And welcome inside the Backstage Pass. Of course, the new
week of shows and happy early fourth of July to
everybody out there. You know it's coming up next week.
Only one full week left in the month of June.
Hard to believe the second quarter is almost complete of
the year, and of course we just keep kicking ass
taking names here on the show again presented by our
friends over at the Kadangordonshow dot com today's best country
(00:38):
makes and our friends over there at B and B
Construction Services is done corrected with respect out there too
for all your needs at bard Dominium's custom homes, commercial
remodels and steal buildings based out of Sealy, Texas, they
will travel done correct and with respect. Get Brett a
call out there seven one, three, eight nine, zero, twenty
five fifty one. It's BnB Construction Services out there too
(00:59):
as well, and of course I always say construction on
a new single, a new record, a new album. One
of the most talented ladies in the business out there,
the singles already getting critics, reviews, and a whole lot
more out there love it. It's kind of that comeback
for her. Glad to see her put out some great
music humble again across all the digital streaming platforms. Meghan
lindsay to the program Megan, how you doing.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Hey, I'm good. How are you?
Speaker 4 (01:21):
It's good?
Speaker 2 (01:21):
You know, its like happy early fourth of July. Can
you believe it's almost the fourth of July.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
No, it's crazy. It's flying, man, it's flying. It's hot
enough though. I can tell it's I can tell we're
almost there.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
I can tell yes here in Texas very much. The
triple digit weather is not there yet, but like I said,
it is coming in the dog days of summer coming up.
I was down at the beach this past weekend a
little bit of R and R with the family, and
we took the camper out. So eighty seven eighty eight degrees.
I think the humidity was like seventy percent. It was
not totally bad this past weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Nice man, I need a beach day I'm jealous.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Hey, let's talk about like I said, you've been a
stranger of this thing called music for some time. Out
there to've been doing it for a long time, coming
off a show like The Voice out there Too, which
is world renowned NBC's hit TV reality show, to talk
about just lessons learned on there too, and you know,
the audition from the best memories that you have from
coming off a platform like that, learning so much from coaches,
(02:19):
and they teach you a lot about the music business,
right they do.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Man, it's you know, it's a it's a crazy process
and it's very I don't think you like realize it
while you're in it, Like you kind of see it
back later on TV and you're.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Like, oh, wow, I did that. That's insane.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
But when you're in it, you're just in it, you know,
and it's it's it's a lot of uh, just hurry
up and wait, and it's it's a lot of not
sleeping very much. And it's a crazy process. But I
feel like I, you know, I had a really good time.
I had a really good I had great you know coaches,
I had I was on Pharrell's team, and then I
was stolen by Blake, and so I just kind of
(02:55):
had like the best of both worlds with that, and
just I learned a lot.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
I think I learned a lot about.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Myself just in general, because I had had, you know,
Previix's success with Steel Magnoia my band, and then we
broke up, and I was like, oh, what now you know?
And then I kind of got a call asking if
i'd be interested in auditioning, and I hadn't really even
thought about it, just kind of was like, you know,
what else am I doing?
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Why not?
Speaker 1 (03:20):
So but I learned a lot about just myself and
my ability to be resilient and to find my voice
and just keep going. And that's been my whole journey.
I mean, it's so up and down, and you know,
the business, it just is. It's what it is.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
So it is up and down, no doubt, and of
course it's ever changing. And now you know, streaming has
impacted it so much too. Now I go back to
your first album that you had put out there, which
was amazing, a bold like a lion, talk about just
some of the best memories off of that record, mister
Home Record, one of my favorite songs there too. At
the same time, and of course ryder Or died. Like
(03:54):
I said, pretty much, sometimes life is that way when
it comes down with it. Looking back, what you remember
just the best memories about that record.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Too, Man, I just I got to work with really
cool people on that record. I had a song on
there with Fred Schneider from the B fifty Two's such
a cool guy, like just an absolute legend, and so
that was one of my favorite My favorite things was
working with him and being we were in the studio,
you know, in New York City, and he's just he's
just so off the cuff and uh crazy and just
(04:24):
like just such a good human and so we had
a really good time in the studio. I also got
to work with Alo Black on that record. We had
a duet called say It to My Face, which is
kind of about the haters on the internet. But yeah,
he's so cool to work with. We also wrote Save
Me from Myself together too, that was on that record.
So it's just got to got to work with really
(04:46):
cool people, and uh, you know, that's all you can
ask for, you know, is to be able to like
make music with your friends and enjoy it and have fun.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
You know.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Yeah, it's becoming more of the norm now and kept
your music. We're just there at to CM a fist
and Nashville did all great interviews there at the Music
City Center and in walks through to you know, two
guys I never thought would be together. One was Acon
and of course Gary Labox, the lead singer, a founder
of Araska Flats and putting out a summer anthem called
Hold the Umbrella. I think it's a really cool thing
for country music that you're getting some of these crossovers.
(05:15):
You see Acon coming in, you see Acon now with
Josh Ross. You see, like I said yourself, you collab
with a lot of great producers and of course musicians
on records you mentioned they're Alo Black and of course others.
But looking back, I mean it's a great thing for
a good time being a music fan, and I think
it's very healthy with these collabs, right.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
I love it. Man.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
I had a song with Kingy a few years ago,
you know, was a my my husband and I put
out a duo project and we did a thing with
Chingy the rapper, and like, I don't know, I just
think there's a lot of parallels between you know, rap
music and country music and just music brings people together,
and I think like that's important, especially now.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
So it's cool to it's cool to be able to.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Cross genres and work with different people and get different perspectives.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
You know.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Let's talk a little bit about the last single a
little bit other too. I loved it. It was a
while back, well, twenty twenty four, last year too. It
feels feels like that. I guess now the time is
like Alien a little bit too. I love the song.
I love what it meant, like I said what it
stood for, and of course a lot of things out
there too with that message, you know, resonating with fans
talk about Alien.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
For me, man I wrote that I write a lot
of songs in the bathtub. I know that's kind of funny,
but I think it's the only place where, like I'm
just not thinking about nine million things and I'm just
kind of relaxed, and so a lot of songs come
come from that. But every time our rents do, my
husband's like, go take a bath.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
But yeah, that song is just you know it.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
I feel like we all kind of, you know, sometimes
we have imposter syndrome.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
We feel like an outsider.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
We feel like, you know, it's this especially in this business,
it's like it's just who are your real friends? You know?
And so that was kind of it kind of came
from that place, you know, of like trying to figure
out like, okay, like sometimes I just don't even know
really really who I am, what I'm doing, you know,
And so I just kind of wrote about it, and
I think I think it really resonated with a lot
(07:05):
of people because I think that's you know a lot
of people feel like that, you know, you feel kind
of you know, that imposter syndrome thing or like you
like if you're not.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Good enough or whatever. So I was just I was
just being honest.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
I love this. You got a chance to do an
event back in May of this year, a Variety's Power
of Women event. Got to a star studying crowd there too,
which was really awesome too. Tell all the listeners about
this with honoring Reba, Kelsey, Vallerina, Chryl Crow, and a
whole lot more.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Yeah, man, it was a wild thing.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
I was like, actually, I think that might be Even
with doing the voice and the tours that I've done
and stuff, I think this was probably the most nervous
I've ever been to sing in a room and it
was you know, it was a It was a huge
event honoring Riba. It was Mickey Geiton, Kelsey Vallerini and
Cheryl Crowe and I came out and did a medley
(07:56):
of all of their songs with them in the room,
which was crazy.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
That's an insane thing to do. That's an insane thing
to sign up for as an artist.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
So I got to I got to do that, and
then I got to I kind of got to talk
about each one of them and how they've impacted me,
and then I ended up singing my single as well.
So I mean I was up there for a while.
I was sweating, you know, Riba. I came down after
I was done, and Reba hugged me and she was like, girls,
she was like, you couldn't pay me. She was like,
I would never sign up to do this gig. I
(08:29):
was like, dang, you know, she was like, you've got
some balls. I was like, thanks, I guess I do.
But yeah, it was a It was a crazy, crazy thing,
but it went so well and everybody was so kind
and gracious, and you know, I got to meet Cheryl
Crowe and she's one of my heroes, and you know,
I sang her song strong Enough, which you know growing
(08:51):
up that was like, man, that whole record, all those
songs were everything to me growing up. So it's cool
to It's cool when you meet your heroes and like
they're just as cool, you know, in real life. And yeah,
that was great.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Regular people, no doub about it. I've had a lot
of heroes here doing this show the Backstage Pass, and
of course they just regular people just like yourself, but
always find to meet new people and to again support

If you need me, don't so, my friend. We got
to talk about this one too, because I mentioned all
the great media attention this got too, and of course
(14:21):
it was that music video was aired on the Kelly
Clarkson Show. Talk about this one because this did real
well for you.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
It really did, man.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
You know, it was cool to It's always cool to,
you know, get the get the critical acclaiming for people
to like what you're doing.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
You know.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
I actually got to perform it on the Kelly Clarkson Show,
which was super cool. You know, she's always been She's
the top of my list, one of the best singers,
you know, our of our time, I think, one of
the best voices.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
So really cool to be able to do her show.
And yeah, I don't know. It just kind of that
song I wrote.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
With my friend Julie and my husband Tyler, and it
was just really like kind of just a fun line
and you know, if you need me, don't, I'm.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Just like, oh, that sounds like a song.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
So we wrote it and yeah, it's just fun and
sassy and soulful.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
Got to really showcase.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Like my New Orleans roots on that one. And yeah,
I don't know, I love that song.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Beautiful song too. Congratulations on the twenty twenty five Modern
Luxury Nashville Power Player. I love this too. Any any
great It's abouthful too, no doubt. But at the same time,
doing a lot of cool things too. Any any kind
of a word recognition or getting named in a category
right there too as well to you know, do your cause,
do what you have meant to do what you set
(15:36):
out to do for a lot of years, and that
spread spread music out there, championing women, which I love
so much to talk about this.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
For me, yeah, man, I've always you know, I think
it's important. I've always been into you know, the sisterhood
in music and you know, uplifting each other because I mean,
it's hard enough, you know, to be a woman. And
you know, we've seen we've seen the polls, you know
about how many how much women are played on country radio,
and it's it's kind of sad. So you know, I
think it's important that we stick together and support each
(16:04):
other and uplift each other however we can.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
And I've always been a champion for that.
Speaker 8 (16:09):
You know.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
It's been uh, it's been part of my mission for sure.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
This is my whole career.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
I love it so much, you know. And we're talking
about this a little before the show, the women's empowerment movement,
interviewing a lot of female artists here on my program
that I do male artists. It just happens to work
out that way too, no doubt, but this is a
great time to be a female in country music. We
had a lot of conversations with executives, people in the
business and things like that too. And of course a
lot of great artists step by the booth at CMA
Fest recently, and I started talking about of course, you know,
(16:37):
Landy Wilson came up in conversation, but so much now
with right behind him, and you're included right there with
Hannah Ellis and Ashley Cook and Megan Maroney so many
other ladies. Ask McBride, Carly Peers talk about just what
this means for country music and specifically the women's category.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Man, I feel like women are putting out the best
songs personally, Like everything I'm hearing on on you know,
when I hear the new stuff that's coming out and
just you know, the new stuff. I listened to The
Highway a lot and your show and just all these
different radio programs. I'm like, I'm always excited to hear
what the women have to say and just the creative writing.
I mean, Mega Maroney's record was one of my favorites, Like,
(17:13):
I just think she's such a great writer, and the
songs are just the songs are just they're cut above,
you know, and it's cool to see the women like
having that moment where we're really putting, we really have
a lot to say, and we're saying it and we're
not really holding back, and I think that that's it's
really cool.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Well, time for some more music here on the backstage pass.
It's Meghan Lindsay Here it's called Humble Again, recently really

I guess everything was just too good. The ship was
too long course, and a storm came region and it
sucked me and spit me out. Now I'm humbled again.
Speaker 11 (18:32):
Then I crossed. I used to have not deils. I
they don't call me back.
Speaker 13 (18:39):

Speaker 3 (19:04):
I used to live for a high.
Speaker 5 (19:06):
Now I don't know who I am. Ice to ride
and a sporter bus. Now I'm back in the bad.
Speaker 7 (19:14):
And I'm home bullyin. Look my hands, class, I have not.
Speaker 11 (19:28):

(22:16):
fifty one. It's B and B Construction Services out there.
To the latest single right there, Humble again from Meghan
Lindsay came out back in April of this year. We
got to talk about this one. I mentioned how much
the last one got critical acclaim there too. In twenty
twenty two. But I love this song and it really
takes me back to Megan. It makes me think a
lot about just myself growing up and how it really
is to be fortunate, to be humbled, to be resilient,
(22:38):
to be thankful and blessed for what you have in
your life. I know for me, it's God, my family, faith,
all those good things too, and just what you've worked
hard to achieve. Talk about this one for me?
Speaker 3 (22:47):
Yeah, I mean same for me.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
You know, it's it's just been like such a journey,
and you know, like I started, I made my first
record when I was sixteen, you.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
Know, and I'm not going.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
To tell you exactly how old I'm going to be, but.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
But I've been doing this for over twenty years.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
So it's been it's been a journey, and it's been
a lot of like were talking earlier, it's very.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Up and down.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
And you know, one minute you're on like you know,
the rebatur and you have a record deal, and then
the next minute you're like, what what am I gonna
do now?
Speaker 3 (23:15):
And so it's really you know, I know it's cheesy
to say.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
I know, people say like, oh, it's all about It's
really about the journey. But it truly is, and it's
it's about waking up and being grateful and living in gratitude,
and you know, I think that that's that's what it's
really all about. I think, you know, recently, I I
have a program I do at the Country Music Hall
of Fame and I work with kids to write songs
(23:40):
and record them. And that's like that's actually been one
of the greatest like joys of my life. Like I
really enjoy doing that and I feel like I get
so much from doing that with them. And I think that,
you know, you have to look at the things that
really matter and what really counts. And I love putting
out music and I you know, and I love doing
the tour and all that stuff, but it's really like
(24:01):
the getting back to my roots and the giving back
and the you know, being with my family, Like those
are the things that really matter to me. And I
think that those are Like for so long I identified with
my my you know, artists self, and that was who
I was. But it really is just about you know,
getting back to the basics and and you know, finding
gratitude and every day.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Love it too. I Mean recently I did an event too,
Remember it was actually the spring. It was Grammy's on
the Hill in DC. Tell us all about this.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Oh my gosh, man, that was a crazy thing.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
I got to, you know, sing a tribute from Randy Travis,
which obviously is one of the greatest voices in country
music of all time. I ended up singing I told
you so. You know, he was also in the audience.
Another one of these things where he's sitting right there
watching me sing a song, you know, which is just
it's it's very humbling and I you know, I grew
(24:52):
up on his music, and so it was really really
special to be able to honor him in that way,
and you know, and to be there with everybody from
the Recording Academy and to advocate for, you know, the
rights of songwriters and artists. I mean, it's just like
it was just such a special night and such a
special event, and you know, I'm always grateful to just
(25:13):
be in the room and to be considered, and you know, it.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Was very cool.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Always great feats too as well, where you can accomplish
those things off a bucket list to and perform in
front of the greats of all time and meet your heroes,
no doubt, I want to go back to April of
last ye year one called Good Good. You know, I
had to go there because I love this one so
much too, And the writing of this one was so crisp.
I love it.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
Oh thank you man.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
I wrote that one with my husband and my friend
Tabath the Meeks, and it was really just a fun It's.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
Just a fun summer jam man.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
I feel like we were talking about this the other
night with a friend, Like we were talking about Chaboozi
and you know, his rise has been insane, and she's like,
you can't really underestimate the power of like a really catchy,
like bar song. And I think that, like, you know,
it's easy to get away from that and to get
too heady when you write. And I think that good
(26:01):
Good is like, it's just a feel good song and
I love listening.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
I'm like, what would I listen.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
To in my car if I'm on a road trip driving,
And that's that's what we wrote that day.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
And I think that, you know, it's just a fun,
fun song.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Love that one so much to it Again, there's that
riding behind it too. Really tells a story out there too.
Hey talk about some of the challenges in this business.
You mentioned doing this for over twenty years and the
ups and downs and never is it going to be
just a smooth ride out there, smooth sailing. You're going
to go through the bumps and things like that. Maybe
some things fans don't see and some of the challenges
in this industry.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Man, it's always you know, it's always interesting, and I
you know, I'm always doing something different every day. I
think for me, it's like I've I've learned to be
creative and the ways that I'm able to you know,
do this and financially make this all work, you know,
because I am independent and I am funding everything myself
and so all of my releases and everything, like I
(26:55):
have a very small, small, small team like of a
few real really just friends that are you know, always
working and on my behalf. And yeah, you really just
I think you you find out who your friends are
and you stick close to people who are are real.
And you know, I've had I've had so it's been uh,
you know, it's been a journey. I've had I've had
(27:16):
deals and I've lost deals overnight. And you know, I
worked for a year on a part that I was
going to do it on Broadway in New York City
and then I went up there to do the workshop
and I didn't get in the show. And like, there's
just so many things like that. That's just one small example,
but there's just so many things like that. You work
so hard and then something doesn't work out and you know,
(27:36):
you have to pick yourself back up, and and it's
it's it's I mean, it really is. The song Humble Again.
It's like, okay, I'm humble again.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Now what you know?
Speaker 1 (27:44):
So so it's just it's been.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
It's been very much a roller coaster. But all good man,
that's the beautiful.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
They never given up. That's the thing. They're really plan
b when it comes down to. And I always say,
I mean I always have just more of that, much
more of just that appreciation for independent an artist out there,
you like I said, you know, busting their ass kind
of you know, funding their own projects, things like that too.
And like I said, you know, some things are better
for people when they have you know, when they get
to record labels. Congratulations to them, because like I said,
every everybody's different. That's what makes this thing so so
special too. But kudos to independent artists out there for
(28:16):
what they do. Kind of you know, fund their own
stuff too, would you.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
Agree, absolutely?
Speaker 1 (28:20):
Man, Yeah, it's it's it's not for the faint of
heart for sure.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
No, it's not too. Hey, take me back to one
that was very much one of my favorite songs you
put out to and that debut single it was actually
a cover I believe it was Counting Stars. It was
a cover of One Republic too. I want to go
back to this because I really love your rendition of this.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
Thank you man.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
Yeah, you know what, I was on a cruise ship.
I was doing a show on a cruise ship. It
was a it was a country cruise and it was
Trace Adkins was headlining, and I was kind of in
the middle of the ocean and my my husband and
I had just kind of started dating, i think at
that point, and he was like, man, you should do
a cover of this song. And we just kind of
(29:01):
started playing it and that was kind of the vibe
that just naturally happened when we started playing it. And
you know, he's Tyler's a great you know, producer and
writer and a arranger and all of the things. I'm
really really lucky that I have him, obviously, But he
was like, yeah, let's put this rolling banjo in here,
and like he just had really great ideas on the
(29:22):
production and that song is really just like it's funny
because it's it's one of my like, I think, probably
one of the songs that gets the most attention of
anything I've put out, and it's it's a cover. So
it's cool to you know, when you can be creative
and just and people, you know, it resonates with people.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Now I understand till you guys are working on a
bigger project, a full length album, tell us all about
this we are man.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Yeah, I've been writing songs for you know, a few years, honestly,
trying to you know, come up with the next thing.
But I have a new single that's going to be
coming out July sixteen, and that is it's a song
called Things you Can On Say, And so that'll be
the next single, and then I'm working on working on
a new project. Some really cool collaborations, you know, I've
(30:08):
written with a lot of really cool people. I have
a song that I wrote with Chris Stapleton that I'm
gonna put on the record, and just really just really
cool people that I got to work with. And it's
definitely more country leaning. It feels like kind of Americana country,
I guess, but definitely more getting back to like my
roots and just that like acoustic sound.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Yeah, I love that too, and you know always do
when you drop the information here on the show. We're
not seeking it too as well. We appreciate you guys
announce it because I know sometimes you're not able to
do that here on the show. That you have those
and those dates are released, so we appreciate that.
Speaker 8 (30:44):
Again.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
The new single July sixteenth out there too, and I
would love to have you back on and talk more
about that too when it does come out to At
the same time, Hey, talking about this in the free
time out there when not doing music. I understand too.
We're talking a little bit before the show. You're also
a gym advocate. I try to stay there at least
three four times a week because the gym is kind
of like my sanctuary. Might get away from just doing
everything for weightlifting, the cardio to all the exercises with
(31:06):
like my personal trainers and things like that. What do
you enjoy most about the gym and do you feel
like just kind of set you for a little bit.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
Oh man, for sure, Like I've been I've been hitting
it hard for like two years now, and I think
this is the first time in my life where it's
really become like a total lifestyle for me, Like I
don't miss it's just I've become way more disciplined with it,
and it's it's really I think it has to become
a lifestyle, you know. But I have a trainer and
she's amazing. Her name is Danny D Danny D Fitness,
(31:34):
and she's you know, that's been really helpful for me
because I was not I have a hard time being
motivated on my own. I think now I'm to the
point where if I miss a day, like I'm like,
oh God, I gotta get in the gym, like I
miss it. But before like just getting into this, it
was I think that was really important for me to
have a trainer. But she's helped me so much. And
(31:55):
you know, I've had a lot of health things in
the last few years with just you know, end to
meet tsis and I had a big surgery and I
think that, you know, being in shape really helps you
know when you when you go through those things for
healing and just I don't know, it's more than it's
more than just physical, you know, it's mental too, and
so it's been great for me.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Talking about some of the other hobbies and things you
like to do kind of when not doing music in
your fun time. I guess when you get a little
free time out there too. What does that people say,
because the music life provides so much of it, but
obviously outdoors, beach, what do you like to do for
fun outside of the gym and things like that.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
Man, I love the beach.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
I just went to Costa Rica and it was like
the best trip of my life, I think, and I
go to Mexico every year.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
I just I love being on the beach. I love dogs.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
I'm sitting here with I'm sitting here with three dogs
right now. So we're a big We're big rescue people,
so we're all I'm all into the dog rescues and
beagle freedom projects a big thing that I'm a part of.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
You know.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
I have two beagles that were from testing labs, so
always advocate for them. And just man, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
I love I love interior design.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
I am always like doing some. My husband will go
on tour, you know, he tours with Gavin de Graw.
He plays guitar with him. But he'll go on tour
and he'll come home and he'll be like, You've totally
rearranged everything, and I'm.
Speaker 5 (33:15):
Like mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
I just can't sit still. I get bored. And I
like to be creative, So I don't know. I think
that I have.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
A lot of different creative outlets, you know, just as
far as like you know, I love putting clothes together.
Speaker 3 (33:27):
All my friends say that I'm their stylist.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
I mean, they'll like literally call me if they have
an event and they just come shop in my closet
and I dress them like I just I love doing
all kinds of creative stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
No, it's fun stuff there. I was talk about favorite foods.
Whether you're traveling out there a tour you guys, like
I said, home or have a night in. Do you
like to cook? Do you like takeout? Of course on
the road you got to pick like the local spots.
What do you like to eat?
Speaker 3 (33:50):
Man?
Speaker 1 (33:51):
I love I'm from Louisiana, so you know I'm from
New Orleans.
Speaker 3 (33:55):
I like I like good food like I like to eat.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
I always joke and tell my husband like, I'm you
don't even like food like you know, I just grew
up like such a food.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
Like a foodie, you know, so I have high a
high bar. But I do love to cook. You know.
I can make a crawfichet tou fe. Okay, that's you know.
I'm more. I like to cook in the winter more,
I guess, because I really like.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
Making like soups and gumbo and that kind of stuff.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
And then I love but I loved eating out.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
I mean, Nashville's like we have so many good restaurants
and places that are just opening, and I don't know,
it's fun to go try new things, and it's fun
to live in a city where, like you know, there's
always like new restaurants opening and really good food.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
So and we had a little bit of that too
when I was there, probably too much of it to
you always say I spent too much when I go
there for the events during a week, But it was
doing the show live from the Music City Center and
they took us out. We're like, we're not going to
go out after hours. Well guess what. Yeah, you put
your equipment back in your car, make sure everything's locked
and secure. They pull you out to events. You're like, okay,
this is so I got like the tin roof chicken quesadilla,
(34:58):
which was pretty good, pretty good. Jay Alexander's was so
nice steak and I think I had roasted chicken there.
So I was trying to stay in the health health
kick that I'm on a little bit here and there.
That was one of my favorite places in the diner
on the sixth floor there downtown, which was yes after
the diner was good food. I'm surprised.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
Yeah, it actually is. Man, I've been there. I've been
there late night a couple of times.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Food right there. To give me a dessert, We'll stick
with that food category. Sweet tooth. What do you like
to eat for the sweets and stuff?
Speaker 1 (35:31):
Man, I'm such a plain dessert person though, I like,
I really am. Just like I'm like vanilla ice cream
and a chocolate tive cookie, you know what I mean, Like,
give me something simple.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
I also, but then my favorite.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
Dessert is like bananas foster, probably just because like, yes.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
I grew up eating that. I love it.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
I love I don't know, I love dessert. I do
love dessert. I will always get dessert. If anybody, if
I'm at a restaurant, they're like, do you want to
see dessert. Many of the answers always yes, Yeah, I'm
always a dessert person.
Speaker 8 (36:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
I can't remember where we went, like two or three
years ago. CRS was there for one of those, and
some friends took us out to the one of the
restaurants there, another steakhouse, and I can't remember where it was.
But anyway, Banana Foster. They said, you're gonna love this
in one bite, and yeah, I was GIRLO. I was hooked.
I loved every second of it. I wanted more and
we ended up eating Like you split it like three
ways you.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
Might have to, it's a big portion.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
Usually it's a big portion. Hey, if you weren't doing music,
what other career path would you have taken? What are
their occupation?
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Definitely something creative, I mean definitely, like an interior designer
or like a makeup artist or a stylist like those
are all I think. Those are all passions of mine
that I love. So I think I definitely would have
done something like that for sure.
Speaker 2 (36:44):
Well, definitely glad you took that music path, no doubt
about it.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
Too.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
