is out there. Tear it up across all the platforms.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Marcy, how you doing, I'm great, how are you?
Speaker 2 (01:52):
It's good? I mentioned that last week of August and
it's crazy how we're getting into the twenty fifth, twenty six,
twenty seventh. Then we're going, we're knocking on Labor Day
is crazy.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yeah, that's crazy, it's crazy. This month just flew. It
just flew, and it's my birthday month, so I don't know,
it did lasts very long.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Happy early birthday. There you go. Thanks, it's been crazy too,
hey Fellows said all that on play some music right
off the top of a couple of songs here in
one called Knockout you know, coming up here in a
little bit the title track of course, tear it Up.
But a great project here for you. We hadn't talked
since El Camino came out, and some of those great
songs you had early on in twenty twenty one. Speaking
(02:31):
of how time does fly out there too. We were
talking before the show, which is a good thing out there,
but great selection of songs, and tell us all about
the collaboration of this album and the writing. I want
to hear the whole story load.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Yeah, yeah, so you know this album, it's my first
full length album, and I wanted to really make sure
that I put out a project that represented my band's
live show because you know, the last ep, you know
it was it was, you know, good and a little
bit of poppy. But our show is pretty rocking. We
(03:02):
like to say we're really a rock band disguised as
a country band, and so we wanted to make sure
that this album represented that. And so it's definitely got
it still got the country twaying in there. You know,
we have some fiddle and some pedal steel in there,
but you know, it's definitely guitar driven. And we're so
happy that it's finally out and that everybody can hear
(03:23):
it and really kind of get a sense of me
and my band and you feel like you're at one
of our live shows.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
You know, as you've gone through your career, looking back
and people evolve over time, it takes an artist a
long time to understand what the music business is all about.
Maybe some went to school for it, maybe some just
jumped into it from another career. But looking back on it,
how have you matured as an artist over the years,
and kind of when you found that Marcy Grace sound?
Tell me about that.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Yeah, you know, you know, and I'll say that I'll
say this, you know, for a while, I kind of
got stuck as a songwriter and writing songs that I
thought had to be with the trend and commercial and
you know, good for radio, and and really that way,
I just wasn't writing music for myself and writing music
that i've you know, meant something to me and made me,
(04:11):
you know, uh feel something. And so I you know,
I changed that a little while back and I just
decided I was going to write songs that made me
feel something, meant something to me, and if people like it,
they like it, and if they don't, well I guess
they don't. But but no, so far, the you know,
writing that way has has really been a you know,
a great response from the fans and from everybody and
(04:34):
that listens to it. So I'm just gonna keep doing
what I'm doing. But I think that that's really what
has helped me richer as an artist. It's just really
not writing for you know, what's the trend and with
that and writing you know, something that makes me feel something.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
That's a music it's all about. We call it therapy sometimes.
I think people have heard that one before. Yeah, it's
always to bring you out of some mood or get
you in a mood that you want to be in
and it's just therapeutic. I love it so much, you know,
it makes me think about it. Texas Country have had
so many great Texas artists here on the program. You
know the market very well, how this thing works when
it comes to like trying to tour here and get
down here near. Texas is one of the toughest states,
or at least I've been told it's one of the
(05:11):
toughest ones. And if you're not knocking on the holl
of doors down here, it's hard to get into those
dance halls and those fairs and festivals to play live shows.
How can you continue to work that like over the
years and really kind of perfect that Texas market was
so much competition though.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Yeah, Texas Texas is big, but it's it's a really
like a small music community. Really everybody knows each other,
so you know, I really think that, you know, in
any market you're in as an artist, I think networking
is the number one thing that you can do. Network, network, network, right,
So No, I've really, you know, enjoyed my time in
(05:44):
the scene and meeting people and the people that have
I've met and made friends with, and we all kind
of help each other and lift each other up and
so I think it's really more about networking and all
of that. But that's that's helped me. But you know,
I just love Texas and that the scene is so
vast with like you can lean a little bit more traditional,
(06:06):
you can lean a little bit more country rock like
I do, and it's still all under that Texas country genre.
So it's really cool.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Love it so much there, and there's a little something
for everybody now that blend of music. I feel like
making a smoothie. Sometimes you throw it all in a blender,
let it rock and roll up, and you never know.
You might like what you taste and sometimes you may not.
But hey, like I said, throw it all on a blender,
And that's what the good beauty thing about music. Varieties
of spice of life, and it could become your favorite
drink right now and then too when it comes down
to Tom to tear it up here Marcy Grace dot
(06:36):
com for the website out there too as well, and
of course go download the music across all the DSPs,
the new brand new ten song first full length record

sixty six three two five seventy nine eighty two B
and B construction services out there, construction, commercial remodel, steel buildings,
Bardon Winiams, Custom Homes out there too, based out of Sealy, Texas.
Done correct and with respect, they will travel seven one
three eight nine zero twenty five fifty one, give rent
(12:56):
a call for your next project. And our friends at
the Morel firmalizing an eighteen wheeler commercial truck REX in
the top one percent of all lawyers out there to
having tried over fifty cases to verdict one hundred percent results.
I don't know many firms that do that out there too.
There is no second best seven one three four seven
zero four zero zero five. So let's talk about Tear
It Up out there. Love this one brand new record.
(13:18):
I mentioned Marcy loved this song. A really set the
tone for the record, didn't it.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Yeah, Yeah, it's uh it's definitely like the uh it
encompasses what we really were trying to accomplish with this
with this album. And you know, a lot of these
songs we've been playing live for a little while, we
just never got around to recording them, and Tear It
Up is one of those ones that we've been playing
live for a few years and people really like it,
and so we're like, we have to put it on
this record. And I just think that the title itself
(13:45):
just kind of explained the record the best, you know,
and so we just went with that and yeah, it's
it's definitely guitar driven.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Definitely, it's got that. Also know the title off the
record there too. I mentioned it set the tone for
the record, and it was a second song and the
one that really I mean. Put it out there and
available for pre order now too. They can pre order
at marcigrace dot com too, correct and all the different DSPs.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Uh yeah, yep, you can go through there as well.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
All right, make sure you guys do that right now too,
because I've already listened to the whole thing. That's the
person we're going to be in ready. We always heard
this as a saying, or at least I did. My
grandma was named Bessie b E S S I E.
But it was kind of cool because we used to
mistake that name for Betsy b T s Y. The
first one heavens to Betsy tell us all about this
when the old expression now becomes one of the songs
(14:33):
on the album, I love this.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
Yeah, well, you know, and it's so funny because I
didn't even know about that saying until like maybe a
few years ago when my dad said it, and I thought,
I thought he made it up, and then he told me,
know it's a it's an old saying, and so I
thought it would make a great song. And I I
tried to imagine, you know, I you know, the saying
Heavens to Betsy. You know, how funny would it be
(14:56):
if Betsy was actually a person, and how wild would
she have to be to have that saying about her?
And so I just kind of you know, sat down
and and and got to write and some some crazy
woman named Betsy and and that story just came out.
It was It was pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
I love it too well. I definitely uh set the
tone for the record, both that one and Tear it Up.
If you want the Rainbow one of the ones people
can get on a pre order.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
Now talk about this one for me, Yeah, if you
want the Rainbow. So that was actually one of the
first songs that that I wrote after I kind of
decided that I was going to just start writing music
for myself and things. And so, you know, not necessarily
that I just write it for myself, but you know
something that that you know, pertains to to what I'm feeling,
(15:41):
and so you know, that song was very much about
the journey it is and chasing your dreams and and
some kind of highlights some some of the behind the
scenes things that maybe people don't get to see, you know,
and they they see all the all the good stuff
on social media, but they don't see all of the
hard work that you put through when you're when you're
you know, trying to build your your business and trying
(16:03):
to chase your dreams. And you know, it's it's lots
of you know, on time on the road and time
away from family and you know, tears and and joy
and all of the things. And so that song really
really kind of represents all of that for me. And yeah,
the ending line is if you want the rainbow, you
gotta have a little rain and so you know, you
(16:25):
just you get through it, and it's the reward at
the end.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
And I will talk about this reward because I think
it's beneficial to talk about too, and we got to
put it out there for all the listeners. Twenty twenty
five Emerging Songwriter of the Year Marcy Griggs. Now that's great,
just a title to put on a.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Resume, right, Yeah, Yeah, I was really surprised with that.
You know, I knew I was up for it, you know,
but you know there are some other great songwriters in
that category and to win it, uh you know, the
Texas Internet Radio Musical Wards and it was just it
was just a really cool, cool feeling and it just,
(17:05):
I don't know, kind of is a testament to what
I've been trying to focus on, which is the songwriting.
And so it's great.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Congratulations on that too as well. There's also a store
on Marcigrace dot com. Go there and check it out.
I actually like what I see, so you never know,
Like I said, we're gonna have a store coming up

Love those great folks there always community oriented at jksuberu
dot com eight six sixty three two five seventy nine
eighty two. And our friends the Cadan Gordon Show, Today's
Best contry Exit of course, all those great projects out there.
B and B Construction Services seven one three eight nine
zero twenty five point fifty one. And the Morale Law
firm out there too, eighteen wheeler commercial truck reps. Top
(23:03):
one percent of all lawyers. Try to fifty cases to
verdict guess what they haven't lost a hundred percent results.
Call her text free Consultation seven one to three, four
to seven zero, four thousand and five. Becker Marcy Grace
on the show Knockouts, I mentioned that one too, as
I went to break there too, love this one, high energy, SaaS, attitude,
any adjective you can think of where it's just like
(23:24):
kind of like that song where it's a shot in
the gut, it's had it all right, it did.
Speaker 11 (23:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (23:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Somebody else said it was like Dolly Parton on the steroids,
and I was like, oh, yeah, I'll take that, I guess.
But no, that was a fun song. You know, I'm
a huge sports fan, so like sports is my you know,
second passion in life. So whether it's you know, football
or basketball, but boxing is really one of my favorite sports.
(23:51):
And so it was just kind of cool to kind
of sit down and write a song that, you know,
I find that there's similarities minus like you know, the
punches but in the ring versus on the dance floor,
because it's really kind of two people, you know, kind
of dancing, you know, And so there were some good,
you know, analogies that we threw in there, and it
was just it was a really fun song and we
(24:14):
love playing it live too. The crowd really enjoys it.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
And speaking of playing it live too, a lot of
cool stuff coming up there mentioned Marcigrace dot com, The tours.
Sam's Burger Joint August twenty fourth, coming up there in
San Antonio, Texas, a place I know very well. Talk
to us about that, and of course going over to Fulton,
Texas Round Rock going up there to a great place
in Long Branch Saloon, which is coming up there September fifth.
(24:38):
Ramsa's passed. I just came back from there a few
weeks ago. Down to visiting Fort Ramas to Dorono's Restaurant
and Bar on the nineteenth. Talk about this staying busy
with live.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Shows, right, yeah, yeah, and that's really you know, I
enjoy that part, you know, the most of anything.
Speaker 11 (24:54):
You know.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Now we're having a couple of album release shows, you know,
starting you know, this weekend at SAMs Burger Joint. We're
gonna be having a great time, got some surprises lined up.
It's gonna be a really really good time out there.
It's an early show too, so it starts at six pm,
but you know, our and then we're having another album
(25:17):
release show at Headliners in Fulton, Texas. And now, you know,
I'm from San Antonio originally, but I'm living in Rockport,
Texas now over by the coast, Texas Coast yeah, I know. Yeah, yeah,
So we're having an album release show over there. It's
we also partnered with the Rockport Songwriter Association and they've
(25:39):
been a really great organization for songwriters down here, and
so if anybody wants to check them out there, they've
got a really great songwriter festival in November as well,
and so it's a it's it's a really cool scene.
But we've got some great shows coming up. We've always
are updating them on the website, so come check it out.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
You gotta do that too, Definitely. I wish I was
back down there. If you weeks, they'll be like, yep,
I know where I'm going down in the ramses past
all the shows. If you missed anything, I just reel
them off because I talk fast to play by play
thing at football. But hey, Marcy Grace dot com out
there for all the exact in print. You can see
it on the screen there too, because people don't maybe
not have the identic memory I try to have. So
(26:17):
it's like you got to be got to see it
on print, see it on a page to be able
to know what's going on there too. With that, uh,
you know, I mentioned how fast this year is flown
by and what I want to pay respect to is
well a couple of things. One, I want to get
your opinion on just how fast this female category is
moving right now, not just what Landy Wilson's doing in Nashville,
but I'm talking about Priscilla Block, to Ella Langley, to
(26:40):
any lady you mentioned right now. It's one name after another,
Ashley Cook, Hannah Ella's and they go on and on,
Ashley McBride, Carly Pierce, talk about this, How that feels
your fire and when you see these ladies finally getting
that due diligence, that respect they deserve.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Yeah, you know, I you know, it's it's always kind
of the thing about like you don't want to say
it that it's harder for women in the industry, but
it is a little bit harder for women in the industry.
And I've I've had my experiences. I'm not going to
talk about it on here, but you know, it's it's
it's really great to see these amazing, strong women, you know,
(27:16):
lead the way for other women as well. And so
I think that right now, it's just like I don't know,
I just feel like, like you said, it's kind of
like it's it's on fire right now for for women
and and and especially in the country scene. And I
think they're making some and releasing some great songs that
are out there. I like listening to their their music
right now. And so I, you know, I hope that
(27:38):
I can also, you know, be a leader. And even
if it's in the Texas market, you know, there's a
lot of great female artists in the Texas market as well,
and so I I just you know, I I want
to see that fire continue here in Texas as well.
And and you know, have some really great, great women
on the on the top of the charts.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
I will said there too. And the other thing was
was kind of one sad note. Greatest performer female of
the Opry of all time. Had a chance to interview
her at least two or three times here on the show.
And may she rest in peace. And I tell you
I love her so much, love her family was so
connected there put my show on the Grand Ole Opry
last year on WSM for twenty twenty five shows that
(28:19):
ran with him over consecutive months. The loss of Jeanie Seeley.
I wanted to touch on this because she meant so
much to the opry. I want to ask, did you
follow her music? And of course, you know, everybody got
the news. It really hit the industry very hard because
over fifty years Marcie she stepped on that stage and
delivered the goods, didn't she.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Yeah, yeah, I mean such a legend in the industry,
you know, I do you know, I of course know
who she is, and you know, know her music, and
I wish I would have gotten to, you know, meet
her or any of that. But no, I just think
one of the trailblazers and one of the most important voices,
(29:01):
you know, especially for women in the industry as well,
and so it's it's definitely a sad loss, for sure.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
I'll never forget one of the first things that gives
me just chills over right down my arm right there too,
And that's how much I love what I do, right
down my spine. She would come on and I'd say, Genie,
how are you. She looked back and she'd go, Brandon,
I'm doing okay, how are you doing, my friend? And
it would always be the words. She treating people the
way they wanted to be treated, and it's so sincere
and so honest, and I love it so courteous love. Jeannie.
(29:30):
I say, gone, I just wrote this issue. But you
know what, you're looking down from those yellow brick roads
above and keeping an eye on all of us, like,
don't do this, don't do that, stay it, stay in
good taste out there doing yeah, down love Genie and
her family. Hey, you mentioned sports. I got to bring
it up because I'm in the midst of this Astros season.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Now.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
I've had some rants on Facebook and stuff like that too.
Went to a game a couple of nights ago to
I know you're from San Antonio. It's hot up there
between Astros Rangers, and every time those two clubs get together,
I'm down here by U Houston. So yeah, obviously I'm
taking my friends in the blue of the orange and
the white that begins Stros Baseball. Isn't the Astros for you?
Speaker 9 (30:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Astros Astros for me? Yeah, I mean, I'll list my
teams like it's Astros h Dallas Cowboys, even though it's
you know, it's a love hate relationship right now. But
of course the San Antonio Spurs and then San Antonio's
also got the United Football League with the San Antonio
(30:29):
Bramos football team as well, and I got to write
the theme song for their for their team and everything too.
So it was just I don't know, I'm enjoying sports
a lot right now.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
It's a fun time. You're enjoy it too. Like I said,
football is kicking off here a couple of weeks. I
hope my Arizona Cardinals do a little bit better this
year too. I quit being a cowboy fand years back,
so I switched over in there the Texans fan. I
was like, like the direction that organization was going, So
I went with my JJ Watt and DeAndre Hopkins at
the time they became Cardinals, and of course I out
there fell in love with Arizona. It's kind of hard
(31:03):
not to fall in love with Arizona, but I did,
and so I became a Cardinal fan, hoping for better
for Kyler Murray, another Texas kid there too at the
same time. And you know, again, Texas kid like Jalen
hurts to win the Super Bowl. You just root for
Texas kids. That's always a fun time to do that.
Speaker 11 (31:20):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
You know, Cee may Wake was a blur. I missed
you there. If you were there, you might have been
on the road plane. I just missed you there.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
It was strange.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
We got to eat at some pretty cool places. One
of them was three one two Pizza over Germantown's Chicago style,
and then we went to the sixth floor diner Bar
Taco had my hot chicken. So I sailed that in
Bade a long time ago. When you get to Nashville
and you're in a rider's round or you get to record,
you go to one of the big events, where do
you like to eat? What are some of your favorite places?
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Oh? Man, well, I mean it's probably typical, like you said,
but like Hattie Bee's Hot Chicken, Like I dream about
that chicken. That is the best chicken I ever had.
So yeah, that's that's definitely like the top place for me.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
That's great too. I settled mine between that one and Princess.
I didn't try a party foul. There was three or
four out Well there's many out there now, right.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
Yeah, yeah, there are there are. I've tried princes too.
I just I don't know something about hottibes. I like
the most out of all of them. But yeah, they're
just they're propping up everywhere over there.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Now we'll say this too, this is no pun intending
When I say this, but no mean, no disrespect. I
just won't get it at the airport. When I'm flying
at BNA, I have to go off the airport site
next to drive to the restaurant to get it there.
That's just the thing I have to do. Does that
kind of makes sense?
Speaker 1 (32:40):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah for sure. And you know there's
gonna be a line, but hey, you know it's worth it.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
The one right there on Broadway, Yes, it's worth it.
Right there on the other side of Bridgetone is one
of my favorite ones to stop at. The original there too.
Love Haddie Bees so much there. Don't mind throwing them
the pre plug is facts like you, they don't need it,
but I'm wist say it anyways. My favorite hot chicken
out there too. All Right, If Marcy Grace was had
never become a musician singer songwriter, what other career path
(33:08):
would you have done?
Speaker 1 (33:10):
Definitely something in sports, probably sports broadcasting, something like that
for sure.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
So if I say I need some help on color
commentary this year for high school football, can we want or.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
Something, I'd be happy to do it. Yeah. You know,
I've been asked by a couple of different radio stations
where I did some other sports reports for a little bit,
and so yeah, you know, I'm down for it. Anytime
you have.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
