the last few months. And it's crazy because I've been
busier than literally ever and somehow like still being able
to pull a little bit of creativity out. But I've
just been working with some incredible people and writing some
(27:43):
really really special songs that I feel like are the
most me I've ever been and I have a lot
of plans to share them, and I can't wait to
do that. And obviously twenty twenty five Grendel Opera debut,
hopefully fingers crossed.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
I didn't get to see her make hers I know
you're just coming there twenty twenty five, but Taylor Austin died.
They said she did a wonderful job and played some
great songs, and of course I know she's been on
the way up over the past a few years. And
of course the interview comes out here at KKTC this Friday.
Be able to look out for that too. Her new
album Sick of Me, and You're gonna be I guess
sick of Me here on this show here because we're
not going away the backstage past powered by the Sports
(28:20):
Guys podcast dot com and I'm just kidding out there.
We love bringing you the best and brightest artist in
country music. All right. We mentioned this when you go
back home or they come to Nashville this year, as
you talked about earlier. Food wise, do you do the cooking?
Somebody do the cooking? For you, or they are like
family recipes that kind of come out for the holidays.
Talk to me about that.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Yeah, I'm in charge of the cheesy potato castrole. Every
year we go kind of have our thing, and I
feel like I've coined that, I've perfected it. So I'm
always in charge of that and then usually get thrown
another thing or two. But if I don't have ingredients,
if I don't have strict instructions, I'm gonna screw something up.
So don't make me the show.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
Guilty is charge right there too, specific instrucges that get
the dish or you.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
Want to mind if that's helpful.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
I love it too, all right. Favorite place or place
is hard to pick one in Nashville that you just
love to go out, either hang out, hole in the wall,
place chain, what is it? Kind of food you know
kind of strikes the fancy there in Nashville.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
When I'm home, I think I love Pinewood Social for
like a like if I need to work at a
coffee shop all day long, that's like my place to go.
I love Sinko to Mayo, just a Mexican restaurant chain.
Everyone's got their little hole in the wall Mexican joint
that is mine. Sinco to Mayo is my spot. I
know they're a lot. I love Bar Taco. My favorite
(29:36):
coffee in town is Phil Barnes. He's a writer. He
wrote my song slow Down with Me. He is incredible
and he just makes the best latte on the planet.
So if you want coffee, it's a little bit got
to get an invite, but like, that's the coffee spot.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
I gotta do that and take your bell. Those recommendations
coming back there for CRS hopefully, and the course CMI
week coming up next year too, and of course everybody
enjoyed those CMA Awards. She's on the lookout out there.
If you look through that lens, it's got Halle Kerns
in it. Over the next few years and just the
incredible career keeps growing in the songs like the Love
You Back in that Quarter Life Crisis EP across all
the digital streaming platforms. Check her out at Halle Kerns
(30:13):
dot com. It would be a few select dates where
she passes through a city near you. Always appreciate you
being an OG of the show and coming back. I
love promoting the music and looking forward to doing this again.
In twenty twenty five. Happy holidays and best of luck
moving forward.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Man, Thank you so much. I'm so happy for you too,
and just thank you for everything. Thank you for always
having met one.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
